Typically, being established in Hollywood is beneficial when you're signing
a deal a contract to make something original, But every
now and then, being the new kid on the block
with a totally unproven idea can end up working out
in your favor. That's what just happened with the creators
of K Pop Demon Hunters.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yeah, so it's two co directors, Maggie King and Chris
Applehon's weren't exactly major players when they pitched the movie
to Sony, but it was obviously a good enough idea
for Sony to jump on board.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
But Sony didn't foresee the popularity that would come because
once the movie hit Netflix literally is shattered streaming records,
becoming the most watched film ever.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
It's still regularly in their top ten movies, not to
mention the massive merchandise sales that go with it too.
But Sony chose not to put any terms in the
director's contracts in regards to a sequel, and that's now
officially in the works.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Yeah, they're getting fifty million across five years and a
piece of the huge merchandise sales, which even retroactively includes
the original movie aka.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Payday, so they're going back in time to pay them
to and well deserved. Kapap Demon Hunters is on Netflix
