Ninety eighth Annual Academy Awards. Eighth almost one hundred.

Speaker 3 (00:48):

ten Bougonia, f One, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One battle
after another, the Secret Agent, Sentimental Value Centers, Train Dreams.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I feel like one battle after another had a lot
of momentum, but then Sinners started catching up. Was down
to those two. I feel they're going to give it
to Sinners.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
What do you think, honey, Frankenstein is the only one
I saw in its entirety. I'm going to go with
one battle after another because that's.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Just like Leo.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, I think it's down to those two. But we'll see.
The Academy sometimes surprises.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
A Mario Courtney Lopez keeping the music coming your way.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Right after Quordo tells us about a few of the
new things hitting TV and streaming.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
Amazon has the premiere the series premiere of Lao Focina.
The eight episode series, filmed in mockumentary format, revolves around
the regional office of habonez Olimpo Olympo Soaps, a family
owned soap manufacture, a company located in you.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Take it, Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
So this is the Mexican adaptation of the Office.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
That's funny, That is funny. I want to see Aguascallion.
That's a real place and it means warm water.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
I know water, and they make soap there. And Twisted Yoga.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
It's a new limited series on Apple TV, three part
true crime doc series following a group of young yoga
students from around the world drawn to the ancient practice
in search of inner peace and purpose, only to fall
under the influence of a reclusive Romanian guru, the spiritual
leader of an international network of yoga studios specializing in

(02:43):
tantric rituals.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
That's why Catholic priests say, if you want to have
an exorcism, don't do yoga.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
That's true.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
The one said that in the eighth season of Mama
June from Not to Hot kicking off over on we
eight seed.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
You know what, Mama June been straight killing it. She's
remained relevant.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
She has for good a long time.

Speaker 7 (03:06):
To be fair, some of that relevance was crime related,
but nevertheless she still has been relevant.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
I'm Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
All right, I gotta choose your side, Team Mario or
Team Cordo, because there are just a few songs away
from another passionate fake debate where topics are made up
on the spot, but the passion's real.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
Real, I'm real and while we get ready for that,
I'm real. I'd love to play a song for you.
You got a request, drop into our mentions over on Facebook.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
And x adam with you.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
I'm real.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Time for our weekly fake debate where the topics are
made up on the spot, but the passion is very real.
Mario and Courtney Lopez here all right, Frasier, Who's pro?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Who's cone?

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (03:45):
You will be conn, Courtney will be pro. You'll have
fifteen seconds to make your case, ten second rebuttal afterwards.
Your topic today is Award Show swag bags.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
M Award Show swag bags are the like the oscar.
I think they're better than the trophy. They're worth like
millions of dollars.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Two hundred fifty thousand.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
But do you only get them when you win?

Speaker 4 (04:09):
I think if you're nominated.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
I think if you're nominated correct, Okay, well, I I
nominate myself for.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
An os so I can get mister Lopez.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
That's exactly what's wrong with the world these days. People
who have everything continue to get even more. That money
would be better served for people who could really use it.
All the other struggling actors in sag that don't get
the opportunity to ever make those kind of who don't
ever get those kind of prizes.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Ah, that's so sweet of you to donate your next
paycheck to them.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Nobody, he said, swag bag missus Lopez. Sorry, I don't buzz.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
You know you do have a point there, but I mean,
that's just the way life goes.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Wow, said Janet Jackson. Wow, listen, Janet Jackson, if you're nasty,
that is cold as ice, and that's why Hollywood can
and us to turn off a lot of Middle America
not being in touch with the rest.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Of the public.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Well, Mario Lopez will be right back.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Mario Lopez here letting you know that iHeart on TikTok.

(05:28):
You're on Mario Courtney Lopez a little more music than
Gonna fire up Zoom so we can chat with the
guys from The Fray just drop their first new album
and over a decade, A Light That Waits, Back to
get the scoop on that talk, Tory and more when
the Fray joins us. Now it's up Yon, Mario Lopez
joining me right now, Joe, Benn and Dave for the
band The Fray. How you gentlemen doing what's going on?

Speaker 8 (05:50):
Mario?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Hey, I'm good man, I'm good. This is exciting. I
know fans are fired up. You y'all are back with
your first full length album in over a decade called
A Light That Waits? Uh, what's in h what's inspiring
this new music?

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Man?

Speaker 9 (06:05):
There's a lot to say, so so you know, when
you have more to say, you want to put it down,
you want to write it.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
And that's that's where we're at.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Man.

Speaker 9 (06:12):
It's a lot of this record is about you know,
that light that you don't you can't see yet.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, it's that you're part of that self.

Speaker 9 (06:19):
That you can't see yet, and other people help you
see it, and even us as a band, like we
can we can see ourselves more clearly because others have
helped us, Yeah, along the way see ourselves more clearly.
So a lot a lot of the records, you know
in that theme.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Well, you're older, you mature a little bit more, there's
more clarity in your life. So yeah, man, I can
imagine especially after ten years and and and obviously your
your o G lead singer Isaac Stepod away from the band,
but Joe stepped right up. How's the songwriting process change
because of.

Speaker 10 (06:47):
That stepping up to the plate? Man just trying to
get on bass. No, man, it's uh, it's you know,
it's a dream, that's what that's what's good about you know.
That's what's unique about bands is that you can games,
you can evolve, and fans can you know, can see
that and come along with the evolved, you know nature

(07:08):
of it. So we've learned a lot from other bands
that have done this, like Genesis, Van Halen a CDC.
There's been, you know, loads of bands that have taught
us what's possible and that the songs are really what
matter at the end of the day.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
I know you're exactly right, and there are a lot
of positive examples that you just labeled off right there,
all right, guys hang type Frey hanging out with us
on Zoom more with them coming up.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
We'll be right back. Mario Lopez on.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Mario Lopez getting back to the guys in the fray.
We're hanging out on Zoom. New album is A Light
that Waits. And I know, starting in May, you guys
are kicking off your summer tour, the Summer of Light tour.
How do you come up with a setlist?

Speaker 11 (07:49):
That's a that's a process, the collaboration, you know, there's
there's some non negotiables, you know, with the old songs,
but also with the new as there's kind of in
this udio with some of the new songs, there's already
probably three individual thoughts about.

Speaker 12 (08:04):
Like when we get this song done, it's gonna live
in X spot. You know, I already have thoughts for
like opening, opening songs, set closers. So we start throwing
ideas around, but then once we get into rehearsals, kind
of the rubber really hits the road.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
You know, you do you uh do?

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Y'all?

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Do any covers have any classics or anything?

Speaker 10 (08:22):
You got a you got any suggestions for us?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Mario always I always rub your sleeve well, I always
like when I see bad I love here in live music,
and I always like when bands kind of give their
version their twist, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
I think it's kind of cool and sometimes it's better
than the og.

Speaker 9 (08:35):
Well, you know, we we've I don't know if we've
done it better. But a few years back we did
Hipstone Lie by Shakira, and I gotta say Ben stepped
up to the microphone for that song.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Okay, people lost there.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
It's fun, man, I like what you do.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
I think it's fun for the fans and stuff. It's fun.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
We didn't have to dance. He didn't even have to dance.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
He just opened his mouth. Fray hanging out with us
more with them coming up, but first more music. Guys
from the Fray hanging out with this is how Mario Lopez,
your new album just drop. But I know a lot
of your classic songs have been huge on TikTok with
the younger generation. That's kind of cool.

Speaker 8 (09:10):
How does that happen, Mario?

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah, it's with that.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Oh here, I see my kids like liking these. I'm like,
how do you know that song? And on TikTok and
so I mean it's great. That's the That's the thing
about art is that it's timeless and it just can
reach new people.

Speaker 10 (09:24):
Yeah, man, I don't know, it's it's wild to see it.

Speaker 9 (09:26):
I mean we've always just written true songs, you know,
honest songs, and.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Haven't tried to follow, you know, trends.

Speaker 9 (09:33):
We weren't ever chasing trends, and you know, I guess
maybe that's that's held up better over time. But yeah, man,
seeing this generation just attach their story, attached their life
to it. You can cover the songs on TikTok. I
mean we see so many covers and it's like wow,
like incredible to see you know, all the all these
artists just posting songs and it's their story attached to it.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
So it just makes it.

Speaker 9 (09:57):
You know, it brings a new meaning to it, new
life to it.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
It's a big compliment, all right, Hang tight, little music,
and then back was some more wrapping over the guys
from the Fray. You're on Mario Lopez before I let
you go where you all from?

Speaker 9 (10:08):
Originally we grew up in Denver, started the dand Denver,
uh you know, hustled around Denver.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Mile hot CDs, yeah, demo CDs, fired shows, you know,
did what every local band used to do at that time,
and uh yeah, we fortunately got out and got beyond
Denver metro area.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
So yeah, who else is the way?

Speaker 3 (10:28):
There's a couple of people. Who else is from Denver?

Speaker 9 (10:30):
Like, oh man, it's it's It's been a thing every
couple of years. There's something coming out of Denver. Nathaniel
A Lift, you know, yeah, kind of the Nears guys
now live there. Oh wow, you know three O three
was was from from Denver?

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Eric Denver Dog Yeah, yah, yeah, yeah. But I want
to say, is Philip Bailey from Earth? Was he from Denver?
I want to say somebody I don't know that. I
want to say, like somebody I think, yeah I was,
just because it's like a random city that you wouldn't think,
you know what I'm saying, and like a lot of music,
but there's something It's a.

Speaker 9 (11:02):
Great city though, to be from. You know, as an artists,
people are music lovers there in the venues or world class. Yeah,
like we really you know, right outside of Red.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
Rocks from dinner was our dream to play Red Rocks.

But not before we honor the comment of the week.
Are on with Mario and Courtney Lopez, who are honoring
this week? Honey, This is from.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
At Raymond Smirks and they said, heard you wondering if
you played yourself on TV and in movies more than
playing fictional characters. I asked AI and it could only estimate,
but claims it's at least thirty to fifty times that
you've played Mario Lopez.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
Not sure if that helps, but you played yourself a bunch.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
I have a longer resume playing myself than playing fictional characters,
which I think is a compliment because then people kind
of know who.

Speaker 7 (19:50):
I am well, because it's your your more pop culture
ish than the roles you played, which is ironic because
a C.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Slater is one of the most iconic roles out there.

Speaker 7 (20:00):
Because of him, they know your name, they know you,
and they want you because of that.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
And not to mention all the times you've just been
mentioned an award show.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
The references are another Kim Will just mentioned me the
other day Bridesmaids having a reunion on the Oscar stage
to announce an award. I think and remember christ Wig
and Me and Matt. It's in the outtakes.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
I wish I never mentioned it in the Golden Globes
last year and in twice twice and Animated stuff, Animated stuff,
Family Guy always it's crazy, huh.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
And one of the American Pie movies mentioned you because
those friends.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Yes, more Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 3 (20:39):

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
