Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, so Courtney had a sleepover at her house
while her husband was out of town with a new friend,
and he was pissed. Allie, your thoughts?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Yeah, so I'm just wondering if Courtney's the one that
called in before that had said that she was evacuating
a country due to safety concerns, her husband's a pilot,
all of that stuff, and they were moving?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Yeah, that's her.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, so he's.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
A pilot, whether he's a military pilot or.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
A commercial pilot. He has to have certain security clearances
that other people don't necessarily have to have to be
able to fly aircraft safely. So I'm wondering if there's
an underlining issue there that's more so he's upset because
it could be a safety concern. I mean, he doesn't
know this person. This person lives in that country. Not
saying that people are bad in every country. However, you know,

(00:49):
sometimes people do become targets for certain things once they
find out something about a person.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
He used to be in lockdown mode, so... Just having
somebody sleeping in his bed, he'd be like, whoa, what?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Right, so his fight or flight is just probably on
alert because they just literally had to evacuate another country
for safety.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
That makes sense. You know what, guys? Both things can
be true. Just kidding. I don't know if that worked out.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Also, John Jay, my 13-year-old actually has a question for you.
She asked if she could ask you.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
How do I get.

Speaker 6 (01:25):
Disney tickets.

Speaker 7 (01:25):
Like, what's your tips and tricks?

Speaker 8 (01:28):
Tips and tricks for Disney tickets, guys.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
I got a great tip. Here's what you do, Leslie.
You take your phone in with you to school, put
an earpiece in, and you listen for the magic words
on the iHeart app or on Kiss FM. And we
give them out at 10.05. What time are you out
of school?

Speaker 8 (01:45):
Three o'clock.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Okay, perfect. Then you listen for the magic words at 10.05, 11.05, 12.05, 1.05, 2.05.
You'll get five magic words. And then Monday, we'll ask
you to call in. That's your tip.

Speaker 9 (01:58):
What about this morning?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Because when do we call?

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Like, what's the best time to call?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Probably around 8, 8.02, 8.03, right around that. Yeah. Now,
another thing is you can have your mom do it
for you. Have her listen.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
If she loves you, she'll win.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:12):
I know.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
That's why I called.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
It, too.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Oh, she heard yesterday's. Okay, good. Well, call us back
in about 40 minutes. Good luck.

Speaker 10 (02:22):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
The key is, though, to be listening to us. You
just can't call in. You got to listen when we
tell you to call in.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
All right.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Leslie, your thoughts on the sleepover.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Hello, Leslie.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (02:35):
Hi. Yeah. So I saw a whole bunch of the
comments were like, well, if she's bisexual, then there's a problem.
There could be a problem for that. And I am
full on lesbian married to my wife. We've been together
for 16 years. And I've slept in beds with my
best friends because you know what? Just because I'm with

(02:55):
somebody with a vajayjay doesn't mean I want everybody with
a vajayjay.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Period.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
I mean, that tracks, I guess.

Speaker 8 (03:02):
Mic drop.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Sure.

Speaker 10 (03:06):
I just, I can't control myself around women.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Whatever.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
It's not the.

Speaker 11 (03:11):
Way it is.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
All right, Leslie. I wasn't expecting that point of view,
but thank you for bringing it.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
It's a valid one.

Speaker 10 (03:19):
It is.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
It very much is.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Thanks, Leslie.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Have a great day.

Speaker 10 (03:25):
You too.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
So today is 9-11, September 11th, and we are going
to get into a special tribute probably around in about
10 minutes after we play. What's the game we play?

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Minute 20?

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Yeah, Minute 20, after Minute 20. Yeah, and then we
got a special tribute in just a little bit. But first,
Arnold's got an opinion on the sleepover. Hold on a second.
What's up, Arnold? You're on the air.

Speaker 9 (03:56):
Hey, good morning.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Morning. Go ahead.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
What's up?

Speaker 9 (04:02):
Oh, all right.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
So, uh, yeah, no, there's a, there's a, you know,
an odd debate, you know, about that.

Speaker 9 (04:08):
It's fine. If, uh, you know, if I guess in
my case, you know, my wife and, you know, another female,
you know, sleeps in the bed with them, you know,
opposed to me.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
I don't really care.

Speaker 9 (04:18):
Like I said, my situation is, uh, You know, my
wife's got a best friend that they've known since.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
I knew my wife.

Speaker 9 (04:24):
And, you know, every time they get together, you know,
they live out of town.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
So they're separated. So whenever they're together, you know, they
have fun. And then, you know, usually they'll go out
or something. And the next thing you know, I'm probably
hanging out on the couch or something. Or maybe I'll
go and do something.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
And then.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
You know, they'll sleep on the bed, and I said, well,
there goes my spot.

Speaker 9 (04:45):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
First, I thought you said your wife has a friend
come over and sleep next to you in the bed.
I'm like, well, that would be weird.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
Oh, yeah, no, yeah, that wouldn't be, that would be,
I don't think she'll approve of that.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Yeah, I imagine not.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
Yeah, so, yeah, usually that's what happens. It happened most recently.

Speaker 9 (05:04):
You know, we went out to catch up, and then
they got, they left before I did from the bar,
and then when I got home, You know, my spot
was taken from the friend.

Speaker 6 (05:15):
Like I said, they're like sisters. And I said, well,
I guess I got to go to the couch, you know.
It's pretty much there. But like I said, I don't care.
They're like sisters, you know.

Speaker 7 (05:23):
Got it.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
Ain't no funny business. It is how it is.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
That's how it is. That's what we're talking about. Thanks, Arnold.
Thanks for listening. So it's 9-11. And I've been thinking
a lot about, this is random, but Noah, our very
own Noah, our audio ninja, you know, he was in
New York for the Harry Styles concert, and he's in
New York on 9-11. And I was thinking about, I
don't know how old Noah is. You guys know how
old Noah is?

Speaker 9 (05:46):
24?

Speaker 5 (05:46):
Sure. 23, 24?

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Right in that realm. He wasn't even born yet.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
He wasn't even born yet.

Speaker 8 (05:50):
Yeah, because it's the 25th anniversary today.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
And then I see this. The article says it's a
quarter of a century since the September 11th attacks. It's
hard to wrap your head around it if you're a boomer,
a Gen Xer, or an older millennial. You remember where
you were. But for others, like Noah, he wasn't even
born yet.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
It's just got to be like World War II is
for us. You just care about it.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Here's a list of things that are actually more recent
than 9-11. Like the iPod. The iPod debuted in November
of 2001. Google News launched in September of 2002. Skype
started in 2003. LinkedIn in 2003. Gmail didn't start until 2004. Oh,
that's wild. Google Maps, February 2005. YouTube started in 2005. Podcast,

(06:37):
the term came common in 2004. Podcast was 2005's word
of the year. The iPhone debuted in 2007 and the
Android 2008. Tesla didn't even exist yet. It came out
in 2003 and neither did Uber. Uber came out in 2009.
Think about all these things that have happened since 9-11.
And all of those have changed the world. No Harry

(06:59):
Potter movies that hit theaters yet. No Lord of the
Rings movies that hit theaters yet. Elf is more recent
than 9-11. So is the first Pirates of the Caribbean,
The Notebook, Mean Girls, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Wow. No
one had heard of American Idol, The Office, or Lost
or Grey's Anatomy. Isn't that wild?

Speaker 4 (07:17):
It is kind of wild.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Beyonce's solo career didn't start yet. Kanye West didn't put
out his first album until 2004, and Taylor Swift didn't
debut until 2006.

Speaker 5 (07:25):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Crocs didn't debut until 2002. Nintendo DS wasn't out until 2004.
The Wii didn't hit stores until 2006. No one said
selfie until 2002. Hashtag in 2007. Mansplaining in 2008. And
YOLO in 2011. So those are all things that are
older or younger than 9-11. And Noah Lashley is in

(07:48):
New York right now walking the streets. Noah, what's the
vibe there in New York City today?

Speaker 10 (07:54):
I wasn't even born then.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
That's my favorite thing ever. How old are you now?

Speaker 10 (08:01):
24?

Speaker 9 (08:01):
24.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
I was almost born on 9-11. My mom had to
go in and get some emergency doctor visits to prevent
that from happening because I wasn't ready yet.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Oh, when is your birthday?

Speaker 5 (08:12):
February 15th. I was supposed to be born in March.
I was almost born in September.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Oh, dang. So you being in New York City on 9-11,
can you tell? Like, I don't know if you were
there because I talked to him last night and I
was like, are you going to the memorial? And he said,
it's private.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
It is.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
They shut down pretty much all of lower Manhattan at
10 o'clock last night. We got the last train out of,
we went down there, we went down to the one
world observatory and we went to the reflecting pools to
pay our respects. And they were doing TV interviews and
setting up big stages and whatnot. We got the last
train out of there at nine 55.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
What's it feel like when you walk down there? It
is eerie.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
You feel the pain in the air. Yesterday, it was
quiet and hearts were heavy. Today, the same thing. But today,
the difference is I feel like you feel a lot
of the love and respect too. There's families, there's people
that flew in. We had a drink last night at
a bar with a firefighter from Vancouver who came to

(09:12):
just volunteer and help with the setup. And a whole
crowd formed and they shared memories and the bartender paid
for drinks.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
And It was just really special. Well, I heard at
the memorial today, Obama's going to be there, Bush is
going to be there, Joe Biden's going to be there,
and Trump's going to be at the Pentagon. So New
York is that whole area. You know, when the president comes,
they probably shut that whole thing down. Oh, for sure.
And they're only letting the families, and they're going to
read every person's name that died.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Yeah, I think they did that this morning.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Oh, they already did this morning.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
It's really interesting because we're going to play that tribute,
and it's really interesting, the ones that you hear. It
takes me right back to those moments for us in
the show because we had just started the John Jane
Ridge show months before, right? And we were kind of
planning shows when we started seeing the video and we're like, oh,

(10:02):
everything just changed right now. Everything is different.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Noah, when do you come home?

Speaker 5 (10:08):
Today.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Well, thank you for reporting live from New York City.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Live from the streets of Manhattan.

Speaker 8 (10:17):
Brave to be flying home.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
From New York on today.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
It is an interesting day to be flying home.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
I will say that.

Speaker 9 (10:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
I also am getting on a plane today. Kind of scary.
But we should be fine. Thanks, Noah.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
More power to you.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
God bless.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Bye.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
We need a contestant. We're going to play Minute to
Win at 877-937-1047. Wait for a contestant. By the way,
I found some video footage. This is so crazy that
I found it. And it was like when So 9-11 hit,
and then Rich and I immediately, like a day or
two later, we were on vacation. It was like our
first day of vacation. Yeah, we just canceled it. We

(10:55):
went back to the radio station, and we just stayed
on the air. And I mean, from like 7 a.m. until,
I don't know, days, we were like sleeping there and
doing whatever. And then we came up with the idea
to do this human flag. It was in Tucson. The
human flag came together on September 15th, and it was
just out of control. And I found video of all that.

Speaker 11 (11:13):
Oh, that's cool.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
So I'm putting it together. So I can post it
and you can see how crazy it was. We had
like 30,000 people show up at Tucson electric park and
it was madness, but it was beautiful madness. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (11:24):
Because like nine 11, it was such like a shocking tragedy.
And then afterwards, like, I guess the rainbow after the
storm was like how united America was and how like
everyone wanted to just like help each other and be
there for each other and support one another.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yeah. And also too, it's like the human flag, 30,000
people in that park that we did. It seemed like
it went pretty smoothly.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
That's what I'm saying. It was hot. The fire department
was there. We told people to bring a white shirt,
a blue shirt, and a red shirt. And then we
were like, okay, we got this many people can be white.
This many people can be red. And we put together
this flag, and it kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
And I'll post the video up. What's interesting about the
video is 25 years ago, Rich looks the same. I
look totally different. You sound different. I was hearing the

(12:07):
clip this morning. I'm like, who's that talking? John Jay's like,
that's me. I'm like, why do you sound so different?
I'm like, because I was a child. Yeah. It's all
grown up now. My hair is bleached blonde. It was like,
it was so.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Which was popular at the time.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
So I'll be posting that on my Instagram at John
Jay Van Ness in just a little bit. Also, if
you missed War of the Roses yesterday, if you go
to our Instagram, John Jay and Rich, you can type
in the word roses. We'll send it to you directly
to your phone. It is now time to play minute
to win it. We got $ 1, 000 of Pat Hickey's money.
Pat Hickey's the owner and the general manager of Peoria Ford.
He called me yesterday. He's going in today. Let's say

(12:42):
prayer for Pat. He's going in for a full-body MRI
at Simon Med today. And he asked me if he
had to do the enema. Did you tell him yes,
I hope? I should have. I should have.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
Can't go in there without an enema.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Hi, Stephanie.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Hi.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
What are you doing? Where are you right now?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
I just dropped my kids off at school.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
And where are you? We got a cell phone.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
I am actually parked in the park outside of their school.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
What part of town?

Speaker 12 (13:12):
We're out in like East Mesa.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Oh, okay, good. I just need a visual of where
you are. All right. Is there somebody in the car with.

Speaker 10 (13:18):
You or by yourself?

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I'm by myself.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Oh, you got to.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Turn down the radio a little bit. Turn down the
radio just a little bit because I can hear myself
asking you questions.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Yeah, it's going to confuse you when it's game time.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Right, right, right. So, okay. Are you ready?

Speaker 10 (13:32):
I think so.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Yes, I am. 60 seconds on the clock. $ 1, 000 can
be yours. Okay, Stephanie, let's go. What artist is famous
for her songs, I Kissed a Girl, Hot and Cold,
and Firework?

Speaker 12 (13:51):
Katy Perry.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Jeff Bezos is the founder of what company?

Speaker 10 (14:03):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Why am I having such a brain fart?

Speaker 4 (14:06):
One of the richest guys in the world, Jeff Bezos.
What company did he found? Still works there. Oh.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Amazon.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Duh.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
Which winter sport involves sliding stones on ice towards a target?

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Shuffle.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
I'm sorry. Say it again. Shuffleboard.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Oh, no, Stephanie.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Struggle on that one. That was curling.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
Curling.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Looking for curling.

Speaker 10 (14:42):
Curling.

Speaker 12 (14:43):
That's it.

Speaker 11 (14:45):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
It is like a giant shuffleboard, though. It is, but
that is not the right answer.

Speaker 10 (14:50):
I know.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Shuffleboard is what they should call it.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yeah, ice shuffleboard would be great.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Well, Stephanie.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Awesome.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
I can't believe you stumbled on Jeff Bezos at Amazon.
That's a tough one.

Speaker 12 (15:01):
When the pressure is on.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
I know, right?

Speaker 1 (15:04):
The good news is for you, we have a new
partnership with Del Taco. So you're going to get a
Del Taco gift card.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Oh, awesome.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
All right, so congratulations. Well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
You got it. Thank you for listening. Thank you very
much for listening. Hold on. It's time for our 9-11 tribute.

Speaker 11 (15:23):
This just into our newsroom, a plane has crashed into
the World Trade Center.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Another plane just hit the World Trade Center.

Speaker 10 (15:30):
Two planes have smashed into the tower's minutes apart.

Speaker 5 (15:33):
This plane flew directly into the second World Trade Center.

Speaker 11 (15:37):
We now have reports of a fire at the Pentagon.

Speaker 6 (15:40):
I just watched a plane crash near the Pentagon.

Speaker 9 (15:42):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
The entire World Trade Center, the South Building just fell,
just crumbled from the top.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
The building just disappeared in the smoke. A large plane
crashes in western Pennsylvania.

Speaker 11 (15:54):
If this is indeed connected to what has happened here
this morning, it is quite clear that the United States
is under attack.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
The second building appears to have gone down.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yes, you're absolutely right. The second building that has gone down.

Speaker 11 (16:06):
A situation that started bad just gets worse and worse
and worse. Clearly, we're in the middle of the worst
ever act of terrorism directed at the United States on
domestic soil, and it may not be over.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Hi, are you there? Back?

Speaker 6 (16:23):
Pick up, sweetie.

Speaker 9 (16:25):
Okay, well, I just wanted to tell you I love you.
We're having a.

Speaker 10 (16:28):
Little problem on the plane.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
I want to tell you I love you.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Please tell my children that I love them very much.

Speaker 9 (16:35):
And I'm so sorry, babe.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
I hope to be able to see your face again, baby.

Speaker 11 (16:41):
Okay, Cindy, it's me.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Listen, there's been a major explosion at the World Trade Center.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
We don't know if it's a plane hit us or what.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
We're okay.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
I'm still in the building.

Speaker 10 (16:49):
We're evacuating now.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
I don't know if I'll be heading straight.

Speaker 11 (16:52):
Home or what.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
But I'm okay. We're trying to get groups together now
and get down all the stairs and get out of
the building.

Speaker 11 (17:01):
She didn't run.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
No.

Speaker 11 (17:02):
Who expected a second plane?

Speaker 8 (17:07):
She put everybody first.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
She didn't run because she helped other people.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Today is Patriot Day.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
I'm a patriot.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
Patriot Day.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
I'm a patriot.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
We will never forget 9-11.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Just a note to always remember.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
To always remember. To always remember. Patriot Day was actually
started one year after the attacks on America. Never forget.
It's a day of remembrance and unity. 9-11, Patriot Day.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
A day we will never forget. 25 years ago. Unbelievable.
I just posted right now on my Instagram, and I'll
try to collab with everybody, but I was doing it
right now, of what we did 25 years ago in
Tucson with 30,000 people. It was crazy. So if you

(17:55):
go to John J. Rich, or I'm sorry, go to
my John J. Van S on Instagram, you can see it.
I'm telling you guys, when you watch this video, and Rich,
I don't think you've seen the video since we did it, right?

Speaker 4 (18:05):
I don't believe so, no.

Speaker 9 (18:06):
It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
I heard you listening to it, and of course, it
feels like yesterday, but I have not seen it.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Good morning, Jen. You're on the air.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Good morning.

Speaker 8 (18:17):
Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
That tribute was so heartfelt and so moving and necessary
and needed for today. I love it, and I wanted
to make sure you guys knew that, and I really, really,
really wanted to see if it was okay to acknowledge
and put on the radio my best friend. Can I

(18:39):
give a shout-out to my best friend?

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Sure.

Speaker 7 (18:43):
My best friend, Sarah, is one of the most thoughtful
and caring people in the whole world, and she.
Makes a difference in so many people's lives and I
just I wanted to give a special shout out to
her today everybody needs a little love and I wanted

(19:05):
to make sure I gave her a little and it
was on the radio okay we understand and you know
she's just she uh sorry I know I'm just I
wouldn't be where I am without her today okay.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Well thank you Jen I'm sure Sarah was like on
tower two maybe No?

Speaker 3 (19:27):
What?

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Has nothing to do with 9-11, Sarah? She's just out
there making a difference.

Speaker 8 (19:31):
No, I feel like a day like today just makes
you remember that you have to tell your loved ones
you love them when you're here.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
That's true. Because that's what you hear in that tribute
when you hear people calling from the building and saying, hey,
I don't know if I'm coming home.

Speaker 10 (19:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
I don't know, but I love you. It makes you think,
you just don't know when your last minute is.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
And we should do that all the time.

Speaker 8 (19:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Good morning. You're on the air.

Speaker 10 (19:52):
Hi, good morning.

Speaker 12 (19:53):
So I just messaged your team. Sorry, I'm a little
bit emotional today. My dad, he was a fireman my
whole life. He's retired now. I'm from Denver, and he
led the team of volunteers from Denver that went to

(20:13):
the 9-11 cleanup.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
He actually.

Speaker 12 (20:19):
Led the team when they were coming back from the return.
I'm the youngest of six girls in my family, and
there was a photo that the news crew took of
me and two of my sisters running up to my
dad that was posted on the front of the Denver
Post when um, they returned from the cleanup.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Dang.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
How's your dad's health? Did he, is he one of
those people that suffered from all the, that toxic air
or is he okay?

Speaker 10 (20:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (20:48):
Um, so he developed emphysema from, from being at the
cleanup and then some of his close buddies, um, have
passed away from cancer that they, uh, developed from the
cleanup as well. Um, as long as, or as well as, uh,
PTSD and a whole bunch of stuff. So I just

(21:12):
wanted to get on the air and just think about
my dog. I just wanted to thank all of the
volunteers and everybody that we're thinking about today that helped
with that. And we're involved in that.

Speaker 10 (21:24):
All right.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Well, thank you for calling. Thanks for listening.

Speaker 10 (21:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (21:29):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Man, that's wild. So many people participated in helping me.
I remember that was such a crazy time. So crazy.
I can't believe that was 25 years ago. That's what
blows me away. 25 years ago. Okay, I'm going to
shift gears. I'm going to make a total right turn here.
Are you ready? Yeah. We got Kanye West tickets. Chance

(21:52):
the Rapper tickets. Wait, hold on a second. We got
tickets to Disneyland online in about 20 minutes. And we
are going to get into What Aaron Rodgers did yesterday
was all over the place. That's crazy. Hold on. Roxy,
go ahead. You're on the air.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Hi, good morning, guys. I listen to you guys every day.

Speaker 10 (22:15):
Happy Friday.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I just wanted to thank you for the amazing tribute
that you played. I was driving to work right now
and I'm just in tears. Just thinking about, I mean,
you know, of course, every year we remember you. But
for some reason, like, listening to that tribute and listening
to those voicemails just really hit me because it took

(22:38):
me back to when it happened. I was on my
way to work. I worked for the county in Orange
Probation Department, and I was only 19. And I was like,
what is going on, you know? And got to work.
Everyone was, like, just everything was chaotic at the office.
And it just took me back there. And just hearing...

(22:59):
Hearing all those voicemails and everything that happened, it just
really hit me hard this morning, just remembering all of them.
So thank you so much for playing that. And I
am going to go to your Instagram and check out
the human flag you did in Tucson. That sounds really awesome.

(23:20):
I just wanted to share that.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Well, thank you, Roxy. Thanks for listening.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Thank you so much. Oh, one last thing, John Jay.
The last person gave a shout out to their friend.
If I could just please give a shout out to
my best friend, Erica, who listens to you guys faithfully too.
Happy Friday, sis. Love you.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
All right.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Have a great day, everyone.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
You too. So sweet.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
On Instagram, John Jay Van Ness, you can see the
video of us putting together the human flag 25 years ago.
It was crazy. So John Jay Van Ness on Instagram.
