Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez's.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Uproll Mario Lopez Ronnie right now, you know where's Detective
Amanda Rollins from Law and Order SVU.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Actress Kelly Giddish. How you doing, Kelly?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
I'm good And how are you?
Speaker 1 (00:13):
I'm well?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Thank you you star on the show. That's one of
the legendary shows. Really that's been on forever now, what
twenty seven seasons something like that with Marishka Hargate. You
even had a Law and Ordered trend dance that was
that was I did it.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
I did it with the whole family. It was fun.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
And here's the thing about these Law and Order episodes.
I find myself guilty all the time. You start watching
one and then you get hooked, and then you go
in or another, and before you know it, it's like
a marathon, unintended, so addicting.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
And some people are like, well, you know, I'm watching
it with my husband and he's seen it, but I haven't,
so we have to keep watching it. But he's mad
because he knows who the bad guy is, but then
he can't remember that. It's like so when you get
into it with your with your spouse, you're like, I've
seen this one, Can we skip it? And he's like, no,
absolutely not, we're watching. You have to watch the next one,
you know, you do.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
What's what's going on with your character during the season, it's.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
You know, I mean she came back. Rowlin's had been
bouncing around from from job to job to job, and
then she was like, I think I need to come
back to this for you, and Kelly Giddish was like, yes,
yes you do. Reference. So it's you know, she's married,
she's got three kids, she's got security, she she's grated
her job, and you know, I think just moving through,
(01:33):
you know, I think the audience really loves seeing Olivia
and Rollins like that, that relationship, that friendship, you know,
it's it's there's so few female friendships like that portrayed.
That We've been together for fifteen seasons, you know, and
it wasn't like okay, you guys are best friends, go
it was like earned earned trust on screen off screen,
(01:55):
you know, And I think all that shows up in
each episode, you know, so we can fight and we
can get you know, get back together. We can you know.
It's like it's that whole thing. It's really fun to play.
And I think the audience really responds to it.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
It absolutely shows up. And I love that you got
my girl, Melissa McCarthy making a cameo. How much funny
is with her on the set that she's awesome, amazing.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
That mullet and she she they came in and they
put a full on mullet in this belt that was
like this big on her. I was just like, yes,
oh my god, this is great. This is great. And
seeing Maroshka's face because she had no idea, Yeah, how
surprised she was was really a joyable moment.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
That's awesome. And you met your husband on set.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
I did, I did, he was, he was driving me.
He's a teamster here in New York.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
It's the best. I love that. It's a real person
full disclosure, Kelly.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
And I got to hang in New York not too
uh not too long ago, so it's nice to see you.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, yeah, yet again.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
And I love this story because he's a teamster, which
is which is the guys who drive that's in the
part of the team Straws Union.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
They drive you everywhere.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
And he's he's a civilian, which is uh billion, which
is great.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
And you have three boys. Yeah, that's a lot.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, it's it is. It's crazy. And I you know,
I was pregnant with the third one, and my husband
was like, you want a girl, right, And I was
like at first, so I don't care, just as long
as it's you know, you have two healthy children. You
can pray boys a third one, third healthy one. And
I was like, but honestly, I'm good with the boys.
Like I know how they operate. I know, when you're
in the park, they can just find a tree to
(03:29):
pee on. It's a lot easier, you know, Like at
this point, like it's it's I know what I'm doing
with that comfortable. And I very much embrace you know,
being a boy.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Mom and they love their mom my boys love my
wife to death. But yeah, you're hearing all the noises
and all that, and it's probably Wrestlmania there all the time.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
And so yeah, wait till they get a little older
and get a little more rambunctious. That's gonna be crazy,
is it true.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
One of your first jobs in entertainment was on Broadway
working with Fara Foce.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Wow, Yeah, I was because I.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Always thought that I would do theater. You know, I
studied theater in undergrad and I moved to New York
and I was like, if I can just do theater,
maybe maybe land a commercial every now and then to
actually pay the bills, I'll be so happy. And I
was here for less than a year, and I was
I got on Broadway and I.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Was like, yes, I knew it.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
I knew I had it. I knew I could do it.
And then I had to steal fear A Falsett's husband
in the play, and I was like, wait, but she's
so hot, you know. And she was an older lady,
but I mean she's hot. She was so hot and
so cool. And and then the play went into previews
for a week and and then it closed before it
(04:43):
had its official opening, and I was like, oh, I
don't have it. I don't have it.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Yeah, welcome to Like it was such a rollercoaster, but
it was such an invaluable experience, you know, watching her,
watching her come back and doing a play and seeing
all the press that she had to do for it,
and and all the just all all of the weight
that it took for her to to go, you know what,
I'm going to do a play on Broadway and all
of you guys can just hush them outs and I'm
(05:10):
going to do my thing and do it well and just.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Watching, you know, as a twenty two year old, you know,
seeing a woman like that go maneuver all of that,
it was, it was a really invaluable experience.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah, that's special, very cool. Yeah, I noticed a guitar
behind you.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Do you play? Yeah? Yeah, I play?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Do you Okay?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Not guitar, pillow, drums, and my my daughter plays guitar
and piano. My boys piano and drums.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
But okay, you've been playing for a while.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, yeah, since I was sixteen.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
I played.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Just I play enough to sing and just to kind
of just just sit and play and not think. All right,
I play enough to do that.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
You know, who do you jam out to? What do
you like to jam out to?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
I mean I just learned different songs, like anything by
Lucinda Williams. I can sit and play, you know, Jason Esball,
I love Zach Bryan. You know, it's just like if
you hear a song on the radio, You're like, I
think I can play this eminem song on guitar. You know,
it doesn't matter, you know, it just whatever hits you,
you know, and changing it into it makes you hear
(06:14):
a song a different way, maybe changing, changing the temple whatever.
But you're a drummer, so you're like the cool guys.
Everybody has to come over to your house to jam, right.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Well it's funny because I just got a new set
too for my son, much to my wife, Sugar, and
it's gonna be nice and loud in there.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
But it is fun.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
You can kind of jam out to like you can
kind of make the beat or any of your any
of the songs. You can sort of acclam.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Yeah. But my brother is seven years younger than me,
and I remember him getting a drum set and they
put in the basement, and I mean our house was,
you know, three stories, but even in the very.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Top you cause you're just like, wow, I'm so proud
of him.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, exactly that you're always relegated to the back or
the bassment or something.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Yeah, poor poor drummers.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
It's so cool because everybody has to come to your house.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
That's true, can't travel with that's cool. Well, it's so
nice to speak with you again and listen everyone. Be
sure to catch up on season twenty seven of Law
and Order SVU right now on Hulu and Peacock Kelly,
