Meryl Streep shared she asked for double her salary for 'Devil Wears Prada 2' and was shocked to get it -- a lesson she's just now learning!

you know how to ask for what's your worth? And
why do you bring it up?

Because Meryl Streep is doing press for the Devil Wars
product too. It's the number one movie in America seventy
seven million opening weekend. But back in two thousand and six,
when producers first offered her the role of Miranda Priestley,
Meryl said no, she told Jenna Bush on Today this week,
she said, I said no, I'm not going to do it.

She turned it down to see if they would double
her salary and guess what they did. They did right away.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
They called me up and they made an offer, and
I said no, and I wanted to see if I
doubled my ask and they went right away and said sure.
And I thought, I'm fifty sixty.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Took me this long to understand that I could do that.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
So reports say that her original offer was around two
point five million dollars. She walked away with five. But
basically she said they needed me.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
I was.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
She was ready to retire. But the moral of the
story is that she was fifty six years old, and
she's just kind of like, it took me this long
in my life.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Really to realize the worth and stand up for it. Yeah,
ask for the order, ask for your worth. And I
want to see that movie so badly. You have no
idea too. My boys were my buddies and I were
going to go see it.

My friends went opening night and said was amazing.
