Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, let's do it. It's time for another Jays Juniors. Hi,
Tamera Camra, how are you at Jay Towers with Alison
and Chelsea? Wn I?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
S Oh Hi? Hi?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Hello, We're so happy to talk to you all.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Oh me too.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Let's talk a little bit for a minute here because
we have your application for Jays Juniors and we were
looking it over and I wanted you to tell us
a little bit about Damon.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Damon is a pretty special kid. He's one with fine abisita,
so he is completely dependent on a wheelchair to get around. Okay,
He's had three back surgery, three brain surgeries, and yes
he doesn't walk. He's pretty resilient. Even though he can't walk,
he's still a happy, go lucky kid. He just got
(00:45):
a new wheelchair, so you're pretty excited about that.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
And I know he has a brother, right.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yes, he has a six year old brother.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
How do they get along? Like brother? That's what I thought.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, they love each other most times. But then you know,
when Damon wants to watch his Star Wars or his
Black Panther or his Lion King, no one can tell
him otherwise.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Same with me, right, same exact way.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, Now I thought that this was really sad in
what you wrote about. You know, two of the very
most important people in his life were his grandma and grandpa.
His grandma especially in that you know, she was fighting
breast cancer, but they were going to go to Disney
and they were going to go see the storm Troopers together,
and I'm just so sorry that that never was able
(01:32):
to happen, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
She actually had surgery and then she was cancer free,
but only for a few months, and it came back
really aggressively. Her plan was she wanted to go on
Didney Cruise at least in December of last year, but
that's when she started to get really ill again. So
(01:54):
she told us it's okay, because next year, we'll just
go to Disney World instead. Because when we were kids,
of course, you know, when she was the mom, it
was a little bit tighter back then. She never could
afford to take us to Disney World. And Damon was
her whole world. Yeah, he was her first grandchild, and
you know, since he has so many challenges, she just
(02:15):
had a special bond with him, and she, you know,
she knows how much he loved Disney and she's like,
it's okay, We're gonna go see the Stormtroopers. He loves Stormtroopers.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
And did he have he had a special bond with
his grandfather as well.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yes, Damon King Seniors. So his grandmother that was my mother,
and his grandfather of course that was his dad's father.
So yes, it was a tragic that was more of
a sudden. We're not prepared for his death. He was sick,
but it was something that we were told, you know,
he'll be okay, and then all of a sudden, it
(02:50):
was just he took a turn. He had pulmonary hypertension
and he just declined after going into the hospital for treatment.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
So Damon really had a lot to deal with in
his nine years, his own health challenges, losing two of
the most important people in his life.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah. Yeah, and then it's so close together.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
It was hard as I look through some of the
things that you wrote here, the things that stick out
to me are these emotional things, these special things. And
then the nerd in me that everybody knows I am
is pretty excited to know that he owns a few
Star Wars encyclopedias. Yes he does.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
He's not much of a toy person, and I attribute
that to the autism right, he's not a big toy guy,
but he's always asked for Star Wars toys just so
he can have them. Yes, he doesn't play with them,
but he wants to look at them. And then for
his birthday, he acts for multiple encyclopedias.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Oh, for Star Wars, So he's involved in Star Wars.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yes, he's always wanted to be either Black Panther or
any type of Star Wars character. So he's been Darth Maul,
he's been Darth Vader, he's been a Stormtrooper.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Well, you know, if he likes to look at things
and not necessarily play with things, then there's this big,
gigantic Millennium fountains. We're on the same wavelength. So I'm
gonna say I wonder how Danon would feel about being
on the Millennium Falcon, which is surrounded by Stormtroopers every
time we go, because I love that. Well, I would
love for you to know that we're taking you to
(04:22):
Disney World the whole family for Jays Juniors this year.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. I might cry. Thank
you so much. He's going to be so happy.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
There's nothing quite like a Jay's Junior's vacation, and I
tell you that we stay at the contemporary hotel Park
Passes and our flight down on the Jay's Juniors jet
and you're spending money and your food and everything is
taken care of in the heart of it all. And
he's going to get the best Star Wars experience he's
ever had in his whole life. Probably yeah, the biggest ever.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
We've got to make sure he's gets to cough too.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Oh, dorm troopers are going to legit hassle him.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
There they are as they do, they do it. Thank
you so much, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
And you know we couldn't do it without our friends
at Jersey, Mike's Planet Fitness, Kroger Mascow, Canterbury Village, Imagine Theaters,
Glennlore Trail's Kinetic, the Village of Rochester Hills and our
charitable partner Angels of Hope. We're going to see you soon,
all right.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
You're so welcome. We'll talk soon, alrighty bye bye bye
bye
