Speaker 1 (00:00):
So here's something interesting before we get into Ryan's ross.
People are faking being students. Why are they doing it?
Why are people faking being students.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Because of all the perks. One thing I miss of
not being a student at San Diego State was all
of the student discounts that you would get because you're
enrolled at a college or you're just a student in general.
So people are actually enrolling in a single class at
a community college and paying the small enrollment fee just
to get a valid school email or the school ID.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Are they taking classes too?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I mean maybe they go and they take the class,
or they don't take the class, it doesn't matter. But
the benefit that they're seeing is that they're getting huge
discounts on things like events, concert tickets. I mean, we
all know concert tickets are so expensive right now. So
some ticket sites are occasionally offering pricing for students, and
companies like Ticketmasters say if the show does have a

(00:52):
student discount, it'll pop up on the drop down menu
for you to click on, and then if you're a student,
you get like fifty percent off or like a huge
discount on these concert tickets.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Okay, what I don't think enough before I speak and
this is a case where I'm not thinking enough before
I say this. I kind of like its entrepreneurial cleverness.
I kind of like that they are. I mean, whoever
you are doing this, that you're clever enough to figure
out the loophole and exploit the loophole. I mean, I

(01:22):
don't know, is that bad?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
No, I don't think it is. And technically it is
not illegal because you are enrolled in that college and
you are a student.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
You know, there's something called street smarts. Yeah, that's street
smarts for sure. That is what that is. There's IQ
and EQ, that's EQ.

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
