Speaker 1 (00:00):
So this song not familiar with it, but it's given
me a visual of the Rad Revival event coming up
this week. And I'm sure that was your plan, John.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
All absolutely, I could read your mind.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
Yeah again, if you want to come out and have
a good time with us at the Rad Revival event
at Paristown Saturday, we'd love to have you a really cool,
fun event eighties nineties theme. We're talking nothing but eighties
and nineties vibes, a car show featuring nothing but vehicles
from those two decades. They're encouraging folks to dress up
as if we're still living in the eighties and nineties.
And as we heard Alex White talk about yesterday as
(00:31):
he was in studio with us, a really cool thing
that you're going to see if you're there, and that
is people being gifted to vehicles because they are in
need of them and just a great cause. It's the
well I'm gonna be a first car project. But Alex
and his team with this event, they now each year
are giving away I mean he said yesterday, wants to
(00:52):
give away ten vehicles next year. But they rely on
a lot of support, a lot of help, and I
love to see that when you hear this project, what
they're doing, what it's all about. There are many that
want to donate time, donate resources, donate money. It's not
just people who have the ability to help. When it
comes to the automotive side by getting a vehicle refurbished
and repaired, that kind of stuff. Some people just hear
(01:12):
about it and say, hey, that's an awesome cause when
you age out of the foster care system, you are
probably not starting with the same resources with most of
those that did not end up in the foster care
system as a child. So they get vehicles ready for
people that are making that next step in life. And
there's two that will we'll find out tomorrow and it'll
(01:33):
be I'm sorry Saturday, and it'll be really cool to
see that. So again, come out and join us. It's
rad Revival at Paristown from Florida. From Florida. I think
it's fort eight pm. Let me just double check the time.
But yeah, it should be a lot of fun. And
by the way, it's completely free and you come out
and you enjoy yourself, have a good time. There's no
price of admission and should be should be a lot
of fun. But again, it is no Vember yeah, it's
(01:54):
it's it's four to ten pm at Paristown Arts District.
All right. So yesterday there was a press conference where
LMPD discussed something that that they're asking the public to do,
and that is allow them to have access to security
cameras at their home. Not to where they're going to
watch you at all times, but they would love to
(02:16):
have access to footage if need be. If there's a
crime that occurs near your home, maybe on your property,
they want to be able to obtain video footage that
can help them solve the case and of course hold
criminals accountable. It's called Connect Louisville, and they're encouraging businesses
and homeowners to sign up because it can not only
(02:37):
help you, but it can help it can help them.
So I don't doubt at all that this will be beneficial.
But I think the two things that really you know,
the the knowing of how beneficial it is as far
as data results numbers, is all dependent upon how many
people actually say, yeah, I'm cool with this. You guys
can can can install these cameras and and you know,
(02:58):
have at it. And if you say yes, then I
think that's great. I also would understand those of you
said no, because I don't think you are out of
line to have the worry that somebody may at times
find a way to get access to your cameras at
all time and be watching you in your home or
(03:19):
watching you outside your home, and there's just that's just
the level of privacy that you would to keep, meaning
not having people not having access to that. So I
see it from both sides. If I was somebody that
lived in the Louisville metro area in an area that
I realized that the more cameras we have, the more
(03:41):
footage that's available to catch criminals, the better it's going
to impact my community, where I live, where I reside,
where I raise my family. I feel like I would
say absolutely, but I really won't. I mean, I don't
think I would know until I was in that situation.
So residents can register their cameras for free, and again
no live access is granted. It's just contact invo for
investigators to say, hey, we believe your residence has footage
(04:05):
that could help us catch a criminal. Businesses you can
pay for direct integration and it's about fifteen hundred dollars
up front and then plus nine hundred dollars a year
for up to fifty different cameras. So again that's a
cost associated but again this is this is something that
you would also benefit from. And I think that may
be the kicker for certain folks to say, yeah, i'll
(04:30):
you know, maybe maybe the thought of eyes on us
everywhere at all times, if they want that, that would
turn you off. But also knowing that if you okay,
if you're gonna have camera systems yourself, I mean I
feel like this this day and age, it's more I
mean ten years ago, I'm not sure if you went,
and I guess it depends on where you live. But
I just think now there are way more people that
(04:51):
have their own cameras than ever. Well, mostly because it's
more affordable, it's convenient. You can get a ring camera
and set it up, and it's it's pretty easy and
cheap to do. And again it's official. So maybe this
is the for homeowners maybe because you know, maybe maybe
this is where they say okay, I mean, look, I
get it from both sides. And sometimes it's not, you know,
(05:11):
the cool thing to do on this platform, to play middleman,
but sometimes it's just an obvious thing. I could see
why you would want to help, and I could see
why you would say, yeah, no, I'm not. I'm not
going to trust that they're just going to only access
these whenever I say they can. All right, let's get
to a quickup bit of trafficking weather. We got a
lot more to come, including Rody O and Neil going
to join us. At eight thirty five. We'll get the
latest on the hurricane that has cost some never before
(05:34):
seen devastation down in Jamaica. And not only that's not
the only area that's been impacted. So again we'll get
the latest from Rory had a lot more right here
on News Radio eight forty whas. So if you go
back like eight nine years, that was right before, right
before Tom Juratrick Patino were out it and really it
(05:54):
ended an air of UL athletics. And the reason I
bring this up is because something that happened last night
during NBA coverage. But at that time, I think we
knew that we were as a louis and I'm a
Louisville fan. For those that did not know that there
was some pretty special talent over there on Floyd Street.
I mean Donovan Mitchell and Lamar Jackson are two guys
that are currently one of the faces of the professional league,
(06:18):
and Louisville as a university and athletic department still benefits
from that because those two guys, specifically Donovan, I mean
he's he's not just a guy who's like, yeah, I
went to u of L. I support him. He's a fan.
He goes out of his way to show that he
really enjoys being here, and that's great. But it wasn't
just those two guys, Donovan and Lamar. I mean, he
also had Brendan McKay. If you remember how big of
a deal he was. Somebody that was next was sensational
(06:41):
it playing both ways in baseball during a time where
baseball was rolling. Also Asia Durr was one of the
best players in the country and women's basketball. And also
Katie George really the first volleyball player for u of
L that got notoriety to an extent to where you
were getting national attention. Of course, look the program now,
so last night Katie of course, for those who don't
(07:04):
know she's she's now working for ESPN. You see her
as a sideline reporter for a lot of i mean
NBA coverage big time college football games. She's everywhere. She's
a star, and it's it's great to see her. I
forgot to mention, Oh, yes, she used to be a
colleague of ours. She used to work here. In fact,
she was on seven ninety for a while before she
made the move and started to kind of branch out.
(07:24):
And of course now she's she's crushing it for ESPN.
But she's doing the silent reporting last night for ESPN's
Cavaliers Celtics game, and they're they're asking her, you know,
for updates on the status of Donovan Mitchell. And I'm
not sure I think it was brought up, but she's
sitting there half court talking on live TV. Donovan's warming
up behind behind her. You know, they're not just you know,
(07:47):
it's not just a silent reporter and a player. These
two were in school together, classmates that you have held
where she just says, hey, Donovan, are you are you
playing the night? And he had no problem in walking
over and answering the question. Not having him on the
court tonight would be a big mess. But I don't
know about you, guys. He's looking pretty good so far.
We're hopeful, We're hopeful, indeed, we are TD George.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
He said, yes, he said he's gonna play.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
See that's how that's how you break news. That's how
you get to the source, you go right to the man,
and asked, So I didn't see that live. I'm not
sure if if those on the set for ESPN were
able to pick up on the fact that they don't
just have maybe a relationship because she's interviewed him many
times as an ESPN sideline reporter, but also they went
to u of L together and know each other outside
(08:32):
of just the professional level. So yeah, I see her
all the time all over ESPN. Again, some of the
biggest moments, some of the biggest games ESPN has on
their platform, rather it be college football or NBA, she's
usually the reporter talking to the star player or the
coach afterwards. And she used to be She used to
be here with us at iHeart and of course was
(08:53):
a phenomenal athlete at u of LN and at dead assumption.
So yeah, I think if I'd just saw that lab
night without somebody pointing out the UFL connection, I'm not
sure if I would have made it, because you know,
I now see these two individuals as not just former
U of L stars, but they're they're stars in their
own in their own world. Now. Donovan of course in
(09:14):
the NBA, one of the best guards in the league.
And Katie she's she's crushing it for ESPN. All right,
let's get to a quick time out. We've got trafficking
weather updates on the way, and we also will get
to a sports update with Scott a news updates coming
your way. Rory's going to join us, so you know
the drill. But first I need to let you know
it is my duty to let you know that you
are you're missing out if you don't take advantage of
(09:34):
a great opportunity with Window Nation right now. So the
chilly air has been here, you probably have already felt
some of that cold air creeping into your home. And
this is the time, this is the indicator that you
need to get those replaced. And there's nobody that's going
to hook you up more so than my friends at
window Nation. They've got some of the best replacement windows
out there. Bill install them in just a day or less.
Plus they back every window with a lifetime warranty. And
(09:55):

That's why I trust Windownation. They've got an A plus

five star reviews, three million windows installed nationwide. It's because
they do a phenomenal job with service and their product
(10:19):
is excellent. Those numbers speak for themselves. So go to
window nation dot com to take advantage today. Just a
few minutes left for us and then we're going to
hand it off to the fellas Tony Venetti and Dwight Whitten.
So we missed time Machine Tuesday just because I dropped
the ball and forgot about it. So we'll do a
throwback Thursday. As we're looking back here at old articles
(10:39):
that feature the one and only Tony Venetti. We're looking
at a picture right now that I'm sure is going
to go up later on social media. I won't post it,
but I'm sure Dwight will if Tony won't, but it is.
It is Tony and Dwight. Tony, You're in a Louisville
batch Jersey and you guys are in one of the
old studios at our old location. You have tape around
your mouths and you are there's rope tying you together.
(11:00):
Two women, one of them they.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Don't have a lot of one of them topless.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
However, the microphone blocks it strategically. The other is is
in a bikini and they look like they're holding you hostage.
Do you remember this photo shoot?
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yes? See I do. Yeah. You asked me a question.
You said, uh, hey, you want me to say you
want me to do you want to.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Send this a quick answer?
Speaker 2 (11:22):
And I said, no, why would you?
Speaker 1 (11:26):
I mean, look, is it is? It? Is it just
because you don't you don't need to reference it again.
You don't care.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Because I've made a huge mistake in my career, which
is I have not kept anything. I haven't I've gotten
rid of tapes, I've gotten rid of everything because I
don't have articles. I don't have anything because I have
this fear that if I start to gather that stuff
up that it will end. Is that weird?
Speaker 1 (11:50):
No? That makes sense, Honestly, that's I totally understand that.
And I'm happy you shared that with me because I
I I totally get it. It makes total sense.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
I'm probably gonna regret.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
But but you but you the way you, the way
you do what you do every day, and you know
your your personality has been pretty consistent throughout it the
entirety of rock sports and in this But I would
never think of that, But it makes total sense. You know,
he is human people.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Radio He doesn't show you that he has feelings very often.
But that's a very real thing to say.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
But radio never ends. It's like, you did something great yesterday,
super that was yesterday, that was That's the way the
business is. You can have give me number one in
the book one year and they're like, we don't care,
what are you doing this quarter?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Most people never know when it's their last show. You
told me early on, and I tried to keep that
in mind every day, So who knows. Hopefully I'll be
back tomorrow, but only Tom Tom will tell. I think
you're saying, buddy, all right, we've got Tony into White
coming your way next right here on news Radio eight
forty w h A S.
