Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kiss.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Hey, guys, you're welcome back and happy Thursday to you.
What's the weather going to be like today, Lise?
Speaker 3 (00:05):
You know what, it's actually looking not that bad right now,
but the rain's going to come in late tonight and
then tomorrow we'll have a lot of rain.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
And for the record, today yesterday was the twenty ninth
day without rain, so we're now the fourth longest stretch
of weather with no rain. We've got the Sabrina Secret Sound.
We did not have a winner at seven to ten
this morning. We're going to do it again, Lisa, Get
them ready, what do they need to know?
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Okay, so you're going to find clues in the Sabrina
Carpenter lyrics. So it's one of the hits we play
on Kiss. So look at the lyrics. It'll tell you
what the sound is. Guess the sound and tell us
the song it came from.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Okay, and we're going to play it twice right now
here it comes the Sabrina Secret Sound. Here it is.
This one really deserves a second listen.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Yeah, So I'm being told at the post Malone show
last night, you know, Kiss was down there. A lot
of people were running up and saying that they knew
what the secret sound was and some had it right.
Oh no, people do know. You just have to get through.
I know the song as well as the sound.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
We need caller twenty five right now six one seven
nine three one one one oh aiden. While we wait
for Caller twenty five, our old pal our in house,
a legal expert, Catherine Loftus is on the phone. She
would join us every morning after Karen Reid hearing, and
there was a ruling yesterday counselor a special prosecutor was named.
(01:30):
What do you think this means for Karen Reid?
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Well, good morning everybody. First of all, thanks for having
me back on. You know, I think it's an interesting
development for Karen Reid and her defense team. You know,
they know what Adam Lalley and what Laura McLoughlin presented
the first time around, and if they were going to
be the only prosecutors the second time around, it's a
little bit easier to prepare that way bringing in an
(01:55):
outside attorney. I always thought it might be a a
homicide prosecutor from another county. Instead they went to the
criminal defense side, which is an interesting pick. Hank Brennan
is a very well respected well liked criminal defense attorney
obviously as the notoriety from representing white ball criminal trials
of the civil trials, so.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
He's a formidable opponent.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
I think he's a little bit more in line with
the kind of presentation that we saw from David Ynetti
and Alan Jackson, so I think it probably puts the
county team on the heels a little bit well.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
I saw yesterday though, a little blur up that Karen
Read's lawyers aren't very happy. They were criticizing it like
they're spending tax payer money now for the special prosecutor.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Yeah, and I think a lot of people had questions
about that. So the district attorneys, all of them in
the different counties, have the ability in various cases sometimes
it's a conflict of interest. They have the general power
to appoint special prosecutors. Now DA's offices across the state,
they're all funded yearly based on the you know, the
state budget, and it's really up to the discretion of
(03:03):
each office how to spend their money.
Speaker 7 (03:05):
So it's not any additional money that's being put out
that the Norfolk DA's office is not already allocated. And
I don't know the particulars of how he will be
paid in what manner, but you know it's certainly going
to be funded by the taxpayers in some way.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Hey, Catherine, do you think Karen Reid should be nervous?
Speaker 8 (03:25):
I would be a little bit nervous.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
I think, you know what I expect bringing in an
attorney like Hank Brennan. You know, from my perspective, he
probably went over this case file with a fine tooth comb,
and I don't think there's any chance he would have
taken it or come on to the case if he
thought one he couldn't win, or two if there was
going to be you know, some sort of intervening federal
(03:49):
indictments or anything like that. So I think what we
will likely see is that the case gets presented in
a different way. They'll probably change up some of the witnesses,
I'm sure, kind of you know, cut out the you know,
some of the paramedics, and you know, as we all
listen to multiple over and over. So I would I'd
(04:09):
be more nervous with Hank Brennan than I was I
would be if he was not appointed.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Put it that way, Well, the special prosecutor yesterday said
it was going to be a fair trial with no
outside influences? Was that a shot at someone?
Speaker 5 (04:25):
I think, you know, I think it's a sort of
a general shot at what's been going on with this
case is you guys know, I mean, we've been covering
it for so long, and there's so much outside pressure.
There's a lot of online you know, discussions and people
covering the case, including people like me. There's people who
are very you know, entrenched on both sides, and there's
been a lot of vitriol back and forth. I think
(04:45):
what he is going to attempt to do, and I
do think it helps to somebody who he's been a
practicing defense attorney for, you know, the past twenty twenty
five years, that he understands that ultimately Karen Reid is
entitled to a fair impartial child. They shouldn't be outside it, Flince.
We should only be paying attention to the evidence that's
presented in court. So we'll see how it goes.
Speaker 9 (05:08):
We'll see if that can come to fruition.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Well the retrials in January, have we already reserved you?
Speaker 10 (05:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Okay, So don't leave town, all right? Thank you, Catherine,
always the pleasure. Let's go to Tatum. This isn't Jason Tatum?
Speaker 8 (05:24):
Is it not?
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Okay Tatum?
Speaker 11 (05:29):
Hi, how are you doing this morning? I don't always
asking him. I'm related to Jason tam and unfortunately to
say now, yeah, well.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Where are you calling from? Tatum?
Speaker 11 (05:38):
I'm calling from.
Speaker 8 (05:39):
Dover, mass Oh, she got money?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Okay? Again, always comes down. Do you have a lot
of money?
Speaker 12 (05:47):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Okay, Tatum. Listen very carefully, here comes the Sabrina Sound. Tatum,
sitting there in beautiful Dover, Massachusetts. Do you know the
Sabrina Secret Sound?
Speaker 11 (06:03):
I really think I do. I've been working hard with
my parents and my sister on this. We think it's
a shovel in the dirt and sharpest.
Speaker 8 (06:09):
Tool that is in correct.
Speaker 13 (06:16):
Oh yeah, it's a two part answer.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
It's a two part answer, we know.
Speaker 11 (06:27):
Yeah, Okay, okay, yeah, is incorrect?
Speaker 13 (06:30):
Yeah, maybe go back and look at different songs.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
All right, Well, the Sabrina Secret Sound rolls on three
ten with the v Bros. You'll hear the sound again
and have a chance that sold out Sabrina Carpenter tickets.
We do have weird stories coming out. We're getting into
fall this weekend. Right that means apple picking orchards and
wagon rides. Well, this weird story is not going to
make you fail any better about that. That's next, Kiss
(07:06):
went Away?
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Kiss went Away seems a little weird to me.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
Oh my god, it's time for weird stories.
Speaker 8 (07:19):
I'm pretty creepy for the Billy and Lisa in the morning.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
All right, So tis the season for apple picking all
that kind of fun stuff, right, I was thinking about
going this weekend. Well, you may think twice because dozens
of people were injured in Wisconsin. One of those cute
little wagons that you see all over the place tipped.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Over during a field trip and an apple orchard.
Speaker 14 (07:41):
During a field trip in the town of Lafayette, several children,
along with parents and chaperones were on a wagon ride
through an apple orchard. During the time, one of the
wagons began to lose control as it was descending on
a hill. They attempted to stop the wagon from descending
down the hill sideways, and it abruptly over turn. When
the wagon overturned, there were multiple injuries to both children
(08:04):
and adult.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Yikesikes, it seems like a hay ride.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Yeah, the wagons farm. Yeah, it was probably maybe a
young kid and experience took the turn.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
A college kid at the wheel.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Do you know how many of those I've been on
those little hay ride?
Speaker 12 (08:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (08:22):
My god. It's apple picking season right bell.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
This week on Dining Playbook, we are apple picking first.
We're going to be at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury.
Will enjoy the change of the season.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Cider Hill Farm has the best donuts, cider donuts. They
are unbelievable. You go in, you get them right off
the little conveyed.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Oh my god, yeah yeah so. Uh. Former First Lady
Milania Trump took the social media yesterday to defend her
past as a nude model, and uh, here's what she says.
While images of famous nude art is shown, but not
but not hers? Not hers?
Speaker 6 (09:00):
Why do I stand proudly behind minute modeling work? The
more pressing question is why has the media chosen to
scrutinize my celebration of the human forum in a fashion photoshoot?
Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of
the human body? Throughout history, master artists have revered the
(09:23):
human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration. We should honor
our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art
as a powerful means of self expression.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
It's a celebration. All right.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
I have a question for you guys. Is this really
Millennia or is this aim?
Speaker 14 (09:42):
Aw?
Speaker 4 (09:43):
No, it is really her. Okay, that's part of her book,
her upcoming book which is coming out to get a
memoir October.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
First.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
I'm glad that she's owning it.
Speaker 13 (09:51):
It doesn't you know, it doesn't bother me, not any
that any female what she does with her body at all.
I don't care. I just think, you know, it's interesting
saying that, like now it's part of her memoir October.
Speaker 14 (10:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
I just like but and I just like how all
the famous nude people in the background. Yeah, you know,
kind of aligning herself with those people.
Speaker 13 (10:13):
Yeah, Like she like she should be like Michael Angelo's
model or something from like the Greek God.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
It's a celebration. Yeah, didn't you post nude recently?
Speaker 8 (10:22):
No, I did a launder ray photos.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Okay. You know what you embrace, Embrace your own body,
gat yeah's embrace it like the.
Speaker 10 (10:30):
Way you look.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Other people like it, you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (10:32):
He actually loves my breasts again, taken out of contact.
Speaker 13 (10:39):
You know, at least I think you should own that
it was in contact. A burglar was trapped to corvette
begs the owner for help. So this guy in Florida
was trying to steal a corvette and then flipped it
and then was begging the owner of a towel, can
get out of it?
Speaker 15 (10:53):
My brother, this is not your car, this is my car. Well,
why are you in my car? No, you can't get
out because we call in the car. He was able
to break in the car.
Speaker 16 (11:04):
But that particular corvette, if you're in the car and
you don't have the keys, none of the electrical components
will function. But little did he know that there's a
manual door handle underneath the seat that, thank god, he
didn't know. Just be alert, you know, when you're getting
in and out of your car. Be vigilant, be alert
of your surroundings.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Well, what an idiot could have got out?
Speaker 4 (11:27):
He didn't know the little secret button there.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Oh god. We're coming up on entertainment, the big post
Malone show. A lot of people have been sending talk packs.
They were calling earlier this morning. They say it's the
best show they've ever seen in their entire life. We'll
hear some of that from Fenway Park last night and
we'll have the very latest on Diddy. It didn't go
well for him yesterday. No, he was denied bail again. Anyway,
(11:49):
that and more coming up in entertainment stand by Billion
Leeds in the morning. Just keep me laughing all the
way to work.
Speaker 8 (11:55):
I love how everybody is true.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Leaving this out last show in Boston.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Morning. Oh man, I gotta tell you another crazy show
les crazy every single minute, just crazy.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
This morning jam packed with all good stuff.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
And we've got the entertainment justin, you have talkback. You
want to get in first.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
A lot of people buzzing about the post malone show
at Fenway last night.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Justin.
Speaker 17 (12:17):
I've been waiting all morning for you to say how
Jen's night was. We all want to know how did
her porta potty work out? Did she get in the front,
did she get something signed? I've been waiting to know.
I looked for her on the JumboTron when they showed
the pit, and then I was like, oh, I have
no idea what she looks like, but maybe she was
on there.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Yeah, I talked about it earlier. She did spend eight
hours in line on Landsdown Street, did get in, got
front row, right in the pit, said it was an
amazing show. I'm not sure about the porta potty, but
she did get on the JumboTron. You can see it
at justin Beezy on my Instagram story. You can see
her clearly with her tongue out cowboy hat.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Wow, I love it. So you don't know if she
used the porta potty or were a dipe.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
I'll find out that today. I haven't talked to her.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
I saw your She looks great, by the way, Thank
you in a cowboy?
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Yeah, yes, she really did.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
She looks really good.
Speaker 13 (13:05):
Is that going to add that to the costumes in
the bedroom?
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Little cowgirl?
Speaker 5 (13:10):
Now the entertainment updates with the Billy constad.
Speaker 8 (13:14):
I know you're always looking for new.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Maybe they've already done that.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Yeah, oh maybe that was one of their little bedroom numbers.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
I'll just say, I'll just give you two words. Yeh yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Post Malone packing Fenway Park last night, and he was
as thrilled for the show as they were for him.
We've done a lot of shows in this beautiful city.
Never in a million years could I have imagined playing
at Famiway Park, ladies and.
Speaker 18 (13:44):
Gentlemen, So.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
I just wanted to say thank you. So very much
for having me, ladies and gentlemen, and for coming out tonight.
It means the world to me, and I hope everyone
has half as much.
Speaker 10 (13:56):
Fun as I do. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
I gotta tell you all of the reaction we've gotten
this morning positive best show ever.
Speaker 8 (14:04):
Right, Hey, guys, this is Sarah.
Speaker 14 (14:06):
I went to the Post Malone concert last night and
had an amazing time with my whole family.
Speaker 9 (14:11):
There was ten of us that went together.
Speaker 5 (14:13):
It was so amazing watching my sixty seven year old
mother rock out Post Malone.
Speaker 10 (14:18):
As you can tell from my voice.
Speaker 11 (14:20):
We had a grand time. My favorite part was when
they were doing a Sarah chant.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Obviously my name after Sarah did an amazing job playing
guitar for Post.
Speaker 10 (14:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
I mean it's been kind of universal a praise for
the praise for the show last night. Everyone loved it.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Can I be a member of her family?
Speaker 2 (14:42):
That sounds like.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
A fun family.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (14:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Post Malone is like God to his fan.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Oh my god. Yeah, that's the whole thing. My wife.
People are like, why would you spend eight hours waiting
in line? And she's like, you don't understand. We're all
a family if they're all Post Malone fans and they
bond over post and his music, and they meet new friends,
and it's the whole thing with her Porter Party.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Captain Mike here from the talk Back Mafia, I saw
a truly disturbing vision last night on Lansdown Street. Two
young ladies illegally dumping what appeared to be a young
child's port a party down a sewer on Lansdown Street.
I hope that wasn't your wife, Justin, and they'll comment
on that. Mic, I can't believe you haven't had a
(15:22):
conversation with Jennabody.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
I mean, she's really tired. She's getting the kids ready
for school. When I go home, I'll get the full scoop.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
You may want to call ahead and get that cowgirl
out for that. I'm just saying. Also, last night the
season premiere of the first ever Golden Bachelourette, Lisa, you
were up late. I guess the local guy got kicked
off his sixties.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
That's pretty much all you need to know. Our guy
from pebd Ken is gone.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Ken.
Speaker 13 (15:45):
Yeah, but you know what, if there's any mother or
any single lady in her late fifties early sixties, who's
looking for a nice guy from Peabody. Yeah that also
does property management hit him up?
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, he's available.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Yeah, well we're not sure about the property man.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Yeah, that's it. That's kind of a weird.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Yeah. I think he just rents an apartment.
Speaker 8 (16:04):
Okay.
Speaker 13 (16:05):
For instance, like my apartment complex, the people that work
at are considered property managers. They don't own it, they
just work at the.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Mid When I have property manager, my first thought is,
quote property manager.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah, he's like an office worker.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Well, well, you know, I have to say, if you
know Ken, you work with Ken, reach out to one
of us, because we'd love to have him on the show.
Speaker 8 (16:25):
I know, I want to know what five minutes is
like in the mansion and.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Is it mansion really that nice?
Speaker 9 (16:29):
Yeah? Uh?
Speaker 2 (16:30):
And at least so you said Jack the caterer is drunk.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
No, I just think he's just like a party guy
and he's fun to be around.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
He was cooking for them last night. He's Riley's favorite.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
So yeah, favorite to win.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
No, just like the favorite guy in the house.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
He gives Uncle Mark vive he does.
Speaker 13 (16:47):
If you know Lisa's uncle Mark looks like this guy's
like like a little like right hair, he's husky.
Speaker 8 (16:54):
Yeah, but he just has that Bobby. He just wants
to make everyone happy and party guy.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Yeah, that's why Riley's so connected to him.
Speaker 15 (17:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Oh calls them tight pant Jack.
Speaker 9 (17:02):
We all were calling them tight pant Jacoline.
Speaker 8 (17:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (17:06):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
The new Saturday Night Live lineup was announced yesterday. The
season premiere September twenty eighth. Jane Smart, who just grabbed
the Emmy for the show Hacks, won the award earlier
this week. She's going to guest host, and Jelly Roll
will be the musical guest on the opening episode of
this new season. Quite a lineup. October fifth, Cold Play
(17:27):
the musical guest. At least you should go to New York.
You love Chris Mark.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
I'm trying to put the request in for tickets.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
October twelfth, Big One, Ariana Grande the guest host. Stevie
Nicks will be the musical guest, her first time on
the show since nineteen eighty three. October nineteenth, Michael Keaton,
I'm going to host the show and Billie Eilish will
be the musical guest, and then Chapel Roon the musical
guest at November two. That's a good lineup.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
That's a great line up.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
God, how many seasons? Fifteen fifty seven?
Speaker 8 (17:56):
Oh no, no more than that. Look it up because
we can't get it.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
I sat in the front row of SNL when I
first had Max. We went down and Tim had a
contact there, the former executive producer, and she put us
right in the front row.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Really, yep, Shila buff was the what was the guest?
Speaker 2 (18:14):
I was in the audience for Saturday Night Life a
long time ago, and I think Barry White was the
musical guest.
Speaker 13 (18:22):
Oh wow, that's cool. But rest in peace of Barry White. Also,
this will be the fiftieth season.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Fiftieth Okay. We got to talk about Diddy. Denied bail yesterday.
He will remain in lock up until the trial. This
was his lawyer, not giving up by a long shot.
Speaker 18 (18:38):
I told mister Combs, I'm going to try and get
his case to trial as quickly as possible. I'm going
to try and minimize the amount of time he spends
in very very difficult and I believe in humane housing conditions.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Yeah, they don't want him going anywhere now.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
There's so many pictures and videos that are coming forward.
A lot with Justin Bieber, a young Justin Bieber one
where like pretty recently where he looks to me patting
him down? Did he padding Justin Bieber down for a wire?
So he thought he was being followed and then setting
him up. But there's also a picture that was everywhere
yesterday of Diddy, j Lo and Aaliyah at one of
(19:14):
his parties in a bed.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Oh what yeah, See Jlo knows a lot of stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
She knows a lot.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
She knows a lot.
Speaker 8 (19:21):
She's in a bed with him and Aliyah. She knows
too much.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Didn't somebody suggest that that's one of the reasons j
Loo and Ben broke up because of all these Diddy
things surfacing.
Speaker 13 (19:30):
Oh so poor a Leah between the r Kelly and
then Diddy, Like oh my god.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
And they say Diddy's people offered fifty million dollars in
bail and they had no interest in it. And he
also vowed to stay away from women unless it was family,
like no female visitors and like, uh yeah, they want
him bad. Judge basically decided there were no conditions that
would reduce the risk of him witness tampering. I guess
(19:55):
he's already done some of that.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Justin Oh yeah, he tried to silence them after the
first lawsuit.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Wow. Hey, the trailer for the new Ellen de Generous
Comedy special dropped yesterday. We have a clip.
Speaker 19 (20:05):
They kind, girl wasn't kind. That was the headline. Here's
the problem. I'm a comedian who got a talk show,
and I ended the show every day by saying, be
kind to one another. Had I ended my show by saying,
go yourselves, people would have been pleasantly surprised to find
out I'm kind.
Speaker 8 (20:25):
That's actually funny.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
I'm thin. Good Morning show, field trip. What do you
mean you get together? Go somewhere watch the Yellen thing?
Oh okay, I don't think she's coming to She did
come she yea, she came recently.
Speaker 8 (20:37):
Yeah, which is part of this whole. It is show.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah, she is really good on stage, so this special
should be awesome. Uh so we got that yesterday and
it's first time on stage in six years. It's been
six years.
Speaker 13 (20:49):
Yeah, she didn't because she was first of all, she
was the queen of TV. She didn't have to do
anything right. She was making aunt millions and millions.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Cookwear along.
Speaker 3 (21:00):

it to air, wasn't happy with the finished product. It
was scheduled for Apple Plus and uh it doesn't exist.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
No, she didn't like it, so she basically bought her
way out of it.
Speaker 8 (21:24):
I love that for her. I wish I had that.
I'm going to buy my way out of it money totally.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Yeah. It was a big time director too. This was
a very costly documentary to make. And now it's gone.
And Christina Aguilera getting set to celebrate the twenty fifth
anniversary of her debut album and And she's collaborating with
Sabrina Carpenter and Machine Gun Kelly reimaging six of the albums.
Speaker 8 (21:49):
I love that.
Speaker 13 (21:50):
I don't really feel like we need Machine Gun Kelly
for this, but I love the Suprena Carpenter thing.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
I know that is an odd parent.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Yeah, okay, yeah, Christina, Wow, she's probably going to be cool.
Speaker 8 (22:00):
Yeah, but he's not cool. I think he's got a
cool He's gotten a lot of crap in the last
how many years, justin.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
With his whole upper body is black.
Speaker 8 (22:07):
Yeah, from the and then like the M and M
beef that was like he lost that.
Speaker 13 (22:11):
And then the weird relationship with Megan, Like I just
don't think he's that cool.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Yeah, he was dating a couple of famous women.
Speaker 13 (22:17):
Well he's been with Megan Fox for like years now.
And remember they were drinking to this blood.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
And they're on and all.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Yeah they did ayahuasca. Yeah, and they were puking all
over each other.
Speaker 8 (22:27):
Yes, and they're like, oh my god, we're someone.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Love speaking of ayahuasca. Patriots played the Jets. Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 8 (22:35):
Well, look at that transition.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
In the business.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Okay, the magic of the Billy and least the Morning Show. Yeah,
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets the Patriots tonight the Thursday
night football game. Here's Jacoby Burst. A lot of excitement
going into the Thursday night game.
Speaker 10 (22:51):
Quick turn a round.
Speaker 16 (22:53):
You know, all the players energies up, coaches energies up,
so you know, we're excited for this opportunity.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
There you go. We're brought you by Dover Rugg and Home.
More rugs, more broad loom, more affordable, faster delivery, faster installation.
You can buy rugs anywhere, but it's much better to
buy them at Dover rug Natick, Boston and Burlington. And
there you go.
Speaker 19 (23:14):
When I say be kind to one another, I don't
mean only the people that think the same way that
you do. I mean be kind to everyone.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
The Villy and Lisa in the morning.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Oh god, I am so excited about the guests we
have in studio right now. He's a childhood friend of
mine and we're here to talk about the rise and
Fall of Disco. Justin Rise and Fall of Disco. Oh
my god.
Speaker 10 (23:45):
This is such a cool story behind that one.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
And now we're going to get that story in a second.
But we're talking about the book. The Boston hustle, the hairspray,
the cologne, the disco, and the betrayal in the boat.
The book is written by my childhood buddy, Joey Carbella.
Good to see your buddy.
Speaker 10 (24:02):
Hi, Billy, you look great.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Thank you for taking the trip into New York City. Now,
Disco Inferno just played. You were at a disco a
Tramps concert and you somehow caught fire.
Speaker 10 (24:13):
Yes I was. I was actually DJing for them at
Lucifer's in Camore Square. It was the first time the
Tramps played Lucifer. They used to play for Sugar Shock,
which is the black club in Boston. Yes, they became
big and boom, all of a sudden they crossed over.
So there at Lucifer's at DJ in and they go on,
and I come downstairs out of the booth, and I'm
standing right on the stage and disco infernos on and
(24:34):
I'm going and the flash pods boom, go off, and
the flash pods were right in front of me, right up,
right up, j and I went right up. I had
a mow here sweater on. It burned off, my mustache
turned white, my eyebrows, my nose hears in front of
my hair. They knocked me down, they rolled me around,
(24:55):
and the Tramps never missed the bag.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
You were the disco Inferno. People must have thought you
were part of shot.
Speaker 8 (25:00):
He was buried.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Isn't that Joey on fire?
Speaker 10 (25:07):
End of the night that I go see as they
get paid in the Tramps are there and I walked
in and Jimmy Ellis, the lead singer from the tramsfits
at me and points at me and goes burn baby burn.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
I gave him the finger, didn't you tell me on
the phone last night you flew in for us from
New York, New Jersey, didn't you tell me? The book
is already a best seller in ticon.
Speaker 10 (25:27):
This is unbelieved. This is I'm more shocked about this
than anybody. Top New Releases hardcover Amazon. We debuted a
number one. We sat there for eight straight days. I'm
still in the top ten on the hardcover, top fifteen
on Kindle, and there was only one book that's still
in the top ten that was in the top ten
when I debuted at number one. So we definitely we
(25:51):
hit it. We is interest, but we don't know yet
because we haven't got the reviews. It could be a movie, right,
Oh this not could be. We're definitely going to do film.
I'm this close from being able to make an announcement
within the next thirty to sixty days. And of course,
our girl Angie Parry from Boston. Yeah yeah, Angela, will
ah ya Angela. That's listen. She grew over Spring Street.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
That's right.
Speaker 10 (26:14):
Cambridge is one of my disco ducks. They used to
follow me from club to club. It's so amazing how
this this circle that we just keep in touch. Billy
and and we all was still there.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Well, I got to tell people listening, and I truly
believe I would not be sitting here. I wouldn't be
in this business without you, because I was going to Emerson,
I had transferred from Merrimack, and uh, you know, I
had to work a bunch of jobs because I gave
up my scholarship. Now I have to pay the tuition.
And you were djaying. Disco hadn't even really blown up
yet nineteen seventy four, and you were djaying in a
(26:46):
small club in ken Moore Square called Yesterday, and you
said to me, hey, you know what, you could take
a couple of days of doing happy hours at Yesterday.
And I'm like, well, what does that even mean. I
don't know the music. I'm into rock and rolling. So
I did the happy hours and one thing led to another.
I became a nightclub DJ, and through DJ in the nightclubs,
I met all the radio people. And so you're responsible
(27:07):
for me sitting here.
Speaker 10 (27:08):
I apologize to.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Everybody, but this is amazing.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
We found the guy who created Billy Hid.
Speaker 10 (27:19):
Billy was the b M O C.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
When we grow up.
Speaker 10 (27:21):
Billy was like the cool dude and you know, and uh,
but he wasn't as honest and nice as people thinking
is Billy. He's just smarter than the rest of us.
He didn't get caught doing the stuff that he did.
I mean, I don't know about you, but there was
a place called leech Missles and she's Cambridge. Oh yeah,
uh oh yeah, that's in the book. Oh God, got
(27:41):
you in the book. And there's another stay I want
to tell about Billy that you know has to do
with me. But we would go to leech Mere and
Billy was working. He was working on the loading dock,
so he was, you know, loading the stereos and they
sold everything and I sold whatever you wanted, whatever you needed.
You went there. You know, it was like a walmot.
It was very small in these Cambridge and you go
(28:01):
in to see Billy and we're going to have lunch
or Billy and he'd have a stack of receipts if
each filled them out over at lunch, and each wanted
let's take running. During the course of the day. We'd
go to the loaning dock and pick up a stereo,
old j D L GeV lamp, whatever you want, and
then we went out and we fenced. Then we went out,
(28:21):
we gave it to the fence and east came a
named Briga. He was fenced. He fenced it off out
of the garage on Thorndyke Street and we'd give half
back to Billy.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
And my dad was always where'd you get this money?
Speaker 10 (28:33):
That one about the Malooney money of n like I
think it was the Bolooney money. In nineteen seventy three,
we were all we were passing out phony twenties and
then barcle Frankly called me up and said the fedsert Wait, Joe.
Speaker 8 (28:46):
Do you know about the car insurance gam he used
to do.
Speaker 10 (28:48):
Oh well, I was a part of that one. You
might owe me on that part.
Speaker 8 (28:52):
I always got a cut disappear.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
No, that's place near in the Charles River where you
know it was known people if they needed to get
rid of their car and they just jumped it in
the river. There have to be like one hundred and
fifty cars right across the street from the Museum of Science. Anyway,
you went it to the record labels, and I'm trying
to remember you spend time working here as a music.
Speaker 10 (29:16):
Directors the music director here. I was Sunny Joe's music director.
As a matter of fact I got here in nineteen
eighty and how I got here. I was working for
Atlantic Records, and I went out and just chose on
my own to go get a song by Stacey Latisar
called let Me Be a Rangel played. It wasn't what
you call a priority with the record The companies excuse me.
(29:39):
So I went out and did it myself and I
wasn't supposed to do that, and they fired me and
they said, if you want to go to radio and
get played what you want to get played, you should
get into radio. So yeah, I call it billy what's
going on?
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Over to kiss?
Speaker 10 (29:52):
Pop up Bopapoh?
Speaker 2 (29:54):
So I invented you too. You invented me.
Speaker 10 (30:01):
He paid me back and I went there and I
was a twenty six year old intern.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Yeah. And by the way, when you were at the labels,
you worked with a lot of didn't you create the
Robin s songs Show Me Love?
Speaker 10 (30:11):
Yeah? When I was at I signed that, I think
in nineteen ninety two or nineteen niney three. When I
was at Atlanta, Guess Robins showed me Love was mine?
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Give me some Robins?
Speaker 10 (30:21):
Oh yeah, biget Cels record Eva.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
And you also did end Vogue.
Speaker 10 (30:25):
I did it well. I did all. I coordinated and
put together the entire radio promotion campaign for crossover radio,
which Atlantic did not do any of. I did that
on my own too, and busted a while wide open.
That was a big one.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
If you just tuned in, this is a very cool
segment for me because you want to talk about memories
that Joey Carvella was here with me. We went to
grammar school together, we went to high school together. He
invented me, I invented him. It's just a great story.
And was reading the book.
Speaker 10 (30:54):
I'm just going to say this, he was really was
smarter than all of us. Billy sat one day. He
sat back and took a look at all the people
he was hanging all the idiots he was hanging out with,
and said, man, I gotta find a job so I
can't hang with these guys anymore.
Speaker 8 (31:10):
I moved on up.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
The book is amazing. I started reading it last night.
But tell us about you were on the road with
Prince for a while.
Speaker 10 (31:18):
I was actually did Boston with Prince. I did. I
did two or three nights with Prince. I'm not sure.
It was at the Paradise Club on Commonwealth that he
used to be the garage.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Yeah, the picture is still on the wall there.
Speaker 10 (31:27):
Yes, it's just yes. So yeah. The first time I
met him, I was I was whacked out on Kaylud's.
They were called disco biscuits back then. So I met
him and I just he had performed. I met him
afterwards and I was high and I kissed him right
on the lips and macked up with those big eyes.
(31:50):
I was like, WHOA. And I think at the end
of the day that I'm the guy that really mentally
made him as shy as he was.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
He was freaked out by you, I think.
Speaker 10 (31:59):
A little bit. But we went on the road. We
I went, I think was there a couple of nights,
and we got to be friendly. And he actually stayed
in touch with me when I was at Kiss and
he did the Purple Rain tour. He did one night
at Avalont to test the tour. I went to that show,
and he got in touch with me to set that
up because he looked at Boston as the best multi
(32:21):
racial audience that he could get to to test the show.
So Purple Rain show, that entire show started tested in Boston,
and he kept in touch with him until about two
weeks before he passed away.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Wow.
Speaker 10 (32:34):
Yeah, he was looking for a female, a lady DJ
who played Vinyl, and we have one. Her name is
Natasha Diggs, a friend of mine, and we set it
up and she was getting ready to get on a
plane and go and he passed away.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
So I got to ask you, only because he's in
the news, did you ever work with or spend time
around did he?
Speaker 10 (32:52):
I spent some time around did he? But all these
rumors and all this stuff that you hear that's come out.
We've known about that in New York for both five
or six, seven, eight years, you know, the whole bisexuality
and the freakouts, and you know, you know, it's horrible.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
I mean, I gotta ask you, you know, hor are
you gonna pop up in a video? Never?
Speaker 10 (33:13):
Okay, everything was Everything was consensual. A matter of fact,
I think I may have been abused myself. That's a
whole other story.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
I gotta tell you, Joey, I am so proud.
Speaker 10 (33:24):
Of Roofie did in Philadelphia. That's all.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Like I said, Yeah, well he abused Prince. There was
no tongue.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
I have so many more questions, especially about our childhood
and East Cambridge in the sat Cosmo and Dammiano Feasts.
By the way, that was just two weeks ago. And
there was a big lineup two weeks ago down there
in East Cambridge.
Speaker 10 (33:44):
Tell can you believe that? Yeah, well they've had the
Tramps there and Tavares, so I.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Mean it's another one Tavaris.
Speaker 10 (33:52):
Yeah, they played there. Hopefully next year I'll be there.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Don't take away the music.
Speaker 10 (33:56):
Yeahs from New Bedford. Chubby and the Chubby and the Turnpipes.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Originally, Wow, Joey just confirmed all the crazy stories you've
been telling us.
Speaker 8 (34:06):
Joy yell him he's crazy.
Speaker 10 (34:08):
No, no, no, no, yes, he is.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Real. Y. You know, I love the book and I
love us and friendship and everything. But the main reason
I wanted you here was to confirm a lot of
the stories, the gang boys, stories that they would never
believe of that.
Speaker 10 (34:23):
You know, this is there was there were times, I
mean there was one I forgot the kid's name, that
he was a real pain in the ass and he
we tore him off a bridge. Us they dumped the cause,
literally dumped the cause. No, no, no, no, it was
(34:44):
only like it was low. It was it was low
six feet.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Okay, I got to ask about this story because it's
in the book. Did we really redirect the course of
the head of the Charles Regatta.
Speaker 10 (34:54):
Yes, we we used to.
Speaker 20 (34:57):
Do cherry bombs at him Bridge and every time we
threw it at cherry bomby days like Rope, it was surprizy.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Joey. I have so many more questions, but I'm proud
of you. Congratulate you, Mark any et A on the movie.
Speaker 10 (35:19):
I think I'll come back.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
I'll come back.
Speaker 10 (35:21):
I'm gonna come back for in Store at the Coop
sometime in October November.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
I'll come back to We'll talk you when you do,
when you will pay your air fare?
Speaker 4 (35:27):
Well, okay, take a amazing Joey. All right, we'll wrap
up the show. It's been a busy Thursday. That's next one.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Kiss they can't wait. It's the morning wrap up on
Billy and Lisa in the morning.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
You know, really hoping we'd have a winner for the
Sabrina Secret sound that we've had the same sound all
week long, but we did not. Julie got it wrong
at seven ten.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Okay, Julie, you've been doing your homework, paying attention, so
please tell us what is the Sabrina secret sound.
Speaker 8 (35:58):
I try, and I hope.
Speaker 9 (36:00):
People don't get at me because I'm really guessing. But is
it a you know, like pulling a switch to turn
on a ceiling pan, pulling the little thing.
Speaker 8 (36:09):
That Julie, That is very very incorrect.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Ye.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
Sorry, it's not pulling the little thing, although that.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
Never hurts.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
And then at ten Tatum, she came so close.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Tatum sitting there in beautiful Dover, Massachusetts. Do you know
the Sabrina secret sound?
Speaker 11 (36:31):
I really think I do. I've been working hard with
my parents and my sister on this. We think it's
a shovel in the dirt and sharpest tool that is
in correct incorrect.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Yeah, it's a two part answer. You got to get
the sound correct and the Sabrina song that it's tied to.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
It was close.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
It was close. So three ten, the v Bros And
Gianna will play it again. You'll have another shot and
maybe a hint's coming if someone doesn't get it. I'm
just saying. The season premiere of The Golden Bachelorette was
last night. We had Riley Donovan on to recap it.
That's Lisa's son. He's fourteen years old and he's a
big fan of Jack who was singing. He has a
nickname for him.
Speaker 9 (37:11):
We all were calling him tight pant Jack last night
because his pants were very tight, and when he got
out of the limo is one of the pant legs.
It kind of rode up his leg and he know
it was up by his knee and it was like, oh,
come on.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Jack, Yeah, so a little douchey. Yeah, play yourself together.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
So we'll have Riley on every single week. He's a
fan fave.
Speaker 21 (37:32):
Oh my god, I freaking love, love love Riley.
Speaker 12 (37:38):
He is.
Speaker 21 (37:41):
My favorite of all of you guys. Sorry, I'm I'm sorry,
but he's make.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
You feel like I'm happy because I birthed him.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
Yeah, exactly, So yeah, shout out to young Riley. Yeah. See,
the post malone show was last night at Fenway. A
lot of people are chiming in about it, saying that
they love it. But we got a call. This is
an amazing story from listener Erica, who went from a
hospital bed to her Idol post malone show at Fenway.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Before they even pulling back in the room, I said
to my nurse, I said, just so you know, I
am going.
Speaker 8 (38:19):
To post malone later today and her name was Janine.
Speaker 9 (38:22):
She laughed in my face.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
She says, Erica, your hair looks great, but you're not
going to post Malone And I said, oh, I'm going.
Speaker 8 (38:28):
And you know what, I made it?
Speaker 4 (38:30):
Yeah, she made it really really good story.
Speaker 7 (38:35):
We have a comment with the call Erica who went
to the post Malone concert last night. Erica, you are amazing.
Speaker 5 (38:43):
You just totally lifted up my spirits today.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Really that was a good call.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
Yeah, really, really, really good story. We had Catherine loft
Us in to talk about the special prosecutor that was
just assigned to the Karen Reid case, a defense attorney
that actually defended Whitey Bulger. What does this mean?
Speaker 6 (39:03):
He's a formidable opponent.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
I think he's a little bit more in line with
the kind of presentation that we saw from David Gannetti
and Alan Jackson. So I think it probably puts the
countery theme on the heels a little bit.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
The new trial starts in January. We will cover it
and we'll have Catherine back on. And a few minutes
ago we had our buddy Joey Carvello on. He's a
Boston legend, wrote a new book called The Boston Hustle
about the disco era. This guy's had an incredible career
from radio, disco DJ the hip hop world. And he
even kissed Prince.
Speaker 10 (39:37):
I met him and I just he had performed. I
met him afterwards and I was high and I kissed
him right on the lips. Up with those big guys,
it was like whoa. And I think at the end
of the day that I'm the guy that really mentally
made him as shy as he was.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Classic.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
Yeah, The Boston Hustle seems like an amazing book, a
lot of great stories. Billy Costa even mentioned in the
book as well, And Billy, you didn't mention this, but Joey,
there'll be more with Joey on Your Food show. Oh yeah,
on WBZ with her Sunday night, nine o'clock, which is
more long form.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Oh yeah, we're gonna get all the questions in on this.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
I feel like, you know, I got it was so
cool listening to your interview with Joey and your childhood
and all the memories. I feel like we didn't have
enough time, right so on Your Food So that'll be
this weekend right.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
This coming Sunday night, six o'clock on WBZ.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
News Radio more stories in the lead up to sixty minutes.
How about that? All right, catch up with the full
show podcast that'll be up right around ten thirty starch
Billy and Lisa in the Morning. Once you finish that,
you can always check out the after show with Winning
and myself behind the scenes look at the Billy and
Lisa show. But coming up next, this is huge. We
(40:46):
have talkback Leftovers and for the first time we have
two talkbackers, one producer Riley and two my wife Jen,
stan Boy and Lisa.
Speaker 8 (41:02):
I love the stories and the conversation. I get such
great advice from those guys.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Morning team in Boston and waitop, we're back with the
Philly and Lisa in the morning and.
Speaker 8 (41:13):
Kiss one Await Bosses number one hit music station.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
So this become one of my favorite segments, justin to
talk back leftovers, because we get so many of them
some mornings that we don't want to let them think
we're not paying attention.
Speaker 4 (41:26):
Yeah, we decided to dedicate one segment in particular right
now around nine forty every morning for the leftovers and
post malone was that Fenway last night my wife Jen
went We talked a lot about it was she gonna
wear a diaper to stand in line for eight hours,
use my daughter's poured to party partty. What was she
gonna do? Well, here she is, she clears it all up.
Speaker 22 (41:45):
Good morning, It's Justin's life, Jed. The show las Nay
was amazing. So tired today, I just wanted to call
and set the record street. We did not have depends
on or have to result to Gemma's travel Partty that
was in the trunk we had right outside of our line.
And the great thing about post hands is we all
had each other's back all day long and all night long.
(42:08):
There was also a right outside the pit. So so
there you go.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
Love that for her taken you know what, asked and answered, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
Yeah. The kid that was right next to her the
entire time in line in the pit, he was the
one that got the selfie with Posts. I'm so close
to her.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
But she, uh, she's gonna wear the cowgirl out.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
She had the boots and the hat.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
Yeah yeah we go color.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
They were brown hat. Yeah yeah, I said to her,
so you know what, you can leave those boots on.
Our producer Riley is all for this week and next week.
She is on a trip a solo trip with strangers
in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. We asked her to
(42:54):
check in via the talkback mic from all the way
across the world, and she did.
Speaker 12 (42:58):
Hey guys, producer Riley, check it in from Ecuador. It's
our first day here. We're about to hit the ground
run and just had a big breakfast. We're doing an
all day tour. I'm very excited to get started with
you guys already.
Speaker 8 (43:09):
How we miss you.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
I wanted her to talk about the person she already
hates she already gets.
Speaker 8 (43:13):
First of all, she's very kind and she's easy going.
I don't think.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
She's gonna hate make friends, yes, exactly.
Speaker 13 (43:19):
And she also loves to travel and this is the
great opportunity as a young person if you don't have
a lot of money, to go and see the world
and not a lot of money. So I'm happy for her,
but I miss her so much.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
Thank you for the update, Riley, and continue to update
us and give us all the details. You know, is
your roommate a Snora. That's a big one for me.
You're sleeping with strangers, and you know.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
I think tomorrow's talkback will be the key.
Speaker 4 (43:40):
Yeah, for sure, for sure. And earlier we had Joey
Carvello in the studio and he wrote a new book.
It's called The Boston Hustle. It's all about disco and
Boston and his crazy life. And he mentioned one place
in particular, Lucifers.
Speaker 21 (43:54):
I used to work at Lucifers, and I know Joey
Carvello and Sunny Joe White and all of those great
people from back in the day. And I just placed
my pre order for the book on Amazon. I can't
wait to read it.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
I gotta tell you, people started making fun of disco.
It was such a great time Disco. It was just amazing.
Everybody liked getting dressed up, looking good, going out dancing,
partner dancing, you know, because until Disco, most people were
used to the rock clubs, and you know, you.
Speaker 4 (44:27):
Know what's fun.
Speaker 8 (44:28):
I feel like the poor Mustache killed Disco.
Speaker 13 (44:31):
Like if you guys had just kept on the course
and didn't add in some weird things, you probably still
have to go to the stay.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
It certainly helped porn Mustache, you know that. I think
that was the fall of just thorn Mustache.
Speaker 4 (44:43):
The good stories with you and Joey.
Speaker 21 (44:45):
Bill giat In California.
Speaker 16 (44:46):
Loved hearing those stories of Joey and Billy kind of
reminded me of Google hunting, where Ben Affleck would say
every time I come to the door, I hope you
