Good morning and welcome to What’s Going On a show about making a difference in our communities and in ourselves. I’m Loraine Ballard Morrill. What's Going On is brought to you by the American Association for cancer research. I’m raising money for the AACR by running during the Philadelphia Marathon. I’m running the Rothman 8 K on Saturday November 23rd. I committed to raising a thousand dollars and I hit that goal two weeks ago thanks to a surprise and very generous donation from Gary Barbera – yes – that Gary Barbera. I’m passionate about this organization because they are working to support research to end cancers and 88 cents out of every dollar raised goes to life saving research. You can put your dollars to excellent use by donating go to aacr.org/donate.

Today – we share with you an interview with a local group of musicians called the Children of Adam – Band - how do you describe them? They would say they perform Positive Message Bearing Music. To hear more about their music, upcoming performances and to vote for them in the PHL Live World Music finals go to https://www.facebook.com/ChildrenOfAdamBand/

First we talk about the invisible homeless – not the folks mostly men you see on the street but families who find temporary shelter with relatives and friends. We speak to Jason Miller, CEO of Families Forward Philadelphia which operates Philadelphia’s largest emergency shelter for families.
