The hosts dive into the details of the leak, speaking with a wastewater treatment plant employee who's on the front lines of the crisis. But it's not all serious business - they also dish about the latest celebrity gossip, including Taylor Swift's upcoming wedding and Dave Portnoy's new book.

The hosts discuss the extreme heatwave hitting the area, with temperatures expected to soar to over 100 degrees on Thursday and Friday. They also talk to a wastewater treatment plant employee, Zeb, who shares the latest updates on the situation and explains the complexities of the leak. Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now this morning show in Boston, Billy and Lisa in
the morning. It's just a great start to my day
on Kids one Away.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Well, welcome in everybody. You know what it is. It's
a hot start to everybody's day. Are you kidding me, Lisa?
This high heat is incredible.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Yeah, we are on the verge of it. It's going
to be like ninety today, but then starting tomorrow through Saturday,
it's going to feel like it's over one hundred every
single day.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Oh boy, we could burst into flames. Awesome hot huh.
Oh man, it's so hot. It's going to be so hot.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Oh yeah, it's hot.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, Thursday and Friday at least one hundred degrees.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Friday is going to be the big one that might
break records.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Be very hot.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
That's when you want to go in the ocean.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Well it's funny you should say that, Lise. Yeah, well,
nothing's funny about this. Now there's a giant wastewater coming
out of Haverol and we're talking about tens of millions
of gallons of wastewater pouring into the mighty Merrimack River, eight.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
To ten million a day, gallons a day per day,
per day.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, where do you think that goes.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Well, it goes upstream.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, it goes everywhere.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Shellfish beds have been shut down for obvious reasons. I
wouldn't order a shrimp cocktail anytime. So oysters, oysters, no oyster, Rockefeller,
just all of that.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
And you know what's crazy is I sold my house
in Haveral, which was right on the mighty Merrimac. Wow,
right there, right across from the plant, right right across
from the wastewater plants.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
So it's made national news.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
It's huge news. My best friend Zeb, who you all knows,
for the wastewater department, he is on the job, has
been on the job, not every single day, and he's
calling in at six forty. It's going to break down
what happened, what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
So you're saying, we actually have a source inside the plan, a.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Man on the scene.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
If you follow Zeb on Instagram, he's you know, he's
a little a little social media guy.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
He's awesome.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
He's always posting video on the.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Job on the cardigan sweaters.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah yeah, Well he's in the he literally goes into them,
i know, into the poop pipes.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah what yeah, that's what he daily.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Yeah. So he's really on the job, right, Yeah, he goes.
He might go on a rent. We never know about.
Don't flush, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
So at six this morning, we have someone calling in
from inside the pipe.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Well, I don't know if he's currently in the pipe,
but he spends a lot of time in the pipe.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I have a couple of questions I won't ask.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Okay, you can ask him.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah, Well he's as close to an expert as we
can get, or anybody can get. We've got him.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
By the way, what a week for poop? Yeah, not
to be disgusting.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Noah con people are pooping, you know, at the seats
and his cons hurts and that's weird.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Well that was the big story yesterday.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Did I just say that?

Speaker 1 (03:06):
No, and it's a true story.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yeah, And I said it like it was a real story.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
You don't understand. We come in every day and there's
the big stories. Yesterday's big story was the Noah Khan
poop game. Today's big story is the flowing into the.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
And last week's story was people in diapers at Olivia
Rodrigo show.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, it's just it is going on out there.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
I don't know, but all getting aside, what's going on
in Haveral and up and down the Merrimac, in towns
like newberry Port, places like plum Island. It's serious business
because with this high heat, by the way, dangerous heat
all getting aside. People can't go to the beaches. The
beaches have been shut down and Ipswich and Newburyport.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
And imagine this was the week that you took off
for vacation. You wait all year, you know your family,
you want to go to the beach, and now.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
They can't go.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yeah, it's tough. By the way, if you are in
the midst of this, you live up there, affected by this,
leave a talk back.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, like right now, because a lot of people listening
are in fact affected by this in a very very
negative way. So this is a big story. Like Lisa said,
it went national, So that's going on. The World Cup
is still going on. It's the knockout round. That game,
that match yesterday between Germany and Paraguay. You were watching it, right.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I'm all in on the World Cup. Yeah, I was
watching the games here or there, but yesterday's game Paraguay
Germany was one of the most exciting games I've ever watched.
You were texting me, I couldn't believe they were knocking
each other down. I mean, it was dirty, it was vicious.
Went to a shootout, then to sudden death. Wow, Paraguay
with the upset.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
And Germany's never lost ever shootout never Wow.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Incredible.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
So Justin is texting me because he's watching this match,
which was unbelievable. And at that moment, I was in
the box at Fenway Park the Red Sox Nationals game.
The mush had already arrived at Fenway Park. And when
I tell you, I'm sitting there, the second pitch of

(05:08):
the game, a guy jacked a home run right out
of Fenway Park and I'm like, the MUSHes alive. But
the Red Sox got up bottom of the first inning.
They had two home runs back to back and four
runs in the first inning, and I'm like, yeah, here
we go.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yeah, even your mush nests couldn't stop the Red Sox
being on fire. Yeah, they're on fire, man.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
But I was in the broadcast booth.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Back in the broadcast.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
It went great. This is the first time they have
a pregame broadcast studio and this was the first time
we were in that. It's all the way, all the
way back and high up by the bleachers Way Park.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Wait a minute, you weren't on the regular game broadcast.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Actually I like this one better. You could actually spend
some time talking. Oh no, no, no, we chose the
pre game because of our schedules, clients arriving at the
park and everything. But I got to tell you what
happened when I left. So I leave, and it's late
for me. I got home, I think at about nine thirty,

(06:14):
and by the time I got into bed it was ten.
I think I fell asleep at ten fifteen. Here's where
it gets interesting. My alarm goes off. I'm in a
dead sleep, right. My alarm goes off, and I'm assuming, Oh,
I got to turn that off before I wake everybody up, right,
So I turn it off without looking, and I leave

(06:39):
the bedroom in the darkness, and I go in. I
turn on the shower, and my wife, Michelle, yells across
the upstairs. She said, Billy, what are you doing? I said,
what are you talking about? I'm getting in the shower.
She said, it's eleven o'clock at night. Was forty five

(07:02):
minutes into my sleep. And I got up and I
was ready to come in and go to work. I
have no idea why the alarm went off because I
looked at it. It wasn't set for that time.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
But you didn't notice the time.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
There was another power at work.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Okay, wow, it's like the second time in a couple
of weeks.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Ye beat that time the other.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Oh my god, I was asleep for a half hour.
She didn't get in your part.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Thank god, Michelle was awake. Think go back to bed.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
So what did you do? Yeah, you crawled back in bed.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yeah, sound asleep. Oh my, I got another four and
a half hours.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
You're doing too much, man, I know.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
I couldn't believe it now. This was either an alien
invasion and this is what they're doing little things. You're
starting off with little things. It's either an alien invasion
or there's something really wrong with me. I think it's
you know, and it's eating me from the inside now.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
No, I think you're just doing too much, too much.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
You're just you're like sokeda that like you're just like
you can't settle ever work.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
What are you doing today Brockton?

Speaker 2 (08:05):
I have to drive to Brockton to shoot Chevy commercials.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Yeah, and you were in the booth last night. Stay
out of that booth yesterday.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
The first inning was thirty five minutes. We're hanging with
the official burger of your Boston Red Sox. He swung
at the three oh it pops up to the third
baseman right along the line rock climbing, and the mad
Fisherman stopped by the kitchen to cook up some book and.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
The Red Sox with a giant squander and that's all
coming up.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Oh, you're gonna wrap this up. I'll wrap it up
when I'm ready. All right, how's that?

Speaker 4 (08:40):
You've done it all? Bill? Just take a break, you
know there's something going on.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
We read a vacation. Yeah, you just need a break
from the planet fitness Kiss one o eight Studios. We're
back with Billy and Lisa in the morning.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
So a couple of very real stories that we're dealing
with this morning, as are everybody who's listening. One is
the extreme heat. I mean this is serious business. Thursday
and Friday would probably be at least one hundred degrees
and the feels, like they say, could be one hundred
and eleven.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Right, and this is a big week for people on vacation.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Sure is it's hot? Huh, it's so hot right now?
And it's going to get even hotter. The other big story,
which has become a national concern is this wastewater leak
coming out of haverl and they're closing beaches, they're closing
shellfish beds, and what do you know. Our friend Zeb

(09:36):
works at the wastewater treatment plant and is on the
phone right now. This is amazing.

Speaker 5 (09:42):
Good morning Zeb, Good morning Billy. How are you good? Zeb?

Speaker 2 (09:46):
This is an interesting twist. Usually, you know, we have
you making us laugh and you're wearing like old cardigan sweaters.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
And at the nursing home.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
You're hilarious on Instagram. But you're doing God's work. But
things first, iseb the hell happened?

Speaker 5 (10:04):
So on Friday, we had that microburst rainfall come through.
I was actually watching what was I doing? I was
watching a show and I shut the show off. I'm like,
what is that noise? And I look out the window.
I couldn't see my neighbor's house. It was coming down
in literal sheets. And I looked at my phone. I'm like,

(10:25):
I'm going to get a call. Okay, Yeah, So I
got I got the call, and about two hours after
I got the call, we got the notice that the
plant was receiving no more flow, and that's the problem
went from when from millions of gallons to zero like

(10:49):
almost immediately. So they ran down to the pump station
where all the news has been reporting from with the sinkholes,
and they found the pipe had been compromised in one location.
We found the second location Saturday morning when we were
out there when we could see better what was going on?

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Help me understand? This is ZEBA. How does extremely heavy
rain cause an explosive leak at the plant?

Speaker 5 (11:18):
So the we are unsure we are this is? This
is they have We have engineers on site. They have
meetings this morning going through They are trying to figure
out everything. We are We don't know these This pipe
went in nineteen seventy seven and it should have lasted.

(11:39):
This pipe is not this is not a this is
not this is a no joke pipe.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
What's what's the light? What's the length of life on
these pipes?

Speaker 5 (11:49):
Between between fifty and one hundred years?

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Oh yeah, suppose it's been brief.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Yeah, but everything is anything is possible, Everything is breakable.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Now the wastewater is still as we speak, pouring out
of the plants.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Right, this is correct, But I do have good news
for everybody.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
The pumps, pumps have arrived.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Yeah, the I'm looking. I'm at the plant now, I
am looking at all the bypass pumping. It has it
went in the majority of his in. They are just
waiting to tie in the pump, the pumps to the pipes.
But I went by actually put on my Instagram story
this morning that the pumps are in. The pumps are here.

(12:36):
Those are backup pumps, pumps on Zeb.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
This doesn't affect people's water in their homes, right, like
running water and that kind of stuff.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
No, this will not. That is a completely separate thing.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Okay, it just doesn't.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
It just affects. It does affect the downstream, the swimming,
the recreational activity that happens as the merrimac, the beaches
of horse Like. It's it's terrible, Like this is nothing.
We're not taking this lightly. This is is serious, especially
now that natural eyes are on us and we're trying
to make all the right moves.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Now, zeb, I got to ask you now, as you're
witnessing all of this going on around you and at
the plant itself where you work, what exactly is your job?

Speaker 5 (13:24):
So I am actually I am not assisting in the
in the my past pumping or this at all. My
job is to I deal with the citizens. I react
to all the citizens calls, which.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
A public information Yeah, yeah, we we are.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
I was holding church in the street yesterday, people coming
out of the house. I'm explaining, and then more people
would come out and saying, what's going on with my sewer?
I got to back up on Friday night and then
all what's happening? Why does it smell? Why is why
we jumping? And I'm explaining, just like I'm explaining you,
we have limited information right now until until we can

(14:00):
stop the bleeding so to speak, with water jumping in
the river. We have that is priority one.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
So you're a public information officer so to speak.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
Yes, And if I have to assist with clog unclogging
someone's toilet, yes.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
I was going to ask him that next zem. Have
you ever been fully submerged in waste?

Speaker 5 (14:23):
I will tell you this, No, man, I don't know.
Don't lose respect. It's not It was on accident. But
I have spit corn out of my mouth.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
He did, all right, someone else's corn out of your mouth?

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Man.

Speaker 5 (14:46):
I I had a pump explode in and it sprayed
me top to bottom.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Kind of well, I love.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
So in your experience, like, when do you think the
beaches will be able to be safe and be reopened
for people for swimming.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
I I'm so that's where it's. It's trick. It's if
we can stop it. They would, I would, I would.
I would say they probably push it out a week.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
I mean, the Merrimack's moving pretty fast, but I really
don't know. That's that's just me.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
That's myation.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Even with the pumping, Zaby, the pumping they stopped the
leak this weekend, you think is a.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
No m oh, they're oh, they're planning on stopping the
pump starting the pumping today or tomorrow, and it could be.
I mean, they're constantly doing testing downstream a different municipalities.
They're they're doing their testing of the corn, so it

(15:52):
will of the corn, and they want to make sure
that you know, for their citizens and for their visitors
that the water is all right. I mean the oceans.
The oceans obviously take a lot of other things. They've
taken things for thousands of years and it's been fun.
But this is it will affect definitely the Merrimac and

(16:13):
anybody on the Merrimac.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Oh yeah, yeah, how's the smell over there? Zev does
it smell? Haven't been behavioral?

Speaker 5 (16:21):
It's bad? Yeah, yeah, especially with today We're yes, there's
a little bad as with the weather.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Coming and there are a lot of beautiful homes alone
the Merrimacks. So people, now, I'm dealing with the high heat,
the humidity which is record humidity, the flowing of waste
down the Merrimac, the shutting down of beaches, shutting down
of shell uh, the fish beds. This is serious business.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, It's not something we taken like this is.
This is why they told us not to talk to uh,
talk to the reporters in the street, because you know
they want.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
It's called the major market radio.

Speaker 5 (17:04):
You guys are friends, and I'm not hearing anything that.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
I don't want to make a big deal about it.
But we are the number one show.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Okay, yeah you want to be on this show? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (17:15):
The ratings are through the roof?

Speaker 4 (17:18):
What else you got?

Speaker 2 (17:19):
I thank you for sharing zeb all kidding aside, thank you,
thank you, thank you. It's what we do. Thanks.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Yeah, And you can follow zeb on Instagram at zeb
Days he kind of he kind of showcases what he
does for a living exactly.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
He does a lot of charity work, a lot. He's amazing.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Yeah, he goes to nursing homes and he spends time
with the people he gives them. Car's a great guy.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Great guy.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
Yeah, great guy.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Thanks zev Hey, thanks for that update on the wastewater
treatment up in Arill. Just a p s A.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
On the back of that, we are going to go
ahead and cancel Taco Tuesday tonight.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Good luck out there and happy four Billian.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Lisa Now the date with a Billy Consta on Kiss Away.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
So the Newark contest to continues. When you hear a
Noa Kan song on kiss you just send us a
talk back, okay, like this one right here.

Speaker 7 (18:13):
Hi, kiss. My name's Amy. I'm twenty and I have
a very simple request. I graduated college in two years.
I'm studying for the olsat right now, and the only
thing left on my to do list is seeing Noah
con live. So here's the deal. Either I get these tickets,
or I write my law school personal statement about how

(18:33):
Kiss Went Away personally crushed my dreams at twenty years old.
The judges will not be on your side.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
The choice is yours. I love that one. It's one
of my favorites. That that is a good one.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
That's a leader, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
And they're pouring in Eah.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
I got to a lawyer there.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
I call my lawyer, such a good lawyer. By tomorrow morning,
you're going to be working in Alashka dresh warm.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Which is basically what she said.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I can't promise anything, so justin I'm Starryana grand Day
is making some changes to her shows in Boston this month.
Her Wednesday show July twenty second is moving to the
twenty third. That's just one day. I don't know what
the big deal is need to Day. Her Friday show
July twenty fourth move to July twenty sixth. They're saying

(19:23):
it's last minute production problems.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Do we believe that, Well, it's happened.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
We were talking about Shakira, remember that her whole tour
was upended because of production issues.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
And because it's one day, she's just lucky that they
could move it.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
Yeah. I think the Friday to Sunday one kind of
may hurt some people, but yeah, you know, because Friday
night show versus a Sunday you know, what I thought.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Because we don't have tickets, I'm like, this is an opportunity.
Maybe a lot of tickets will now go on resale
because they can't make it, and now we can get
in on.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Somebody else's loss. Could be our treasure.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
That's right. But I don't go to Sunday shows, so
the tickets are all yours.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Okay, No I don't go.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
I'll make an exception. I'll go on Aday.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
So Dave Portnoy's book is out. It's today today and
featured at Least's book Club tomorrow night, Big Night, Love
bub Guz. Yeah, here he comes, and he had a
lot to say. Is he talking about public officees?

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Okay, so I don't think you guys know this, but
he tried to run for mayor of Boston way back
when Yes he got he got to like where you
have to have a certain number of signatures to even
be able to run, and he talks about it in
the book. But someone asked him the question yesterday, is
that in his future.

Speaker 8 (20:34):
Depending on what day you catch on me in Nantucket,
when I roll out of bed, I have an is
ocean view and it's like, why do I want to
ruin my life? And get involved in this mess because
I know what comes with it. But sometimes I do
feel like it's my duty. I can't I can't turn away.
I feel like I could make a change. Maybe I
do run in politics, So I don't know. It depends
on the day you catch me.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
Yeah. Nice.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Oh he has a forty two million dollars. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Well, it's like, you know, he lives a great life.
You take on the the political world, which.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Is like dismantles you your whole existence, your family's existence.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, and you have to think about that.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
He ran for Boston man.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Well, he tried to, but it's it's in the book
where you have to get a certain number of signatures,
and they hired this company and its kind of like
it kind of fell out.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Of Bad Morning and it never happened.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Anyone could be the mayor here, good morning.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
It's the mayor of the South.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Then yeah, right right, anyone?

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Now did he or did he not do the audio.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Book for Okay? So he is the voice of his
own book. But he posted this yesterday on PMT. He
has trouble reading.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Sometimes I'm not going to read it.

Speaker 9 (21:49):
Charged Uh, I'm not a guilt that makes sense. My
mother makes a spectacular.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Dessert and called towers.

Speaker 9 (22:06):
Stream has never been my forte nor is reading more
than double your equation.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
It was all hands, all deck both.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Do you believe that?

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah, So there you go. You don't have to know
how to read to have a book.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
He goes on to say he's not he's not diagnosed dyslexic,
but he does have trouble reading. He reached things backwards.
He may be dyslexic.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah, that sounded pretty severe.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Yeah, but who are you to talk?

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Bill?

Speaker 2 (22:37):
What?

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Who are you to talk?

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Chrits talking about eighty five percent lean ground beef, just
extra large shrimp, just six kids. You read one of
the same and I have a lot in comment.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
I'm telling you there's any similarities. It's Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
So Tomorrow Night, Big Night Live. Is this the biggest
book club ever?

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Well, I mean no, Robbins kind of put us on
the map. This is huge. It's going to be a
packed house.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Doors open at five point thirty, so I'm assuming that
the queue will be long and around the garden again
and if you.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Don't have a pass, you're not getting in right.

Speaker 10 (23:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
No, and Rosie and Rich from Real Housewives of Rhode
Island will be djaying the six to seven you know kind.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Of pre party where you pick up your book at
something to drink. It's kind of like the cocktail Hour exactly.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Well, they'll be on the microphone.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Yeah, all right, absolutely, were all locked in, Bob.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
Wow, what's her thing?

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Oh, slam slam Pig.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Yeah, slam Pigs, slam Pig.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
Summer will merch. I think she probably will. She has
t shirts.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Yeah, when you're coming to Lisa's book club tomorrow night,
remember that it is slam Pig.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
So that's right, Yeah, only here, and it's going to
be hot too.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
So later on the Taylor Travis wedding activity apparently is
ramping up outside Madison Square Garden. All kinds of vendors, equipment,
trucks pulling in and out. So it's all supposed to
happen this weekend, and I guess at this point we'll
just see.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
So some of the equipment of things being loaded had
signs that said garden party.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Right, garden party one. Yeah, so it's going to be
a garden. They're building a set, all right.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Isn't that a song guard James Taylor I think had
a song in the garden thinking about that I think so,
or at least he had that lyric in a song
garden party.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Yeah, let me hear this.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
When it got to the garden.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
Yeah, it's Ricky Nelson. I don't know who that is.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
You don't know who Ricky Nelson is. Yes, he died
tragically in a playing crash. It's a long story. They
It used to be a big TV show years ago,
the Nelsons, Yes, the Nelson brothers.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
And Tracy Nelson sister.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
She became a lifetime movie networkouts.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
Well, you can't please everyone, No.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
You can't ever. Meantime, Taylor and Travis had placed all
kinds of codes and identifiable marks on the wedding invites
so they can know if there's a leak and who
the leaker might be. What happened to no written invites
that Taylor was calling everybody personally? See what I mean?

(25:31):
The story changes everything.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
It's all speculation. Nobody knows.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
For all we know, they could be getting married in
MAJORCA or Nashville or Nashville. That's another one that's popping.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Up, that's footing around.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
God, I was so convinced. A couple of weekends ago
it was Rhode Island, Remember Friday, There was a tent.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
There were people, but she did have her bachelorette party.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
She did, but I thought the wedding was going to happen.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Yeah, did she break out the blow up swans?

Speaker 1 (25:58):
No, I didn't see any.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
That was a That was the Calvin Harris.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
She's not bringing out for Calvin Harris merchant.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
That was bad. That was a bad one. Like three
hours he walked out of a strip club. That was
a massage.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Yeah, well was the massage plus part he was he
was running around on those that didn't really last long man? Okay,
how about this? Will Farrell the latest model for Kim
kardashian Skims underwear line. In his new movie The Hawk,
about a pro golfer, he hits the golf course in

(26:34):
nothing but his skims underwear, and Kim Kardashian does the
play by play.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
His skims say one more round.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
Built.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Then he's still, I can tell you I like that.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Didn't I buy you? Guys wearing them? Hold on the box?

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Yeah, I have them. I wear them.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Yeah, they're very hopful. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Did I get a pair?

Speaker 1 (27:02):
You did?

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:03):
You were crying about it?

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Is there a reason we haven't ordered my skims from
men yet?

Speaker 1 (27:09):
For Christmas.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Story that weren't you going to buy me thong underwear
from Skims?

Speaker 2 (27:18):
In show story?

Speaker 4 (27:20):
Well history, but I didn't even know about Well, I
was trying to think about something cool to buy Lisa, Like,
what do you get Lisa Donovan?

Speaker 2 (27:25):
You know, buy her thong? Well?

Speaker 4 (27:27):
No, the Skims line came out and they were like
lingerie and they were hard to get and had an opportunity.
So I went to Ashley a jam and I said, Hey,
I'm going to buy these for Lisa, and she goes,
You're a creep. You're a married man. What are you doing?
You know better?

Speaker 2 (27:40):
I want my skims and apparently I got them. World
Cup action in the knockout rounds. Just and you were
watching the Germany Paraguay match which was going on in Foxblle.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
It was so good. I'm all in on the World Cup.
It was so exciting. They shoot out sudden death. Yeah, upset?
Do we have to call on that?

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Or was exciting?

Speaker 4 (28:00):
If you have been in this position for Paraguay.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Guys, you know it's interesting.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
I saw I was walking through Boston yesterday next to
the Hilton Hotel and they are about ten fan buses
and they were all boarding the Paraguay fans, and I
said to myself when I was walking through, I said,
they have the best fan army I've ever seen, other
than the Scots, you know, like, oh yeah, yeah, and
so I'm not surprised they want honestly, like amazing.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
I just love how they panned back and forth to
the fans of each each team. Yeah, you know, and
they're all dressed and going to kids.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Babies, babies. Yeah, crazy fun.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
Have I ever met anyone from Paraguay. I was thinking
about that.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Yeah, I've never. I said the same thing. I was
walking about looking at everyone. I was like, this is so.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Much jump questions in South America. I looked it up too. Yeah, well, yeah,
the fans are rabbit. I was watching German like news.
I saw Cliveland.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
I'm saying that Paraguay was no threat at all.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
That were thirds year team. So we never give up,
you know, we fight. We fight until we died.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
So Paraguay now will play the winner of France and
Sweden only one more match in fucking yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
By the way, USA beat Paraguay for that one, uh
huh easily.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Red Sox have won five games in a row. They
beat the Nationals out at Fenway Park last night. So
the mush is okay because I was in the building
and they won and I was rooting for them.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
The socks are on fire, they really are, which is
really good.

Speaker 6 (29:39):
Good morning, it's the mayor of the South End and
now the Red Sox win. This is number five, so
the kids are going to eat three and ninety nine.
And I want to remind people today you can get
your tickets on the Tall Ships ferry. They go on
seal today, so get your tickets early for the tall Ships.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
And soon you'll be saying Hello, Seila.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
And by the way, we're brought to you by the
ninety nine Restaurants. You can celebrate America's two hundred and
fiftieth at the ninety nine Restaurants where Yes, kids eight
free now through July sixteenth and with an adult purchase
adult entre purchase, great food, great fun, Happy Birthday, America.
Gotta love the Nines. There you go. Is there a

(30:25):
reason we haven't ordered my skims from men yet?

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Billy Lisa own money.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
So as I look across at Justin in his studio,
he is holding a sheet of paper that has a
list of songs that we probably don't even know the
meaning of right.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Justin Yeah. So this came from an off the air
conversation with a producer Riley and myself because I was,
for whatever reason, talking about the TLC song Waterfalls. She goes,
I love that song, and then I said, do you
know the meaning of it? And she was like, no,
it's a great song. And then I explained the real
meaning of it, which is it's about aids. The TLC
song water Really, I.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Did not know that.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
You did because I remember the video.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Yes, exactly, It's not about chasing waterfalls. Even though the
chorus is super catchy, The song's lyrics tackle issues such
as HIV, AIDS and the illegal drug trade, and producer
Riley was like blown away by it, you know. So
then I started thinking, what are some other songs that

(31:26):
you know when you were younger, you loved, you sang
along to, and then later on in life you discovered
the real meaning of And there's a bunch on here
that I think you, billy, you might be shocked at
some of these.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
Well here's the deal. You know, I never know the
lyrics to songs. I only know the melodies, So there's
a good chance I don't know any of those storylines.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
You know the song ninety nine Red Balloons. Yeah, don't
even know what that song's about.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
I don't, but I loved that song. It's not about
it's not about.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Ninety nine actual red balloons. No, it's an anti war
protest song. It's the story of an innocent release of
balloons that is mistaken for a nuclear attack on radar,
triggering a devastating chain reaction that ultimately destroys the world.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
WHOA, The song's so fun, right, that's so fun.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
So that's crazy, Nina Nina.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Yeah, that was one hit wonder.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Yeah, definitely, that was before my time, but I still
know the song all right. Next up in the list
here semi semi Charmed Life by Third Eye Blinde. This
one was shocking for me. I had already known this
this song right here. So the song's upbeat, nostalgic, radio
friendly nineties alt rock jams. Right, you know that song?

(32:45):
You love it?

Speaker 2 (32:45):
No?

Speaker 4 (32:47):
The dude dot dude in the song max masks the
terrifyingly dark subject matter, which is crystal meth addiction. Yeah,
the song's about the downward spiral of substance abuse and
the desperation of trying to maintain a semi charmed lifestyle
while hiding it.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Isn't it weird on these songs that nobody ever knew
the message.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Well, such an upbeat song, so bouncy.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Well the crystal method. That song is edited out on
the radio version, so you never hear it. That's probably
one reason why you would take.

Speaker 9 (33:26):
It right.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Whoa man?

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Oh boy, this one, Lisa, I know you know this one,
but this is a big one. Every breath you take,
by the police, this one.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
It's played at weddings all the time as like a romance.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
Romantic song played a wedding, Well not so much. Sting
wrote the song about surveillance, obsession and a possessive, controlling stalker.
The hell's he doing? Yeah, he's described the song as
very sinister and ugly, and he's always baffled that couples
chose its first dance. Oh can you say grieving man?

Speaker 2 (34:07):
I was shocking a cool guy.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
Oh yeah, absolutely. This next one is pretty shocking too.
We played this song on Kiss one to wait. Pumped
Up Kicks by Foster the People Bill.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Any idea are they talking about rebock pumps?

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Not so much? Not so much. It's about a troubled,
homicidal youth contemplating a school shooting.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Really yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
The band Foster the People wrote it to highlight the
rising crisis of teenage mental illness and gun violence. All
the other kids with the pumped up kicks you better run. Yeah,
not to bring the morning down or anything, but that's
the real meaning of the song so bad.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
I thought it was about the sneaker.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
There's been singing along on his boat. Honey, honey, I
love this song.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Turn it up, you know what.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
It's another one that's played a lot at weddings is
can't feel My Face by the Weekend, which has a
double meaning too.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
It's much more about substance.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
It's about drugs, right, I can't feel my face numb.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Right. It's not like just because of you. It's because
of yeah, the drugs.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 5 (35:24):
Yeah, we love it.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
It's another one. I thought it's a love song. I
can't even feel my face when I'm with you, all.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Right, Bill, this one, this one is going to shock you.
This is one of your favorite songs of all time.
Closing Time by Semi song another one Bill loves. So
this was the ultimate nineties anthem. For bars, turning the
lights off at two am, remember, yeah, closing time.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
Well, the song is actually inspired by the experience of
impending fatherhood and being pushed out of the womb and
into the work. What's crazy is when they when they
wrote these songs, they probably had no idea that they
were going to be you know, interpreted one way or
a different way than what they wrote.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
And it was the happiest moment in the movie. It
was the finale of Friends with Benefits of several movies. Yeah,
it was the big what do they call the dancing group,
the big you know, they just showed up in groups
dancing in public life.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
Oh flash flash flash mobs, yeah, flash mob, flash mob.

Speaker 5 (36:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
All right, one more here before we take your calls
and talkbacks on this. You know the song good Riddance,
Time of your Life, Green Days in the Enders, Right,
So the song is played at many high school graduations
and farewells. Well, it's actually a bitter, sarcastic breakup song,
good riddance, I hope you have the time of your life.

(36:59):
But it's played in happy settings, which is you know, funny.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
So I was the smart one, never paying attention to
the lyrics oh yeah, enjoy the song.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
There's Bill on his boat. Our phone number is eight
seven seven six eight. We just gave you a list
that shocked us. Do you have any others that should
be on the list.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Call us.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
We want to talk to you. Leave us a talk back.
Easy way to join the show on the iHeartRadio app
just tap that red microphone and well tap.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
In the song Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People.

Speaker 11 (37:31):
Oh my god, I.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Used to sing that song, jammed that song, and now
I'm like stick to my stomach.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Now it's Topic Time with Billy and Lisa in the morning.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Topic Time presented by catches a Law group the personal
injury experts. It catches law dot com. If you've been
injured on the job, any job, no fault of your own,
you can get a free consult at catch a law
dot com. So we're talking about songs that you never
realized the true meaning of the song. You didn't listen
closely enough, you didn't really know what that song was about.

(38:10):
And some of them were your favorite songs of all time.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
Yeah, like closing Time, which is one of Bill's Yeah,
you know that was the nineties anthem for bars closing
at two am, right, closing.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Time, closing time.

Speaker 4 (38:22):
All the song is actually about impending fatherhood and being
pushed out of the womb into the world. And there's
a ton of these songs that no one knew the
meaning to. You're young, you sing along great.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
But then when I was a kid, I loved the
song Earl.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
I think it is by the Dixie Chicks.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
And it is such a fun bob.

Speaker 5 (38:40):
Now we listening to it as an adult, I had
no clue it was about them literally murdering a man.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
Yeah, it's called it's actually called Goodbye Earl. Yeah they
care goodbye.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
Now.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
I shared with Billy that the macarena, Oh yeah, okay,
like classic song at weddings.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
And school parties.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
Wait, what's the meaning of that?

Speaker 3 (39:07):
The lyrics are about a woman cheating on her boyfriend
with his two best friends while he's being drafted into
the army.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
And they're dancing up a storm a wedding.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
It's going to be at the top of the list.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
I had no idea.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
Oh my god, that was.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Like the gym who knew? Wow, no way is that?
Because it's in Spanish, you didn't hear the understand the
lyrics right.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
When I was much younger.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
I thought this song I Want Candy meant candy, only
to come to find out later.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
What it really meant.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
Yeah, it doesn't. It's not about candy.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
No, oh oh, do you have the meaning there?

Speaker 4 (40:01):
So it's a metaphor for a highly desired person? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (40:07):
What?

Speaker 2 (40:07):
Okay, so it's not about twizzlers.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
I should do a mashup of Bill complaining about candy
with that song.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
That'd be funny.

Speaker 4 (40:18):
All right, we write that one down for later production.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
I used to listen to this song a pearl Necklace
buy zz Taut with my dad and sing my heart,
not realizing what it was about.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
Yeah, I think you could probably guess that one speaks
for itself. Write the title of the song your producer
Riley's face. She has no idea. It's what you think
it is. Well, we'll explain it later. Bill, don't explain
it to it. We'll explain it to you off the ink.

Speaker 12 (40:50):
This might be a hot take, but Chandelier by Sea
definitely is one of those songs that people just jam
out too like, probably don't actually really listen to the
lyrics of that song. It's a bang of hmm boy.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
Okay, I know the song.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
I love this song, I'm gonna swing from the chandelier.
What's she talking about?

Speaker 4 (41:18):
Justin Uh? Well, some of the other lyrics here are
I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down, won't
open my eyes, keep my glass full until morning light
because I'm holding just holding on for tonight.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
Oh boy?

Speaker 4 (41:28):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
Well, even Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso isn't about drinking coffee and
staying up all night. It's about like sexual obsession. What
mm hmm, okay, yeah, an infatuation.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
It's not about espresso. Bill no boy.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
All the time I'm walking up and down the streets
singing Espress song.

Speaker 6 (41:49):
I'm working lady because I'm a singer.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
Okay, Wow, that's surprised.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
Good morning, Morning crew.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
This is George from Walpole.

Speaker 11 (41:59):
These songs are really surprising that they have double meanings.
But well came to mind is the song follow Me
by Uncle Cracker.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
I thought it was a jam for the.

Speaker 11 (42:10):
Longest time, but I realized, or I came to learn
that it was actually about drugs.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
I knew loved that song.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
I did not know it was about drugs. I had
no idea. Yeah, it doesn't. It's a good song.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Sounds very comforting.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
I'll talk to you follow. It really does. Yeah, I
didn't know that either. I have to look at the lyrics.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (42:37):
Yeah, a lot of these songs that they're so up. Cracker, yeah,
uncle uncle Cracker. Yeah, he has another song that you
like to I have to look at that. One of
upis The.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
Little Red Corvette by Prince is not about a car.
Have a great day, everyone happy for.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
It's not. It's not what about Well it says it's
about a one night stand with a sexually confident, fast
living living woman. It uses heavy automotive double entendres. That's
why it's not actually about a Corvette.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
B Yeah, yeah, I remember that.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
Wow. It's the thrill and vulnerability of casual sex boy.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
All this time, all of this music, we were being fooled.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
And we're just singing it out loud.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
Oh yeah. And the people who really knew much have
been saying, can you believe he's singing that song?

Speaker 5 (43:34):
Wow.

Speaker 10 (43:35):
When I was engaged a million years ago to my
ex husband, we were trying to figure out a good
first dance song for our wedding and his choice was
Beautiful by James Blunt. Oh yeah, yeah, a song and
he listen to the lyrics and realize it's not about
getting the girl. Probably would have been a more appropriate
wedding song, but.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Yeah, no, it's about a guy high on drugs stalking
his ex girlfriend on the subway.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
