So it's not everybody, but we are having a great
time here on AM five seventy LA Sports. We are

scoring the game, still no scoring. Again, no score. Miami's
got three. I told you I like Miami, but I
like the over so we're gonna need some points.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
That's right, all right, Matt joining us right now.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
On your Southern California Toyota Dealer Celebrity Hotline. It is
time to shift our attention to the NFL, the king
of kings when it comes to sports in the United
States of America, and the GM of your Los Angeles Chargers,
who Matt travels with and will be in the last
(02:42):
game on Sunday night on AM six to forty Chargers
in Foxborough, Shaven with Gillette versus the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
It's gonna be a lot of fun.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
The man who constructed this team that has been so
resilient overcomes so much joins us now.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Joe Hartiz, our old friend.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Always seems when we're at the BJ's, Joe Hartes can
smell the pizza and he calls us, what's cracking, Joe?
Speaker 4 (03:08):
How are you?
Speaker 7 (03:10):
I'm doing great, guys.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
We're doing great, and uh, thank you for joining us.
We know it's a crazy week and you guys are
traveling all the way across the country and there's a
lot to prepare for and you probably like to watch
Old miss and and Miami Class, So we won't try
to keep you too long, Joe, But uh, what can
you say about the resilience of of your team. A
lot of people wrote you guys off in camp when
Slater went down and then and then all went down
(03:35):
and everybody started kind of lamenting towards the Skies.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
But you guys have overcome a lot of that. Well,
what's the what's the secret? What's the key?
Speaker 7 (03:45):
I just think it's it's guys in the locker room
and coaches and obviously coach Harball, you know, just hey,
you know, some adversity and and and it's the way,
it's the way we're built. Battle through it and overcome it.
And I'm just so proud of everyone's effort. And you know,
you deal with injuries throughout the year and in most
NFL season, we had some impact players go for us
(04:05):
and just stepped up through and through and uh that
on the field, off the field, coaches, training room, you know, everybody,
and uh, it's a great team effort and ride so
far and try.
Speaker 8 (04:17):
To keep it going.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Joe, you were in Baltimore for multiple Super Bowl runs.
As as someone that's got a couple of them under
your belt, what what is there something you know that
that you can point to that sees teams win Super Bowls?
What is it that you got to do to make
it through the postseason, to make it to the super
Bowl and ultimately win the Lombardi.
Speaker 7 (04:38):
Yeah, you know, I tell you. You know, obviously the preparation
we key and you know, and the commitment to winning
those games and the focus, tension to detail. You know,
it's it's a different level, it's a different energy, it's
a it's a different atmosphere in the playoffs, and uh,
you know got to be locked in as as a whole,
you know, the whole organization on what which which are
(05:00):
chasing and uh, you know it requires execution. You know
what in a lot of years and a lot of
a lot of runs by a lot of teams, that
required a little bit of luck. So you got to
kind of you got to kind of create your luck
in the postseason.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
What do you mean by luck?
Speaker 6 (05:13):
When a guy catches like a ball on his head
like that Tyree guy or Norwood missus a kick, Like,
is that the kind of luck we're talking about? And
you guys work all year long, freak out and then
like some of the ball bounces off some guy's head
and that's all.
Speaker 7 (05:28):
It's crazy, Joe, It's insane, It's it's it happens just
like that. And uh, you know, I've been part of
some teams that you know, felt like there's you know,
we're the best team in the game in that year
and uh came up short and uh and then I've
been part teams where we just you know what, you know,
Jacoby Jones the Maha miracle, you know, quarter less than
(05:52):
two minutes left, Joe hit them on that seventy seventy
five yard touchdown whatever it was, and overcover too, So
it was you know, you gotta you gotta have some
break your way and uh So, whether that's luck or
execution or the right call at the right time, you know,
however you define it, you need to make those types
of in the playoffs. And uh, I think you see it.
(06:14):
You're in. You're from from the teams that are fortunate
enough with.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Some party you win a bunch of games early in
the year, and it allows you to approach Week eighteen
the way you guys did you rested justin Herbert, you
wrested uh six of your defensive starters, a handful of
guys on offense as well. How do you see that
coming together in terms of guys and how they're feeling
and what having two weeks off does for a team
(06:37):
does for an individual going into a playoff game.
Speaker 7 (06:41):
Yeah, you know, I think, you know, I think there's
times where you know, you don't you got you got
to go into the playoffs, you know, and everybody, And
in this situation, you know, there was a there was
a lot of uncertainty where you'd end up and you
could play the game and end up winning being the
same spot you currently before the game. And uh, it's
(07:01):
just it's an opportunity to get Gus rested. And uh,
you know, we had a late season by and I
felt we came out of that strong, and a coach
and I talked about it, and we both were in agreement, like, hey,
let's let's get the guys some rest. The most important
thing is to be to be at our healthiest, uh
during during during this playoff run. So let's let's try
to get there. And uh, it was an opportunity to
(07:21):
give a lot of starters, uh the game off and
and rotate players in where we couldn't rest the starter.
And I thought the guys, you know, they competed their
butt off and uh put have a good fight. Obviously,
you know, a couple of plays here there could have
been a different game, but it just didn't break our
way this past weekend. But you know, now we got
everyone coming back healthy, uh, rested, and uh you see
(07:41):
the energy this week and you know a little bit
of fresh legs, a little bit.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
Oh another like mc fresh Legs out there cutting some
new tracks.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Only.
Speaker 6 (07:52):
Joe Hartiz is our guest, the GM of the Chargers
and they take on the Patriots. You see Charger hats
all over the here in Cerritos. Patriots on Sunday. Gonna
be a big game. Matt'll be there with Daniel Jeremiah
of course, and Shannon Farren. They're all going to be
on the same plane. Cool pro football people doing pro
football things. And you just mentioned that last game and
(08:15):
that was kind of like the last piece of the
puzzle to get your quarterback who's been so heroic through
this regular season. Joe, just talk about that because you
got your most important player in the franchise is always
the quarterback, especially when it comes to you guys, and
here's a guy, you know, being heroic all year long
(08:35):
and overcoming adversity. How do you kind of navigate that
and deal with that knowing how important that player is
and how much risky is putting himself in.
Speaker 7 (08:46):
Yeah, you know, I just you know justice he's taking
this in my mind, you know, I'm talking about for
the media. He's put together an VP performance this year,
is no doubt, and just some plays just like how
you do that, and he does it week in week out,
and uh, the competitor, he's elite, the best have been
(09:06):
at the position and really at any position. And to
watch him go in week in week out, never never
ever out of Ques, never a question of whether he's
going to step up for So he's just been awesome
to watch play this year. And you know, a chance
to get him rested one week, you know, and and
chance to be as fresh as he can be and
(09:27):
feeling good into this playoffs. It's just a it's a
great opportunity for you.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
You've coached with with both Harbaugh's unfortunate news out of Baltimore,
John relieved of his duties, but just kind of what
what is it like working with them, Being in the
front office with John and now being the general manager
with Jim, and and what do they bring to a team.
We know how important a head coaches for a playoff
run kind of what what is the tone that's set
and and what is it that the Harbor brothers Harball
(09:53):
brothers do that that lead to their teams being so successful.
Speaker 7 (09:57):
Well, I think their passion for the game, their their
their work ethic, Uh, the team unity that they create
and just you know, no one's gonna outwork us, but
we're gonna have fun doing it. John and I've had
the opportunity, like like you said, money to work with
John for a long long time and they come in
here with Jim, and their approach is always the same
(10:19):
with both, like hey, let's get to work, Let's be focused,
Let's be detailed, and that's the fun doing it. Let's
love at each other, Let's have each other active. You know,
it's it's not about the individual. It truly is about
the team with both both coaches, and uh definitely saw
them for John and I got a lot of friends
over there, and it was you know, and.
Speaker 8 (10:38):
It was a tough, tough, tough.
Speaker 7 (10:40):
Situation for everyone about the Baltimore you know, with them Pardons.
But I know John is gonna you know, he's already
on the seat and uh he's going to get an opportunity,
you know, I'm sure and he's gonna get the same
way as attack he attacked it for eighteen years in Baltimore,
and it'll be out again. And like like Jim said
this week, we just hope it's in the NFC and
(11:01):
at the AFC.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Joe the h the team is five and zero in
prime time?
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Is is there something about a late start? Is is
because you know, you play at ten am Pacific time
based on what your practice schedule is. Maybe the guy's
bodies aren't used to that or whatever it might be.
But is there something to kicking off at five pm?
And why this team is undefeated in that time slot? Uh?
Speaker 7 (11:24):
You know, you know, I don't know if there's some
mad potion to it, but uh, I just know the
energy level and and and the passion our team plays
and the guys love love being in those prime time
spots and uh and and they and their best comes out.
So uh, I just love the way they attack it.
And you know, you're on display for the whole well
(11:45):
name to see and you know, go out there and
and and put it out there for everyone to see it.
And that's the approach they take. And again, like this
this locker room, this team you know, the path they
play with the love they have for one another, it's
it's special and uh, you know it's a chance for
when when it's when it's eight o'clock on the East
Coast and everyone's watching his chance for them to go
out and show it.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
You know, really would have sucked if you picked that
running back and he was scared, you know, like you
start camp and he's scared to go in there on
nine on seven.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
But that's not the case with Hampton. He's a good
looking player.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
Uh what's the gratification level when you pick a back
and he's everything you thought he would be, maybe even
a little bit more. Uh, that's a great weapon, especially
going into these playoffs healthy.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
Yeah, yeah, it's great. It's awtimate. Lamar In just just
a real He's a force as a runner. I mean
he's so fast, explosive, competitive. You know, you watched some
of the plays he takes off and runs the ball
and the contact he seeks out, Like you why I
watched him. I'm like, oh my god, I had to
hurt the defender there. You know, he just he's so
(12:50):
violent and u and versatile too. You know, he's not
a runner, he's got great hands working on the backfield
and beat that catch and until the games young and
then it get passed. Bro And so it's been fun
to watch him. And you know, I know he had
the back midyear, but just to watch more back from
that and just how diligent he was in his approach
(13:11):
is commitment to get back on the field. It's awesome
to be such a such a great young man and
looking forward to watching him and this year, the rest
of this year, in the future.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Last one for you, Joe, we appreciate it. Foxborough obviously
a lot of it's more the Bill Belichick Tom Brady era,
but when you're with Baltimore, you played somebody game.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Man.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
I can't forget about Brogan. Yeah, I mean he lets
as well, probably with that neck role. He let Foxborough on.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Fire back in the mid eighties. When Grogan and his
long neck going as well, we ran the ball. But
you know, you know, Joe there for many of those
Brady showdowns with with Baltimore. Is there something about that place.
It's got that creepy rural one lane road when you
go in. The nice thing is the team went there
last year and smoked him forty to seven. So you know,
(13:58):
not that much or I guess around it. But is
there something about where that place is how weird it
is when you're driving in there? Or is it really
just the dominant years of Belichick and Brady.
Speaker 7 (14:10):
You know, I mean obviously they were phenomenal keepment organization. Uh,
and they wanted it was a great run and and
and they they certainly rebuilt back quick. And uh, I'll
say that it's a we've had some success there in
Baltimore and uh, but yeah, money going through those houses
and those sigh streets, it's I don't want to call
(14:31):
it creepy, it's you need, right. I mean, if you're
in a little town, then you're it's like it's like
you're going to a high school football game and then
all of a sudden you pop out and there's Jillette
Stadium and it's it's unbelieved a really cool atmosphere. Great
it is if you're going to go on the road
to playoffs, it's a it's a cool place to play
and a place to play very difficult. You know, fans
are awesome, the atmosphere is awesome. But that's what playoff
(14:54):
football is about. And you want to be in those
intense atmospheres and so the excitement in the air and
at the stadium in that town, you feel it, and
I've always enjoyed going That may not have always been
the outcomes, but I've always enjoyed going there, and uh
and at least I've had some fond memories there. Hopefully
you can create another one this week.
Speaker 6 (15:14):
No doubt, a trial by fire, There's no doubt it
will be that.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
The one and only Joe Hortiz.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
Happy New Year to you, Joe, Thank you for the accessibility,
and have a great trip out there.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Good luck to you.
Speaker 7 (15:25):
Appreciate it, guys, thanks for having me.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
On a Gordy Chargers GM.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
And that Carson Beck is freaking out. Man.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
Yeah, it's three to nothing, Miami moving the ball, Miami
looking good the over, but you know that can change
in the second, heart change in a second, man, that
over could show one hundred years.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
You know it's been a hundred years. One hundred years.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
Hey, you guys are doing pretty good hanging in there,
No doubt you guys are. It's almost like you guys
are sitting up a couple of inches taller because your
sack is so big and you've been hanging out all night.
But I don't know if you're gonna hang in till seven.
I don't think yeah they can. I don't think you
could do it.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
I think they got the balls.
Speaker 6 (16:13):
We'll be right back with three things Thursday. We got
more giveaways. We're gonna give away black Matt Leinard here
at some point.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
And look what we just got, added p Steve van
Dorn has contributed four pair of Vans to give away
four gift certificates for a pair of Vans, and he
said anyone can win, but that g damn table in
the back.
Speaker 6 (16:36):
Everybody, everybody but van Dorn actually specifically and said, no, no,
not the table in the back. Anybody else can win
the vans. He really did say that, He actually did.
He just not like you guys.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
We love it. Absolutely, We'll be back with more.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
Petro said money on AMPI seventy LA Sport.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
We've made it even easier to take LA Sports with you.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Make AM five to seventy or your favorite AM five
seventy LA Sports podcast a preset on the iheartradiop using
Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
We got breaking news, breaking news.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
Not only is old miss scoring a long touchdown helps
with you're over, but Lane Kiffin has been dealt to blow.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Pete Fammil reports.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
Washington quarterback Demond Williams has announced his intent to return
to Washington. He announced earlier this week that he'd intended
to transfer, and then Washington said we will sue you
into oblivion. And then Demond Williams said, guess what, I'm back.
(17:53):
No heart feelings, and Jedfish says, hey, let's work it out.
So they are going to work it out. Mark lane
Kiffin drama. Lane Kiffin just watched the running back that
he tried to get Lacey to go to LSU with him,
who decided to stay at Old Miss this week, run
(18:14):
a seventy three yard touchdown and demand Williams thirty one
minutes ago told him, no, dice, I'm not coming. It's
gotta be a punch of the nuts. But we're live
here at the Serritos Bjay's Restaurant in brue House. We're
having a great time. We appreciate everybody here. I'm sorry
I gave away that kid's shoes.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
I forgot they were for the kid. I just didn't
want to over. Oh, the Mayor's here. Frank Yoka Yama
in here. Frank, You're the best. Frank. We love you, Frank.
Speaker 6 (18:46):
We kept our Yeah, we got our proclamation. It's like
the Ark of the Covenant. It goes before us into war.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Got my twelve Tribes of Israel, cheese balls, movies over here.
The one and only Frank Yoka Yama watched his I
watched one of his city council meetings the other night
on TV and it was a great on YouTube and
it was a great watch.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
He runs a great meeting. Can we turn on Frank's Mike?
Is it on? Bert? There we go. Frank Yoka, y'am everybody,
the mayor of Siritos.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Welcome everybody to Sirritos.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
How's it going, Frank, It's great.
Speaker 9 (19:23):
I'm so happy to see all of you again here
in BJ Ciritos, the best BJO, best BJ's in southern California.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
There's no doubt about it. That's what they say, you.
Speaker 9 (19:33):
Know, because I went to another another remote and I
saw a heck of a lot more people here in Cerritos.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
That's right, that's you know.
Speaker 6 (19:40):
What's what I'm talking about too, Camdon Downey and that
is Downey slander.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
And I.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Mentioned that city. I didn't mention the city, but he
or she knows what you're talking about. This is a
big city destination for us. Frank.
Speaker 9 (19:51):
Yeah, but you know, it was so good to see
you guys last time, and I was so proud that
the city of Ciritos could give you the well deserved,
well earned proclamation clamation from the Crito City Council.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Behold, behold, it's glory.
Speaker 9 (20:05):
For your exemplary, outstanding career as the pre eminent sports
talks radio show.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
We'll take it and the city of Soritos.
Speaker 9 (20:14):
But but after giving this to you a couple of
weeks ago, I'm expecting you guys probably have about a
half dozen we donations.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Now we don't. We don't have this one. There is
still the only one.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
Why this goes before us into battle, because we are
so proud of this proclamation now, Frank, I usually when
I visit the city, on my way over to the
BJ's here next to the North Drum rack, I visit
Pat Nixon Park and take a picture with Pat Nixon.
Today I didn't because I had to go to the dentist.
(20:45):
But I thought about going over to Don Knabi Park
and and you know, taking a look at the fountain
and stuff like that. How much do you really have
to keep an eye on these parks as the mayor
and how much do people come around and complain about
it at the city council meeting.
Speaker 9 (20:58):
People expect well maintained, well kept parks in ci Ritos,
and we the City Council is doing everything they can
to take care of the parks. And that's why we
are going to have a ground groundbreaking uh project kickoff
in March for our wonderful Heritage Park.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Yes, Heritage Park, because you heard about it. I'm a
city council now working it up.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
That was a softball for you, Frank Petros watched the
city council, meaning now he knows.
Speaker 9 (21:30):
Yeah, where we are going to do some maintenance and
upgrading and capital improvements, swing set, taking care of the
awesome island. Heritage Park has an island. You have to
cross the bridge into it, and you know, you know a.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
Lot of ducks in the previous years, that work's been deferred.
Speaker 9 (21:52):
But Frank, you Mayor Frankreli Okayama and my city council,
we're going to take care of Heritage Park with the
work kicking off in.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
Y what I what I noticed watching the meeting, Frank,
was that Linda P. Johnson seems like she's like your
your mayor pro tem. Right, Yes, she's like your partner.
Like you guys run that council and if C or
any of those other people try to step in, you know,
you gotta you gotta regulate.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
You got well, Frank and Linda they you know, mayor mate.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
The vote goes through those two. That's what I gathered,
and it was a wonderful thing to see.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Yeah, Linda P. Johnson is my maryor ProTem.
Speaker 9 (22:29):
I couldn't be a luckier mayor good, but I will
point out that Linda P. Johnson and I came on
the Petros and Money Show and next thing, you know,
I became the mayor and she became the maryor Protems's.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Exactly right, Mark Polito didn't stand a chance.
Speaker 6 (22:43):
King makers were at Polito kigmakers, you got no chance.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
How many of the signatures on this Mark Polito? Uh,
Sophia C Sophia say say say Jennifer Hwang, Jennifer Houn
exactly right? Yeah, were all of them in support of
this proclamation? Did anybody pushback that you force them all
to sign it? Or did they do it up their
own free will.
Speaker 9 (23:04):
They They know that Petros and Money, they love Critos.
You bring your fans the Critos. Thank you for bringing
your fans the Sritos. And again I went to another remote.
The biggest Petros and money remote is here at the BJ.
Speaker 6 (23:18):
Series exactly right, and the best, therewith and the best.
There was only one abstaining vote, Matt. Nobody voted against it.
No one umstaining vote. So other than Heritage Park, anything
new to promote before we move on, Frank.
Speaker 5 (23:32):
Yes, ci Ritos is.
Speaker 9 (23:35):
Critos is the city into region that all every year
has the Martin Luther King Junior Day Ceremony.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
It's in the morning at our Crito Center for the
for the Performing Arts on Martin Luther King Day, January nineteenth, Monday.
Speaker 9 (23:48):
I invite all of the Petros and money fanss.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Does it get better?
Speaker 8 (23:52):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (23:53):
I love it.
Speaker 9 (23:54):
So it's at Oursrito Center for the Performing Arts and
help all of you can come all day, just the morning,
just the morning.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
Yeah, all right, beautiful ceremony all day, just the morning,
exactly right. Watch the NBA exactly right, Frank, you're the best.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Frank. He got his T shirts last time.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
So let's if you could please look in your bag.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
I know you like us to do that. You're here, I.
Speaker 9 (24:16):
Don't think I don't think you've gotten in this before.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
And I love your dad. A beautiful coffee cup. I
won't use this. I'm sorry, somebody yelled in her ear
the toast.
Speaker 9 (24:27):
Because I I want your office to just how that's
from the City of.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
I'm gonna hold this close to my heart every morning.
This is a great coffee cup for the car.
Speaker 6 (24:37):
This replaces my West Virginia Campus police mug.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
I'll tell you that right now.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
This replaces my Yoda, best husband ever in the photo
of Yoda on it.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
So that is what this is going to supplant for
my morning coffee.
Speaker 9 (24:49):
And if I can also please say, I see some
hard working City of Sritos employees here there.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Who is that?
Speaker 5 (24:57):
Please tell us your full name?
Speaker 2 (25:00):
What is it, Sylvia.
Speaker 6 (25:04):
Syl That's one of the most important things about being
on the city councilor being the mayor. You gotta respect
city employees, right.
Speaker 9 (25:14):
Sylvia, roy Ball and our hardworking tea team take care
of Sirito City Hall.
Speaker 5 (25:19):
Thank you, Sylvia.
Speaker 6 (25:21):
You can't get elected and then come into the city
hall and act like you're better than the city employees.
You do that, you're not gonna last very long on
that city council, right, and Yoka Yama will censor you,
and I'll watch it. I'll watch it on YouTube.
Speaker 9 (25:34):
Petros and money, Can I please pass out some City
of Torito's twenty twenty six calendars home you.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
We got one hanging in our studio, got one in
my car. That's how I keep up with the world.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
If it's good enough for us, it's good enough for
these folks, that's for sure.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
Thank you for having a quick return back to Sritos.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Oh we love it here. I bless you and your family. Frank,
your great father and mayor and leader in your community.
Frank Yoka Yama, everybody us all. Somebody filled this up
with gin? Please?
Speaker 8 (26:05):
Thank you?
Speaker 4 (26:05):
All Right, Matt, you want to do Should we do
the three things Thursday? We can do it? Yeah, why not?
Speaker 6 (26:12):
We'll get to the three things Thursdays. We take another
promotional photo. This happens a lot at City Olives. Does
I'm coming to the next city council meeting?
Speaker 4 (26:19):
What is it? Two weeks? Two weeks?
Speaker 5 (26:21):
Let it next city council second and fourth Mondays of
the month.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
I just want to sit in the back. You know,
I don't want to trouble the best. Man.
Speaker 9 (26:28):
If you come to the city council meeting, you will
be presented with a proclamation. During our presentation, I'm coming out,
so give me the give me the heads up that
you're coming.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
You will receive another proclamation. Individual.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
I won't even stand in the parking lot and coming
to the city council meeting. Man, No chance, all right,
no chance. I gotta go hit up the one in
Hunted Beaches that I gotta make a run.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
He's gonna pass out some calendars.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
Folks, guys, bear show him your appreciation for his wonderful
patronage of the interest and money show. There's nobody better
than Frank Yoka, Yaho, but nothing better than the great city.
All right, it's time for three things Thursday, funsters.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
All right, the Chargers are headed to Foxborough to take
on Thank you, mayor, Frank. We appreciate you to take
on the Patriot. Frank was gonna come through in the
wild card round. Always presents me whenever we talk about
the Patriots with an opportunity to talk about the butterfly
effect and it jogged my memory Pee when you mentioned
Jillette Stadium, because it is perhaps not irony, but certainly interesting.
(27:41):
An interesting tidbit about the Patriots is, prior to Robert
Kraft owning the team, it was owned by Victor Kayam.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
Yeah, is that that? She's a lovely lady. Victor Kayam,
My apologies.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Star the man behind Remington razors, uh, the Remington Electric razor,
and that is where his fortune came from. He came
upon some bad bets, some financial struggles, and in nineteen
ninety one he was going to be bought out by
another gentleman. His name James Orthwine was going to buy
(28:16):
the team out from Victor Kiam and move the team
to Saint Louis, Missouri.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Wow. Because they were thirsty for it.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Because Boston could not support the Patriots and the Cardinals
had left at that exactly right, the Cardinals were gone,
the Patriots were gonna move. But through some shrewd real
estate maneuvering to buy the land surrounding Foxborough and a
minority stake in the Patriots, Robert Craft was able to
(28:44):
thwart that overtaking by Orthwing or orth Wine and buy
the team himself. Turn it into the juggernaut that it
is today. But we were but seventy five million dollars
and one gentleman away from the Patriot. It's no longer
being in Boston, but a football franchise in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
So never forget. Georgia Frontieri filled that gap a few
years later. Exactly right, she did.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
If you like old school football, if you like immovable
for us versus unstoppable object, Chargers Patriots is for you
two of the best defense. They are the two best
defenses that will be playing each other in the same game,
and they will likely do everything they can to lean
into that part of the identities of their team. Mike Vrabel,
from his pressler yesterday, said a number of old school
(29:32):
football cliches to make his point on whether or not
they will advance in the postseason.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
Quote, let me tell you, we're gonna play football. We're
gonna play hard.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
They want to see what happened, he said. They want basically,
they want to run the ball. We want to run
the ball. They want to stop the run. We want
to stop the run. They stick to their game plan
where you down and execute in critical situations.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Former Raider Well that's coincidence because that's what we did.
It's right off season by the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Robert Splain continued with the tough talk quote, the Chargers
want to be the biggest, baddest team. We want to
be the biggest, baddest team. Sunday will come down to identity.
That's what is on tap. I can't wait. Man, it's
gonna be a it's gonna be a real to do
it is. I mean, you're gonna be pretty excited.
Speaker 6 (30:20):
It's very exciting the beginning of that old Monday night
football beginning with the two Helmets class the.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Explode, and then Bos comes up starts singing, it's gonna
be great to the picks because I will not be
here Tomorrow'll be on a plane headed to the East
Coast for the Sunday night football game.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
What time is it? You're fine?
Speaker 3 (30:39):
All right?
Speaker 2 (30:40):
I'll cut these down Rams the Panthers. That's you're gonna
do these in order, Rams, Vy Panthers. Rams are laying
nine and a half and there no, they're laying ten
and a half. They lost his nine and a half
point favorite straight away to the Panthers, thirty one to
twenty eight. It was a wacky game. The Panthers had
to pick six in there. But the Panthers have stumbled
(31:01):
upon some bad times. They have gotten worse the last month.
They are not running like they were. Chewba Hubbard is
rushed for a combined seventy eight yards in his last
four ric O'Donnell one hundred and forty seven combined in
his last four. The Panthers were a rushing machine. When
they lost that, they lost their mojo. They have only
scored sixty four points over those four games, that is
sixteen per so much like they feasted on bad opponents
(31:22):
and hammered them all season long. Beat the Titans by fourteen,
Saints by twenty four, Bucks by twenty seven, Cardinals by
twenty eight. I do believe with the guys looking toward
that Lombardy and emphatic win an arrest in the fourth quarter,
should they have to go to take on Seattle, who's
on a buy, they will hammer the Panthers. I will
lay the ten and a half Bears. Packers hate this one.
(31:44):
It was Packers minus one and a half. Bears money
came flooding in. It was Chicago minus half. That line
I heard, it's coward move that line.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Oh, no doubt. We talk so much Chicago Bears football.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
And it was then now Packer money Tim Kates flooded
the market and it's back to Packers minus one and
a half.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Half.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
Hard to take a team that's lost their last four,
which is the Packers, including a game.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
Oh no, he slipped even though we ran a full
back through. I'm gonna take the Bears.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
I'm gonna take the one and a half points, and
I will take Kayleb and Cowherd Punk who has thrown
ten touchdowns at just two picks in his last five
and has only taken five sacks in those five games.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Sunday Bill's Jags crazy line. The Bills are favored by
one and a half against the hottest team in football, Jacksonville,
winners of eight in a row. They got a four
thousand yard passer and eleven hundred yard rusher and uh,
they run the ball and they stop the run. They
are number one against the run, allow eighty six per game.
The Bills want and need to run. With the league's
needy leading rusher and James Cook, the Bills have allowed
(32:43):
the fifth most rushing yards Miami's in Is that your guy?
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Fletcher.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
No, that's the other one. The other guyer just fell
on his ass? Is that the Uh that's not Releak Brown,
is it?
Speaker 4 (32:55):
I believe that was Jojohansson Brown. There we go?
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Where was I at? I'm gonna take the Jags and
the one and a half points Eagles. Forty nine ers
will take the Eagles. They play uninspiring football, but the
forty nine Ers have lost just about their entire defense,
including their entire linebacking corps. So I will take Philly
lay the five and a half and not touching the
Chargers Pats obviously, But with the Texans and Steelers outside
in frigid Pittsburgh, I'm gonna say, with the dominant Texans
(33:23):
defense and their lackluster offense, I will take the under.
I see a seventeen to thirteen style game, I'll take
the under.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Thirty nine. That's it. How many picks are those, Matt?
Speaker 2 (33:33):
That is five of the six games. I will not
pick Chargers Pats.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
But I know what you think is gonna happen. You do,
But you know, maybe I'm a little pissed. I don't know.
I don't know, am I my scenior.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
I just listened to Hortez man. He's got me wanted
to run through a wall.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
So there we go. Those are your picks.
Speaker 6 (33:51):
We'll be right back with David Vase. He's got Dodger
Talking seven o'clock. You don't have to stay for that,
but you could. You guys are s own so much.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
Sack.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Oh, we got more things to give away. We have
not given away black Matt Liner yet.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Yeah, I wants black Liner clear out. He's going to
clear out.
Speaker 6 (34:09):

to give away. Just gave away our final BJ's Restaurant

pretty good game.

I want an only David Mass Spectrum Sports Net MLB Network,
our reporter right here on AM.
Speaker 4 (36:08):

Speaker 6 (36:10):
Hard to imagine in LA sports franchise bringing more collective
pleasure to a fan base than the Dodgers have for
LA in very recent memory. It's been great, and Massa
has been right in the middle of all of it.
He joins us on your Southern California to yo toa
dealer celebrity hotline.
Speaker 8 (36:28):
Hello, Dave, Hi, guys, everything's great. Getting ready for access

Speaker 8 (36:46):
We're gonna be good. We're gonna be good. You just
flip on sports Net LA at that b Jason soritos, Well.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Not a bad idea.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
We're watching Rutgers Illinois basketball right now, so maybe, well
what about the game.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
We can get to?
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Well, no, well we'll put it on the Rutgers illin
Ois screens or the whatever's in.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
The husband of the GM is going to start texting
her again. She got all what happened? Her husband rattled
her upset?
Speaker 6 (37:07):
Yeah, we were just joking around about the TVs and
her husband's like you.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
I met an incredible.
Speaker 8 (37:15):
Jeweler from Currito said Javier's in Pasadena a couple of
weeks ago. Talia. Maybe there's a Talia out there that
may swing by.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
B Jason Soridos and your personal jeweler. We'd love to
see you. I'd love to meet your personal jeweler. You
know who didn't win a ring last year?
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Boba she Ha good transition, pe Ah.
Speaker 6 (37:38):
What is the latest on the Bobaschett deal, David? Is
there more to say than we talked about the other day.
Speaker 8 (37:44):
Well, there are reports emerging out of Philadelphia tonight that
Bobaschett and the Phillies had a face to face meeting,
increasing speculation that part of the Phillies thinking of hiring
Don Mattingly as the Phillies bench coach was to help
(38:05):
lure Ba Bashett away from anybody else. Mattingly and Bo
Bashett had a very close relationship with the Blue Jays
as he was the bench coach there, and he is
going to be a very big part of the courting
process and already has been, along with a lot of
of the other Phillies players trying to convince Bo Baschett
(38:29):
to come to Philadelphia, and it's looking more and more
like the Phillies may be in the lead for Bo Bashett.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Well, you know, when you're calling Bryce Harper not elite
and maybe it's time to get rid of them or something.
I guess if you want to go play for that team,
you can do that, Bo, or you can come.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
To two times. Dave.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
I love the post you had today about it being
one to eight and it's Yamamoto Day. I know, if
Blake Snell had two numbers, certainly you would focus on that,
but since he's just a single digit guy, Yamamoto gets
the tip of the cap.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Do you think that Yamamoto.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Gets the love that he deserves or is it just
you know, Otani's Otania one of one Unicorn style and
that's why it was show hey Day yesterday as opposed
to today Yamamoto Day.
Speaker 8 (39:13):
Yeah. Look, I thought that was a smart play by
MLB network, and they need to highlight the best player
on the planet more and he's in a different category.
But I do believe that Yamamoto is a little overshadowed
by the enormity and the greatness of Otani without there's
(39:35):
an argument to be made that Yamamoto had a greater
impact on the Dodgers this past postseason, let alone in
the World Series and show Hey Otani, I.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Think it's the best picture in baseball, Dave, what do
you say to that your tongue?
Speaker 8 (39:53):
I think Trek Skouble would have something to say about that.
But that never heard be top top top five for
me right now, if not top three after I don't
know who else would have done what Yamamoto did and
pitch in Game seven after going six innings in Game
six that there's nobody in baseball that I can think
(40:15):
of that would have laid it all on the line
the way Yamamoto did.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
Dave.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
We had Greg Amsinger on with us to push the show.
Oh you heard it, So you heard he did his
list of the greatest Otani moments and it led me
to phenom.
Speaker 8 (40:32):
Rotani.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Oh yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
Made I made a mental note, Dave.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
I made a mental note to take away one thing
he said to share with you to further the story.
He said he believed if it was Otani's list, that
his number one moment would not be the three home
runs and ten strikeouts, but it would be striking out
Mike Trout to win the World Baseball Classico.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
What is?
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Do we have an update on the World Baseball Classic yet?
And if not, when, do you suspect we'll start to
figure out what the heck's going on there?
Speaker 8 (41:08):
No, it seems like Outani is going to play. It's
not clear whether or not he's going to pitch. There
are conflicting reports about Yamamoto and whether or not him
and the Dodgers have talked this over, but it kind
of feels like it's trending towards.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
Him being.
Speaker 8 (41:27):
Available right now. But if he doesn't feel right, I'm
sure you know he's not going to risk his major
league season with the Dodgers. But it seems like it's
trending towards both those guys in some capacity participating in
that made for television tournament.
Speaker 6 (41:44):
Oh aren't they all made for television? The one and
only David Massey joining us on the Petros and Money Show.
Dave is the door opened for a Cody reunion? And
wouldn't that be something fun and warm like when Matt
Camp came back.
Speaker 8 (42:00):
I would love it. Everybody love Cody Bellinger. I know
the guys on the team would love to have Cody
Bellinger back. Look, the Yankees have not been able to
come to any deal with Cody Bellinger. The longer he's
out there leaves that door open that not only may
he leave the Yankees, but maybe comes back to the Dodgers.
(42:23):
And look, like I mentioned a couple of days ago,
to you guys, it's not so much about the price
tag and you know, being taxed one hundred and ten
percent on any salary on every dollar for the Dodgers.
It's more about, you know, the length of the contract
at this point in time, and I'm not sure Cody
Bellinger is getting more than four or five years from
(42:45):
the Yankees. And if all things are equal, maybe on
a shorter term, two three year deal, you know, if
it's one year less than what the Yankees are, Mets
or whoever's offering. You know, I feel like he fits
perfectly for what the Dodgers are looking for. A good
offensive player that is versatile in the outfield and also
(43:07):
can do something that no other outfielder can do, and
that's play Gold Glove caliber first base if needed.
Speaker 6 (43:15):
All right, Dave, you went to a high school basketball
game the other day at your alma mater, I believe,
And it was a hotly contested deal.
Speaker 4 (43:23):
What do you have to report? Where were you? What happened?
Speaker 8 (43:27):
All right? So I did go to Notre Dame High School.
I haven't been back for any sort for event.
Speaker 6 (43:36):
Ever, really, so my never went to watch Justin Fargus
run the ball or anything.
Speaker 8 (43:43):
No. I went to see Jabar Craigwell, who was in
my class, play football and run around Sherman oaks like that.
But ever since I left, I have not been back
for any sort of.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
Now made friends with but he never talked to him.
Speaker 8 (43:59):
Huh, guys, guys, high school sports is beneath me. I
don't show up to high school sports.
Speaker 4 (44:04):
Whoa day?
Speaker 3 (44:06):
Whoa not?
Speaker 6 (44:07):
Okay, Okay, it didn't go over well not okay.
Speaker 8 (44:14):
That ham and age city of Currito, so I'm sure.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
It's Oh my god, the mayor's here.
Speaker 8 (44:26):
Anyway. Uh. The Notre Dame of high school basketball coach
is something to behold. I mean, he freaks out on
that sideline. I believe his name's Matt's Argent. I mean
he's freaking out, screaming at the Revs, going wild. Meanwhile,
his team's blowing a sixteen point lead in the fourth
quarter to Loyola, and they lost by one point. So
(44:47):
they embarrassed me as I came back to my alma
mater and blew a sixteen point lead in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 6 (44:52):
Oh, there's a couple of Loyola cubs that are excited
in the back of the room.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
Mass Eh. Yeah, you'd be shocked to know the white guys.
Who would have ever guessed.
Speaker 8 (45:05):
Well, there's my update from my first high school sporting
event quite some time.
Speaker 6 (45:09):
Oh, the coach is freaking out in a high school
basketball game. Welcome to the world, Dave. Yeah, someone doesn't
go to any high school events.
Speaker 8 (45:16):
Coach wasn't doing that.
Speaker 6 (45:18):
Well, it's Loyola. They hold themselves a very high standard,
all right, Dave. And who do you got on the show?
Speaker 4 (45:24):
The way?
Speaker 8 (45:24):
That kid that left the school, Stokes, he was at
the game. Here's a game.
Speaker 4 (45:31):
Yeah, you know, you know it's all good now. It
doesn't mean why they.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Used to tell you to get cash, a check over here,
get a free meal over there, you know whatever.
Speaker 6 (45:38):
Hang out at the red robin sector, right, Dave? Tell us, Uh,
who's coming on the show tonight. It's a real big show.
Speaker 8 (45:45):
Yeah, Max Munsey's going to join us on sports and
at LA we're going to share that conversation on Dodger
