Well, The searchs for Nancy Guthrie, the mom of Today's
show hosts Savannah Guthrie, ramped up again yesterday afternoon. I
saw this like the breaking news everywhere. There was a
Mexican volunteer group that received an anonymous tip claiming Nancy's remains.
We're buried in an unmarked grave near the US Mexico border.
(00:59):
So the group started searching this remote area near Noballis, Mexico,
where the tipster said that Nancy was buried. Searchers found
about twenty five unmarked graves in the area, which is crazy.
They found no signs though, of Nancy Guthrie. The Pima
County Sheriff's Department said it was aware of the tip
(01:19):
they had not been contacted by Mexican authorities about the search.
Official stress that the investigation remains active and they're going
to continue to follow any credible lead says they did.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
They keep playing with this family. Man, I'm telling this.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I feel like this is like the sixth or seventh
we just got.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
To if I'm that family, I'm assuming that somebody took her,
they abducted her, they killed her. She's in the middle
of the desert somewhere, and God forbid that you know
this happened to anybody else. Hopefully it doesn't ever happen
to anybody else.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
The long awaited four point seven billion dollars Gordy how
International Bridge was supposed to open for traffic today. There
was going to be this big ribbon cutting ceremony. Well
got the rigged.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
We're here at the Gordi how International Bridge, and while
traffic is unfortunately not moving across the bridge right now,
we were able to see some people moving some fish
out of the Detroit River. Oh it's it so Friday's
original ribbon cutting that was set to be the ceremonial
opening of the bridge. That's been postponed, as has next
(02:22):
week's proposed opening. The thing is, no one is really
being clear about why it got postponed. All we know
is the bridge has been mired in a long standing
beef between the US and Canada over a trade deal.
The Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority said the Canada and the
United States have agreed to delay the opening, taking the
necessary time to resolve any outstanding issues, while Windsor's Mayor
(02:44):
Drew Dilkins said, quote, we would all like the Gordion
Hi International Bridge to open, but Canada need not fall
on bent knee to make it happen fair enough. We
also tried to get a statement out of Governor Whitmer,
but unfortunately she wasn't biting either.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Listen, Michigan is ready. We are excited about getting this
bridge opened. We are ready to go.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Are you a little frustrated by the delays?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
No comments deal?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
I don't know, but it keeps making the owners of
the Ambassador Bridge that was Maddie Maroon. I believe it
family that that makes them more wealthy because they keep
being the only bridge that's open.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
By the way, that audio is courtesy of Channel four
here in Detroit. The visuals of the guys fishing under
the bridge are so good.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
You know what this is for me? This is when
you find out that they are building a Chick fil
A in your neighborhood and you have no idea when
it's going to open up and you're driving by.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
It's got to be done. Lastly, this story is out
of the Boston area, but it has gone national. The
Ipswich High school boys lacrosse team was forced to forfeit
its playoff run this week after several vis seniors participated
in a graduation tradition, a smoke and a cigar.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Actually they don't smoke, they just put them in their mouths.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, we already made.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
The decision after we lead all the events.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
It's all I've been doing for the last two days.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
This morning, a high school sports controversy. A lacrosse human
Massachusetts has been forced to forfeit the state's semi final game,
dashing their dreams of a state title. After this graduation,
photo surfaced appearing to show some of the players with
cigars in their mouths.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
It's tradition, everyone smokes a cigar, but we knew that
he couldn't smoke the tobacco.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
State athletic rules prohibit students from using tobacco. The school
district then handing out suspensions. But here's the controversy. The
players and parents say those were not actually cigars. A
coach digging through the trash to prove it, insisting the
cigars were fake, containing only camel meal and green tea leaves,
not tobacco. On police body camera video, an angry parent
(04:59):
confronting the school principle about the suspensions, I just.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Go smoke a stogy unless everything he's been doing with
doing this.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
I'm very disappointed to have to do this, but I'm
doing my job.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
How do you enforce the rules?
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I can't just look the other way.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
And we've got more evidence it says.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
They did it than not.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
You do you honestly believe that? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
The photograph you can't lie with the photograph.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
By the way, they did this at our kids high
school too, Like I think a lot of atom to it.
Where the boys get pictures taken with cigars in their mouth.
Parents give them the cigars. They're not smoking, they can't
smoke on school grounds, but they have the cigars in
their mouth. I think this is a school overreacting. What
is the problem. They said, you're not allowed to have
tobacco or use tobacco if you're on an athletic team
(05:46):
in high school.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
But if they didn't actually smoke them and they just weren't.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
But the possession of tobacco, I think is what they said. Okay,
But I think it's the superintendent that's getting all the
heat right now because the principal initially.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Was like, okay, the principal initial gave them the go ahead,
the green lights to take the photos. But hey, if
you miss anything from today's show, go back catch up
