Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, Danielle.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
You're on the air. Good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:02):
Hi.

Speaker 4 (00:03):
Yes, so, hello.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
I was supposed to get married next year. And so
my best friend has been weird about my fiancé basically
since I met him, right?

Speaker 4 (00:17):
And I always just assumed that she didn't like him.
Maybe I'm spending too much time with him, not enough
with her.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
But recently we got into a huge fight.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
And she finally admits to me that she hooked up
with my fiance. Oh, no.

Speaker 5 (00:39):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Now, OK, to be fair, it was several years before
we met, but they both decided to just not tell me.
And she's been standing next to me, helping me plan
a wedding.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
For like a year.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
So I called up the engagement. I did not because
they hooked up, but because. The two people closest to
me looked me in the face every day and decided
to lie.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
But I didn't deserve to know the truth.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
What was the nature of the hookup? What happened?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Do you know?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
It was multiple times and I believe it was all
the way. Oh my God.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
So if you, if you're, I mean now ex-fiance and
ex-best friend, if they told you that they had hooked
up before, even if this was, you know, six months ago,
do you think that you would have called off the
engagement or is it just because they continue to.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Lie to you? I think, I hope that I would
have been able to like get over it. It was
before I met him and like, I didn't meet him
through her. So it was not connected. Like they, it
wasn't their fault, but then they're both lying to me.
And it feels like they actually like had this whole,

(01:51):
some sort of relationship outside of me.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
I would feel that way too.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I got to tell you though, you got to try
to put yourself in their perspective for a second. They
had this relationship. Maybe the friend and the boyfriend at
some point didn't realize how far this was going to
go with you. And now there's three months, you're three
months into a serious relationship. Now you're like, do we
tell her? Now it's six months in. Now it's a year,
however long you've been together. Like, oh, my God, they're

(02:15):
getting married and we've never told her. Like, let's just
nip it.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
But you know how that conversation goes, right? Like, as
soon as Danielle brings her new boyfriend around her best friend,
they look at each other.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Things are awkward.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Then the two of them decide to go off to
the side and say, yeah, we're not going to tell her.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Or maybe they already talked about it. Maybe they never
even talked about it.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
Either way, it like doesn't it almost doesn't even matter
what was behind the hiding of it. it's the fact
that you like poor danielle's been the odd man out
this whole time and they've been holding the secret behind
her back whether they talked about it and conspired behind
her back or just didn't tell her and just it
was like an unspoken thing it almost doesn't even matter
because she's felt so awkward finding it out that like

(02:56):
this whole the whole time extra gloves like it's.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Sort of like give danielle the information so she can
decide what she wants to do with it but If
you're both hiding it.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Actually, the part that bothers me the most is that
you get into a fight with your friend and your
friend uses that to hurt you.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah, that's also messed up.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah, it's not like they sat down to tell me
a hard truth. Right, she's mad at you.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
And she's like, by the way, I slept with David.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Right, which means that she's in the back of her
head the whole time. Every time you've irritated her, she's like.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
You're right, that makes it worse.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
And what's your fiance, now that you've broken up and
called off the engagement, what's his excuse or his plea
to get you back?

Speaker 4 (03:34):
He's like, I don't want to hurt your feelings.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
I love you so much.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
And please don't throw away our relationship over one thing.
And I'm like, I'm not going to spend the rest
of my life with someone who doesn't tell me things.
You know, a lie of omission.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
Trust. It broke the trust.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Well, thank you for calling in, Danielle.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Have a great day.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (03:58):
Yep. Got it going.
