Speaker 1 (00:00):
On our Facebook. We got something pretty active going on.
We want to know who did you know before they
were famous? Eight seven, seven, nine three seven, one oh
four seven, Mike, who do you know before they were famous?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Leonardo DiCaprio.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Yeah, that's huge, don't you know him?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
So me and my me and my best friend Will.
It was a summer camp YMCA summer camp at Katalina Island.
So we went to the summer camp. We didn't know anybody.
We came out of Riverside, California to Catalina. Knew nobody.
Ended up being put in the same cavin as Leonardo
(00:35):
DiCaprio and a group of his friends.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
How cool?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah he was. He was a cool dude. He was
a ladies man back then. Just grew him as Leo.
And it wasn't a few years later that I was
watching television and saw him on the TV and I
was like, oh my god, it's Leo.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
So he started out I think out Growing Pains, right,
is that was it after? It was before Growing Pains?
Speaker 2 (00:55):
It was before it was even before that. This is
like nineteen eighty eight. I think we were about twelve
somewhere around there. Wow, I know they thought commercials that
they his friends were talking about. His dad was some
director or something. I don't know too much about it,
but yeah, he was a There's a lot of cool
stories from that that week. I mean, it could go
on and on, but it was. It was a good time.
(01:16):
He was a good dude.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
That's so cool. Have you connected with him sense at all?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
No, not at all. It's it's nothing like that. But
I do have some stories. You want to hear some
stories from the of course what you got. The one
thing I can tell you is we had one night
we were right the first cabin right on the water.
There was a break water wall and then it was ocean.
So every night we would go have like group activities
(01:41):
or whatever, and then we'd come back down to the beach.
So there was a cellboat that was off the beach
and it kept shining on the spotlight all across all
of the all of the cabins there. So I believe
it was Leo's idea. He jumped up. He's like, hey,
this all get on the breakwater and moon him. So
we all jumped down on the breakwater. Light goes around,
(02:01):
comes across everybody on the breakwaters just moaning this boat.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
It was.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
It was pretty hysterical.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
You know what's funny is that we've had Leonardo DiCaprio
on the show before and he was great.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
He was really great.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
If we ever get him again, I bet you we
would just knock his socks off. We're like, oh, hey,
how about that YMCA camp of Cataline Island.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah, he would remember that.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah, we had we had a camp skit that we did. Also,
we did I don't know if you know the old
Saturn Live, but it was Hans and Frans were here
to pump you up.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Yeah, so he did that.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Our whole skit on that. Everybody wore life jackets. I
was a bigger kid and I had to wear a
life jacket, so they were all pumped up. But yeah,
it was. There was a lot of good stories. He
was the late from that back then. I think he
was with within a week he was with the two
hottest girls at the the camp.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Hey man, that commercial money, Mike, Yeah, thanks for sharing
that with this brother.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I thank you, guys.
Speaker 3 (02:55):

I'm sorry, I'm fangirling because I've been listening to it
for twenty years. Okay, I'm good. Yes, I actually hired
Taylor Swift for a few corporate incentive groups back in
my event planning days in two thousand and eight. Yeah, yeah,
(03:20):
I believe it or not, for ten thousand dollars. She
was the cocktail reception entertainment so far before she released
her first album, and at the time I was like,
who what, But well, I actually hired her twice in
two thousand eight her again, Well you know she was cheap.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Have you had performance?
Speaker 4 (03:49):

so I think I had. I maybe had a BlackBerry.
Speaker 3 (03:57):

our song was already what was that?
Speaker 6 (04:12):
I'm sorry, Oh, I.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Was just saying her song, our song was already out
by then, so to be able to hear that live
before she blow first, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
I just looked up our song with September ninth, two
thousand and seven, which is crazy.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Well she called us in two thousand and six. Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
I mean, and I think because I didn't listen to country,
it was like, sure, okay, yeah, so that's my my story.
It's a great story looking back, doesn't it make you
like respect Taylor Swift's hustle?
Speaker 5 (04:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Watch your documentary.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
You see that.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
I wish I had gotten a picture and an autograph.
It was on a pixelated BlackBerry.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
You see her mom and her brother set up the
stage and getting water and doing all this stuff like
you see it happening. Yeah, totally, she's Yeah, she was great.
That's very cool, Nicole. Thank you for sharing that with us.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
I know, the two the biggest stars.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Whatever you call about after this is not as big
as Tennis and Leonardo.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
De Gaby's true.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I mean, those the two biggest stars in the world.
So end of segment. Ah, it's John Jay and Rich.
It's John Jay and Rich. Who did you know before
they were famous, we already got Taylor Swift and Leonardo DiCaprio.
(05:38):
I mean, come on, Carrie, Carrie, who'd you hey, who'd
you meet before they were famous. You don't know who'd
you meet?
Speaker 5 (05:46):

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Do you know? What else? What's up?
Speaker 7 (05:47):
I didn't know. Yeah, I didn't know. And but I
met Tupac back way.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Back in the day before he was famous.
Speaker 7 (05:55):
So way back of the day in nineteen ninety, I'm fourteen,
I'm going to this concert and the headliner was Digital Underground.
Me and my friends got backstage. I don't know if
many members Sam dating myself pretty old, but anyway, me
and my friends got backstage, and so we're hanging out
with everybody we can backstage, just taking pictures and having
a blast, getting autographed all that, and there's Tupac. I
(06:17):
did not know who he was, but I'm like, hey,
start talking to him, and he was just very nice,
very centered and calm. And I asked for his autograph.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Didn't know who he was, but he.
Speaker 7 (06:27):
Wrote it out and the way he wrote it out
it looked like a Z and then a PAC and
I said the tech I kind of laughed, like no,
He's like no. I'm like, oh, okay. So I got
a picture, and I just remember he was very different
than everybody else. I didn't know really who he was.
I just knew he was with Digital Unergram and he
was very nice, very mature, very calm and centered, not
(06:51):
acting no fool like everybody else and myself included.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
You.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
Still I do. I found it. I found the picture
and the auto recently going through my lol necause on
the block journal.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
I love to see that picture. That's cool, very cool.
Speaker 7 (07:13):

Speaker 3 (07:34):
She sent us a picture. Kristen, who did you know
before they were famous?
Speaker 6 (07:38):
I I met Noah Wiley when we were both thirteen
years old. We had lunch together with his stepdad and
my mom and a few other people. But it was
just it was he was the cutest little boy named Noah,
and I just had such a little He's darling. And
then years later I looked him up, and I thought,
you know, when the Internet happened, I looked him up,
(07:59):
and I thought, God, was this Noah Cat's kid? Did
he ever turn into someone? And there was no Noah Cat.
So I looked up a stepdad, Robert Katz, and I
saw that he had a step son named Noah Wiley,
who went on to er et cetera. And I was like,
oh my god, I had lunch with Noah Wiley and
I didn't even know it.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
No Wiley is the star of the pit right now,
which is they calling it one of the best shows
ever made that I.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Can't get through it.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I think it's tough for me to sit through it.
But that's one that's a very cool. Uh, that's a
very cool lunch you had. So was your mom hooking
up with her with his stepdad?
Speaker 5 (08:31):
No, No, it was his stepdad was staying at a
hotel in town where they were filming a movie, and
she had you know, she knew that I was a
thirteen year old girl who would love to meet a
cute thirteen year old boy.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
And it's fun to think that I exist in his
consciousness somewhere.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah. Is Robert Katz famous?
Speaker 6 (08:49):
He was a producer I don't know if he's still around,
but he is a producer in the eighties as far
as I know.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
Well, thank you for sharing that story.
