Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. You're home of the
back to back World Series champion Dodgers. We have the
Gallpin Ford Broadcast Booth delivering Dodger Baseball Tonight at seven
to ten PM. Roki Sasaki on the mound for the
Dodgers as they host the Angels for a freeway series
at Dodger Stadium down in Anaheim. They defeated the Angels

(01:03):
in three games by a combined score of thirty one.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, but what about last year.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Well, last year was last year.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, last year was last year. USC has won this
super Regional Game one in North Carolina. Congratulations to Andy
Stankovitz and the Trojans for their big victory. And there'll
be two more maybe or one more in beautiful Chapel Hill.
And there's two other Trojans going doing battle right now,

(01:32):
Little Rock Trojans versus the Troy State Trojans in a
super regional at Troy in Troy, Alabama. And the only
reason I mention it other than all the Trojans is
the guy in the Mound's last name is crotch.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Felt, So what's your ancestry?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Crotch?

Speaker 3 (01:53):
My great great great great grandfather used to walk around
and ask people if they wanted to rub his.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Crotch over the pants are under or between the underwear
and the pants are all the way skin to skin.
What are we talking about? Bronsfelt?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Pretty much what he used to do is to walk
around ton, Hey, you want to rub it?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Did you promote the coop?

Speaker 5 (02:13):
Matt?

Speaker 3 (02:14):
I didn't.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
It's coming up June tenth, Friday, June nineteenth to September's
Taproom and Eatery and Rancho Coo Matt and I will
be there for the very first stop of the very exciting,
the unparalleled, the circus, the live stream, the YouTube. If
you can't be there, we'd love if you live streamed
or youtubed it. The Petros and Money show at September's

(02:39):
Taproom and Eatery and Rancho Coop. We've been there before
and popped off. We got some irons in the fire,
but we also have Dodger tickets and merch to give away,
Tower Buzzer Games tickets to give away. Hopefully we'll get
the mascots out there. Captain Cook oven plus from Barbecues
Galore two hundred and fifty don Barbecues Galore, gift card

(03:02):
Westinghouse fifty five inch from our friend.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Breton stacked the prices.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
So we're looking forward to that and we help everybody
can meet us there in Rancho Kook, but if you can't,
we will stream like a dream, Facebook and YouTube and
our stream kicks ass. It's not just a daily thing

(03:27):
of us sitting there fart not each other. When we
stream we meet him, we bring a director in.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, we can where you be there in person, but
if you can, right, you.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Know, some people just can't you know we have a
guy that beat a Springs. He's not gonna make it.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Out knocked him. Well, he still has time. We're giving
him a two week heads up.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
I suppose you're right. Everybody has time, and that's why
we gave you the two week heads up. Like Matt said,
Dodgers Angels, David Vassi will join us in the final hour.
Is going to have Miles Garrett tomorrow on Dodger Talk
after the game because he's thrown out the first pitch,
so that'll be cool. I'm not sure if that's the
first radio interview he's done since his press conference. He's

(04:06):
doing it.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
After the game, right, like you're gonna stay until the end.
This could be a fifteen to three, you know, three
and a half hour marathon.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Right. Here's my guess. I'm guessing that he's not gonna
do it in time to get in on a three
game show.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah for Dodger on Deck.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
But it's probably not gonna be live. That would just
be my guess. But if he just sits around out
there right the whole time, watching Vass do his thing
and then get ready for the here, pretty cool, wouldn't it?
Wait for Dodger Clubhouse to be over all the sound.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Oh really sorry, mus Rick takes a long time with
this rap.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
He's really long winded.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Today.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
We'll get you out of here in no time. And
he's got Dalton rushing today on the pregame show Marongo
Casino Dodgers on deck. Well, I have the latest from
Dave in the very next segment, Matt. But right now, Oh,
it's time for the word of the day with his words,
the word of the day. Today's word of the day

(05:06):
is stroke a check. Now, a lot of people are
getting money in college football house sustainable?

Speaker 6 (05:13):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Ye? Me me me me, me, me, me, me me me.
But every year everybody hears somebody stroking a check. Where
do we get the terminology stroke a check? While we
get it from our friend and the Valley of the Sun,
mister activate the Valley, mister cactus ass the great Kenny
Dillingham who said this a few months back.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
We need to fund one of these really rich people
in this city to step up and stroke a check
and I'll do everything I can to make you the
most famous person in the city. Right, That's really what
we need. We need one person. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.
You're telling me there's not one person can stroke a
twenty million dollar check right now. There is somebody out
here who can. There's somebody who can. There's somebody and

(05:56):
like other people are going to sacrifice to be here.
Somebody up up, step up and be that dude to say,
holy Cow, what completely changed it?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
This person.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
There's somebody out there that's gonna listen to this, that's
gonna get it forwarded it. If you know somebody who
can do it, forward this message to somebody. Somebody can
step up and completely take this place from the direction
it's going to Holy Cow and it's right here in
the city.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Well, we should just do that with our radio show.
Ask somebody to stroke a check a chess, Matt, so
you and I can do like a radio show on
top of like some giant tower of power like the
Conan and the Barbarian or so anyway.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Or we can convinced Kayas to reunite and.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Play oh maybe anything. Stroke a check. But guess what, Matt.
According to Kenny Dillingham, yesterday, in a super good mood,
somebody did stroke a check and he got what he
asked for. And it's all because he acted like that.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
I stood on the pedestal and said crazy things and
people liked it. People not, Well, we found that amount
of money that I asked for, There're two different people
in the next three months. So you know, if you're
not willing to go out and say what you need right,
the same thing I tell our staff and our players, like,
the only way to get better is for people to know,

(07:12):
like what I got to get better at. If I
just stayed quiet and said everything is roses and candy
canes all the time, there's no such thing as roses.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
And candy canes and college football.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
It's an arms race to continue to compete and get better.
So if we ever say we've made it worth there,
we've got every support we need, I'm actually hurting our
football program. I'm always going to be constantly pushing to
get better and better and better. And I think anybody
who doesn't want me to push to be better and
better and better doesn't want to try to compete at
the highest level because that's what it takes. It takes

(07:43):
constant improvement. So the fact that we challenged people, guys
like Brian stepped up, another organization stepped up, which we'll
get to there late later when the university.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Teams, they stepped up in a big way. But we're
still not even close to where we need to do.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
We're just taking the right steps, you know. I like
to say when I got here, we were in a
marathon when it was like we started four years after
everybody else or four hours ever after everybody else started
this marathon.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
So even though we're catching up and our.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
We're getting better and we're improving in a lot of areas,
right we're so far behind and they're still running. They
just didn't stop and say let let Arizona stay catch up.
They're still trying to run the white race. So we're
trying to catch up and win the race at the
same time. So we're catching up, but we're star not
even in the same ballpark of winning this race right now.
And that's why we got to continue to push and

(08:32):
continue to get the Phoenix area involved, through the collective,
through the university in any way shape well they can
to help us compete.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Stroke a jack, somebody stroke two checks.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
We need to find one of these really rich people
in this city to step up and stroke a check.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
And you know what, if you don't go up there
and ask You're never gonna get it, Matt the squeaky wheel,
you know.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Like you look at the way Fred acts. Gotta get better.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah. Uh And and in stroke of chech news, Virginia
Tech took in a record anonymous donation. So this person
will not be the most famous person in the history
of Blacksburg, but Virginia Tech took in a seventy five
million dollar donation, freaked out, record breaking for the Hokies.

(09:20):
Not all of it is going to sports and football,
but the majority of it is, so congratulations million Hoky hoax. Yeah,
and that, you know, and that's all you're willing to give?
What about next year? Where's the where's the other seventy Yeah?
We need more.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
You hear that poop coming out of Nick Saban's mouth
there on Capitol Hill. I need eighty million bucks. It's
Virginia Tech.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Sorry, sorry that you're dying like the agricultural South during
the Civil War and the North industrial complex is beating
your ass out.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Do you see the college sports only post of pre
nil Well, it was all Alabama commits standing in front
of Dodge challengers.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
It's like, yeah, this checks out.

Speaker 7 (10:07):
I mean, look, yes, Kates, no, coach Dillingham is talking
about a race and a marathon and they're never gonna
catch up. How does he expect to catch up if
the other team doesn't stop or get tripped or get
a cramp?

Speaker 2 (10:18):
How does he expect to catch up? Short little legs? Yeah,
I mean, you're absolutely.

Speaker 7 (10:22):
Right, they're never gonna catch up.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
They might mean they made it to the college football
playoffs when somebody stroke to check.

Speaker 7 (10:32):
So yeah, but they're four hours ahead of you in
a race and they're still racing.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I don't you know, I don't think. I don't think
he's really gonna hold anybody to what he just said.

Speaker 8 (10:41):
There.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
He's just talking out of his ass.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
He's gotta full time in, gotta make the news, gotta
get on Channel six.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
I stood on the pedestal and said crazy things, and
people liked it.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
People not.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Well, we found that amount of money that I asked for. Man,
you know, it's interesting because like when I was a
football player, no one was getting like a salary right
like they are now in the nil Like people would
get like a booster or a donor pay for your
apartment or buy you a Dodge Challenger or something like that.

(11:17):
You know, the whole basketball team was driving escalades. But
but no one actually got a salad. And maybe you
know if your mom was behind on the rent or
the one lump sum of ten thouars set, stuff like that. Yeah,
but no one was getting a salary except the people
in the South. And if you think about it, it's
really interesting you think about it, like they've been doing

(11:37):
this forever. They've been paying players forever. No one ever
said anything, no one ever took them to task. In
the meantime, we crucified Jim Tressel because a guy got
a three hundred dollars tattoo to help ror. And now
to get south, Yeah, now the South is all pissed off.

Speaker 8 (11:52):
Save it.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Way to go Dillingham getting somebody to stroke a check.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
That's right, all right, it's.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Time for the number. Here's my number, the number of
the day. Two numbers really upset man.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Yeah, twelve and nine you already mentioned it, pee, but
twelve the well, the Mustang Scott guilded it was. It
was a rather unfortunate start, the West Coast team being
forced to play a nine am first pitch.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Oh that's what it was. And I don't mention I
didn't mention that because I knew you would be upset
about it.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
So very upset. Opportunity to have two California teams make
their way to Omaha twelve to two. West Virginia got them.
They got to win two in a row after sweeping
the regional three and zero, having beat Saint Mary's twice.
Maybe they can figure something out and not looking great,
but you mentioned it pe. Congratulations to the Trojan Since
they lost that first game the Texas State five to four,

(12:44):
they went on to outscore their opponents in the regional.
They had to win four straight in order to make
it to the super Regional. They did to the tune
of fifty five to fourteen. Absolutely saw their offense come
alive in those four games, averaging over eleven run per game,
and they then had a Grand Slam and five runs

(13:05):
in the top of the sixth inning to make it
a six to five lead. They would go on to
win nine to five. Congratulations to them, May they make
it to Omaha. Very cool. Little nugget about the NC
DOUBLEA Superregionals, there will not be a single team in
Omaha that was there last year. We are not only

(13:27):
guaranteed to have a repeat or to have a new
winner for the NCUBAA Baseball tournament. Not a single team
will be in Omaha that was there last year. That
is how wild this tournament has been this year, like
you mentioned with Troy and Arkansas State and cal Poly

(13:47):
in West Virginia and USC and all of these new participants.
Pretty cool run for the nc double A considering the
transfer and the NILS and what basketball has become and
what the College foot All Playoff has become. As we
just detailed with all the monies and the portals, that
baseball can still seem pretty cool and get these sort

(14:08):
of upsets all over the place and make it incredibly exciting.
Also want to point out the number nine, your connection
to Tip of the Cap. I went there yesterday. I
forgot to mention. I want to mention it today. You
connected with Steve from Rick and Morty. He gave the producer. Yeh,
producer gave you a skateboard. I gave it to my daughter.

(14:29):
She posted it. He reached out to me and I
explained it is legitimately Preston's favorite show. She is beyond
a super fan. So invited her over to the studio
yesterday to take a tour to see the writers, the
writer rooms, the storyboards. It really was a special day
for her. She freaked out, and it was pretty special

(14:50):
for me as well. So a huge thank you to
you for making that connection and to Steve for offering
up the invited his season nine. It's out now Adult
Swim eleven PM ATPISOD. So three of season nine is
going to be this Sunday.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
I texted Steve this morning. He reached out to me
regarding the one piece night that Tim Kates is obsessed with,
and uh and perhaps procuring the one piece paraphernalia and
somebody that he met at that that that knows about that,
oh so and uh and yeah, and Steve is also

(15:27):
raised some concerns about the insolence of the card Father
at Burbank Sports Cards. He feels as if we'd been slighted.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
For sure, He's right, we have Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
I don't know if he mentioned that to you guys yesterday,
but he's on he's on our team when it comes
to that teen petros. Now, of course, if I see
a post and he's standing there with the card father
and the card mother and car daughter, you know, and uh,
and you know what we did talk about that. I
don't want to put it on Steve, but we did
talk about, like, you know, the card father's really out

(15:58):
there forward, really, you know, making a rooster of himself
and social media.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
In the car, I feel like he's really shaken in
our face.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Yeah, but you know what think of how the car
daughter feels. You know, she can't be happy with this
kind of grandstanding.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
I just want to sell cards dead. I just want
to make people happy. I just want fathers and sons
and daughters and mothers to feel connected through the power
of trading cards.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
We're all connected to the power of music.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
This is the song of the day.

Speaker 9 (16:29):
Ah Yes is La Bradade Stereo MCS are in English
electronic ensemble supplying today's song of the day called Step
It Up, A timely tune to load into the digital
turntables on a frog Man Friday, where the Petros and
Money Show is stepping it up with three hours of
great sports talk. Is we get ready for Dodger Baseball

(16:50):
back home and Uniclow Field at Dodger Stadium with the
Anaheim Angels who've traveled north to the city of Los
Angeles for three games over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
That'll begin with.

Speaker 9 (17:00):
Our good friend Tim Kate, who's standing right across from me,
getting ready to work up that good lather for you
with your Moronco Casino. Dodgers on Deck program that begins
promptly at six o'clock.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
See Top Story of the day coming up and next come.

Speaker 10 (17:16):

hell of a show. We've been promoting it all day
and we'll make it cool. Dodgers Angels coming up. Dalton
Rushing is on the pregame show with Dave. We'll talk

(18:00):
today in the next segment. He's also got Miles Garrett
on Saturday, so that's that's exciting. But right now at
his time for the Top Story of the naxt Top
Story of the.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Couple NaNs Here this time the NBA News and Notes
with Finals Game two tonight at five thirty pm, but
not the National will keep it local. P Number one,
a very close friend of ours who would normally reach
out to the Petros and Money Show before his annual
trip to France with that great New Orleans twang that
he has bt Brad Turner of The LA Times tweeted

(18:34):
out today that Austin Reeves is not looking to be
handing out any discounts to the Lakers that he wants.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
He doesn't. He's not going to give him a discount.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
He wants a max deal, whether that's a max deal
from another team four years, one seventy eight or if
the Lakers want to hand him a max deal that
would be five years, two hundred and forty one million bucks. Now,
Austin is a already on record as saying from his
mouth that he is not looking for some gigantic deal

(19:08):
that he wants to stay in LA that he wants
to do a deal that'll help the Lakers. So that's
one thing. And then you have your agents that are like, well,
not sure if you're aware of this, Austin, but it's
a lot of money, don't get us wrong. Twelve and
a half million bucks a year is nothing to sneeze out.
For the last three years but when you're averaging sixteen,
twenty and twenty three points in each of those three years,

(19:30):
to go with five rebounds and six assists per game
in each of those seasons, you have been severely underpaid.
Your twelve million should probably be more in the thirty
to thirty five million dollar range, the likes of what
Darius Garland and Michael Porter and Mike mccyle bridges are making.
So we're going to try to make up for lost time.
His agent doesn't care if Austin takes less than the max.

(19:53):
It looks bad for the agents. That's the way it
works for NBA players. Very very rarely do we ever
see for people that want to shoot, that want to
take on Austin Reeves for asking for the max or
demanding the max online saying not cool. Let's not forget
Lebron James, who has made damn near a billion dollars

(20:13):
in salary and his career has never given the Lakers
a discount, or the Miami Heat or the Calves for
that matter. I think he gave the Calves a one
million dollar discount per season one year, and I think
he gave the Lakers a one million dollar discount on
his two year, one hundred and one million dollar deal
that he just wrapped up. So taking it out on

(20:35):
Austin not cool guy. Certainly, if he can get it
from another team that wants to sign him away from
the Lakers for four and one seventy eight, then by
all means they should have to play by those same rules.
I will acknowledge though tying it back to the NBA Finals,
much like Tom Brady really is kind of the only
nfler that really took the discount route. Jalen Brunson is

(20:58):
the one guy of all the dudes that didn't just
take a tiny haircut, you know, a little can you
just get rid of the split ends kind of thing. No,
he ended up taking one hundred and thirteen million dollars
less from the Knicks when Leon Rose said if they
could keep it at this number, he thought he could
make some trades to add to the team, and he delivered,

(21:20):
going out to get og Nanobi, going out to get
Karl Anthony Towns, and then bringing in Michale Bridges, of course,
his teammate at Villanova one hundred and thirteen. He took
four one point fifty six with a player option and
left one hundred and thirteen on the table. So that
is the only instance that you can play make that

(21:41):
up easy. Oh yeah, when you're small and you get
bunked around a lot, really taking on the risks. So
hopefully it works out for him. He delivers a title
to New York and he'll make all the money back
tenfold if he does make If Austin Reeves does make
the ten million dollars per year, if he makes the
fifty million dollars per year, pardon me, he will be

(22:02):
in line with guys like Anthony Edwards in Tyrese Haliburton,
as people would point out, like you really think Austin
Reeves is Tyrese Halliburton or Anthony Edwards. Maybe not, but
you know else is making fifty million bucks a year
Lori Marketing and Chet Holmgren. So that thing works both ways.
If he decides to take the discount and into that

(22:24):
forty million dollar range, she'll be in step with the
ogn and ob Desmond Bane Jalen Brunson. So good luck
with that quickly, pee. Our conversation with Don McLean yesterday
got the gears turning in the head here and was able,
by some small miracle to access my memories files and
harken back to twenty fourteen. We were talking with Don

(22:44):
about role players and how important guys like Caruso on
Oklahoma City, how important guys like Josh Hart for the
New York knicksar turns out both of them were Lakers
when Lebron was traded to the Lakers or signed with
the Lakers, I should say, in twenty eighteen, and he
immediately booted both of them out of here. I remember,

(23:05):
so twenty fourteen, I bring it up. That was the
year that Lebron James was flirting with the idea of
leaving Miami after having gone to four consecutive NBA Finals,
winning two titles, winning two regular season and two finals
MVPs having complained about the lack of winning culture in Cleveland.
Certainly they had it in Miami with pat Riley, with
Eric Spolstro, with Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and all the

(23:27):
success they had there, and he decided to tweet out
when they were flirting with bringing him back, not bringing
him back, he had already gutted the roster of all
excuse me, they're young players, and had stacked the roster
with thirty four year old Rashard Lewis, thirty five year

(23:48):
old Shane Batti a thirty three year old James Jones.
It was all old dudes because he wanted to win
the damn title. But then he decides to tweet June
twenty six, exact, about ten days or so before free
agency hit, the day of the NBA Draft via Twitter,

(24:08):
No way you take another PG in the lottery before
Napier Chabaz Napier, who had just led the Huskies to
the NCAA Tournament title, their star player six foot one
hundred and seventy five pounds soak and wet had a
good tournament, did not look like an NBA player because

(24:29):
of the size. There a career forty percent shooter. But
Miami decides to take the bait, throw him a bone.
They draft Napier, and of course, ten days later, he
announces he's returning to Cleveland immediately gets the number one pick.
Because he was so petty and upset about the idea
that Andrew Wiggins was being called the Lebron James of

(24:52):
Canada had him traded immediately as part of the agreement
to go there. Point being, for those that don't think
Lebron has anything to do with personnel absolutely does, and
a twenty two year old and twenty three year old
Caruso and Josh Hart never stood a chance to stay
on the Lakers, to be those great role players that
they so desperately needed, and now they find their success elsewhere.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
We'll see what happens, Matt. You know, I mean, just
Austin Reeves deserve fifty million dollars a year. Man broke
a check, stroke a check. Somebody just gave Virginia Tech
seventy five million, So I guess it's not real money.
I don't know, but good luck to Austin Reeves. Very
interesting thing to think about, as I did not see

(25:38):
BT's tweet, but those I don't know how much the
wheels turn without Lebron's decision, right, Matt, Like that's all
I can think about.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Well, no doubt. We'll probably do an emergency show when
that happens.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Yeah, what do they call that emergency press conference? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
All right, we'll return, we'll do the lessons learning Great
sportsp We had a lot of content this week, three
and a half hour shows every day, and today we're
only on for three hours. Maroango Casino, Dodgers on Deck,
Dodgers Angels. I don't know if those shirtless guys are
gonna be in the crowd tonight.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
This is Petro Some Money on Demand.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Petro Some Money hand five seventy LA Sports Live Everywhere
on the iHeartRadio app Big News. When we launched the
show at three pm, we shared our first stop of
the thirteenth annual PMS Summer Tour is going to be
two weeks from today, Rancho Cucamonga. Going back to September's
tap room, we talked about prizes, Dodger tickets, Dodgers merch,
Captain cook overplus from Barbecues Galore, a two hundred and

(26:45):
fifty dollars Barbecue Glore, gift card, a Westinghouse fifty five
inch TV, and much much more. So set your schedules
three to six pm, September's tap Room, Rancho Cucamonga. We
would love to see you there, Yes, we surely would.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
When the I E and the Pedrosen Money Show meet,
it is an explosion of love and we'll be right
down the street from Chaffey all chafed up, how about that?
I love to chafe it up? All right? It is
time because it is Friday, UH, and it's been a
wonderful week, a lot of great sports talk for you
to podcast and enjoy on the iHeartRadio app. Very timely stuff.

(27:24):
But right now it's time to look back on the
lessons learned in great sports talk.

Speaker 8 (27:28):
A Jim Kate.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Twitter malt jail picture.

Speaker 10 (27:31):
I guess he delivered a really signs with no concerns
since learned.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
Yes, the lessons learned in great sports talk is what
a week it was. And of course down in UH
they call it Palermo West Seal Beach.

Speaker 8 (27:49):
We have.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Doge Malvolio, Signor Smith, and then we have Senor Kates
from the substitute teacher at Burroughs High UH for your
Spanish two mc R class. Everybody, minimum college requirement pot
a university Dodo, let's see less than one, everybody. We

(28:25):
had Joe Alt, a fine right tackle. You know, the
Rams signed a big pass rusher and we tried to
block him with two right tackles. Couldn't get anybody on
the left, but we got Joe Halt on the end
of the u.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
S right bud. Come on, we got you covered.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
We're gonna We're gonna slide left Joealt is here. He
is at the end of the U.

Speaker 8 (28:48):
S C.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Notre Dame rivalry.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
That's that's crazy because it's you know, growing up and
you know, always hearing about it, then going to Notre
Dame and it's always been a rivalry. It's uh, it's sad,
but uh, you know, there's always decision that has to
be made and uh, I love the rivalry. I love
playing the game. So it'll be one to be missed
for sure.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
What's our identity if we can't play Notre Dame, Joe, Yeah,
And I'm talking from a USC perspective. I mean, you're
all other than what taking the field at South Bend
and taking the field at the Coliseum. I mean that's
why you play at SC and Notre Dame. Am I stupid?
Am I wrong? I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
That was always you know, for us as a as
a group at Notre Dame, it was always a game.
Obviously that was circle then was when we prepped for
and we you know, there was a little bit of
hatred in that rivalry for each other, and I think
it brought out the best in both teams. And you
always knew it. I always thought in that game the
rankings didn't matter. It could be your both ranked. One
wasn't one was and it always which is a you know,
a just a really good football game, a lot of aggression,

(29:45):
a lot of competitiveness, and it just it brought up
the best of both teams.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
And I'll tell you what that is a two jet protection.
We're going to slide to the left, three jet we're
going to slide to the right, and God help us
if the Sam Becker or the Mic com Bey because
that's on the back and there's only.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Wifes were so good at the electric Slide.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
There's only one guy back there. Man, speaking of more protection,
lesson to lexion.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
Does that's any do?

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Rob Havenstein came on, and you know, we talked about
Aaron Donald wanted to come out of retirement getting all
swollen because he's excited about Miles Garrett speeding around. Uh
And now Rob Havenstein, we asked him, do you want
to unretire? Do you want to apologize to him and
come back and play for the Rams since they're favorites

(30:34):
to win the Super air Bowl?

Speaker 8 (30:35):
No?

Speaker 6 (30:36):
Not absolutely not, Nope, not coming back half where I am.
It's funny. I got a couple of guys texting me
and a couple of couple of staffers gave me a
face time tell me to put the weight back on.
It's like, man, I worked so hard to get the
thing off, so I'm gonna I think I'm gonna keep
it that way. But if they did offer me a seat, man,
I'd have a long hard talk with the wife and
like I'm gonna be going for a while.

Speaker 8 (30:56):
I gotta go see this.

Speaker 6 (30:58):
You know, just to tos duking it out week one
in Melbourne for the first time. I mean, that's if
that's not my CTV, I don't know what it is.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
That's the best part TV. You don't even have to
go to us, Rob.

Speaker 8 (31:12):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
I got a great comfy chair.

Speaker 7 (31:16):
Lesson three Lesion Tres today.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
Hey hey, hey, hey, how long can you listen to
Sean McVeigh.

Speaker 10 (31:28):
We believe that he can impact the team in a
significant way by being himself, you know, and then there's
a lot of other guys. It's the greatest team sport
that there is. I'm really excited about our team coming
together because that's what every single year is about, and
that happens one day at a time. We'll finish up
this offseason program where it's this week, the following week,
and then we'll come back in training camp and we

(31:49):
got to be ready to rock. And then the goal
will be to be able to peak when we start
in Australia and then you know, hopefully you stay fortunate
to stay healthy and continue to build and adjust and
adapt as we go.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
But it's so long journey.

Speaker 10 (32:00):
We got to be able to handle it. But most
importantly is you know the caliber people, how do we
come together? How do we establish what this team really
looks like. We are fortunate to have a lot of continuity,
and there's excitement being able to add a player like that,
But it's one day at a time. And I love
everything that he said because I couldn't be more in agreement.
And we're not gonna let the outside in narratives affect
our ability to be courageous every single day and go

(32:21):
swing and see what the hell happens.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Yeah, the Hell's gonna happen. And don't forget Miles Garrett
is going to be on with David Vasse on Dodger
Talk after the game tomorrow. As he is throwing out
the first pitch, I mean, wow, what a time to
be Alive.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
On I heard Dave acknowledge his Halloween prowess and he
was like, I'm gonna go talk to that guy.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Yeah, that's who I want to talk to. He knows,
he knows what.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
I spent hours in makeup on Halloween.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
He knows what I'm like less than four Lexion Quatro.
That's James Worthy, our dear friend, dear dear friend, best
friends on vic wenban Yama having that mamba mentality, that
mamba mental just like the tattoo that Johnny from promotions

(33:14):
as it says, mamba mentality.

Speaker 8 (33:16):
Just think if Kobe was still alive. Wemby is picking
everybody's brain, right, but just imagine if if Kobe was
still alive. I don't know, he watched Kobe going up
and uh and to be able to pick Kobe's brain,
and I think, Uh, he does possess that mentality. He

(33:37):
will not back down. Uh you're not gonna, you know,
try to punk him. Uh, you're not gonna talk trash
to him. He's gonna silently. You know. I always go
to the classic classic the Titans when they released the Cracking.
He's the cracking there. He's he's a monster man. So

(33:58):
you can't piss him off, you can't distract him. He's
extremely disciplined and he does have that and he has
that assassination mentality. He wants to kill and that's just
it's just beautiful.

Speaker 7 (34:13):
Watch lesson five Lexion single lets on itching.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Our bff Don McClain was asked by Matt about Jalen
Brunson of the Knicks and how Don had him at
his draft prep camp when his face was even more
like a fetus many years ago.

Speaker 11 (34:34):
He was in our pre draft however, many years ago.
That was seven or eight, nine years and I never,
I never for once thought that he would get to
this level of player. Just so I thought he was limited,
you know, all the things that everyone says about him.
I thought that when I watched him. But what was
interesting is we went through the process that year. We
do a lot of live stuff, a lot of three

(34:55):
on three to two on two. His team always won
in that and that started changing my thinking that you
know what, this kid might actually be a really good
NBA player because he just figures out how to get
it done, and he has He's not fast, he's not explosive,
he's not big, but he understands change of speed, change
of direction, how to get the spots, understands angles and

(35:18):
has mastered that, mastered how to get to a spot
and get a shot off. At his size and his
belief he even back then during you could tell that
he believes in himself. He believes that he's going to
get it done. His work ethic is off the charts.
And so this is what he's become. And I'm happy
for him because he's had a lot of doubters along

(35:39):
the way and he just continued to prove him wrong.
And we'll see if he gets gets this thing done
and and you know, wins a championship for the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
See, it's not just barts and and Hot Dog Day
around here and Chicken fin there's.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Some days though. Yeah, well, I mean is a great day.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
I mean that was real sports in it up.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
That was that was gooding, real sports.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
And all right, we'll be back and we'll do the
final hour fun Fact and the quick hits, and we'll
talk to Dave and then we'll get to the Dead
and Alive and then the weekend begins and we won't
have Roving and Rodney to make fun of, but we
won't be here either,
