Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey friends, what's up? Justin here after show podcast. Thank
you so much for tuning in on a Monday. Today
is June twenty ninth, almost fourth of July weekend, almost
the Taylor wedding and almost vacation. I can feel it
it's coming, looking forward to it. But anyway, it was
a great weekend. I hope your weekend was great. We

(00:20):
had the big birthday vash on Saturday. That went great. Man.
There were very little issues. One issue I will get to,
but overall, a great birthday experience from my daughter. She's
so cute. Man. Oh, she's so cute. She's an angel.
She is just an angel. I love both my children,
but they're so different. You know, boys are so much

(00:40):
different than girls. You know, Ables, your typical boy. He's rambunctious,
you know, full of energy. Well, Jem is full of
energy too, but Ables like boy energy. Gemma is more.
I'll give you the perfect example. I had a boy first, right,
he's nine. Jem is turned four, and you know, with

(01:00):
boys it's different. I can raise my voice at him,
or you know, even yell at him sometimes. You know,
if he does something, it's like not an issue for
whatever reason. If I have to yell at him if
I get mad, which does happen. It's fine with her.
It's not like that. If I raise my voice even
a little bit, anybody, not just me, my wife too,

(01:21):
you raise your voice even a little bit. She gets
so emotional. It's the cutest thing. She does, this thing
where she starts to like sniffle, and it doesn't the
cry doesn't come quickly. It kind of builds. You can
see it start, and then the little lip comes right,
the little frown lip happens, and then she'll say, I

(01:42):
have allergies. That's what she says, I have allergies. Or
she'll say my feelings, my feelings, and then she like
loses it. So I have to be very careful. It's
not that she ever does anything wrong. It's not like
I'm yelling at her. But you know, if she's gonna,
you know, tries to pick something up, she's not supposed

(02:02):
To'm like, Jemma, no, you can't do that. I'm not yelling,
but I'll say it kind of, you know, in a
louder tone, and she just like loses it. But her
party was was was great, and shout out to my wife.
Put the whole thing together. And it's so funny because
it's the same thing that happens every single year. She
loves putting on these parties. It's literally her super Bowl,

(02:24):
and she gets crazy. She gets crazy, and then when
it's when it's party day, the craziness ramps up. Like
especially in the hours before the party starts, She's running around.
Everything has to be perfect. And then tip it's very
typical that I start getting annoyed because she gets so
crazy with it. So then I get annoyed, and so
then we start fighting and bickering back and forth, and

(02:47):
I'm like, you're ridiculous enough. If the party's great, we
don't need this, we don't need that. An example, we
now shud we have everything right. We have tables, we
have chairs, we have tents, we have wedding tests that
we own. Okay, talk about it's crazy. It's actually a
good idea because we do throw a lot of parties.
So instead of renting the tents, which I think we
did the first year, she was like, fuck this, I'm

(03:09):
just gonna buy the tents. So we have those. We
have the tables, we have the chairs, but for some
reason we were missing two chairs or I think it
was four chairs. Four chairs were gone. We couldn't find them.
So under the tent we had a bunch of round
tables and there was one table that didn't have any chairs.
So she said to me, I need you to go
to the store BJ's and buy four chairs. So I

(03:32):
look in the garage and I see there's like five
chairs in the garage, like folded up, but they were
different kind of chairs. They were still chairs, and I go,
why don't we just put those there? And she's like,
I can't. No, they don't match. I can't have four
like random chairs there. They have to match the other chairs.
So then I'm like, I say something back. Then she
starts bickering at me just go get the chairs, and

(03:53):
I'm like, you're a crazy person enough. And this happens
every single year. I don't know if this happen to
you with your you know, loved one husband wife. And
so I get my car and I angrily drive to
BJ's ready for this. I get all the way in
there realize I don't have a freaking BJ's card. She

(04:14):
has it, so I'm texting her like hey, I don't
have a BJ's card, not responding. So now I have
to angrily drive back to the house to get the
BJ's card. She ends up giving it to me and
I'd go all the way back at the chairs, but
I got him and she was happy. And you know what,
once the party started, everybody was having fun. We gave
each other a hug and a kiss and I was like,

(04:34):
fantastic job. And then we move on. That's just how
it goes. I guess that's that's how relationships work, right.
It's those those moments where she can't stand me, I
can't stand her, but it doesn't matter. I still love her,
We still love each other, and we just move on.
We don't let it like bleed into the next day
because we've done that. We've made that mistake many times.
I have made that mistake many times. She can let

(04:56):
stuff go, I can't. And it's just the way it goes.
So the party went went great, started, the Barbie Bucks
was there for the photo ops. The kids are everywhere.
We have this giant bouncy house with a water slide.
And here's where the issue comes in. Okay, so in

(05:17):
the neighborhood there now it's a four year old's birthday party.
So you know, this kid's rarely of all ages, but
mostly younger kids. It's a couple of older kids. So
Abel invited two of his friends, brothers from down the street,
good kids, to come. But by chance, they had an
older family member that was with them who was like fourteen.
So the party starts were probably like thirty minutes into

(05:40):
the party and I see this kid running around, this
fourteen year old kid. I said to my wife, who
is that? So she explained who he is? Fine, So
they're running around pool, bounty house. They're getting crazy in
the bouncy house, which was making me a little bit
nervous because they were using it like a royal rumble, right,
And then there was an issue with the pool, so
I had to go over there, and it was this

(06:01):
kid causing problems in the pool. So I said to him, dude, listen,
you're welcome here, have fun, but you know, this is
a four year old's birthday party, Like, we got to
reel this in. So then a little while goes by,
there's an issue in the bouncy house. There's a kid crying.
So I go over there. I'm like, who was it?
That kid? Again? And then there was another So there
was three three different instances and every time it was

(06:24):
this kid. Where the fuck did this kid come from? Like,
I was so annoyed, and my wife's telling me, she's like, no,
it's this person. I'm like, I know, but he wasn't
even invited and now he's here causing trouble. So then
finally I hear like a commotion and I see the
kid running across my yard with Abel crying, chasing him
with a ball it look like a baseball, threatening to

(06:47):
throw it at him. So I run up and Abel's crying.
He jump, He jumped off there and kicked me in
the back when I wasn't looking, and he's all emotional.
So I hadn't throw the kid out, So I told
the kid to beat it, you know. I'm like, I'm like,
it's embarrassing that you would come here at a four
year old's birthday party and cause all these problems. Please leave,
And so he left and that was really the only issue.

(07:09):
But the funny part about that story is you have
to picture I'm on my grill, so I'm the grill guy.
So it's a blackstone that if you have a flat
top or a blackstone, you know that when you're done
with it, you have to scrape it every time, then
you have to wipe it down. You have to grease
it for the next time, right, So I have a glove,
this like really heavy duty black glove. It looks like

(07:30):
a like a power glove from the old Nintendo days,
and I use that to wipe it down because it's
ton So when this all happened, I was in the
middle of doing that. So I had to run out
after this kid and my son with the glove on.
So I'm pointing my hand at the kid being you know, saying,
get out of here with the glo with the glove on.

(07:51):
And so I come walking back and my friends are like,
are you serious right now? You just kick that kid
out of your house with a power glove. So yeah,
that was one very very small thing. But other than that,
it went great, no other issues. The kids all had
a blast, and my daughter had a blast. She goes
to daycare and in her class, you know, she invited

(08:13):
a bunch of kids from her class, but none of
them could come because it was summertime and you know,
vacations and all that stuff. But her very best friend
is a girl named Edie. It's her best friend in school.
They've never had a playdate nothing. So when when the
invitations went out, Edie's mom you know, texted my wife
and said, oh, you know, we're not going to be around.
We have something somewhere to go, but it's not for idiots,

(08:35):
for something else. But I'm really like it for her
to be there. We're gonna see if you know, they
have a nanny, if the nanny could bring Eatie, which
she ended up doing and we didn't tell Gemma. So
you know, all of our friends are there and her
family and she's having fun and then here comes Eadie
with her nanny and it was so cool. Like I
posted a picture on my Instagram of them two in
the barbie box. They were just inseparable. It was the

(08:58):
cutest thing running around the park. They were doing everything together.
They were in the pool, they were in the bouncy house,
they were in the barbie car, just to besties on
her birthday. So it was great. It was great, and
then you know, the cleanup happened. We cleaned it all up.
My friends came back yesterday to take down all the
tents and now we move on to vacation Old Orchard

(09:21):
Beach this weekend. So it's a good time. Man, it's
a good time to be alive. I'm super grateful for everything,
for my life and my family. You know, I live
a really, really blessed life, and I know that and
I try to enjoy it as much as possible. You know.
There was a moment I was talking about this this weekend.

(09:42):
This happened probably like a month ago. My son had
baseball going on, and he had a practice and on
his baseball team there were kids that are like nine
years old and ten years old, like kids that were
almost eleven, you know, depending on when their birthday was.
So there were two kids on his team. Good good kids,
but they are old right there. I think they're almost
eleven years old. They are almost eleven years old, so

(10:05):
enables almost ten. So the practice was at his school
where they have a baseball diamond and they have a park.
So I'm in my car while he's practicing, watching and
so the practice ends and the kids are getting their
stuff and they're coming, you know, to get in their
cars to their parents or whatever. And these two kids,
the almost eleven year olds, who you know, two of
the best best players on the team. They come walking

(10:27):
up and they go to the dad's truck because the
dad's the coach, and they're just talking. They're just hanging
talking to each other, you know, talking about baseball or whatever.
And so I'm watching them and then my son comes
up and he's like, Dad, Dad, Dad, can I play
on the playground with with so and so? For like
ten minutes, I said sure, And so he goes on
the playground. He's jumping up and down the slide, and
I'm looking at him, and then I'm looking at the

(10:49):
two kids, and I haven't this thought in my head,
and I thought, man, why doesn't he be like those kids,
you know, like those kids are all about baseball, Like
they don't trying to go on the playground like little kids,
you know, they're just they're just hanging out talking. And
then I then I thought about it more and I
was like, what am I doing? Like why am I

(11:09):
trying to rob my son of his childhood? You know
what I mean? Like as he grows up, this will
be this goes so quick, you know, by next year,
he's not gonna want to play in the playground like
those kids. And I just felt like terrible. I was like,
what kind of a fucking terrible father am I?

Speaker 2 (11:23):
You?

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Know here I am shaming him for wanting to be
in the playground. Let him be a kid. And so
it was kind of that moment again where you think
about your kids are never going to be that age again.
You know, jem is never going to be four. And
I know a lot of parents listen to this and
you know this. I've heard this before. You know, I'm
not like just discovering this. I know this. But it's
moments like that where you really start to feel it,

(11:45):
you really start to feel how quick it goes right.
And so then I was happy. I was watching him,
you know, play on the playground and just be be
a kid. You know, just be a kid. So I
love to enjoy all these moments as much as my kids,
you know, drive me crazy for whatever reason, mostly my son.

(12:08):
It's these moments that, you know, make it all worth it.
So it was a great birthday party. And yeah, we
have three more days and then we're on vacation. We're
going to Old Orchard on Thursday, so we'll work Thursday
and then I'm headed up there. I have friends up there.
It's gonna be fantastic. We went last year and we're like,
we're gonna come again next fourth of July. Well, my
wife's birthday is July second, so that's Thursday, so we're

(12:29):
going Old Orchard. Then we're on vacation, and then she's
going to North Carolina to see her best friend the
weekend after that. So she's got some busy stuff coming up.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Okay, justin. You are so generous with your home, your yard,
you're pool. I am shocked that you're so crazy over
the hot tub. I've had my hot tub for twenty years.
I've never ever had it clothing, and I let whoever
wants to go in go in when they come to visit.

(13:00):
So maybe it's the type of hot tub you have.
I don't know, But loosen up a little, pal have
a good one.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Okay, thank you. Yeah, I'm a little crazy about the
hot tub. I think I explained this. You know, if
there are a few people, they go in the hot tub,
it's no big deal. I just don't want to have
a line of kids going in. It isn't just because
the water gets cloudy. It's also the tracking of dirt
and stuff like that into the hot tub. That's what
I don't want. So yeah, I don't know. I just

(13:30):
had a bad experience with it. So I just prefer
not to when there's like a whole crowd of kids
to have them go into the hot tub. But you know,
if there's three or four kids, they go in the
hot tub. I don't, like, I'm not a complete psycho
like that, but yeah, I don't know. I think. I
think also honestly, it's that once that hot tub goes,
I mean it's semi new, like I'm not getting another one.

(13:52):
Like you know how much money that thing was. You know,
I happen to have some money at that time for
whatever reason, and I was able to get it. But
there are a lot of money, man, and so I
have this fear of it breaking. And also when you
have to fix hot tubs, it costs a lot of money.
So you know that day is gonna come. So I
try to prevent that as much as possible. And you

(14:13):
hear stories like Lisa, you know what I mean, letting
all those kids in her hot tub and someone got
clogged into the drain. I'd just rather avoid that, you know.
So a few kids is fine, but not like a
line of kids. Like if I opened my hot tub
at that party, it would have been a wrap. There
were like thirty kids there. So let me ask you
a question to the talkbacker. If there were a party
with twenty of thirty kids, you would let them all

(14:35):
go into your hot tub. I don't know. That's crazy.
Kind of gives me anxiety, but that's just me. So anyway,
if you missed the show today, it was really really good.
We had Penny commit on from WBZ who was on
one of the duck boats that was towing the duck
boat that was towing the one that crashed over. We
had around at six forty this morning, really really compelling stuff.

(14:56):
Thank god, nobody was seriously well. Two people were seriously hurt,
but they're gonna be okay, thank god, nothing worse, you know.
And then the Noah contest. Noah contest. This thing is
just clogging up my talkbacks. It's insane, but I get it.
It's a big show, huge shows coming up next week.
So you're listening to this, if you're listening to this

(15:18):
podcast on the iHeart app, you wanna be listening to
Kiss Want to Wait as well, because when we play
in noakn song, you leave a talk back, and that's
how you'll win tickets. I don't know how the hell,
they're gonna pick the winners for this crazy, crazy crazy
there's literally thousands, Like they're gonna have to hire somebody
just to go through these talkbacks try to pick winners.
It's pretty nuts. So that's gonna be next week, but

(15:40):
we're not gonna be here. Well, actually I'll be back
from old the chit. I'm only going Thursday to Monday.
But I'm not going on the show because I don't
have tickets. I actually did not ask for tickets. I
just I would go if it was offered. But I
did go to the boss and say that Riley needed
to go because she's a huge fan and she doesn't
make a lot of money, and the boss agreed, so

(16:00):
she will be going. By the way, she's going to
one of the shows there. I just feel like, you know,
that position, what she does, she should be paid more,
but they eliminated that position, per se right, that position
that was there they got rid of, And so she
still doesn't make a lot of money and she does
a lot of work off behind the scenes. It's not

(16:23):
she'll talk once in a while when we need her to,
but it's the stuff that she helps me with, the
producing behind the scenes that is just so massive, and
I feel like if we can't pay her, then we
can do things like this. We can get her into
the Noah Kan Show. We can get her into five
Seconds of Summer where she can go backstage and in
if you interview them. These are like perks of the job,
which I feel like it isn't the same as money obviously,

(16:47):
but it's something that we can do for her to
kind of make things better. Do you understand what I mean?
So I went to the boss a while back and
I said, listen, I think we really really need to
get her into the show, you know, kind of as
a thank you for showing up every day and doing
what she does. And you know, you know, Billy takes
care of her and stuff, like she's okay. You know,
she's in a position where she lives with her parents. Still,

(17:08):
it's not like she's on her own and needs to
pay rent. So she's able to kind of work here
and live and survive. Thank shout out to her parents
while she kind of tries to make it. And who knows, man,
I don't know. It's a crazy business. You never know
when things are gonna change or things are gonna get
moved around. That stuff is always happening. So I always
tell her do what I do. What I did, keep

(17:31):
your head down, work hard. If something opens somewhere. You know,
you want them to say, I want her, I want Riley,
I want Justin. They're the perfect person for that position.
That's what you want. You don't want them to be
like I don't know, like they show up late, they
don't do their job, because that stuff don't fly. Man.
You know, if you don't do your job, that's like

(17:51):
a basic rule of life is you got to like
show up on time. You got to do your job.
And you know, if you do, maybe excel and do
it a little bit better, do extra go the extra mile,
because that stands out. That's one of my secrets, secrets
to success, if you will. So anyway, it's Monday, it's
a new week, a show week, and tomorrow another after show.

(18:12):
Of course that's what we do, all right. Bye,
