great couple of days here for what we now are
calling heart Knocks. Steve Hartman, Jonas Knox with you have
had a great time.

And you know, I just again I'm a little bit
humbled here, and I say that with all sincerity because,
as you know, Jonas, I was there the very first
day of the Petros and Money Show as Petros joined
Matt money Smith for their show. It seems like yesterday,
and it's spent a lot longer than that.

What is it twenty years now? Is it twenty years?
I mean, it's just unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
I remember when they made the move.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Remember Matt money Smith was at k Rock and there
was this, you know, rumblings of the them doing.

Some sort of a pairing. And then here we are
all these years later.

Well, what happened originally is that Matt money Smith was here,
Joe was originally with him, and then you know, and
eventually Petros became available to do the show and the
legend was born. So it's been humbling for both of
us to have a chance to hang out the last
couple of days, to sit in for petros and money.
You know, when we talk about all time greats and

PMS certainly has shown that.

Over the years. You think about Mike Trout.

You know, Mike Trout, he got to play in the
All Star Game and he really was appreciative.

You think about a guy that is going to be
a guy that is going to be.

A first ballot Hall of Famer. Not only is a
three time MVP, so a four time.

Runner off for MVP. Okay, three first four seconds.

Obviously, injuries have taken their toll, but it's been great
for the Angels fans to see their future Hall of Famer,
first ballot Hall of Famer back out on the field.
And I love the fact that the American League decided
to bat him lead off. You know, he really has
earned that over the course of his career, and from
what I understand, jonas Man, he was soaking up every moment,
like here's a guy again who's had a Hall of

Fame career, no question about that. You know, it's been
unfortunate Mike Tratt's been saddled on a franchise that has
not won a single playoff game in his entire career,
that the one.

You know. I was actually at Angel Standard.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
For the first two games of that series they played
that year against the Royals, and they lost both the games.
I think they both were in extra innings. It was
a really weird situation. Went back and got swept out
of that series. Mike was I think one for twelve
or whatever he was in that series. But you know,
this is still a guy that goes down is one
of the all time great So I thought it was
really cool to see Mike trout out there after missing

obviously several years with injuries, back out on.

The field for the All Star Game.

I mean he's a Philly guy. He goes back for
the Eagles games. I think he's got season tickets. So
Philly guy threw and through Also big Weather NERD, which
I'm a big fan of, Like I love weather. If
anybody's listened to me talk about that, I don't know why.
It's a weird thing that I'm into.

I didn't know this, Yeah, I don't know why. It's
just I mean, do you have weather everywhere on the planet?

What do you do?

I've got multiple weather apps on my phone that I
can pull up at anytime. When my son and I
play baseball, we check the wind direction, you know, like
we're like we're looking for the flags at rig It's.

Just the whole thing's weird. I can't explain. It's just bizarre.

But the point is he's such a good dude and
so well respected, and I think people sort of look
at him and continue to ask the question, is this
it like? And and there's nothing wrong if this is
what it is.

It just seems like.

He's content man like, he's he's okay being with the
angels like, and that's that's that's my read on it.
And I don't know if you was gonna make the move,
it would have already happened by now. And I just
wonder if he's at the point now where he's like, look,
I'm established here, my family's here.

It would take a lot for me to wave my
not trade Jonas.

I was eyewitnessed to a very similar situation with Tony
Winn in San Diego. I remember when Chet forty first
joined me in nineteen ninety one, and Chet, of course
was an East Coast guy, right, and so he comes
to San Diego.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
We team up and when he got to San Diego.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
He goes, you know, nobody even knows who Tony Gwinn is.
I go, what do you mean, No one knows Tony
gwinn At that point he'd already won like five batting
titles or whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
He goes, No, I'm telling you right now, nobody you know,
when you're in San.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Diego, nobody knows you know that you even exist. You know,
obviously there's no Internet in those days. It was a
different world and everything else. I just thought he was outrageous.
Anybody falls baseball knows who Tony Gwinn is. But Tony
had multiple opportunities. Obviously, he could have opted for free agency.
(04:49):
He could have left San Diego, but that's where his
roots were. He played at San Diego State. He played
on the basketball team as well as the baseball team.
Had an opportunity to take in San Diego. And you
know what happened late in his career. Now you've been
into a World Series. Is actually the first full season
in nineteen eighty four when the Potter's upset the Cubs

lost the World Series to the Tigers. But after that that,
you know, the Potteries sucked. They were terrible and then
all of a sudden in nineteen ninety eight they got
on a roll and they get back to the World
Series against the Yankees.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah, they got.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Swept out, but at least Tony had that one last
opportunity to be on the biggest stage.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
So I don't begrudge that.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
I love when somebody is loyal to an organization. And
people could always argue, well, you know, he could have
played a more World Series and obviously you don't get
the big stage.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Mike Trout really has been in the shadows.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
I mean of you're diehard baseball fan, you know obviously
who Mike Trout is. But in the general public outside
of you know, Orange County, no, no, they do not
know or really follow what Mike Trout has done over
the course of his career.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
The Tony gwincomp is actually a really good one from
that standpoint, where from a national perspective, I wonder how
many people still think about Mike Trout the way that
we know of him out here in southern California. And look,
if you needed a proof of just how much the
Angels are second tier to the Dodgers. Otani was doing

a lot of this stuff in Anaheim and it wasn't
until he got to the Dodgers. If you're like, well,
this guy's unbelievable, it's no, but this is ha's been
happening for a little while now, Like he's been that great.
And I think that if you wanted to take your
typical hot take sports talk if you don't win a title,
you're a failure approach to it, you could look at
Mike Trout and say, yeah, but we're going to diminish

his career. And apparently he cared more about, you know,
the money than he did winning and all like all
the other things can go along with it. I look
at it like this, he's a guy who has made
a fortune, He's been a great player. He's having a
bounce back year after all the injuries and whatnot, with
an opportunity if he stays healthy enough, he could be

in the five hundred home run club, which with the
injuries and his style of play, really says something meant
So what ultimately, big picture.

If he didn't win a World Series? So what if
he didn't get closed?

So what if he was okay with being in Anaheim
and not going and forcing the organization to trade him
to Philly back home, so it could be a part
of the Phillies to try and make a run. We're
talking about one of the great players of our generation
and he doesn't have that much longer to go. As
opposed to trying to chastise the guy for where he's at,
I'd rather celebrate the dude for what he's done.

I mean, I you know what, he is just one
of those guys that you're going to look back on
his career and what he accomplished over about a ten
year span.

I mean, he was again the.

Idea of being a three time MVP, and in only
one of those years twenty fourteen, does team get into
the playoffs.

By the way, you mentioned Sho Heo Tani.

That's one of the things that's always going to stick
with me is the fact that you know, we have
seen obviously these two years was show Hey as a
Dodger back to back World Series championships, and people are
gonna look back saying, how is it possible that the
Angels could have show Hey Otani two time MVP with
them MVP runner up, Rookie of the Year and never

even have a winning season.

How is it possible that you could.

Have show a Otani on your roster for six years,
forget the playoffs, you never even could have a winning
season and you had Mike.

Trout for most of that that time. How is that
even possible?

How is it possible that those two organizations are what
an hour away from each other? Like, that's just it's
literally two different planets. And for whatever reason, here we
are with with Mike Trout. But hey, all Star and
like I said, man he's got an outside shot of

I mean I don't. Rob and I have had this
many many times, you know, like who's been around longer?

I got to ask you just, you know, because we're
gonna get into the whole Lebron circus that is going
on because I know he's your guy, but I got
to ask you MLB All Star Game. There were some
people that I've seen that have been concerned about the
future because of the opt outs and whatnot, And my
stance on it is I'm less concerned about people opting
out of the All Star Game from the simple standpoint

of it's the most replicated the best sport and sporting
event to replicate, as opposed to the NBA or the NFL.

Even if the.

Second or third best All Stars are taking the field,
it still looks like an actual baseball game with all
the bells and whistles.

Where do you stand on it?

There's no game better as far as an All Star game.

And yes, this game got off to.

A bang and then it was nothing.

The pitching overtook it. It was a shame that shoe
Hey didn't show off. I thought that was week on
his part from the standpoint that he played the weekend before,
right the whole weekend at DH He should have come
to Philadelphia, got one at bat and then called it
a night. All the people in Japan were disappointed him,

and knowing that Aaron Judges has been out for the
last two months, six weeks with an real injury, you
know what I mean, He should have.

Been there for baseball.

And I think he let a lot a lot of
people Japan down, a lot of Dodger fans who want
to see him even if it's only one at bat.

But this was an outlier because Judge was heard a

But normally baseball doesn't have an issue with guys not
showing up.

talk host and they had a guest on named Bob Feller, Yes,
the Hall of Fame pitcher from the Cleveland Indians. So
I called in because I had a question. They didn't

even ask me what my question was going to be,

Minute say, real quick, was that what was Fred's show?
What was the name of Fred's showback?

No, no, no, Fred, Fred? It was Fred was fifteen

So it was it was you know what I don't

The first sports talk show actually was hosted in LA
by Bill Russell if you can believe it, that's right
in La Bill Russell, host of the first sports talk show.

But anyway, so I go on with this host and
the guy goes, all right, let's go out to uh Steve.

And Woodland Hills. What is your question for Bob Feller?
I said, Bob, I have a question for you. Why
did you set out back to back All Star games
when you were perfectly healthy?

All a ballbuster back then? Huh right, he was.

And the fact is that's exactly what happened. So we
would talk about like the modern guy sitting out back
in the forties, Bob Feller actually did choose to opt
out after being selected for the All Star Game of
actually playing in the game. And he did it consecutive
his reaccent obviously, because you know, I was fourteen years old.

I sound like some fourteen year old kid. He's like,
where did you hear that? I go, I just read
about it that you actually sat out back to back
All Star games because you didn't want to pitch or
hurt your arm or you know, And.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
I think you read about it on MLB broad dotty sitting.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Out all I don't blame show hey for sitting out
the game. What does he owe baseball?
Speaker 7 (15:28):
I mean, I understand what baseball because that's a show
that that that is a situation where it's a showcase
for the game he does.

If it'd be one thing Steve I would have, I.

Would agree with not playing.

Had he taken the weekend.

like he had to go out of his.

He could have easily had one at bat, let off
the game, and then come out.

That's all I'm talking about. If he was out the
whole weekend, then not buy him not playing.

I would now from just if you mentioned the fans,
and the fans standpoint, they want an opportunity to see
him play. This is where Rob and I've always you know,
battled on this to me, there's no guarantees when you
buy a ticket that you're going to get every star
that's going to play, Like, there's no guarantees that That's
how this is gonna work. I do think with the

All Star Game, there are ways around and maybe you
don't get to see him taking it back. Maybe you
don't get to see, you know, him go out there
and take the field or pitch an inning or a
third of inning, whatever it is.

But maybe you give it an opportunity.

You set up an autograph stand, get people a chance
to go get a picture with him. I don't think
it's that big of a deal that he didn't go
out and participate, like he screwed the fans over. If
the fans are that big a fan, turn on a
Dodger game on a five seven the LA Sports.

If you're that big of a fan, listen watch these games.

It's not my problem that you spent a bunch of
money and the guy's got a balky knee and he
couldn't make the walk.

Who normally watch him and want to be a part
of watching his whole career. Watching him at the All
Star Game. I think it's a disservice, I really do.

He hadn't played in six weeks.

fact that he was voted to the All Star Team

heck with you people.

I mean, we have an opportunity to do something the
Yankees last did ninety eight to two thousand and win
three straight World Series.

And the only way we're.

Going to get there it was our pitching staff and
to shovel with Snell out and Glass now out.

We don't know when they're going to return.

And remember, Rob, this is the first time.

been a Dodger, right, I have to go back his
angel days. So they're trying to milk thirty starts out
of the guy, hopefully enough innings to qualify for an
e r A title and then still have him healthy
for what the A.

You know that, Steve, he got no shot at an
ERA title.

like a Rob Harker menu, Like, can I tell you
a good Rob Parker story?

So the Great, so the Great Steve de Sager, Fox
Sports Radio legend, LA Sports Radio legend said he was
at the Was this at a Dodger game? I think
it was at Dodger Stadium. I think it was at
Dodger Stadium, and you know, the media in line to go,
you know, get food, and so they give you, I
guess a ticket for this game. It might have been

a playoff game to where you can get certain items,
but if you get beyond that, you've got to pay
for it. And so Steve is waiting in line like
everybody else, and all of a sudden, the line slows
down and there's some sort of an issue up at
the front with whoever's at the front.

Of the line.

Steve just hears Rob Parker at the front of the
line just say out loud, I'm not paying for that.
So he was hackling because they wanted to charge your
money for like an extra handful of fries or.

Whatever they were serving there. You ought to be a
shady yourself.

That is a true story.

And you know me, I'm only paying for what I
should be paying for, nothing extra, So I did not
pay for it.

I mean, listen, I've seen some things with him. I've
seen him pull Ralph's brand iced tea bags out of
his shirt pocket at Super Bowl in Arizona and just
ask for hot water. I'm fairly certain he probably can
expense that on his per diem, but he brought private

First of all, Rob and I are old enough to
remember when there was no charge for any p press
box food when I got started. When I left the
RAID organization and got started my radio career in nineteen
eighty nine, I lived on press box food.

I had no money.

I wasn't getting a paycheck starting my radio career, but
it was all free and go.

To Dodger Stadium, Angels Stadium. It didn't matter. It was
all free.

There was none of this five dollars, ten dollars whatever
they charged for press box food.

I was stuff my pockets with you.

Now do you also let me ask you this.

Do you also when you travel put on layers of
outfits so you don't have to pay for a checked bag,
and then when you arrived to the city, you were
going to leave the outfits you no longer won in
the hotel room with a note for the cleaning ladies
to take home with them, because there's so many six
foot five cleaning ladies out there that need an odd

couple hoodie that they could take home with their family.

You never know they might have a young kid, a
growing boy who might need an odd couple hoodie receive.

That was my That was my biggest trick when Spirit
was in business. I would never pay.

I would wear my stuff one and then I would

had a run of four consecutive weeks where my Friday

we had some kind of Chase.

And then Saturday I get off half hour later because

humbled here, and I say that with all sincerity because,
as you know, Jonas, I was there the very first
day of the Petros and Money Show as Petros joined
Matt money Smith for their show. It seems like yesterday,
and it's spent a lot longer than that.

What is it twenty years now? Is it twenty years?
I mean, it's just unbelievable.

I remember when they made the move.

Remember Matt money Smith was at k Rock and there
was this, you know, rumblings of the them doing.

Some sort of a pairing. And then here we are
all these years later.

Well, what happened originally is that Matt money Smith was here,
Joe was originally with him, and then you know, and
eventually Petros became available to do the show and the
legend was born. So it's been humbling for both of
us to have a chance to hang out the last
couple of days, to sit in for petros and money.
You know, when we talk about all time greats and

Over the years. You think about Mike Trout.

You know, Mike Trout, he got to play in the
All Star Game and he really was appreciative.

A first ballot Hall of Famer. Not only is a
three time MVP, so a four time.

Obviously, injuries have taken their toll, but it's been great
for the Angels fans to see their future Hall of Famer,
first ballot Hall of Famer back out on the field.
And I love the fact that the American League decided
to bat him lead off. You know, he really has
earned that over the course of his career, and from
what I understand, jonas Man, he was soaking up every moment,
like here's a guy again who's had a Hall of

Fame career, no question about that. You know, it's been
unfortunate Mike Tratt's been saddled on a franchise that has
not won a single playoff game in his entire career,
that the one.

You know. I was actually at Angel Standard.

For the first two games of that series they played
that year against the Royals, and they lost both the games.
I think they both were in extra innings. It was
a really weird situation. Went back and got swept out
of that series. Mike was I think one for twelve
or whatever he was in that series. But you know,
this is still a guy that goes down is one
of the all time great So I thought it was
really cool to see Mike trout out there after missing

obviously several years with injuries, back out on.

The field for the All Star Game.

I mean he's a Philly guy. He goes back for
the Eagles games. I think he's got season tickets. So

anybody's listened to me talk about that, I don't know why.
It's a weird thing that I'm into.

I didn't know this, Yeah, I don't know why. It's
just I mean, do you have weather everywhere on the planet?

I've got multiple weather apps on my phone that I
can pull up at anytime. When my son and I
play baseball, we check the wind direction, you know, like
we're like we're looking for the flags at rig It's.

But the point is he's such a good dude and
so well respected, and I think people sort of look
at him and continue to ask the question, is this
it like? And and there's nothing wrong if this is

It just seems like.

He's content man like, he's he's okay being with the
angels like, and that's that's that's my read on it.
And I don't know if you was gonna make the move,
it would have already happened by now. And I just
wonder if he's at the point now where he's like, look,
I'm established here, my family's here.

It would take a lot for me to wave my
not trade Jonas.

I was eyewitnessed to a very similar situation with Tony
Winn in San Diego. I remember when Chet forty first
joined me in nineteen ninety one, and Chet, of course
was an East Coast guy, right, and so he comes
to San Diego.

We team up and when he got to San Diego.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
He goes, you know, nobody even knows who Tony Gwinn is.
I go, what do you mean, No one knows Tony
gwinn At that point he'd already won like five batting
titles or whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
He goes, No, I'm telling you right now, nobody you know,
when you're in San.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Diego, nobody knows you know that you even exist. You know,
obviously there's no Internet in those days. It was a
different world and everything else. I just thought he was outrageous.
Anybody falls baseball knows who Tony Gwinn is. But Tony
had multiple opportunities. Obviously, he could have opted for free agency.
(04:49):
He could have left San Diego, but that's where his
roots were. He played at San Diego State. He played
on the basketball team as well as the baseball team.
Had an opportunity to take in San Diego. And you
know what happened late in his career. Now you've been
into a World Series. Is actually the first full season
in nineteen eighty four when the Potter's upset the Cubs
(05:10):
lost the World Series to the Tigers. But after that that,
you know, the Potteries sucked. They were terrible and then
all of a sudden in nineteen ninety eight they got
on a roll and they get back to the World
Series against the Yankees.

Yeah, they got.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Swept out, but at least Tony had that one last
opportunity to be on the biggest stage.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
So I don't begrudge that.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
I love when somebody is loyal to an organization. And
people could always argue, well, you know, he could have
played a more World Series and obviously you don't get
the big stage.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Mike Trout really has been in the shadows.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
I mean of you're diehard baseball fan, you know obviously
who Mike Trout is. But in the general public outside
of you know, Orange County, no, no, they do not
know or really follow what Mike Trout has done over
the course of his career.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
The Tony gwincomp is actually a really good one from
that standpoint, where from a national perspective, I wonder how
many people still think about Mike Trout the way that
we know of him out here in southern California. And look,
if you needed a proof of just how much the
Angels are second tier to the Dodgers. Otani was doing

a lot of this stuff in Anaheim and it wasn't
until he got to the Dodgers. If you're like, well,
this guy's unbelievable, it's no, but this is ha's been
happening for a little while now, Like he's been that great.
And I think that if you wanted to take your
typical hot take sports talk if you don't win a title,
you're a failure approach to it, you could look at
Mike Trout and say, yeah, but we're going to diminish

his career. And apparently he cared more about, you know,
the money than he did winning and all like all
the other things can go along with it. I look
at it like this, he's a guy who has made
a fortune, He's been a great player. He's having a
bounce back year after all the injuries and whatnot, with
an opportunity if he stays healthy enough, he could be

in the five hundred home run club, which with the
injuries and his style of play, really says something meant
So what ultimately, big picture.

If he didn't win a World Series? So what if
he didn't get closed?
Speaker 4 (07:10):
So what if he was okay with being in Anaheim
and not going and forcing the organization to trade him
to Philly back home, so it could be a part
of the Phillies to try and make a run. We're
talking about one of the great players of our generation
and he doesn't have that much longer to go. As
opposed to trying to chastise the guy for where he's at,
I'd rather celebrate the dude for what he's done.

I mean, I you know what, he is just one
of those guys that you're going to look back on
his career and what he accomplished over about a ten
year span.

one of those years twenty fourteen, does team get into
the playoffs.

That's one of the things that's always going to stick
with me is the fact that you know, we have
seen obviously these two years was show Hey as a
Dodger back to back World Series championships, and people are
gonna look back saying, how is it possible that the
Angels could have show Hey Otani two time MVP with
them MVP runner up, Rookie of the Year and never

even have a winning season.

How is it possible that you could.

Have show a Otani on your roster for six years,
forget the playoffs, you never even could have a winning
season and you had Mike.

future because of the opt outs and whatnot, And my
stance on it is I'm less concerned about people opting
out of the All Star Game from the simple standpoint

of it's the most replicated the best sport and sporting
event to replicate, as opposed to the NBA or the NFL.

it still looks like an actual baseball game with all

did you set out back to back All Star games
when you were perfectly healthy?

And the fact is that's exactly what happened. So we
would talk about like the modern guy sitting out back
in the forties, Bob Feller actually did choose to opt
out after being selected for the All Star Game of
actually playing in the game. And he did it consecutive
his reaccent obviously, because you know, I was fourteen years old.

I sound like some fourteen year old kid. He's like,
where did you hear that? I go, I just read
about it that you actually sat out back to back
All Star games because you didn't want to pitch or
hurt your arm or you know, And.

Out all I don't blame show hey for sitting out
the game. What does he owe baseball?

I mean, I understand what baseball because that's a show

and the fans standpoint, they want an opportunity to see

battled on this to me, there's no guarantees when you
buy a ticket that you're going to get every star
that's going to play, Like, there's no guarantees that That's
how this is gonna work. I do think with the

All Star Game, there are ways around and maybe you
don't get to see him taking it back. Maybe you
don't get to see, you know, him go out there
and take the field or pitch an inning or a
third of inning, whatever it is.

You set up an autograph stand, get people a chance
to go get a picture with him. I don't think
it's that big of a deal that he didn't go
out and participate, like he screwed the fans over. If

guess a ticket for this game. It might have been

a playoff game to where you can get certain items,
but if you get beyond that, you've got to pay
for it. And so Steve is waiting in line like
everybody else, and all of a sudden, the line slows
down and there's some sort of an issue up at
the front with whoever's at the front.

Steve just hears Rob Parker at the front of the
line just say out loud, I'm not paying for that.
So he was hackling because they wanted to charge your
money for like an extra handful of fries or.

couple hoodie that they could take home with their family.

I'm gonna run from the cops and then I'm just
gonna jump into the ocean to try and avoid the
arrests that according to this report from KTLA. You can
see some of the some of the video coverage on
social media. It looks like one of those guys getting
a Berry Bond's home run ball back in the day,
just swimming into the ocean. I've seen some dumb things done,

some dumb criminals. There was a guy that threw a
brick at a window to try and break into a
liquor store and it bounced off and knocked him out.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
There's video of that you can find.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Uh, this is right up there man like swimming into
the ocean to try and get away from the cops.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Not the best move in the world.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
I don't know where was he actually swimming to. Is
it you know, China?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Where where was this?

What was his game plan?

So I'm not I'm not familiar, but you know it
was off of will Rogers State Beach. Yes, and uh,
so I don't know what he was hoping to happen.
I would just say there are certain bodies of water
out there where this would have gone really.

Yeah, you know what, first of all, you're you're you're
assuming somebody that is committing a crime is thinking, you know, logically.

Talk about, you know when they talk about the uh
insanity defense, you know, like sometimes with some of these
guys doing outrageous things, including murder, and yeah, is that
a sane act?

I'm not exactly sure it is insane.

You are insane if you're gonna do some of these
criminal acts that we see people you know, put themselves
obviously in a bad situation.

Here's what I always wonder, all these high speed chases that.

I don't know if you've ever been on the road
when one is happening, But it.

Happens to me almost every time I leave by the
way ktlaight late at night.

I had a guy whizz by me on near Parkway,
Calabasas on the one to one heading back home, and
he was going so fast and he almost took my
rear view mirror off. And my question to these individuals
who like to make this move, do you think you're
gonna get away with helicopters, with as many squad cars

out there, with a new system where they can like
grab your tires like it's a claw machine from behind.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Do people think they can really get away?
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Has anybody ever gotten away in a high speed chase
never to be found?
Speaker 3 (33:44):
I don't get it all right.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
So I do two nights every week at KTLA, Friday
nights and Saturday nights. Okay, I'll pick up some extra days,
but those are my two nights. I'm there every night
Friday night. Our ten o'clock sports has been preempted by chases,
I would say half the time almost maybe. We actually
had a run of four consecutive weeks where my Friday
(34:09):
night ten o'clock sports was thrown in the garbage because
we had some kind of Chase.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
So that's what.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
And then Saturday I get off half hour later because
we do that eleven thirty midnight show. And you talk
about So I'm riding the one oh one right back
to West Lake Village. I mean ninety percent of the
time as I'm driving on that one oh one, all
of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Look, you can just and there's always two cars.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
It's ever just one. It's always two cars. Sam Yahoo
just blows by me. I could be going eighty. It's like,
I'm part So this guy's doing triple digits and there's
somebody right behind him, Like what exactly do you think?
Speaker 2 (34:47):
How do you think this is going to end?
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Now?
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Who gets the blame here? Did OJ start?
Speaker 8 (34:52):
It?
Speaker 10 (34:52):
Was he?

Okay, so because of that we've been so now so
if you want to talk about hey to OJ's legacy
and listen, oh it's it.

It's a mixed bag, all right.

There's a lot of people want to point out the
the rent a car commercial. There's some people might point
out was he in the Naked gun too?

Yeah?

He was absolutely that. You might bring up the double murder.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
I mean maybe that's something that you would think about
with OJ or his football career.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Well, don't forget Vegas.

I mean remember the whole thing where he stole back
his stars stand up in prison.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
There is that, and unfortunately the Bills will not honor
him at their new stadium in Buffalo. But when you
talk about a lasting legacy, the high speed chase has
become big business.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
And the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
The idea that every single time we will I literally
just it was like clockwork. I'd be standing on the set,
I got script all ready to go, and all of
a sudden, they're like, we got to chase.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
How about the people that were standing waving to OJ
and the Bronco as he was driving by, like it
was what are we doing here?
Speaker 3 (35:55):
And little did he know?
Speaker 1 (35:56):
But people wants that's why we go to these chases.
You can't take your eyes. You were better than others.
Some of them are like, wow.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
Okay, dude, Like and if you get a guy in
a motorcycle, you're waiting for that guy to get launched,
like that's going to end poorly. So but hey, Steve,
