Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio. Yes it is March
the twenty eighth, twenty twenty five. It's Friday. Thank god
it's Friday, because I didn't get any sleep on Thursday.
That's all there is to it. These games have been fantastic, period,
point blank. But I was up late last night, especially
(00:25):
for me. I'm old. But welcome back to the show.
Phone numbers five zero, two, five seven, one, seventy nine hundred.
We've got a lot to get to, of course, first
and foremost, we've got to bring on. I know Anthony's here,
George is his agent is talking to my agent. I
don't have one. He doesn't have one, but he'll be
on soon. But Shannon preestably bring Anthony to the show.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
So I'm already here.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I'm I've been waiting. And the reason why I say
I've been waiting because we all know the greatest team
in country is going to the Elite eight.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Put you in. This duke stuff drive me crazy. Honestly,
I was in.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
When they If they lose, I won't say another word.
But until then, I'm gonna talk about it every solitary day.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Solid team Anthony, solid young team. They're really good. Cooper.
Flag's really good, Anthony, he really is. So, I mean,
he's really good. Can Nipple is really good. I mean
the entire team, they're good. But we got a lot
to get too. Soon. George will be calling in Channon,
just let me know. But the phone numbers five zero, two,
five seven, one, seventy nine hundred. It's Sports Talk seven
(01:37):
ninety k r D got shatted behind the glass to
take your calls. Anthony, You've got a lot to get
to today. We'll get there in a second, but I
want to start with this. I got the best sponsors
in the world. Don't ever try to edit me at all.
My commentary is my commentary. But the Oriol's Pizza and
Pub you all know three ten Wallace Avenue and Baxter
(01:59):
nine one nine box and right out here in Prospect
around the corner from myself on River Road probably like
I said, not a foot wedge, but a driver from
River Road and US forty two is the thirdy Orioles.
They're in the final four. Well now March Maddin is
entering round three. So I want people to know. I
(02:19):
put it on my ex account where you can go
in and to vote. Anthony, did you get a chance
to look at that. I don't know how to tell
you all. I put it on my ex so you
know where to vote. But they've got a pizza challenge
and the Oriels is the very best, so I wanted
to make sure I got that out up front. It
is posted on my ex account. But is there anything
(02:41):
you can tell them, Anthony, more than I told them
the real details about to vote.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
The best thing I can tell him, obviously is quota ban.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
We got to bring on that other guy. He's I
guess his agent is finished with my agent chanting to
bring on that other guy. His name's George Williams. He's
not part of the ring you family. They disappiled himself. George,
welcome to the show. How are you now? You're independent?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I don't know why you hate counseer sound better better
than the brand you want to hate on me?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Wow, George, Independent George Couch.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Is smoother one. Now, don't hate counsel smoothing. Bring you
to be reading.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
You, George? How about independent? Independent George Williams? I like that.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
No, I wouldn't like anything against what I say.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
How you doing, George? You had a good week?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yes, sir? How about you my brother, excellent man, excellent week.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
So George Anthony's telling people how because we do not know.
I wouldn't have George knowing myself, and they slap on George.
They have to go online and vote for the Orioles.
I want people to do that, but I would know
how to tell him how to do it, George, if
my life depended on it. It just is what it is.
So describe to people and help George and out how
(04:03):
they can vote for the Orioles.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
For then.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
It is George, it is yep.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
So that's the way obviously for those if you're if
you're struggling to find it, it is on the Courier
Journals link. It's under the peak. It's pizza Mattics that
they have going on. You can always go to my
Dad's too account apps. The link is already on there.
It will take you straight to the page where you
can go down and vote. It's gonna have a couple,
it's gonna have Bianos Pizza on there, and it's gonna
have Deorols Pizza on there for their matchup that they
have going on. It lets you vote up to eight
(04:30):
times a day if you scroll all the way to
the bottom of that page. On the link that you
click on on Twitter, you can go down to it
says match up thirteen to Euros versus Beanos and you
can vote for either team, for.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Either of pizza team Burials. There is no other. There
is no other.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, if you go there and vote Buranos Pizza, you
will be banned from this radio show. You call it
that I vote for Baranos or hanging up immediately, don't
call back.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Don't it. So there you go, George, he's your son.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Got it, honest, you got it.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
George's so bad.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I get tweets like this good morning because there's no
school today. I finally get to hear your show. No,
you could put in ear pods. There's five ways to
do it. I don't care if you're working. That's a
police officer, I know, George, that's all so anyway.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Tell him what other way they can hear you show?
Jack Well, George.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yes, they can go back in and listen to it
after Shannon logs it in on iHeart media, or you
can do it. You can put in your your ear
pods and you can listen to it that way. There's
a lot of ways to listen to but he is working, George,
He's taking care of kids, so I don't want to
interrupt him truly during that school morning when he's trying
to make sure kids get across get to school correctly.
(05:52):
So I'm gonna leave the police officer alone, George this time.
You know that we do, George, we do support the Blue.
That's just we do. And that's all this to it.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
You're so Jerry.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
It was not a doubt without a doubt. So great.
I'm glad that he's sitting in with us. And there's
a lot George, Anthony. Okay, George, we're gonna let you.
Since you know you're an independent now, I won't let
you be reading you.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
We're gonna let you. Where do you want to George?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Here, here's where we start. Well, this is one thing.
We will get Greg galliat back on, George, you and
Anthony have to come out with me. I went to
numerous games. I said, high home plate for the Louisville Bats.
We will be getting Greg galliad on and the next
two or three days of course, to talk about the
Louisville Bats and what's going on with them this year.
A lot of great things, new ownership, new buildings, everything's
(06:43):
going up around there, so we'll get him on. We
know major League Baseball started, But George, where do you
want to start? We had high school Sweet sixteen and
he's ready NCAA tournament. Anthony's ready to give all the scores.
Where do you want to start?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
And we'll let any Let's what's the most hottest thing
going late?
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Er?
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Uh, let's do high school. We'll get off this.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Let's do. Yeah, we will. We'll never tell you. Yeah,
that's true, Anthony, give us a rundown. What happened in
the Sweet sixteen?
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, so high school.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Obviously, we already got our matchup set up for the
Elite eight, so we got some good matchups here. Obviously,
the first game we do have that will be going
on will have Ashly and Blazer taken on Bowling Green.
Then we did have South Oldham to beat Danville Christian,
so southuld will be taken on jay Town. For that
sixth and eighth reason, game Jaytown did defeat Sat. Xavier
yesterday probably won't be the biggest upsets of the season. I say,
(07:34):
probably want the biggest upset of the tournament so far,
and I say upset. Jay Town was a good team.
I'm really not really that upset that they beat St.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Xavier.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I think they had a lot of potential. Obviously, they
had Cameron McDaniels, who's a great talent that they got
back from Huntington Preps. Would give him some more depth,
a little more versatility. And I've seen Say Xavier play
multiple times this year. I think they're a good team.
And I am not knocking saying Zaber. I think they
have amazing time. I think Jared Mana Jackson's done a
great job there. He still got one more year. I
just felt like there was just one thing missing from
(08:06):
that team. I couldn't figure out what it was like
there's just one piece.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
I agree. Yeah, what do you think, Georgie? I saw
him and and I saw him. I saw him three
times this year, and there was something missing. What about you, George?
What'd you think Santy Zavier went down to Jay Town?
Did that surprise you first round at the state tournament?
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Well, you know, I know mister Duncan really well. I
think he's an outstanding coach. Yeah yeah, I think he
does a great job with his team there. I just
thought that tat X was a little short. You know
what I mean I thought the size wise, you know,
like you said you don't like small guards, and next
had three of them saying I didn't think they had
a great presence in the middle, you know what I mean.
I thought everything like don't don't get me.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
I'm with you, George, Yes, no, I agree, And they
did not have a shot blocker. They had size, but
they didn't play large interior, and I heard they were
a little soft for some reason. Richard dunk And has
done a great job at Jaytown. We got to get
him on, George. I'm gonna reach out to him next week. Well,
definitely I can do that for you. I can do
that for you, George for money, do that for me because.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I love I definitely will get that done.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Okay, finished with what's going on in today's games? Well
who else plays Anthony? So we can get that sweet sixteen?
Speaker 2 (09:20):
But befure you go, I want to get atne in
your opinion on this year. You know, it seems like
every time good Jeffson County schools go to the state
that they always mess. Now I can understand one or
two times, but seemed like every year they got the
first second round, they don't give him a chance to
get to the quarterfinals, got a final. You don't buy
the draws, and I know you can't draw every year
(09:41):
to Justin County plays each other like it can't be
in the bag. Like if you can't tell me your
drawer that.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
It's Churchard Downs, George, that's what trainers say. How do
I get this slot? George, I don't know. I've asked
people I've had I need someone to research that for me.
I just haven't had the time. I've ask throughout the
last three weeks numerous times. I don't know, George. How
again we're gonna have jay Town playing south Old again.
And like Anthony said yesterday, south A's Justin County School.
(10:11):
I mean, we know it's Oldham County, but it's just
right up the street for me. So George, I agree
with you. I don't know, George. I'm gonna have to
have someone find out, or I'm gonna have to find out. Now,
listen to this, guys, Andy, do you know before we
move on, Georgia as do you know about the drawings? No?
Speaker 3 (10:29):
No, I thought you'd know more information.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Than I don't. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
It's it's not becoming a coincidence as much. Now, when
I played, we played, we didn't play. I will say
that my year we didn't play any team, so that
my senior year we played, Oh my god, I know
we played. We played Boyle County and we played the
boy County in the LEI and the first game before
that we played another like far the team like a
county school. So we didn't play any of the other
(10:59):
six or eighth region teams in my first two rounds.
But it seems like every year after that, the sixth
and seventh region playing the first game, but always plays
the eighth region team. So it's like the all the
Jefferson County schools have been playing within the first two
rounds of the tournament, which it takes way because I
think those are the stronger teams.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
I mean, no.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Offense to the county schools. I'm not gonna sit here
and knock them, because some of them do have good players.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
You know, you got those.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Reed Shepherds and Travis out there. They got real skills.
But overall, I'm not knocking county schools. Aren't they're not competing.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
With they don't want to come through.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
The six seven region, seventh Region devinth region alone is
beating county schools by thirty average on the night.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
George, do you remember, Anthony, George? You remember though, when Thomas,
Jefferson and Seneca both almost reached the finals, Glasgow beat
them both. Jerry Dunn sixty eight? Was it, George sixty nine?
One of those years it almost happened to where the
six and seven region played in the championship. But I
don't know if any other time, George, do you that
they got close?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
And the only thing I said about it a lot
of people said they did was couse they didn't want
the sixth lowder to win every year. But Jered, there
are always some great county schools out there they can play,
But I think that they should be a fairness for
every team to play and get a chance, because it's
a great honor for any school in any region, in
any county. But it seemed like in the last some
(12:21):
years that you know, Jefferson County schools that they get
that only one can get that because of the matchupt.
I just can't understand it. And for it to be fair.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Play, I agree, Georgie, and we're gonna give the high
schools their fair air.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Time.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
I really enjoy the high school coaches have gotten to
know them. They come on the show, We get to
know the players, just like Jackson and George. Anthony. Y'all
are gonna hate this. George, you're gonna hate it. Anthony says,
it's what should happen. But we both say, no, someone
just sent me this rumor has it that Jackson, Jeron
Jackson is not coming back to x and it's gonna
go to a prep school next year. Jeremiah come back
(12:57):
to Saint Xavier's son. I don't have to do that,
I know, but George and I don't like it. George,
I really okay, Anthony. Prime example, the young man who
left Jaytown George this year the beginning of the year,
came back and now they're going on moving on in
this into the state tournament. But he had to come back.
It didn't work out for him, Anthony. It doesn't work
(13:17):
out for all of them. It doesn't work out for
most of them. Yeah, Raison, Rondo and and Russell, Yeah, Ork,
but not most. George gets swallowed up.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Wait, fishing the pine? Why you want to move to
go to the ocean and fight the whale?
Speaker 1 (13:35):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (13:35):
I mean, especially with the nil money. To me, it's
to your advantace to stay your school. Would be the
greatest player you could have a B score the most
points you could be. It seems like it's a benefit
for your nil deal exactly.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
I mean, Andy, you always said they evaluated talk through
the summer. So Anthony, if they're evaluated through this summer
and this AAU is so important, and it is, then
why can't they play their high school teams. They get
to see them all in AAU. With all these super teams.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
They're getting, they're getting more, they're getting more publicity at
the prep schools in AU. And it's not even course.
If you look at my bird IMG Academy, Prolific Prep
Combine Academy, I can throw names out there for days,
all the more posts on them on ESPN and House
of Highlights during Listen to Me time. Unless you unless
(14:25):
you're a top fifty player, they're not posting you in
the summertime.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
But here's what I'm saying. If you are going to
one of those I recruited all of them. O' kills
dropped off, But there's a big TA in George. There
may be twelve really good prep schools. That's all times five.
Anthony got me sixty players. A lot of people are
going there not getting a chance to play. That's all
that I'm saying, go ahead, you.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Know, and with the new with the new environment, Jerry,
that they're not really using high school player like that,
and you.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Know exactly, they're not exactly, yes, and so.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Your advantage you get more pressed in your own region
in the area. But like I said, I think there's
about four or five great prep schools and that we
all know around the country. Yes, And I don't know
the public know a lot of the prep schools and
a lot of the prep school players. Like Jarry said,
I think I.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Understand what y'all are arguing, But y'all can't name me
one notable player that's been recruited outside of Louisville in
the last like ten years, outside of quinns Nyer and
Raymonds Vaulting. Those are the only leave because they don't
get recruited here.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
But you don't hoe the Benny. You don't think Rayjon
Rondo is being recruited. When he left, everybody was recruiting,
and that was.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Like two thousand and five.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
I know, but I'm just I'm talking about reason. But
here's what I'm telling you're throwing up.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
You're throwing on twenty years ago.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
No no, no, no, no, no any no no. I'm throwing
out names that went to prep school that went pro.
Forget all these kids that go to prep school and
nothing happens. I'm talking about that went pro after that.
So let's just stay to the facts. Oh a lot
go and even nothing happens for them. I'm talking about
the ones that in prep school that went throw out
(16:04):
and Russell, so that means all it ran and didn't
it didn't develop for him.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
You're throwing out a zero point one percent number. How
many people go professionally any provol any high school you're
throwing out when I'm.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Gonna hit you with this, and.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
I'm saying, going to trying to play in a Power
five conference? Name of Power five conference kids.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
I'm gonna hlp you turn around years. Give George and I.
I gave you two names. Give George and I. Kids
that left louisvill with the prep school and played at
those conferences. Give me something right now.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
That's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
You can't give me a Power five You're the one
arguing it. Give me one day.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
I mean, Cayden Mag's going right now. He's from Louisville.
He left here and went to Comby Academy.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
He's going to Auburn next year.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
That's already one.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
That's one. Give me another one.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
I didn't even know who he was.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I found out. I did find out about two days ago,
three days ago, about you played if you would if
you would have played her, if you would have stayed
in the little if you would have went to Seneca
or Dogs High School, or even about do you think
he would be getting recruited by Auburn and be completely honest, Yeah, yeah, no, no,
absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
If I could say, if I can say that George
Jerry gave you like Rondo's and and uh the other
young man from Window I state, name me a player
that that that beside those two guys that went to
prep school in the last ten years and they went pro.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
A lot of people go from prep school to go pro.
Maybe not from Kentucky.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
You gotta understand that.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
I know, I understand that y'all are arguing everything and
staying who was winning pro out of prep school. There's
a lot of people that don't go pro period. You're
throwing That's what I'm saying. You're throwing out such a
slim number. Even going power fire is tough everybody. But
even okay, even for expect name a kid that with
power five that went to a normal high school.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Here in the seventh here's what I'm saying here, Okay,
I'm gonna answer. Here's the question though, because everybody's listening,
I want you to hear that when we say they
have to go to prep school to go to a
power five school. And if you're going trying, that's your
purpose to go to a power five school so that
you can play at the highest level, so that you
(18:26):
will get a shot at the NBA. That's what this
is all about. This ain't going to go to power five.
To go to power five. Everybody. Everybody's aspiration is the
higher you go in college, the better opportunity you have
to play as a pro. That is that is the gamut.
That's why they're going and they're just not going to
go to a power five school and say, I'm here.
(18:48):
Everybody's aspiration is the next step. I just don't see
the power five move going to prep school then going
to the young man that you've got, we're going to
follow him. Anthony. There was a young man you have me.
There's a young man that went to North Oldham. Frankie's
really good friends with you. You know what I'm talking about.
The six fourth shooter who went to Alburn. He left
(19:09):
old he left Ballard, went to Oldham, went from Oldham
to prep school one Mount Verd, left Mount Verd when
somewhere else, went to Auburn, went to Washington State. He
bounced around everywhere. What was his name, Anthony, trying to
get to the NBA. Do you remember what I'm talking about,
a white kid from Old County, Yes, Justin Powell. He's
the prime example, Anthony. He was being recruited when he
(19:32):
was at Oldham. But he went to all those schools,
all those universities. It didn't work out. So if you're
going to prep school just to go to a higher school, okay,
if that's the purpose, hand.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
He bounced around and see you're seeing he bounced around,
went to different schools, getting didn't work out. He's still
on the G League team. He still got recruited into
the NBA, he still got recruited Power five Conference. But
at the same time, everybody bounces around. Now, so what's
the different from him going from school to school than
anybody else. Now, half of the Sweet Sixteen it showed
the people that came from different schools. Every roster had
players that weren't from that original school, Like more than
(20:08):
sixty percent of the roster is from of the different schools.
So everybody bounces around. So there's no here's what I'm saying.
Four years then who seven years from a millionaire.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
That's your whether or no. No, the NC double has changed.
But here's the It used to be. You went to
those schools Anthony because you wanted to be really seen,
because you were going pro. That's why I said. Rajeon,
Ryan and Russell, those are the first kids that left
and they were pros. Now everybody goes and they're not
pros because ga't name any there are none. They just bounced.
They go to Power five twos, but they don't go pro.
(20:39):
It used to be when they left Anthony, they were
gonna go pro. Rajon Rond Doing Russell, they went. There
were great players at prep school. There were great players
at Ohio State and Kentucky and they played pro. These
kids are going to somewhere and they're not playing pro.
That's all.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
I'm such a you're forgetting the reason round people don't.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
They don't.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
They don't care to go pro. They don't care to
go pro anymore. Ni Ol money so big. These kids
aren't going pro anyways.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
It's only three years. I'm gonna give you any that's
only three years of that, So I'm gonna give it to you.
But it's only been three years of money. Three years.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
I think you think this.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Is legal money, legal money. Talking about legal money, legal money.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Every every seven.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
We got to get the break. I gotta get the break.
We got a pair of bills. Eve Sports Radio for
numbers five zero two, five seven one seventy nine hundred.
We'll talk to you all in a minute. Welcome back
to Eves Sports Radio. It's seven thirty four one numbers
five zero two, five seven one seventy nine hundred. We
have George Williams, we have Anthony Eves, and we've got
(21:40):
a caller. I want to read this for everyone. According
to the estimates, only zero point zero two or zero
point zero three percentage of high school or prep school
end up playing in the NBA WNBA. Think about that number.
That means out of every ten thousand high school players,
only two or three we'll ever get a chance to
(22:01):
play professional basketball. So let's go to our call and
bring on Ryan to the show. Rian, Welcome to the
sports radio. How are you.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
I'm fine, Good morning, guys, brother, I'm doing great.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
George, you no, fantastic, Thank you?
Speaker 4 (22:18):
All right, Well, a couple of things real quick, Jerry. I,
although I absolutely agree with you and George and principal
about these young kids, No.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I haven't mine mine. I haven't expressed my point of
view yet. I haven't.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Then we'll get you, George. We'll come to you. We'll
come to you next. Here, go ahead, Ryan, come to George.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Here's my point, guys. We can't have it both places either.
We're okay with these kids transferring, but we don't criticize
the kids to BACOM team, the team right here in
Jefferson County, and we think that's okay. We can't have
it both plays it. It's either that can transfer and
we'll finally they came, Oh, there's got the guardrails. But
(23:03):
when you got kids, you know, Jared, you know as
well as me, Jared bouncing around for the team right here.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Now, we do we do. Yes, we do, we do, which.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Is basically cheating, okay, but it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
George, George, what do you think of that? I'm gonna
answer that to hold it right there? Run George, what do.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
You thank of? What think of what? Jared?
Speaker 1 (23:25):
What you just said? You your side? You said?
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Do you?
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (23:30):
You go ahead and say it again? No?
Speaker 1 (23:31):
No, you tell you you were telling Ryan that you
had not put your point of view out? What is
your point of view?
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Mine is? I thank you and Anthony both right. And
I think Anthony, you got to the age now that
you didn't get to the old man stage because when
you were going to school, going to prep schools without
standing right now, basically coaches are not even worried about
the high school kids because they're going from the mid
level to other schools and getting the transfer podal So
it's a different kind of recruiting than when you actually
(23:58):
went to school. So I think that you know, going
to a prep school, you can go to a junior
college now and get as much publicity to a mid
level school and get as much elicits. The terrain is shaded.
So I don't think by going to a prep school
it does good. But I think if you stay in
your home state, you can become a bigger star than
you could if you go to the school where you're
in the ocean with a lot of big sharks finding feed.
(24:21):
But if you're in your own state, I think you
can feel well. You look at the young boy that
left out here, Shepherd, you know, and you look at
the players that the gut stay in Kentucky. They're playing
in Kentucky now, and you get bigger offers. I think
if you stay around.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Garry, the young man y'all were talking about earlier, I'm
a little bit familiar with because remember I told you
for my next all right, he started at North oldhom
he transferred to Trinity, he transferred to I believe it's
monte Verity Academy, transferred back to Oldham County. North told
(24:58):
them there was four moves and I school went to Alburn,
went to Tennessee, went to Washington State. And I'm not
sure if that's so, but I know you went to
seven or eight schools in eight years. I can tell
you that. And he ended up going nowhere in the Genia.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Yeah. Yes, so here's the deal. No, you're one hundred
percent Ron George Anthony, George, you brought up a great point,
great argument. We're gonna get to these games in a second.
Here's my deal with moving in the area. Run. I
said that all kids should be able to move once
and be able to play right away, not during the season,
(25:38):
after the season. Once. I'm good with giving kids an opportunity.
You couldn't play at Ballard. You shouldn't have to be
locked in that ballard if your parents have moved you.
Since there's no more this multiple bussing where you have
to get people everywhere, and it's on the obligation of
the Jeffs County school system.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
I said one. Let me stop one. The problem with
that is, Garry. It's not kids that can't play at
Valor that are moving. It's the superstarge on these schools
are moving. Yes, you know what, I know, it's not
just not the kids on.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
The end of that aren't getting it. You know, I
still they don't.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Going on here. They run over here, and they run
over there.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
And they and we're gonna make this getting better.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
I give run, You got to give you give them one,
I said one. Though it's all I can at any
level is one. No I know one time.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
I'll leave you with one more thoughts so I can
get off there and you finish your show. And I
just got to mintion this because it's so rich on
so many levels. Propaganda radio this morning, are over there
and you haven't got to the Arkansas game yet, slamming, plaming,
flamming Kinea Page about how dumb they are, how super
(26:55):
they are, and what a great coach Rick Patino is
when he just got done spanking his Okay, they don't
want to hear that, and talking about all the places
PK would have called pulled up. P K got beat
about fifteen by Creighton. Go over there, set down, be
quite and watch the big boys play. Okay, that's all
(27:16):
I can tell.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
All right, gooda. So anyway, George, great point. I mean,
this high school movement is a hot topic. It really is.
And there's all opinions on all sides. There's a correct
point to all of them. Anthony's, like you said, George,
Ron's my one move. There's no there's no one answer.
(27:40):
That's the crazy thing. But anyway, Anthony, give us what
happened in college sports and we got to talk about that.
What happened last night?
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Well, man, I got to I'm glad you're here for it.
So obviously in last night it's a lot of upsets. Honestly,
we did have, you know, greatest team in the nation,
take care of Arizona to one hundred, Arizona ninety three,
Border Round in Maryland eighty seven to seventy one. Bama
killed b Why you probably one of the worst shootouts
(28:10):
of the year. One hundred and thirteen to eighty eight.
That's got to be like an NCAA record one hundred
and thirteen.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Points in many ways way you try to score.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
But if you go one hundred and thirteen points, like,
I don't even know what you're say in the locker
room aftern Like, that's literally zero defense.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Georgia went twenty five for fifty one from the three guys.
I always saved my team if I was gonna get
beat George, I wanted him to make twenty five or
thirty threes to beat me. Well, Obama did that. Anthony
twenty five for fifty one. Good gosh, that's crazy what
he would I watched.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
I I can say that I would have been on
the bench at the end of that game, because would files.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
George Sears had ten threes. I watched it.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
A target had song god been I've been flapping him.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Oh, Georgia have found out also a hit pointers, guys.
What hey, what a tournament, guys. We can say what
we want again, think of this. I know we're at
seven forty one, but and we've got all the movement,
we got older players, we do play in college. And
I've been to criticism. I've been criticizing that also, But
all the games have been fantastic. I'm George the games
(29:19):
of it. I'm watching every minute of every game, Guys.
I watched. I stayed up all night watching these guys play.
I told you the Kentucky Illinois game largest crowd since
ninety three, So we can say that older players and
all this movement, and they mentioned likeness. Guys, it's the
most watched it's ever been. I stayed up. I know that.
(29:41):
I'm just telling you the Kentucky Illinois game was the
most watched game since nineteen ninety three. Guys, So come on,
some's grabbinging right.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Something is happening, right, Jerry. I heard you say older
players back in the day two twenty three, and not
older players. Most people don't graduate. Kylee at twenty one.
Like every bad thing, they just don't come out in
four years, you know what I mean. So these players,
if they sit out a year, they're gonna be twenty
two to twenty three when they come out.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I think it even helps the NBA because they more
mature when they get get to the next level. If
they get to the next level, but they're ready to
go into the work for every.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Bird was older. I do to George, really and truly,
I mean, I like more mature at twenty two, George,
twenty three, twenty seven. But I'm watching it and they're great.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Gat that was That was COVID. That wasn't the playoff fin.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
It is COVID did throw that in. You're right, COVID
did throw in a kick a kink in the armor
of this. But yeah, guys, no matter what we want
to say, all the problems in NCAA has all the issues. Guys,
we're watching these games. I know that. That's just the fact. Again,
that's just the fact. So I don't know if they're
(30:50):
doing things wrong, because we sure be that out Alabama game, George,
that was a great game to watch. Good God, they
were strong and honestly, anthey, b why you did not
play poorly?
Speaker 2 (31:02):
They did not.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Only they were they were down ten twelve, ten twelve,
down to eight ten twelve down and then finally the
Dyke burst. But good gosh, Bay Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee. George,
they're real. We have to admit they're real.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
That's all I been. You know, I've been saying that
SEC been really all alone, you know what I mean.
And they proved their poorn. Like we said, they got
to prove it, and they proved that they are.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
They proved it. I told them I was going to
be critical of the SEC.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
They didn't know.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
You didn't proven it. Now I'm gonna give any credit.
Those Duke Brew Devils. They're eighteen and nineteen years old, George.
They're the biggest team in college basketball, and they're right.
I don't like them. I hate to say I don't
like Duke.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
I like them, George, and a lot of people were
really working the coach and a lot of people questing
the coaches. Yes, I wasn't the outstanding. He outstanding, But
when you're sweating a little down, and were you're sweating
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Early, absolutely no, you think I'm sweating again their zone. Yeah,
I'm stressed about Caleb Love the eight years senior.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
You're still can he played well though, didn't he and
the boy played well?
Speaker 2 (32:07):
I don't like.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
He played well. I know he played well yesterday. Yeah,
you and everybody now they're all.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Old now and thirty years old.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
Yeah, they're all off game, they're all over played well.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
This night, fifth season, this year was a hold up.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Guys, we're seven forty five. Hold up, hold him, man,
you're chilling the guy the in top five.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
They pushed you.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
It was an eight point game, six game.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
It was a six point six point game, Top five.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
I don't know anything and college that.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Hold on. Last night's game, you all were up six
shooting free throws with a minute to go. That's not
a blowout, you said, first of.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
All, See you're putting Wardson. I've never said any think
about a blowout.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Okay, then don't be knocked. Arizona. They were right on
your butt. If your team so good, while they're on
your butt, they were right there. They were.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
We had two of the biggest spreads of the Round
of thirty, Round sixty four and Round of thirty two.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Sixty last night. But last night, who's going to Who's going.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
To Cabo right now? Oh, they're going to We're going
to Cabo flights with them nil bills Cabo.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
You only sick today, seven forty six, George, We're going
to get our last break in. Let's just want to Yeah,
we're going to Cabbo. Duke what one hundred Arizona at
ninety three. It was a dog fight the entire game. Guys.
When we come back, we're talking about my man Swaggy Cow.
That's all there is to it. We're going to talk
about Arkansas, Texas Tech and being up sixteen with four
(33:55):
and a half to go and what transpired. All I
know is this a great job reaching the sweet sixteen
and having an opportunity to go to the Grade eight
from my man John Caliperry. Were there a few things
I would have done differently, I'm going to tell you
after the break, But bottom line is he put his
team in position to have a chance. Esports Radio will
(34:16):
talk to you in a minute. Welcome back to the
Sports radio seven point fifty guys. I hate to tell you,
we've got a gown on the line. I got to
talk to because I need the best seats right behind

to cleaning the chairs, which he was doing a little
bit of last year. We got the one and only
(34:38):
Greg galliad on the show. Greg, you got my son
Anthony and George Williams. How are you doing today?
Speaker 5 (34:43):
I'm good. Do your listeners know you're currently sitting in
the parking lot at Cardinal Club waiting to go hit
the tea box here in about twenty minutes. Yes, how
you do your show from your car seat?
Speaker 1 (34:54):
That's amazing they do, Greg. They understand it's that time
of the year. You to work and I'm going on vacation. Well, no,
not to great. I'm in my car. I'm going to
Indianapolis today. I'm getting ready to drive up and watch
the Cats play Tennessee. Who are you taking, Greg, Kentucky?
Well for Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
I was at the Young Center. I watched Tennessee dismantle
U of L. I can't believe they didn't at least
beat the Cats one time during the season. Tell you what,
it'll be a nail bier. I just can't see Tennessee
losing three times to one club in the same year.
So I say Tennessee and a real tight one.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Oh well, I'm going to Tennessee. George, who are you
going with?
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Come on, I want you to say it, stop it,
say it the Cats?
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Who are you going with? Then? Oh? Now, George stops
the Cats because I got him in my bracket too.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
So I got to I got to think, you.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Know basketball and you know basketball.
Speaker 1 (36:03):

So Jerry, we're gonna have to talk, buddy.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Well, not about money. It's not about money, George.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
I played golf with him. For Jerry Eves quarters. They're
as heavy as manhole covers.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
You are really going to bring that wallet out.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
I'm gonna do it, Jerry. I like to say this
to Greg. Greg, I like to thank you for giving
me conditions last year to come down and cover it
and a lot of young players to play in the
West End Baseball League. They got to see some of
the active and you have really started to generate a
new crowd up in the African American community.
Speaker 5 (39:46):
Well, that's one of our goals. And we're actually gonna
go over to the Newburgh ball Fields in June on
a Saturday morning and do a clinic for some of
the kids over there, and we're looking forward to doing that.
But Jerry, I want to let you know about a
promotion coming up that I know will be near and JURYR.
That's Friday Night, Friday Night, May Friday Night, May Night,
Denny Crumb Bobblehead Night. We're hoping to have some members
(40:07):
of the nineteen eighty and eighty six championship team on
hand this UFL Alumni Night. That's Friday, May Night.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
I'll be there, Greg. Appreciate you coming off with conditions. Greg,
and more kids in the West End. It likes to
have a cap brat too if you can, no question.
Speaker 5 (40:22):
That's right, Jernymes. Keep the ball in the fairway today, keep.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
It down in the middle. I'm going to Indianapolis home,
but I'm going to.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Watch the games. Love you, Greg, Thanks for coming on.
George Antney, super job. Have a fantastic weekend, God willing.
We'll be back on Monday. Bye bye.
