People Are Going Nuts Over Those Starbucks 'Bearista' Cups

Starbucks dropped that adorable limited-edition “Bearista” cup last Thursday and people are going nuts trying to get their hands on one or selling them for big bucks.

It’s a glass cup shaped like a little bear holding a Starbucks drink and it has this cute green beanie lid.

It sold out almost immediately and now resellers online are asking insane prices, anywhere from around $170 all the way up to over $1,000 for a cup that originally cost about 30 bucks.

There were even claims that some Starbucks employees snagged them before customers could, which only made the frenzy worse.

And of course, because the hype is real, dupe culture kicked in.

Now there are look-alike bear cups popping up on Amazon and Walmart for like 20 bucks. They look super similar.

Starbucks said they sent out a huge amount of these cups, more than almost any other holiday item but even with that massive stock they still couldn’t keep up.

Have you heard these are at Starbucks. The bar East
is b E R EASTA right, cops, right.

Yes. They came out last Thursday and they sold out
in minutes, like they were gone. A lot of people
were actually blaming some of the employees. There was claims
that employees were snagging them before customers could. There was chaos,
it was a frenzy. It was people getting in fights,
long lines, like all the things.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
But these bear cups. I don't know why this happens.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
It is insanity to me.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
It's like my honey, squeezer.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yeah, that's exactly what it looks like. But everybody wanted
them to cost about like thirty dollars, and now they're
selling them everywhere for like one hundred. And they're basically
reselling them for I saw ones for one seventy. I
saw one for over one thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
This is what Starbucks needs, though, right, don't they? I
mean I was reading I don't know what I was reading, Mark,
I'm making this up, but I was reading that they
needed to return to their roots a little bit and
get people talking about Starbucks to coffee shop, not just
the place to go hang out.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Right, sure, but this is like not even about coffee.
This is just about getting some little plasticy.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Bear cause it's buzzy.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
It's buzzy, And I still don't get why there is
like such a freak out moment for something like this.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
This is it's always the least expected thing becomes the
thing that people want to talk about because you can't
get it, yes, and then in a year it's laying
around in a chest of drawers.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I know, and I guess.
