So we all came in off the weekend early this morning,
and I think all of us were talking about seeing
clips of the Ariana Grande concert tour, which is unbelievable.

made sense of it, they got tickets for Ariana Grande's
concert here in Boston.

And it's kind of a different concept, a different way
to do things. But I really thought it was fun
and judging on the participation, you know, the talkbacks and
the calls people trying to win, Yeah, people liked it.

Boston qualified for the all expenses paid trip to Chicago
to see Auriana Grande. There, we pick up the hotel,

Nantucket Book Festival, which is happening this week on the
island of Nantucket. Tim is on the phone. He runs

fifteenth annual festival, and from the very beginning, the co
founders really wanted to create something that you could be
walking by and you realize that's my favorite author and
just walk in and listen to them speak about their book.

Now, Tim, this weekend on Nantucket or you're going to
be able to outdo the hype of last year's festival

we have an event on Friday at four. Jenna and

I will have a conversation and then we'll introduce those
three other authors and it's gonna be so fun. I
can't wait to have her here on Nantucket.

What are the some of the other things that go
on around the festival down there on Nantucket too?
Speaker 8 (24:51):
This year, we actually are starting on Wednesday, which we've
never started that early, but we have a special preview
evening that features four authors that wrote new books about Nantucket.
So it's great to set the scene of where we
are because I find Nantucket one of the most beautiful
places in the world. And all four of those writers
their novels are set on Nantucket, so that's really exciting.

And then it's a full day Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Every hour on the hour you can see a different author,
And as Lisa said, it's free, and it's just so exciting,
and there really isn't there's not a bad event. I mean,
even if you don't know the author, you're going to
walk in there and then walk out and say, wow,
I just I have to read everything they just wrote

they were such a great speaker. So that's kind of
what's exciting about the festival as well.

Just hop on a ferry with a friend and go
over for the day and check in all of these
fun conversations.

You have a glass of wine and the ferry on
the way over, and then you're ready for the book
call at festival. But the other thing is people can
fly right out of Boston.

Yeah.

Yeah, it's like twenty five minutes you're on the island.

In New York too, there's a direct flights right right
from New York. So a lot of a lot of

Yeah, Wednesday night at the Dreamland and then Thursday we

Isaac Fitzgerald who walked the Johnny Appleseed Trail and his book.
I mean, there's just so many I'm excited about every

in my head, I'm thinking I got married on a Friday.

a month exactly, gifts. So there you go. Anyway, the
topic time was like kind of extravagant, over the top weddings.

I once flew all the way to an island in
Greece for a wedding which took place on a beach,
and it was super beautiful, but the beach itself was
a partially nude beach, so right before the ceremony, some
of the bride's friends were trying to communicate with these
Greek women, asking them please move so that their topless
selves wouldn't be in the background of their friend's wedding photos.

Imagine you're trying to communicate and they don't speak English
and you're trying to tell them they can't be naked
behind the wedding.

I went to a wedding in Newport and it was
really fancy and extravagant, a little over the top, but
I had a really nice time. But I I was
reminded why I don't belong a Newport and I apparently
don't get out of the house enough because I weared
a glass of wine and the bartender said twenty eight
dollars and I looked.

to one hundred so it covers. Do you understand one

You're just covering the cost to the meal. They didn't

So we all came in off the weekend early this morning,
and I think all of us were talking about seeing
clips of the Ariana Grande concert tour, which is unbelievable.

that's the one that they posted.

Yeah, and what a voice, right, it's insane and she

No, a lot of different costume changes.

So we had an interesting contest for a couple of weeks,
and you had to finish the phrase. We would give
you half the phrase in the morning, and the v
bros in the afternoon would finish the phrase and then
call her twenty five. If they got the phrase and
made sense of it, they got tickets for Ariana Grande's
concert here in Boston.

And it's kind of a different concept, a different way
to do things. But I really thought it was fun
and judging on the participation, you know, the talkbacks and
the calls people trying to win, Yeah, people liked it.

And everybody who called in and got the tickets from
Boston qualified for the all expenses paid trip to Chicago
to see Auriana Grande. There, we pick up the hotel,

So it's great to set the scene of where we
are because I find Nantucket one of the most beautiful
places in the world. And all four of those writers
their novels are set on Nantucket, so that's really exciting.

And then it's a full day Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Every hour on the hour you can see a different author,
And as Lisa said, it's free, and it's just so exciting,
and there really isn't there's not a bad event. I mean,
even if you don't know the author, you're going to
walk in there and then walk out and say, wow,
I just I have to read everything they just wrote

they were such a great speaker. So that's kind of
what's exciting about the festival as well.

my way to a wedding at Boston Public Library right now.

My friend Julia is getting married today.

You all, Okay. When I first joined the show, Lisa,
we were talking kind of off the air and Billy
was going off about weddings and he goes, there's nothing
worse than a Friday wedding, and then he goes, actually,
you know what, it is, a long weekend holiday wedding.
Wedding on a long holiday weekend. I'm not going. And
in my head, I'm thinking I got married on a Friday.

Justin He wouldn't have been nice.

I know what, he would have gave me three times
a month exactly, gifts. So there you go. Anyway, the
topic time was like kind of extravagant, over the top weddings.
Speaker 12 (34:20):
I once flew all the way to an island in
Greece for a wedding which took place on a beach,
and it was super beautiful, but the beach itself was
a partially nude beach, so right before the ceremony, some
of the bride's friends were trying to communicate with these
Greek women, asking them please move so that their topless
selves wouldn't be in the background of their friend's wedding photos.

It's hilarious.

Imagine you're trying to communicate and they don't speak English
and you're trying to tell them they can't be naked
behind the wedding.
Speaker 6 (34:52):
I went to a wedding in Newport and it was
really fancy and extravagant, a little over the top, but
I had a really nice time. But I I was
reminded why I don't belong a Newport and I apparently
don't get out of the house enough because I weared
a glass of wine and the bartender said twenty eight
dollars and I looked.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
At my husband.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
I was like, oh no, no, I don't want the
whole bottle, just a glass. Looked at me and was like, yeah,
that's for the glass.

eight bars in Boston.

At a lot of places it is.

It's so expensive, you know. And speaking of money, you
know the discussion during that the topic time about what
do you give for a gift, like how much? Apparently
I'm a cheap Oh oh, he didn't know. I thought
it was two hundred couple. Now it's just what I thought.
Speaker 16 (35:37):
Okay, you guys have me worried.

My nephew is getting married this coming July.

I'm not going I sent a money gift to three

Don't do that thing where people think about you give
the gift that takes care of your meal.

No, that's not the rule. You just give what feels right,
but don't embarrass yourself. Well, this is what I was told.
I was told that typically a meal at a regular
wedding would be around fifty dollars, so you double that
to one hundred so it covers. Do you understand one
hundred per couple? Yeah, but then you're not giving them anything.
You're just covering the cost to the meal. They didn't

get anything from you. Stop being so much saying all right,
I'll up my up again.
