Speaker 2 (00:03):

fired up to get to hang with you for the
next few hours. A lot of radio fun to get into,
including taking a quick musical trip into the past with
our throwback soundtrack. Plus, helpful life hack or two in
Corto's Corner. Gonna ask a random question and break down
a possibly controversial new list, Frazier found. Looking forward to that.
We got all that latest buzz and more, so turn
(00:24):
it up. And let's get the fun started. You're on
with Mario Courtney Lopez. You're on Mario Courtney Lopez. Phil
Collins revealing he came close to death in 2024 as
a result of his alcohol issues. He told the Sunday
Times that he stopped drinking after a previous health alert
in 2012. However, he started again in 2023 and it
landed him in the hospital. He said his kidneys were
(00:46):
failing and added, my organs were just seizing up. He
also revealed that people were visiting him to say their goodbyes,
but he doesn't recall any of it. Despite the scare,
he says he's much healthier now and he hasn't had
a drink. Since that's great to hear. And I had
no idea.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
And he had a 12 year hiatus. And then for
some reason, pick it back up.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
It just shows you your organs. Just they're tired. They
don't want it. Even with a break.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Right. More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (01:11):

I'm Mario Courtney Lopez. My wife getting ready to share
something fresh in Kordo's Corner. What are we talking about today, honey?
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Well, I've got a really effective and slightly shady parenting
hack for you.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Those are my favorite.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
I know. A little shady. Never hurt anybody.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Back with Kordo's Corner in 10. I'm Mario Courtney Lopez.
Making a quick pit stop into Kordo's Corner for a
helpful tip or two. What do you got, honey?
Speaker 3 (02:14):
So it's a bit of a shady parenting hack. I'm
like the queen of shady parenting.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yes, you are.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
So anytime your kid sees a new toy online and
starts asking for it, have them show it to you
on the phone or tablet and then just tell them
it's AI. It's not real. Nine times out of 10,
they'll just accept it and move on disappointedly, but they'll
move on to something new.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
That's a great hack unless their friend already has the toy.
And then you can be like, Oh, that's a knockoff.
It doesn't even exist. They got a booty version.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
True.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
What up, Mario?
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Courtney Lopez here. More music coming up right after a
mom joke from Kordo. What you got, honey? Let's bring it.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
All right. So listen, five aunts rented an apartment with
another five aunts.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Now there are 10 aunts.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
10 ads.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Oh, you're not going to yell at me about my delivery?
Speaker 4 (03:06):
No, that was pretty good.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
That was good. I've actually posted that one. That's good.
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
I'm rubbing off.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Mario Courtney Lopez here, keeping the music coming your way
as we squeeze in some quick buzz. Congrats, I think,
to Ginny Liu, a six-year-old pug just named the world's
ugliest dog.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Poor thing.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Poor thing.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Pugs kind of look unfortunate anyway. They got like their
eyes really wide apart and one looks like it's going
one way, the other one looks like it's going the
other way. She was crowned the winner at the 50th
annual World's Ugliest Dog Contest. It's been going on for
a while. It's held Friday at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds
in Santa Rosa, California. Her owner, Michelle Grady, going to
get $ 5, 000 in the opportunity for Jimmy to appear on
(03:45):
a mug root beer can. It was his fourth attempt
to be declared the ugliest. Finally won.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
How would you feel if your mom kept taking you
to these contests?
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Well, you don't know, fortunately.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
You don't know.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
You are looking around probably going, This again? These dogs
are not the most beautiful looking dogs out here. All right,
let's get back to music. Mario and Courtney Lopez here.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
This is from at Zoltan Comedy, and he said.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
What if Netflix is funding all these murders just for
the documentaries? Like what if they're just like murdering people?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Well, not necessarily doing the murders, but maybe providing the resources. No,
it's obviously not true. Very, very funny, though. Man, they
do nail a good documentary. What was the last one
we saw that was wild? There was no murder involved.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
The shipwreck one, right?
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Well, shipwreck was great, but also.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
No, the toxic love triangle.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Toxic love story. That's what it was.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
I saw the preview for that.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
There was no murder involved, but boy, they are all
just nuts. And that is worth checking out.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
More Mario Lopez next.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yo, I'm Mario Courtney Lopez. Music rolls on after some
quick buzz. Ariana Grande. going IG official with ex Ricky Alvarez.
She moved on pretty quick. She posted a 20 photo
carousel on August 12th with two subtle mirror selfies of
them together, tagging them in both. They of course dated
back in 2015, but they broke up. She sparked rumors
that they had rekindled back in June when she changed
(05:59):
lyrics and thank you next to we always find our
way back. You know what? Ariana don't like to be alone.
She's ready to move on. Thank you next is more appropriate. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Well, speaking of Instagram official, Make sure you hit us
up and click follow to join the fam. Go to
IG official with us. Add on with Mario Lopez. You
won't be sorry. We post so many fun things.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Mario Lopez, music rolls on after some quick buzz. The
Miami Vice reboot is adding some more star power. Michael B.
Jordan and Austin Butler already set to star as Tubbs
in Crockett. Now, I want to pause for a second
because I love Miami Vice back in the day. Is
it just me? Do I seem old in saying this?
(06:56):
But Michael B. and Austin Butler seem a little young
to play those roles. I feel like Don Johnson and
Philip Michael Thomas were a little more mature, a little older.
They feel, they felt more like men without due respect.
They seem too young.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
I agree with you, but I think they're about the
same age. I think people just look younger or something.
Is that because we're older?
Speaker 4 (07:18):
I don't understand.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
They just look like they're undercover for high school.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
No, they look like they should be in 21 Jump Street.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Not Miami Vice.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Anyway, we got Whitney Peake joining the cast, possibly playing Tubbs'
love interest. You may know her from the revival of
Gossip Girl. This movie, not a TV show, will put
a new spin on the old school show that starred
Don and Philip. And I'm looking forward to seeing how
they're going to interpret it. It's going to be a minute, though.
Film isn't set for release until May 2021. Mario and
(07:47):
Courtney Lopez here squeezing in some quick health buzz. If
you want to live longer, pick up a book. Apparently,
people who read books for as little as 30 minutes
a day live nearly two years longer than non-readers. A
new study found a 20% reduction in mortality risk. That's
pretty significant.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Wow. Researchers found that this boost in longevity only works
with books, not newspapers or magazines. And no pictures. And
definitely not social media or online articles.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
What about radio scripts?
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Well, there's no pictures. They think deep reading... is holding
a complex narrative in your mind over many days. And
it exercises the brain in ways that quick skimming can't match.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
There's something to be said about reading a good, good book.
I was into it for a minute right before I
went to bed. I've just gotten really busy. I do
want to get back into it.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
No, you haven't done that.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
I want to get back into it once I get
back into my groove here. But shout out to my buddy,
Steve Kim, who's an avid reader. He reads a book
a week. He's a speed reader. He's a speed reader
and he reads a book a week. And a smart guy, too.
But I'm going to save this for our fight podcast
to talk to him about it because now he is
(08:59):
going to live longer than most.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
More Mario Lopez next.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
On with Mario Courtney Lopez wasting no time getting right
to a random question. What do you got?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
If you could only eat one food for the rest
of your life, but it had to be something you
currently hate, what would you pick?
Speaker 2 (09:15):
You know me, I pretty much eat anything. The only thing... No,
that's not true. Okay, what do I hate? Carrots.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
You don't like cooked carrots?
Speaker 3 (09:21):
I don't... You don't like a lot of vegetables in general.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I don't hate them.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Hates vegetables.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Oh, no, peas. Hates veggie tails.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Okay, well then that's what I would do. Because it'd
be good for you and I would eat cooked carrots
and peas. Yes. Something I truly do not like, though,
is uni. It's... Uni's a certain type of sushi that
looks like Baby poo.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Ew.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
And it is disgusting.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
All right.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
And I'll eat anything but that. Like Meatloaf said. But
I won't do that.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
But I won't eat that.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I won't eat that.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
If you draw the line at food, that must be disgusting.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Mario Lopez will be right back.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Mario Lopez here, keeping the music coming your way as
we let you know that iHeartRadio is getting ready to
bring you the biggest Latin artists in the world on
one stage again at our iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina. It's going
down Saturday, October 17th. at the Casella Center in Miami.
Allmari.com slash Fiesta Latina to find out everything you need
to know, including a list of the incredible artists on
this year's lineup. Just hit up Ticketmaster.com to get them
(10:22):
before they sell out. Mario Lopez, more music and fun
coming your way. But first, got to dispel another TikTok myth.
TikTok at it again. One of the biggest myths on
social media right now is that blending up fruits and
veggies will result in eternal sunscreen.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
I didn't know that was a rumor.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Okay. Okay.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Skin experts say there's nothing to that. To avoid a sunburn,
your best bet is to use sunscreens that have broad
spectrum and at least an SPF 30 rating. Even when
it's cloudy. But I also read recently that there's certain
chemicals in the sunscreen that could cause damage to your skin.
So it's pick your poison. I'm going to go with
the sunscreen because I think the sun is a lot
(11:00):
more powerful.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Yeah, I was told you're not supposed to go with
chemical sunscreens. You're supposed to go with a different thing.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Like a natural thing.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Yeah, I don't know what it is. It's a different base.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Just stay in the shade. All right, let's get back
to music. Yo, I'm Mario Courtney Lopez. You want some
great advice? Listen to your gut. If you have any
major life decisions you're contemplating right now, might want to
listen to your intuition. When it comes to things like
taking a new job, deciding where to move, or ending
a relationship, a survey says most of us just use
intuition or just a gut feeling.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
100% always trust your intuition. That's followed by prayers and
general vibes. So what's interesting is that we don't often
do a financial analysis or research possible outcomes. We just
go with our gut and pray for the best. I
find that very true because....
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Because you don't wrestle with guilt. Because if you do,
then everyone's like, ah, I should have went like that. Exactly.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
You know, I always say, do what you got to do.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Hold on.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
I want to write it down. What is it?
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Do what you got to do.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Mario Courtney Lopez here. Music rolls on after some quick
health buzz. Want to keep your blood pressure in check?
We eat nuts.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
I do.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
New research shows eating a handful of nuts each day
means a 20% lower risk of developing high blood pressure.
That's pretty significant. Nuts contain a lot of nutrients, including fiber,
plant-based protein, and vitamins E, K, C, and B. It's
also a healthy fat. I love a handful of nuts,
whether it's almonds, cashews, pistachios, not salted, by the way,
(12:36):
in its raw form. But it can hold you over, too,
if you have a meal coming up, but you're still
a little hungry.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Good tip here. Mario Lopez here. Getting close to the
end of our radio fun. Just one last thing to
get to, plus probably enough time to play a request
or two before I get out of here. So if
you've got a song you want to hear, hit me
up at OnMario on X. You're on Mario Courtney Lopez.
Almost the end of our radio fun. But before we go,
we've got to get to one last thing. A new
survey found that over half of adults say maintaining friendships
(13:05):
feels like a second job. with many spending more than
a half hour a day texting, checking in, and making plans.
Nearly half say they're exhausted from doing most of the
work to stay connected, while others wish friends would make
more of an effort to keep in touch. This is
so relatable. A study also found that while three-quarters of
people believe friendships give life purpose and meaning, hobbies, exercise,
busy schedules often take priority. The survey also found that
(13:27):
the average person has eight friends, but only four are
considered truly close, especially if you have kids between your schedule,
their schedule, It's hard. You have to make a real
effort and schedule it because it just doesn't happen.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
No, it's exhausting and it's too much. And I love
all my friends.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Yeah, it has nothing to do with your love of
your friends.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
The ones who live across the country, across, you know,
on the other side, on the East Coast, like they
know I love them, even though we don't talk all
the time. But it's just, it's just too hard.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Like I have friends who live in England.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
So it's like we have to schedule times to talk
because like the time difference is too crazy.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
But if they're real friends, they'll understand.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Yeah. More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
All right, that's it. Thanks so much for hanging out
with us as always. If you missed anything, hit up
on Mario.com to relive any and all of our radio fun.
Back to do it again tomorrow. Until then, Mario and
Courtney Lopez saying good night.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
On with Mario Lopez.
