Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is the Petros and Money Show.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
You are one of the kind, hosted by Petros Papaday
guests left school after sixth grade. Look at him and
the voice of the Bolts Mat Money Smith. The answer
is on money. There is nothing you can do. You
know it's coming. This is the Petros and Money Show.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
On the home of your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Make us your top preset on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
One loses everything when one loses one's sense of humor.

Speaker 5 (00:39):
Yeah dong the Ukes, Petro sand Money Am five to
seventy LA Sports Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. We
are going until six o'clock tonight. A first pitch gaalpin
Ford Broadcast Booth comes just after seven. Yoshi Yamamoto on
the mound, and no doubt a lot of Dodger converse

(01:00):
will be had considering the manner in which the game
was lost. Last night's second consecutive Rokie Sasaki start that
has been wasted, that has been peede away by the
bullpen and one particular member of it, in particular.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
The CAUC has crowed. There, Edwin Diaz. It crowed three
times last night, three times out of the last four saves.
The cock has crowed, and people are very upset. Dodger
talk was a myriad of screams, a wake up call,
so to speak, for Dodger fans. A lot of people
riled up about it. We'll discuss it.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
They're freaking out, pe We'll.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Talk to David Vasse. I talked to Tim Kates earlier.
Today's like Dodgers have a problem. They have a major problem.
I was like, dude, all right, take it. I get it.
I'm sure that there'll be a story about it.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
I mean, this was the same conversation we had last year.
We'll get into it. I mean we will, well conversation
last year.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
You're right, it is slow. Your role. Wait for the
rooster to crow's.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Crowl He's different down here.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
It's a different culture. He's different Dodgers versus Brewers. Tonight,
Yamamoto on the mount, as Matt said, so there'll be
another chance and a brand new sunrise. There'll be another
chance for the Dodgers to compete, and the bullpen to
show out, and maybe Sugar Diaz to go out there

(02:32):
and redeem himself unfortunate though.

Speaker 5 (02:37):
We all love a redemption story, don't we.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
We'd sure do. Look at Tanner Scott this year, Matt
before we get into anything else. We forgot it last
week and people were mad. Even though we put on
that great show at the Vans and everybody had such
a great time. We didn't do the frog Man Friday
stuff because we were so busy. We didn't even introduce
Mike Brown. But I think we should do it today

(03:04):
because it is a frog Man Friday. Yeah, the ocean
lullaby can calm even the most restless soul. Peterson Money
show on a frog Man Friday celebrates the wonders of
the seed the tropical storm La La affecting high school

(03:25):
football in Hawaiian We love lifeguards played by Sam Elliott
in The Great Movie nineteen seventy six is lifeguard. There
are people that protect us from the sea's fury, Navy,
coast Guard, the harbor Patrol, the policea. We also respect
and pay homage to the great Mike Nelson played by

(03:46):
Lloyd Bridges, one of our favorite actors who played kid
Gas under sea mercenary Mike Nelson in the Great Show See.

Speaker 6 (03:58):
Him Dave died at the hand two other men who
had learned to live underwater, and he could kill underwater.
There were no scars, no wounds to testify to what happened.
They simply turned off the valve that delivered air to
Dave Norfolk and watched him drown helpless. Then they turned

(04:20):
the valve back on, knowing that when and if his
body were found, he'd be just another scuba diver who
met with a mysterious accident. It would be nothing to
indicate homicide.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
I didn't know.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
Dave Norfolk or his killers. I didn't know that I
was soon to face those killers myself.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
Todd Lights thirteen to five.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
What are you nuts?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
We still got to take that Florida man. You know
what that's like these days.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
You got the Navy everywhere, you got frogmen, you got
the EC twos with the satellite tracking, you got the
spell two nine of salt choppers up the air.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
We're losing one out of every nine loads. That's no
duck walk anymore. Let me tell you, forget about money.
What do you suggest that's reasonable?

Speaker 4 (05:10):
The greatest organist ever, and he could be playing this
tonight at Dodger Stadium. The one and only d rule.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Yer.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Don't you Dodgers, no broil you in? Yes, very unfortunate

(06:10):
about Edwin Diazu. First, thank you to everybody that came
out to the BJYS in Montabella yesterday to see the
Petros and Money Show with Don McClain filling in. Don
was very gracious and lovely to everybody and took pictures
with people and even smiled on a few occasions. There

(06:32):
was believe it or not, Matt and they didn't watch
the Charger game there in Montabella. They had the Raider
game on.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
And that's not cool, man, what's up with all?

Speaker 4 (06:47):
And uh there was a guy in a Raider jersey
front and center who looked a lot like a Raider fan, and.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
He doing it out of respect to me. So people
could then put the audio broadcast on there or they
had it on every tvdio app, you know.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
And when I asked why there's no Chargers, everybody was
like right or you know. But the one guy had
a jersey on and he sounded a lot like the
Cookie Monster that he was really loud and excited about
the show, maybe overserved, and he didn't make it. Halfway
through the last hour. He went down with indigestion. He
walked out holding his chest.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Was in the pizza and it was I think.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
It was the dessert. It was the pozookie. At the end,
it took down cookie and I said he sounded when
we were doing the show, he said he. I said,
he sounded like the cookie Monster. And he had taken
a picture with Down and I and one of the
listeners photoshop the cookie Monster in between Donna Pretty Money. Also,
there was talk about buying like a really big oversized

(07:54):
jam Sport backpack at the mall and a few of
our a few of our over served listeners went over
there and we're like, give it to us, And that
was a little crazy. But we had a great time
at the Montabello BJS. And that's not the only event
we have to promote. We've had three events in six days.

(08:14):
It's going to be four and seven including Tim Kits
because tomorrow, Matt it's popping off on the four oh
five and Roscoe.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Yeah, Big Live Dodger Talk Special Edition at ten am
tomorrow and it does not come a la carte. It
is a full meal. Austin Barnes, Sean Green gonna be
there at the gaalpin Ford eightieth anniversary celebration eight decades
of service here in Southern California. The bak Ben family

(08:43):
been delivering as they are the number one Volume four
dealer in the history of the world, eighty years operating
here in southern California. At the party starts at nine am,
food games, chance to win tickets, and of course Tim
Kate's the centerpiece. A special live doctor Talk that starts
ten am tomorrow at gallping Ford. Very easy to find.
It is right off the four or five you exit

(09:06):
and it is basically right there next to the freeway.
So that is tomorrow starting at nine am with doctor
talk at ten am. Very wow.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
That's a lot of events. It feels almost like we
got a lot of make goods before the summer's over.
I know that's not the case.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
No, no, these these were these were all.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
It's a lot of events. It's a lot of dishes
to wash. Yeah, strands in the old duder's head if you.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
Know, gotta do it anyway.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
We we thank you for coming out. We know it
was short notice and it was still a great crowded monopelo,
So God bless you all. We sure appreciate it. And
Matt as you know, a lot of people are upset
about the closer. We're going to discuss Eddie Diaz the closer.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
Oh yeah, I imagine it will be a theme throughout
the course of the show. That would be my guess.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
But Matt, remember this, dude.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Brewers, let's go the best one.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
This is my favorite, you know, I mean, I think overall,
can we turn this out? This this, this is better
than the blue jersey.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Stop your feet, I'm your hands.

Speaker 7 (10:09):
Good, part of the team sitting in the stands.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Come see what you.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Come see what the times are. Come see what the
Brew is a do. We're Carmonager a superstar.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Better than all.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
It was that last line.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
It's so good. It is so freaking good.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
Come see with the Brewer's a doing. I mean.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Good.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
The Brew is a do, Carmonager a superstar.

Speaker 8 (10:48):
So be of the leader, faver, you want to join
in the Geir, stop your feet, cors.

Speaker 7 (10:58):
Good, part of the team sitting in the stands.

Speaker 8 (11:05):
Come catch the theme the fever with Brew for everyone.
Your excitement, that's in your faith.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
I'm in your hands. You're part of the teams and
Linda stands. Come see what's.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
The one game.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
I mean, I don't know what to say. Yeah, no
wonder they won last night, No wonder they blew sugar
gas trumpet out of his ass.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
Well, I think that was just a fastball. There was
flat puss, right you sure you feel like it, but
you know to believe and Brews feeder because there is
something about the way they deliver that line.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
It's pretty good.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
It's it's the hardest and it's not closed. The Beaver.

Speaker 9 (12:04):
Every year rounded through the right side, Churio will score
the throat. It's the third, it's late and Milwaukee has
grabbed the lead, two strike single from Jake Bowers the Beaver.

Speaker 8 (12:22):
Every one's your nags down in your beat.

Speaker 9 (12:35):
Clositing year in the right field, ranging in front of
the tracks.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
Wata. He makes the catch and that's the ball game.

Speaker 10 (12:43):
The Dodgers blow the safe and the series opener three
runs at the top line sitting foro Milwaukee. They come
back even and beat the Dodgers five to four, and
the Dodgers, who are two ounces away from pulling even
with the brus of the National League standings, alpha to
two games back and one of the more disappointing losses

(13:03):
of the season.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Than the teams and.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Sneak that one out of the back end man.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
So now the Dodgers closer that was supposed to save
last year's closer, who was awful and we talked about
all last year, is also awful, and now we're talking
about him like we talked about the guy last year,
and now people want the guy from last year to
be the closer now, even though he was so deeply
disparaged last year, because the guy this year is struggling

(13:48):
much like the guy last year's track. A difference between
that guy and this guy is the cock fighting.

Speaker 5 (13:54):
Underd It does certainly feel the nationality, the earrings, the entrance,
the production. It does certainly feel like a case of
dejefu signed the number one reliever on the market to
a gargantuan, record setting contract. Everybody praises, or i should say,
vilifies the Dodgers for having unlimited resources. Tanner Scott should

(14:20):
still be a Padre, should still be an Otani stopper,
but alas the Dodgers have too much money. Edwin Diez
should still be a met or he should be a brewer,
or he should be a cub, but alas the Dodgers'
pockets are too deep. They're the Evil Empire. And yeah,
that's one hundred and what would be a one hundred

(14:40):
and forty one dollars one hundred and forty one million
dollars worth of closers. And those two seasons between those
two guys is what we're talking about. One hundred and
forty one million to those two dudes, one that peed
away twenty twenty five and one that is peeing away
twenty ti twenty six.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Wow, it got our reality. What do you think it
is a coaching problem or a closure problem?

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Is a closer evaluation problem that has historically plagued Andrew Friedman.
For all of his talents, his ability to identify, to
trade for to develop, all of the things he does great,
getting the right character guys in the clubhouse, his blind
spot is and man is it a blind spot. It's

(15:32):
turning left in a school zone and the a pillar
on your nineteen seventy six Chevy van is blocking like
half of the crosswalk and you just turned into the kindergarten.
It has been atrocious what he has tried to do
with big money relievers when it comes to this team.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Well, I'm very sorry that it's come to this at
the end of the week. I didn't know that you
were going to come back to such disdain towards the
team we cover the Dodgers. Last time Matt was on
the air, the Lakers were owned by Mark Walter, and
now that he's returned the State Department, they've been flipped

(16:15):
like a duplex.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Yes, Tim, I think that's a pretty harsh assessment by you, Matt,
because on paper, they've made all the right moves in
the off season. I just said closer one position for
the closing spot. Kirby Yates on paper looked like a
great move coming off an All star season. Tanner Scott two
off seasons ago. Wow, they won the off season.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
Two guys.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
It's not like they're signing a guy with no arms.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
I mean Edwin Diaz. Everybody wanted him this past offseason.
That was a great coude to get him away from
the match. They're making the right moves. He's pushing the
right buttons.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
You mentioned Kirby Yates, you mentioned Tanner Scott. What do
they all have in common, Kates. They're all pitchers, they're
all old, they're all on the wrong. That's the whole team,
all coming off really good seasons the year before, all
coming off career seasons. They are old, and that's in it.
You don't want to pay closers late, and that was

(17:11):
something that I mean, it's it's listen. You never want
to fight a war on two fronts and you never
want to play.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
Like who, Matt, who fought a war on two fronts?
To whom are you?

Speaker 5 (17:23):
Those panthers were moving into Moscow and then I'll be
damned if winter didn't set in and turn the tide. Overnight.
We blew through four hundred miles like it was a
hot knife through butter, and all of a sudden winter
shows up. Our supply lines are frozen, and it's over. Yeah.
Kirby Yates was thirty eight, Tanner Scott is thirty two,

(17:44):
Edwin Diaz is thirty two. You pay these guys early.
You trade for Mason Miller. When you find an exceptional
talent at the closer position, you'll hold on to it.
You don't let it leave.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
You're right, Matt. I don't know why they Andre Friedman's thinking.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Well, perhaps we've been calling him by his wrong name.
We've been calling him and Edwin Diaz all season long.
Maybe it's just Eddas because he can't win. I can't win.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Play us out.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
You know that's from the Duke of Sports. By the way,
we can't. Yeah, that checks out.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
By the way, he's on crutches and he came down
here under the breaks.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
It's given the joke. So that's what I came home with.
You guys can use it if you want.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Listen, we're not handling this very maturely.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
No, but you hear me. I said it's ed because
he can't win.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
Yes, I heard it.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
And by the way, just the heads up moving forward
for those of you that come up to us and say, hey,
I got something. You should call him ed DS because
you can't win. And then when you follow that up
with you can use that on the air. We're not
going to use it on the air. Hey, hey, you
can use.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
That one on the Well, we just actually just did though,
I mean you.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
Can use that one on the air. We just use
that We did, didn't we Now I feel like the
ad couple.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Yeah, don't come here unless you want to win championships.
Not like Pulkas Indiana. They don't win nothing. What We'll
be right back with the top story of the day.
Stay with us.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
This is Petro Send Money.

Speaker 6 (19:24):
To man demand.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Hey everybody, what's cracking? It's a frog Man Friday on
the Petro sand Money Show. We're pleased to be with you.
On Ampire seventy La Sports Yoshi Yamamoto pitchers for the
Dodgers Tonight, first pitch at seven to ten, Marongo Casino.
Dodgers on Deck starts at six. Don't forget to podcast
the show on the iHeartRadio app or any of our

(19:51):

a live show with Mookie Betts exclusively at Dodger State E,
and so on and so forth. On the iHeartRadio app,
you can stream the show live there or podcast it
later and enjoy the high art that we call great

(20:12):
sports talk.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
Great sports talk.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
And right now it's time for the top story of
the day, Top story of it.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Well, we scratched the surface, and now it's time to
dig a little deeper.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
Pee.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
It's like one of those scratchers that you spend ten
bucks for and you gotta scratch off that first number
and it says, get.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Somebody to tell you and you won because they don't
understand it.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
It's right. Then you got to scratch off like the
other ones, and it's I do have.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
A hard time understanding thing. So it's not looking for
the scratchers.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
The number seventeen or do these all need to add
up to seventeen? Do I need a one and a seven?
And that's what we're doing.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
I don't understand how this game works at all, and
I can't imagine that all the stupid people in front
of me in line at seven to eleven understand how
to win these games that they're buying. They don't look
that smart anyway. Go ahead.

Speaker 5 (20:56):
Do you know if I won?

Speaker 4 (20:57):
I don't know. I don't ever know if I won.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
This is a big deal. This is a huge deal.
I have tried in weeks past, really in the last
week after our conversation with David Vasse and his exclusive
conversation with Edwin, who he referred to as sugar bas,
I believe the kids say you manifest things. I've tried
to stay positive.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Oh, you're very manifestation.

Speaker 5 (21:22):
I've tried to talk success into existence. I think that
still falls under the umbrella of manifesting.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
You do a lot of that.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
There is no avoiding it. Pe we've come to the end.

Speaker 6 (21:32):
You bully.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
Oh no, there's no sigh stepping it. The Dodgers have
the closer problem. They are blowing seas.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
That one caught me off guard.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
That was great a record rate, you bull. They have
had a closer problem for a long time. Dave is
kind enough to talk to us damn near daily, So
I will perhaps see how he approaches this and either

(22:09):
sit on this or share it, or recuse myself completely
from the conversation in moments, because look, Kenley Jansen, by
all accounts, is a great closer. Per his resume, the
totality of his resume, he saved the most games in
the history of the Dodgers franchise. But let's think about

(22:32):
when the stakes were at their highest. Oh no, twenty seventeen. Now,
perhaps the Astros are cheating and knew what was coming.
That can certainly be the case. But you win game two.
He doesn't blow it.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
You blow it.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
And they had only scored two runs in the game
up to that point before on a zero two pitch,
he serves up a tater Tomorrow and Gonzalez who sends
that rocket shot out of Dodger Stadium to tie the game,
And then of course they end up losing it in
the bottom of the ten and they end up losing
that game. Instead of going up to zero, it is
now one to one. He loses the game in the
bottom of the tenth inning in Game five. Now, in

(23:15):
his defense, they did score the thirteenth run of the
game off him, so twelve others seemed to maybe be
in step with them, knowing what was coming. But when
the stakes were the highest, uh, we got a blown
save and a loss. But still starting there when the
stakes were the highest. The following year World Series, he

(23:40):
blows the save in Game three. Now they would go
on to win the game in eighteen innings, and it
was a two inning appearance, and it was that second inning,
the ninth inning that got them. But you know, you
and I we grew up in an era of goose
cosage where four inning saves were the normal. Okay, so
God forbid, somebody need to go out there for an
extra inning in the World Series for God. And they

(24:02):
still got the winning that game. But maybe Biaz and
Madson and Alexander and Maida and Urius and Wood and
all of the guys that were needed for that eighteen
and eight effort, get rest and next thing you know
you even it up in Game four, which, by the way,
the Dodgers were up four to three, gave up a
run in the eighth to make it four to four.
They would go on to lose that game, fall in

(24:23):
a three to one hole.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
You bo geez.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
In twenty twenty, p our relationship with Dave Say was
perhaps at its most strained because he was yanked. We
remember ken Lee Jansen losing his closer job to Julio
Urias when the Dodgers should have taken a commanding three

(24:48):
to one lead after Game four.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
Julio Odias, we don't talk about him anymore and not
allowed to, are we not? You just mentioned him right there,
son a pitch?

Speaker 5 (24:57):
Where were you? They could have gone up three one,
but Kenlee Jansen blew the save and the series was
not at it two. Blake Trining got the save in
Game five, and of course they went to Julio Urias
for two and a third, never calling Kenley's number, to
lock up Game six and win their first World Series

(25:19):
in thirty two years. Ken Lee was nowhere to be
seen for the final two games because they decided can't
do it anymore, not gonna do it, and obviously since
they decided they were better off without him, letting him
go to various stops along the way as he chases
save number five hundred, things have gotten even more sideways

(25:40):
trying to find his replacement.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
You even say, are you saying that they blew it
trying to not only have they blown it on the field,
but off the field? Is that what you're trying to say,
trying to criticize the greatest front office in all of baseball?

Speaker 5 (25:51):
I am saying this is that we all have blind spots.
Mine happens to be with being on the road for
a couple days and taking a risk on leftovers that
in the fridge when you have adult children, you don't
know what the hell could be in there, a wild
array of bacteria. But if you look even at their
last two World Series wins, twenty twenty four is littered

(26:15):
with bodies, and these are in World Series wins. Freddie Freeman,
of course, saved Blake Trining in Game one against the
Yankees after trying and gave up a run on the
top of the tenth only to have Freddy's granny Freddy
meet Gibby.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
I remember that moment.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
Yeah, meet Freddy, That covered his ass. Game two, gave
up another run in the top of the ninth, Vessia
had to come in with traffic all over the bases
to get the final out and a four to two win.
Game three up for nothing. The guy they traded for
a mid season that they identified as their closer, Michael Kopek,
high leverage playoff innings, let's give an hip gives up

(26:55):
a dog or and two runs in the bottom of
the ninth. Dodgers able to sneak out of that and
hold on for the in. And it wasn't Copek in
Game five that was brought in to wrap up the series.
And I was the first one to see Walker Buehler,
a guy, yes, I remember, it's Walker Buehler that had
to go down there and get the safe. So what
did they do. Let's fix it. Let's fix it, and

(27:18):
let's hand seventy two million dollars to Tanner Scott. The
media proclaimed Otani stopper the number one relief pitcher on
the market. The rest of baseball says, Sweet Jesus, just
when you couldn't hate the Dodgers anymore. Now it's not
just starters and all star position players. It's bullpen arms

(27:42):
and Tanner Scott, he promptly leads the league in blown saves,
is not usable at all. In the playoffs, they have
to get a twenty one year old who's been on
the injured list for four months to build up his
arm and preparation to be their closer.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
Rokie, I remember how it was. I remember how upset
everybody was at the time. Matt, I remember he wasn't usable.

Speaker 5 (28:14):
And by the way, when.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
We aw that money, he was not usable.

Speaker 5 (28:17):
Correct, seventy two million bucks. Uh and after all that,
when Rokie got shaky. Now we can't go back to
that Tanner guy. We're going to go to our starters.
It's going to be Tyler Glass now here. Hey, Yama,
we know you just pitched a couple days ago. They
can give us like three and change. Sure, let's do that.
That is how bad this closer situation has gone. And

(28:41):
now the latest air sixty nine million bucks. We all
celebrated it, as we should. Everybody loves timmy trumpet.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
That poor woman with the afro has not gotten a
lot of run.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
No, when they see they boo, it's not her fault.
She's just a trumpet player. It's a great song.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
They want to take that trumpet and shove it up
Diaz's kool o.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
He blew it. It has been another disaster, no two
ways about it. And for whatever reason I can't explain it,
I believe the front office to be the best in
all of baseball. It is not just hard to it
is impossible to orrow.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
You think there's no You think there's no recovering for
Eddie Diaz. You think the riding's on the wall. You
don't think they they should keep running him out there
and see what happens.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
As Dave Roberts said yesterday, what do you want men
to do? What? What are what are my other options?
And I would have simply responded with the very snarky
but a typical response that is heard on this show
from time to time, what else are you supposed to do?
Not that? Not that? That's my answer to what what

(29:57):
do you want me to do? Not that? But he
but he's the closer, No he's not. I don't know
what your answer is to that question of what do
you want me to do? I know what you can't do?

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Well? Who pitches instead of Tanner Scott in the seventh
or whatever?

Speaker 5 (30:12):
Figure that out? Because there's a guy that gets pulled
out of the rotation until he can work some stuff
out with the Buzzers, with the Oklahoma City Express, with
the Savannah Bananas, when they come to town, with the
Pioneer League, wherever it is. You have to send him
to reps to get his confidence to figure out whatever

(30:36):
it is that he needs to figure out, so he's
not throwing ninety three and flat over the heart of
the plate to back to back hitters. Poor Roki Sasaki,
who has rebounded nicely with the aid of a cartoonishly
large glove, has now had both of his previous starts,
and last night he was grinding me, I mean absolutely

(30:57):
grinding that start out to try to give the Dodgers
an opportunity against the team with the best record in baseball.
They would have been even up with a victory. He
does that four to two thanks to Max Munsey in
the top of the night, and for the second consecutive
Rokie start, Edwin Diaz blows it.

Speaker 9 (31:16):
Hey grounded through the right side. Churio will score. The
throw do's to third. It's late and Milwaukee has grabbed
the lead.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
That was Vessia that gave up the hit. On the
runners inherited Fracy Edwin Diaz who gets charged with the
blown Well, no, I think yeah, he does in fact
take the loss as he should his era, since his
return from his stint on the il with Loose Bodies
is over thirteen thirteen. That is not something that you

(31:53):
figure out with the team that happens to have them.
And that's the thing, Like, that's the one issue with
saying that and having that approach with the media. What
do you want me to do? You've got three more
games against the Milwaukee Brewer.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Are you gonna say you're snarky? Not that again?

Speaker 5 (32:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (32:10):
Not that?

Speaker 5 (32:11):
Yeah, there it is at least for the next three games.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
What if they run them out there again tonight or
tomorrow and instead of the trumpet song, the song plays,
but the trumpet sound sounds like.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
A fart, or what if it's like that janky recorder
My heart will go on, you know, it's just kind
of like off note and very windy and wispy as
opposed to the strength of a brass instrument pounding those
glorious sounds out of its end. Maybe that's what you do.

(32:43):
You get a fourth grader that's taking recorder class I
don't know if elementary schools still do the recorder thing
like they did when we were kids, but maybe they do.
I can't imagine you rolling Edwin dz out when you
are now two games back of the Brewers. You would
have been even up with them and an opportunity to
take over the best record in baseball with a victory yesterday,

(33:06):
and he blew it and moving forward you exactly.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
That's very snarky and accusatory to his story of the day.

Speaker 5 (33:16):
It is very I don't like doing it.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
Oh, I could tell it pains you. Yeah, this is
an extremely serious, very biting, sarcastic tone, and it saddens
me to have to use it.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
I'm not angry. I'm not angry.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Yeah, I can tell you're disappointed.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
I'm disappointed. Okay.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
It's a pretty great front office, man, I mean they're
going to be all Hall of famers.

Speaker 5 (33:42):
Yes, and you cannot deny. I mean, getting Tarret skoobl
at the deadline without giving up three of your top
four prospects only giving up one certainly impressive, and that
one happened to be acquired in a trade for a
first basement that was blocked by Freddie Freeman for the
next four years. That's how he ended up Landy and
the other one was brought in in exchange for Matt

(34:04):
Batty and his glasses, So you know, it was certainly
a coup for Scoob. At the deadline, they signed Blake
Snell as a free agent. They obviously were the team
that won the pitch to Sho hal Tani identified Freddie
Freeman at a hell of a number. They have done
incredible things, but closer has been the blind spot, a

(34:28):
real blind spot. Don't know why. I have my ideas
and I think it's they're paying for previous production instead
of future potential. And that's a very dangerous thing to
do at that particular position because it can go in
a heartbeat. And when you're handing a combined one hundred

(34:48):
and forty one million bucks to two guys who will
still be on the team together for the next two
years after this, that's a hell of an investment.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Well, Matt, I mean, you know, you've schooled Andrew Friedman
to his face in the past. It's true, you know,
and he did say, like, you know, hey, let's talk,
let's have lunch at the Daily Grill, and you stood
him up from what I remember. That's how I remember.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
Traffic was terrible that day. It's hard to get to
the west.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
That's what happened. Uh, we'll be back. We have more
Petterson money on m five seventy. It's a frog Man Friday.
Thanks for listening, everybody.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Southern California's most listened to sports talk show.

Speaker 5 (35:35):
This money on demand. Dodgers Brewers Game two a four tonight,
first pitch just after seven pm. Dodgers on deck at six. Dave,
I say, will join us at bottom of the five
o'clock hour.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
That's right, Dave will be on. We'll also have a
little college football action. Everybody enjoys college football action. Tomorrow
there is an event at Matt's stomping Grounds of gallping Ford.
Matt is not going to be there, but Tim Kats

(36:09):
is going to do a.

Speaker 5 (36:11):
Special doctor talk at ten am tomorrow. Gallpin Ford celebrate
eighty years here in Southern California. So again, Sean Green,
Austin Bar is going to be out there. It starts
at nine am. Food games. They're giving away tickets as well,
and Kate's going to do a live Dodger talk at
ten am. Again. That is tomorrow at gallpin Ford right
off the four or five at Roscoe. All right, well
you have some text texts up fine, brought to you

(36:34):
by your so called Toyota dealers. We make it easy.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
There is some reaction to Matt's very very definitive top story.
You know, you make the big bucks and sports talk
radio when you have the hot takes.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
That's right, gotta have them hot real.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Just mess around and on the text also line, there
is a series of textosos. It says Diaz's fastball was
as flat as Matt's body ass. This one says one closers,
No wonder my mea cheese are so overpriced? Well, it

(37:11):
depends on which.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
You get a discount.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Now, well it depends on which brad is is is
making your me cheese. And Matt, despite popular opinion of
bribery at Dodger Stadium, showing your chee cheese gets you
zero discount on the mea cheese and in the parking lot,
especially lot ge as I know, I try to show
my chee chees there all the time and I get nothing.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (37:35):
Can we get Kate's to cover that Brewers song and
put his special Burdbank swing with those catchy vocals.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
Well done.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Look see what's bruin.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Done?

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Times?

Speaker 4 (37:50):
Uhs Bruis.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
You a superstar?

Speaker 4 (37:57):
Lead in the chair? An good?

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Another team? Come catch the beating everywhere excitement stumbing your
mate clumb in your heads. Yeah, y'all the teams and

(38:30):
Linda stands. Come see what's.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
This one is attacking? Matt. I don't even think I
can read the whole thing. Boy, I think it's gonna
upset you too much. Hey, Pee, I don't like the
tone in your partner's voice. Tell him to keep the
front office's name out of his mouth. I hope he
has the same energy and criticism when the bolts and
then he goes. He says things about the bolt season,

(39:01):
Matt that I know that are not just at this
time of year. You just don't want to hear.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
Again. You can be very complemented like everything the Dodgers
do except for this.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
It's been a blind spot. Can get your car wrecked though.
That Wisconsin native here living in Aliso Viejo, and come
see what's brewing. Yeah, my brew crew is gonna spank
that Dodge around and I y'all can keep your scoops. Wow,
be a believer in Brewce Beaver killing us down at

(39:36):
Elisa Vie. It's a good song.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Come catch the bever the beaver.

Speaker 7 (39:51):
Everybody stumping your feet in your hands.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
From the part of the teams and Linda's dance.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
You see Brewers fans are all, you know talking now.
But I don't remember this being like the cub song
when they win. Everybody just hating this. Nobody knows this song.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
Song, no, but it is a great song. A song
to you. I bet you Kate's you know, in a
different world when you weren't a married man, if you
put that on a record player and came out in
your Oscar de la Hoya standing with Holly Saunders, uh
banana hammock and you put that on the record player. Well,
front row Amy's sitting there on a love seat with

(40:38):
their missiles pointed at you, and you start dancing like
a slow white man dance. Come see what's brewing the
fever every walk and just see front row Andy's chest
start heaving with him. Just amazing, you know what I'm saying,
Front Row Amy getting all excited, HoTT.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Hands, the teams in littles dam see.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
Playing out playing all right, all right, all right, all right,
this says another attack on Matt.

Speaker 5 (41:17):
No son of a bitua.

Speaker 4 (41:18):
Matt. If this, if this, my mom used to say,
if a bird had a radio tied to its ass,
there'd be music in the air that hey Pete tell
Matt called mate. Essay, Andrew Friedman is playing forty Chess

(41:42):
while others like you clowns are playing shoots and ladders.
We all know a starter will close out the playoff games,
will burning cash after charging his fifty dollars for a
model ossa.

Speaker 5 (41:55):
Listen, fair enough, shoots allowed us a lot more challenging
than you think.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
Okay, well we should know, Matt. That's what we play
in forty jess all right, we'll be back. Thank you
everybody for being part of great sports talk on this
Frog Band Friday. Thank you for seeing what's bruin, for
being a part of what's going on. Word number song

(42:22):
coming up next, and then some college football
