and I c How are you?

Speaker 3 (00:12):
I'm good? How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
I'm good? I'm with Allison and Chelsea from the morning show. Hey, Joe, Hi,
can you talk him in it? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
I can. I have two little ones here at home
with me, but I can definitely talk about That's okay.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
That's all right. The good thing is we like kids
here talk So Emily, Am I right?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Am I right in saying Emily has a type of
childhood leukemia.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Right does?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
She had daily chemotherapy and and spinal injections every few months.
It sounds like a really kind of exhausting process she
goes through.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, we actually just started a news cycle yesterday, so
she had like that long it's like a seven hour
day's the hospital where she goes in for blood work,
sees your doctors, has a spinal tap. She gets like
chemo and her poor and the inner batics and her
poor and she takes like the daily chemo at home

(01:03):
every day.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
And so it's definitely a lot for her, And when
was she first diagnosed.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Emily was first diagnosed April of last year, so she's
been in treatment now for like a little over a
year and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
How do you find that out, Jody, Because you have
a normal four year old.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Everything'spying. The first three four.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Years, she was, you know, just like a healthy little
girl for the first like you know, a few years
of her life. And then it was actually just a
couple of weeks before her fourth birthday and she hadn't
really had too many sicknesses or anything, and that like
week leading up to her diagnosis, she had like consistently

(01:48):
like high fever, like it would get up to like
one O four, one o five, and we were like
just giving her like pyalale moutroom like around the clock.
Literally it was like studying my alarm in the middle
of the night to give her medicine. And like the
five days before we took her into the hospital, I
had taken her to urgent care twice and to the

(02:11):
pediatrician's office twice, and by like the fourth appointment, I
just like knew something was not right, like this is
not normal, And so we went to that like fourth
appointment at the pediatrician's office, and I requested for like
blood work to be done, like x rays. They just
wanted needed to figure out what was going on. They
were like, oh, you could like take her to the
er if you want, but you don't have to. And

(02:33):
so I decided I'm just going to start driving. We
lived like fifteen or twenty minutes away from my children's hospital,
and on my way down there, I got a call
from her pediatrician and she was like, we got her
blood work back. You need to take her to the er,
like right away. And she told me on the phone
her blood work is indicated of leukemia. And I was

(02:56):
just like it was really hard, like got us scenes
on colleges right away and by like the next day.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
At this age, how do you even explain what's going on?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
She had no idea, And like we're going into the
hospital and she's having to like you know, have oxygen
and like all this stuff. It's just scary for her.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
What are some things that brings Emily.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Joy her friends and her family, Like being around her friends,
playing with other little kids. She loves playing soccer and
riding her bike.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Does she get along with her brothers?

Speaker 3 (03:31):
She does, so she has a seven year old and
a two year old brother and the seven year old.
They're like very competitive with each other, but they also
get along really well. And her older brother will go
to the hospital for appointments. He will like write her
little like love notes to her, like, oh okay, it
will always be in my heart. It's just really sweet.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Wow, what a great family.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I think what would be great is if we take
you to Disney World for our jays Junior trip.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Do you think everybody would like that?

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, definitely. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I mean this is all expenses paid, which means that
you jump on the Jay's Junior's jet and we all
fly down and everything from hotel, the park, passes the
food to spending money, it's all taken care of.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
That would be like unbelievable. She like loves princesses too,
and that would be amazing.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
I think you can go to the castle and meet
the princesses. Yeah, it's like a thing that you can do. Yeah,
we're actually positive of that.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
You actually here with me right now because she was
not feeling well at school today, so I had to
go kick her up this morning.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Oh well, you're gonna you're gonna have some really good
news for Emily in a little while.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yeah, oh my gosh, I don't even know what to say,
but I'm just so thankful for everything you guys do.
I really want you guys to know that.
