our game of name that tune from yesterday mrs lopez

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Songs couldn't believe it so we're gonna get to part
two of that hand out a good deed lopez dig
into our mentions to see what's on your mind and
Just a few songs away from more proof this year
is just flying by. So turn it up and let's
do it. You're on with Mario and Courtney Lopez. You know,
I can't believe I'm saying this, but we are only
four months away from Santa sliding down the chimney.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Is that crazy or what?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Mario Lopez here.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
Yep, Christmas.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Just four months away. And if you haven't been as
good as you should, there's still time to right some
wrongs with Santa. According to the North Pole, everyone gets
wiped from Santa's naughty list on January 1st. And everyday
actions determine which list we're on throughout the year. So
a couple good deeds can keep you on the nice list. That's,
of course, the goal. If you fear you might be
on the bad list, Santa's forgiving. So those in the
(01:06):
know say a letter of apology goes a long way.
Maybe go above and beyond on those chores the rest
of the year.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Can I include that apology in my letter of the
list of things I want?
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I think so. I think it's sort of like.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Or does it have to be separate?
Speaker 3 (01:19):
I imagine it's a little like Catholic Church. You can
always go and confess.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
And you get forgiven.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
You repent.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
On Mario Lopez. Keeping the music and fun coming your
way as Frasier quickly tells us what's new on TV
and streaming.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
The Airport Chaplain premieres on Netflix. It's an Australian drama
starring Hugo Weaving as an unconventional airport chaplain who bends
rules to help people clashing with his new boss. Isn't
his boss God?
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Wait a minute. Are there airport chaplains? Is this a
made up position? I'm not aware of airport chaplains.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
I did not know that there were, but after reading this,
I think it makes sense that there would be.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Well, now I have to quickly chat GPT. Is there
such a thing as an airport chaplain? Let's see. This is,
we're doing it on the spot. It's thinking.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Come on.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
It's supposed to be quick here.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Many major airports have airport chaplains.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
All right.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Who provide spiritual care, prayer, counseling, crisis support to travelers
and airport employees. They're usually based in a chapel or
meditation room and may represent different faiths, including Catholic priests.
You have an information desk or an airline rep contact
The airport chaplain.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
And then they'll meet with you.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I had no idea.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
That's a real thing. Look at that. Oh, that's cool.
I feel like I might do this to get a
prayer before my next flight.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Wow. Oh, wow. Look at that.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
We learned something today.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Death of a Pastor's Wife, a Netflix true crime docuseries
that examines the life and mysterious death of Micah Miller,
wife of a South Carolina pastor.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Ooh, that sounds good.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
And The Simpsons Yellow Mirror. It's a Disney Plus exclusive episode,
a standalone animated story from the long-running series. Huh.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
All right, just a few songs away from Cordo's court,
Mario Lopez here. And while my wife transforms into Judge Cordo,
I'm going to quickly remind you that she's here to
help you out. So if you find yourself in a pickle,
maybe a disagreement with a friend or a family member,
or just feel like you've been wronged in some way,
go ahead and slide into our DMs over on Instagram,
at on with Mario Lopez, and hang tight. We're going
to come back with today's case in town. Yo, I'm
(03:20):
Mario Courtney Lopez. Time to take another trip to Courtney's
court for a fresh case. This week's case comes from Chelsea.
She says, my son and his fiance have decided to
get married in Australia for some reason. The issue is
I have an insane fear of flying and I refuse
to get on an airplane. My son is still asking
me for some financial help with a wedding and I
really don't think I want to help pay for a
(03:41):
wedding I can't attend. My son knows I have this
fear and always have, yet he allowed his fiance to
choose Australia as a location.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
What should I do here?
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Now, I know it's your corner, but I think an
important detail she left out is, is his fiance from
Australia and is her family there? Or are they just
planning a destination wedding?
Speaker 5 (04:01):
The way she worded it makes me just seem they
just planned a destination wedding because obviously.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
There's two different answers, I think, for if she is
from Australia and she just didn't mention.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Well, if she is from Australia, that's a completely different situation.
I mean, how can you argue with that? But if
she isn't from Australia and they are still asking you
to pay for it, knowing that, you know, we all
have our fears and you have to you know, respect,
respect them and take that into consideration. I don't see
why you should pay if you can't go.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
You're the mom. It's not like you're some random friend.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
But here's the thing. If I were her son and
I was, if I was in this situation, I would
do something small back home that my mom could be
a part of and that she could put money to
not the Australia one.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
That's a good compromise.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 3 (04:50):

I'm Mario Lopez reminding you to hit up OnMario.com to
(05:33):
check out our On With Mario interviews podcast. Full conversations
with all the awesome people who dropped by recently at
comic and actor Tommy Davidson. Told us about the new
Martin spinoff. SNL's Alex Moffat broke down his quirky new rom-com.
Jake Johnson and Mary Steenburgen talk the dink. OnMario.com for
all those and more. What up, Mario Lopez here. Labor
(05:55):
Day around the corner. That means the end of summer vacation.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Wah, wah.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
And according to a new survey, we're just all getting
ruder when we fly. Well, that's not good. 42% say
passenger behavior on flights has gotten worse over the last
five years. Well, judging by social media, it's gotten a
lot worse. Yeah. Noise is the biggest complaint as loud
conversations or passengers playing music or videos without headphones are
the most annoying. Well, yeah, you can't do that. Come on.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I actually thought that wasn't really allowed.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
I didn't think so either. Passengers reclining their seats too
far back. Or doing so without warning comes in second.
I disagree with this.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
OK, without warning, I don't know how you would warn
the person I'm going to recline my seat. But if
it goes back to a certain place, I'm going to
go back to that place.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
They wouldn't have made it.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
They made it to go a certain distance. And I'm
going to go that distance.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I respectfully disagree with this.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
I'm rude. I'm rude on this one.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Passengers reclining their seats too far back. Why is it
to their discretion? That's insane.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
It is.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
It's not too far back. No. It goes a certain distance.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
If it's allowed to go that distance, then you should
be able to.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Take it that distance. They built the chair to work
a certain way.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
And then there's the question of who should get the armrests.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Well.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
We've established the person who's in the middle should get
dibs because come on.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
They get both of those. The person on the outside
gets the one on the outside. The person by the
window gets the window.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
That's exactly it.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
I'm Mario Courtney Lopez letting you know that you might
want to set a reminder for iHeartRadio one-on-one with Sara Bareilles.
She is back with a new album, Good Grief, out Friday.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
And she's sitting down with us for an in-depth interview
to talk about her song, Just a Kid, the inspiration
behind the album and her upcoming documentary here this Friday
on WithMario.com to find out more.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
You're on Mario Lopez. More music and fun coming your
way after we squeeze in and look at the buzz
because we're slowly getting more details about Taylor Swift and
Travis Kelsey's wedding. All these weeks later, Adam Scott from
Severance talked about it on the Today Show yesterday. He
said how real the ceremony was. Adam said, you had
the sense that these are just people who love each other.
It was kind of on a grand scale, but at
its core, it just feels like a regular wedding with
(07:54):
two people coming together. He also said everyone teared up
and it was a really lovely event. Didn't we discuss
the vows took like a half hour each?
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yeah, and she sang some of hers as well.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Whoa.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Marathon.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
All right, let's get back to music.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Yo, Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Interesting new design trend taking off, encouraging people to unplug.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Literally.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Designers say analog rooms are poised to be one of
the hottest home trends this fall. These screen-free spaces are
designed for activities like reading, listening to music, playing board games,
doing puzzles, or just having conversations. Designers recommend arranging furniture
to encourage face-to-face interaction using warm lighting, adding books and games,
even swabbing Bluetooth speakers for record players. So in other words,
(08:38):
a family room.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
Yeah, that's what a family room used to be.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
That's what it used to be. You just got to
be disciplined in putting away the screens.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Okay. More Mario Lopez on the way.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
I'm Mario Lopez. Music rolls on right after Frazier tries
to make us think by quickly sharing one of the
random thoughts floating around in his head. What do you got?
Do you think E.T.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
's favorite song was Take Me Home Tonight?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
E.T. the Extraterrestrial?
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
That's a good one. Take me home tonight.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
Did he want to go home? He wanted to phone home.
He did want to phone home.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
So aside from Take Me Home Tonight, I bet he
probably would have either gone with Lionel Richie's Hello or
Adele's Hello. He's got an option there. All right, let's
get back to music. A whole bunch more to get
(09:32):
to as we power through this Wednesday. You're on Mario Lopez.
Got some August 26th birthdays to celebrate shortly. Going to
dig into the bus for a quick look at what's
trending in a bit as well. And going to honor
someone with our weekly Good Deed Lopez Award. That's coming
up next. You're on Mario Lopez. Quickly putting the spotlight
on someone doing something positive in the world with our
Good Deed Lopez.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
All right.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
What you got this week? A few weeks ago in
New York City, a woman named Susanna accidentally tossed a
platinum ring into the garbage. This was not... just any
old ring. It was a century old family heirloom that
survived the Soviet Union after Victor's great grandmother snuck it
out in her mouth back in 1989.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Victor was intent on tracking it down. He went to
a weigh station and dug through a staggering 20,000 pound,
100 foot long pile of rotting garbage.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
He was like Andy Dufresne in the Shawshank Redemption.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Yes, he was. Seeing him in there alone, a sanitation
worker was very kind hearted, jumped in to help. After
just an hour of searching, Javier, the sanitation worker, spotted
the white bag that Victor had described, found the ring inside.
Nothing short of a miracle. Victor said he plans to
pass the ring down to his son should he get married.
And as an added bonus, Victor told Javier to expect
(10:43):
an invitation.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Oh, that's very, very nice. I'm sure Javier would have
appreciated maybe a cash award.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Yeah, maybe like a 20 or something. Coincidentally, my dad
is Javier.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
He worked for the sanitation department. In the city. And
he used to find so much jewelry.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Because people would accidentally throw it away or it would
fall while they're washing their hands.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Down the drain. Down the drain. Yeah, of course.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
So he used to come back with a lot of
jewelry right there. And hey, at that point, it's finders keepers.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Mario Lopez will be right back.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Yo, I'm Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Music rolls on after a quick digital pit stop on
OnMario.com so Frazier can tell.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Us what's trending. Don Tolliver brings out Justin Timberlake for
a surprise performance in Miami. Check out the video of that.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah, I saw that video. Okay, JT.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Vin Diesel confirms final Fast and Furious film will be
a worthy finale. You can find out what he means
by that.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
He said he went through multiple... rewrites, and writers. They
already went to outer space. Where do you go from there?
Speaker 4 (11:44):
I have no idea. They've done everything that is physically
and literally impossible, so who knows? But we'll see when
that comes out. And Hayden Panettiere's mom is hitting back
at haters who are telling her how to mourn.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Yeah, Leslie Vogel, Hayden's mom, I think has a right
to hate. You don't tell a parent how they should
mourn or what they should say. Onmari.com for all that.
On with Mario Courtney Lopez letting you know that we
want you to see Teddy Swims live on the Ugly
Tour in Vegas. We're going to handle everything, too, including
the VIP backstage tour.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Just listen to.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
On with Mario Lopez on the free iHeartRadio app and
click on the contest tab for your chance to win.
Prize furnished by AEG Presents. Tickets on sale now at Ticketmaster.com.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
All right, let's get to today's celeb birthdays. What up,
Mario Lopez here, along with producer Frazier, who's going to
shout them out as I try to guess the ages.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Kiki Palmer.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
My girl Kiki. She's cool. Kiki? Kiki Youngster, I think.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Kiki 32?
Speaker 3 (12:41):
33.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Ah, close. From Star Trek. Bunch of stuff. One of
the largest heads in Hollywood. Physically, not egotistically. Chris Pine.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Chris Pine, yes. Very nice guy, too. His father was
an actor, and it didn't dawn on me until much later.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Wait, who's his father?
Speaker 3 (12:57):
He was on Chips. He was the captain on Chips.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
I'm going to have to look that up now.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
You've got to see it. Yes, he was there.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
How old is he?
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Oh, with that said, Chris Pine is 48.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
46.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Okay. 46. From Home Alone and Richie Rich and a
bunch of stuff, Macaulay Culkin.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Macaulay's got to be 46 as well.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
46 is correct.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Oh, look at that.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
From Bridesmaids and everything that's funny except Thunderstruck, which she
did for Netflix, Melissa McCarthy. Tammy, by the way, is hilarious.
People hate it on that movie, but it's very funny.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
She's funny.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
I love her.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
She.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I'm going to say she's 47.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
56. Ooh, wow. More Mario Lopez. Next.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
You're on Mario Lopez. Music rolls on after some quick buzz.
You may remember the show SCTV, which launched the careers
of some iconic comics, including John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara,
and Martin Short. All Canadians. Now the show is coming
to Netflix. Martin shared the news on Social Media Friday, saying,
Netflix will have SCTV on September 1st, alongside a cast
(14:00):
photo featuring O'Hara, Candy, Rick Moranis, Levy, and others. It
ran from 1976 to 1984, and most of the cast
went on to be very successful. So a sort of
Canada's version of SNL. Yep. Mario Lopez, hear more music
after a quick peek at the buzz. Mariah Carey celebrating
the 25th anniversary of her eighth studio album, Glitter. There
(14:22):
was a movie accompanying it, remember?
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Yeah, it didn't get a lot of great reviews.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Yes, I remember that. She was all right, though.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
She did all right.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
The album's going to make its debut on vinyl for
the first time since being released in 2001. The OG
album will be pressed on a midnight purple vinyl, while
a deluxe version will be pressed on a glittering pink vinyl.
Fans can pre-order the vinyl now. It'll ship on or
around October 30th. All right, a few more songs. I'm
going to get to One Last Thing. Mario and Courtney
(14:49):
Lopez here.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
In the meantime, slide those requests into our DMs on
X and Facebook at On With Mario.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
You're on Mario Lopez in One Last Thing.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Hey!
Speaker 3 (15:15):
We lost a true icon this week. The legendary actress,
philanthropist Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80 yesterday. Apparently,
you've been dealing with some health issues for a little
while now, especially since the passing of her husband, Carl Dean,
last year. It's about a year since he passed. And
(15:36):
they say after you're married, and I believe they were
married for close to 60 years.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Or something like that. I think, yeah, maybe even over 60. Oh, man.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
And I mean, what's to say about Dolly? She sold
over 100 million albums, starred in several movies, unbelievable philanthropist.
She did so much good in the world. She donated
millions of dollars in medical research, disaster relief. There was
the Dolly Parton Imagination Library back in 1995. She's gifted
over 280 million free books to children across the U.S., Canada,
(16:05):
the U.K., Ireland, and Australia. She has Dollywood, of course,
but she was just such a positive, beautiful soul in
this industry.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Honestly, I don't know that there are many people more
positive than her. She just exuded positive.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Energy and incredibly talented. She wrote a lot, not just
for herself, but for other artists. Obviously, the most famous
probably being I Will Always Love You that Whitney Houston
just made into an anthem.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Jolene.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Jolene.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Nine to five.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Yeah, it goes on and on and just a lot
of shock still. And just when you think of Dolly,
you can't help but smile.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Thanks so much for hanging out. AllMario.com to relive any
and all of our radio fun. We are back to
do it again tomorrow. Till then, Mario and Courtney Lopez
saying good night.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
On with Mario Lopez.
