know the meaning of it? And she was like, no,
it's a great song. And then I explained the real
meaning of it, which is it's about AIDS the TLC song.

then I started thinking, what are some other songs that

loved it. And one of the stars of the show,
Jonathan Tucker, longtime friend of the show, grew up right

little rough, you know, being here with the championship basketball team.

fact that you shot to number one on Netflix.

Well, you know, it's you make these things, you do
these things, and then you release that you know, you
have to like let them go and they go through
a whole post production process, and we shot this a
year ago, and when it all comes together and you
get a kind of distribution platform like Netflix, this cast

is awesome. It's Harlan Covid is just seemingly cannot produce
something that doesn't work. It's just awesome. Like it's just
it's so gratifying to have people respond to it and
and to see to see how well it does, not
just in the States, but I think it's like number
one in seventy eight countries around the world.

There are a lot of Boston connections, Boston scenes.

Did you guys film some of it here?

I wish we need to really change our tax system
in both the United States and particularly in Massachusetts for
tax credits for filming. Almost all of it was shot
in Toronto, and I think we had a few days.

Wow. You never know, but watching it now.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
My decision, Lisa, I know, but it would have been.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
There are so many references though, to like Revere. It's
so great. I love it.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
I know, I know, I know, I mean, I shot
We've got the pilot of City on a Hill, a
Showtime show with Kevin Bacon in Boston, and I was
like so excited. I mean I was looking at like
real estate in Boston when they picked up the show,
because I was like, well, we'll shoot this for a
few years in the Commonwealth, and then you know, they
(10:21):
moved the show to New York. So it's uh, I
really wish they shot more in Massachusetts. And it really
is like the political you know, the political will of
of you know, the Commonwealth to make sure that they
have the credits to be able to do it. But
at least like we're showing the world what Boston is
and and we're definitely showing it with this, because you
(10:44):
don't even look at the box office like Billy, you
think about like I think they said it was twenty
four million views, which is actually like more like sixty
million people that watched it. And if you convert that
to a box office like at ten bucks at ticket
pretty pretty pretty wild, like pretty wild numbers and shows
you some of the streaming services.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
But since you are the cast member from Boston and
the show is based in Boston, do they go to
you seeking certain information on the city that only you
would know?
Speaker 10 (11:15):
I mean a little bit, but I don't want to
take any credit because everybody, you know, I'm not I'm not.
I can't be the protector of our fine city and
for for everybody who's contributing to these things. But yeah,
you know, I try to do my best, and everyone's
got their own creative lane, and I don't want to
get too far into it.

The show is it's just unexpectedly riveting. It's, like I said,
I'm several episodes in at least a binge watch last night,
five or six episodes. Justin is also watching the show,
and all three of us are constantly saying.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Can you believe how good this show?
Speaker 5 (11:51):
We have talkbackers calling into the show this morning saying,
oh my god, you're so right.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
I love that. Did you see it coming?
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Well? Well, I look, you know this, this writer, Harlan
Coben is just known for these sort of episodic cliffhangers,
all these red herrings and you know, things that throw
you off, so you know, you know that you're getting
into something really exciting. But he also he also kind
of hits you with these very visceral sort of themes
(12:23):
that are hard to that they just resonate. I mean,
the idea that you could end up in jail for
killing your son, and you know that you didn't do it,
and then you you know you didn't do it, you
resign yourself to that fact that you're going to be
in jail for a crime you didn't commit, and then
all of a sudden, you see a photo of your

son who's still alive. I mean, it's just like such
a fantastic, you know, opening episode idea. And that's the
only script that I that I got when I went
to meet with everybody. You know, I had no idea
where the story was going to be going other than
because I hadn't read the book, and the book is
expanded in this series, so you know, it's it's true
to the book, but they built out a number of
(13:06):
things from the book for for a for shot. So
it was as exciting kind of for a number of
us on the crew and cast to be able to
read the scripts as it is for you guys to
watch it on the air, and they just so you know,
it such a great job of building out these sort
of productions. So what you read on the page really
(13:27):
is like just a small swipe of what ends up
being being seen.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
And it's such an amazing cast. I mean, you're working
alongside Avatar.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Yeah, it's just great. I mean, he is you know,
he's been through it for a long time. He's been
working for for probably as long as I have, and
and he's been on such extraordinarily big productions. I had
so many kind of like you know, career accomplishments. And
(13:59):
you know, he's as a where as any experienced actor is,
which is like you know, you said, you go out there,
you do your very best, you hope for the best,
and you never know where these things are going to land.
He's had quite a few big, big pops. But I think,
I know as he's impressed with how this is doing.

And britt Lauer, if you shot it a year ago,
she was just coming off of Severance, was one of
the biggest shows in the past several years.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Yeah, she's an outstanding actress.

Wow, what a great show. If you just tuned in,

from OSUS. You know what Monument Square. So I get

that and that that makes me feel good to be
able to have created some jobs in my hometown and

to be kind of in in the community with a
brick and mortar store. And you know, I'm thrilled that
the new uh there are the head of the International
Brotherhood of Teamsters, Sean O'Brien, who's a local guy from
Medford who ran the Teamsters out of Charlestown Local twenty five,
is now re elected for another five years. A buddy,
he's a buddy. So I get to come back and

kind of cheer cheer on, share him on from Boston,
and it's a really important place for me. I got
two kids. I'm bringing them back this summer. There you go. Oh,

got to be up there. That's definitely top three. I mean,

my lifetime. Obvious, Scotland in a World Cup, but not
in person, not an American, no sure anyway, So that
was definitely up there. I'd say seeing Jack to be honest,
because he told me for the past couple of days
he wasn't gonna come up and see his because he

But so one of your highlights, you traveled across the world,
and one of your highlights is just to see your
little friend Jacket.
Speaker 4 (22:08):

Is it like a summer camp friend?

Yeah, So we went to Camp Madis. Defending from Camp
Madis is less than say send New Hampshire. It's a
great camp founded by the Maddis brothers who also founded
my football team, the guys got football Belly.

was going to say, you're going to the soccer match
like a soccer camp.

year ago, and when it all comes together and you

is awesome. It's Harlan Covid is just seemingly cannot produce
something that doesn't work. It's just awesome. Like it's just
it's so gratifying to have people respond to it and
and to see to see how well it does, not
just in the States, but I think it's like number
one in seventy eight countries around the world.

I wish we need to really change our tax system

tax credits for filming. Almost all of it was shot
in Toronto, and I think we had a few days.

Wow. You never know, but watching it now.

My decision, Lisa, I know, but it would have been.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
There are so many references though, to like Revere. It's
so great. I love it.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
I know, I know, I know, I mean, I shot
We've got the pilot of City on a Hill, a
Showtime show with Kevin Bacon in Boston, and I was
like so excited. I mean I was looking at like
real estate in Boston when they picked up the show,
because I was like, well, we'll shoot this for a
few years in the Commonwealth, and then you know, they
(10:21):
moved the show to New York. So it's uh, I
really wish they shot more in Massachusetts. And it really
is like the political you know, the political will of
of you know, the Commonwealth to make sure that they
have the credits to be able to do it. But
at least like we're showing the world what Boston is
and and we're definitely showing it with this, because you
(10:44):
don't even look at the box office like Billy, you
think about like I think they said it was twenty
four million views, which is actually like more like sixty
million people that watched it. And if you convert that
to a box office like at ten bucks at ticket
pretty pretty pretty wild, like pretty wild numbers and shows
you some of the streaming services.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
But since you are the cast member from Boston and
the show is based in Boston, do they go to
you seeking certain information on the city that only you
would know?
Speaker 10 (11:15):
I mean a little bit, but I don't want to
take any credit because everybody, you know, I'm not I'm not.
I can't be the protector of our fine city and
for for everybody who's contributing to these things. But yeah,
you know, I try to do my best, and everyone's
got their own creative lane, and I don't want to
get too far into it.

The show is it's just unexpectedly riveting. It's, like I said,
I'm several episodes in at least a binge watch last night,
five or six episodes. Justin is also watching the show,
and all three of us are constantly saying.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Can you believe how good this show?
Speaker 5 (11:51):
We have talkbackers calling into the show this morning saying,
oh my god, you're so right.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
I love that. Did you see it coming?
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Well? Well, I look, you know this, this writer, Harlan
Coben is just known for these sort of episodic cliffhangers,
all these red herrings and you know, things that throw
you off, so you know, you know that you're getting
into something really exciting. But he also he also kind
of hits you with these very visceral sort of themes
(12:23):
that are hard to that they just resonate. I mean,
the idea that you could end up in jail for
killing your son, and you know that you didn't do it,
and then you you know you didn't do it, you
resign yourself to that fact that you're going to be
in jail for a crime you didn't commit, and then
all of a sudden, you see a photo of your
(12:45):
son who's still alive. I mean, it's just like such
a fantastic, you know, opening episode idea. And that's the
only script that I that I got when I went
to meet with everybody. You know, I had no idea
where the story was going to be going other than
because I hadn't read the book, and the book is
expanded in this series, so you know, it's it's true
to the book, but they built out a number of
(13:06):
things from the book for for a for shot. So
it was as exciting kind of for a number of
us on the crew and cast to be able to
read the scripts as it is for you guys to
watch it on the air, and they just so you know,
it such a great job of building out these sort
of productions. So what you read on the page really
(13:27):
is like just a small swipe of what ends up
being being seen.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
And it's such an amazing cast. I mean, you're working
alongside Avatar.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Yeah, it's just great. I mean, he is you know,
he's been through it for a long time. He's been
working for for probably as long as I have, and
and he's been on such extraordinarily big productions. I had
so many kind of like you know, career accomplishments. And
(13:59):
you know, he's as a where as any experienced actor is,
which is like you know, you said, you go out there,
you do your very best, you hope for the best,
and you never know where these things are going to land.
He's had quite a few big, big pops. But I think,
I know as he's impressed with how this is doing.

And britt Lauer, if you shot it a year ago,
she was just coming off of Severance, was one of
the biggest shows in the past several years.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Yeah, she's an outstanding actress.

Brotherhood of Teamsters, Sean O'Brien, who's a local guy from

is now re elected for another five years. A buddy,
he's a buddy. So I get to come back and

and it's a really important place for me. I got

But so one of your highlights, you traveled across the world,
and one of your highlights is just to see your
little friend Jacket.
