Mario and Pumpkin Lopez.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I'm Mario Courtney Lopez. Thank you so much for hanging
out with us. Very special throwback soundtrack coming up shortly.
So hang tight for that. In the meantime, I want
to get into something that came up on my show
Access Daily. There was a letter written by a lady
who was because she heard me talking about dogs and
how cats don't really serve a purpose other than to
(00:55):
catch mice.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
She got you.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, she was saying they're just as important as dogs,
if not more, because they're independent. And then my little co-host, literally,
Kit Hoover, is a cat person. And she tried to
defend cats and saying they're equal, this and that. And listen,
I preface it by saying I'm allergic to cats, so
I never really kicked it with one. But I have
(01:20):
a great deal of respect for them because they're stone
cold killers. But there's zero comparison. I'm going to rattle off.
few things on how dogs contribute to society and they're
just better. We've got guard protection dogs.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
We've got police canine units, military working dogs, search and
rescue dogs. When you're lost in the mountains or what
have you, cadaver detection dogs, they're trying to find the bodies,
bomb explosive detection dogs, drug dogs, tracking dogs, Missing persons dogs,
medical alert dogs, guide for the visually impaired dogs. Hello.
(01:56):
Mobility assistant, therapy dogs, conservation dogs, detecting endangered wildlife, livestock,
guardian dogs. Okay. Herding dogs, hunting dogs. The list goes
on and on.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
You forgot one.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (02:10):
The useless dogs, which ours would be a part of.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
That falls under emotional support dogs. My point is, look
at that. We've got a plethora of dogs saving lives.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Do cats have any jobs?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
You know what a cat will do if you're getting attacked?
A cat will do this.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
It'll take a bath.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
It'll lick itself. A cat will not do it. You
have mice? Okay, it'll handle mice.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Outside of that, a.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Cat contributes nothing. They're independent. They don't cuddle with you.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
They have no jobs.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
They have no jobs. That's a very impressive list.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Mario Courtney Lopez here. More music headed your way as
Kordo quickly tells us about some of the new stuff
on TV and streaming.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Leigh-Anne.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Season 2 premieres on Netflix. It's the return of the
multi-cam comedy starring stand-up comedian Leigh-Anne Morgan.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Okay, Netflix really getting into the comedy game.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Season 3 of Beauty in Black also drops on Netflix.
This Tyler Perry drama sees Kimmy step into a powerful
role at the Bel-Air hair care empire only to face
a dangerous family power struggle.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Wow, season three, too. So I talked to my boy
Tyler Perry not too long ago. He's actually, he says
now at his age, which he's pretty young, kind of
taking a step back, slowing things down. But that means
probably doing instead of 20 shows, 10 shows. Exactly. He's
taking it down.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
That means everyone's doing the work for him. Well, he's fine.
Because his empire is still thriving.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Exactly. I think he's like, you know what? Let me
enjoy the fruits of the labor, I think.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
And finally, Adults. Season two premieres on Hulu and FXX.
The Gen Z hangout comedy about 20-somethings and navigating post-college
life in New York returns for more chaotic friend group dynamics.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Should be interesting. Music rolls on. You're on with Mario
and Courtney Lopez. Don't forget, iHeartRadio one-on-one with Sara Bareilles
going down tomorrow. She's back with a new.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Album, Good Grief.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Ah, that drops tomorrow as well, Good Grief. She's sitting
down with us for an in-depth interview to talk about
her song, Just a Kid, the inspiration behind the album,
as well as her upcoming documentary. I love her. Check
it out tomorrow on with Mario.com for all that info.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Alright, Charles and Mario, Courtney Lopez, more music headed your way,
but I wanted to mention, since we were just talking
about Dolly Parton, talk about weird timing. The next tropical
storm in the Atlantic is going to be named Dolly.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Coincidence, it's the fourth storm of the season. So far
we've had Arthur, Bertha, and Cristobal.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Bertha sounds really scary.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Cristobal sounds like affluent.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Well, the National Hurricane Center plans to use Dolly for
the next system that reaches tropical storm strength, and it's
Not in response to Dolly Parton's passing. The name Dolly
was chosen in the early 1990s and has been on
a rotating list of names since 1996. But it's just ironic.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
You're on Mario and Courtney Lopez. A little more music.
Then you're going to dig into our mentions to see
what's on your mind. Add on Mario Lopez on IG.
Add on Mario on Facebook and X. Questions, comments, random thoughts,
whatever you got. Back to see what you've sent our
way next. All right. Add on with Mario on Facebook
and X. Add on Mario Lopez on IG. Love hearing
from you. Mario and Courtney Lopez here. What'd you find, honey?
Speaker 3 (05:15):
This is from at Katie can't care. She doesn't care.
She can't. She can't care. She said, I accidentally said,
let's take this outside instead of let's take this offline.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
You were about to throw hands.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yes, during a team meeting today. Now I'm pretty sure
I have to fight everyone in the parking lot at
4 p.m. Any advice since you have a boxing and
wrestling experience?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Yeah, leave early.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Well, Katie, since you don't care, just let them hands go.
Let them hands go and get to the ground as
quickly as possible.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
All with Mario Courtney Lopez, letting you know that we
want you to see Teddy Swims live on the Ugly
Tour in Vegas. We're going to handle everything, too, including
the VIP backstage tour.
Speaker 3 (05:59):

iHeartRadio app and click on the contest tab for your
chance to win. Prize furnished by AEG Presents. Tickets on
sale now at Ticketmaster.com.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
I'm with Mario Courtney Lopez. He's a few songs away
from Kordo's Corner. All right, honey, give us a little
hint about today's topic.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Well, it's uses for pumpkin spice other than pie or
a latte that you may have never thought of. All right,
back with Kordo's Corner in 10. Don't move. Don't move.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
I'm Mario Courtney Lopez, making our bi-weekly stop into Cordo's
Corner for something helpful, fun, or delicious. What you got
for us today?
Speaker 3 (06:35):
So the other day I told you how to make
homemade pumpkin spice. SonOfMario.com if you missed that. It's a
great recipe. But once you get your homemade pumpkin spice made,
here are some uses that aren't pie or a $ 7
to $ 10 latte. You can make at home. So for breakfast,
oatmeal or overnight oats.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Love oatmeal.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
So it's just a teaspoon per bowl and a spoon
of pumpkin puree.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Ooh.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Pancake waffle batter or French toast custard.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Ooh, like that too.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Toast and butter plus sugar and spice.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Just a little bit on it. All these are excellent.
Those are all excellent. And you have that with a
little bit of coffee.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Can I also tell you in my coffee, coffee grinds,
you can sprinkle the pumpkin spice in that as well.
And it gives you flavor with snacks, popcorn with a
little oil, salt and spice at sugar. If you want
sweet and salty roasted pumpkin seeds or chickpeas, which is great.
Source of protein, oil and spice and salt. 325 degrees
(07:30):
Fahrenheit until crisp. And baked banana halves dusted with spice.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
The popcorn thing is interesting. I think I'm going to
try that. And I actually do like pumpkin seeds. It's
an underrated, it's an underrated seeds. I don't know about
the bananas, but all right. Might have to give it
a shot. No, that's good.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Rule of thumb though. Start with a half to one
teaspoon per serving and taste. Bloom the spices in a
little fat or warm liquid so they don't Taste dusty
like dirt.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
More Mario Lopez on the way.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Mario and Courtney Lopez, your music rolls on after we
break down an interesting rumor in the buzz. Word is
Ryan Gosling is working on a Flintstones live action reboot.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
What?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Twist is it's apparently going to be focused on Bam Bam. Oh,
that's funny. Deadline reports that the project is looking for
a writer. Character grew up in the Flintstones spinoff, The
Pebbles and Bam Bam Show, back in 1971. He's the
adopted son of Barney and Betty Rubble. He was super
strong and would destroy everything, not knowing his own strength.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Bam, bam.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
That's pretty much all he said. They had a Flintstones
live action film. I remember John Goodman was Fred Flintstone.
Halle Berry was Betty.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
No, no, no, no. She wasn't Betty, was she?
Speaker 2 (08:41):
She was Betty.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Rosie O'Donnell was somebody in that.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Rosie O'Donnell. No, Rosie O'Donnell must have been Betty.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
So Halle Berry was the assistant at the company.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Halle Berry was the assistant. Rosie O'Donnell was Betty. I
can't remember, but I remember John Goodman was Fred Winston.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Yeah, he was. Okay.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
You're on Mario Courtney Lopez. Got some August 27th birthdays
to shout out later this hour. Hang tight for those.
Going to make a quick digital pit stop at onmario.com
shortly as well. So we can take a look at
what's trending.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
In the meantime, more music we have for you. So
you got a song you want to hear. Just drop
into our mentions at on with Mario on Facebook and
X and hang tight.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Cordo.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
That's me. That's I. I got a random question for you. Next.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
You talking third person now.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
I mean, Cordo does what Cordo wants.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Omar and Courtney Lopez wasting no time and getting right
to a random question. What do you got, honey?
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Okay. Would you rather stop aging for 100 years or
receive $ 1 billion right now?
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I would rather stop aging for 100 years as long
as you can stop aging with me.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Well, that's not going to happen.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
But you know what?
Speaker 1 (09:59):
There's. saying?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
What do you mean that's not going to happen?
Speaker 3 (10:01):
It's just for one person.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Yeah, I don't think you can bring someone with you.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Oh, then I can't do it. Then I can't do it.
Then we're taking the billion right now.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Take the billion because you have peptides now.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Well, here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Well, you can spend the billion to stay alive.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yeah, but here's the thing. In a perfect world, if
you would stop aging along with me, How great would
that be? Because not only will we get to enjoy
each other, we get to see our kids grow old,
our grandkids.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
I know.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
It would be incredible.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
And.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
What happens when they surpass your age?
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Well, they're not going to surpass us because.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
You just physically don't age.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
You physically just don't age.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
The facade.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Right.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Well, I'm assuming the inside.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Well, the insides too.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Physically. Health-wise, all that.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Right.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Health-wise and all that.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
But by numbers, you're still 120. Correct.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
But that's still kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
That's still kind of cool because... your mortgage in that
sense is already, you know what I mean? Things will
be paid off. Yeah, everything's kind of, you know, so
I know the billion sounds great, but you're still, life
is still going to come or life will still come
to an end theoretically in the next, right? I mean,
it will eventually, yeah. 30, 40, 100, if I can
get it. One thing you can't buy is time and
time is priceless. So I say, but I don't want
(11:04):
to do it alone. So as long as you can
do it with me.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (11:09):

(11:52):
today's select birthdays. In the meantime, any obscure holidays to recognize, honey?
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Today's your favorite thing. It's World Rock, Paper, Scissors Day.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Also known as Rochambeau. Now, here's the thing. And it's
become controversial, although I'm doing it right. You're supposed to
go on the three. Rock, paper, scissors.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
And then you go. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I got into an argument yesterday. With a lot of people.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Eric Winter. At work.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
And then Eric Winter also co-chimed. He wants to go
on the four.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
He's wrong.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Do you know why? Because he's offbeat. One, two, three. Yes, exactly.
And I beat you.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
You do it on the three. What's that?
Speaker 2 (12:27):
That's paper.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Yeah, so did I lose?
Speaker 4 (12:29):
The four throws the whole thing off.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
He does. There's no time. One, two, three, four.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Why?
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Rock, paper, boom. That's why it goes Rochambeau.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Well, it says rock, paper, scissors, go.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
No. That's four.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
There's no go.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
It's just Rochambeau.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
You just do it on the third one.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
What's Rochambeau mean?
Speaker 2 (12:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Rochambeau is another name for it.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yes, exactly. Yo, I'm Mario Courtney Lopez. Time to shout
out today's celeb birthdays. As always, Frazier's going to tell
you he's turning a year older. We're going to try
to guess the age. Who do we got? Alexa Peña Vega.
Alexa Peña Vega. Who's married to her husband, Carlos Peña Vega.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Because they took each other's last names.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
That's cute.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (13:08):
They now live in Hawaii, fun fact.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
That's cute, too.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
She's got to be 35.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
36.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
38.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
38.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Mario, not Lopez, the singer.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Oh, okay. Let me love you.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Give me everything too.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
No, you jumped a verse. You jumped a verse. You
don't give me everything too.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
She wants everything as well.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
I give you everything. You did a remix.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
You're doing the remix. I give you everything.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
And he is 44.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Let me be the one to give you everything. That's it.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
You win. Mario from Baltimore, Maryland. I believe my guy
is 36.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
40.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Oh, okay. Fourth level, all right.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan. Cesar.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Cesar. He's the homie.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Cesar.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Cesar has got to be 65. Oh, it was my
turn back. Oh, sorry.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
He said 65. I say 66.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
57. Ooh.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Ooh, is he really? Yeah. But he's been gray forever.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
That's the thing. That's like trying to guess Anderson Cooper's age.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Right. And finally, from MTV back in the day, downtown
Julie Brown.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Downtown Julie Brown.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Wubba, wubba, wubba. She used to say that. Yeah. She
looks like she would be in the Spice Girls.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Yeah, actually, I could see that. Totally.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Downtown Julie Brown's gotta be hitting the sixth level 60.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
65.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
63.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
On with Mario and Courtney Lopez. Back to the music
right after a quick digital pit stop and on Mario.com
so Kordo can tell us what's trending up.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Beyonce and other stars honor Dolly Parton in loving tributes,
calling her bold and brilliant. You can check out the
rest of that and what everyone else has been saying.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
That's so cool to see all this universal love.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Glenn Close is defending Kim Kardashian. Find out why.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
She's sticking up for her buddy right there for the
controversy with her acting. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
They're on a show together. You know.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Okay. And Taylor Swift details her coping mechanisms for life
in the spotlight.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Is it swimming through money like Scrooge McDuck?
Speaker 2 (15:12):
That's what I would do.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Sleeping in a bed of money. On with Mario.com for
all that and more.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
I'm Mario Courtney Lopez. Back to school creeping up on us.
It's a great reminder that teachers make a difference each
and every day. Now's your chance to say thank you
with iHeartRadio's Thank a Teacher, powered by DonorsChoose.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
This is your chance to nominate an outstanding public school
teacher who goes above and beyond the students. And then
they could be one of our $ 5, 000 winners for our
classroom supplies and resources. Teachers give so much. I know
that firsthand. Now it's our turn to give back to them.
Onwithmario.com slash teachers to find out more and nominate a
teacher now.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
On with Mario and Courtney Lopez. More music after some
quick food slash health buzz. Pretty sure we all saw
this coming. More Americans take weight loss medications. Restaurants are
starting to create menu items specifically for them. Think high-protein smoothies,
bunless burgers. Not really a burger, but some bunless, right?
Protein bowls, smaller, lighter meals, chains like Chipotle, Smoothie King,
(16:18):
and Shake Shack now offer items labeled GLP-1 friendly. Interesting.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Well, it's designed for customers whose appetites are smaller, but
who still need plenty of protein and nutrients. But what's
interesting is that people on these medications aren't avoiding restaurants.
In fact, one survey found GLP-1 users eat out more
often than non-users. They just want different options and smaller portions. See,
I'm not on one of those, but I would have
(16:45):
always loved to have these smaller portions.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Well, now you have that option.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
But then they're going to think I'm on a GLP-1.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Well, they'll think whatever they want.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Who cares?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Here's the thing. I actually am surprised to hear this
because we have a friend who's on a GLP-1 and
he pretty much eats one meal a day. But boy,
that meal is a monster.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
No. When he told me how he eats since he's
been on that, I was blown away by it.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
That's why I'm surprised to hear this. Yeah. Because he
eats one meal and it's enough for like three people.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
It's enough for three days.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
It's insane.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
More Mario Lopez next.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Keeping the music and fun coming your way. Mario and
Courtney Lopez here. Got a song you want to hear?
Hit up our mentions. Add on with Mario on Facebook
and X. Add on with Mario Lopez on IG. Don't
forget to click follow and join the fam. You're on
with Mario Courtney Lopez. Almost time to head home for
the night. Just one last thing to get to shortly.
In the meantime, probably have enough time for a request
(17:35):
or two. So if you've got something you really want
to hear, drop it in our mentions over on IG,
at on Mario Lopez. All right, almost time to head home.
You're on with Mario Courtney Lopez. Just got to squeeze
in one last thing. Frazier, you got something, right?
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yes, earlier when we were doing the throwback soundtrack, I
think it was, Courtney mentioned that Dolly Parton was probably
one of the most beloved Americans and one of the
last sort of universally beloved Americans. So I got a
little curious about that and I started doing some research
on it. And I think you might be right. The
only people that kind of still exist that could be
called that might be Keanu Reeves because no one really
(18:12):
hates Keanu Reeves and he does a lot of good.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
And Michael Jordan. Those are the two that came up.
I would like to also add Rick Moranis, because I
think Rick Moranis is someone that everyone just kind of likes.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Michael Jordan's controversial, although he shouldn't be.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Right.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Although he shouldn't be. And he's got sort of a,
and I'm saying this as a huge Michael Jordan fan,
he's got a bit of a reputation that he doesn't
ever go out in public. And when he does, it's
not his favorite thing.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
So, you know, but.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
But overall, think about how much he is loved by people.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
He's loved by people. I think it's. The aura and
image of Michael Jordan because he's been so great. The
thing about like Dolly, she was always around people and
engaged with people. And ever since she was in the 70s,
she's just been, you can tell she was just a
sweet person.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Super friendly.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
How can you not like anyone who wears diamonds like that?
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Mario Lopez will be right back.
