Speaker 1 (00:02):
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything
and everybody. You hear that exclusive? You know she don't
lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot. Hey y'all,
what's up?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
It's Lauren LaRosa and this is another episode of The
Latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on
all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the
conversation that shakes the room, baby! Now, you guys know
we always kick off the show behind the scenes of
The Grind. And today, kicking it off behind the scenes
of The Grind, we are almost headed.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Into a weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
And this weekend for me, I am looking forward to
honestly not really having too much real things to do.
It's been probably like the last, I would say last
two weekends have been pretty chill for me.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
And I say having nothing to do, but.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
What I begin to do is I take those weekends
where I don't have to really be too much of
anywhere or get up and rip and run as much
as I have to do and work on my personal
my personal business. Behind the scenes of all of this stuff,
there is a business foundation that I talk to you
guys a lot about, you know, how I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Moving, shaking, maneuvering, figuring things out.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
So I use these weekends where things are a bit
slow or I'm just a little bit more local. Like I,
you know, I have pro con that is happening in
New York this weekend. It's in New York at the
Edelman on Friday, October 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m.
And then I am in Philadelphia on Saturday. Look, I'm
talking about I ain't doing nothing in here. I go
(01:33):
telling you all the things I'm doing. I always do that.
And then I am in Philadelphia on Saturday. Me and
Pekin Cole from Slutty Vegan and recently from Real Housewives
of Atlanta will be speaking at the Get It Out
the Mud five-year anniversary networking conference. Now, this conference is
in line with an organization or a company called Done
(01:54):
and Done, which is an executive assistant company.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
So they.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
give you assistants who help you organize all your business
and your life and all your administrative things that go
along with, you know, making sure that you can show
up the best way that you know how. I've been
working with their company for some years. I actually met
the owner of the company.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Her name is Ajay.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Many, many years ago, she booked me to come and
speak at one of their first anniversary events.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
And I met her and we began working together.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
And that has been such an experience, like really learning
how to delegate and trust team has been an experience.
I remember after meeting her and officially starting to work
with her, she used to always say to me, like,
you got to trust me.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Like, you don't let me know nothing. You don't let
me in on anything. I didn't want her to.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
It was just like, you know, people are in your
bank records and they know, you know, she's making medical
appointments for me and my mom and my grandmother and
knowing addresses and just all the stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
But as I've grown in business, I.
Oh, my God. Having an executive assistant, an admin.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Just having team and people who really believe in you,
and it doesn't have to be big team, it's so important.
But one of the things that I'm glad that I
was always honest with myself about, the fact, one of
the facts that I'm glad that I was always honest
with myself about is the fact that in order to
have team to delegate to and like a manager, you
need people, you need stuff. Like you need something to
(03:16):
manage to have a manager. You need administrative things to
have an admin person. A lot of times when I
talk to people who are trying to come up and
trying to figure it out, or even if they are like,
you know, at a certain point in their life where
things are moving for them, they always talk to me
about different, you know, parts of their business that they
want to hire people for. Normally, a lot of people
(03:37):
always hit me up and talk to me about when
should they hire a publicist. And I'm like, yo, as
a person who used to work in PR, I did
fashion PR, as a person who is in the media
and creating conversation, and I work alongside a lot of
people's publicists and managers and all the things, I tell
people all the time, even when people know who you
are and they may be checking for you a little bit,
(03:59):
a publicist isn't somebody you just keep at bay and
be just paying all this money to. And that goes
across the board with any type of team member, whether
it's an executive assistant, it's a manager, it's an agent.
a stylist, whatever it is, if you don't have consistent
work for them and that work isn't generating the income
for you to be able to pay them, it is
not worth the money to just be putting out all
(04:21):
this money.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yes, it does take money to make money. You do
have to invest in yourself.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I literally am always doing so much investing in myself
whether it's sitting down and taking a second to like
work on my own personal to-do list that has nothing
to do with breaking news and other people's business or
if it's knowing when it's time to add people to
the team move people around on the team or just
things like that but you need things to do like
(04:48):
they need to be having things to do or you're
just wasting money and you don't want to put yourself
in a deficit you don't want to be in a
negative trying to come up because When it's your time,
it's your time. No amount of money investment will just
make things work. Everything is about timing and alignment. And
when the timing and alignment align, then you have the
team and you build the team around all of that to,
(05:08):
you know, keep elevating things. So I'll be out in
the community locally this weekend talking a bit about business
and building business and working on my own business. So, yeah,
that's where I'm at with it. Behind the scenes of
the grind. All right, y'all, let's get on into the latest.
A lot of craziness going down this morning.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Breaking news.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Actually, I mean, it was breaking while I was on
air with The Breakfast Club early this a.m., but also
literally still breaking actively at this point. We are still
getting minute by minute, hour by hour updates. Rick Ross, rapper, entrepreneur,
you know, hip hop force. Rick Ross has been arrested. Now,
(05:52):
this after his ex-girlfriend, a woman named Jasmine, who was
the last known girlfriend of Rick Ross's.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
They were very public.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
We've seen them out and about together all the time,
all across social media. All of this comes after she
made claims that he allegedly woke her up in a
jealous rage over a picture that she was tagged in
on social media. She then alleges that Rick Ross slapped her.
choked her and slammed her into a wall. Now, earlier
this a.m., when the story broke, I saw a CBS
(06:26):
News article, and, you know, there were a bunch of
jail records circulating online with Rick Ross's mugshot and the
charges that were listed. There was no background context, but
now we have some. So back in August, August 28th,
a little bit over a month ago, this woman is
claiming that she was asleep in Rick Ross's home, or
(06:47):
a home that they shared, that Rick Ross allegedly woke
her up in a jealous rage over a photo that
she was tagged in on social media. She then goes
on to say that things turned physical quickly. Now, the
reporting is saying that this woman told police that Rick
Ross questioned her about lying to him and then slapped
her in her face. And she goes on to say
that every single time he accused her of being involved
(07:11):
with another person because she was lying and she denied it,
he hit her again. the reports continue that the woman
is claiming that Rick Ross struck her in the chest
several times, choked her to the point where she could
not breathe, grabbed her by her.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Ponytail and slammed her against a wall.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
From what she goes by on social media, uh, Jasmine Kendrick,
who is a model, um, an influencer online. And again,
she was in a very, very public relationship with Rick Ross.
I feel like they started dating. Like it was pretty recent. Um, Yeah,
they begin dating in 2025. So it's been several months. Yeah,
(07:50):
it's been several months. But prior to her, Rick Ross
was seen with....
Speaker 1 (07:56):
He's had a pick of the litter, okay? And he
has a type.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
He's always pretty much seen, recently anyway, like his last
couple relationships, they are, you know, young models, black women,
but still young models who, you know, are building career, building,
you know, different things for themselves. And she's alleging that
in this situation, it wasn't as perfect as it seemed online.
(08:21):
It never is, though, but this is a bit extreme
if he is guilty of the things that she is alleging. Now,
I will say last week, Jasmine got on Instagram and
accused him of putting his hands on her.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
She posted a photo of her lip that was swollen.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
And she says in the caption last week, I don't
know a lot of things, but I do know that
a man that puts his hands on me is a
man that never loved me and never will. Now, according
to sources who are speaking to outlets now, They say
that the woman, presumably Jasmine, gave police photos of her
injuries and Rick Ross voluntarily surrendered himself to police but
(08:56):
did not talk to cops about her allegations. Now, according
to court records, Rick Ross has, oh, he's already seen
a judge.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
He's seen a judge. He's pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
And you see how fast that updated for me in
reporting because in the beginning of this, literally, I only
knew what I knew, what was being reported, what was breaking,
but things are moving and escalating quickly. And because it's,
You know, a celebrity with the name as big as Ross.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Mr. Roberts is a celebrity. So I don't know. So
what does that mean? I don't know to whatever degree
your honor can, but I've asked that his release be expedited.
He's in a red jumpsuit. And for purposes of his safety,
I don't know what your honor can do.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Hi, Mr.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Roberts.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I have no idea who you are, except there's somebody
here in the court who's going to be treated fairly,
just like everybody else here.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
People are literally, by the minute, trying to get their
angles in. And when I say people, I mean reporters.
So we're getting.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
more information and more information as it builds.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
I did reach out to Jasmine Kendrick's team for a
statement and I was told that she is not going
to be making any further statements other than what she
had already posted online.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
But if anything changes, they would let me know.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
So if that does change, I'll bring you right back
on here to you guys in the latest his bond
coupled because there were two charges that he was facing
was around $ 6, 000 he was facing a $ 5, 000 bond on
the battery by strangulation charge and a $ 1, 000 bond on
the battery charge and Both of these charges, in the
(10:22):
beginning when this news first broke, it was made very
clear that these charges were related to domestic violence. Now,
I did receive a statement from Rick Ross's attorney, which
I know has probably circulated all over reports this morning because, again,
of how quick everything was moving. And his attorney, William
Roberts II, shout out to our iHeartMedia editorial team. We
(10:45):
kind of tag team on this and on some exclusive
stories sometimes. Shout out to Tony Centeno on our Power1051. com
editorial team who was able to grab this statement for
us from Rick Ross's attorney, Steve Sato. I want to update, actually,
that statement is from Defense Counsel Steve Sato and Bradley
(11:05):
Hornstein on behalf of Rick Ross. So it's two attorneys,
not just one. Williams Roberts II, a.k.a. Rick Ross, professionally
known as Rick Ross, is being wrongfully accused by ex-girlfriend
whose true motivations are unclear. The ex did not even
file a police report until a month after the claimed
incident allegedly took place.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Mr.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges.
He respectfully requests that his friends, fans, and the general
public do not prejudge this situation and allow the judicial
process to run its course. Now, I will say when
the news first broke, and they don't point to Jasmine
at all, I am filling in context clues here, and
If my suspicion is correct and if Jasmine is the
(11:47):
woman who has went and spoke to police where these
charges came from about a week ago when all of
this was released, I reached out to her team and
we didn't talk then because of what I was trying
to do was I was trying to poke around at
some of the Miami police departments to see if there
(12:08):
was any police report whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
And in reaching out to a few of them, I
couldn't find anything. So I kind of just left it alone.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
For me, I mean, I understand on face value when
a woman claims domestic violence and there's bruises and there's photos,
those reports will pick up.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
But I always try to.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Wait until there's a police report filed or something officially
filed because normally there's more context there as well. So
we can kind of, you know, fill in the blanks
of what happened or what are the allegations and then
be able to predict what's going to come from it.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
But I was not able to do that then.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
So this morning when I saw that this was breaking,
I was like, okay, she must have went and filed
a police report on the criminal side of things. Now,
I don't know if there's anything civil that will be
filed because, you know, sometimes you will see that as
well too. But, you know, nothing that I can speak
to from that end as of right now. And again,
she has not come out and responded at all to anything.
(13:05):
rick rawls having to turn himself in nor has he
directly stated her name in a statement it just says
an ex-girlfriend whose whose intent is unclear at the current
time so we'll keep you guys updated we will definitely
keep you guys up to update it we're gonna have
to because this is developing literally as the moments are
moving This has been another episode of The Latest with
