Welcome to two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
All right, Welcome back our number two, Ryan, Drew, Shannon
and Super Mario Here and another KSR Summer Tour pop
up show. We are live at the Lexington Tennis Challenger,
presented by Meridian Wealth Management. It's a Usta pro circuit event.
Kind of the up and coming stars on a tennis
circuit or all be playing here. You can buy a
ten dollars ticket and get it and get to see
tennis for the whole day. I mean, if you're a tennis.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Guy, we here.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
If you're not Drew, take you look around and watch
some good action. Ten dollars get you in for the
whole day. A lot of the players are starting to
warm up right now. You can probably maybe here in
the background a little bit, but come on out here.
It's been here for thirty years. Kind of a staple
in Lexington. Now in the summer, this time of year,
late July early all get you. That's when they have
it every year.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Yeah, I got food trucks, a lot going on. Even
if you barely know anything about tennis, it's just a
good day to get out here and see it. I
remember Matt and I called some of the matches for this.
You did, that's right as best as we could.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
You know, you mentioned armadillo's and the avis last tap
was he just blew up. They're armadiental sidings. I guess Shannon,
you and I did not know they were this prevalent
in Kentucky, Hopkinsville, Benton, Nortonville, Crofton, Elizabethtown. They're everywhere.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Well, I mean, yeah, somebody's like, I don't know why
you care about an armadillo. It's just a possible and
a half shell. Because it's awesome, That's why.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
That's like saying, well, I don't know why you care
about snakes. It's just a lizard without legs. I mean,
it's still it was still an armadillo.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
It surprised me to see it on the side of
the road on the I sixty five. Yeah, in Franklin.
So also on the Avies of Glasticks matchine. Mario's got
a question. He's got a doo a question for him.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
Yes, I stole this question from on Twitter. His handles
high school top recruiting, So shout out to him. I'm
still in his question this for you guys. The question
is if you had to add one player to the
TBT squad that isn't an active NBA player, Who would
it be?

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Who you guys got this? I'll go last, I'll go first.
I'm gonna think about it. Tomarcus Cousins, Yeah, he Willie
went to the bench with a few fowls. They tried
to pound it inside nature scene was putting up his
best fight, but we needed a little more size. It
booked in there. It was in there. I think it
would have been quick work of the basketball and the
postgame scrum as well.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Just trying to go through my head and think, Okay,
who is not active right now in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Well, I think Bookie's a great answer. That is Rondo
may be in the conversation. John Wall could probably be
in the conversation. Guys that they can't play a whole game,
but they can play him in spurts and stuff.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Wall could give him a game. He's he's trying an
NBA comeback right now.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Well, he's he's a good answer.

Speaker 5 (03:26):
Then can I can I give my answer while you
think Shannon, oh yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
It's gonna throw you off a little bit.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
But my guys, Isaiah Brisco, oh yeah, yeah, I think
he would be really good in something like this. This
is he definitely put on the show. He's in Big
Three now, but I think he'd be a great pig.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Well, he kind of was supposed to be on the team.
I think he left him hanging a little bit to
go to the Big Three. He's supposed to be part
of the original roster, so that almost came true.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I'm gonna throw on a vote for a guy that
is a front of the show that probably is not
in game shape, but I would love to see him
out there.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
I know you're gonna say that.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
I almost gave Woo my extra ticket last night. I
was gonna hit him up in a little.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Would be fun because he could be like the Daniel
Orton guy, just come in just setting massive picks and
and help you stay out of trouble.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
And he plays well against Louis.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
That's true. That's true.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Marcus Lee. He was there last night, obvious he was there.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Talked to him post game.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
He maybe won. You know, a high flyer that could
maybe play still play a little bit.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Really, I don't want anyone to take away the Nate
Sustina Sean though. I mean, he's our MVP.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeates Sustina Day.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
It was yesterday his stock has gone up significantly, So
I get a shot.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Will you get a chance in the NBA?

Speaker 4 (04:30):
I just made a stock with a fan baun NBA.
Maybe I don't know, but just with the fan. But
he had that one year and we liked him and
he was on a good team. But you know, it
was the COVID year. It didn't get a tournament. When
you don't have a tournament, you don't have a lot
of memories to hang on to how that ended. So
he's really embraced this because of how his season ended
in Lexington, and he might hate Louisville more than anyone
else on the planet.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
It had to be the most watched tvt game of
all time. Obvious attended, but then you throw on the
fact that all of Kentucky was watching, if no other
state was.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
It was so loud in it.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
I was telling you guys off air, it was so
loud that the play when they were getting announced, when
the starting lineup, the lot famillion players couldn't even hear
their name. They had to wait for a second. Are
they called them my name? Okay, that's me and then
they go out to the from the starting lineup. So
it was insane that the atmosphere was incredible.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Thanks for having us a little that's at nine o'clock
on a Monday night in late July and they had
that kind of atmosphere and that much noise for a
watch some old guy, old timers play basketball.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
What times you get to sleep, Mario? Four am, I
would say, Mario was texting me in about three thirty five.
You know we're both up. You got that adrenaline rush.

Speaker 7 (05:30):
You know.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Of course I'm a victim, so I had I had
to put stuff on my chest from that assault, so
I couldn't just go straight to sleep.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Eight five nine two oh two two eight sent we
got the folks have been holding for a while, Matt,
So who we got first? Vince? Go ahead, Vince Guy.
I just want to tell y'all the rivalry is back.
It is back, baby.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Thanks so all. It needed that, It needed that little
little spark last night to get the rivalry back to
where it used to be.

Speaker 8 (05:59):
It needed the whole thing, and I needed it personally
because then, uh, in twenty fourteen, my my brother went
to Louisville to play football, and uh, and even though
I tried to hold out, I tried to hold out
I I ended up getting soft and I let a
little bit of Louisvill creep in my heart.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
I can't do that.

Speaker 9 (06:20):
Yeah, yeah, man, it so he crept in, it crept
in in the state, and it stayed there for a while.
Because Louisville was so bad, I had no reason to
worry about anything. But with them, uh coming back out
of their holes after Pat.

Speaker 8 (06:32):
Kelsey's getting hired, them feeling good with Brian Brown, you
can hear him start turping again. And and and I'm
a Louisville guy.

Speaker 10 (06:39):
Uh, been a UK fan.

Speaker 11 (06:40):
In Louisville, been been here most of my life, and uh,
you can just feel like getting back to those levels
and being in the and being in Freedom Hall last night,
the atmosphere was absolutely electric, man, electric crazy like like
as Mario.

Speaker 8 (06:54):
Was saying that the the craft, the noise in there.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
It was, Yeah, it was.

Speaker 7 (06:59):
It was insane.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Appreciate advance thanks to the phone call. Yeah, I mean,
it's just awesome to kind of get that feeling that, hey,
you know, that rival we've had against Louisville kind of
felt like it. It was back, at least for last night.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Yeah, I mean, they've been so bad, we kind of
forget they're over there. They don't really ever do anything
relevant in college basketball. Eight wins last we can say
to someone that had eight wins, you almost want to
pray for him. So it's good to get some confidence
out of him last night, just to smack him right
back down where they belong.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
It did sort of recharge, though. I feel like both
fan bases. I mean well, I mean just with new
coaches and then throwing that game last night. How heat
it that was? The game in December is gonna be
a lot of fun, all of no doubt.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Well, the football game here in Lexington, I think that
could be a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Keep winning that too.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Who's next? Math koting of the phone call rup, Who's next?
Free Bird? Go ahead, free bird? Hello, radio down.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Free bird.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
He's gonna hear it, ye free bird? Okay, sorry, we
gave you many times. Johnny Versace guy, Oh yeah, you
have the floor, Johnny Versace, please continue.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (08:15):
As a big time Louisville hater, I have a Hall
of fame of Kentucky players that I based on performance
plus hate for Louisville, and Will Levis is at the
very top of that. And now Nate Cstina is in
the top side. That guy killed them and then gave
them the ls down, And I mean I just loved

(08:36):
every minute of it.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
I was there.

Speaker 10 (08:38):
Uh it was so Louisville. I mean, I've been to
the Young Center and that's a cosmopolitan crowd compared to
what was there last night. That was a rough cruise,
but you know, we got along. Nobody did, you know,
said anything or did anything to me. I saw some
uh you know fan on fan crime, but I mean
it it was we.

Speaker 7 (09:00):
Had a great time.

Speaker 10 (09:03):
Like you know, I'm Withdrew. I mean I almost like
the fact that they had a little bit of hope
for a few minutes. I mean, they never led higher game,
but it was even more fun when you know Harrison
just threw the dagger on him.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
And thank God that their spit and their head.

Speaker 10 (09:19):
Buds are more accurate than their three points.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
I appreciate Jonniersacchi, thank you very much. Yeah, the guys
like Jennifersacchi and Marsha pol that live in Louisville are
Kentucky fans. Sweet night for him. Last night.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
I had a fun moment before I became a victim.
I thought I was gonna get a drink in my face.
There was a guy yelling at Abby to get my attention.
He was leaning over the rail and he had a
full margarita in his hand, and I was like, should
I go talk to him? He's like, that drink is
gonna end up in your face. But I went over
there actually, very cordial little fan. He just wanted to
say hi. I don't know if he listens to the show,
but as I was walking to him, I thought that
was gonna be my moment. Yeah, that I'd be wearing

(09:54):
his margarita.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
That's your favorite moment, Drew, What was your favorite moment
outside of getting punched?

Speaker 4 (09:59):
It was my favorite moment. I'm a vic tomorrow. I
have to go through the legal system today. I don't
want to have to do that. I don't want to
go to the doctor. Uh can I just I'll give
you mine? Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
I like mine is really really small. I just like
the fact that Daniel Orton. The game was going on,
but Daniel Orton was in his own little mind. I
would say, he's talking, he's john back and forth with
the fans. Is he's so close the bench is so
close to the fans near the bench. Yeah, And That's
all you're hearing all days is Daniel Orton and the
fans going back and forth and back and forth.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
And I was just enjoying that. I was enjoying that.
I know the game was going on, but I was
enjoying Daniel Orton show.

Speaker 12 (10:35):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Mine's really Sistina just being as Johnny Versachi said his
we didn't know this little hatred was inside him till
last night, and that he let that butterfly fly everywhere
all over Freedom Hall. That was good to see. Really,
mine's an overall take of the TBT. I've said this
a few times about the Reparna games. It's just that
was like a golden era for Kentucky basketball. Those are

(10:56):
some of my favorite teams. I knew those guys personally
a little bit through the Bahamas. They were very close
to KSR. It's as close to a friend as we've
ever had on the team early some of those guys.
So just them being back and you know, being around
them and seeing them having that fun again. The Harrison
Twins look like they are loving every minute of being
around the UK experience again and beating Louisville. You know,
they're guys kind of shock kind of quiet. Haven't heard

(11:18):
much from them since they've been around. I don't know
if they've said it publicly, but you can just tell
they really are glad that they didn't appreciate what's going
and they've been a big part of it. So it's
kind of a broader thing. But I just love having
the some of the all time favorites being around, having
all this fun.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
It is a lot familiar day here at the Lexington
Tennis Challenge or presented by Meridian Wealth Management, Ryan Drew, Shannon,
super Mario will take your calls eight five nine two
eight h two two eight seven. That's the Clark's Pump
Shop phone number. We still got to do our whiskey
Thief song of the Day. I gave it to Wednesday
Night Shannon Shannon Singing Stone Temple, Pilots and Foo Fighters
and some of their favorites there.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
I figure you would give it to Wagon Wheel if
being a Darius record song.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
But that was that was that was a bad performance.
I forgot the words at one point in the middle
of the songs. Well we're there, We're there to back
you up. Uh, well take our break, come back. This
is Kentucky's Sports Radio All right, Welcome back Kentucky Sports

Speaker 4 (13:20):
He'd certainly been underdog.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
Well.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Speaking of DraftKings, I did put all nine dollars in
my DraftKings account on law Familia to cover the two
and a half point spread.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Hey, congratulations, thank you.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
We have about like seventeen dollars now in my bank account.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
We always love our friends a DraftKings, but the lines
we've been getting for law Familia have been a giveaway.
I'm high six and oh now betting on them. The
totals and the spread. Uh, maybe it'll get corrected eventually,
but it's been it's been fun putting a little money
behind the team throughout this tournament.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Are you banking your money for the punts?

Speaker 2 (13:49):
You know?

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Football season?

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Yes, football seats coming. It's a blindly bad punt. Yes, games,
he's not even watching well if especially if there's bad weather.
If it's a bad weather game. Oh yeah, punt every
single time.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
I want to do it. I don't care what's going on,
all right? Eight five nine two two eight seven. Matt says,
we still out some collars. So who we got, Matt, Kelly,
go ahead, Kelly.

Speaker 13 (14:09):
Hey, guys, Uh, I was at the Gang last night.
Corey and I went, and let me tell.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
You, he is.

Speaker 13 (14:16):
He is a quiet dude. When he's you know, hosting
with you know, with Shannon and Billy sometimes or doing
trivia on on Contegurial Call on Thursday mornings, Uh, you know,
giving him all those props. But like when we were
at the game, he like, I was a little bit nervous,
to be honest, because he is he is.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
He is an ultimate I feel like you can almost.

Speaker 13 (14:42):
Kind of put him in there with the with the
hairson twins.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
Because he's quiet.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
But he's also going to talk the most trash.

Speaker 13 (14:49):
And we were surrounded by Louisville fans, so I'm looking
around like I'm.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
A little bit nervous.

Speaker 13 (14:55):
I mean, thankfully eventually everybody you know around this either
lest or just say much else.

Speaker 14 (15:02):
But I mean, like it was.

Speaker 13 (15:04):
It was great. Absolutely loved everything about that game last night.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Well, he's another guy that grew up in Louisville, so
he has to fight, to fight every single day. Yeah yeah,
And and I.

Speaker 13 (15:16):
Mean like and we were on the same rope and
opposite ends of his mom, and like she's.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
A Louisville fan, so like, I mean, you know, he's.

Speaker 13 (15:29):
He's he's a lone wolf. But I mean, like, look,
it was so much fun. I love the Hairson Twins.
We saw him in the parking lot and I wanted
to go hug him, and Cory told me it be.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Weird, so I didn't.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Why you should have? Yeah, that's yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
How many other opportunities are you gonna have to hug
the hairs and Twins on the parking line? That's very true.
When it's there, you got to go for it.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Missed the opportunity, Kelly, Thank you. I appreciate the phone call.
So yeah, a lot of people like Roy Price that
grew up in Lexton, Marcia, Johnny Versaci. Big night for
him last night.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Yeah, Corey's been having fun. He keeps, you know, we
got my boy that we found out pretty quickly last night.
But in the most Corey Price fashion, He's sending me
like elementary school pictures of this guy, Like, hey, Cory,
this does I don't need to see this dude's fourth
grade before card. But that's how much digging Corey's done.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
I gotta tell you a quick story. And when I
start telling the story, it may not mean anything, but
just just hang on, hang on for the end of
the story. Okay, Baltimore Orioles catcher James McCann, Okay, took
a ninety five mini hour fastball and his nose yesterday broke.
He's nose, he's got black eyes. Well, they stuffed some

(16:40):
gold up in his nose and he played the rest
of the game. He played eight innings after getting hit
by a ninety five min hour fastball in his face.
That enough is a good story.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah right, his.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Face is destroyed and he kept going.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
That looks like the guy's face that would have looked
like if you had to punch the back last night.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Yeah, but there's more to the story. James McCann's wife
is Jessica Cox from Campbellsville, Kentucky. Really, yes, you might
ask Channon. I wonder how they met. She's from Campbellsville
and he went to the University of Arkansas. Well, I'll
tell you, and I have permission to tell this story.
It's because it's a good story. Jessica was dating a

(17:19):
young man that went to play baseball at Arkansas. Okay,
his roommate was James McCann. The boyfriend brought James back
to Campbellsville for a weekend. The rest is history. It's
still your girl, That's what happened. But how would you
like if your roommates stole your girl?

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Well, I don't know. You gotta be careful where you
take your girlfriend around. I guess, especially in those you know,
those years when you're in college.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
I don't know much about James mccamn, but after last night,
he's a bad dude.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
No kidding, you know. I know he's with the White Sox.
I think for a time, maybe it even the Mets.
He's been he've been in the Big League for a while,
but went to Ridge, Arkansas, came back to Campbellville with
these rooms eight went back home with a new girlfriend.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
That's impressive. I don't know what's more impressive though, that
or the fact that he played ever to get hit.
I was watching something on YouTube, you know, you get
random videos that come up on YouTube of Nolan Ryan.
I guess when he pitched and he got hit in
the face by a like a I guess was a
bouncer that came back hit him in the face, busted
his lip, and he went ahead and through like another

(18:22):
seven innings after that with blood running down his chin
and like on his jersey and everything. And I said
to myself, stuff like that just doesn't happen. Like players
these days just aren't that tough. And then you tell
me that story that happened yesterday.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Nolan Ryan is maybe the one of the toughest men alive.
You looking at his stats, most no hitters, most one hitters,
most two hitters, most three hitters, most strikeouts, And you
know what, he never won a Cy Young Award.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Really, yes, he pitched for like fifty years.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
I know.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
One of the greatest pictures of baseball history started his
career in the sixties and entered in the nineties.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
Sometime. Of these stats about the pictures, I guess they're true,
but they seeing little unelievable. He threw two thousand pitches
that game. They didn't take him out.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Yeah, yeah, really yeah, while.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
We're talking about weird baseball stats, I was saving this
for a slow day during the summer. I've had it
in my notes. This is for you. Shit, you're a
baseball guy. There's only been two players in the history
of Major League Baseball whose last name was Moyer. M
O y e R. Yeah, Ed Moyer and Jamie Moyer.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Jamie Moyer, I think is still pitching. He's sixty years old.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Now, so they're the only two guys last name was Moyer.
But wait, there's more. Ed Moyer died on November eighteenth,
nineteen sixty two. Guess when Jamie Moyer was born nineteen
sixty two. November eighteenth, nineteen sixty two. Wow, I love
stuff and that kind of weird.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
It kind of is. Isn't that like the whole Lincoln Kennedy.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Yeah, that's true all the Yeah, the Quincy's been Lincoln again,
so at least I guess I got to slide that
little factor in here. Who's next, man? Who we got next? Blake?
Go ahead, Blake.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Hey, guys, I.

Speaker 14 (19:56):
Just want to say I went to the Friday night,
the first night of team and it was awesome.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
And we went out to that new.

Speaker 14 (20:04):
Restaurant Most Poems over there, and the most of the
team was out there afterwards, and they were having a
great time. And my wife and I were talking about, like,
how much fun do you think just the team? I
guess Mario would know more than anyone, but Mario, how
much fun is the team having because they got the experience,
like what it's like to be back and rough, and
then even like an away game in Louisville, it's just
been so much fun to watch. And I wonder, you know, what,

(20:26):
what is the team saying?

Speaker 4 (20:27):
Is in as a whole?

Speaker 14 (20:29):
Are they just loving every single minute of it or
what's going on in their head?

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Yeah? Pretty much. They love it.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
The experience that they have, they get to relive, you know,
the their old times. They a lot of these guys there,
it's it's it's memories for them. They're up till two
three am in the morning talking about, you know, their
memories with the playing with Kentucky and and the things
that they used to do. So I would say it's
a big journey for them to reminisce on their memories.

(20:59):
Many were enjoyed the process of it, and they're embracing it.
They've always embraced it, but now you've seen them embrace it.
You see Willie cauley Stein pull up with the L's
down T shirt after the game yesterday, So they were
really embracing the culture and just reliving, reliving great memories.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
I would say so.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
And for guys like Cistina, like you said, the season
didn't end the way we wanted to with with COVID,
he didn't get to play in the postseason at all.
Killing Grady the season and the way he wanted to
even Brendan Canada for crying out loud, it didn't end
the way he wanted to. So these they get a
chance to appreciate kind of what the March madness environment
is all about round here.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
If I'm not mistaken, Grady, you didn't even get to
play Louisville. It was the year they COVID maybe canceled
the game, they switched the opponent, I think.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
So that was Western Kentucky played that year.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Yeah, I know Willie in his postgame comments last night,
So that atmosphere last night is why he committed to
a lot of familiar He's like, I'm actually glad Louisville
made it to the stage of the tournament because when
we got the bracket, this is the reason we were playing,
to give them one more time.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
You mentioned my guy Brendan Canada. You guys didn't see
this because you were at the game, But I don't
like how they outed what his payout is for this
TVT tournament. What do you mean they outed what they
showed the breakdown of like who gets paid?

Speaker 4 (22:06):
What did they on TV? And they did.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Billy saw this too, and they had like everybody's like
what they make and then like in his own little category,
they had Brendan Canada fifteen thousand, like was the lowest
payout of everybody else.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Now he's getting something there, you go are gonna like, well,
they gotta put that on there, Come on.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
He did attack him with that a little bit. It
had his name and then it said other players, yeah,
head coach, g assistant. He was the only one name
with his selling.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah. I felt like I wasn't fair to call him out.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Oh come on, but you know what, hey, fifteen grand
did not play again? You get hit the free throw
the winning breeze.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
That's true. What you mean, don't he got a game
winner in.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
The ending point?

Speaker 3 (22:42):
So did he have the shoes on the pumas? Could
you get extra money?

Speaker 4 (22:46):
All that right?

Speaker 2 (22:46):
If you have the extra money, you get extra thousand
dollars if you score the eland points, give me those shoes.
All right? Well, take off rank, come back. Go to
the phone lines eight five nine two way two two
eight seven as the Clark's pump shot phone number. We're
looking for our when Marsha was our Don Franklin called,

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Call TJ. He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones. Don't step on TJ's roney. It's really important,
especially today after the assault that happened on one of
the men remembers a KSR Drew.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Called TJ because he'll make them pay. Hey to your

(23:46):
gonna use my Rodney voice. Okay, very pleased with all
the help and support I received. Thanks again for all
your help and support throughout this process.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
You're kind of like Matt Jones. You only have like
one or two voices. Yeah, that was basically Mitch Mcconaughe
was Rodney.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
See what Mitch McConnell has to say about it, Raw,
find your home. Let's doctor morgas take care of their s.
Stockton Mortgage MLS A two five nine equal housing lender.
All right eight five nine two A two two eight seven.
That's our cars. Publish out phone number. Who we got
Matt Patty? Go ahead Patty.

Speaker 6 (24:18):
Hey, this Patty Evans from Campbellsville, And I just want
to say that we were at the Wisconsin game in
twenty fifteen and I moped forever and anytime a car
passed me and they had a Wisconsin license plate, I
hated them. So last night, no, it's pretty bad. But
last night when Aaron Harrison hit that winning shot, he

(24:42):
just took the sting out at Wisconsin Games. So I'm
so glad we were there.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Glad you enjoyed it. There we go, Thank you, Patty,
appreciate it very much. What kind of crowd do you
think Familia will have in Philadelphia? Because the crowds have
been great at Raparina, it was obviously super last night
at Freedom Hall. What kind of crowd you think they'll
have it in Philly?

Speaker 4 (25:00):
It's hard to say. I know there's a lot of
people in the Northeast. You know, it's so easy to
get around up there. Maybe they'll really get behind it
and embrace it. You know he played in Philly. Was
that just last year when we went up there? Yes,
I meant it. Turnout, It's just I don't know how
much people care about TBT. Clearly no one cares about
it as much as I do, because I'm the biggest
law Familiar fan that's ever walked this earth. But I
hope people can make that commitment, and I'll be jealous

(25:21):
of anyone who gets to pull it off.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
I'm happy this is from the Avisian Glass Tech Machine.
I'm happy that this tournament in Lovielle has taken Drew's
focus off of Arkansas.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
I haven't even mentioned Arkansas, but.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
But I wanted to mention the fact. I guess Cayler
Perry said something about big Z today. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
I was trying to read that. Looks like you said
big Z is not allowed to shoot threes. I didn't
read the art. It just came out before the show.
I was trying to play catch up on that. If
that's the case, I feel bad for big Z. That's
what he does.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Yeah, it was Cali Perry at big Z's first game.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Did he miss what it could happen? I mean, that's
that's another case of coaching malpractice if that really is
what he said at that what he's trying to do
not let that guy step out and hit some three.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Wow. I hope that happens for Arkansas, because mean, why
would we want him to shoot three. That's true.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah, let him stay down inside when they play us.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
For sure. Cal did tweet last night that he watched
the whole lot Familiar game, congratulating his guys. You know what,
that's his era. Yeah, so it's cool that he's falling along.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Well, if we talked about that, what if he'd showed
up last night, how do we he's there to support
the Kentucky team, how do we.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
I'd be shocked if he showed up last night, just
given the situation, right, even though those are his former guys. Yeah,
it doesn't feel like, you know, he'd want to try
to take any of the spotlight off those guys by
being in there.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
It's well, the fact that it was in Louisville, not Lecton.
I thought, man, I wasn't gonna be surprised if all
of a sudden the camera pans over and there he
is sitting there.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
There.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
There was Pope there last night.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
No Pope, Mark Fox. I saw Mark Fox, Mark Fox.
Pope could have been there. I didn't see him. I
didn't see every person there, but I saw Mark Fox
sitting with the team.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Because most of the team were all the guys there.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
It looked like a lot of them. They're a little
far from me, but I could see up there Andrew Carr.
I think it's a Karkam But what there's a big group.

Speaker 7 (27:01):
You know.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
We mentioned this briefly the other day, but it's the
one thing I think more people have kind of approached
me about Travis Perry's shooting numbers that are coming out.
It's crazy, Yeah, legendary, fifty nine three pointers from the
corner in a row. Special. He's gonna be spent three
straight days of handing one hundred free throws in a
row for three straight days. I mean that has grabbed
people's attention.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
In the system he's gonna be in, I mean Mark
Pope's system, it's it's it's perfect for players like Travis Perry.
So I'm excited to see what he's gonna do next season.
I'm not saying he's gonna be the next Red Red Shepherd.
Maybe he might be better. I mean, we don't know,
We honestly don't know. But he's he's up for a
special year. Yeah, he said in the interview last week. Yeah,
I got a little hot. Yeah, I'd say hundred rounters

(27:43):
is pretty high. Yeah, that's a pre scorching hot.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
We get interviews today with Trent Noah, Kobe Bryant, and
Jackson Robinson. So the player, those are good guys. Yeah,
I'm gonna head over there after this and do some
talking with some more Cats.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
And Trent Noah is gonna wear number nine.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
He's gonna wear number nine. Little. I think we all
know with that little salute, the number.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Nine, I think exactly we know what that means. I
think that's awesome, you know. And he said something old
this summer that we didn't get enough attention. His family
has had UK football season tickets for sixty two years.
Sixty two years his family we've had UK football season tickets.
That's almost have heard of anybody having season tickets that long.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Yeah, obviously a long time Cats fan, as we already knew.
I'm looking forward to talk to talking to him. Todave
Yet last week with Travis Perry, Travis told us their
roommates and how going through it together, you know, they're
in pretty similar spots, has really helped each other. Knowing
they got to do a little extra work being freshman,
put an extra time. I think they're making each other better.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Well, he's a guy too, that I think fits better
in Stoops. I mean in Pope's system rather than Col's system.
You know, maybe he wasn't gonna be a good fit
when Cows here, but now that Pope's here, I think
Trent Noah can find a spot where he can get
on the floor and be helpful.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Trent know it was gonna be at South Carolina if
cal was here. He didn't even get a phone call,
so he certainly has a better opportunity. Aim for Travis
Perry with Pope's offense getting open shots, Yeah, give me
a saint. You know, I don't know that he'll contribute
a lot right away. Well obviously what he can do
athletically in defense. But a guy that can shoot to
that clip, if you just put him out there, you
can't leave him all right, he can, he can be useful.
So I'm excited to see just how much the how

(29:15):
much run they get right away?

Speaker 2 (29:16):
As freshman eight five nine two two two eight seven.
Who's next? Matt free Bird? Right again? Free Bird?

Speaker 8 (29:24):
Hey, I'm back, fella, Sorry about that.

Speaker 10 (29:27):
I'm killing you. I would be a players to be
a Louisville fan right now, and if I'm the.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Poach A love un till his voice do.

Speaker 12 (29:35):
Not act like that.

Speaker 7 (29:37):
Well, they're going to rate so many steps they're gonna
pute and they're not.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Is what a class?

Speaker 9 (29:45):
Listen?

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Here we go, good word?

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Sure, where we're gonna go with that?

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Yes, I don't think those guys are running bleachers though.
If you're on an alumni team, like, there's only so
much that you're willing to listen to from your a coach.
Girl man, Yeah, if I have a girl, man, I'm
not going after running the bleachers because I spit on somebody.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Well, and there's seasons over, they're done, they won't play
again this time next year. They're done. They're going home now.
I'm gonna watch it on TV eight five nine two
eight oh two two eight seven. That's our cars. Pumpish
out phone number. It's another call up man who we
got Jay?

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Go ahead?

Speaker 7 (30:16):
J Hey guys.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (30:19):
You know last night to Fined for me was like
being a UK fan in Louisville, and you know, outside
of rough, I have more memories of Freedom Hall. I
was just pointing a little bit of one of the
young Center, but I was a clad going into Freedom
Hall because we always had that away game or the
home game we played at Freedom Hall back in the
day I would go to practice as a kid. That
was my second favorite game to watch UK in Freedom

(30:42):
Hall my number one. I was at the Sparks game.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
Oh yeah, I was there. That's part.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
This is je County.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
This is Jane Lyndon, by the way, one of our
great callers. Yeah for guys like you, man, last night
was pretty special.

Speaker 7 (30:55):
So hey, I hope the TVT kind of becomes something.
I hope we win it this year because it's a
cool way to tie together all these one and done players.
The last thing I wanted to say, great job to
all U MAT's been gone, especially my guy Mario.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
Yes, Jay, thank you, I appreciate it. Thank you for
calling in.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
By the way, Jane Lyndon, were all goodwines. You know
the TV team that was here a couple of years
ago that boogie was on. You know, they didn't even
make it out of Lexington. They got beat locally.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
I don't even played at Douglas. It wasn't even Yeah I.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Played at Douglas. I don't even remember that team. Yeah,
I didn't know that was actually a thing.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Well twenty and the guy I don't know who was
a part of the last time around. And I don't
know exactly, but whoever is leading this with twenty, Sam Malone,
the coaches, they put a lot more energy into it
that's ever been behind it. Brittany over there behind the scenes,
I mean they're they're treating this like a professional operation,
whereas before a few alumni teams have been thrown together.

(31:50):
I don't know how much they're really into it, but
as we're seeing this one has been done right.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Everybody gives twenty all the praise. It seems like everybody's like,
twenty did this, twenty put this together, twenty playing, twenty
scheduled everything. He's the one win I got the players,
so kudos to him, and you're ran. Like Jay said,
I hope it now continues. You don't have this, you know,
team that gets together these former players that want to
come back and want to be a part of this team.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
If they won a million dollars, I think it would
be pretty easy convince so be back next year, and
then a couple others will likely join them.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
All right, eight five nine two O two two eight seven.
We'll take our final break, come back our final segment.
We're at the Lexington Tennis Challenger presented by Meridian Wealth Management.
This is a Usta Pro Circuit event. They'll be playing
all day out here. You can buy a pass for
ten dollars and come out and enjoy the tennis all
day long. It's a beautiful complex here at the Hillary
Jay Boon Tennis Center here at the UK. Got a
lot of updates out here. They've got the hospitality tents,

(32:42):
they've got food trucks, they've got you guys said, the
best bathroom you've ever seen. It would your house.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
That's what Billy said.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Billy said, Yeah, I'm raving about the bathroom.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
So Marine and Wealth Management. That's our neighbors downtown at
the studio, right it is.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
That's right. I bet you said that. I didn't forgot
about that. You're right about. There are neighbors in our
office call play always.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
I think I see an open parking spot, but no,
it's one of theirs.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Well, we'll take our break, come back and wrap it
up here. Eight five nine two eight oh two two
eight seven. This is Kentucky's Sports Radio. All right, welcome
back Kentucky's Sports Radio. Our final segment here live at
the Hillary J. Boon Tennis Complex. At the University of Kentucky,
the site of the Lexington Tennis Challenger presented by Meridian
Wealth Management, the USTA Pro Circuit event. Uh you know
they they hadn't see. These gals have been warming up

(33:25):
on the court beside us, and then on the sidewalk
in front of us was another young tennis player that
was doing some drills. You see the drill show.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Oh yeah, I was about to ask you. And it's
bad radio because you can't actually see. But she had
a person that was just throwing tennis balls left right,
left right. She had to scoop them up quickly and
throw them back to the guy. You think you could
do any of that? Oh yeah, you got the agility.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Oh no doubt. Yeah, wait, we'll do it.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
You know Mario's video idea next year, it'd be good content.
All right?

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Who's this?

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Who's this?

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Final segment sponsored by Son Drew?

Speaker 4 (33:53):
Oh, it is sponsored by our good friends at UKFCU.
That's UK Federal Credit Union. That's where I do my banking.
Everyone should do their banking. I love their app. You
can pay bills, check balances with a touch of a button.
Just had a nine month ced mature over there that
was pretty awesome. Or if you're like Matt and you're traveling,
you can use it to locate the nearest fee free
atmk FCU is always with you and available, and the

(34:15):
mobile app just makes banking better. That's UK Federal Credit
Union membership lgbly required, federally insured by NCU.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Way from the Avision Glass text machine, please give a
shout out to lot familiar assistant coach Jazz Ferguson. Yep,
Jazz is from Louisville but played college basketball at Ius
in New Albany. He is the Ius all time leading scorer.
Like that, I didn't know that little Jazz Ferguson. One
more from the Avision Glass Tex machine. Your namesake Ryan

(34:44):
Howard just started her Olympic three on three game at
eleven thirty, So they're playing. The three on three tournament
in the Olympics started just a couple of minutes ago.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting home watching more of
the Olympics. I watched every minute I could up until
last night. Went to Louisville, looking forward to get back
on the couch and see what's next. What do we
talk about this yesterday? And maybe this was common knowledge,
but the USA women haven't lost a game since nineteen
ninety two? What what are what the world? Fifty five?
Fifty six straight? Fifty five?

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Oh yeah, they won again. So fifty six game winning streak.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
I get that. You know, we're a little better up
here in America. I did understand we should be the
favorite every year, but to not lose since Barcelona nineteen
ninety two, that.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Is insane, pretty crazy, crowded winning streak. Did Djokovic Nadal
happen yesterday or is that happening today?

Speaker 4 (35:31):
It was yesterday, and to be honest, I didn't see
a minute of it, even though I was excited about it.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
That's a pretty big matchup early on in the Olympics,
Djokovic playing ned All. We'll see what happened, alright, eight
five nine two eight h two to eight seven. We
got some callers want to get on before we get
out of here. So who we got, Matt.

Speaker 7 (35:47):
Terry?

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Go ahead, Terry, Yeah, Djokovic won.

Speaker 15 (35:52):
Djokovic won that in straight sets.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Okay, all right.

Speaker 15 (35:55):
I got a couple of football things.

Speaker 7 (35:57):
I know, the lot of me taking up most of it.

Speaker 15 (36:01):
But Ryan his Dante or Dane, I know, Barrion and
Dane or the Bell cows at the receiver. But give
us a couple of guys that are not tight ends
that we need to look forward to, maybe being the
slot or get some reps that that people aren't really
talking about. And who is going to be our placekicker

(36:22):
this year? And I'll hang up un listen.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Place kicker? I don't know. As far as receiver that
Anthony Brown Stevens. I think he's going to be the
slot guy, gonna be on the field a lot. They
you know, they loved him last year. He'll be on
the field a lot. And I'm drawing a blank. The
freshman that is behind Dane, big tall guy. They really
like him in the way he's developed. I'm sorry, I'm
drawing a blank. I have to look it up and
maybe get it back to you tomorrow, Terry. But yeah,

(36:47):
like you said, Dane and barryon Lord willing they stay healthy,
They're gonna get the majority of the of the receptions
and the reps this year for sure.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Yeah, Brown Stevens is a good answer, Macklin added to
the receiver room. I don't know we've mentioned this before
with this video game. I'm worried it's setting the wrong expectations.
Nanthony Brown Stevens is a great slot on the video game.
So hopefully he sports knows what they're doing and he
has a big season coming ahead. But yeah, I'd say
that's the name in that room.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Whose next math? Get another caller up, mo, go ahead, mo.

Speaker 16 (37:17):
Hey, you were talking about Trenton ol having use family
having all those season tickets for sixty two years.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Yes, sir, the last I'm missaken.

Speaker 16 (37:25):
His grandfather is Kerky Bryant who played up there and
he earned his sixties and he took over the head
coaching job of Whitney County nineteen sixty five. I played
for him under sixty five and.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Sixty six, and maybe, yeah, that would make sense. Why
if he was a coach at Kentucky while they've had
season tickets every year since. Oh he was a mean
sucker too, all right, I appreciate that. To the phone call.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
The kicker is Alex Rayner, by the way.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
Alex Rainer. Oh he's back. That's right, I forgot he
came back. Yeah, the kicker from last year, he really
had a good year. He kind of we didn't get
talked about much, but he had a really good year.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
Yeah, finally some consistency in the kicking eight.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Five, nine, two to eighty seven. Man, Who's next, Super Dave?
Go ahead, Super Dave, you know with Super Mario. Hey, sell,
y'all doing good? How you doing, Dave?

Speaker 12 (38:17):
I'm doing good. Uh from Louisville, and I didn't get
to go to the game, but enjoyed it.

Speaker 4 (38:22):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (38:23):
I got I got a lot of family that's Alesville fans.
So I'm not gonna rub it in too much because
I don't do that. But I wanted to ask you
about something that was in the Louisville paper yesterday about
the Kentucky football is his coach Stoop's upset with the
n I L and the way it the way it is.
He says he's basically feels like he's by himself trying

(38:44):
to support a whole n I L thing and everything
that they're.

Speaker 7 (38:49):
Trying to do. Just wanted to hear y'all's comments on that.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Thank you appreciate it. Yeah, we didn't really talk much
about Stoop's comments where he said that where he's like,
you know, he's kind of tired of it, tired of
the recruiting hassle because you gotta recruit freshmen. You have
to recruit transfer players, and you have to re recruit
your own players. Yeah, you don't think Dion Walker had
chances to leave. He got to recruit those guys stay
back and Stoops did kind of say some things that Man,

(39:13):
it sound like he's kind of tired of messing with
and dealing with it.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Yeah, he spoke again yesterday, kind of cleaned up the
comments from the spring that came out. But yeah, he's
talking about how he has to do a lot of
fundraising on his own and it's just a new part
of the job that these guys you never had to
do before. It used to be you know, you got
your team, you're you're coaching. Now he's mentioned, you know,
I got to go out and meet people about every
night just to make sure we're still getting money to
keep a team together. And that's not including meeting with

(39:36):
my own players and re recruiting them at the end
of the year.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Yeah, I think that's the hassle where you got to
meet with boosters and donors and people trying to get
some more n al money so you can give up
to you your new players that are coming in. And
then I think Nick Saban said as much. That's one
of the reasons why he got out. You know he
didn't he was kind of not into that and didn't
want to do all that extra stuff you gotta do
to be the head coach now of a program.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
Yeah, Saban said, you know, Saban's been out of the
long he's the greatest. And he said the conversations at
the end of the year stopped being about football. It
was just how much money am I getting. It was like,
that's not why I'm here. I'm here to coach, not
sit there and handle contracts and make sure these guys
get paid. Not against them paying. He's just saying, that's
not what my job I want.

Speaker 7 (40:13):
It to be.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
I want to give a little PSA. Antonio Reeves is
having a basketball camp this Saturday. It's local. You can
probably look up on his social media, but he is
having a basketball camp. I think some of the current
players are going to be out there helping with them
and at this camp. So, uh, just check it out
and I'm sure it be fun event and they'll probably
have a great time. So Antonio Reeves having a basketball

(40:37):
camp on Saturday, and then Shannon, you and I are
loading up. We're getting ready to go and do a
TV commercial.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
The Moonshine Trail. What you mentioned last week, I didn't
where were supposed to talk about it or not? Hey,
you know what, people are going to see it eventually.
So yeah, have you practiced your your words at all
that you're supposed to say?

Speaker 2 (40:52):
You told me we have a script we're supposed to know.
I looked at it the first time when you just
showed it to me.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Yeah, okay, well this is We're gonna be here all
day then.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Right, we have lines we have to memorize. Yeah, the
tele commercial works. I mean I thought I thought I
teleproper up there for you. I just thought I had
to go sit on a big donut and eat donut
like we did for our super Bowl. We'll take it
line by line, I'm sure like that. Hopefully it doesn't
take as long as it did to shoot that super
Bowl commercial. And so we're going to Winchester shoot this

(41:20):
commercial for the Moonshine Trail. Uh you got a haircut?

Speaker 3 (41:23):
I mean, oh yeah, I'm ready to go.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
He's ready to go. See.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
I had to, you know, make sure I look good
for the for the commercial.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
Yeah, I'm lucky. I took a shower this morning. I
haven't got a head cut, looking good, right, all right?
Tom Hart is back in the big chair tomorrow. His
last day. Been so much fun with with Myron and
Tom filling in and our guest hosts we've had. And
then Matt comes back on Monday. He comes back actually

It's been a long it's been a long, A little excited.
I'm ready for Matthew Harper Jones to come back.

Speaker 3 (41:59):

Speaker 2 (42:02):

Speaker 4 (42:02):
One more?

Speaker 2 (42:03):
