Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hold up. Every day I wake up.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Wake your ass up.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
The Breakfast Club.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
You all finished or you all done?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Morning, everybody.

Speaker 4 (00:09):
It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are
The Breakfast Club. We got a special guest in the building.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Yes, indeed.

Speaker 4 (00:16):
We have Paul Walter Hauser.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Welcome.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Hey.

Speaker 4 (00:19):
How are you feeling?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Spoiled, man.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
God is good. I'm just trying not to F it up. Yeah.
Life is good.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
How do you think you can fuck it up, Paul?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Trying not to F it up. Can we curse? Yes.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Put it in your mouth.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Sash. What is that?

Speaker 4 (00:32):
What is that?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
It's a nicotine pouch.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Oh. It's for sober people who are still addicted to something.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Got you.

Speaker 5 (00:41):
So you have like an oral fixation or you're addicted
to that actual nicotine?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Man, I don't need you telling people I got an
oral fixation.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Damn.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
It's got a connotation, dog.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
I appreciate you not saying that.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
You got to do what you got to do in Hollywood, Paul.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
That was out of pocket. No, this was out of
my pocket. I am five years sober next month.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Congratulations, brother.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Thanks, dude. I was just one of those people who, like,
you give me pizza, I want seven slices. You give
me weed, I want to rip the bong nine times.
You give me alcohol, I want to, you know, go
online shopping while drunk and then.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Forget I bought concert tickets. Dang. I was, you know,
that was me.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
When did you get to the point where you knew
you had to stop?

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
I was at a strip club in the French Quarter
in Nola by myself, and I was just throwing money away,
and I was thinking about suicide. And I was drunk
and high and lonely, and I said, this got too dark.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
But a strip is that bad that you just... Man,
shut the fuck up.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
What the hell is your problem?

Speaker 1 (01:48):
You're like, I didn't know white people had issues.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
You see what I'm saying? The strip was.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Like, what the hell?

Speaker 1 (01:53):
He said he was at the strip club and it
was all bad. It was not fun. It was not like,
make it rain.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah, no, this was like Charlie Brown, the rain cloud falling.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Oh, damn. Yeah, that kind of rain.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
And you did it in... How did you get out
of that place?

Speaker 4 (02:10):
I pivoted.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
I just made some life choices. I stopped watching... I
stopped watching porn and I stopped drinking July of 2021.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
And then, uh, and then.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Like three months later I was in one of these, uh,
you know, meetings or whatever with all the dudes. And
I was like, I've been lying to y'all. I've been
getting high. I'm still high. Like I've been high in
meetings and I cried and broke down and I was like,
I'm going to start my day count over. I'm going
to start over. I'm getting rid of weed. And so
October 26th was my first day clean.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Of all the things.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Congratulations.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
And we all got issues and drama and problems. But
at least I can deal with them without having those
million crutches, which is what it was for me. And
I don't vilify weed or alcohol. I think if you
can handle it, dude, follow your bliss and enjoy Coachella.
But I couldn't do it.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
What clarity has it given you as a man and
as an actor?

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I didn't know how selfish I was until I was sober.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I just, I was.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
It's like one of those things, you know, I'm just
giving an example, but like somebody, somebody who like will
buy somebody a birthday gift and it's a gift they
would buy themselves. It's like you both bought someone a
gift and you are both shining a light on your
own selfishness to not know what that person really wants.
It's like, it's like that kind of a thing. So, yeah, no,

(03:36):
I just, I have more clarity. I'm able to be
a father. I got three kids. And if I was, dude,
I'm telling you, if I was getting high, eating a
bag of Frito-Lay Cheetos or whatever, up till three in
the morning watching stand-up on YouTube, I could not wake
up and be a good father.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
And that was like how I was bangin'..

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I commend you because even being that honest to talk
about it is difficult because a lot of people.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Don't have the honesty to talk about it.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Men got to be more vulnerable. The fruits of the
spirit in the Bible are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
and self-control. And gentleness is something that dudes just are
not on yet.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
We're not even gentle with ourselves the way that we're
supposed to be.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Give yourself grace.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Give yourself grace. We're too hard on ourselves.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Mm-hmm.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
I think so.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Absolutely true.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, I did this talk show. It's called the Boy
Talk Talk Show. We got Blake Griffin, Becky Lynch, Teddy Swims,
Rob Roush, who won Traders. We got all these amazing
guests for the first eight episodes are dropping. But it's
kind of shining a light on toxic masculinity. And one
of the things with toxic masculinity is like dudes not

(04:49):
feeling they– it's like when a dude hugs another dude
and they feel they got to pat their back. Or
say no homo. It's like, dude, y'all need to chill out, bro.
Nobody thinks you're trying to unzip my pants because we
hugged or because you told me your feelings.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Like, calm down.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
And this room is total opposite of that.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Oh, good.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Like, no, y'all always think that y'all is trying to
rear-end each other.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Like, that's just what it is.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
You come up behind him.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
She's trying to say that we're.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Okay being gay.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
And....

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I purposely, I do a thing in every episode where
each male co-host, I always grab their inner thigh when
I agree with them.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Like, yeah, man.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Just to make them feel uncomfortable. Oh, that's a little
too far. Just to make them feel uncomfortable. That's a
little too far. Dude, it's so funny, though. It gets
the best reaction.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
That might be a little too far.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
I don't think, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
That I did. Hey, man. Hey, man.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
You're wrong.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
See, you told him, so this is different. But if
you didn't tell him, you just grabbed his thigh. Oh,
my God.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I wish you would have did it.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
I wish you would have did it. No, I want
to be brought back.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I want to come back. I want you all to
have me again.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Oh, he would love you.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
He would invite you.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
But Chuck Liddell, the UFC fighter, I don't know that
I touched his thigh, but I definitely, I think... I
think at one point we like high five and I
interlink my fingers with him like a marital couple.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
But just making people uncomfortable, that kind of between two
ferns thing with Zach Galifianakis, I love that stuff.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Me too.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I like a good, just put a little good dick joke.
Just place it.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Hysterical.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Just nice in there somewhere in the conversation.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
That's me, man.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I'm the same guy, you know, quoting the book of Ephesians,
but also making 40 dick jokes a day.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
We go far. You know the turnstile when you leave
the glass doors? I'll jump in it behind him and
be the same one going.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Around and around.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
I do that all the time, dude. Yeah, just goofing, man.
I do that all the time. Just goofing, bro. I
love elevators, man. I'm always trying to make people uncomfortable
in an elevator.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
I'll just be like.
How's everybody doing today?

Speaker 1 (06:44):
I'm just doing a wellness check.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Like, I'll make them look up from their phones. I
love stuff like that.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
I know there's a lot of married men who are
completely favorable to their wives, right?

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Like we are.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
They end up flirting with each other. It's just a
primal instinct. They got to flirt with somebody.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
You know, it's just, it's fun.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
It's funny.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
But, but yeah, no, I think, and once again, a
lot of people get really pissed off. They're like, we
talk about toxic masculinity. Men are supposed to, it's like, dude, Femininity, masculinity,
these are good things. I'm putting an adjective on it
because I'm calling out the nature with which it becomes
wayward or perverse. These dudes like Patrick Bet-David who are like,

(07:21):
Money is the greatest thing in the world. Dudes like
Andrew Tate. It's like you're sending messaging out to young
men to tell them that if you're an entrepreneur at
19 and you have a bunch of followers and you're
putting videos out of you at a nightclub, you're cool.
It's like, it's not cool, bro. You might think it's cool,

(07:41):
but that's perception. Reality is you are probably very scared
and you are probably very, what's the word? You're probably
very insecure.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
I agree with you, but you avoided the question.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
Do you think married men who are faithful flirt with
other men just because? Do you flirt with men?

Speaker 3 (08:02):
I flirt with everybody.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
No, no, no.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Maybe not children, but yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Not on that. Not on that.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
I saw you.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
You wore a coordinates to Jeffrey Epstein's old ranch.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Zorro Ranch.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
To the Resident Evil premiere. Why?

Speaker 3 (08:19):
I'm just trying to stir the pot, bro.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
My heroes are people like Kendrick Lamar and Cat Williams.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
I like truth tellers. Okay, okay. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
I'm not saying they're perfect. Cat's on some other shit
sometimes where I'm not sure I fully buy the narrative.
But I still, I like pointing out like, hey, give
this a Google search. Do your own research, as they say.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
I heard a.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Church bought that Zorro Ranch.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Really? Yeah, that's sketchy, bro. Like, uh, Catholic church. Shut up, man.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Don't even have to be Catholic. Let's call it what
it is. Some people are doing some awful things in
the name of Jesus and they're going to get it
the worst when the game.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Is over, bro.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
No, you're right. You're absolutely right.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
They're going to get it the worst.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
We had that conversation the other day because we were
talking about, you know, uh, our guy D1 was up
here and he was saying how, you know, people who, um,
he was talking about rappers and they promote like negative
things in their music. It feels like, You know, those
are the ones that are probably in line for hell first.
But then, you know, Lauren LaRosa was like, well, what
about the pastors who are preaching the word of God
all the time, but they're not living like that.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
What up?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Absolutely. And, you know, God's love and grace is abundant, bro. Like,
you don't have to be perfect, but I think there's
a difference between evil people and sinners. I think we're
all sinners, but I think there's some evil people who
are just strategically hurting people their entire lives.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
I completely agree with that. I never thought about that.
There's a difference between evil and we all sin, right?

Speaker 3 (09:52):
We all. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
But I'm committed to evil. I'm a free man surrounded
by slave masons, bro. I'm okay being way less famous
and way less powerful if I don't got those chains
on me.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Was Mo Man evil or a sinner? No.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
He was evil as shit in those comic books.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Yeah, not in the movie.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
He was not a good dude. Yeah, they made him
kind of a more teddy bear than grizzly bear in
that movie. But that was fun, man. I loved getting
to play in the Marvel world for a little bit.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
And you like wrestling too? You jumped into the wrestling world?

Speaker 2 (10:29):
No, no, real quick.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
Because you said something, right? You said you're happy having
way less money and being way less famous. Paul, you
have an Emmy.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
You have a Golden Globe. Got a hot.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Jesus-loving wife and three dope kids.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
I like the way Paul says it.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
You're doing very, very, very well. Some may say you're
in the Illuminati.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Illuminati. That's a cute word.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Freemasons run the world. That's what's going on. And your
votes don't count, and your opinion is cute. That's why
you got to get down with God, and you got
to have community, and you got to take care of
each other. I agree. Because the world is... one big
puppetry thing, and they're trying to distract you.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
You don't think votes count even after what we've seen
right now?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
I'm still riding for people. I'm still making fun of
Ken Paxton on the Today Show earlier and giving love
to James Tallarico. I'll still vote and ride for people,
but I also think there's a ceiling. It is constructed
so that there are boundaries and a ceiling behind with
how much change can actually be made.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
Yeah, you think everything that's happening right now is by design?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
To some degree, not everything. And, you know, we can
kind of decode or break the matrix a little bit
with how we roll. And we've seen that with, you know, MLK.
We've seen that with Hashtag Me Too. Like, there have
been things where, like, we saw actual change and it
was like, hell yeah. So I don't mean to say

(12:03):
that you are not powerful. You watching... Like, you're more
powerful than you know, but just know the game you're playing.
The game is rigged, but the God is real.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
I was asking, what got you into wrestling? Why did
you jump back into wrestling?

Speaker 1 (12:15):
I love wrestling. I just never fell out of love
with it. I think it's so fun.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
What did your wife say when you said, Dave, I
want to wrestle?

Speaker 3 (12:21):
She's not a fan.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
I'm sure.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Not a fan.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
And I'm limping around. I had an easy match like
four days ago in Charleston, South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Simple, simple match. Oh, for real?

Speaker 2 (12:32):
I was born in Charleston.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
That was nice. I really liked it the short time
I was there, and I had a match against this guy.
He's part of the male cheer squad for the Savannah Bananas.
You all know about that? Speaking of things that would
make some tight dude be like, no homo, Savannah Bananas.
But this guy, Cody Fluffman, had a great five-minute match

(12:55):
with him, and I just, dude, I can barely walk.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
I don't know what happened to my hip.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
I think it's the Gluteus medius, the muscle from the
top of your ass to the side of your thigh.
I can barely walk without taking 1,200 milligrams of Advil. Damn.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Why?

Speaker 2 (13:11):
What did he.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Do to your ass?

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Nothing. Nothing happened, man.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
What's wrong with you, man?

Speaker 1 (13:23):
As Cat Williams said, I got a virgin booty hole.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I'm good. I'm good. Okay, good.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
It is interesting that you're an award-winning actor, like I
just said.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Right?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
You got a whole family. You're doing fine in Hollywood.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Why?

Speaker 2 (13:34):
You don't need independent wrestling money.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
You're really doing this for the sport. Are you that bored?
It's just something that you like to do. Yeah, it's
just about having fun while you're alive on Earth. I
put out a hip-hop EP in 2022. I wrestle. I
write screenplays. I, you know, watch cooking videos on YouTube
and try to make my family dope stuff. Like, I

(13:57):
just love having fun, man. I'm a firm believer in
there are no guilty pleasures. There's only pleasures. Just got
to own it.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
At what point did wrestling stop being a hobby and
it became something you need to prove to yourself you
could actually do?

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Yeah, I got asked. This guy, Sammy Callahan, asked me
to do a fundraiser to raise money for the people
affected by the wildfires in Maui back in 2023. They
had Ronda Rousey, Jon Moxley, Jacob Fatu. They had real
awesome people on that card. And, uh, he said, do
you want to wrestle a.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
10 minute match? And I was like, all right, man. Yeah, sure.
And I did it.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
And the adrenaline spike you get, dude, I mean, some
of y'all were athletes back in the day probably. So
maybe you already know what it feels like, but I
wasn't much of an athlete. So like for me, like
my high is acting and getting that high in the
ring of, um, of proving you can do something, taking
a suplex off the top rope, like.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Did y'all rehearse, though? Did y'all rehearse before y'all went
out there?

Speaker 1 (14:56):
We either rehearse, rehearse, or we verbally rehearse. It depends
on who it is and what you're doing. But I
love it, man. I see guys like Bad Bunny and
Jelly Roll doing matches in WWE, and I'm like, I
can do that.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
I want to do that.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
So is it the adrenaline rush?

Speaker 5 (15:12):
Is that what wrestling gives you, that acting doesn't?

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Adrenaline rush and just instant gratification. I did stand-up comedy
for a number of years. And, uh, there's something great
about getting that immediate response. Same with cooking though, too.
It's like people are eating that thing once it's cooled off.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
Right.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
And, uh, there's something nice to that.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Paul, Paul has a good, they've been hitting me like crazy.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Oh really?

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Oh damn.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
No, I got, I got a couple more minutes. Oh, perfect.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
And you're playing a Mick Foley I saw in a
limited series.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
I'm attached to play Mick Foley in a limited series
about the life of that wrestler and what he went
through between WCW and WWE trying to find his way
and find his voice. And, um, He ended up going
to Japan having these crazy death matches, they're called, with
C4 explosives and barbed wire and stuff. Him and this dude,
Terry Funk, just beat the shit out of each other.

(16:02):
And so we're telling that story, and we're just trying
to assemble the team to pitch it now.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
I was going to say, man, playing that character could
probably take you to a dark place, but I feel
like you've already kind of been there.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
I played a serial killer for an Apple show.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
That was... darkest I want to go.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I'm not talking about you. I'm not talking about the
character you play.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Oh, me? Yeah. No. Straight up.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Yeah. I was in a dark place when I shot that.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah. Yeah. Lately, I've been in a much lighter place.
It's a nice place to be.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
What's one thing that you want to do that you
haven't done? I mean, you did an album.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
You've done movies.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
You've done stand-up.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Only an EP. You've done wrestling.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I got an album coming next year.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
An EP.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
So what's one thing that you want to do that
you haven't got a chance to do as of yet?

Speaker 3 (16:43):
And why?

Speaker 1 (16:45):
I rap under the name Signet Ringer. I have put
out this EP, Murder for Hire. Higher spelled H-I-G-H-E-R. And
I talk about spiritual warfare in that. I'm looking to
put out an album next year under the same name.
I want to direct. I have a script I wrote,
a Christmas movie that I'm hoping to direct in the
next year, year and a half. And just like keep producing.

(17:07):
The more I produce, the more I realize I'm weirdly
a really good producer. I believe that because I both
advocate for my cast and crew and I take care
of people.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
But I also.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
know how to get on the phone and get us
more money, or I know how to take a script
and give it notes and make it better.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
Creatively, though, I think you also probably make a great
producer because your worldview is completely different than a lot
of people.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
How so? You think the being in it but not
of it type of thing?

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Straight up.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
What does your wife understand about you that Hollywood never will?

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Um.
Wow.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
That's a really good question. I wish I had like
an immediate, like good answer for a question that thoughtful. Um,
I think my wife understands what a teddy bear I am. Um,
some people, you know, like, like to dude's point was
a dude Deontay who was on before me.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
He seemed like a cool guy.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
He, uh, you know, if I say something about the
Palestinian conflict or I say something about, like I have
a letterboxd account where I review movies I've seen and
stuff and, And it got way too much attention because
I didn't.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Give five stars out of five stars to some of
my own movies.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
But I'm telling the truth. Y'all can get mad, and
people do. But at the end of the day, I
am a teddy bear, and I'm telling the truth. And
I think my wife knows that. Whereas I think public
perception can get very caught up. Kind of the sin
of not being congruent with someone else's mindset.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Everybody goes crazy.

Speaker 5 (18:43):
I mean, you seem very comfortable being the guy who
stirs shit up. Is that courage, or you just sometimes
enjoy the fight?

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Well, Cat said, too, he's like, I stirred up the
hornet's nest or bee's nest, and then he was like,
I got stung enough times that I backed off. So, like,
I haven't been stung yet, but I'm sure when I do,
maybe I'll get a little quieter. But at the end
of the day, I don't fear men. I don't fear
tech companies. I fear God.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
That's right. And so.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
I don't want to be a whistleblower because whistleblowers get killed,
but I want to be a truth teller and love people.
And I got God, so I don't need to worry
about somebody taking me out or trying to take me
off a platform.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
I got God, dude. I'm good, man.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Did you always feel like that or when you were
dealing with sobriety, you started seeing that more?

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Nah, more of that. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
Put you in a different light.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
Because before that, it was.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Like, oh, I got to talk to Brad Pitt at
the BAFTA tea party.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
It's like, dude.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
What you learn is like the people that ride with you,
ride with you, you have your crew and everything else
is just.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Noise basically.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
But you know we chase and and we you know
real currency is a chosen pace when you choose when
you choose how.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
You are going to walk and live.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
And you believe God's got you, you don't have to
run after stuff. All the good stuff in my life,
from my wife to some of my really cool roles
I've gotten to do, it all fell into the lap.
They give actors too much credit, man. We are just
recipients of grace and gifts a lot of times where
I'll just wake up on a Monday and my business
manager's like, you got to make some money. And then

(20:29):
a week later on a Tuesday, I got an offer
in my email from somebody I respect.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
And it's like, oh, that's amazing. Sick.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
This is my last question.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
What's something about Hollywood you understand now that would have
disappointed you when you were trying to get in?

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Something I understand now about Hollywood that would have disappointed
me when I got into it would be it's never enough.
You can win the Emmy, you still want the Oscar.
You can make a million dollars, you still want three million.
All that stuff, that never goes away. But at the
end of the day, I'm starting to make peace with
the idea that, like, it's okay that.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
I'm not Michael B. Jordan.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
It's okay that I'm not Austin Butler. I may never
be the dude, you know, on the post or whatever.
But that's not my calling. My calling is to love people,
to take care of my family, and to entertain you
and try to treat you well. So at the end
of the day, that has to take precedence.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Which I'm trying to get there. Mm-hmm. I love that.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
It's crazy because you seem, you're so successful.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Thanks, man.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeah, I also just want to, I just want to
do a good job. I want to be the guy, like,
there's certain actors and actresses, like, I'm trying to think
of names, like Peter Sarsgaard, who's in New Yorker, I think.
He's not the most famous dude in the world. He's
not making the most money, but he's always good. Every
time you see him, it's like, thank God this dude
showed up. And I just want to be that guy

(21:55):
at the end of the day. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
Paul, we appreciate you for joining us this morning.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
So sad that you got to leave so early. You
got to come back if you're in town.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
This is a treat, man. I've been watching y'all for
a long time, and being sharing space with you is
not lost on me. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
No, thank you. Thank you.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Appreciate y'all.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Congratulations on all your success. It's Paul Walter Hauser. It's
The Breakfast Club. Good morning.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Where's the breakfast? Hold up. Every day I wake up.
Wake your ass up. The Breakfast Club.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Y'all finished or y'all done?
