We are live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. It is
three o'clock. We've got a full four hour show going
till seven. David Vasse gonna keep the live and local
going at seven pm with off season talk. He will
join us to preview off season Dodger talk in the

(01:04):
five o'clock hour. Between now and then, we have got
four hours of great sports talk and tomorrow it will
be a short show, so appreciate the four hours today.
Tomorrow we have just two and a half hours a
one to three point thirty damn near superflex thanks to
Clippers that caught me off guard.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
You know, I didn't. I didn't think the Clippers are
going to high tailor to Canada like they ended up doing.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
After being in New York last Friday.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Right. And the thing is is people will be like, well,
why didn't you just check the schedule, But this year
the schedule changed and fully function employee ad him and
the powers that be amongst the Clippers PR did not
alert us. So Matt and I were caught with our
ds in our hands. So I feel a little bit

(01:49):
vindigated that that one caught me off guard, but.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
We selfish you're wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yeah, I'm right. I know I'm right.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I know I'm right.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
I'm right. The Clippers tomorrow and we will start at
one o'clock. So that is a Flex alert. Ronnie and Tim,
as Matt and I were out in the field working today,
are back in Burbank and we will be on again
tomorrow on the Flex Today. Though tonight we have Dodger

(02:19):
Talk featuring broadcast Legend Award winner, the award winning show
in town. You heard the promo. That's the one and
only David Vassy, and he has got DeRosa, right, the
guy Mark DeRosa, the guy that runs USA Baseball because

(02:41):
of the Clayton Kershaw announcement for the World Baseball Classic.
And he's got Dalton Rushing doing it big with.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
The Jenny Pass.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
A pretty big deal man.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
So that's something to look forward to at seven o'clock.
As far as more scheduled talk, something else to look
forward to is Matt and I's Big Show. It is
one week away, and as you know, when it's a
week away, we really kick the promotion into high gear
because we want to get you down to the marketplace

(03:13):
in beautiful Irvine, California, not the Rectum Spectrum, but the
marketplace where people love to get together, and we will
be there like we often are on Thursday before the
big Laker Clipper game, which is the biggest game of
the NBA this season. As you said.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Earlier, Matt, everybody knows it, and we're going to celebrate
it by hitting the rood. It'll be our last appearance
of DJs Restaurant and brew House schedule six dates. This
is the sixth that'll be in Irvine. Per the request
of our friends at DJ's, including Miss January. It'll be
a three to six show. We will have prizes. Now,

(03:55):
can we do another sweep and have another swap meet?
I think so. I think there's still some items in
the office that could be purged. You want to pick everything, so,
I don't I know, beyond lamp is ours. It doesn't
belong to the company. It's ours. The fl floor lamp,
the floor lamp that stands between our desks.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I didn't know there was one there.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Yeah, we could bring that down, all right, give away
the lamp floor lamp. The cooler. They're trying to save
it for the summer tour. But f that we can
give the cooler away. Well they want to save that,
that's fine, that's christ. We got more T shirts, hats, bobbleheads.
You gave away the acbar mask.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Yeah, gave that to the kid that has the big
floppy hat.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
We gave away the shack bobblehead that was worth a
couple hundred bucks.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
We're not we see that really bothers me?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
What's that?

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Tim Kats has And I think you're with me, Matt.
You draw the line here. This is like if I
was the athletic director at USC and they asked to
move or the Notre Dame rivalry. I draw a line, right,
they can't have our door. No right, Kate said, give away.

(05:11):
Now that's the second time, Tim, that you have mentioned
to me personally in private. It was just in my
ear right there, that we should give away the door.
Why not?

Speaker 5 (05:23):
What do you guys do with it? It sits in
the studio?

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, we we figures, put stickers on it a lot.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
And when we get to the room, I'm looking at
it right now with the other side then.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Right side, come on, right, what's wrong with that door?

Speaker 4 (05:38):
There's two sides of that door. Yeah, technically right in
our next in the next twenty years, we're going to
fill the other side. That really bothers me. Tim. You know,
why don't you go over to India and tell them
to give away the taj Mahal that were random tourist.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, that's like exactly what it's like, exactly the same
allergy pal.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah, why don't you go to Russia and say, give
give me the Kremlin, give me one of those bulbousy
things on the Kremlin.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
A good idea, buddy.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Don't you pal me? Pally? I'm not kidding. The door
is extremely valuable to Matt and nine, and I don't
think anybody would actually want it. It's huge.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
I would suggest a box of Victor Bricks stuff that
was in the bullpen.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Now that that's gone, that's gone. What happened was taken down.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
To him, right, Yeah, fix got it in his possession now,
but for a long time. Now it was sitting back
there and we're starting to go through it.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
You know, it could give away some stuff from the
supply closet, like a leaky highlighters and messy ballpoint pens.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Matt that belocks to the company.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
Oh how about Santa Anita twenty twenty six calendar.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Now we're talking, I mean, well we ran.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
I don't know if these have been given away yet.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
It started to me like it's like Will Smith looking
at the living room at the at the Fresh Prince meme.
There's nothing in there anyway, Like most everything is gone.
We can scour our own homes and pull out some
magnets and some key chains and things of that nature.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Yeah, I think I have a handful of Travis Matthew
baseball caps I can give away because I have such
a tiny head they don't fit me. Right, I tried
to give him the cats, and he like, just I
don't know what it was, right, like nos, Twice two
times I've tried to give you Travis Matthew hats.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Well, Matt, you have highlighted how you never wash your
hair or you wash your hair with a gas can.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
So these are unworn. These are unworn hats because they're
too big for me. I the Travis Matthew as much
as I love their their shirts and their pants and
their jeans, all that, the hats because I have such
a small head.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Yeah, and the reason Matt's head is so small is
because long after he should have, he wore a very
confining propeller head beatie as its right. It's shunted. It's
stunted the growth of his head. Now here's the backing,
Spanky fan, here's a text, Matt uh and I I
feel like it's hollow, but it's filled with like some

(08:08):
some for mica or something.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Up fine, brought to you by your so called Toyota dealers.
We make it easy.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Is the door solid core or hollow?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
No, it's a solid core door.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Yeah, it is heavy.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
It weighs at least one hundred pounds.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
So it's a substantial door, but it is not to
be given away.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
Oh, I see something right now in the studio that
could be the grand prize, bigger than the fifty eight
inch Westinghouse team.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Sound like Bill handled bigger.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
I want to talk about what's happening.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
We got something bigger than the Clipper tickets, which, by
the way, the Clipper tickets you guys are giving away
next Thursday. They're like club level. These are really nice,
really nice?

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Are red hot?

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Right, I'm looking at a trophy. I'm looking at a
trophy right now, sitting in the studio. It says to
PMS twenty twenty six for the Freedom Train Award.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Great idea, great idea, Kates, great idea, Our Freedom Train
Award trophy, great idea.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
People, get ready, there's a train a coming. You don't
need no baggage, you just get on board. Yeah, but
do we have to give the Freedom Train Award to
somebody who looks like they want to be on the
Freedom Train?

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I don't follow.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Give me more detail?

Speaker 4 (09:39):
P like somebody with day them energy or somebody that
looks like they're.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
You know, ups, still not following well?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Let's just put it like this. If it's an old,
crotchety white man, he might not want to get on
the Freedom train. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
There may not be a ticket available to him.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Well, you don't need no ticket, you just get on board.
But Matt, like when you see the Soul Train, that
animation of the Soul trained before Cornelis.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
And Don Cornelie is gonna hang out all for the
next hour, right.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Like, you don't think like that Soul train's going And
then all of a sudden zooms in and in the
front seat is Stan Casting or a guy that looks
like Stan Casten.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Right, I know It's okay, okay, I think I'm starting
to find you.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
You know, like Cocoke Beware, you know, or Nipsey Russell
or somebody that you know, somebody fine might be behind
the conductor's train lever Well.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
I believe that was the position of listener Rob at
the CERRITOSPJS for our blinderd black Matt Lioner figure. He's like, Hey,
I'm looking around and there ain't a lot of black
people here. I'm black, and I get the Black Matt liner.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
And it didn't work like that. He got a hockey thing,
but he ended up loving hockey, so that worked out
pretty well.

Speaker 7 (10:58):
Well.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
You don't have to be black to get the try
if you don't have to.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
Be black to love hockey either. Even though Quentin Byfield
is of a darker hue than I, what do.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
You think about his trade value?

Speaker 4 (11:07):
You know I wanted to get into that. I'm glad
you brought it up here in the first segment of
the show. Let's lead with that now. All I'm saying is,
should the Freedom Train go to somebody that looks like
they're with it? You know, somebody that looks like they
could be singing uh with with Buffalo Springfield? You know,
stop children, what's sets sound? You know? Somebody, somebody that

(11:30):
truly knows what's going on, Somebody that can tune in
and tune out. You know what I'm saying, the Freedom Train.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Sure, I know what you're saying, but maybe I mean, look, uh,
you know, it doesn't just have to be a passenger
on the Freedom Train. It could be like a William
Lloyd William Lloyd Garrison type right that that helps conduct
the train. So it's you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
You think Medgar Evers is coming to our event, Matt, Like, what.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Do you tell you like John Brown? John Brown is
the comn door you know, Abigail Adams man that John
Brown's not coming. I mean we highlight these people regularly.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
I think it's a great gift.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Now, I'm with you. It's a great call.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
If Harriet, if Harriet Beach your Stowe comes through the walls,
come off that or if she walks in that door
in Irvine, she's getting the Freedom Trainer ward certainly, Okay,
I don't care if she was a white savior, she's
still getting the Freedom Trade awards. Right. So anyway, that's
what we have to give away, and we hope to
see you there and we get We told about all

(12:50):
the other great giveaways right right.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Uh Clipper tickets, No, I don't think we mentioned the
westing House. I don't think we mentioned the details case.
What Westinghouse fifty disrespect the basketball gods when we're trying
to promote our event. Yeah, Lebron idiot fifty eight inch
Zumo TV Smart TV experience, simplifying streaming, Spend more time watching,

(13:15):
less time app hopping. Find your Western House TV at
best Buy or Amazon. We love Westinghouse, We love Brett.
We love Zuomo and we hate app hopping, and that's
why we love Westinghouse.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Come on down to Irvine a week from today. We
will not give away the door, but we will give
away the newly adorned Freedom Train Award. Tim Kates will
send it down because I know his assaint drive.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
I might be down there because we're gonna have an
in person guest joining you guys on the four o'clock
hour next Thursday from Bjay's and Irvine, a dignitary of
the area. The mayor, the Mayor of Irvine will be there. Now, yah,
is he bringing a proclamation?

Speaker 4 (13:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
I floated the idea out.

Speaker 6 (13:58):
There, boys, I said, it's you would love to have
him out there with a proclamation.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
You did not say that. That makes us look terrible, terrible.
Now I'm bad. Now I'm the bad.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
It's the proclamation has to come from his heart, from
his soul, recognizing what Petros and money have done for
the city of Irvine and our many trips to the BJS.

Speaker 6 (14:18):
Sometimes you need a kick in the ass to kind
of a movie in that direction, you know what I mean, Like, Hey,
let's get you going a train.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
This a man that first served on the Irvine City
Council in nineteen seventy eight.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Oh, we could ask about the Freedom Train.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
If you're not aware of what the Freedom Train is,
we could ask him about it.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
I'm sure the reference, guys, is earlier this week on Tuesday, Matt, myself, Kate's,
everybody from the show, but Ronnie, David Vasse, Brian Blackmore,
Brian Long, Dave Wis, Isaac Low and kron We calling
ye dressed as a Vietnam veteran. We were, We're all

(15:00):
at Dave's father in law. We were all at the
California Southern California Sports Broadcasters Award banquet, and while giving
Jim Hill a Hall of Fame award, John Ireland told
us about the underground railroad basically and the Freedom Train.

(15:21):
And Matt and I have hopped the train and kept
that theme going.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
We can't get enough of it throughout the week because
we didn't know. We didn't know what it was. We
had no idea what the Freedom Train was all about.
And we're so happy he explained it to us in
that moment.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
I was a history major at UCLA, guys, and I
honestly did not know what the Freedom Train.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Was well, look, it's our listeners are stupid too. Listen
to this text the Freedom Train Award. Is that some
kind of gay thing. I'm not gay, but there's a
lot of people who are just curious about what the
figurehead at the top of the trophy or plaque is.

Speaker 8 (15:54):
Yeah, I'm not gay, So just it's a lot of
people who are.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
It's not gay thing. It's a historical thing. And Matt
and I are all in and we have an award
to give away, and we're going to give it to
the most with it looking listener that's out there in
Irvine at the BJS, And there might be a proclamation coming.
I don't like the fact that Tim Kates would ask
the mayor for a proclamation, but I also wouldn't mind

(16:23):
having that proclamation to go next to the Soritos proclamation
because Irvine is the second biggest city in Orange County.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
And it's not even close, not even close. No, I
think it's not even close.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
I think Orange is third, or Oranger Fullerton. So anyway,
we are looking forward to that event and we look
forward to having a great time. We're going to talk
to Don McClain today in the five o'clock hour. We're
going to talk to David Vassy from the Dodgers, because
he's got Dodger Talk tonight, the award winner in the

(16:59):
final hour of the show. But Matt, we're going to
keep that football vibe going. A college football Hall of
famer is going to join us next.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Yes, a dear friend of the show. He has come
on repeatedly. He is not just a Super Bowl champion.
He is not just a college football Hall of Famer,
but the great Eric Weddle is the head coach at
Rancho Bernardo High School, and we love talking to Weddle.
He's one of our absolute favorites. The Rams are still
a lot the team that drafted him and began his

(17:30):
path to superstardom in a defensive backfield. Chargers are not
there looking for a new offensive coordinator. Weddle always stays
up to speed on all the happenings in college football.
I would imagine he'd even have a hot opinion on
USC and Notre Dame ending their rivalry.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
I would know, I wouldn't know. I would be scared
to ask a guy like Eric Weddle.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
What if you f so Weddle will join us in
the next segment to weigh in on all things football,
which we're very excited about.

Speaker 4 (17:59):
So we have Eric Weddell, we have Don McClain, we
have David Vassey. A little bird told me a rumor
that we have an Only Kate's Cares coming up this hour,
which is very exciting. Everybody always enjoys that one when
he's up in the studio and Matt and I are
back at home and it's a long show. You know,

(18:20):
the occ and I'm not talking about Orange Coats College. Yeah,
you know me is going to pop up Only Kate's Cares.
So we will do that this hour and we'll have
local Knowledge and beyond, and we'll have three things Thursday,
and that will be our show on AMI seventy LA Sports.
The end is three hours and forty minutes away. But

(18:44):
you won't be done then because then Dodger Talk comes
and they have Dalton Rushing and Mark de Rosa with
the big announcement of Clayton Kershaw. And I would love
to know what Clayton Kershaw does to get ready for
one of those stars. It's against Trinidad and Tobago in
the World Baseball Classic. Do you think he's gonna.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Wake up against tat Do you think he's gonna go, Yeah, dude,
into the cold tub.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Do you think he's gonna.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Go cold tub infra red sauna?

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Back to exactly what I loved?

Speaker 9 (19:18):
Do you want to know exactly what I loved? I
woke up, got in the cold tub, hotel, I got
in the cold tub. We got in a hyper bearer chamber.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
That's a hyper bear chamber.

Speaker 8 (19:30):
I took a NAT.

Speaker 9 (19:34):
Then I played p G A E A golf for
a little bit, as I normally take my legs for
forty five minutes. Then I took a shower, got dressed,
and UH headed here and UH, once I got here,
I did my normal game day routine, activation, treatment, rehabing, uh, stretching, lifting, mentally,

(19:57):
doing everything while I watched h you know, TPG on
a TV. And then me and Mike looked at each
other and he looked at me, asked me what you're thinking?
I said, I think I feel pretty good.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
So there's two examples other than how insufferable Lebron James
is in that SoundBite. The one is when Lebron says
that's the second one. The one is when Lebron says,
do you really want to know what I did and
what excuse me what it said?

Speaker 2 (20:28):
I would love to.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
And then when he says he's playing video games, which
is you know.

Speaker 9 (20:34):
I did have a bear chamber. I took a net,
then I played PG A E A golf.

Speaker 8 (20:41):
Nice, nice, nice, nice.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
I would love to.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
If we're gonna, if we're gonna yell at that lady
that washed the Jacksonville coach Liam Cohen's balls in that
post game, and they're like, this isn't media, Why she
washing him up? How come the those people don't come
after all the people that have been covering Lebron all
these years and just slicking his sack down.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
I mean, at least our, our thirty year old vet
from the Jacksonville Free Press was just straight out with it,
like we love you, you are special, We are proud
of you. Like I'd rather have that than I would
love to.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
You really want to know us, You really want to
know what I did?

Speaker 8 (21:22):
I would love to. Nice.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
It's different when Matt and I have somebody on it's different.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Oh, totally different, Yeah, totally different.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
We're not gonna wash up Eric Weddle. We're gonna keep
it straight. We'll be right there. That's gonna be a departure.
Like you said, Matt, we got a lot to get
into with him. Yeah, we got to talk about the
Broncos and Rancho Bernardo. I don't think I'm ever gonna

(21:58):
get over the Freedom train.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
No, I'm I definitely am not.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Stay with us, everybody. It's Petrison Money joining us, next
College Football Hall of Famer, NFL All Pro and a
real legend in southern California and beyond Eric Weddle.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
We've made it even easier to take LA Sports with you.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Make AM five seventy or your favorite AM five seventy
LA Sports podcast a preset on the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
App using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto Petro some money.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
AM five seventy LA Sports live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Got football all weekend.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
We are your home of the NFL playoffs, three divisional games,

will be heard right here. We are giving away tickets

sure to say hi.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
Matt joining us right now and you're Southern California. Toyota
Dealers celebrity hotline. A real hero. Nine seasons with the Chargers,
three with the Ravens. Finished his fourteen year career. Remember
he came on v bourn after the Rams won the
Super Bowl. Six time Pro Bowler, five time All Pro.

(23:41):
I did a Utah game where they were was still
in the Mountain West and Eric Weddle was a corner,
he was a safety, he was a running back, he
was a quarterback, he was a slot receiver and he punted.
He is cool. One of the all time greats. Just
announced yesterday College Football Hall of Fame. He deserves it.
Head coach. His son is there and it's already getting

(24:04):
offers at Rancho Bernardo High School. He's riding Billy Bronco
and we're happy to have him back on the show.
A hero to us all. As I said, Eric Weddell, Eric,
congratulations on the Hall of Fame. That's awesome, my.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
Man, Thanks for having me on. It's always a joy
to rap a little bit with you guys and talk
shop and shoot. Hall of Famer next to my name
is pretty surreal. Humbled by it. And yeah, man, live
in the highlfe right now.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
You know, it's cool because you're with young people and
mentoring young people, which is a great thing to do
and a lot of work, no doubt about it. Down
in Rancho Bernardo and college football's changed a lot from
when Utah was in the Mountain West. What jumps out
to you the most when you think of those days
at Utah where you know, you were like a college player,

(25:02):
but you weren't. Uh you were you were doing it
like Pop Warner. You didn't come off the field.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (25:09):
Well, I mean back in the day, Utah didn't have
as many good players across the board you could stay
and so they had to.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Move guys around.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
And the more valuable you you become, and so it
was a great reminder that when you get in the league,
you got to play special teams, you got to play
corner nickels safety. So I got prepped up pretty well
at Utah and uh coincided with a with a great
NFL career.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
What do you make I know it's probably not what
we should start with, but you know, what do you
make of coach Wadingham going to Michigan one of the
blue bloods, chick of a job at Utah? Kind of
your thoughts on on that move?

Speaker 7 (25:51):
Yeah, it was uh shoot. You know, if a guy,
you know, I love coach with he knows that I'm
I'm still keeping in touch with.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
Them and the emails, I'd go out there.

Speaker 7 (26:02):
In heartbeat to speak to his team if he wanted it. So,
if a guy still wants to coach, and you know,
like he said in his press conference that there were
only maybe three to five schools that he would entertain,
and Michigan being one of them. And when Michigan calls
and you still have a desire to go coach and
turn around a program that's kind of in shambles with

(26:24):
what's been going on the last few years. That I
tell people Michigan is lucky to get a guy like
him to get everything back in order. And I kid
you now that staff he put together and the kids
are gonna that he's gonna be able to coach. I
wouldn't be surprised if they're in the playoffs and winning
a chip here in a couple of years, which he

(26:47):
could do that, and then the staff he's assembled, So
I'm excited for him, and I'm also excited for Morgan
to take over Utah. No better man to do that.
And I think both programs are going to ascend to
the top.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
Eric Weddle, our guest on the Petros and Money Show,
just announced in the College Football Hall of Fame and
and I was down. I mean, we've we've met a
few times, but down in San Diego Chargers camp is
where we first really started to have you on the
show and created a relationship. And even back then, you know,

(27:23):
before you were in Baltimore and before the Rams and everything,
you knew you wanted to get into coaching and coach
young people. Has it been like you thought it would
be and how gratifying is And I can see a
lot of guys getting into it and then they seem
to be enjoying it.

Speaker 7 (27:40):
Yeah, that's a that's a loaded question. And you know,
the game has changed, the kids have changed, and do
I do. I love trying to give back. Yes, do
I love coaching in motivating and teaching these young kids

(28:01):
how to be great fathers and husbands, because really, that's
ninety eight percent of my boys, that's their reality. The
collegiate aspect of his few and far between, especially with
the Portal and Nils, it's killing high school kids. So
you know, I think it very seriously.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
I enjoy it.

Speaker 7 (28:23):
Do I think I'm going to be a head high
school coach for ten, fifteen, twenty years. No, I think
I'm meant for higher level, just not right now. I
got three girls and a boy, and my two younger
girls are in sixth grade and eighth grade, So I
got some time at this level, and I'm happy where

(28:44):
I'm at and trying to make the most of it
and be able to coach my son is something that
I thoroughly enjoy and don't take for granted every single
day because once he's gone, it's he's gone, and I'll
never get that back.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
So when Philip takes his head coaching gig and assembles
a staff of like you and Hardwick, like, are you
gonna You're gonna take that gig? When he offers it
to you at either whatever NC state or some NFL team.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (29:12):
I don't know if I can coach college with the
way the rules are and having to re recruit your
guys every every six months and having to I'm not
a big guy to have the big guys to play
for me. And if I, if my resume and my
personality don't say I could be the best coach for you,
then I don't want you.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
So I don't know.

Speaker 7 (29:33):
That'd be hard pressed for me to go coke go
coach college with the way the rules are set up
right now. So if he calls me about the NFL
and then the time is right, then yeah, man, let's go.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Let's go take that challenge of But you will go
to Ann Arbor to speak to Winningham's team. You are
on record saying that in this interview college football hall
of famer, and he's a hall of famer, he can
go anywhere he wants, Eric Weddle, We're very happy to
have you on and to talk about things. You know,
both teams in town, and it's crazy to say they're

(30:04):
in town now because they weren't back back when you
were first playing in San Diego. But who do you
follow more closely? The LA Chargers are the La Rams.

Speaker 7 (30:15):
They'll always be San Diego Chargers to me, so I
reference them as San Diego.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
I follow the Rams.

Speaker 7 (30:22):
I'm still really really close with Sean. Him and I
got a very unique close relationship. We probably talked still
once a week and more of a soundboard for him,
and just you know, I watch every game, So but
I support the Chargers and obviously I watched the Ravens still,
I'm still very close with with the management and organization.

(30:44):
Now Harve's leaving and where he'll end up, I'll support
his squad. So but probably I would say the Rams
for the most part, just because my relationship with Sean
and how close we are.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Is is it a big deal? I mean, you played
in Baltimore, you played in Utahs, you know what it's
like to play in the cold regularly. But is it
a big deal for a team that has played an
entire season for the most part in you know, mild
temperatures home games seventy to eighty degrees to be in
a playoff game on Sunday that it kick says it's
gonna feel like between negative two and five degrees.

Speaker 7 (31:19):
Listen, I don't care if you practice outside every day
or you don't practice outside every day. The when you're
playing and cold, everybody's cold, and so it's honestly, it's
just talking points and guys that have played they understand like, yeah,
you're gonna be cold, You're gonna be miserable.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
It's it's that's all it is.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
So you're either gonna let.

Speaker 7 (31:40):
It be an excuse when you lose the game, or
you're it's not gonna be an issue when you win
the game.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
So I don't I don't know.

Speaker 7 (31:47):
I think it's more talking points and it's finding reasons
to pick Chicago when you look at the both teams,
that the Rams are a better team, the better offense,
the better defense, special teams is a wash. Hopefully the
Rams don't trick that off, but they're finding ways to
make people think Chicago should win this game when they're not.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
What do you I'm sure you mentioned you Kip, you
keep in touch with with Sean McVay, which means you're
keeping your eyes on Matthew Stafford. I mean, the guy
couldn't play a lick of training camp because he got
a back issue. Were you surprised by the season he
put together and kind of do you think this could
be a ride off into the sunset kind of year
for him considering his injury history. If they're able to

(32:28):
put this whole thing, you know, together, that ends with
them raising the Super Bowl Trophy.

Speaker 7 (32:33):
You know, I don't think he'll be done. I think
Sean and him are going to ride this out and
as long as Matthew wants to play, he's going to
be the MVP he should be. And I was out
there in training camp. I go to training camp every
year and I'm win meetings, and Sean allows me to
be a part of everything. So I was there, and
obviously me and mass stay in touch, and he wasn't practicing,

(32:57):
and he was dealing with some stuff, but talk about
like he's one of the toughest dudes mentally and physically,
and he was feeling like he had actually dealt with
those issues during OTA's which he practiced through, and so
everyone was pretty confident, like, regardless of how he's gonna feel,
he's gonna be fine. Even though he didn't get any
reps in training him, they were basically trying to like

(33:19):
get it taken care of instead of waiting and so
everyone in the building was confident. Did I expect this
type of season. Listen, there's not a better thrower playing
the position pre snap post snap than Stafford his talent,
and so I expected him to have a big year MVP.

(33:39):
I would be lying if I said that, But he's
been incredible. And when I tell gays to watch football
and watch that position, there's nobody plays it better than
Stafford and playing the position the right way.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
We mentioned your son who's being recruited. You're a family man,
but you're out of Altalloma Rancha Kook and we went
out there. We've been out there a few times over
the last you know, ten years, and we have a
lot of shows out there, and it seems like the
community has become like a crazy youth sports hub. Was

(34:15):
it always that way? Well, when you were a young
man coming out of Alta Looma, I think, I.

Speaker 7 (34:22):
Mean the city of Ranch Cucamonga and just then Inland Empire,
I think is growing exponentially and from the days of
like you know, I look back at like Kenyon Coleman
who went to UCLA, who was the Al Saoma grad
and he had the Bocanegras who ended up playing for
the US national team for soccer. Like there's there's a

(34:43):
there's a lot of talent there. And I think over
the years, over the last two decades, they're realizing then
AI has is a hotbed for for football and in
all sports. I mean Edawanda is always crazy good at
basketball over the years, and so yeah, these school and
programs and in the youth brought like it was. I mean,

(35:04):
you just played Pop Warner and it's not as crazy
it is now, Like youth sports is insane. And I
try to tell kids play all the sports. Don't get
in the club, enjoy it be a kid, because this
club stuff and seven on seven it's just really it's
really overdone, if I'm being honest, and it really creates
bad habits in the long run.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Petrous mentioned it your son high level football player being
recruited by everyone. I don't know if that means that
you're keeping an eye a close eye on college football,
but I guess at least close enough right to kind
of know what's going on in the playoff. Just kind
of your thoughts on the return of the U and
what just the most remarkable turnaround we've ever seen in
the history of the sport and what IU is doing

(35:49):
and what kind of national championship game we got Holy smosh.

Speaker 7 (35:52):
Yeah, Like you know, with Gage going through this with him,
it's it's really it's actually really cool to meet coaches
and you almost become a part of all these programs
that become you know, interested in Engauge and they offer
them and that really at theat the end of the day,
like it means nothing if you don't continue to progress

(36:14):
and and improve and get better. So it's a reality
when he becomes a junior and senior year. So but
it's it's cool to try to get the ins and
out of what these programs are all about and these
coaches and their culture and and where are these fits,
Like where do you see Gauge playing and and this
and that. So now to see Miami back in there,
I don't reference them as the you they really use Utah,

(36:37):
So let's let's not get all right. They probably wouldn't
like me saying that, but that's okay, I've been saying
it for twenty years, but uh yeah, man, like that.
There is a tall task for Miami. I think the
way they win this game and keep it close, they
run the football. Uh, they're not. I worry about their offense,
Like they don't have a ton of dynamic players. You know,

(36:58):
they got Tony Is. They're really like they're explosive athlete
and they can run the football, so control the clock,
run the football. You know, maybe you get a couple
of turnovers, uh to to shorten the game and get
extra possessions. And you know for Indiana, they're just a
well oiled machine right now. So do I do? I think?
Do I think Miami is a chance? I do, but man,

(37:22):
it's gonna be it's gonna be a tall task.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Michael Irvan looks like he's pretty riled up. Maybe they
can get him out there as a player.

Speaker 7 (37:31):
I don't know what what type of energy drink he's drinking,
but I need to.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Get on that, right, we all do.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
We can all use some help. Eric, you're the best
man and nobody deserves more and and may there be
more accolades coming your way. Congrats on all your success,
good luck with your team, and uh, if you want
to come on and promote the Broncos when the season
comes around, we'd love to have that.

Speaker 7 (37:55):
Thank you so much, Hey anytime, Thanks for all the
love and support of the years, and hey, let's let's
have a great twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Let's do absolutely.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
Eric Weddle, everybody Hall of Famer man, punt a kick,
run down on the kickoff, and make the tackle. Corner, nickel, safety,
running back, quarterback, slot guy, z receiver, tight end, wing back.

(38:29):
By the way, his personal protector.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
His son is a ball or Georgia, Miami, Ohio, State, Tennessee,
s he Washington, Vanderbilt.

Speaker 5 (38:36):
All of them.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
You tell him, I am surprised by that.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Who could have seen that coming? That guy's kid is
a baller, right of the most versatile defensive backs of
the last twenty years.

Speaker 4 (38:48):
Chris Peterson talked about him because Chris Peterson, they recruited him,
or they made somebody recruit him or something. They're like,
he's like I looked. I was in the area and
they're like, go stop at this kid's I was like, no,
look at it. It's so scrawny and skinny. Looking at
skinny back is Eric Weddle. He's the best. That was great, Kates,

(39:09):
thank you for thinking of that, and we'll be back
with mar only Kate's cares.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
Oh god, oh occ.

baseball in nineteen ninety six.

Hopefully you guys don't lose interest.

Speaker 6 (41:12):
I'll be brief. Since Eric Wedda was so great, what
it just superb guy. A couple of things for you guys.
The odds makers have been online have created some fun
props for this weekend's divisional round NFL games.

Speaker 5 (41:26):
How many tush pushes will the Bills run over? Under
a half?

Speaker 2 (41:29):
How about this one Bill? Did they toush push a
lot with Josh Alleny second? Yeah, that was the big
controversy they voted against. Are they voted in favor of
banning the tush push despite doing it the second most
of any team in the life.

Speaker 4 (41:44):
Hey, we don't like this. I don't like truck.

Speaker 7 (41:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
The rules, will do it?

Speaker 5 (41:48):
Keep doing them though, will Bell Johnson excuse me?

Speaker 6 (41:51):
Well, Ben Johnson and Sean mcvah, the two head coaches
embrace postgame two to one odds Yes, plus say friends.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
I bet they're special effrects on that. Weby things.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
Oh, okay, special friends with McVay too.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Yeah, then Jean revenge from Sean McVay from Matt left Fleur.

Speaker 6 (42:07):
More on that than three things coming up at five o'clock,
Will the Bears and Rams winning head coach take off
their shirt postgame three to one yes, mayas five hundred.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
No, what do you know about running down hill? How
about this?

Speaker 5 (42:21):
This is a good one that you guys have been
waiting on.

Speaker 6 (42:23):
Primary color of Caleb Williams nail polish for Sunday's divisional game.
That's just two to one blue. That makes me five orange.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
There you go, I'm gonna go five to two orange.
I love this one.

Speaker 6 (42:36):
Yeah, okay, okay, four to one white, twelve to one, purple,
sixteen to one green, sixty one, sixteen to one, pink,
sixteen to one red. And if you're feeling crazy, thirty
three to one odds that Caleb Williams is going to
paint his nail rainbow colors.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
About that, Nope, I like those odds skates all right?

Speaker 4 (42:57):
How about this sounds like Matt's jumping back on the
well now that the Chargers are out of the pub?

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Man, did you know Matthew Stafford quarterback with orange fingernails,
let's go in.

Speaker 6 (43:06):
Cold weather games meaning minus freezing thirty two degrees, three
and three in twelve years with the Detroit Lions, that
was his record three and three. However, in cold, rainy
or snowy games since joining the La Rams, Matthew Stafford
one in nine is old record in games below thirty

(43:30):
two degrees. And Matt, I think you alluded to it.
It's gonna be cold.

Speaker 5 (43:34):
Soldier Field of Chicago says, feels.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Like negative two to five.

Speaker 4 (43:40):
Wow, that's pretty what fit into.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
That category last night?

Speaker 4 (43:43):
I know you got what.

Speaker 5 (43:45):
I know you guys got to going to be I
just want to point that out.

Speaker 4 (43:48):
But that's still talking about Caleb's fingernails.

Speaker 2 (43:51):
Betros didn't submit. I said orange. Okay, Betros didn't say
what color he thought they were gonna be? What are
you going to participate in?

Speaker 7 (43:57):
This?

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Second Man of Hockey was not It's not on the list.
May you got to make a bet here, oh.

Speaker 5 (44:04):
Blue, orange, white, purple green, pink, red or rainbow.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
It's gonna be wide, dude match of snow oh.

Speaker 7 (44:10):
I like that?

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Okay, final ten fort did to see the ball come
out of his hands.

Speaker 6 (44:15):
Last night, you guys were on the other end of
a text that we were all on from Tim Conway Junior.
They do the re entry of the SpaceX crew eleven
mission that landed off the coast of southern California. It
left the International Space Station and was flying through the
sky last night.

Speaker 4 (44:32):
You could see it.

Speaker 6 (44:34):
It was like a shooting star. Was uh when it
passed over last night, our friend Tim Kanye I was sleeping.
I'm sure you guys were sleeping. It was around twelve
thirty am this morning. Tim Conway, though, was up and
he filmed it.

Speaker 4 (44:49):
Oh dude, and here it is, well cut the music.
He sounds so creepy.

Speaker 7 (44:53):
All right.

Speaker 5 (44:54):
Here's Tim Conway Junior.

Speaker 4 (44:55):
Last night he posted it on his Twitter up.

Speaker 10 (44:57):
There right over Burbank A beautiful days. Four people in
that sucker three hundred and fifty thousand degrees.

Speaker 4 (45:13):
It's four.

Speaker 8 (45:15):
How awesome, holy smokes.

Speaker 5 (45:24):
Conway really loves the space.

Speaker 2 (45:26):
Yeah, it does sound like maybe he's having a moment
with his daughter. I think I heard a female voice.
Next day, there was a soft voice, I mean Conway.

Speaker 8 (45:35):
Right over Burbank. Oh look at that. Look at that
a beautiful head. Oh that's so beautiful. Four people, Yes,
in that sucker three and fifty thousand degrees. Wow, how awesome? Yes,
holy smoke.

Speaker 5 (45:53):
So you may have missed it.

Speaker 6 (45:54):
I think a lot of people missed it because they
didn't get the alert from Tim Conway because he likes
to share it with everybody. But Conway got those eyes
on it, videoed it, he put it up on his
social media. You can see and hear it there as well.
It actually got picked up by a couple of news
Twitter feeds his his video, his video, but they did
not credit him. They did not credit Tim Conways show
at all.

Speaker 4 (46:14):
They just retweeted it.

Speaker 2 (46:15):
Now it's got range Man post video at heavy breathing man.

Speaker 8 (46:21):
That's right over Burbank. Oh look at that?

Speaker 3 (46:23):
Whoa cave? Did stern up man? So there you go.

Speaker 5 (46:29):
In case you missed it.

Speaker 6 (46:30):
Last night, the returning from the International Space stationing off
the coast of southern California.

Speaker 4 (46:36):
It was SpaceX Crew eleven. So there you go, smoking
that SpaceX pack for Yeah.

Speaker 8 (46:44):
For Pinnutsucker, like a three D and fifty thousand degrees.
That's hot? How awesome? Yeah, holy holy smokes?

Speaker 4 (46:54):
Which is that?

Speaker 7 (46:57):
It is?

Speaker 8 (46:57):
That?

Speaker 4 (46:58):
Only cakes? That's it? That was three stories for you stuff,
good stuff. See, like I forget, it's so forgettable that
I forgot what the first story was.

Speaker 5 (47:09):
It was the odds from bet On.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Yeah, the props, got all the props out there, you know,
the fingernails. You picked a color that wasn't even on
the list. Thanks a lot for that. Second was weather
for Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 4 (47:21):
One that was part of the Ben No.

Speaker 5 (47:25):
One and nine Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
I could see that weather thing you That could have
been a steal, a stolen stolen valor from Three Things Thursday.

Speaker 2 (47:35):
Right, Oh sho, sorry, I'm sorry if I did that.
Uh it was well, we did the weather a little
bit yesterday. Our Three Things will feature the the thing
you talked about at the start though, with the odds
on Sean McVay and Ben Johnson embrace. We'll kind of
get into that because I don't know, I guess this
is something you got to carry into Thursday going into
the Divisional Round. For some reason, it's one of the

(47:58):
more interesting stories.

Speaker 5 (47:58):
It's been Johnson too, right, Sean McVay is a hugger.
I feel like he's a guy who like he'd get
over here.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
You'll tug this out.

Speaker 2 (48:03):
Guys right, and I think they're both shirt taker offers.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
Well, everybody takes off the shirt at the end of
the day. It just depends on how soon. Yeah, publicly
or earlier than others. Is always saying we all can
take it off before I leave the stadium. Yeah, t
shirtless swing over by the way.

Speaker 6 (48:21):
It's also a prop on the bet online which will
be higher the College Football Championship game on Monday Night
TV audience or any Divisional Round TV audience Saturday or Sunday.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
