Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is the Slightly Messy Podcast. My name is Mike,
formerly from Mojo in the Morning. I'm still popping in
every now and then's still France, but now on the
B ninety three Morning Show and bringing on cast members
from the Mojo in the Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
And this is a special guest.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I'm very excited to talk to him because he's one
of the people that I worked with on the show
who I think had I been there longer and had
I lived over in the area, I think we would
have like we would have vibe a lot on the
show right now. From Mojo in the Morning, he is
been the host, the in game host of the Detroit
Pistons and the Spartans and now I'm Mojo in the

(00:36):
Morning as well. keV Irwin, how are we doing, sir?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
What up?

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Man? I don't even know if it feels weird hearing
you say formally, because I'll feel way every Friday at
least you do to throw back thrown offs. So it's
not even like it's formally anymore.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I know, it's like it's a unique thing because I
didn't know if that was going to continue or or
what the plan was with that, and and it's even
been brought up to like do topics still on the show,
And I don't know how that works with everything going
on or the behind the scenes stuff of that, but like, yeah,
I don't know. I don't know how to phrase it
anymore though, cause it's still pop in.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Let's sill. Say Hi, I'm like the neighbor.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
You still on the show, bro.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
So let me ask you this. You you started the show,
what do you have two?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Three years? Now?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Three years? Man, it's crazy, it's been that long.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
That's wild. What was the official start date? Do you know?
It was April? Right?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I think I came in April and I wasn't on
air yet. It was kind of like sitting in seeing
how the show flows, understanding what you guys actually did.
And I think it was May or even probably early
June was like my first like official day on air,
getting introduced and actually talking.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I think it was around the time my son was born,
which was like May twenty eight ish, so I think
it was around that week because I remember I remember
starting and then I remember taking off for that and
I remember the moment I knew like I'm gonna vibe
with this guy as I sent a picture of from
the hospital of me in a Jordan shirt with a

(02:11):
three finger like three pet and you were the only
person that caught that because it was my third child.
You were the only person that caught that immediately. And
I was like, okay, okay, yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
No if it was between myself and who's going to
show at the time, Megan kp.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I feel like if you had a sin like I
don't know, Alex Earl or something like that, all the
ladies would have got it. Like that's more so my
lane for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
So for those of you who don't know, the behind
the scenes stuff when keV started was different than I
had experienced with other shows because I'm not I wasn't
in the studio. I'm not in the studio. I'm in
Grand Rapids and they're all in Detroit, and so we
didn't know. And I heard this on a podcast. I
heard you talk about it, and I heard you ask
the question like, what was Mike and Meghan's experience when

(03:03):
you were just you were like they were in a
meeting one day and then all of a sudden, the
video pops up and it's you know, Kev's going to
join the show, and I and I thought that was interesting.
I couldn't answer that at the time because I was
just listening to a podcast, But what was what was that?
What was that moment like for you, Like did you
know you were gonna come into radio or is this
just one of those things that kind of came up,
came in like your life journey and you decided you
know what this is for me?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah? So I mean it's interesting because I'm a firm
believer that what's for you is for you. And I
also feel like we can have dreams, desires, and goals
in our lives and you can definitely aspire to achieve them.
But depending upon what your gifts are, like your God

(03:48):
giving gifts, it can take you in directions that maybe
you didn't even thought were possible. And for me, I've
always wanted to be an actor. Like if I had
to answer the question of what was your first dream
you want to become, it was always acting. Then through
acting I started to be on different platforms communicating. So

(04:09):
in middle school I used to give speeches a lot,
and that turned into plays, and then that turned and
one thing led to another. And I think just having
the gift of communication can put you in different rooms. Sure,
And I went to I don't know if you guys
have heard of it, but it was called Specs Howard.
It was like a broadcast and art school here. Yeah,
And I went there for television and ended up getting
a radio internship. And that was back in two thousand

(04:31):
and seven, two thousand and eight, and we had a
radio show here on job It's like a long answer
but radio station here fmnt WJLB, and we had a
legendary morning show with Coco Foolish and mister Chase. And
I used to intern for the morning show. But that
was kind of like my first you know, kind of
like I don't want to say forty or four a
or little time spent. Yeah, first time spent in radio,

(04:53):
and didn't really like have a thought of like being
in radio. I was just like a seventeen year old
kid having fun, chilling with the guests and working club
appearances and doing that. And then my radio time actually ended.
And then later later later in the year, fast forward
till now Tony Travado, who people here this show may recognize.

(05:16):
I met Tony, I met Mojo, and I think they
were bringing me in thinking I would just do like
some social stuff and maybe some on the street type
of stuff, but other things should happen with other cast
members on the show. Spot opened up, and I guess
the question was asked like, man, you know talked about
doing this one thing, are you interested in maybe doing another?

(05:37):
And I'm also a firm believer, like I'm not so
attached to my plans that and ignoring what God may
be doing. Sure, I was, you know, looking for something
more full time because I was doing the games and
all of that, and that opportunity came and I was like,
yeah for shure, Like you know, who am I to
say no? Like, let's see what this could become.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
And one of it.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
And I'm not saying this because you're right here, and
I'm not an ask kisser by any means, but one
of the best ads to the Mojo in the Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
And again I'm not saying this because you're right here.
I think it, uh.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I think you instantly jaeled with everybody, and I think that, uh.
I think that, you know, people have fallen in love
with you even in these last few years and it
has been three years, but it feels like you've been
there like forever, like it truly a great ad and yeah, of.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Course, of course.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
And I remember so from my end, we're in Grand
I mean Grand Rapids, and this is I'm not joking,
this is how it all played out. And I remember
my reaction to it, and I remember going back and
thinking about it, and I'm like, man, that wasn't the
greatest of reactions that I had, but like we were
just pulled into a meeting with they. They were like, hey,
kep's Jordan the show and we were like, oh, oh cool, cool,

(06:49):
that's awesome, that's that's great. But like there was no uh,
there was no sit down with us and and chatted
with it, but it was. It was the best thing
that's you know, that's happened. I remember talking to even
Megan about it when we did. I think there was
a party right after that and I came into town.
But in chatting with everybody, and I remember, Okay, so

(07:09):
fast forward a little bit. You start the show. You've
been on the show. I've been wanting to talk about
this forever, h And every time I come out and
see you guys were always in a big group. I
thought about calling you and chatting with you about it,
but I'm like, it's been so long, and I'm like,
this might be an interesting thing to bring up because
I don't know if you know this. Do you remember
when you started the show? There was I would get

(07:30):
like text and it was like Mike's being a dick
to keV, And I'm like, do you do you remember
getting those like from the to the studio.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
I don't remember you like through our text line like yes, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I don't. I don't remember listeners texting.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Okay, So I saw a text once that said that
and I screenshoted it and I think I said it
to you. And I was like, hey, man, if I
ever say because immediately when you got there, like I said,
I thought you had been there, like it felt like
you've been there for a while, and like, I'm a joker,
like I like the roast, I like to joke around.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
I like the clown.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
So that's immediately when you were there, I was like
making cracking jokes and I'm having fun. We're playing throwback
throw Down and we're you know, we're busting each other's
balls a little bit. And I started getting that and
I don't know if you know this, but I got
sat down a couple times. Uh, yeah bye bye by
people and told hey, man, I don't like you gotta
you gotta chill, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Like, what what is going on?

Speaker 1 (08:25):
So I hoped that in that time, first off, that
it didn't come off that way. But second did you
did you did it feel as though I was? Because
if it did, I apologize.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
No, I mean I don't I can't pinpoint like exact
moments if it felt that way. I mean, it always
felt like maybe it was like I don't know, a
healthy competition or but if it did, it never mattered
to meet up. And I remember we had a we
had a conversation after the after a show one time
where other people brought it up. And I don't know

(08:57):
if you remember what I said in that meeting, but
I was like, if it is or if it ain't,
it really don't move me any kind of way, because
I'm gonna show up and be me regardless.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Yeah, yeah, That's how I've been. You know. That's so
like maybe it did, maybe it didn't, but it didn't
matter enough for me to care. If that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yep, no, one hundred percent agree.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
So I never, like, I never really you know what
I mean, like stuff like that, don't really matter to me.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Agreed, agreed, And I I'm just the guy who's like,
who's like, all right, this is we had, we had
that moment, it happened. It you know, we move we
both moved forward. But I'm a big believer in like, like,
I'm a talker, right, I gotta I gotta talk about things,
and then when it's done, is done.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
We've moved past it. We've moved forward.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
But I never understood that and didn't like try to
argue it because like it was just it didn't make.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Sense to me.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
But I never got, like you a chance because again
I'm in the Grand Rapid studio. I never got a
chance to really talk to you about it outside of that.
So I'm glad to hear that it never got tooken
any kind of way or taken any kind of way,
and we've moved for award from it.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
And I mean, other people, you know, see things, and
you know I don't. I don't you know, they see
things I don't. I'm not saying that there was something there,
but maybe they saw something that I didn't, or maybe
since they know who you are, maybe they saw a
different side of you. And that's why they brought it up.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
That's what it was.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
That's what I don't know where they came from with it.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah, yeah, that's definitely what was said. And it made me.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
It made me dial back on the throwback throat down
a little because that's what I felt like. I was
just having fun. But maybe it came off the wrong way.
And I think what I cause I looked at it.
I internally looked at him like that's not me. If
that's how this is coming off, you know what I mean,
I gotta reflect a little. And so I looked at it,
and I'm like, I think it was just me joking around,
but I don't know you well enough I guess to

(10:45):
to maybe make some of those jokes, like maybe I
had to get to know you first, and it came
off as me being like competitive in like a non
healthy way, which I'm not about Like I like competition,
don't get me wrong, but like I wanted to make
you feel welcome at the end of the day, like
that's were just it was all clowning at the end
of the day. But like I said, it got brought up,
it was done, and I never had a chance to to,

(11:05):
like one on one get to a sit down and
talk to you about it, but also like get your
thoughts on it.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Well, I mean, yeah, I don't know it looks I
don't know if it was if it wasn't to throw
back throw down, because I don't know if you noticed, Mike,
I'm the raining three times shows O this that's what. Okay,
I don't know. I don't know how many jokes you
could have got out, kind.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Of like, hey, hey, if we're talking wins.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Though, if we're talking wins, you get the five hundred
dollars wid every day. But those cars, that's the super Bowl.
That's the super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
How many? How many? How many cars if you want
to so far?

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Okay, that's how.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
I got only got one. I only got one under
my bill.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
I know, you know what thought you know what.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
I don't know what it is. And I don't think
it's because I used to do like like a lot
of the scheduling here on the on the s SNX
year so it's the top forty station in Great Rapids,
and I used to like fix all the music and
adjust all that, or it's the DJ. I used to
dj too, and I haven't done either one of those things.
And I feel as though, like it may be where

(12:08):
I'm slacking a little, like I need to either pick
something up or whatever.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
But I've just been off like by a couple of
words too.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Yeah. Now, I mean, I honestly, I feel like if you,
if you weren't competing, it wouldn't even be a close competition.
I honestly like Shannon had been cooking.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
No, I don't know what. I don't know what's gotten
in the Shannon, But these past couple of years, she's
she's performed a lot better than when I initially started. Yeah,
but I feel like there are times where you're kind
of like my only competition. I'm like, man, if Mike
ain't here, this, this would have been wrapped up a
minute ago.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
You know who's like Loki very good is Lydia m
She and she like if she played, would she be
would she dominate every single time? She? Uh?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
I think it would be. She might honestly, because Lydia
knows a lot of pop and a lot of raps
on and the pop tracks is kind of where I
failed because I'm like, I ain't grow up really listening
to that. So I'm kind of like if it was
on MTV, jams and like the mid to late two thousands,
early twenty tens, then maybe I can get it. But

(13:11):
outside of that, that ain't really my forte. Yeah, Olydia,
she know rap and she know all that old pop stuff,
so she's coming from both worlds with it.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
You get me with her like a Vanessa Carlson type
of situation. That's where I go off.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
I can't And I don't know when you're putting this out,
but she playing tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
So oh is she really? I'll probably put it out today.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Her work cut out?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Okay, Okay, she.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Needs to get like a if she's gonna keep coming in,
she needs to get like a spot where she can
get her wins cause I think I think she would
compete pretty well.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
I just don't know if she has it's like the NBA,
like it's like a sixty five game minimum, like she
got it. I don't know if she could play that
many times to get a name.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
On the l So, speaking of the NBA, like I
mentioned earlier, Kevin the end game host, and I don't
know how much time you have here, dude, so if
you got to go, let me know.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
But with the playoffs coming up, are you that too.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Yeah. Yeah, every home game that we do. I'm blessed
to be up there. So as many home games as
we can get in the playoffs, man, I'll be at
every single one. So the first game is Sunday, April nineteenth,
I think, yeah, yeah, so that's the first first home game.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
You got them winning the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Yes, I think it'll be extremely difficult, depending upon who
comes out of the West. I think we're good in
the East for sure, and we have a winning record
against the top ten teams in the NBA, and you
know in general, and a lot of those top ten
teams are in the West. So like you beat the
Thunder a couple of times, the Spurs are the only
ones that give me trouble because Victor Winbiyonna is just

(14:43):
a freak. Like no matter what you do, no matter
how often you practice, no matter how many quote unquote
situations you can prepare for film, is different than seeing
somebody that's seven to five or like a ten foot
wings so big because there's only so many things that
you can do. Spurs giving me calls for pause. But

(15:05):
I like our shot with anybody, man.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we got to go. It's a
great team this year and is back. I don't know
Cayden full force yet or is he still kind of recovering.
Oh yeah, yeah, he's in full force.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
He was dealing with that. He was out for eleven
games and then I think the last four games of
the regular season he played at least twenty minutes. Yeah,
and performed well in all the games, getting his winning
back and getting his legs underneath him. So he should
be good to go for the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
I love that. Okay.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
So in game hosts for the Pistons, in game hosts
for the Spartans, co host of Mojo in the Morning,
what is the goal five years from now?

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Are you?

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Are you taking over something bigger at the Pistons and
at Mojo? Are you the Spartans? Are you doing something
else with the Spartans? I know you, you're a busy man.
He got a lot going on. But what's the goal? Bro?

Speaker 3 (15:56):
It's so interesting because five years ago, Oh, I wasn't
doing any of this, So it's it's hard to say,
you know, yeah, yeah, I know, I'm with you. It's
hard to kind of have like a you know, this
is what I will be doing. And it's interesting because
you know, with Mojo in the Morning Show and the
Pistons in particular, I feel like the guys that are
leading that Mojo here and then John Mason, who's the

(16:19):
public address announcer for the Trade Pistons, I feel like
they can go for as long as they want. Oh yeah,
teen years, they could go twenty more years, Like I don't.
I don't see any dip. And for one, their passion
and then for two their ability, and I, you know,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Man.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
I think here's one thing I will say that. I
think the reason why I've been able to do some
really cool things in my life is because, for one,
I know that it's not me, it's all God, and he,
the one that's commanded the ship, is hearing it. And
then two with one, I'm a person that serves their
season and I'm not a I am a person that

(16:57):
has like you know, asked like yes, I would I
would love to take over Mason or or you know,
winning if they decided to move on, like yes, I
would love to do that. But the only way you
get to tomorrow is by taking care of today. And
anything that I've done, I've you know, prayed and hopefully
have done my best at that and because I was

(17:18):
doing great at that moment, because I was serving my
season here, I was able to be given access to
tomorrow's blessing. So you know, who knows you know what
the future is? You know what I mean? You look
at you look at like like it. It's so interesting,
like how many jobs or jobs now that weren't jobs
ten years ago? So who knows? You know even what

(17:38):
a profession would be five years from now that maybe
we aren't even aware of exists today. And maybe that's
you know, something that I feel led to or feel
called to do. So yes, you know, with absolutely love
and appreciate and the door of those opportunities. But I
don't have no idea what I'm doing, none of us
making an impact though what I will say, I know
for a fact i'd be an amazing dad to my

(17:59):
son jose psych that had never changed. Yeah, if I'm alive,
that's the guarantee.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, and you are.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
I see your stuff on social man, and I've reached
out a couple of times and just say that I
loved it. You are an amazing dad and you speaking
of impact too. I do want to share this story
with you again I've always I don't know why I
didn't just text you it or just call or whatever.
I just don't see you face to face a lot.
But I've wanted to share this No, please, please, not
at all.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Couldn't.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Couldn't even if I wanted to, I couldn't. You're just
You're a good guy. I genuinely do like you, and
I wanted to share this story. This is one of
the reasons why I do like you outside of the
Jordans thing right away, like I knew you met my
daughter once and I don't know that you know this yet,
but it was an impactful moment where we were sitting
down and she wanted to I think she was making
bracelets for the Taylor Swift concert and she wanted to

(18:47):
just make you one. And you were like, no, no,
I'll give you some money for it. And she's like, no, no,
I just do it for free. And she's that You
were like no, no, like something about like no, you're
worth like you know, I'll pay you. I would then,
and I'm not I'm not joking at all. She's wanted
to start a business and she's talked.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
About that's so dope. Bro.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Yeah, she's wanted to start a business, and it is
all because of like little moments like that that really
stuck with her.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
And so I appreciate that, man, I truly do.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Especially is A is an amazing young lady, bro, and
she she's wise beyond her years, the way that uh,
you know, she thinks, the way that she speaks, and
in the brief moments that I've had a chance to
be around her and get to know her. She's got
a huge heart too. I mean, like she maybe that

(19:35):
comes from being a big sister, you know what I mean,
But like she has people thank you. She's very caring, bro.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
So set out to you and Allie Man, thank you,
thank you.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
I appreciate you, and uh, I appreciate you joining the podcast.
One final question. I know you've got stuff to do.
I know you got to bust people putting uh putting
deer hides in the trash can?

Speaker 2 (19:56):
What the hell was that?

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Look? And I don't even though like people, I think
one of the questions I get the most is like
like literally, what was that?

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Like?

Speaker 3 (20:06):
What animal that is? I have no idea, But in
Eastern market that people are listening, they don't know there's
a there's a lot of like, I don't know, butcher
shops are the right way to say it, But there's
a lot of like I think, yeah, yeah, I get
brought in in the morning and you know, they get
cut up and that's what we eat. But the disposal

(20:26):
of these animals is what's in question. And almost every
single day there we have a huge window. So our
vantage point is in what I believe is the rear
of one of these shops. And you see this truck
back up to these large lime green trash cans and
they flip off on top of the black lid and
they just start throwing out, like literally chucking, chucking the

(20:50):
skins of whatever these animals are that they've killed. And
sometimes they do a good job of closing the lid.
Other times they don't. And I caught it on one
where they literally had one of the we'll say deer
hides hanging on the top of the trash can lid,
almost like American flag waving in the wind, and it

(21:13):
went out of control. The news gathered it. And I
won't say that it's stopped.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Really, I will say that we don't. We don't see
it as off that I'll say that they just.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Got sneakier about it. They did.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
If you haven't, it was one day they went absolutely
crazy after the news had hit that I thought they
were giving like a big fuck you to everybody. Uh huh,
because I drove by the front of the building, which
I rarely do, and they haven't stacked like outside, like
stacked on actual pallet. You see the flies around, you
can smell it. It was. It was great crazy.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
If you haven't seen the video at keV Knows on Instagram,
it is there. You should start a segment. And I
wasn't joking when I said this. You should start a
segment like were you They used to have it and
I think it was like help me, hank or whatever
where you just you just bust people doing stuff like
that in the city.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
It's like, and that was a random thing. The craziest
thing is I posted that before, and I don't know
if it's just that I posted on my story or
you know, you can't guess when things go viral, man,
something about that day that time that people were paying
attention man, and it went crazy. But yeah, if you
got any tips, man, hit me up at keV No,
I'll be on that.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
I just imagined you too, with like a trench coat,
with like a big like a like a sixty detective
type vibe.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
I got that trench called all right now. You know,
the weather going crazy, so I got it all right now.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Thanks keV. Appreciate you coming on. Man. I appreciate you
taking the time and we'll talk to.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
That right, no doubt. Man, have a blessed day. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (22:49):

Betrayal Season 5

Saskia Inwood woke up one morning, knowing her life would never be the same. The night before, she learned the unimaginable – that the husband she knew in the light of day was a different person after dark. This season unpacks Saskia’s discovery of her husband’s secret life and her fight to bring him to justice. Along the way, we expose a crime that is just coming to light. This is also a story about the myth of the “perfect victim:” who gets believed, who gets doubted, and why. We follow Saskia as she works to reclaim her body, her voice, and her life.
