Speaker 1 (00:00):
The next segment we're going.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
To do is called Second Date Update because that's what
we're going to try and get, and that's what the
bit is called.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Second Date Update starts right now on John Jay.
Speaker 4 (00:10):
And Ridge for Second Dight Updates. Doug, someone's blown off, Doug, Doug,
what's your story?
Speaker 5 (00:15):
Welcome, Hey guys, good morning. So okay, if I'm pulling,
because I'm honestly just really confused. To be honest, I
went on this date with this girl, and I swear
it went great. It really did. When we were texting
before the date, she told me she's super adventurous and
likes doing fun stuff like plans, you know, booked one
(00:39):
of those those escape room type things where people go
and just kind of have fun. It's like a big
game type stuff. And it was seriously so fun, you
know what I mean. Like we worked really well together.
We would joke in the whole time. She's super outgoing,
she's clever, she's witty. There wasn't any awkward silence, no
weird energy, nothing, you know. After we talked for a bit,
(01:01):
even hugged and we kissed. It was really cool and
we kissed goodbye and everything seemed normal and now I'm like,
what the heck, nothing happened.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Nothing.
Speaker 5 (01:10):
I texted her the next day saying I had a
great time and haven't heard back at all. I'm just bummed, honestly.
That's why I'm calling you, guys, because I don't feel
like I did anything wrong, and I don't know how
to go from such a good time to total complete silence.
Speaker 6 (01:26):
Yeah, that seems weird, unless well, I mean you can
feel the vibe, because like some people are escape room
people and game people, and some people are not really
into like that type of activity.
Speaker 7 (01:36):
Date.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
But if you said you were feeling such great vibes,
I don't necessarily know, unless like she had an ex
boyfriend come back in her life, right she decided, or
she's dating multiple people and she just decided she had
a stronger connection with someone else.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Because I automatically not with the escape room. Maybe I
was like, Okay, maybe you were a little too intense,
you know, because sometimes people are game people and sometimes
they aren't. But it's like you, guys kissed and hugged after.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
That, confusing.
Speaker 8 (02:04):
That's the problem. He's a bad kiss.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
You or her or something?
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Lizard lips?
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Did you or her poop in the escape room yet scared.
Speaker 9 (02:16):
No, no, none of that, nothing like that.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
No, I just saw this meaning about that. Do you
guys see the meme?
Speaker 6 (02:21):
First of my stories about an escape room?
Speaker 4 (02:24):
He goes, When I was a kid, I got so
scared I pooped the escape room. My brother will never
let me down. He always brings it up. My brother
had to have brain surgery the other day and there
was a good chance to forget his memory, and he goes,
I just got this text, and the textas I'm out
of surgery, and I still remember. You crapped your past, buddy.
(02:44):
It's hilarious. All right, Doug, let's call her. We'll find
out why she's pulling you out. What's her name? All right,
We're gonna get Janelle on the phone and find out
why she's blowing you off. Second date update continues next
with John Jay Ridge for the middle second update. Doug
and Janelle.
Speaker 8 (03:02):
Well, Doug and Janelle had a first date that ended
up with a long kiss in a hug. Doug took
his date to an escape room. But the only thing
Janelle is escaping is an entire future relationship with Doug altogether,
because she's goosta up.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Let's find out.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Why yeh, Because Doug, you said, the day is going great.
Everything went great, right, everything went great.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
It was the energy was there, the vibes were right,
and I just don't.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Know what happened. All right, let's get it. Let's get
her on right now, let's get her. Hello, Janelle, you're
(03:50):
on the radio, John day Rich can we talk you
on the air?
Speaker 10 (03:53):
Uh yeah, sure, Okay.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
So here's the deal. We got a call from a
guy that went on a date with you. He said
that it was fantastic like that there was a chemistry.
You were laughing, joking, had a great time. But he
feels that you're blowing him off. And from what we gather,
if everything he says is true, we can't figure out
why you're blowing him off. We have some assumptions, but
we thought we'd just call you and just hear it
from you. We're talking about Doug, shut up, Doug, and
(04:22):
Doug dig Doug, what's that from?
Speaker 6 (04:24):
And Doug that's commercials that insurance commercial?
Speaker 4 (04:34):
And Doug, Doug, you have a mustache, word glasses and
carry lema with him.
Speaker 10 (04:40):
So Doug called you, I'm dead, Yeah, yeah, I'm literally dying. Yeah,
So I mean I'll tell you what happened. This is
so stupid, like for just the preface, it's dumb. And
I totally know that he was great. The date was
so fun. We actually had a really good time. He
took me an escape room and it was so fun.
(05:03):
But I literally I had this one intrusive thought that
I could not shake, like the whole time. It just
was killing me. So like, yeah, his name is Doug,
and I'm sorry, but like that's a dog's name, Like
it's Doug is a dog's name. And We're in the
escape room and I'm like, Doug, come here, Come here, Doug.
And then I'm like, oh my god, like I'm calling
to a Golden Retriever and it's like it's funny because
(05:25):
like he totally has that Golden Retriever energy and it
just I tried so hard to get over it, but
every time I said his name, it just was ticking
me out. I know, it's like not rational, but I
just could not unhear it, and like hello dog, like
(05:49):
the little like Doug Day's guys sad. Yeah, So after that,
I was like, oh my god, like I can't and
then I didn't know what to say, and so then
I ghosted and yeah, it's stupid. I know I'm horrible.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
So that's it. Like you legitimately cannot see a life
with a guy named Doug because his name is Doug.
Speaker 10 (06:10):
Yeah, I don't know. It just cked me out. Once
you get the ick, it's like, yeah, no, I get it,
I get it.
Speaker 11 (06:15):
You're out.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Well, I wonder how Doug feels about that. Dougg You know, Doug.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
You should be like, don't I know you.
Speaker 10 (06:27):
Were on the phone.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Yeah, yeah, here I am.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yeah, are you sitting?
Speaker 4 (06:36):
You're a good boy.
Speaker 9 (06:39):
Like I'm actually kind of laughing now here in the story.
It's silly, but like the second you said it, I
got it. Like I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 8 (06:46):
Maybe you gotta maybe you need like a cool te
t bone name or something like that, like a nickname
that she can call you instead of Doug.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Do you have a middle name?
Speaker 10 (06:54):
You liked him? I just like I could not get
out of my head every time I thought of you
after that.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
You should middle names? Scruffy, No, do you have a
middle name? No?
Speaker 5 (07:05):
No, I mean no, it's it's no. She's got a
good point.
Speaker 9 (07:08):
Doug is a very family dog that lives to be
fourteen names exactly all right together?
Speaker 4 (07:15):
You guys are kid. Do you want to go out again?
Or no? You just can't do it because of the
Doug name. Can come Doogie d d.
Speaker 12 (07:21):
Man's middle name?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
If it's not scruffy, what's.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
Your middle name? Don't buy that.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
I actually have an idea. Hear me, hear me out.
You know what about if we.
Speaker 9 (07:29):
Go on another date but you call me Douglass, you
actually call me my my legit name.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
A town in southern Arizona.
Speaker 10 (07:38):
Okay, wait, but that's actually kind of hot.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yeah, by switch all right, I don't know.
Speaker 10 (07:47):
I feel like I don't know how to explain it,
but that's actually kind of working on me.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
They are for special that's good.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Who wasn't even offended?
Speaker 3 (07:57):
He's just like, all right, let's roll with this living retriever?
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Good, all right, good, they're a successful second d update.
You guys go out again with Douglas, Janelle and Douglas.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Look you want to week maybe perfect do it?
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (08:11):
No, I think I'm in and I will not go
see this time. I swear.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Doug. Does anybody here know why the limu is called?
It's Limu emu No, do you know why because it
rhymes no. It took me a long time. I figured
it out. Liberty mutual l im limu limu.
Speaker 12 (08:34):
That's clever.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
I like that. I like it too. Yeah. Good marketing
people and Doug. Yeah all right, Doug. Thank you guys
for going on there with us.
Speaker 13 (08:43):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
All right. That's second dight update.
Speaker 12 (08:46):
Guys, this world.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
We got what's called the drunk down Line. You call
six oh two eight eight eight nineteen thirty three. You
can leave us a voicemail. You can also download the
free iHeartRadio up and tap on the microphone what's called
a talkback. Okay, here's a couple.
Speaker 10 (09:03):
Hey John dan Rich, it's my daughter's twenty first birthday.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
And we're leaving a voicemail.
Speaker 8 (09:09):
So we are just seeing cute calling him, just saying
hi and that we love you so much.
Speaker 14 (09:14):
I've been kisses by.
Speaker 7 (09:17):
Man.
Speaker 9 (09:18):
Happy birthday, Hey, Michelle and Raleigh spiders.
Speaker 12 (09:24):
Okay, husband calls me downstairs. We have a two story house.
The bottom parts open, He tells me.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
Look up at the.
Speaker 12 (09:33):
Bottom of the stairs.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
I look up, and y'all, this fighter could have covered
my face.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
It was huge.
Speaker 12 (09:40):
I don't know what I could do was stand down
and go.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Bye, y'all have a good day.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
No closure on that we need closure.
Speaker 12 (09:49):
Was probably pasted out.
Speaker 15 (09:50):
Yeah, many spiders are really scary, you know. There was
that we were and my wife and I were in
the hot tub and the p was flying by her
and I go, hey, a bee by you and she's like,
I'll break down.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
And then she threw water on it and it landed
on the thing. I go, oh, we gotta you, gotta
let it go. I've heard how important bees are. And
then she goes shoot and she pushes it into the
pool and she goes, well, now it's got to learn
how to swim, she says. I'm like, and I'm like,
we gotta save that bee. So I freaking jump in
the pool with a leaf. Yeah, be on a leaf
(10:22):
and like tready water take you to the edge. And
I also got to make sure it doesn't bite me.
So I'm like, oh, sting me. So I'm gonna swim
over and I put it down and then it like,
I wait, blow on it, and then it takes off
and it flew off.
Speaker 8 (10:35):
Felt that bee doesn't feel like a blast fernace on
the the knows I saved this light.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
I know how important it is.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
Well, I know it's see in our house. Whenever you
save a bee in the pool, now you have good
bee karma. So the next time you're around bees, they
won't sting it.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Oh that's nice.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I always heard that, like if a bee dies or
you kill a bee, that it like lets out in
aroma and then it tells like it's bee brothers and
sisters to come.
Speaker 7 (10:56):
And mess you up.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
There's a there's a thing about bees, how extremely important
they are, more than ever. In fact, my friend Greg,
his baby mama is a like a very very well
known professor at ASU that studies that. Oh really there's
something like big time.
Speaker 12 (11:13):
How true this is?
Speaker 6 (11:14):
But I saw something on Instagram, so, like I said,
I don't know how true it is. But in Australia
they're actually studying b venom as a form of like
cancer treatment for breast cancer.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Well that makes sense because they've studied scorpion venom for that.
Speaker 12 (11:27):
Save the bees, Save the bees.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
I wonder what if, just for fun, guys, I call
Greg yeah and talk.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
To him about his baby mama, gregor.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Greg, I'll take for you.
Speaker 8 (11:38):
I think bees are precious wasps though the a holes
up the bug.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
They're kind of they're kind of rude.
Speaker 8 (11:44):
Yeah, this is unbelieve.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Nine. You think it'll work, because it won't work?
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Hello, Greg Batterson, Sorry, mister, please give the master to tell.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Phone who died. I'm trying to call you on the air.
Can you pick up? I'm trying to call you on
my in the studio.
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Somebody died, But like what if somebody actually died? That
would be pretty sad.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
I'd rather Hello.
Speaker 7 (12:37):
Does he have that block where you can't have like
unn numbers call you?
Speaker 3 (12:48):
How do you not call him?
Speaker 11 (12:48):
Girt?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Nice? Nice? Hey? I was just talking about how long
story short, But I saved a bee that was in
our pool because I heard bees are really important and
that I remember. I remember that I believe And for
lack of a better phrase, your baby, mama is a
big week. Is a big week in the bee world?
Am I right? A believer? Can you explain it? What
she does? So?
Speaker 14 (13:11):
She is a brilliant mathematician and a scientist. She has
a PhD in applied mathematics, and she's using all of
that knowledge to try and stop b colony collapse, which
means that the large colonies of bees where you're.
Speaker 11 (13:29):
Critical to everything we eat in the world. Sixty percent
of the food we eat requires polonization. And these big
bee colonies are collapsing and they're trying to find out
why and how to keep the bees from bleeding the earth.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
See, so please tell your baby mama you're welcome.
Speaker 8 (13:48):
What about that truckle a few weeks ago that like
had a million bees in the South that turned over
and all the bees just got released.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Do you hear about that?
Speaker 4 (13:57):
I didn't.
Speaker 11 (13:58):
That sounds good though, Oh that's good.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
So please tell your baby mama you're welcome.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
To be here.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
You're welcome.
Speaker 11 (14:08):
So this is this is the point of interest you guys,
the colonies and how helpful.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
I just was telling this story about how I saved
the bee, and then I was as I was telling
I remember that you were somehow be related.
Speaker 11 (14:20):
I thought you were going to call a different b story,
but I'm not sure it's appropriate for the you know,
radio audience.
Speaker 14 (14:26):
Remember when Ange was in the pool and you were
screaming about a bee on the French The French exchange
student no excitely afraid of bees and allergic to be
kind of like you know, she had her top off
on the back but still covered.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
I don't remember that. I don't I don't remember that,
and I don't remember. But that's a great story.
Speaker 11 (14:51):
This is complete DS. You do remember. That was a
great day.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
So what happened? I say, there's a bee?
Speaker 11 (14:57):
And then she stood up and entertain and she like
freaked o out and jumped up and then we're just both.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Is this tenth grade or younger? Older?
Speaker 8 (15:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (15:07):
I think it was like seventh or eighth grade.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
That's good stuff. Where's Oje? Now?
Speaker 11 (15:13):
I have no idea we should reach out.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Is she Joe? That would be great. No, I swear
on my life, I don't remember an. I don't remember that.
I swear. Wow, I know, brother, I'll talk to you later.
I remember so many I don't remember an. I remember
what he's talking about. He does that a lot. He
has this like history where he brings up like I
think he was with other people.
Speaker 12 (15:34):
Got a good memory.
Speaker 8 (15:35):
Then maybe I think you're starting to forget things like Kyle,
I would remember that.
Speaker 12 (15:39):
I thought I would remember a guy whipping up.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Right by you, though.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
I think I would remember like being a teenager and
seeing breast for the first time. You know what I mean?
Speaker 12 (15:52):
Said it was your first time?
Speaker 4 (15:53):
He didn't say it was the first time, or we're
seeing breast as a teenager, I would remember. I don't
think that the only breast I can remember seeing as
a teenager. Just to let you know, it was my
annir seat. I walked in on her and she had
her top off and I was mortified. Ye see, this
is what's wrong with your brain as you remember that,
but you don't remember. That's why.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
That's why you need to have your brain study to
get it.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
I swear on my life, I don't remember that story.
And I didn't know where he was going with the
deals like my god of my Rolodex, and memories like
what's she talking about this? There's lots of other things
that have happened. They were horrible that he could have said,
but he didn't. Anyway, good talk. That's the drunk down line.
Speaker 12 (16:29):
Is the tecular.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
If you're listening to our show right now, we really
need to pay attention to Sydney. She needs help. Okay,
So what do you need help with?
Speaker 13 (16:41):
Okay? So just to preface, I have you on speaker
because my girlfriend and I are here together and she
needs to hear you as well.
Speaker 11 (16:47):
I know you hate that.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
No, but it sounds good, so I wouldn't know that
you're on speaker right now. You sound good. Okay.
Speaker 13 (16:51):
So my girlfriend's son plays piano, and his piano was
playing like a preprogrammed song, and we heard this melody
that we cannot, for the life of us figure out
what song it reminds us of. So I would like
to hum the melody to you guys and see if
any of you can help us.
Speaker 10 (17:08):
Figure it out.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
Now.
Speaker 13 (17:09):
We did hum it to Google, which is like a
cool feature they have which has worked for us in
the past, but it didn't bring up anything like any
recognizable songs. There is one song that it brought up
that sounds close, but I don't recall ever hearing that song,
so I don't think that's it, and I don't want
to tell you what it is because once you hear
that song.
Speaker 10 (17:29):
You can't get that out of your head.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Okay, here's what we're gonna do. You hum it, okay,
and then we will let our audience listen and they
can call in and we can all help together guess
what song it is? Okay?
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Perfect?
Speaker 4 (17:43):
Go ahead, Sydney.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
No no, no, no no no.
Speaker 13 (17:53):
Now I will say the most important part is that
beginning and the last part, the middle part we kind
of just we're not I'm not confident about But the
most important part that's driving us crazy is Donna Na No.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
No, okay, we can't well, I don't know what it is,
okay eight seven, seven ninety three seven one o four seven.
Every line is lit up with guesses, so we're just
gonna take each one and then we'll see. Okay, So
let's see, Alyssa, good morning. Yes. What song do you
think it is?
Speaker 10 (18:21):
I think it's Go the Distance by Michael Bolton from
the Hercules movie.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
This is where I'm meant to be.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
I will find my way.
Speaker 12 (18:32):
I can go the distance.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
I'll be there someday if I can be strong.
Speaker 10 (18:39):
Kayla, So mine is really niche.
Speaker 13 (18:44):
I think it is Baptizer from the Broadway musical.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
The Book of Mormon.
Speaker 12 (18:49):
I can't believe I'm about to baptize her.
Speaker 9 (18:54):
He will baptime.
Speaker 12 (18:57):
You love me his easy will.
Speaker 7 (19:01):
That tis.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Right in front of everyone, and he will testy.
Speaker 12 (19:09):
Lenny looks at you.
Speaker 6 (19:12):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Okay, hold on, that was my guess. There's another Alyssa
that has got a guess. Alyssa, what's your guest.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
I also thought it was Go to Distance from the
Hercules Disney movie.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Okay, hold on you, Lila or Leela, are you there?
I will find my way.
Speaker 10 (19:28):
I think it's the Hercules Goes to Distance.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
I will find my way.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
And it's not my guest. That's not your guest, I think.
Speaker 8 (19:36):
So Okay, she said it's on an automatic player piano,
so I figured it's doing songs, but not current songs.
I think it's Celine diond that's the way it is.
Speaker 7 (19:49):
Easy way okay.
Speaker 9 (20:07):
No no no, no.
Speaker 11 (20:10):
No no no no, no no no.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Sounds like a TV show.
Speaker 13 (20:16):
I think I'm thinking of Hercules. So I feel I
feel somewhat satisfied with the whole Hercules thing, but maybe
there's something else.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
Than What's disappointing is is we did not get a
difficult We.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Did not get a complete answer. So if anyone knows,
continue to call us and let us know.
Speaker 13 (20:59):
Yeah, there is to hear other ideas as well. But
I do feel like we're getting close, and I do.
I personally feel somewhat satisfied with the Hercules one, but
my girlfriend is not fully satisfide.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
Hi, this is Sarah.
Speaker 11 (21:11):
We think that's reminding us of a different song.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
It's a piano that's programmed, there would be somewhere in
the piano then you could look it up, right, So can.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
We do that?
Speaker 13 (21:20):
But but I don't know if it's the piano that

Dion and Hercules. I'm screaming at the radio and pure
frustration because I knew it was neither of those. Hi,
