and Karina of alaskaz for Christie's birthday. Did they go
(01:53):
to Lake Tahoe?
Speaker 5 (01:55):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Did they go to Las Vegas? No, that's for us
mere mortals. These too, just came back from Christy.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
Bali, Indonesia and it was amazing and it won't be long.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
The trip was fun.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
For checking out podcasts number two hundred and fifteen. Okay,
tell me everything. First of all, Karina did this thing
where she was getting baptized by waters something to that effect.
Take me inside that moment, Christy, I noticed you didn't
do it so what all went down there?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Yeah, so Martha, I went to one of the busiest
or like worlds I guess known water temples in Indonesia
and it's from a lot of the Balinese Hindu community.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Go there and it's a holy spring water. So you
go there and you do this whole purification.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
You have to go through each i'd call it a
water fountain or what do you call it a water
It like little water fountain. Yeah, So you go through
it and you go through each step. There's probably about
I would say about thirteen of them, and you do
a little prayer like thank you for this water, and
you dunk your head in the water, and it's just
like a spiritual cleansing in holy water.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
That first one you told me about it, I thought, oh,
I would totally do that, And then you sent me
the video and I was like, oh, I'm not sure
I would do that because the water looked freezing. Was
it freezing?
Speaker 4 (03:18):
It was cold, But I've been in colder water. I've
been in South Lake tah Hoole water where that was freezing.
This was a little cold, but it felt incredible. It
felt really really good.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
And the sun came out right when you started, So
that was perfect timing because it had been raining in
the morning and then it had been overcast, but as
soon as she started, the sun came out, so that
was nice.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, Christy. How many people went with you on your
birthday extravaganza?
Speaker 5 (03:44):
Six other people, so it was seven total. And the
group traveled really well together. We flew on the same flight.
One friend we met there, and we stayed at the
hotels together and hung out except our friend Paul, but
he was out in town, you know, hanging out and
having fun and having fun. So and ended up getting
forty tattoos. He went from zero to forty.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
No, are you joking, not at all, zero.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
To forty overnight. He said it didn't hurt, so I
kept going. Yeah, they were tiny, but forty tattoos.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Yes, they're really cute tattoos.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Honestly, Martha, you remember cat Bondie, how she had the
little stars on her face.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
He did not give kattoos tattoos on his.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Face, but they were as tiny as that on his
body and his arms, and they're really, really cute, honestly.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Did they say like Christy and Karina and happy Birthday
Christy and things like that?
Speaker 5 (04:32):
They were like little stars and moons and tiny, tiny,
tiny little tattoos.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
They were probably about the size of dimes.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Yeah, but all over to cover his beauty marks that
he had and he was really self conscious about them,
and he had forty kind of all over his body.
So he ended up getting them all covered with little
tattoos and he felt really good and he was really
excited about it.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Okay, So have you ever been to Bali before, Christy,
You've been everywhere.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
I went to Bali last year for my birthday, so
I wanted to go back again this year with more
of my friends, and so we did, and we stayed
at a different hotel every single day because I wanted
everyone to experience the different parts of town. And so
each day we picked up and moved and we asked
everyone or I asked everyone to bring a carry on
(05:19):
so we wouldn't have to wait for bags, so we
wouldn't have to check bags. And they ended up checking
all of our bags because they were overweight carry ons.
So then we ended up still having to wait for
our bags, and one of them got lost and that
was a whole ordeal, but it was it was fun.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah, it was a great time.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
When I think of Bali. I think of those huts
that are out in the water, and it's just a
little hut on a little what do you call it,
like a dock, not small thing around maybe some coconut trees.
So describe what Bali is actually like like.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
A city, like a gritty city, kind of like downtown
Los Angeles, but more cultural.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
And there are different pockets.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
It's kind of like, if you're familiar with Los Angeles,
there's Malibu, so you have like kind of schmancy beach area,
and you could have that, and in Bali that would
be Nusadua. In Vegas they have the Las Vegas Strip,
which is kind of gritty, but then all the clubs
and the lights and that simonnac and that's kind of
like the Vegas Strip with bars. And we went out
(06:25):
to a club that night and they were literally carting
people out in bags.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
And body bags that look like.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Tell me a little more about that.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
We people who had too much to drink.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Yeah, we went to a nightclub and the next thing
you know, we see people It literally look like a
body bag, but the person's in there because they're just
so drunk out of their mind and that's.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
How security guard was taken them out. We thought there
were I was like, oh, there's eight security guards like
shuffling this bag out. Maybe they're taking the money drop
for the night. And then we looked and we're like,
oh my god, that's a person and she's like laid
out in this tart kind of if someone would put
you in a tarp enroll you like a burrito and
then pick you up and you know, usher you out
of the club.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah, it was that kind of party.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Did they put the We had no idea.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
They went behind another door and Martha and we did
not know, and we didn't ask questions, and that was it.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
We were like, they are taking people out of here impacts.
It was four a m.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Though, So I mean, if you've been partying all night, hey,
that's I mean, there's going to be some people. It's
like the Vegas Strip, you know. And then there's another
part of Bali that is more like a Peer thirty
nine in San Francisco. Lots of tourists shops, the fun familiar.
There's Burger King, there's an H and M, there's a Tzara.
You could shop the beaches right across the way, So
(07:41):
it's definitely a little bit of whatever you'd like. But
as far as the huts on water and that beautiful
kind of ocean thing, that's more Tahiti or the Maldives.
That's not really Bali. There are places though that have
like the beautiful beach that's kind of like the Nusadua
or Nusa Paneda, and there are other places in Indonesia
you could go like that. But it was more of
a party where we were going.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
So what's the main reason that people go to Bali?
Like you know, for Vegas, it's the action and the
gambling and the shows and just the overall action. What's
the main reason people go to Bali.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
There's another part of Bali called Ubud, and that is
like the Eat, Prey Love, you know. So Julia Roberts
in that movie, she went to Bali and she had
more of that jungle forest experience where you go and
meet the is it Tatook, I'm not sure if that's
the name of it, kind of like the Indonesia and
shaman and you do a lot of yoga and reflection
(08:36):
out in the forest and the jungle and there's rice patties.
That's Ubud and I think a lot of people go
to Bali for that, so a lot of the yoga
sound healing nature, So that's that's one reason.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
And then of course the partying.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Yeah, and I'll say that also, people out in Bali
are extremely nice, the people, the community, They are just
very very nice people and just want to help you
out and whatever you need. They're They're like, the people
in Bali are just really really something else.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
It is beautiful and the people are kind, and it's
really inexpensive, very inexpensive, so that's also a win. A
lot of Australian tourists go there.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Yeah, would you.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Say it was mostly the tourists who are being carried
out of the clubs and bags?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Oh of course, I don't know, I would think so.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
I don't think local people would would do that and
party like that like they know better.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Hmmm, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
The woman I saw look like she was Indonesian, but yeah, yeah,
someone else saw someone else who looked like they could
have an Australian or European.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
I actually got asked if I was Indonesian a few
times or if I was Indian a few times, so
I'm like okay, so I can see how. You know,
if you look at somebody, you think, but I think
it's more of the tourists that would do that.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
It was crazy, you would think, because they would go
and not be able to maybe handle the liquor and
the alcohol, and if you're coming from far away, you
might already be a little whoo, you know, sink with
your environment. So you just started chugging away and you
just don't realize how quickly perhaps you can be affected
(10:09):
in that kind of scenario.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
It was a really beautiful place.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
We had a really, really fun time, and I want
to say that the birthday girl, Christy did an incredible itinerary.
Christie planned everything and I really respect the fact that
Christy put everything together for all of us and we
didn't stay in no Rinkidan hotel.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
She put us in some nice places with our own rooms,
which I wasn't even expecting.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
I was okay with sharing a room, but no, she
gave us all individual rooms.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
She made sure we were all taken care of.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
And I told Christy thank you for that, because that
was a really like that made the experience so much better.
She planned every single detail from the minute that we
got off the plane. She took us all to go
get full body massages and feet massages and it was great.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
It was really really good.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Thanks, give me a sample itinerary one of the days,
Like what types of things were on your itinerary? As
soon as I like it? Foot massage massages like it.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
As soon as we got off the plane, you know,
we're waiting there to get our bags. Christy's like, we're
gonna go get massages. Nope, we're not going back to
the hotel. If you guys need a shower, you can
shower at the massage place.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
So we did that. Okay. She's like, all right, we're
gonna be done.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
By seven o'clock with our massages. By eight o'clock you
need to be ready to go for dinner.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
We live and the reservation was already.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Sifty booked every single thing.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Christie.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Yeah, it was really incredible, And I'm like that's really
sweet for her to do because it was her birthday.
But she literally planned this entire trip and Christy did
really good. I'm like, everybody needs a Christie in their life.
She should be a travel agent. Because all the hotels
were really nice. Everything that we did, plan dinner here
we're gonna meet here for dinner, We're gonna meet here
(11:55):
for brunch. Oh, we're gonna go on Saturday to the
beach club and we're gonna spend all day there.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Everything's taken care of. It was a great time.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
It was fun.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
It was a really fun time.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Beach club, massages, dinners, night, some other activities.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
We went to the nightclub.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
We also went to do the famous Bali swings, so
you're pretty much sitting on a swing and Instagram photo, yeah,
Instagram photo where the jungle is behind you. So we
did that and then from there we went to the
temple because I wanted to do the whole water purification.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
And then we were.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Going to go to see the how the coffee was made,
but by that time we were all kind of tired
and said, you know what, we can get the coffee
for now.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Let's just let's just go and yeah, and that's how
it was. It was. We were on the go, go go,
but it was it was. It was fun.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
How is the coffee and Bali? I know right, it
was delicious at that first hotel.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Do you want to say how that coffee is made?
Speaker 5 (12:52):
The coffee is LUUK coffee? Have you heard of this,
Marta Quan.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
No, I have not.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
So the luuck coffee is actually coffee that luak. It's
a little animal. It kind of looks like a meer cat. Yeah,
it looks like a meer cat. And it eats the
coffee bean and then it goes to the bathroom and
they take the coffee bean out of the waste from
the animal, and then they process the coffee bean. They
(13:18):
clean it, they process the bean, and then they bake
the bean.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Or whatever they do to coffee.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
What do they do?
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Roast roast that's it. I said, bake roast it. And
then it's luak coffee. So it's like this really fancy
kind of coffee. And we were going to the coffee
plantation where they make it, and they have the luax
and they're playing and they're eating the berries and then
they take the waste from the berries and then create
the coffee.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
But everyone's like, let's have a couple of questions.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Here as running around like speedy.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
I don't know because they kind of look like sloths
to me. The luac looks like a sloth if you google.
They were like, no, because they're eating the beans. No,
because because they're eating there caffeine. They're eating like these berries,
like the coffee berries, because isn't coffee a berry? And
then it turns into a bean. I think that's how
(14:15):
it works. The we should have gone to the coffee plantation.
We all would have had the answers, but since everyone
wanted to go home, then now we don't know.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
It was a little bit late.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
They're coffee cherries. I knew it was something. It's like
a fruit.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
So the luacs they eat the coffee cherries and then
they you know, go to the bathroom and then they
take the cherries that have come from the luac and
they actually, Yeah, it's.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Considered one of the world's most expensive coffees.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
What a crazy idea, Like, how do you think this
even came about? What a what a nutty situation I
have No I wonder if I gave my dog Bueller
some coffee cherries, it'd make me some coffee maybe.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
But it's like a sustainable environ mentally, it's conscious and
animal friendly kope luwak production.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
So that's basically it is somewhat fermented, which maybe makes
it a little healthier. What a fascinating thing. I'll have
to look into this. I've never heard of this. So
highlights please, ladies, highlights one for each of you.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Oh Man.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Highlight of the trip was one is the water purification
at the temple and then Christie's birthday celebration at the
beach Club.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Beach Club Finn's Beach Club was made.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
It was epic and Karina left before it really turned
up because it's literally an all day thing. You get there, yeah,
before one o'clock, and I had reserved this VIP bed
right next to the pool, and so.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Oh, we're there all day.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
We were there all day and I just know my
limit or were like I kind of tapped out and
I was like, okay, I think you know my brain
I was a little over stimulated.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
They went back to the villa and so we enjoy an.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Incredible villa which had a beautiful pool.
Speaker 5 (15:59):
So but yeah, but as soon as they left, man,
the sun went down. Because you can see this beautiful
sunset because it's right on the beach.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
I saw the sunset. Yeah, that was beautiful.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
And so but as soon as the sun goes down,
like literally the sun dipped on the horizon. The DJ
started this countdown and it was like ten nine eight.
It was like the perfectly timed sun dip to the
DJ countdown, and then it.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
Said one, Welcome to Finn's Beach Club, the biggest or
best beach club in the world. And then fireworks started blasting,
and then the DJ is like playing all this music
and then everyone there's like thousands of people going crazy.
Then there's people coming out on roller skates and dudes
(16:45):
wearing silver disco balls for heads, and then some girls
on some like go go boxes with shandeliers on their head,
and then they brought out sparklers, and then there's a.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Guy eating fire and juggling fire square. It's an insane party.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah, and how long were you there at that point? Christy?
Speaker 4 (17:04):
You were there for twelve hours because you got there
at twelve and then it was closed at twelve, so
twelve hours.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Yeah, maybe you like ten ten.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
And was it one of those situations like at Chuck
E Cheese where they knew it was your birthday and
they gathered around and sang Happy Birthday.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
They did I got a cake?
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Yeah, they came out, and then there's food, and then
there's four restaurants there so you can use your you know,
when you book a reservation.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
You can.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
Your reservation is essentially your credit, and so you reserve,
but it's a minimum spend. You're not paying anything. You're
using all the money that you've spent there on drinks
and food.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
And so we did and we ate. There's tons of food.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
And then at the end we had so much credit left,
so we're like, yeah, we're scoring everything.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
It was fun.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
And then they came out with the bags and carried
everybody off.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I know they were carrying people out of there.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
I know they were, I mean, and people were jumping
in the pool.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
It was crazy. It was crazy.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Well, I am so surprised. This is not what I
expected from Balie at all. I did not expect that.
So all right, well, welcome back, Thank you. Me and
Little Ricky were here holding down the ford, chat out
Little Ricky and uh, you know, I was like, wow,
I can't believe how far they are. And you guys
(18:26):
came back Tuesday night and we're back on the air
Wednesday morning, and.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
I was like, how are they going to do this?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
But I know, you guys, I knew that you would
be so filled with energy that it was gonna be
just an awesome you know, there was no worries there,
but you know we were, Me and little Ricky were like, well,
I hope that plane, you know, any kind of delays,
but that's awesome. Well, happy birthday, Christy. You definitely deserve it.
