Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez. So bro, Mario Lopezz joining
me right now. Actor in Grammy winning comic Man, Nate Bargatzi.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
How you doing, Nate doing good man?

Speaker 3 (00:10):
You know, getting ready for this movie?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Yeah, congratulations, new comedy Breadwinner.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
It is out now.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
You wrote and produced it and of course are starring
in it. It's a pretty funny premise described that for
people not familiar.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Yeah, yeah, it's I mean, essentially, I saw I'm a
car dealer and so I worked. My wife is a
stay at home mom. She invents something goes on Shark Tank.
So our life kind of just reverse roles and it's
just me trying to figure it out with three lovely daughters,
and you know then eventually just having to go like, look,

(00:46):
I gotta do it my way.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
This is the only way I know.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
And it's a very fun, sweet, cute movie and very funny,
and you know, that's what I really wanted to go after,
was just trying to make something that was you know,
live action and funny, and you know, just everybody, the
whole family can come to.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Well that that sort of encompasses a lot of your comedy.
And I think why you're you're so successful too. You
all generations and and different just diverse groups can like it.
And it's I love it and it inspired by I'm
assuming real life sort of events.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Is it true? Oh yeah, yeah, you don't know where
your daughters go to school? Is that true?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah? Well they well they she went to a weird
middle school. Middle school got me that it was not
near where the elementary was. Uh so I was kind
of shocked by that.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yeah, nothing's better than your your kids school being geographically convenient.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
That just makes life better.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Her elementary school and her high school is is unbelievable,
way close. So those she's going to high school and
that she'll be in ninth grade next year. But it's
uh yeah, like the the middle school is kind of
like a bit of a bit of a dry So
it was that it's based on that, and it's based
on I had a story I told him my one

(01:58):
of my specials about someone from the school called and
ask too what my daughter's bus number was, And I
mean I was just like.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
What do you Why would you ever call?

Speaker 3 (02:08):
You know, you would do better asking a lady there,
just a random lady figure it out quicker than I could, Right.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Hey, Is it true, man, that you helped recruit a
top QB in high school at a Vanderbilt by promising
him a scene in the movie.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Yes, he's in the movie, Jared Curtis. He was the
number one quarter number one quarterback, you know, recruit, biggest
recruit bandies had. I mean it was a lot I
was you know, it's we had our past quarterback. But
he's from Nashville, so there's a lot of stuff. He's
moving like he didn't make the decision because of this movie.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
But that's the fun.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Thing within il is like I can kind of jump
in and be like, look, I'll put you in a movie.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
So that's awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
You know. So we got him in the movie and
uh yeah, he's awesome and we're excited to see what
he does with Vandy football.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
That's great. That's great.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
And you're also you also have a game show ABC
called Greatest Average American.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
People are dating it right now. How do you like that?
That space? It's great.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
It's like, you know you when you do the shows again,
it's like something that I just.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Wanted to be silly.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
I'm trying to go a little silly right now with
stuff and fun and you know, just easy to watch
and it's fun to see the kids. A lot of
kids watch it. Like we went to go eat recently.
There's a bunch of twelve thirteen year old little boys
there and then it was they they went they were like, oh,
we love the game show. So it was like interesting
to get that dynamic and see who's getting to watch

(03:38):
because it's it's again, it's a creating the game show
something that you can watch with your family. Like, you know,
we used to watch a lot of stuff and you know,
Saved by the Bell and ign all that, and so
you know, it's like going back to trying to somewhat
create some of that kind of stuff where you're everybody
can sit and watch and everybody likes it.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
That's the best. That's the best right there.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
And with all that you got going on, you're gonna
be on tour this summer, the Big Dumiz World Tour.
What what what topics are you hitting on the road.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
It's, uh, you know, I got I got a fun
ai joke that I open with and then you know,
just talking about my family and you know everything. What
I love about stand Up is if you go back
to my first albums, to now it's just kind of
like life, and I just talk about just kind of
where you are and those different parts of your life,

(04:29):
and so having a daughter and her having sleepovers and
to me and my wife would be married twenty years
this year, so talk about that, and so it's.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Just a yeah, it's a fun hour.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Very this hour has been very fun to mold together.
And uh yeah, I'll be taking this special soon and
so it should come out later this year. I think.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Congrats on that, brother. And I also heard I don't
know if this is true.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
You're planning to build a theme park in Nashville and
your hometown. I am, Are you gonna have nate Land
right there like Dollywood?

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Like Dollywood? Yes, I mean we're not. We're like four
hours from Dollywood. We're not trying to take away from Dollywood.
But yeah, it's like it's it says in Nateland, the
park's not gonna be just it's not like it's a
park about me.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
It's it's it's.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Nashville had a theme park on opy Land, and here's
my first job, and then they shut it down when
I was in high school, and I think the whole
city just was like, what are you doing if we
love this theme park, and Nashville is a place that
can uh have a full theme park. It has the
population for it, and so again it fits in with

(05:36):
what I want to do is just be able to
create memories for families and have them come. And the
goal is to it's called Nyland, but I always think,
you know, I want one day eventually. You don't really
know who Nate is. It's not about it's not about me.
It's just about creating memories and having a fun. You know,
you want stuff to go do with your kids, and.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
I love it. Yeah, that's great. Now.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I got a personal question, if you don't mind me asking.
I was looking at the trailer for uh, for your movie,
right and I was and I was like, damn, his
hair looks good.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
This weird looks good.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
At what point did you start going great and then
just say, you know what'screw, I'm gonna let it keep going.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
It just happened like it was. You know, it's like,
I won't go bald if the you know, if the
genetic thing works.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
No, you're good right now.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
If you made it to this good, you're good to like,
oh yeah, you're good once you get past thirty five
are good.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, all right, so good, that's great to you. And
then so with the Gray it was just like I
went great quicker and it started it was like sprinkling
in there. Yeah, and then it just is like you
just you know, I was just doing stand up so
it wasn't like I had to do it for any
rolls or anything. Yeah, and then it became cool. So
then you're like, it just all kind of works out.
That's like I think, if you just stick with something,

(06:52):
you can usually wait out until it all comes back around.
That's like clothes, anything you can just you could stick
with a style. You're going to do some rough times
in the middle, but they don't btual come back around.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
See because full disclosure, I started going gray ship about
ten years ago or something. And as you can say,
I use just for a minute, I'm like fucking Anderson
Cooper under here if I don't pay, So I'm debating,
but I go see, but I see, I'll see like you,
and I'm like, see if I can do it like that,
like a little salt and peppery, it stays.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
But then min I like you the way you are.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
We don't you know, I like.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
That name I like that.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
If Mario changes, it's gonna throw off the world.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
That's gonna make I don't know, that's like Lebron, You're like,
I'm not ready for this man, right right, you go,
just be you.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
People will wake up there in a different time. You're
kind of our north star.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
So just don't do anything.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
It sounds good, all Right'm gonna take my time. I
appreciate that. Thank you, Thank you for that. Listen, man,
congratulations on everything. It's nice to finally talk to you
and everyone. Be sure to check out his new comedy Breadwinner,
which is in theaters nationwide right now.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Thanks you tell you too.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
That were the I'm maybe the most I did about
you talking about my movie in a hotel. In the hotels, Yeah, yeah,
that will be that will be probably my greatest achievement.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Oh, I'm gonna totally talk about your movie in the hotel,
and it would.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Mean I've watched so much in these hotels. That's hilarious
watch and I you know, and so it'll be very cool.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I'm gonna do a special one now and I'm gonna
get it to you somehow.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
We're gonna we're gonna send you the clip. I'm gonna
send you the clip as soon as I get all right.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
