something coming out of that jay Z weekend. And I

didn't even do all three days. I don't know why.

I felt like I just did a whole bit with
jay Z, like.

I'd have been locked down out in the yard for
hours and hours and hours. Maybe because the last day
I was there I was in heels for that was
like what, like, okay, if I got there at eight,
left around three all those hours, Lord have mercy.

Why did I wear heels?

I wore heels because the first night I told you
guys on the last episode of the Latest. If you
guys didn't take a listen when we broke down, you
know all of the doors stopping and the door shutting
down and people bum rushing the doors.

I was outside as that was happening.

That literally started to happen as I arrived, so I
got to kind of see everything take place in real time.
But the reason why I was in here was because Friday,
when we went to go see jay Z, it was
so smooth.

I hopped right out the car.

We went to the entrance, the line was barely long,
and even the line that was long, it was moving.

Security had a handle. It was easy.

Once we got to the suite, we sat right down
like I was cool, and I wore flat Sat Day
because I anticipated something else. So I think once in
my mind once it was cool that day, and honestly,
I didn't love my outfit on Friday for jay Z's concert.
I loved the outfit, but I felt like wearing flats
with it just didn't do it for me because I'm
such a heells girl. So I was like, I don't

want to be like that this time around. I want
to love my outfit. When you love your outfit by
the way you look, you feel good about, you know,
all the things that you're doing, and y'all know how
that goes, especially the ladies listening. So I thought it
was gonna be way more smooth. And then we got
there and I saw all the people. The first thing though,
that struck me as like odd, even though they had
Ben's in all weekend, like get there early, the doors
open at like five or six. I saw Yankee Stadium

post it, and I'm like, I didn't see this post before,
But I think it's because not even think I know,
it's because the attendance was rising as the weekend went along,
Like there were more people that were coming. Because even
though the tickets sold out in minutes for jay Z
and New York, a lot of that sounding people bought
tickets to resale, so people were still able to buy tickets.
And then I remember Rock Nation or Live Nation added

like four to five thousand more seats on Friday or
Saturday afternoon, I know, I think it was Friday. They
added more seats, so people were paying to just be
there even if you couldn't see, you know, from a
certain way or certain dame or whatever the case may be.
So way more people there, so I just didn't expect
it to be as insane as it was. But uh,

did my body justice to actually go to sleep yesterday
and do it? Okay, rest is the key because I
and I think when I hear people say, oh, you
need to rest, I'm like, okay, as you get older,
those are things that you prioritize. When I say, I
feel the complete difference in my body from yesterday to today.
Even my thinking, my think, through my attitude, everything is

different from the day before this episode to right now.
So I in real time, this is probably the first
time where I ever realized how much different I feel
with rest. And I think because normally I don't prioritize
taking the time to get the rest the way that
I should. I do it in like different spurts, so
I might take a little nap, or my schedule a weekend.

It's is still this time. I was like, no, we.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Shutting everything off in bead Bite latest nine o'clock, and
that was still late compared to how I feeling yesterday.
And I feel the difference. So I'm here, I'm rested,
and I'm ready to go. So let's get on into it.
Let's get into the latest, so the Daytime Emmy nominations
have released. This is really exciting every year when this
is released because you get to see the shows in

the daytime space. We talk shows, game shows, morning news,
soap operas, anybody that is occupying storytelling in the daytime space.
You get to see, you know, just what shows are
leading that conversation for me as a person that is
in the space and as a person that wants to
win an Emmy. Like when I used to work at TMZ,

a lot of the staff that have been there prior
to me getting there, because most of the people you
know on that staff, you get there and you say there.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
For years and years and years.

A lot of my other like producers that I worked with,
so like the other senior news producers on the news
desk and just different people editors, they were all Emmy
nominated or Emmy winning because TMZ had won an Emmy
while they were there, because TMZ has TMZ Live, which
is daytime and I just thought that that was so fire, Like,
I thought that it was so fire that all of

the work that you do, like you can add that
title to it. So I love to watch who's nominated
and for what to you know, just just soaking up
the game because I want to win a Daytime Ammy Emmy.
I always tell people I want to be an e
GOT winner, And when I say that, people think I'm
crazy because I'm not a rapper or a singer.

But I want to do some things in music. I'll
figure out what and how.

But I want to do that even if it's just sinking,
like even if I am just the person that is
creating soundtracks to stories that are being.

So Daytime Emmys were announced in the Standouts The View Now.
The View was nominated in the space of Outstanding Daytime
Talk Series. Now along with this, in this category you
have the third hour of The Today's Show, The Drew
Barrymore Show, which we know people love The Drew Barrymore Show,

like I think it's just Drew Barrymore in general. She's
had her moments where people don't always love her, but
people love that. People loved that show. The Kelly Clarkson Show,
which we know is she went through a lot of
the same cancelation conversations around the same time as Sherry
Shepherd did. This was also following, you know, her husband

going through and not winning a very you know, tough
battle health battle with cancer, Live with Kelly and Mark,
The Today's Show with Jenna and Friends. And what I
like about the Today Show is Chanelle Jones is on
there and we talk a lot about her as a
black woman in the media space. But shout out to

the girls in the View on the View because they
are in that category. Well, shout out to everybody though,
because these are all shows that I don't think I
sit and watch cable the definitely not the way I
used to, but the amounts of time that I think
it would be it would take to be able to
sit and rank these shows of like which one I think,
you know should take?

Like the way that I consume daytime television now is
through the Internet and through clips. Yeah, And to be
honest with y'all when I'm talking clips just for me
and what I do and like the shows that like

repurpose on the Breakfast Club or on the Latest with
Long Leave Roads of the podcast, A lot of it
is Today with Jenna and Friends.

A lot of it is the view.

Yeah, those are the ones that I'm I'm leaning on
most of the time unless they have like some outrageous
breaking news or exclusive news or a guest, So maybe
it'll be one of those two. Now when you go
to the outstanding daytime talk series hosts, so the women
who are hosting these shows, tamer Hall was nominated. You
guys know, we did tamarn Hall, So congratulations to her.

And one thing I've been noticing with Tamar and she's
gotten a lot more consistent on social media. She does
these like sit down videos where she's talking you through
what she's thinking through and a lot of people when
she started to do this, and I think when people
started to realize because she's always been active on social
but it's a lot more consistent with these sit down,

straight to camera, straight to the people, don't wait to
be on my show to say it type of videos.
I saw someone post on X shit would be worried
about tamer Hall show because why is she doing so
much on social media. I just think it's the telling
of the times. Like in the last category that are
talked about. I told you guys, that a lot of
these shows that are mentioned I don't consume in full

on cable if at all.

I think that it's very smart because that's where a

also in this Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host category with
Jennifer Hudson being nominated. Sharry Shepherd also in this category,
and we know with Sherry Shepherd, for me, this is

like right on time for her because I mean, she's
a former Emmy winner.

She won an Emmy when she was with The View.

She's been nominated, Like you know, she's been down this
walk in this road before. But I think it's different
when you're sitting on a show and holding steak and
holding eratime of your own to be in this conversation
and not even just to be in this conversation because
of that, but to be in this conversation after your
show was canceled in front of the world, right and

we were trying to figure out why ratings was not
a conversation because we know and I know because I
did a story sometime before that when i'd heard inklings
about Tamer and Shapry Shepherd's shows and where they were
like battling with ratings, that the both of those shows
and Jenniferson shows were doing very very well. However, what

I was told when I did a lot of research
and outreach around Shery Shepherds show being canceled was that
it was a money thing, and that because these shows,
now do you know, they take these big budgets, because
they have these big teams. It's not necessary that you
have all of that because you got podcasters, you got
people doing it for way less and still achieving the

same things. And hey, the name of the game is
cut your expenses to build your profit, and they're doing
that across the board in every industry. So I just
think after everything that we watched Sherry go through us
not learning about her cancelation on her own show, which
I still don't think was very fair to her.

I think it just it puts a good cap.

On that time period of her life to say, I'm
walking away from my show, I'm moving on to other things.
But don't forget we walked away with an Emmy nomination
as well. We did the damn thing. I think that

Z was going to be fined for going over time
or not for the Yankee Stadium show.

Now I have not been able to confirm anything. I
have seen some small reporting that that will not happen.

I'm still working out, still reaching out to figure out
if not why, because typically what happens is once you
hit a certain time period, you are fined or charged
for going over certain things. But their insurances and stuff
like that in place, and most artists, like a Justin
bieberat Coachella. If you guys saw any of that reporting

this past Coachella when Justin Bieber performed, he went over
on his time and what Coachella said for a lot
of the artists, you know, it makes more since this
happens with Roland Loud too, and a lot of times
the festival goers or even the talent, they'll say, well,
let me take the fine. I'll pay you the fine.
It makes more sense, and it's a better investment, a

better look for me to do that than to short
change my fans and all these people who paid and
flew in and did all the things. And I think
you know, and I think I know in jay Z situation,
it was about keeping people safe. Now, TMZ did a
report this morning that talked about Justin and Justin Bieber,
that talked about jay Z and the fact that, honestly,

in the eighth hour, the third show at Yankee Stadium
almost did not happen.

mean she's given people their marching orders on what to do.

NYPD brass out there who was like Yankee Stadium top
level security. You have people's private security because now you
have a bunch of celebrities that are also stuck outside
that are trying to get in. Some of the are
performers that are going on stage with jay Z, and
then you have all of these tons of people from
the community and just his fans that are there trying
to figure this out, and she's out there just trying

to make it make sense. She's being very honest with
us when she's out there. She's literally saying, I'm trying
not to have to cancel this show. They want to
cancel this show right now. We are trying to do
everything in our power to not cancel it. We need
you guys to cooperate with us. We will open one
door and then we will open all of the doors.

But we need to know that we have things under control.
I'm gonna be honest with y'all. In the midst of
all that madness and chaos, that right there, that one
little piece of honesty right there change the game because
people didn't realize, all right, whether or not this happens
is on us. Whether or not we get in there
is on us. We just got to follow instructions. They
then were able to start bringing talent cars. And don't

get me wrong, it wasn't all you know what I mean,
Peaches and cream. You had talent stuck outside for a while,
you had that cars stuck outside for a while, you
had fans stuck outside still for a while. But things
started to actually happen, even if slow. So the idea
of the show almost being canceled to me. I'm like,
when I saw that was a story, I was like, well, duh.

And then I'm like, oh, because you know, most people
right now are complaining about the fact that the show
was even late, and the things that happened. Now, I
don't necessarily fully know who's fault it was that these
things happened. From what I saw, I'm putting it on
Yankee Stadium, in their team and the staff that would
have been allotted to Rock Nation to be able to

cover the amount of people and letting them in. Right,
if you say you have a stadium that can fill
forty to fifty thousand people, and in this stadium has
been there forever, your operations should be sharp to the
point where that is what you can do. Granted, Rock
Nation comes in with their own sharpness and they facilitate
what they need, what they want. But I don't think

that there was anything. I was literally standing in the
midst of that crowd of people. Number One'm praying and
nothing kicked off because I'm like, we all out here
and this could be really, really bad.

But also I was sitting there.

Thinking like in this moment, what are they thinking? Like
if I'm jay Z talking to my team right now,
what is my work around? Because there's nothing I can
do but utilize everything I already have been doing. But

But to hear that there were like thousands of people

ten thousand people that were outside, but tons of people

So Daytime Emmys were announced in the Standouts The View Now.
The View was nominated in the space of Outstanding Daytime
Talk Series. Now along with this, in this category you
have the third hour of The Today's Show, The Drew
Barrymore Show, which we know people love The Drew Barrymore Show,

like I think it's just Drew Barrymore in general. She's
had her moments where people don't always love her, but
people love that. People loved that show. The Kelly Clarkson Show,
which we know is she went through a lot of
the same cancelation conversations around the same time as Sherry
Shepherd did. This was also following, you know, her husband

going through and not winning a very you know, tough
battle health battle with cancer, Live with Kelly and Mark,
The Today's Show with Jenna and Friends. And what I
like about the Today Show is Chanelle Jones is on
there and we talk a lot about her as a
black woman in the media space. But shout out to

the girls in the View on the View because they
are in that category. Well, shout out to everybody though,
because these are all shows that I don't think I
sit and watch cable the definitely not the way I
used to, but the amounts of time that I think
it would be it would take to be able to
sit and rank these shows of like which one I think,
you know should take?

Like the way that I consume daytime television now is
through the Internet and through clips. Yeah, And to be
honest with y'all when I'm talking clips just for me
and what I do and like the shows that like
I tune into just to see like what they have happening?
Are there a guests there that we can you know,

repurpose on the Breakfast Club or on the Latest with
Long Leave Roads of the podcast, A lot of it
is Today with Jenna and Friends.

A lot of it is the view.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yeah, those are the ones that I'm I'm leaning on
most of the time unless they have like some outrageous
breaking news or exclusive news or a guest, So maybe
it'll be one of those two. Now when you go
to the outstanding daytime talk series hosts, so the women
who are hosting these shows, tamer Hall was nominated. You
guys know, we did tamarn Hall, So congratulations to her.

And one thing I've been noticing with Tamar and she's
gotten a lot more consistent on social media. She does
these like sit down videos where she's talking you through
what she's thinking through and a lot of people when
she started to do this, and I think when people
started to realize because she's always been active on social
but it's a lot more consistent with these sit down,

straight to camera, straight to the people, don't wait to
be on my show to say it type of videos.
I saw someone post on X shit would be worried
about tamer Hall show because why is she doing so
much on social media. I just think it's the telling
of the times. Like in the last category that are
talked about. I told you guys, that a lot of
these shows that are mentioned I don't consume in full

on cable if at all.

I'm watching via YouTube.

I'm watching via clips, and I know a lot of
these shows uploading full on YouTube.

I know the View does that.

I think that it's very smart because that's where a
lot of people are today. The Jennifer Hutchons Show is
also in this Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host category with
Jennifer Hudson being nominated. Sharry Shepherd also in this category,
and we know with Sherry Shepherd, for me, this is

like right on time for her because I mean, she's
a former Emmy winner.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
She won an Emmy when she was with The View.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
She's been nominated, Like you know, she's been down this
walk in this road before. But I think it's different
when you're sitting on a show and holding steak and
holding eratime of your own to be in this conversation
and not even just to be in this conversation because
of that, but to be in this conversation after your
show was canceled in front of the world, right and
(09:48):
we were trying to figure out why ratings was not
a conversation because we know and I know because I
did a story sometime before that when i'd heard inklings
about Tamer and Shapry Shepherd's shows and where they were
like battling with ratings, that the both of those shows
and Jenniferson shows were doing very very well. However, what

I was told when I did a lot of research
and outreach around Shery Shepherds show being canceled was that
it was a money thing, and that because these shows,
now do you know, they take these big budgets, because
they have these big teams. It's not necessary that you
have all of that because you got podcasters, you got
people doing it for way less and still achieving the
(10:29):
same things. And hey, the name of the game is
cut your expenses to build your profit, and they're doing
that across the board in every industry. So I just
think after everything that we watched Sherry go through us
not learning about her cancelation on her own show, which
I still don't think was very fair to her.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I think it just it puts a good cap.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
On that time period of her life to say, I'm
walking away from my show, I'm moving on to other things.
But don't forget we walked away with an Emmy nomination
as well. We did the damn thing. I think that
that means a lot, and I know that that means
a lot to her. So congratulations on the nomination, Sherry
Gral The hosts of the view We're also nominated as
well too in this category, and Kelly Clarkson as well

out where her next move is with her show, which
she was very vocal about the fact that she does
plan to do, this will not be the last we
see her in this space, whether that will be a
podcast deal, a podcast video, podcast still, or whatever the
case may be. She now can go in and say

whenever the question of her show being canceled is brought up,
she can go in and say we also were Amy nominated.
Though let's not forget that. I think it helps her.
I mean she has the leverage. Sherry Shepard is not
new to the game. People know who she is. She
has been successful for some years. But it adds to
the pot, and I'm happy that she has that to

add into the pop. I'm gonna say to lean on,
but she has her talent and God and so much
other stuff to lean on. But she has that to
add to the pot, and I'm happy for so congratulations grow.

I talked about jay Z a bit when I opened
up with Behind the Scenes of the Grind, and I
know yesterday we've been talking a bit about whether jay
Z was going to be fined for going over time
or not for the Yankee Stadium show.

Now I have not been able to confirm anything. I
have seen some small reporting that that will not happen.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I'm still working out, still reaching out to figure out
if not why, because typically what happens is once you
hit a certain time period, you are fined or charged
for going over certain things. But their insurances and stuff
like that in place, and most artists, like a Justin
bieberat Coachella. If you guys saw any of that reporting

this past Coachella when Justin Bieber performed, he went over
on his time and what Coachella said for a lot
of the artists, you know, it makes more since this
happens with Roland Loud too, and a lot of times
the festival goers or even the talent, they'll say, well,
let me take the fine. I'll pay you the fine.
It makes more sense, and it's a better investment, a

better look for me to do that than to short
change my fans and all these people who paid and
flew in and did all the things. And I think
you know, and I think I know in jay Z situation,
it was about keeping people safe. Now, TMZ did a
report this morning that talked about Justin and Justin Bieber,
that talked about jay Z and the fact that, honestly,

in the eighth hour, the third show at Yankee Stadium
almost did not happen.

Now, let me break down to you guys.

I mean, because you have to think, like duh, right,
if there's a security breach and all these things are
happening and they're having a pause to show for hours,
that is on the table let me break down for
you guys what was happening from the inside, like for
us that were there on the ground. So go back

The Latest with Lauren La Rosa on the podcast and
Beatot Miller, who formerly a part of rat Radar podcast
super Well plugged very in the no Hip Hop Journalist.
On the episode, we talked about the fact that jay
Z made a decision whether or not to put people
in danger by starting the show on time and you know,
(14:47):
upset fans who felt like they were missing the show,
and he made the decision not to do it and
hold the show for some hours and performed to about
a little bit over two thirty in the morning. Now
when I was standing outside of these gates, I talk
about this to bid on the last episode.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
So Desireh Perez, who is you know, one.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Of the big Like what is her exact title?
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Is she a president at rock.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Nation or she is she is the CEO and co
founder of rock Nation. She comes out and people don't know,
Like if you just walk past her, you might not
know who she is.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
You have to kind of know rock Nation.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Jay Z to people around him to know who she is,
or just no business and want to celebrate women in
business because she's a big I was gonna say big,
and y'all, I barely I don't be trying to cuss
on the podcast, but she's a big fucking deal. Okay,
So Daz comes out and Daz is she's been essentially
directing traffic. And I don't mean literally directing traffic. I
mean she's given people their marching orders on what to do.

And now when I say people, I mean you had
NYPD brass out there who was like Yankee Stadium top
level security. You have people's private security because now you
have a bunch of celebrities that are also stuck outside
that are trying to get in. Some of the are
performers that are going on stage with jay Z, and
then you have all of these tons of people from
the community and just his fans that are there trying
to figure this out, and she's out there just trying
(16:13):
to make it make sense. She's being very honest with
us when she's out there. She's literally saying, I'm trying
not to have to cancel this show. They want to
cancel this show right now. We are trying to do
everything in our power to not cancel it. We need
you guys to cooperate with us. We will open one
door and then we will open all of the doors.
(16:33):
But we need to know that we have things under control.
I'm gonna be honest with y'all. In the midst of
all that madness and chaos, that right there, that one
little piece of honesty right there change the game because
people didn't realize, all right, whether or not this happens
is on us. Whether or not we get in there
is on us. We just got to follow instructions. They
then were able to start bringing talent cars. And don't
(16:54):
get me wrong, it wasn't all you know what I mean,
Peaches and cream. You had talent stuck outside for a while,
you had that cars stuck outside for a while, you
had fans stuck outside still for a while. But things
started to actually happen, even if slow. So the idea
of the show almost being canceled to me. I'm like,
when I saw that was a story, I was like, well, duh.
(17:16):
And then I'm like, oh, because you know, most people
right now are complaining about the fact that the show
was even late, and the things that happened. Now, I
don't necessarily fully know who's fault it was that these
things happened. From what I saw, I'm putting it on
Yankee Stadium, in their team and the staff that would
have been allotted to Rock Nation to be able to
(17:39):
cover the amount of people and letting them in. Right,
if you say you have a stadium that can fill
forty to fifty thousand people, and in this stadium has
been there forever, your operations should be sharp to the
point where that is what you can do. Granted, Rock
Nation comes in with their own sharpness and they facilitate
what they need, what they want. But I don't think
(18:00):
that there was anything. I was literally standing in the
midst of that crowd of people. Number One'm praying and
nothing kicked off because I'm like, we all out here
and this could be really, really bad.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
But also I was sitting there.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Thinking like in this moment, what are they thinking? Like
if I'm jay Z talking to my team right now,
what is my work around? Because there's nothing I can
do but utilize everything I already have been doing. But
you got to get people to work with you, because
now it's way more people and that's exactly what they did.
We got in, we're able to get into the show.
But to hear that there were like thousands of people
(18:31):
that got in or tons of people because it was
ten thousand people that were outside, but tons of people
that got in, Like you're right.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Now, there's videos going viral of people.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Who like enjoyed their concert time without even having a
ticket because they got in when the doors were bum.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Rushed, And I'm like, well, what was these people doing?
The line anyway?
Speaker 1 (18:50):
And mind you, the people outside wasn't even like the
people were upset and they wanted to get in, but
they wasn't getting too crazy. People really wanted to see
jay Z. People just like yo, just let us know
what's up, and that's what they did.
