Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay. Mojo in the morning show. If you have something
that you would like to talk about, or maybe you
have a little thing to add to our conversation, just
like you hear people all the time, call us up.
You can call 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. You can text 95500 and
text call me and we'll get you on. Or you

(00:20):
can go and watch our streams on Facebook, YouTube, TikTok.
You know, we're on all the different social platforms and
you can make a comment too on those. Shannon ran
into somebody yesterday. Where were you at school?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
I was at an event for Smith's school.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
You ran in and have you as a person ever
had it where you did not remember who the hell
this person was? It happened to Shannon. I want you
to tell us your story, but what happened? You guys,
I hate when this happens.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
So Wes and I go to this school event for
Smith last night.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
He's at a new school and, um.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
So I, this, as we're, we're walking out to our
car and we're parked like far, far, far. So we're
walking out the school doors and this adorable woman comes
up to me and she was like, oh my God, Shannon.
She's like running after me, Shannon, Shannon. And I'm like,
I turn around and I'm like, hi. And she's like,
oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
It's been so long. I cannot believe our kids go
to school together now. This is amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
And she's like, isn't it so crazy to think we
knew each other before we even had kids? What was
that like, you know, 14, 15 years ago? I am
looking at this woman going, I have no idea who
you are. And she is telling all these stories and
remember and remember and remember this person and this person.
And I'm still not placing her. She says her name,

(01:46):
but then she said her name. her new last name quickly.
And she said her old last name. And I'm like,
how do I know this, this girl? And Wes, the
whole time, his eyes, I can feel his eyes burning
into me because he knows I'm panicking that this woman
is having a conversation with me and I cannot place
her how I know her. And she was just so sweet.

(02:09):
And she's like, oh my gosh, I'm going to see what,
you know, all the school events now, blah, blah, blah.
let's stay in touch. And I'm thinking, I don't even
know how to stay in touch with you. Cause I
don't know who you are. So she goes to her car,
Wes and I get into our car and he's like.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Who is that?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
And I go, I have no clue. Even after she
said her name. Well, she said her name. So I'm like,
hold please. What's the first thing I do?

Speaker 4 (02:32):
I go to Instagram, but then I'm like, Oh, I
think she took, she gave me two, two last names.
So I'm like, she must've been married and then divorced.
So Facebook helps. So then I finally went to Facebook.
I saw we have mutual friends. So I texted one
of the mutual friends. I'm like, okay, you've known me
for a long time. You are friends with her on Facebook.
Please tell me how I know this person. And once

(02:54):
she explained it, I'm like, oh, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Is it something obvious or no?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
No, not really. But we did hang out several times.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
You did?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Way back in the day.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
And she just looked so different?

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Back in the day, like before I was even married
for the first time.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Or she was just something, because... You know, we see
so many people all the time.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
God, she looks so young. She's seriously so cute. But
I just didn't. I don't think I hung out with
her enough that I would go to Kroger and be like, oh, wait.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
I'm like you, by the way. I fake it until
I break it or whatever. But if somebody comes up
to me, I'm like, hey. I think.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
At one point in the conversation, right off the bat,
she was like, do you remember who I am?

Speaker 1 (03:35):
She could tell.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
And most of the time I'll say no. But in
this situation, I was like, yeah, of course. Which then
made it worse.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
You know what I do sometimes if I don't know
who the person is at all? I do exactly what
you did. But I say, hey, can I take a
picture with you? And let's get a picture or whatever.
And if you take the picture, sometimes you can actually
figure out who they are if you didn't ask their name. How?
By post. if you put it on Facebook, like you're
going to post it, sometimes it will, sometimes it will

(04:03):
show up to tag them.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Well, and all that being said, I'm so happy that
I ran into her and we reconnected because she is
doing like an amazing things with her life in like
the charity space that I cannot wait to get involved in.
But I was, I was having a damn heart attack
as it was happening.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I guess the nature of the job sometimes too, man.
You meet a lot of people, you run into a
lot of people. But this was not part of the
job though, was it?

Speaker 2 (04:31):
No, it had nothing to do with me. It was personal.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
And that's what, when she started naming people that I knew,
I was like, okay.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
I should know you. Yeah. I'm your sister. Oh my God.
I got Alzheimer's. What's going on here? Savannah, what's happening?
So I was curious, how far does one's memory go back? Like,
I can't even remember, like, second grade.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Like, people come up to me and they're like, oh,
my God, I know you from elementary school.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
And I'm like, I don't. See, I'm opposite of that.
I remember the people from way back when because that was, like,
great times in my life. Yes. It's the people I met, like.
Five years ago or six years, 10 years ago.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
It's fuzzy.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Yeah. Like I'm telling you, I, you hear me on
the show, Savannah, right? And I'll like throw out first
and last names of people I went to school with.
I can't tell you what their married names are. Like,
I have no clue what their married names are, but
I sure as hell. And remember what your name was
when we sat together and miss miles class in first grade. Yeah. Nope.
I can't even remember that far back.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
So when, you know, Tasha or whoever else comes up
to me and I'm like, I don't know who you are.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
You know, it's wild. And I don't get to experience
this because I grew up in Chicago. I didn't grow
up here, you know, here in Detroit area. And you
know this Shannon, cause you grew up here. It's wild.
If your kids go to school with your kids of
people that you went to school with, like my buddies,
like when I was back in Chicago, You know, like

(05:59):
a week ago, I was talking to some of my
friends that were at my brother's funeral. And they're like, yeah,
you know, so I saw him the other day. Where
did you see him? I saw him at the kids
basketball game. I'm like, your kids play. Like, isn't that wild?
Like when that happens?

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Well, it's so cool because so I grew up in
Grosse Ile, which is downriver. And there are a lot
of people that I graduated with that decided to stay
in Grosse Ile or move back to Grosse Ile to
start their families. So a lot of them, all their
kids go to school together and they go to the
same schools that we all went to.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
I'm not lying to you. I wish I could do that.
Like I love what I've done in my life. The
radio thing is crazy. But I often think to myself,
like what happens if I would have been, I don't know,
a CPA working in Orland Park, Illinois. You know what
I mean? And you go to this, like my buddy
Tom Barrett, he bought his mom and dad's house. He
lives in his mom and dad's house.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Did he really?

Speaker 1 (06:50):
It's wild. The wildest thing is, His wife doesn't let
him sleep in the master bedroom. He has to still
sleep in his kid's bedroom. Chris probably does, though. Chris,
could you imagine that, though? Not at all.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I don't think I would want to grow up in
the same house that I was in. I could understand
someone's comfortability and it's home, but no.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Shannon, Steve's on the phone with us right now. Steve
knows you really well. Oh, God, please don't even say no.
I know you're joking. No, not Shannon.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
No, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
I'm just kidding. Oh, okay. I'm just kidding.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Immediately I'm thinking of all, like, you know, everybody.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Yeah, yeah. Go ahead, Steve. What's the story you're going
to tell? Okay, so back when I was like 35,
this guy comes up to me. He's like, hey, is
your name Steve? And I'm like, yeah. He's like, you
used to stay on Alto. I'm like, yeah. That's when
I was in first grade. He's like, yeah, I remember
you used to come to my house and play. I
haven't seen this guy for like 20 years.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
And he still remembers me. Wow.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
You were a fun play date.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Isn't it wild? Yeah, it was crazy. It blew my mind.
There must be something, though. There's something about you, though. Like,
that's actually a compliment, Steve. It's not a compliment for him.
Or a memory. It was really bad. Yeah. That's pretty cool.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for the call.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Now that I think about it, when I was in
11th grade, there was this guy named, shout out to Tashif,
amazing muralist. So she and I went to DSA. He
was an art major. So we went to school ninth grade,
10th grade, 11th grade. And I think in 12th grade
is when I had this realization. I was talking to
my cousin, Brandy, who's caught up before. And I'm telling
her about this guy named Tashi. And she like, Tashi,
Tashi Turner. I'm like, yeah, that's his name. She was like, yeah,

(08:32):
because that's not a name a lot of people have.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
This boy was our next door neighbor. Like he lived
next door to my grandma and we used to play.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Oh my God. Like every day.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
And you didn't realize it.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Didn't even recognize him or realize him until she said it.
And then when I went to school and told.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Him, he was like, that was you. Oh my God.
It was the craziest thing in my life, bro. That's
the coolest. Grandma's like, that kid was a pain in
the ass.
