Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
All right, back behind the mic, back to work. What up,
Mario Courtney Lopez. Ear fired up to get to hang
with you for the next few hours. A lot of
radio fun planned, including a great guest after Jesse L. Martin,
who's gonna be zooming in with a scoop on his
new thriller pH One and role in Disney's Percy Jackson series.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Plus a fake debate.

Speaker 4 (00:19):
We'll talk must see movies, dig into the buzz to
see what is trending on or the comment of the week.

Speaker 5 (00:25):
Oh gotten so much more?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
So turn it up.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
You're on with Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
You are Mario Courtney Lopez taking a look at the buzz.
Because Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have finally settled.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
On with Mario Hollywood Buzz.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
So Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement
in their marathon legal drama.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I think it.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
Literally went on for a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah, I think two years ish, it felt a lot longer.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
It did well because we were just inundated with the press,
which was wild, and just two weeks before their schedule trial,
they settled quick background. Blake sued Baldoni in his production
company Wayfair in December and twenty twenty four, alleging sexual
harassment on set and a retaliatory smear campaign after she
raised concerns. Then he denied the claims and he filed

(01:16):
a countersuit against her and her husband for defamation and
related issues.

Speaker 6 (01:21):
And then in.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
April of this year, a judge dismissed most of Blake's claims,
including the core sexual harassment allegations, and that's when things
sort of started to unravel for her.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
It only left a.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Few retaliation and contract related claims against the studio and
the pr team, And as far as the settlement, there
was no money exchanged and the terms are remaining confidential.
The attorneys are the only one who really won. They're
saying around sixty million was spent combined gratulations.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Can you imagine.

Speaker 6 (01:49):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
They issued a joint statement expressing pride in the film,
acknowledging Blake's concerns quote deserved to be heard, and committing
to safe workplace environments free of improprieties. This was so
public and it got so ugly on social media. A
lot of people really turned on Blake and the fact

(02:11):
that she appeared at the met gala the.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Same evening seemed unaffected.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
So how would you take it.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Honey, I don't even understand half of what you just
read about their lawsuits. So I find it just I
don't really care about any of it or any of
these people.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
I think they did damage to both of themselves.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
They did favorites to themselves, and I think that that
all I got from it was that nobody really won,
just the lawyers. So what was the point. Where did
we get from this? And they just got negative press press,
and and you know, no one cared about her dress.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
I mean, basically, you had two people pay sixty million
dollars to ruin their own careers. It became very and
to have no one go see their movie.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
It started out very petty, and then it got out
of control.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (02:58):

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Going to tell us what's new in theaters this weekend.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
The Sheep Detectives You Jackman, Emma Thompson. George Hardy is
a shepherd who loves to read murder mysteries to his sheep,
never suspecting that they can understand him. And when George
is found dead under mysterious circumstances, does sheep decide to
solve the crime themselves? Whoa even if it means leaving
their metal for the first time and facing the fact

(03:57):
that the human world isn't as simple as it appear.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Years and books.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Reading books, this is reading an original premise.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
I'll tell you that I haven't heard this story before.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
And Mortal Kombat too, And we've done that a bunch.
We've had Mortal Kombat two like ten times.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah, well, this is Moral Kombat ten times. Okay, Johnny
Cage joins other fighters and the ultimate no holds barred
battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Khan, a
powerful tyrant who threatens the very existence of the Earth
Realm and its defenders.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
Mortal Kombat.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I was more of a street fighter guy, but I'll
get to Mortal Kombat as well too.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Mario Lopez coming up al.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Mario Courtney Lopez and if you happen to be in
the LA area this weekend, come visit me at the
Costco and Burbank eighting some samples ten to fifty one
Burbank Boulevard and beautiful downtown Bourbank here in southern California.
I am a partner in Jimmy Barr seriously best protein
bar ever. In its America's first creating protein barn. Preeteine

(05:00):
is back in a huge way. We've got twenty grams
of protein delicious flavors. I will be handing them out,
hanging out taking pictures. So if you're in the area,
cruise by and I'll be there from twelve to one
pm Saturday. That's this Saturday, May ninth, at the Costco
in Burbank. Mario Courtney Lopez here music rolls on after

(05:21):
some quick food buzz. McDonald's has introduced a new sandwich
in New Zealand, the mcmullet. The idea is pretty simple,
yet brilliant. The mcmullet is cheeseburger with an extra slice
of cheese hanging out the back.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
That's so funny.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
And while this is brilliant, sandwich isn't officially coming to
the States. Yeah, and McDonald says you can make one yourself.
Just order an extra slice of cheese, let it all
hang out the back. I always like when there's extra
cheese too, that's funny.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
I love extra cheese.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
But this, I mean, what are we going to come
up with next?

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Well, it hasn't it the States yet. New Zealand all
over it though. Let's get back to the music.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
None Mario Courtney Lopez Here music rolls on after some
quick buzz. Official actors created by AI cannot win an oscar.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
The Academy of Motion.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Picture Arts and Sciences as a new rule that prohibits
artificial intelligence created actors. Well, this makes obvious sense to me.
Don't know how it is even considered. Only real human
performers in human authored screenplays can be considered for The
awards decision came after an AI version of the late
Val Kilmer appeared in a film trailer. So they're taking
the lead from other entertainment companies and keeping it human.

(06:29):
I mean, I guess it does need to be spelled
out because then people might put up a fuss slator.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
So okay, I'm glad we cleared this.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Up all right.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Time for our weekly fake de Big, where the topics
are made upon the spot.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
But the passion is real.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Marion Courtney Lopez here, all right, who's gonna be pro?

Speaker 5 (06:43):
Who's gonna be kinning?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Courtney will be pro because she was con last week.
You will be knuy fifteen seconds to make your case,
ten second rebuttal afterwards. Your topic today is the year
nineteen ninety three. She's pro nine, you're pro nineteen ninety three.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
I believe the year nineteen ninety three is when I
entered middle school pool and met the love of my life, Chad.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
Wow. Is that it?

Speaker 5 (07:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:06):
All that needs to be said.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Your argument is should be my case. If you peaked
at Chad back in ninety three, that's enough. Ninety three
it was a year that was met with a lot
of drama, desert storm happened. The stock market was bad
the early nineties.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
You're done, I'd be quiet. Nineteen ninety three was not
desert storm. It was the storm of love between Chad
and I chat and me me chatting, me and Chad
me the storm of love between me and Chad.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Not a particular great box office, not a particular great
year in music. Grunge was on the scene, but it
was sorting of fade and stuff.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
So ninety three is very forgettable.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
That Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Keep you the music and fun coming your way.

Speaker 2 (08:02):

And I'm with Mario Lopez. I'm Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Few songs and then we're gonna fire up Zoom so
we can chat with actor Jesse al Martin big of
course and rent back of the day.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Now.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
He's starting in a new political thriller called pH One
and just.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Joined the Percy Jackson series over on Disney Plaslots to
talk about when Jesse joins us next.

Speaker 5 (09:10):
To help your all.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Mario Lopez joining me right now on Zoom, Actor Jesse L.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Martin.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
Are you doing Jesse?

Speaker 6 (09:16):
I'm doing very well, sir. How about yourself?

Speaker 5 (09:18):
I'm doing well. Thank you for taking the time.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Your new movie looks pretty wild and very topical, called
pH One, about a politician having his life essentially destroyed
by things being posted on social media by a hacker. Right, yes, ooh,
I like that premise.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
Very real.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
Yeah, old school political thriller.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Nice, that's my kind of that's my kind of flick.
And the trailer kind of gets into how things posted
on social can become facts without any real proof or
I don't even know if you essentially have to have
them proven as facts. The fact that they're out there
is enough to bother people these days. How did you
have you ever dealt with anything like this?

Speaker 6 (10:00):
By the way, No, not really.

Speaker 7 (10:03):
I mean maybe it's a gen X thing, but I
don't do a whole lot with social media. I think
maybe we're told we're supposed to now, right, Yeah, as actors,
performers and trainers, we're supposed to have a presidence, We're
supposed to have numbers, We're supposed to have all those things.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
I haven't ever been great at it.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yeah, no, smart, I'm a gen X for myself too,
And you're right, they kind of, you know, encourage it
at work. It's kind of fun, but you do have
to be careful because I know many people that have
kind of experienced this, and even personally I had to
kind of deal with a little something. So I'll have
to check this film out.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
Jesse Al Martin's with us more with him coming.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Up or Mario Lopez coming up?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Getting back to Jesse l Martin, who's hanging out with
us on Zoom. You're all with Mario Lopez talking about
your new movie pH One and you play a professor
in the film.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
How's your character fit into the plot.

Speaker 7 (10:53):
Well, I am part of the media that shows up
to condemn the man during the day that he trapped
into in his penthouse.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
That's what Penthouse one is. pH one is pehouse one.
So I'm a professor who has an academic sort.

Speaker 7 (11:11):
Of angle to all the problems that he sees with this,
this aspiring, not aspiring rising politician.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Got it? Got it? This isn't based on a true story,
isn't No? Because it seems like it could be a
sort of leading story. Yes, yes, okay, got it?

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Got it?

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Well, congrats on that. Look forward to checking it out.
All right, hay Tig.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
We have more with Jesse coming up, Almar Lopez, Jesse
Al Martin on Zoom with me talking about your movie
pH One. But you're also in a new episode of
Percy Jackson and the Olympians over on Disney Plus.

Speaker 5 (11:46):
What's going on in that episode?

Speaker 6 (11:47):
Man?

Speaker 7 (11:48):
Well, I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to say,
because that whole season hasn't even come close to airing yet.
What I can say is what they announced is that
I play one of the lead characters fathers.

Speaker 6 (12:01):
And if you know the books. I play Annabeth's dad.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Okay, okay, fun, that's fun, all right, hay tight. We
have more with Jesse Hall Martin.

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Coming out.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
Joel Mari Lopez catching up with actor Jesse L.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Martin this hour, and of course, back in the nineties,
you were part of the og cast of the Hip
Broadway show Rant along with the dns, Bell and Ty Diggs.
Anthony Rapp just blew up and became iconic, change your life.
I gotta imagine, what do you remember most about that
particular period in time.

Speaker 6 (12:31):
I remember that it was it was overwhelming.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
I mean, you've been on TV forever, right, and I
was used to just being on stage where you've got
some press, sure, but you didn't get that kind of attention.
I mean we were doing magazine spreads and you know,
performing at conventions like the Democratic National Convention, on every

(12:55):
talk show there was.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
It was absolutely.

Speaker 7 (12:59):
Overwhelming, amazing to do, especially with a project like that,
because it meant so much to everybody and it meant
so much to us.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
You're the full interview now at On with Mario dot Com.
More Mario Lopez on the Way.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Rapping up with actor Jesse L.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Martin, you're on with Mario Lopez and quickly before you go,
is h New York still home?

Speaker 5 (13:17):
Or is La home?

Speaker 6 (13:17):
Yes? New York. I've never been in a La. Guy
really so much.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
We're from but yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I get it.
I get New York. I love it. I love the Pride.
Are you Are you from the originally? No, I'm from
Virginia originally okay too.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
It was born in Virginia. Grew up in Buffalo, New York.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
Of all places, you grew up in Buffalo, I did.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
That's funny that you say that. I've spent a lot
of time in Buffalo. There's a lot of production going
on there, Jesse.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
Yeah, I hear that too. The tax and Center's a
movie in Buffalo.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
You've done one movie long while ago. Yeah. I like it, man,
I like Buffalo. People are really cool.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
It's cool town.

Speaker 7 (13:51):
It's a real winter That's probably why they also have
some of the best comfort food I've ever had.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
They really do.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
The beef on and those taken wings.

Speaker 7 (14:00):
You brought it back and Buffalo wings are Buffalo wings
for a reason.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
They they are, That's right, Buffalo Wing's for reason.

Speaker 7 (14:05):
I'd say something funny about the pride of Buffalo. Back
in the eighties, they had a whole campaign where, like
you know they will. The whole premise was talking proud,
meaning you're talking proud about Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (14:18):
Bucalos got a spirit talking proud. Look it up.

Speaker 7 (14:23):
I'll have to check it out for that's for a
reason because people who live there are very, very proud
of that city there.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Yeah, I love it right off, man, Well listen everyone.
Be sure to catch Jesse.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
In the new political thriller p H One, which is
out now in select theaters and available on digital on
demand as well.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
Jesse, thanks for checking in.

Speaker 6 (14:43):
Thank you so much man for having me.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
A Mario Courtney Lopez, my wife about to make it
weird with a random thought what you got.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
I would be so relieved if I got possessed, like
please take over me for a while. Like I feel
like I am possessed sometimes and I'm okay with that.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I feel you are too, Yeah, Mario Courtney Lopez. Quick
reminder that Mother's Day is coming up on.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
So I saw this and I thought it was interesting.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
The fifteenth annual Mother's Day Index has come out, calculating
how much moms would make if they got paid for
all their work around the house. So mothers in the
US would have earned a salary of over one hundred
and forty five thousand. That's it this last year, four
percent increase from the previous year. It includes cooking, helping
with homework, caregiving, cleaning, laundry. They also factor in five
hours a week of being a mental health counselor in

(15:34):
five hours a week of being a private investigator.

Speaker 5 (15:36):
They forgot to include chauffeur, uber driver, yeah, yes, uber.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Driver, teacher in any sort of other capacity in specific fields.
So honey, you'd be closer like two point fifty with
all YouTube right here at cheerleading and all the boys
right there.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Priceless my babies, I love them, or Mario Lopez coming up, Oh,
