The insane winter weather across the country. It's just this
last week there's power outages. And sometimes the most devastating
thing about a big storm isn't the storm damage itself,
it's just the resulting loss of electricity.

a prediction or two. What do you got, Fraser?

Speaker 4 (06:27):
We're gonna do best Pop solo performance up for it's
Justin Bieber, Daisy, Sabrina, Carpenter, Manchild, Lady Gaga, Disease, Chapel
Roone the Subway, or Lola Young MESSI I think.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
It's gonna go to either Bieber or Sabrina.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
They do seem to be dominating.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
I think yes, although Gaga had like a pretty crazy
bit of success with that album.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I'm gonna go with either Sabrina or Bieber, with maybe
Sabrina edging.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
I say Bieber hands down.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
We'll see Sunday that you were a Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (07:02):

today's guests who I'm fired up for, Joe Elliott and
Rick Savage from def Leppard. You're on Mario Lopez New
Vegas residency, new single, lots of talk about when they

of my favorite rock band, Zephyr def Leppard lead singer
Joe Elliott and bass player Rick Savage. How are you, gentlemen?

(07:58):
Very well, thank you, Thank you for taking the space.

Speaker 8 (08:02):
Getting ready to work for the day.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
It looks very impressive. I wish I was in that
room right now seeing what's about to go down. And
for over forty five years, you guys have been rocking out,
still making music. Just dropped a new song called Rejoice.
Please tell me about this one. What inspire this one?

Speaker 7 (08:18):
Well, we've been kind of piecing together a new album
for a couple of years really now and still working
on it and speak.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (08:27):
We developed a whole new way of working during COVID
where we could record remotely because we couldn't get together,
and we really enjoyed it so much that we've carried
on and we just keep writing and sending songs to
each other. And this is one of the pilot songs
that we've been working on recently. But because we've got
this residence, in Vegas starting next week. We thought it'd

(08:49):
be cool to release a new song to tie in
with that, and this one just seemed to fit the.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Bill well Alimore at dot com to give Rejoice a listen,
and Hay Time, We're gonna have more with deef Lefward
coming up after quick break.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
More Fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 8 (09:03):
We got Joe Elliott and Rick Savage from def Leppard.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
On zoom with me and Mario Lopez here, And I'm
excited about your new residency. It's happening in Vegas, kicking
off at Caesar's Palace, your third Vegas residency. What can
fans expect when they come out?

Speaker 7 (09:17):
Great thing about doing Vegas we find is that we
can we can just push the envelope a little bit
more than doing a regular tool. We do things that
we don't wouldn't normally think of doing. The production is
going to be brand new. We're playing We're playing songs
we've never played before. As Joe said, there's the new
song Rejoice, a couple of other new ones as well,

(09:39):
and songs that we've not actually played, with doing a
song called White Lightning that we haven't actually played since
nineteen ninety two, So it's gonna be a big change
from the last couple of tours.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
I gotta imagine a residency gig is pretty much the coolest,
right You're hanging out in one city for a month,
playing the shows, you know where you're going to be,
and how they get on a tour bus. You like
that they did the same bed you know they're sleeping
and saying that exactly.

Speaker 7 (10:03):
The Times Company words on the other way around. I
can see the appeal, you know. I mean, this is
our third one, and we really enjoyed the first one.
The second one was specifically just celebrating one album. This album,
this one is much broader than that. But as says,
we've dug deep and we get the opportunity to do
that because it's it's Vegas and it's just a different

(10:27):
eddspace to touring.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Yeah, it is.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Well almar dot com for all the info on def
Lepper's new Vegas residency and hayk Tight, we're gonna have
more coming up. You're all mare a lot pez catching
up with Joe Elliott and Riggs Savage from def Leppard
this hour getting the scoop on their new Vegas residency.
And because you have such a deep catalog and so
many different hits, how do you come up with the
set list?

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Do you?

Speaker 2 (10:47):
I mean, I'm sure there's the mandatories. We're still fighting
over it, and we're still fighting over it.

Speaker 9 (10:52):
Okay, got one we got one rehearsal day left here
and we're just about forming a set list because you
want to make different and you know from the other
the last set list that we did, and so yeah,
it's it's a.

Speaker 7 (11:05):
Challenge, especially if you're introducing new songs or songs that
we're not played in a while where they fit.

Speaker 8 (11:12):
Yeah, but it's trick in there.

Speaker 7 (11:13):
It is tricky, but you know, there's still going to
be the old, the obvious ones in there, you know,
in their appropriate places. But right it's on.

Speaker 8 (11:21):
I mean, it makes it, It keeps it fresh for
us as well. Yeah, no, I love it all.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Right, hang time more with def Lepard coming up the
first one music got Joe Ellie and Rick Savage on
Zoom hanging out this hour. Mario Lopez here And since
you guys have been performing for so many decades, if
you could go back and perform one of the classic shows,
do you have a favorite sort of run in a
certain city that you look back at fondly.

Speaker 7 (11:47):
You know. That's a tough one because when you took
a show on the road as we have done, like
when we went Out and the Round in eighty seven
eighty eight, and then we did it again in ninety
two ninety three, it's such a specific show that you
just take it to different cities.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
It's once you actually.

Speaker 7 (12:01):
Look back on it, you can't really pick out one
single show that stood out more. It's the overall right
preresentation of that fourteen to fifteen months on the road
that you'll remember as a success or a failure.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
You know.

Speaker 7 (12:15):
I suppose if we were to pick it to be
different for everybody in the band, you know, I mean
the obvious one is not normally like the hometown gigs.
If you can play your hometown and there's forty thousand
people there, whether it be the one we did in
twenty three or the one we did in ninety three,
they're special because it's you know, you remember playing your
first couple of gigs in front of three people and
the dog, and then all of a sudden there's forty

(12:38):
four thousand people watching.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
You know.

Speaker 7 (12:40):
Yeah, they're the ones that you kind of if you
do think about it that you go, wow, yeah that
was someone else.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yeah, those full circle moments have you got to be
incredibly special? All Right, One more thing I want to
ask more with def Leppard coming up.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
Well, you're the full interview now on with Mario Doug
more Mario Lopez on the way.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Rapping up with Joe Elliot, Rick Savage from Death Leopards
or on Mario Lopez and before you go almost five
decades together, is there a ritual or tradition you guys
have that you do for the band or you just
kind of don't even need to see each other and
you show up and you hit it.

Speaker 10 (13:12):
Well, yeah, it's amazing how things have sort of morphed
throughout the decades, you know, and we change as people, right,
you know, you know we have families that didn't exist
when we started, and you know, the landscapes changed so much.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
But one thing I don't think has ever really changed
is that the chemistry within the five of us, Like
when the five of us get in a room like
this and we're working through songs, that process is always
as it always has been, and it's almost like timeless.
You know, it could be the end of the seventies,
or it could be modern day. It doesn't matter in

(13:51):
our world because we're just doing the same old thing.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
I love to hear that. As a fan, I love
to hear that you guys together. It's been a real pleasure.
I appreciate you taking the time speak with me today
and listen. Everyone, be sure to go out to Vegas
for this Deaf Leopard Residency. It is kicking off February
third at Caesar's Palace. All the info is at Deafleoppard
dot com. You can get it at Alan Mario dot com.
Joe Rick, thanks so much for checking in and look

(14:14):
forward to seeing you guys out there.

Speaker 8 (14:15):
I hope so come come see it.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yeah, yeah, for sure. Thank you, Al Mario, Courtney Lopez,
lit more music. They're gonna squeeze in a random question
in the meantime, why don't we pregame that with a
random thought from Frazer?

Speaker 8 (14:30):
What do you got?

Speaker 7 (14:31):
You know?

Speaker 4 (14:31):
I saw something online earlier today and it really, uh,
it really stuck with me. Edward scissorhands. His hands are
not scissors. I don't know what those are. Those are
not scissors. And now that I've seen that and thought
about it. It really it really kind of bothers me
that we're calling him scissorhands. Those are not scissors.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
I thought they were scissors. They looked like scissors.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
They're not scissors.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
They scissor like blades.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
Well, blades could be machetes, they could be all kinds
of things. Those are not scissors.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to take a
closer look at the pic right there. Huh, he's dangerous.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
No, he is dangerous and does a great hedge.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Let's get to a random question what I'm are on
Courtney Lopez here, which you got? Quardo?

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Would you rather only be able to wash your hair
twice a year? I would die. I would die, or
only be able to check your phone once a day?

Speaker 5 (15:19):
He would die.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
This is easy, you would die. You'd check it once
a day. That's the easiest thing, and that would be
such a healthy exercise. The only reason I'm on my
phone so much, as you all stop? Stop? Can I
answer you? Stop? The only reason I'm on my phone
so much is because I don't use a computer.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
I don't either.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
That's why you're on your phone a lot too.

Speaker 8 (15:42):
You yell me for never being on my phone.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
I'm on multiple screens at once, so I know, so
if I was.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
On a computer, I wouldn't even need to be on
my phone as much because most people.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Well you say that, but like, I'm on a computer
a lot, but I'm also on my phone a lot
because you kind of do stuff on both.

Speaker 8 (15:58):
But can't you do everything from your phone?

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Can you do everything that you could do on your
phone on your computer?

Speaker 5 (16:02):
Basically, I mean pretty much, but you're not.

Speaker 8 (16:03):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (16:04):
Iking of like doom scroll Instagram, Kim does, well, yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
That does Je Graham on a laptop in a weird
It's weird.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
Yeah, it's odd.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Kim my friend does, he does?

Speaker 8 (16:14):
Kim?

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah, So uh no, no, no, no, I gotta wash my
hair anything that has to do with hygiene.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
I wash my hair every day.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
More.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Mario Lopez coming up, Ah, Mari Lopez, keeping the music

in her career.

Speaker 8 (16:35):
Well, that's a good tease.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Okay, uh, Leighton Meester sharing her relatable secrets to her
successful twelve year marriage to Adam Brody.

Is January comes to an end.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
February getting some love online for being a rare perfect
month with exactly four full weeks that start on a
Sunday and end on a Saturday, creating a clean, rectangular calendar.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
I feel like you will like looking at this.

Speaker 8 (17:43):
It's the shortest month I believe too.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
It is yes, February, and because it's not a leapier,
February is twenty eight days. A lineup flawlessly, something only
this month can pull off. So for those of us
who are super organized, it really works. By the way,
the calendar won't line up like this again until twenty
thirty seven. Ooh, gonna have to wait a minute more.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
