Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Here we go, Mario, Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 3 (00:05):
Here back bond and the mic fired up to get
to hang with you for the next few hours. Great
guests joining us later as well, actress and singer Katie Segal,
who's going to be giving us a scoop on this
interesting new stage show she put together with her husband.
Speaker 4 (00:16):
Plus we'll share a fresh life hacker too in Cordos Corner.
Dig into the buzz to see what is trending, Play
all of your favorite music and more so, turn it up.
You're on with Mario and Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yo, Mario, Courtney Lopez, digging into the buzz because Michael
bringing in the money.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
On with Mario Hollywood Buzz.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
So the Michael biopic making history over the weekend with
a massive two hundred and seventeen million dollars worldwide opening,
making it the biggest debut ever for a biographical film,
beating the record held by Oppenheimer by forty three million.
Along with its success, the film has also been well
received by audiences. However, not by critics. They have not
(00:57):
been too kind, actually been over the top, disparaging it.
The Jackson family also apparently divided over the flick. Michael's
daughter Paris even recently broke her silence about the movie
as well.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
The big reason why I haven't said anything up until
this point is because I know a lot of you
guys are gonna be happy with it.
Speaker 6 (01:14):
Like a big section.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
The film panders to a very specific section of my
dad's fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they're
gonna be happy with it. The thing about these biopics
is there is Hollywood, so this is it's fantasy land.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
It's not real.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Well, with all due respect Paris, she wasn't alive during
when this movie took place. She wasn't alive, so how
does she know? Really? And the critics are really harsh,
mainly because it omits so much, especially all the allegations
of abuse and what have you. But I said from
(01:54):
the beginning, Michael's life is so full.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
How can you put it all in one Exactly?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
You can't do it in two hours. It should have
been like they did the Luis Miguel They did his
series and it's excellent. Say they should have done like
a series on HBO, Netflix, whatever, streamer, and they could
have done thirteen episodes. Yeah, and you could have covered everything,
and you could have covered everything. When you're trying to
rush it, nobody is really going to be happy at
(02:20):
the end of the day. It ends up being just
sort of a compilation of his music videos.
Speaker 7 (02:24):
Yes from someone doing an imitation of his videos right
and concerts, which.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Is fun because it's he's got great music. But you're
not truly getting like that biopic.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Well, who knows, maybe there's a sequel in the works.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Or Mario Lopez coming up on Mario Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
You know that we want you to see a R
Alive on their three Decades tour in the US city
of your choice.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
We will handle everything, of course, including a meet and
greet with the band, just to have the contest. Have
when you're listening to us on the free iHeartRadio app
to enter, or you can get your tickets right now
at livenation dot com.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
You're all Maril Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Got some Maple twenty eight birthdays to shout out shortly
in the meantime, why don't we squeeze in today's obscure holiday?
Would you find honey?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Today is National Superhero Day, honoring both fictional superheroes like Batman, Superman,
Wonder Woman, spider Man, and real life heroes everyday people
such as first responders, military personnel, teachers, teachers. I volunteered
last week in Sunday School in his class and it
(03:32):
was God loved.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
These teachers actually, the ones with the patients exactly.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Healthcare workers, parents, and anyone who shows courage, selflessness or
makes a positive impact at your day.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Those are the real heroes.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Yes, time to celebrate some Mapril twenty eight birthdays.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
What I'm more in Courtney Lopez here along with Fraser,
Who's going to tell us who's turning a year older
and we're gonna try to guess the age. Jessica Alba.
Jessica's got to be well, she's Latina, so like she's
always gonna be looking younger than what she is. I
think she's forty five. Forty five is correct? Oh look
at that? Okay, Penelope Cruise, Latina.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Penelope Cruise is fifty five.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
No, she's much younger. She's she's cruising into forty nine.
Fifty two.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Oh I locked that far off. Oo.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Wow, she looks great. Too. Too short. Too short was
huge and I was in high school from the Bay Area.
Too short too short. I gotta be I'm gonnaell you
right now. It's a clue. Too short. I got to
be hitting the six level sixty sixty is correct?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, oh wow, you know your seniors.
Speaker 7 (04:35):
And finally a comedian form her late night host and
car collector Jay Leno.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Who is one of the best wigs in the game.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Yes, best wig, good chin, you should have.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Been a boxer. Best car collection by an individual ever.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Jay Leno is seventy.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Eight, seventy four, seventy six oo flanked four Mario Lopez
coming up olmar.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Courtney Lopez music role.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
But I wanted to mention this crazy throwback the infamous
fire festival. Remember that that kicked off nine years ago today?
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Wow, I remember two years ago.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Already there was a couple of good docks. We saw
one of them. Remember how funny that guy did some
time he got out. I remember poor joh Rule too.
He got role.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
Has been in here twice since that happened. Yes, somehow
he got right like he was just kind of brought in.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
It wasn't here.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
By the way, this fry guy recently tried to come
back to push another concert and then we just didn't
hear about it.
Speaker 7 (05:31):
Well, he kept saying Fire Festival too was coming and
the people were like, no, it's not coming. He was like, no,
it's coming, and then it never happened.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah, well can you imagine why?
Speaker 2 (05:39):
All right, let's get.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Back to music.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
You are, Maril Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
A few more songs gonna fire up Zoom so we
can chat with today's guests, Actress and singer Katie Sagal
from Married with Children and Futurama, Sons of Anarchy and more.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Now she's got that interesting stage show she put together
with her husband. Back to get the scoop on that
and more. When Katie joins us on Zoom next, what's
up here?
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Al Mario Lopez joining me right now from legendary shows
like Married with Children, futur Rama, Sons of Anarchy and
many more.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Actors, Katie Saga, how you doing, Katie?
Speaker 6 (06:13):
Really well?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Thank you, thank you so much for taking the time.
Like I was just saying, you truly are legendary actors,
but you're also incredibly accomplished as a singer as well,
so talented, and you've launched this new stage show with
your husband, Kurt Setter. It's called Chorus Harmonia. What inspired this.
Tell me about this all.
Speaker 8 (06:34):
Right, Well, about a year ago March, I was feeling
somewhat despondent about the world and what was happening, and
it was crazy and la just burnt and things had
just everything felt very chaotic. And so for me, I
have turned to music most of my life to sort
(06:56):
of make me feel better, and I've always had a
band or something, but this time I just thought, oh,
I really want to sing with people. I tried to
find a choir to join, and I couldn't find one.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
So I just started one in my living room and.
Speaker 8 (07:11):
I started picking material that it's contemporary material, it's not
like your typical choir music, you know. And as I
was picking these songs, it sort of took the form
of it had like not a.
Speaker 6 (07:28):
Literal arc, but an emotional arc.
Speaker 8 (07:32):
And the arc sort of appeared to be like sort
of where we are now, like very chaotic to a
point I kept telling to people that kept saying to me,
it's never been this bad, It's never been this bad,
And I don't really believe that. I think that historically
we've gone through lots and lots of things.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
So it's sort of.
Speaker 8 (07:54):
The arc of the music started with like, you know,
stuff up turned upside down to.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
Like what are we going to do about it?
Speaker 8 (08:01):
To my ultimate goal in my life, which is basically
stick together, don't don't splinter, do not isolate. It tends
to be the impulse when we're afraid.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I love this, this siety, and I got a lot
more to ask, So hanging tight, quick break, and we're
going to come back with some more case of Golf.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Mario Lopez here getting back to actress and singer case
of gall who's on Zoom new stage show is Corus Harmonial.
But I also want to bring up I knowed you
to do a podcast with with a Kurt as well
called Pie kind of what kind of topics do you
guys get into there?
Speaker 8 (08:39):
Well, it's really, uh, the point of our podcast is
we do no research and we just have people over
that we've always wanted to meet.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
And that's like, yeah, kind of like that.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
So but you come over to our house and you
hang out with us and we just talk.
Speaker 8 (08:54):
About we like to kind of know where you come from,
what your family background is, what your family is like.
Now we don't talk so much about like what you
do as a famous person or we don't even have
just well actually we do just have famous.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
It's not really what our interest is. It's a little
bit more in how you got to where you are.
So that's what we talk about.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
I love that, Love it all right.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Katie Sagall is hanging out with us more with her
coming up and first more music. Get back to case
Gall who's hanging out on zoom Mario Lopez here, been
talking about your new stage show. But I saw on
your ig that you recently signed up for a new
sitcom along Jamielee Curtis and Jane Lynch. What a cat.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
Well, it's actually not with Jamie.
Speaker 8 (09:39):
I mean the way the ad came out, it looks
like that, But really what it was is two separate shows.
Jamie has one that she's producing, Got It, and then
Jane Lynch and I just shot our pilot for NBC
Love Jane and Love Jane Love my Pilot, and we're,
you know, we're in that like waiting to see if
they're going to pick it up.
Speaker 6 (09:59):
But it was, it was. It's really funny.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
I'm sure it is. I'm both hilarious.
Speaker 6 (10:05):
The two of us together really seemed to be a
good match.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
That's awesome. All right, Katie hanging tight a few more songs?
We have more with Katie Sagall. Getting back to Katie Sagall,
who's hanging out on Zoom Mario Lopez. You're been talking
about her new stage show, and I think it's just
cool because back in the day, I know, you sung
with people like Bob Dylan, Tanya Tucker, da James, Olivia Newton,
Johnny Man. You even had a band right in the
seventies called the Group with No Name, Oh God.
Speaker 8 (10:35):
That was on Casablanca Records, and the president of the
label couldn't think of what to call us, so it
was too late the record was coming out.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Yeah, that's just what happened.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
So was acting? Was acting sort of by accident or
were you simultaneously doing it all?
Speaker 1 (10:50):
No?
Speaker 6 (10:51):
Althrough my twenties, I just wanted to sing and play music.
Speaker 8 (10:54):
I was on a couple of record labels, I had
my own projects, you know that didn't quite happen.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
And then I made a living as a background singer.
So I was on and off the road.
Speaker 8 (11:05):
And then when I was getting into my late twenties
and realizing a man, I can't pay the rent.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
You know, things are getting really it's tough.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (11:13):
So I did a sort of a little rock opera
thing that my friends had written and got a scene
by an agent, and before I knew it, I was acting,
and I was in another musical situation at the taper
down in the Music Center.
Speaker 6 (11:28):
And then before I knew it, I was.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
On a sitcom which was like wild. It was not
at all what I thought was happening with my life.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Was that sitcom Married to Children.
Speaker 8 (11:39):
No, this was a show with Mary Tyler Moore. It
was called The Mary Show, Oh Wow. And it was
on for thirteen episodes, and Danny DeVito was the director.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
He gave me the job oh wow.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
And it was like and.
Speaker 8 (11:54):
It was really my first experience in that world, and
I just kind of acted like I knew what I
was doing.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
It was wild. It was really wild.
Speaker 8 (12:03):
And it was a great lesson in not being too
attached to the way you think things should be.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
Like I was so attached to the idea.
Speaker 8 (12:11):
Of being making a living as a position, and I
was just like, huh.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
So I finally started to say yes to other things
and and it happened. I'm really one of these people
that has learned on the job.
Speaker 8 (12:23):
Right after that job, I got married with children, and
I've just been learning as I go.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
That's unbelieva, still learning, because I go.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
You went from an incredibly difficult space and entertainment to
another incredibly difficult space and entertainment, and both where your
odds are so stacked against you and my and then
you happen to be great, which was which was? Which
was awesome? And that's so funny, And I'm so glad
I asked that question because I didn't know you just yeah,
you just kind of segued up into that.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
All Right, one more thing I want to ask quick break,
and we're gonna come back and wrap it up.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
You're the full interview now on with Mario dot Com.
More Mario Lopez on the way.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Wrapping up with Katie Sagall your own Mario Lopez. Just
last thing, I know you did a quick stage reunion
with the cast I'm married with children at will Turn.
It must have been a couple of months back now.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
That must have been so much fun seeing everybody again.
Speaker 6 (13:12):
So much fun. I mean, we just sit up there.
First of all, it got sold out in two days.
This always blows my mind.
Speaker 8 (13:18):
I mean because this has been what thirty years, twenty
five years, I don't know, a really long time, but
people are like hardcore fans. And it was just Ed
and Christina and David and I and we just sat
up there with a moderator love it and talked and
answered questions and it was really so. It wasn't like
we did an episode or something. We just were ourselves
(13:40):
and we're about.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
To do another one on May ninth. For Netflix. Is
a joke.
Speaker 8 (13:45):
Yeah, yeah, I think it's called so yeah. It's always
great to see it. I mean, we've stayed in touch
all these years.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
So the hell of a run, right, Kay?
Speaker 3 (13:53):
It was like eleven seasons, is that right?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Eleven seasons.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Believable. That is awesome. That is awesome. I was watching
it as a nine year old, which I think was inappropriate, but.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Way, you know whatever, And it holds up.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
It's hold up. It's funnier than ever it does.
Speaker 6 (14:12):
It does hold up.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Oh my gosh. Well, congrats on everything, and thank you
so much for taking the time and listen everyone. If
you're in the LA area, make sure to grab your
tickets to see Katie in chorus Harmonia at the Hudson Theater.
You can get your ticks at Hudson Theater dot com
and all the proceeds are going to be donated to
some great organizations as well, which is really really cool.
Speaker 6 (14:31):
Yeah it's Tturla and Wounded Warriors.
Speaker 8 (14:33):
Oh perfect, I really love those options and.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
No, those are great. Katie. Congrats again and thank you again.
Hope to see you in person. Take care, Thanks, Mario.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Okay, Mario Courtney low.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
This here my wife getting ready to share something fresh
in Quarto's Corner. Any clues about today's hack, honey?
Speaker 4 (15:05):
All about breaking the snooze.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Oh, you need to pay attention to this as you
say it. I'll thought you've been pretty good as a
Valiev anymore. The snooze is the worst back with Cordos
Corner and Tan don't move or snooze, Amaro, Courtney lopezz
Time to get some fresh life hacks and Quardo's Corner.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
What do you got for us today, honey?
Speaker 4 (15:23):
So this is for people who love to hit the
snooze button aka myself. This is how you break the habit.
So please you put your alarm clock on the other
side of your room, whether it's an actual alarm clock
or just your phone. It forces you to get out
of bed to shut it off and then, guess what,
you're already up.
Speaker 8 (15:42):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
This can help add valuable time to your day and
get you up and at him.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
The snooze button is such a frustrating device. Why do
you want to tease yourself to go back to sleep?
But you got to get up again? And people set
their alarms or their snooze buttons like a half hour
to an hour early so they can keep hitting that
seems like such a waste of time and totally disrespectful
if you're with someone else too, completely inconsiderate. She said,
(16:08):
she stops, She did stop. I'm not saying. I'm not
saying you do it anymore. You did remember it? What
I remember when you used to do it? Though, Honey, Yeah,
but I do it when I'm not with more Mario
Lopez on the way, What up?
Speaker 6 (16:18):
Mario?
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Courtney Lopez?
Speaker 8 (16:19):
Here?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Mother's Day of course, just around the corner.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Yeah, okay, you fired up? Wait? Is that one of
your holidays?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
That's one of her holidays. It's one of her holidays.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
This year, more moms are saying they'd rather hit a
restaurant with a family than deal with breakfast in bed. Yes,
that's gonna be our move, honey, right.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
Well yeah, because then the moms have to clean up
the well.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
That's that's exactly what they're saying. The mess that comes
with it is not worth it.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Sixty percent of mom say it's important part of Mother's
Day festivities to go to an upscale like hotel brunch,
maybe a qui cafe. Moms appreciate anything, but you can
check yelp or open table if you're not sure who
serves Sunday brunch, but experts a make those reservations.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Now, yeah, you know, I appreciate anything, but I'm just
going to throw this out there. You want to sleep
that or a spa day or I'm just by myself.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
So you like to be alone? That hurts my feelings.
I like to be with you.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
If I say what, if I say Father's Day, you
know what, all you guys beat it.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
I want to be alone.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
It should hurt. It should hurt children's feelings more than yours.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
All of us are.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
It's just like I want to be near you.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
A good squatday.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
I never heard anybody alights get back to the music.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Omorow Courtney Lopez Quick.
Speaker 3 (17:32):

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Your Maril Courtney Lopez summer is going to be here
before you know it.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
And if you're planning a vacation, you know they can
be as stressful as they are fun, especially when the
whole family has to get along and agree on what
to do. That's not really a vacation, that's more of
a trip anyway. A new survey says, while we love
our families, most of us would like to have at
least an hour a day of alone time on vacation
or Mother's Day.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
My wife, the whole day.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
She just hates her family. They also ask what are
the things you most argue about when you're staying together?
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Well, number one is what to eat yup, followed by
waiting a long time to get ready to go out,
and even what to watch on the hotel room TV.
And then there's the snoring. Oh, someone is bound to
keep the rest of the family awake with their incessant
loud snoring.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Well, we know, we know what to do with that.
We know about that.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
Give me my own room exactly.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
That's why you want your own room part of your
master plan more.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
On Maria Courtney Lopez reminding that I heard radio as
your chance to see Chris Brown and us. You're live
on the Raymond and Brown Tour and you pick the city.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Yes, Oh, we'll handle everything, including access to the pre
show VIP lounge. Just to have the contest tab when
you're listening to us on the free iHeartRadio app to enter,
or you can get your tickets right now at livenation
dot com.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Mario Courtney Lopez her music rolls on after some quick buzz.
The Bachelor, returning for its thirtieth season. The reality Dating
show was renewed last year, and on Wednesday, ABC announced
it'll finally return in twenty twenty seven. This is surprising
to a lot of people because after the drama from
Taylor Frankie Paul I believe her, you got it, big fan. Well,
(19:45):
her name was everywhere for a hot minute. The Mormon
wife who had three kids from two different baby daddies,
not very Mormon, well, not very Mormon in or wife. Well,
with all due respect, that's a lot to ask of
a man. Yeah, to take on right out of the gate,
but that wasn't the issue. That wasn't even the issue. Yeah,
(20:06):
you're exactly right, that wasn't even the issue.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
But okay, there's that.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
And then I mean it was an interesting premise leading in. Yes,
that's a lot to take on in and of itself,
but then compounded by the fact that she had two
domestic violence arrests and the law basically on her tail
for all that. Now some of it was on video
criminal activity. This was wild. They wanted attention, but it backfired.
They lost a lot of money, and I guess they're
(20:32):
going to.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Go really conservative this time. That's my assumption.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Well, I think a lot of us want to know
at least to one. Can't you just tell us who won?
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Well, they went over that actually and they didn't. They
said the final two guys, but they said that they
never made it past the engagement in the ring was
given back. So it's sort of irrelevant. I guess who
quote won or was it thrown back? Yeah, exactly, jol
marl Corney Lopez. Virtue names are back. These are names
that were popular four hundred years ago and now they're
(21:02):
popular again. So what are they, you asked? They're exactly
what they sound like. Names that convey a moral standard.
Parents typically choose these names in the hopes of their
child living up to that particular virtue.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Many believe that the practice started in the early sixteen
hundreds on the Mayflower. Grace and Hope are a couple
of virtual names that were big back then. Dominica has
a girl Grace in his class, and they're still common now.
Those names some other virtue names that they might that
you may want to consider our.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
On Mario Cordo Lopez about to head out of the night,
but out before we squeeze in one last thing. Napping's
supposed to be good for you, right, but apparently excessive
napping can be dangerous.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
I don't believe it.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Well, anything you do in excess is not good. That's
according to sleep researchers who tracked older adults and found
that each additional hour of daytime napping was associated with
a thirteen percent higher risk of death. Come on now.
Daytime napping was defined as getting shut eye between nine
am and seven pm, but nodding off in the morning
was especially risky. The study showed links between too much
(23:10):
napping and cardiovascular disease. Yeah, too much of anything, too
much water, too much sleep, too much exercise. It's all bad.
But don't let it distract you from the fact that
napping is incredibly healthy for you between twenty minutes to
no more than an hour. If you do that in
the middle of the day, oof, it's a game changer.
(23:31):
Unless your show. Hey o tany Dodger dray who sleeps
ten to twelve hours a day? Can you imagine apps? Yes?
Can you imagine sleeping though that much? You could? Actually
you could imagine that, but every day only in my dreams.
That's why he looks like he's twelve years old.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
He looks so young.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
