Welcome to Dodgers on Deck. Now your host walking you
up to first pitch. Tim Kiss Hi.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Everybody, and'll welcome in to my Wrongo Casino. Dodgers on
deck as your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers back at
it on this beautiful, warm Sunday afternoon, sixty eight and
forty nine on the season, first place a top the
NL West, three game up on the San Diego Padres
going into play today after dropping two of three to
(01:04):
the Saint Louis Cardinals. The Dodgers now wrap up this
home stand with the chance for the sweep of the
Toronto Blue Jays. Yeah, the first place Toronto Blue Jays
Tyler Glass Now on the mount of this series finale.
First pitch from Dodger Stadium is coming up at one ten.
Over the next hour here on Morogo Casino, Dodgers on deck,
we got a lot to get to. You're gonna hear
(01:25):
from the Dodger manager Dave Roberts. Coming up in about
twenty five minutes. We'll dive deeper to this pitch heat matchup.
David ve Seg goes one on one with Dodger outfielder
Alex Call that's coming up at twelve forty five. We
got your Dodgers magical moment. We got the latest of
the Dodgers' injury news, including some updates on Dodger relievers.
Shortly we'll visit with Sports Net LA's Kirsten Watson, and
(01:46):
in just a few minutes we head out to the
Gallpin Motors broadcast booth with Steven Nelson and Rick Monday. Well,
last night it was all about Blake Snell. Snell Zilla
five shutout Indians on the mount last night. The left
hand struck out ten along the way, allowed just three
hits over those five innings of work. The Dodgers offense
(02:06):
starting to heat up here in early August, and it
got started with Max Monsey.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
In the fourth he a one month sy it's it
down the left field line that is going.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
To get out of here. Max Monsey with.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Some opposite field pop, got over the short wall into
the first couple of rows, a two run blast to
break the ice, number sixteen on the season for Monsey.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Two nothing la. Max Munsey goes opposite way over the
short wall, just inside the foul pole on the left
field line, his sixteenth of this season. That two run
home run got the Dodgers on the board and got
them going offensively. In the fifth show, Hey Otany with
a absolute blast to center field, his fortieth of the season,
(02:59):
the fourth time in his career that he has hit
at least forty home runs and it's only August tenth.
He's got a lot more to go here in the
twenty twenty five season. In the sixth inning, Dodgers up
three to nothing, where they really busted it open against
the Blue Jays bullpen. Dalton Rushing got it going with
the two run single to center. Then with runners on
second and third, the Blue Jays elected to walk show.
(03:21):
Hey o'tani to load the bases because they wanted a
piece of Mookie Bets in field.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
In for the blue Jays, they're loaded with nobody out.
Dominga Is Tibets first pitch.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Line drive off the glove of Penneda. Third HiT's in
the left field and that's a base hit. Freeland scores.
So Tuda's rushing Mookie Bets makes.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
It seven to nothing, two run single for Mookie Betts.
He makes them regret that decision. RBI's fifty two and
fifty three on the season, and they weren't down. Andy
PAHs with a two run double to left. The Dodgers
erupted with six runs in the bottom half of the
(04:01):
sixth sitting. The Dodgers go on and beat the Blue
Jays last night by a final of nine to one.
Last night. Everybody contributing show Hey, Mookie, Max Munsey, Andy
Pajs Dalton rushing all driving in runs last night for
the Dodgers. Blake Snell the five shutout innings. He picks
up the w. He's now two to one on this
(04:22):
season since coming back from the injury. Dodgers with the
win improved to sixty eight and forty nine. They remained
three games up on the Padres, who came back and
got a win last night. So going into play the
Dodgers three games up in the division, they look to
get the series sweep over the first place Toronto Blue Jays.
Tyler Glass now on the mound, first pitch of one
ten and with more we head out to the Gallpin
(04:43):
Motors broadcast both this base. See good afternoon the Stephen
Nelson and Rick Monday guys.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Thank you Tim.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
We are back at Dodgers Stadium on a Sunday afternoon,
a getaway day for the Toronto Blue Jays and a
big day for the Dodgers. Is they have a chance
to sweep the best record in the American League out
of Dodgers Stadium mode. The last couple of games, the
Dodgers have looked like the Dodgers, and there's been a.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Life to that dugout, a life to.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
The team on the field, and certainly some energy in
the stadium to boot.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Absolutely, And we talked about electricity a couple of nights ago.
We finally saw it after an absence after a considerable
number of games. The Dodgers now still three up and
in front of the Sandigo and Andres in the Western Division,
and for Toronto holding onto a three game lead against
the Boston Red Sox in American League Eastern Division. But
(05:34):
for Toronto, you know, you start to look at they've
now lost eight of the last ten games against teams
other than the Rockies, who they just absolutely annihilated coming
here to Los Angeles, and they've been outscored in that
period of time as well. A couple of things the
Dodgers have done well. Obviously, they've been much more patient
I think as hitters, which the Blue Jays have not,
(05:54):
which kind of turns flips the coin, because the Blue
Jays this year have been one of the most Haitian
teams in baseball. The Dodgers now getting back to that
situation from an offensive standpoint, And isn't it nice to
have some healthy pitchers coming back, including Glass out pitching
today he makes another start. We saw snail pitching last
night's ball game, and the bullpen now gets a little
(06:16):
restipent because the starters beginning to stretch out their length.
Speaker 6 (06:20):
Well, what have we been talking about the whole year?
It's like, well, the Dodgers in first place, despite the
fact that they haven't played their best baseball despite the
fact that they haven't gotten all on the same page.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
It's been the hitting, it's been the pitching, it's been
the bullpen.
Speaker 6 (06:31):
It's been the pitching, it's been the starter, it's been
a hitting back and forth they've gone all year long.
These are the first two games in succession anyway in
a long time ball where it's felt like a complete
total team effort.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah, we saw some flashes of it. In fact that
we go back to this series, you know, the Dodgers
have not been knocking the cover off the ball with opportunities. Therefore,
for sixteen runners in scoring position, the Blue Jays are
just two for fourteen. But one thing's the Dodgers have
been able to do. They've been able to shut down
the big bets. The numbers three, four, and five hitters
for the Blue Jays in this series combined just two
(07:08):
for twenty two, and they've been swinging and missing a lot.
So this Dodger ball club, I think they're feeling their oats.
If you're going to a saying right now.
Speaker 6 (07:16):
It's a really encouraging series for the Dodgers because it's
a potential World Series preview. These two teams have been
that good they are that talented. And the Dodgers, of
course not done with the series. They want to finish
it strong and complete their first sweep since they took
care of the White Sox here in La at the
beginning of the month of July. Eric Lower, he's been
tough on the Dodgers in his career. We'll talk about that,
(07:38):
Tim and some other keys to the game the next
time we visit with mom.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
All right, thank you, Nelly. Dodgers erupting last night for
nine runs on ten of hits. That is the ARCO
play of the game, ron to by ARCO Quality, top
tier gas for a less show. Hey o, Tani win
deep Max months he win deep. Mookie Betts driving and runs.
The offense clicking right now, and the pitching not too
bad as well. All right, counting you down to first pitch.
(08:02):
Dodger fans, get your game day meal on a Shaky's
Pizza parler or are your Shaky's Pizza Chicken at Mojo's
right now at Shaky's dot com. We're off and running
here on Dodgers on Deck. Coming up, you'll hear from
the manager Dave Roberts. We'll check it with the David
vat say, we'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. What
up next? Your Otani rewind and we visit with sports
and at Las Kirston Watson. That's off coming up as
(08:24):
we lead jump to first pitch on this Sunday Dodgers
and Blue Jays, thanks for being with us. I'm Tim Kase.
It's the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunt game on your home
for La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
It's the Dodgers and Blue Jays on this Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Class now Eric Lower. The pitching matchup in this
series finale, Dodgers going for the sweet over the first
place Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch coming up at one ten.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
This is the Otani ree.
Speaker 6 (08:59):
Why runner on first, no score, bottom three, first pitch
to Otani hit hard the right center field. That's down
for a base hit cut off there by bar show
rushing will head from first to third again, he's off
the mound, steps on with really four seconds to go.
Here's the three to one pitch and now Tani boss one.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Dead center field way back wake on there was zero
dout where that ball was going off the better show. Hey,
Old Tani, it is number forty show.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Hey, Old Tani. Two for four last night a single
and that solo home run also on base will be
a walk, the intentional walk that Mookie bets made him
paid for part of that six run six inning last night,
home run number forty for show. Hey. As the Dodgers
blew out the Blue Jays nine.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
To one, this is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Hey, Kirson down Joyce has brought you by Cars for Kids,
Ready to donate that old car? Call each seven seven
Cars for Kids right now. Friendly agents standing by to
take your donations. That's cars with a K to donate
your car today, all right, cirisen Before we get to
Tyler Glass. Now, who's the starter today for the Dodgers.
This Dodgers team panic mode a few days ago, kind
of feels like they're hit their stride again. They really do.
Speaker 7 (10:21):
And even when you talk to everyone, whether you ask
about the rotation being healthy and kind of getting these
really quality starts from Clayton Kershot, Tyler Glass, the list
go Blake Snell yesterday. It feels like the list goes
on and on you know, that's been huge. Yes, we
saw the bullpen kind of recently struggling here at home.
They were excellent on the road trip. But now we
look at the game last night able to get back
(10:43):
on track, having some clean performances, whether it's from Brock Stewart,
Blake Trining. So then you have that aspect of it,
and then it's the offense really one through nine. We
know that Freddy Freeman has truly been on a tear.
We know that Liill Smith has been consistent all season long.
But now for Mookie Betts having himself now a four
game hitch streak, then you have Shoheo Tani. We've seen
(11:03):
the power. He now has forty hoo runs on the
season for the third consecutive year. So with things like that,
it's just up and down the order. You're seeing things
start finally coming together. And so Dave Roberts was just
saying earlier today that just the quality of out bats
right now, we're really good. Of course, rotation and the
bullpen kind of being in a really solid spot, and
so you're seeing complete baseball games, and that is what
(11:26):
is being represented in the box score. It's being represent
in the runs on the board. So right now you're
seeing everything coming together. And yes, as much as there's
still time in the regular season, we are starting to
get closer and closer to October, and so you want
to start getting guys in rhythm and timing and stuff
right now. And so we're starting to see that, especially
against a team like the Blue Jays and already picking
(11:46):
up the series win. Looking for this weep that's hugely
going against a top team in the American League.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Today on the mount and the finale is the Dodgers
go for this week. Tyler Glassnaw, who since coming off
the injured list, is one of the best pitchers of baseball.
Speaker 7 (11:59):
Yeah, he's there's no doubt about it. He's been absolutely excellent.
And with Tyler when he came back, of course, the
biggest thing was being healthy. He is someone who is
a very he's mechanical, he's about his feel, and so
for him, right now, the health is not something that
he's thinking about. It's just about how the ball is
playing and how he's executing his pitches, and right now
(12:19):
it's about just like not overthinking it. He's made it
very clear that you know, there were times where he
would just feel like his body wasn't in sync, and
then that would just it kind of was like a
spiraling effect of just one thing and another, and then
he would kind of just start feeling a bit frazzled
on the mound. Whereas he's now in a position where
he's not overthinking it, he's made the adjustments to you know,
(12:41):
how he's landing off the mound. He had kind of
how he had moved his back that is, was leading
to the pressure on his shoulder that ultimately put him
on the eyel and so now he's just I'm kind
of he's past all of that and he's just about,
I just have to go out there and compete and
be aggressive and go from pitch one. And so we're
starting to see that and you're seeing how which just
kind of he's going into I want to be ready
(13:02):
to be a part of this team come the postseason.
Obviously last year he had to sit down, he was
sitting it out. So he's just in that framework right
now and it's really it's working out really well for him.
He's feeling really good and he's just looking to keep
it going, to have a strong second half of the
season and hopefully a really successful postseason run.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Hopefully he can continue that today. Kirston, we appreciate it. Well,
check in with you after the game. Still to come.
Here on Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll dive deeper
into this bitching matchup. David Vats goes one on one
with Alex Called Dodger leftfielder in the lineup today. Up next,
so we'll get you an injury report, and we hear
from the manager himself, Dave Roberts. It's the Dodgers and
the Blue Jays on this hot Sunday afternoon, first pitch
(13:39):
and one ten. I'm Tim Kats's the world champion Los
Angeles Dodgers Audio.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
No, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
On Deck on your home for the Blue.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
All season long.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Sunday afternoons.
We leave you up to first pitch, Dodgers and the
Blue Jays, Morongo Casino Resort and spat a Grand Slam
for good times. Tyler Glass now and Eric Lauer. The
pitching matchup, first pitch coming up at one ten.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
He's the LA Dodger.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Injury report is that in my UCLA Healthy official medical
partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Roki Sasaki is trending
in the right direction through a sim game. Is going
to go out to OKC and pitch in a minor
league rehab assignment. Key k Hernandez doing baseball activities. He
is training in the right direction, as are three different
Dodger relievers Michael Kopek, Kirby Yates, Tanner, Scott all throwing,
(14:35):
all trending towards returns hopefully fingers crossed later on this month.
All right, let's head back out to Dodger Stadium as
we check in with the Dodger skipper.
Speaker 8 (14:45):
The questions for.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave?
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Can you talk about the pressure.
Speaker 9 (14:51):
In the dugouts with Dave Roberts just to kind of
build off what we've done, what he's done. I think
he's gonna really spot physically, mentally, emotionally and just continue to,
you know, build off that confidence that he that he has.
Speaker 10 (15:11):
Right now, we have to talk about.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
How obviously you want to get going at the right time,
how important just is this.
Speaker 7 (15:18):
Month of August as you all are coming together as
a collective and putting together just really complete baseball games.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
It's important.
Speaker 10 (15:26):
This is the time that we've got to, you know, hone,
our focus, mind the little things, which there's certain things
when you watch us nightly, there's things that we can
get better at, need to get better at. I think
certainly the pitching, the good quality of starting pitching has
certainly helped. Defensively, I like where we're at, and then
(15:48):
I think the ad bats have been considerably better. And
so as a result, we're seeing some runs on the
board yesterday because.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
This workload the seasors, I've kind of.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Talk the uh.
Speaker 10 (16:01):
Maybe a little bit of both, but you know, Yoshi
feels good and you know he's always in favor or okay,
bless you or okay with an extra day, So that
was kind of the genus behind that.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, the way he's pitched right.
Speaker 9 (16:19):
Rotation does or does that comp rotation the guys started
the day?
Speaker 10 (16:23):
Yeah, yeah, I think, you know, I think for us,
I think that we can look at it that way,
and you know, we're long ways from the postseason, but
I think kind of looking at our rotation right now
as it stands with six guys, I feel good about
every single guy that's taking them ount that particular day.
(16:44):
So I don't think it's, you know, one ace versus
the other, because I think that each day, you know, man,
I feel it, you know, really confident.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yeah, I should feel confident. This Dodger's pitching staff getting
healthy and they're all pitching well here in early August.
As we get tenue here on Dodgers on deck, we
check in with the David vat say get you all
the latest as we're leading you up to first pitch
on this Sunday afternoon Dodgers and Blue Jays, first pitch
of one ten. I'm Tim Kase's world champion Los Angeles
Dodgers in that one.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
As we were saying, this is Marongo Casino, Dodgers on
deck on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Dodgers and Blue Jays were wrapping up this three game
interleague series. Tyler Glass now Eric Loud the pitching match up.
First pitch from the ravine set for one ten.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on deck.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
I accept everybody for who they are.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
This is Dodger insider David all Right, DV.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
This Dodgers team overall feels like they're clicking right now,
And I think the big reason why it starts really
with the starting pitching has been very good this weekend.
Speaker 8 (17:54):
Yeah, it really has tim And you know, Dave Roberts
said after the game yesterday, he believes that Dodgers have
an opportunity now with their starting staff pitching the way
it is and as whole as it is, to be
able to rattle off and extended winning streak. And that's
where winning streak starts, with your starting pitching and with
your defense.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
And if you look at the.
Speaker 8 (18:16):
Last couple of turns with this rotation being healthy, it's
absolutely dominant. Clayton Kershaw twelve innings, one run, seven strikeouts,
Blake Snell ten innings, eighteen strikeouts, Yamamoto five and two
thirds scoreless. Glass Now who's pitching today second time around.
His last starts seven innings, allow just one run, had
(18:38):
seven strikeouts, Otani dominant, Sheethan dominant.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
And five scoreless.
Speaker 8 (18:43):
So there is reason to believe that if the Dodgers
can get a glass Now type of start today, they
can sweep the Blue Jays and head to Anaheim with
the possibility of having the opportunity to sweep a three
game series there and be red hot when they welcomed
the Padres to town next Friday.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
You mentioned Blake Snell last night, David, he was really
good the louts just the three hits, struck out ten.
The pitch count got a little high on him, but man,
he was really good last night.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
His changeup was outstanding.
Speaker 8 (19:16):
His fastball command, he said, it wishes that it would
have been a little bit better. And what's scary for
the rest of the league is he hasn't had the
feel for his curveball consistently. Once he gets that all
of a sudden, now the league is in bigger trouble.
And I think we all should keep in mind that
the Blue Jays are the team in Major League Baseball
(19:38):
this year that has struck out the fewest amount of times.
Blake Snell struck him out ten times, got eighteen swings
and misses, and I think we all should should keep
in mind that Blake Snell had to pull a rookie
catcher along for five innings. It wasn't Will Smith behind
the plate, it was Dalton Rushing. And it feels like
Rushing was getting an education not only in the game
(20:00):
yesterday and in the dugout, but also this morning. In
the clubhouse because Blake Snell had the iPad out. They
were going over game tape, and I'm sure Blake Snell
is showing him for the possibility.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Of next Saturday. This is what I need.
Speaker 8 (20:15):
You need to start reading my body language a little
bit better. And I go back to an interview I
just saw with David Cone where he said he was
used to throwing a veteran catcher like Joe Girardi. He
knew his body language, he knew his stairs. But then
when Jorge Pisado started catching David Combe, Pasada didn't really
understand the stairs, the body language, and it took some time.
(20:38):
But seeing Blake Snell in the clubhouse today really giving
Dalton Rushing a tutorial just shows who Blake is in
the next level thinking, because he does have youth league
teams and he loves coaching baseball, and it feels like
he really is embracing trying to teach the game to
a guy that's learning it behind the plate.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
That the reason why he's a how many cy Young
Awards has he got to two times to two times
cy Young Award questions?
Speaker 8 (21:05):
Last night they were acting like it was his first
start in the big League.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Show the guys some respect.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Put a little respect on that name, all right, DV.
We appreciate it. DA was brought to you by the
twenty twenty five for f one fifty from California's best
selling truck Brand's time to see Ford in a new light.
Ford for America, from America. Coming up here on Dodgers

deeper into this pitchy matchup. But I'm next you Dodgers
magical moment is the Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Hot Dog who wants the hot good.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
It's time for the Hawfing Magical Moment. Ditch Magical presented
by Hawby Hot Dogs.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Well the Dodgers taking on the Blue Jays. We go
back to August twenty first, twenty nineteen, pre COVID Dodgers
playing host of the Blue Jays. It was Dodgers up
one to nothing in the ninth inning when ken Lee Jansen,
on in the ninth inning, gave up a solo home
run that tied the game in one extra ratings. They
went Pedro Bias pitched a clean top of the tenth inning.
(22:41):
In the bottom of the tenth inning, Dodgers and Blue
Jays tied at one when Max Munsey walked it off.
Speaker 11 (22:46):
We're tied at one, won out nobody. On bottom of
the ten, Nasa delivers and Monsey with a fly ball
fifty right center field. It is on its way and
Mounsey has walked it off, his thirty third home run
of the year. Whittles the Dodgers magic number down to fifteen.
(23:10):
They're forty games over five hundred. With the Yankees losing tonight,
the Dodgers have the best record in baseball forty over
five hundred and eighty four and forty four monthly.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
The winner.
Speaker 11 (23:25):
He's getting pounded at home plate by his jubilant mates.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
There was the walkoff home run for Max Munsey in
twenty nineteen. Dodgers, one of the best teams in baseball
that year, unfortunately fell early in the playoffs to the
Washington Nationals. This his Hofey Magical Boman, brought you by
Hopey hot Dogs. Hofey so Cow's local treasure for nearly
one hundred years. Hompy hot Dogs, local and so great.

Speaker 8 (24:47):
I know it's hard to make overarching statements during a
baseball season, but it feels like we have seen the
real Dodgers the last two games.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
I agree one hundred percent. One of the things that
Stephen Nelson and I were talking about the last couple
of games, we've seen some electricity, and that's a good
sign because we talked so many times about look electricity
with ball clubs. It's not like the light switch. You
cannot walk over to the wall circuit and say, okay,
let's turn it on, let's turn it off, let's turn
it back on. It doesn't happen that way. And now
(25:17):
with this ball club, it looks like they're really caught
up because they got sick and tired of saying, hey,
wait a minute, early part of a July nine game lead.
Then they came into a last night's ball game it
was a three game lead. Well, both the Dodgers and
the pres won, so it remains at three. But this
is a different look at this Dodger ball club right now,
(25:37):
and a different look in a very positive direction.
Speaker 8 (25:40):
I wonder if after Wednesday's disappointing loss, frustrating loss, if
the Dodgers took inventory of the way they're playing.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Yeah, you're using the word inventory. I'll use another word anger,
and that is something that you can channel. If you
know how to channel. You can use anger as a motivation.
And sometimes it doesn't work for everyone. Some guys don't
know how to challenge it as far as the channel
the anger, because anger itself is kind of a negative
(26:10):
to begin with. I'm talking about from an emotional standpoint,
is you want to break out and do something differently.
Quite frankly, we may be seeing that with Mooky Betts.
I don't know how he channels things internally. He's a
very private guy when it comes to that. He does
not want you to know what his thoughts are. And
I understand it and respect it because a long time
(26:30):
ago made the determination I didn't want people to understand
on the field what I may be feeling, regardless if
there's a hurricane that's going on inside or not. And
that's why you don't want the competition to be able
to read exactly where you are from a mental standpoint,
an emotional standpoint. But I think this ball club right now, David,
I hope this is the beginning of really great things
(26:52):
to come as a get down, because you know we're
approaching that area now. You know we've got what less
than fifty fifty days left in the regular season.
Speaker 8 (27:01):
After the game last night, Dave Roberts hinted that the
starting pitching being healthy and pitching to their capabilities can
allow the Dodgers now to have an extended winning streak.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
And with some guys that are getting close to coming
off the injured list, out of the bullpen is going
to save some arms because you know, as you enter
the month of August, this is kind of a tired
bullpen and they're getting a little bit of a respite
now with some guys understanding, look, we're getting some reinforcements
back to healthy guys, and it's going to change. I
think the overall scope of the look of the bullpen
(27:34):
very soon, the look of the starting rotation a little
bit more. I mean, you look at what glasnow has
done since he has come back. You look at Snell
last night and what he was able to do. Those
are two guys didn't have there for a long period
of time.
Speaker 8 (27:47):
Hey, Rick, going back to what you said about maybe
some possible anger within some of the Dodgers or as
the group. I remember listening to Vince Scully. He said
he never saw a baseball player play well when.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
He was angry? Can you play baseball when you're angry?
Speaker 2 (28:02):
If I can tell you're angry, that means you're leading
it come out? The question is inside what motivates you?
Is it anger? Is it challenge? Is it the fact
that you want to say, Hey, wait a minute. That
guy doesn't believe that I can do it, That team
doesn't believe that I can do it. I'm going to
show them. Everybody responds differently. Everybody has a different way
(28:23):
that we reach down and grab motivation. What channel are
we getting that motivation from? And then the other part,
too is if I can read you like a book
and I can tell you're angry, I've got a pretty
good heads up on you.
Speaker 11 (28:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
You can exploit that.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Yeah, Yeah, especially if you're a hitter, because angry hitters
are normally over anxious.
Speaker 8 (28:41):
Hey, good to know, Rick, Thanks a lot. We don't
know what you're feeling today. It's a great Sunday, though.
We'll check in with you and Stephen Nelson a little
bit later. Tim will send it back to you.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
I know you're feeling good today, David, after the last
night and snell Zilla's performance. It's the Dodger game plan.
What's your game plan? I'm about starting your future to
California Community College. Financial Aid's available to help you with tuition, books,
and sometimes even the red It's time to take that
next big step. Classes can fill quickly. Fall semesters right
around the corner. So enrolled today and I can go
(29:11):
to college dot com. Still to come. Here on Morocco Casino,
Dodgers on Deck will dive deeper into this pitching matchup.
Rick will be back with Stephen Nelson those keys to
the game. But up next we go high and tight
with Dodger leftfielder Alex call in the lineup today Dodgers
Blue Jays first bitch of one ten, I'm Tim Kates'
is the world champion? Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
As we were saying yes, is Marongo Casino Dodgers on
Tech on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
It's the Dodgers and the Blue Jays on this Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Glass, now Eric Lower, the bitching matchup, First Bitch,
coming up at one Ted. Dodgers Baseball is brought to
you by Shaky's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza partner of
the Dodgers audio broadcast. When it's game day, it's group
day at Shakies dot Com.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
And now what will likely be vast fielding insults from
a Dodger player.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
It's an engagement of endearment.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
This is high and tight.
Speaker 8 (30:13):
The Dodgers and Blue Jays are wrapping up the three
game series, and we're here with today's starting left fielder,
Alex Call Alex, thanks a lot for the time, appreciate it. Yeah,
of course, Hey, I had to check out again. I
had a double check what corner outfield spot you were
in today, because you could play all over.
Speaker 12 (30:29):
Yeah, wherever they need me, I'll be ready and you know,
love tracking them down out there.
Speaker 8 (30:36):
A lot of people may take for granted that left
field is actually a more challenging spot than what it
appears on the surface. What's the difference between tracking a
fly ball and left field compared to right field.
Speaker 12 (30:48):
Yeah, I think the righty hitters seem to have a
little just a little bit more top spin. It feels
like it happens more often. So you just gotta be
ready for anything. And that's why you have to take
your reads and VP really seriously, go after them hard
and give a good effort, because that's the best time
you can practice.
Speaker 8 (31:06):
And especially on a day like today, similar to Wednesday's
day game. Not a cloud in the sky today, Alex, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
Not a cloud in the sky.
Speaker 12 (31:13):
And also I've found that, you know, these seats are
tough to see, so just having the experienced last game,
it was like, man, I'm really I'm grinding to see
these balls like as clearly as I need to, So
that presents a little bit of a challenge. But you know,
the more we play out here and I'll get more
comfortable and just continue to track them down.
Speaker 8 (31:33):
Is it the seats right behind home plate that make
it difficult or is it those yellow colored seats?
Speaker 12 (31:38):
It's the yellow colored glare from the sun. So like
most of the time the seats are pretty full here,
but if you have a few that are open, you know,
it comes off and it presents a challenge.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Alex call is our guest.
Speaker 8 (31:51):
He's in left field today for the Dodgers, as Eric
Lower is on the mound for the Blue Jays. You've
had a chance now to kind of get your feet
wet settled with the Dodgers. What's the experience been like
and actually being in that home clubhouse to have all
those resources.
Speaker 12 (32:07):
Yeah, it's been a blast so far. Guys have been
great resources are there. Just trying to blend in with
everybody's routine and get my routine in and get a
feel for, you know, how we do things over here,
and and then just take my game, my my profile,
who I am as a person, and just mingle and
gel with everybody. So it's been a good transition so far.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Have you had a.
Speaker 8 (32:30):
Chance to experience that machine they have in the clubhouse
where it simulates the picture on a screen and the
characteristics of their pitch.
Speaker 12 (32:38):
Yeah, that's the traject I've been I've been waiting for that,
you know. I I heard about it when it first
came out, you know however many years ago, and just
was you know, waiting for the day because I think
baseball is a game unique where we actually train easier
than what the game is, and I think most of
the times in sports you want to try to make
the game easy and make practice as hard as possible.
(33:01):
So I've always felt like with baseball there's a lack
of that, and so with this machine, it actually challenges
the environment to where it makes it equal to the game,
if not tougher, and if as long as you have
that mindset of, hey, I'm preparing myself for the game,
I'm putting my mental reps, my physical reps in here
in the cage so that can look great on the field.
That's the approach I take with it, and I've been,
(33:23):
you know, extremely happy to be able to use that
and utilize it.
Speaker 8 (33:28):
Would you say that advanced technology has helped you get
to this point in your career, even though you were
doing a lot of it on your own.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (33:36):
I mean I try to leave no stone unturned. I
you know, I've had to grind my way every way,
every way possible. You know, I think I'm a I'm
a great ballplayer, but I certainly you know, if you
look at my teammate like James Wood, you know, he
jumps off the page with his size and ability to
(33:56):
hit the ball all over the field with power. You know,
that's that's not necessarily me, But that doesn't mean I
cannot carve out a great career for myself, a great
role for myself, a great you know, type of ballplayer
that I am. So for me, the taking advantage of
every single thing possible has always been what I've been doing.
And some places have more than others. Clearly here there's
(34:20):
everything that you want, and so I'm gonna probably take
advantage of it all.
Speaker 8 (34:23):
Alex Call is our guest in front of first pitch
between the Dodgers and Blue Jays, and going back to
twenty seventeen twenty eighteen, the identity of the Dodgers under
Dave Roberts has been passing that baton. Do you feel
like the last couple of games you've seen that, And honestly,
the skin of report on Alex Call is you're that
type of guy, grind out at bats, don't give away
(34:45):
at bats, and pass that baton.
Speaker 12 (34:47):
Yeah, I mean, it's just crazy. How you know there
could be two outs nobody on. But it's like you
could have four guys on in a row and it
just you pass the baton.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
On the next guy.
Speaker 12 (34:58):
The next guy takes quality of bat and that's really
the market the mark of a championship team, and you
definitely see that here with the guys, and so yeah,
that's always been what I've been focused on, trying to
get on base for the next guy and make it
tough on the pitch here, make them work, make them
a little bit tired, and just kind of be a pest.
And that's always been my approach, my mindset, and so
(35:19):
happy to fit in here nicely with how we're trying
to go about our offense.
Speaker 8 (35:24):
Love it, Alex, thanks a lot for the time. I
know it's been a small sample size, but the times
you've been in there, it's been fun to watch you
and I know you fit the piece to this puzzle
really well.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
So thank you for the time.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 12 (35:36):
Appreciate that a lot.

seam fastball, guy cutter, curved slider. Last time out six innings,
one run, seven hits, four strikeouts. It a win over
the Rockies against the Dodgers seven to two, they two

Tyler Glass Now in the Mountain for the Dodgers one

Last time out seven innings, one run, three hits, seven
strikeouts and a no decision against the Cardinals. Glass Now
has recorded fifty six strikeouts and forty seven innings this season,
and he's holding opponents to a one sixty eight batting average.
In ten career starts against the Blue Jays, he is
one in fourth a six point fifteen roray. He last
(37:47):

final time before first pitch Steven Nelson, Rick Monday.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
Guys, All right, TC one more time at Dodgers Stadium
with alongside Rick Monday. As we get closer to first
pitch in this series finale, the Dodgers trying to sweep
the Blue Jays out of Los Angeles. Tyler Glass now
for LA and the left tender Eric Lauer for Toronto.
And well, you may mention to this in our in
our last conversation, how the Dodgers have started to click
(39:17):
as the starting rotation has gotten healthy. Since Blake's now returned,
it's had a much different look.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
A much different look, and I think the priorities have
really been able to shut it down, including if we
look overall, they've been able to handle the big parts
of the opposing lineups and at the same time offense
has been right there. They've got to figure out for
Glass now, it's actually amazing when glassnow has been healthy
in pitching. You look at the last two years, the
numbers two, three, and four hitters that he's faced in lineups.
(39:44):
Those are the big bats, right, just a one ninety
three average against him. And if we look at Eric
Lauer on the flip side of the coin this year,
the numbers two, three, and four hitters when they face
him just a one ninety batting average against. So both
of these guys handle the big bats very well.
Speaker 6 (40:01):
I'm looking forward to seeing Tyler glassnew against Vladimir Guerrero Junior.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
The Blue Jay Star slugger has reached.
Speaker 6 (40:08):
Base nine out of eighteen plate appearances in his career
against Glass. Now that's a five hundred on base percentage.
He's also got a home run and a double to
his ledger as well. For Eric Lawer kind of hinted
at this in the last visit. He has not lost
to the Dodgers in his career, his five to zero
in seven careers starts and he's having a terrific year
(40:30):
in Toronto this season. One of the best eras that
we have in the American League.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Yeah, and he's one of those guys. Also, Stephen likes
to move the ball elevated upstairs. The other part too,
is he has a cut fast ball that has been
absolutely lights out. In fact, at bats ending with the
cut fastball with two strikes, hitters are zero for the
last twenty advance. What do you think your chances are
getting a cut fast ball with two strikes today?
Speaker 1 (40:55):
Exactly?
Speaker 6 (40:56):
Well, the Dodgers are going with their left handed up
or excuse me to line up against a left handed pitcher,
and well, Will Smith will draw back in Otani leads off,
Smith will back behind Mookie Betts and in front of
Freddy Freeman in the cleanup spot. Max Months he remains
starting in the lineup. He's in the seventh spot. He's
actually been pretty good against Lauer in his career. So
(41:17):
we'll see the Dodgers offense combined with Tyler Glass now
can make it a complete series and a series sweep
of the Blue Jays.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
All right, we'll find out. First pitch coming up. David
Vattane's got your cover with all the post game highlights,
reaction and Dodger talk with this one is over. Dodgers,
Blue Jays, both teams first place, the top their divisions.
Dodgers going for the three games suite over Toronto, Tyler
Glass on the mountain. First pitch is next. This has
