Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez tebyone Mario Lopez Jody right
now on Zoom.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
You know, I'm from projects like Oz, Lost, The Matrix
and so much more.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Actor Harold Parano, How you doing, Harold, I'm good, brother.
How are you well? Nice to see you. Nice to
see you?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Season four man, congrats your show from right now on
MGM plus. Kind of a sci fi horror series. Looks
really cool and pretty wild for those who may not
be familiar, what exactly is the premise?
Speaker 3 (00:30):
So promise about a group of people who who entered
into small little town. It feels like small town America anywhere,
and once you get into the town, there's no road out.
You're just you're always stuck and then at night you're
being hunted by creatures. So and that's just the beginning
(00:51):
of it. So we're four seasons into it now and
which we're still trying to develop the series about why
we're trapped there, who these monsters are, what the other
monsters that are? Yeah, we are, So we're all still
developing theories about that now. But it's been four seasons
of a lot of good fun.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
So that's awesome, man, that's such a fun premise you
play great Name Boyd Stevens, and the Great Name fifth
and final season has also been announced.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Congratulations on that. I know you're going to start filming soon.
Can you say, what's going on with your character?
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Well, you know, my character is boy like you just said,
Boyd Stevens, really cool, tough name. It's the toughest I've
been in my whole career. And he's a self appointed
sheriff of the town and he's tasked himself with getting
everybody out of this town. And the problem is, you
just can't figure it out. And he has an impending
(01:49):
Parkinson's disaster, you know, coming down the pipe like he's
got he's got the shakes and tremors that come.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Every once in a while.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
And so Boyd Stevens in this fourth season is sort
of at a real breaking point. He had declared in
season three that they wouldn't break him, but it feels
like we're really close to breaking him right now. It
feels like pretty close to Dunn. So you'll have to
watch the fourth season and see if he makes it
through there.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
But I think, okay, okay, okay, that's a lot going on,
a lot of layers there for your characters.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Cool Man.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
You're also part of this upcoming indie film called and
Outcomes the Wolf, which is inspired by the punk rock
album or the band I should say, Rancid.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
I remember Rancid. What can you tell us about your
role in that one?
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well, just a tiny role in that one, out Come
to the Wolves, And it's really about these young kids
in a small town just trying to find their way
out and unfortunately they take the wrong path, and you know,
the path of like selling drugs and stuff like many
kids in urban areas do, and you know, and the
outcomes there. I play a Jamaica dad who's trying to
(03:01):
keep his son on the street and narrow, so that
that one's not so much about me as much as
it is about the younger generation of actors coming up,
and which I'm always really happy to be supportive of.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Man.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
You know, there's a bunch of new talented kids that
are that are showing up every day and like and
if I get to do movies with them, that's what
I try to do.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
That's that's very cool. These small towns are working for
your project. Wise, where I hadn't thought about that, right,
But where do you shoot from?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
So we should come up in Nova Scotia and Halifax.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Okay, so really really far away.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
And that's that's the most unfortunate.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Thing about it.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
My kids are here, and so getting to see them
while you know, like leading the show is is quite tricky.
You know, they're in school and stuff like that. My
middle one is going to Stanford.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
I'm so excited for congratulations big times number one university.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Man. Nice, we'll say that again.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Number one university. Nice, number one. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yeah, she worked her butt off to get there, and so,
you know, so then looking really hard me being all
the way over there. It's really tricky. But that being said,
Nova Scotia and Halifax in particular are beautiful, yes you cheful.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
And very very cold in the winter.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Well in the winter. Yeah. We shot one season of
the Winter Bro.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Next level.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Huh yeah, it's next level. Let's go to the Like
we all left there going like, no, thanks, we're good.
They don't want to do that again.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah yeah, yeah, but summers are really great.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
They've got beautiful lakes and and all these little little
towns that you know, Wolfville and Pei. It's it's really
really beautiful up there. Man's cool, and our crew is
also spectacular.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Nice. Nice, And I've tried your bourbon.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Oh you have a bourbon uh that your partner with
Tay Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Malcolm d League called sable that blackly,
but I tried it is good man.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
How'd you get into the spirits game?
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Oh? Thanks manok number one, thank you for saying that,
because we are really really proud of it. Like, we
really wanted to make something that's uh, that people enjoy,
that was really drinkable, that you'd come back to and
that you'd share with friends. And that's how we got
into it. In the Best Man movies, each time the
characters Merge and Lance and all those characters, whenever they
(05:14):
got together to commiserate, they commiserated over a brown spirit.
And when we did the final chapters, Malcolm Lee declared,
I'm not doing this again. So I wanted to find
something for us to do together. And I met this
really great little company called the Spoken Spirits, and they
make really interesting spirits through really interesting technology, and so
(05:39):
I asked the Fellows if they were interested in doing that,
and we went and tested everything. We tested rise and
Japanese style bourbons and whiskeys, and we came up with
we landed on this Sable bourbon that we are really
really happy about. I'm really proud of.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yeah, yeah, congratulations on that. Good. Thank you man.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Well glad everything is working out, Harold.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
You're killing it.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
And listen new episodes of from premiere Sunday nights on
MGM Plus and you can catch all the previous seasons
right there as well.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Thanks for checking in, Harold.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, man, some day you got to come with me. Morrison,
Tay and Malcolm just you know, have some Sable, have
a lot of sing let me know a lot. Like
you were just saying at our age, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I just can't go back to back. I'll take that.
I'll take it over. Let me know, we will take
care of with Mario Lopez
