Speaker 1 (00:00):
There's going to be a big march tomorrow Lago, or
at least close to it this weekend on Saturday. And
this is a coordinated national opposition movement, and we are
speaking with one of the groups, Carlos Alvarez Aranyos. He's
the founder of American Opposition. Now, Carlos, I appreciate you

(00:25):
joining me. Let me understand what makes this march different
than the other ones.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
It's the first time that the national protest movement is
coming tomorrow Lago and protesting Trump at his home. We
feel that it's important, obviously given what's happening with Iran,
given what's been happening with ice in Minneapolis and in
other places, and now we're seeing all of these things
far less the firing of Christy Nome because of the

(00:54):
behavior that was revealed in that hearing. We're just bringing
it all to bear. And also, you know, one side
with National Women's Day, and so we want to make
sure that we elevate the concerns of women who are
living under this administration and are having to deal with
reproductive rights and other rights being stolen from them. And
you know, early on and took part of Project twenty

(01:15):
twenty five. We even heard about them going after the
right to vote for women and these kinds of sort
of foundational attacks on women. So we want to make
sure that we center the messages that women are carrying.
And we're going to have earth to Need a very
popular singer who's going to be joining us, and we
have Arian Benankoor, whose father is currently held by Ice

(01:37):
and she's one of the leaders of the consistent process
that you see at Alligator Archetraze. So we're bringing all
of these people to his home to make sure he
d hears us very clearly that this can't continue. And
so our goal is impeachment and removal. And we feel
that delivering this message in mar A Lago is an
important extent.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
So you're saying this is the first time the national
group has done it, because, uh, you know, we're local
here and we've seen these kind of events happen, So
I guess these are just have been just local efforts
in the past.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, you know, you've seen a lot of activism in
Florida has been amazing. The organizers have been amazing. The
people that are consistently at Moralago have done an amazing
job of making that happen. What we hope to do
is to leverage the national movement. Obviously, we were the
organization that first called for the first No King protest.
Cliff Cash, who is the lead organizer on this, has

(02:30):
then done many events around Fox News and other protests.
So we're hoping to bring all of that infrastructure to
bear and media attention such as yours to make sure
that that the work of the local organizers is elevated.
We're going to have a lot of the local organizers
leading this effort in terms of helping us produce it
on the ground, so we're very thankful to them, and

(02:52):
we're going to have them speak in and make sure
that their messages are carried throughout the country. Our goal
is not to colonize local protests. Our goal is to
just like we did a broad view and we went
to the ice facility at Brovunois recently, and we were
able to elevate the messaging of the local organizers and
really carry it throughout the nation. And that's our task really,

(03:14):
it's to nationalize these messages and make sure people understand
that local issues are national issues and vice versa, and
that that interchange can happen fluidly and that we can
do a responsible job of carrying Florida's messages to the
rest of the country to make sure that people understand
what the local organizers in Florida are facing.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Are you asking that locals take part in this, I
would assume.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Oh, absolutely. We want the entire state of Florida to
come and join us as we march tomorrow. Ago. We
want Donald Trump to feel it abundantly clearly that his communities,
that the people that are his neighbors are just as
frustrated with his policies as we are. And we want
to make sure that everybody in Palm Beach and West
Palm down to Miami and up through local Tilby, that

(03:59):
everybody who feels simpelled it comes down and joins us.
It's going to be an event that starts at one
o'clock at the Peaches. At the Peach, which is an
art community state that the ticketed event. We're using that
to raise funds for the march itself. But it's going
to have Cliff Gash doing comedy, and he's doing music,
and Robert Arnold, who's a great American poet, is going

(04:21):
to be sharing some of his work. I'm going to
be speaking. We're going to have doctor Ali Muhammad, the
national head of the Revolutionaries like Panther Party, is going
to be speaking. So it's going to be a great
program for about two and a half hours, and then
at three point thirty, the march is going to begin
from there from the peach to the bridge in front
of all A Lago. And so we're hoping that everybody
comes out. If you don't go to the event, the

(04:44):
march is free, so there's no need to buy a
ticket if you can't, but we would hope that people
would join us for both.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
So now let me ask you because in your press
release it says that you will confront Donald Trump directly
as residents. But checking for the FAA the VIP alerts
that are put out, there's only one this weekend in Florida,
and it's in Miami, and I know that's got some

(05:11):
things going on throughout, So I don't think he's going
to be at mar A Lago. Does that affect this
at all?

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Well, we think he's going to be traveling to Miami
for a summit with Latin American presidents that was previously scheduled.
So we're hopeful that is motivated will likely leave mar
A Lago during the march, but we're not absolutely certain
of that. But the point is not Look, we've been
in front of Donald Trump. We've done massive actions in
front of the White House. He's heard us many times before.

(05:38):
He is very clearly aware of us as a national movement.
We've caused him a great amount of consternation and frustration.
We have made him the least popular president of American history.
We've delivered an immaculate election where the Democrats won every
race they could win across the country last November. That
has never happened. And by the way, that's not a
function of the Democratic Party, which is less popular than Trump.

(06:01):
It's a function of this movement leveraging its power to
create that momentum that has now filled over. And you're
seeing that the final thing he had going for him
was low gas prices. Now those are up. I think
the entire country is aware of just how horrible a
president he is, and I think it's a credit to
this movement. From no type of kings on down, we

(06:22):
have established his horribleness. Right, So whether he hears us
in person or not is not really relevant. We just
want to make sure we show up at his home
and inconvenience him to the extent that we can, and
make sure that those messages are delivered. That the people
who are always there, the people in Florida who are
fighting desperately against from the Santas, who are fighting this

(06:43):
new bill labeling people domestic terrorists in Florida which just passed.
All of these concerns that are in Florida are going
to metastasize nationally, and we want to make sure that
we carry that message for the people of Florida and
for the organizers locally impalmed each so that everybody across
the country understands that the tyranny of Ron de Santis

(07:04):
is married to the tyranny of Donald Trump. And it's
hard job to make sure that people understand votes and
that they get ready because other states, unfortunately, we learn
from the worst examples, and we just don't want what's
happening in Florida to continue to protasticize across the country.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Carlo, is just one more question for you, then I'm
gonna let you run. You talk about wanting to have
Trump impeached removed from office. Let's just say that that
happens let's say that they do. Right now, it doesn't
look like there are the votes to actually remove him,
but let's say, you know, maybe after the midterms that happens.

(07:41):
Are you not concerned about Jdie Vance being maybe even
a stronger you know, the way you would look at things,
maybe a worse president.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
To be honest, Jade Vance uffled with a Democratic Congress
is basically just an examp full of Republican ineffectiveness. I
mean jd Vance is not Donald Trump. He doesn't have
the cult of personality. He is as lame a human
being as they come. He sort of perfectly reflects the Democrats,

(08:13):
the Republican Party, excuse me, without Donald Trump, and so
to min you know, in my assessment is jd Vance
is a much more manageable entity of Democratic Congress, which
we're going to deliver in the midterms, is going to
check him. But more importantly, I think it'll remind Americans
that if you remove the culture personality against around Donald Trump,

(08:34):
but the Republican Party is jd Vance and Mike Johnson
and people like that. And I actually think that that
would serve to galvanize the country further because it would
remove sort of the appeal of Trump and his perpetual
game show type presidency and make it less interesting and
make it more start in terms of reminding people that

(08:54):
these people are just greedy and they're just mean, and
we all remember them from the playground. And Jade Van
is a kid we all knew in high school. And
unfortunately he's been elevated to power, which is not something
that would normally happen. But the fact is that he
is not a strong force that we worry about as
a movement. We worry about Donald Trump because of his

(09:16):
bold of personality and because of his talent at simplifying
and repeating communications, even especially false communications. He's very good
at it. He knows what he's doing. He's very intentional
about moving from one thing to the next thing and
creating a perpetual cycle where if he can't be hin
down on anything. And I just know that JD. Vance

(09:38):
doesn't have any of those talents, and so I worry
way less about him in terms of doing damage, and
I am much more optimistic that we can make progress
against him in terms of reclaiming our country and starting because,
by the way, the rebuild of our democracy, it doesn't
start when they both leave office. It starts as soon
as Trump is out of office. So the next two

(09:59):
years after November, after we reclaim Congress, is all about
starting the process of rebuilding this democracy and reclaiming this
country so that we don't lose it to these people
ever again.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
All right, once again, the march is happening. It begins
I believe it at three or three thirty after the
one o'clock event at the Peach that's at thirty nine
to fifty Georgia Avenue in West Palm Beach. As Carlos
mentioned that as a ticketed event, But if you just
want to take part in the march, get there around
I guess three o'clock off of Southern Boulevard near Georgia

(10:32):
Avenue because that's where you guys are going to start
lining up. Correct.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Yes, yes, we'll be there. If you want to be early,
be there at three. We will take off at three
thirty from the Peach, and we will have a lot
of facilities for people if they can't walk or if
they have any additional safety needs. We will have plenty
of safety marshals, plenty of medics, plenty of support. We're
going to do the best we can as we always
do to keep it safe, keep it peaceful, and keep

(10:57):
it successful. We invite everybody to please come out and
join us. If you haven't been to one of our protests,
they are not quite as sanitized as others. They are
much more engaging, and I think people find that they
can express their minds around people who believe the same
things they do. And so we encourage everybody to come
out and join us and make this march and success.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
All right, Founder of American Opposition, Carlos Alvarez Aranos, thank
you for joining me here on the Florida News Network.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Thank you for having me. Have a great dak
