The answer is money. There is nothing you can do.
You know it's coming. This is the Petros and Money Show.

Donutes spend your some money five seven LA Sports Live
Everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Gallping Ford Broadcast Booth has
got Dodgers Braves tonight seven o'clock. First pitch, Dodgers on
deck coming up in about an hour and the big
breaking news we'll get to in a moment tonight and
Matchean on the mound for the Dodgers. And even more
importantly than the big breaking Dodger news is our appearance

(01:26):
at the BJ's restaurant in brew House in Downey, at
the Stonewood Center at the corner of Firestone in Lakewood,
our first public appearance as we engage with the listeners
for three and a half hours, going into Dodgers Angels
Baseball at two to five thirty show.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Our first appearance of the spring. I think it is
safe to say, and you're right, Matt. Pitchers come and go,
players rise and fall, as do kingdoms. But the Petrison
Money Show only makes it out to the BJS and
Downey maybe once or twice a year, maybe once or

(02:01):
twice every two years, five years annually. The point is
we're gonna be there and we would love to see you.
There's all kinds of stuff to give away, not to
mention tickets to see the biggest ever made night ever
ever at the end to a dome, which is a
great venue, a fight card that includes the lovely Ronda

(02:22):
Rousey and Gina Carano and Nate Diaz and Francis Nghanu
and more.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
But you can't win by calling in How do you
win it, Matt. You gotta be there. You got to
be there in person. You got to get that ticket,
and you got to hope that that correct number is
pulled from that bucket. And that is how you will win.
And we'll also keep hoping and dreaming. That's right. We
will also engage. We will collectively have a great time
as a Community's.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Rtt Matt, That's what we do. And right now it's
time for the final hour fun fat In fact, it's
the Yeah three by Concordia University Irvines Masters in Coaching
program applied for the summer term. Classes start on May eighteenth.
I wouldn't wait, geez, every new wait thousand dollars off

(03:13):
and you can do the whole program online in fifteen
months going to suy dot edu slash coaching.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Final Hour fun fact Pee, Happy Birthday to Coca Cola,
created one hundred and forty years ago today, certainly a
fun fact, and I would assume everybody knows it was
originally a medical tonic small amounts of cocaine in it
for the first seventeen years of its existence after it
was created by doctor John Pemberton. However, did you know

(03:39):
Coca cola is so popular and ubiquitous. Over ten thousand
Coca cola products are consumed every second. There is almost
there is almost nowhere on earth where it is not
able to be purchased. Only two countries, that is it

(04:01):
on this beautiful blue marble of art. And what are
those two countries, Matt freaking commis China Cuba?

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Oh the Cubs.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Nineteen sixties trade embargo.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
They have cast they have castro cola there.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Yes, and sanctions stemming from the Korean War in the
nineteen fifties. North Korea it North now russiay.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Just drink dishwater. That's their soft drink.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah, dishwater with rocks instead of ice cubes. Russia, I
guess tried to say when things were getting real sideways
in twenty twenty two, like yeah, we're out on the
coca cola. But the Ruskies are like, like, hell, we're out.
This parastriker cola is nowhere.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Mirror is good.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
So it's just those two, all right.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
It's CYB for quick hits. Everybody from PMS quick hits.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I'm making quick y'all.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah, I'm canceling my double vacation in North Korea in Cuba.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Uh, the Dodge have my Coca Cola.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Dodgers are at home tonight versus the Braves, am It
Sheehan and Chris Sale. The pitching matchup. Matt is very
concerned about the pitching matchups throughout the weekend.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
That digs so deep.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Dodgers our first place atop the NL West despite our
panic and twiddling of our thumbs. The Braves first place
in the NL East, of course, and they're tied with
the Cups with the best record of the National League.
And they have done their sacrifices to the hill Gods,

(05:34):
and they are coming down to Chavez Ravine. They got
one thing on their mind. I'm going to trade for
a rifle, right and I'm gonna destroy these these round eyes.
Blake Snell's minor league rehabs start in Ontario is off.
There will be no towers bus Snell is now going

(05:54):
to get activated and make the start for the Dodgers
versus the Brave tomorrow on Blake snell bobblehead.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
How about that? By the way, hey, dog can't have
a bubble head without having you know, they.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Couldn't have you know, the Rokie Sasaki Bibblehead night was
so such an anti climax that I think that they
had to do this to make a bigger splash. They
don't know. They don't want to lose their bobblehead momentum.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Can't nobody be giving out no break Snail bibble Head
without snailing them own dog snaill Zilla's in.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
He does have a weekend show on ninety two point
three as well. Still Zilla's Mookie Bats is at okay
See on a rehab assignment. He's expecting to play two
days there. If everything goes well, he will rejoin the
Dodgers for the four game Giant series that is coming
up next week. We'll be out there on Monday for
that excitement. Sadly, Matt, the Lakers not only did they

(06:46):
not cover again.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
And you felt like I got a shot the cover here, man,
you felt like they're not really down seven with like
five minutes to go, I got a shot to cover.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Speaking of a Native American traditions, they did have a
bit of a pow wow with the officials after after.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
The game, some teppers a little bit of a.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Pow wow there, not even a smoking of the peace pipe,
but a pow wow. So We'll see how the next
game is called. But here is a JJ Reddick complaining.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
The stretch where four straight possessions our guys got absolutely
cloppered trying to make an entry pass to Jackson and
Jalen Williams is grabbing his jersey with both arms. That's
a turn, like we just they're they're hard enough to play,
they're hard enough to play. You've got to be able
to just call it if they foul and they do
fail along those lines.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
I mean, Lebron has I think taken five free throws
here in two games. What have I mean? Have you
seen him be like attacking in downhill and are you
surprised he hasn't been able to get to the line more?

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Well, it gets cloppered on that that one, you know,
with Jaylen Williams coming over trying to block the shot
when he spun basedline door that was in that stretch
as well. Lebron has the worst whistle of any star
player I've ever seen, I mean with in two years.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Now.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
You know, there's again the smaller guys because they can
be theatric they typically draw more fouls and the bigger
players that are you know, built like Lebrony.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
It's hard for them.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
But he gets clobbered, and he got clobbered again to
night a bunch and that's not like a new thing
that's not specific to this crew or you know this
this series, he gets foult a lot that doesn't happen
to me. Gets hit on the head more than an
eight player I've seen on drives and it rarely gets called.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
So do you think composer was a factor at all
or do you think the kind of the blatant things
you're talking about, there's no other way to react than
to point.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Out, oh no, no, but our guys were so good
and I just stay together, poised that that's the emotion's
part of basketball. And I think some of the reason they're,
you know, officiated the way they are is because they
don't show emotion. And that's a credit to them. I mean,
they really taken the emotion out of the game. They're
super tight knit. They don't complain to the officials and they,

(08:58):
you know, maybe they're the beneficiars that I don't know.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
I must be watching a different team team I saw
I had a pow wow on the center court with
the officials after the game.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, I did. There were a couple bad Obviously, the
and to one continuation was terrible. That was that was
a terrible call. That could have led to a three
point play. Instead it's an empty possession and.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
The right they might that they might have covered that.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
That's what I'm saying. Man. You know you're talking about
three points goes from eighteen to fifteen, and now you're
covering the fifteen and a half, and now I'm covered,
all right, mister ball official guy that's screaming at Austin Race.
Why you're yelling at the play. You're an official. Don't
be doing that. It's a bad look for you, official guy.
That's why we had to have a meeting, right, don't
do that.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
The NBA Draft is next month and one of the
top players is Kansas guard Darren Peterson. He had a
good freshman year, but he missed eleven games and there
was all kinds of talk about it. Bill self was like, ah,
we'd love to have out there, but not out there.
Various injuries, mostly cramping. Ow he even had to go
to the hospital because he had a full body cramp.

(10:01):
If you've ever seen that, you're next chest. I have
got a really bad tramp. I've been having really bad
crimps all week.

Speaker 6 (10:07):
It's probably menstrual.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Screw you, Melon, that's the moment you knew the young
melon he had. You know, he had taken over the
school right, gone from talboy to the best diver, to
taking on chess, winning the diving meet. It's probably manstrul,
Peterson told I've been bullied, so now I'm going to
bully this guy.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
It's probably menstrue.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Yeah, what are you a chick? Will mean? Well, I've
got a cramp. Darren Peterson told ESPN he's discovered what
caused the muscle cramping issues.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
I wonder what it was.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
High doses of creatine, but I never took creatine before
he got to Kansas. But as soon as he started
taking it during preseason practices, something immediately started dealing with
cramping in his legs. And then the cramping spread like
a fire, whole body, throughout, whole body, whole bot holistic
body cramps. A bad situation. As I often tell the people,

(11:01):
I believe it was the summer of ninety seven. All
of us at USC had to sign in and take
our creatine, and they'd like watch us take it. They
were making us all take creatine. All of us got
bigger and stronger and faster. Most of us me included,
spent the summer on the toilet, but only one of us,
Marvin Powell, the third from Birmingham High's kidneys failed completely.

(11:24):
And then we didn't have to take creatine anymore.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
And so mysteriously, those waivers we had decide.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Every day, and one day we got we didn't have
to run because we all went to the hospital to
visit Marvin the Ducks, and that was in ninety seven.
I'd take a creatine. Thirty years later it was the creatine.
How could I How could I have guessed? Who's the
doctor in Kansas?

Speaker 2 (11:49):
My God, just eat these gummies. Darren?

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Have you been doing so delicious? Darren? Have you been
doing anything different since you've come here to Laurence? No,
not for real, I don't know. The Ducks. Tim Kats's
team to.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Night split in Vegas. They now hold home eyes Game
three at the Pond. Jansen harkins a goal in Game two,
one of hard best.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Shut U up like nobody like nobody's doing your Ducks thing, dude,
nobody's going with you to Anaheim. He's one of us.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
He said Kate. When Kate starts growing a beard, He's
got a beard right now, right, and I think when
he when he acknowledges that the beard is coming in
because of the Ducks, we got real problems.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Uh, Harky, I love, I love what Q love what
he's doing.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Uh. Here is Harkey on why the playoffs are special
just fun?

Speaker 6 (12:41):
Really, I think you know, everybody wants to play, Everyone
wants to play in these, you know, important games.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
This is the best type of hockey to be playing.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
So you know, it's it's not easy to watch, but
you know, I think everyone's doing a great job. We
played so well in round one, you know, just trying
to be ready for for my ansing.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yeah, happy, I could you know, do a good job?

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Ask him Dods? Why again, is there any football news?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Matt big news. The NFL Referees Association ratified the new
seven year collective bargaining Agreement today. There will be no
replacement refs, there will be no fail mary, there will
be no conflict between play and officiating that we suffered
through some five six years ago foret.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Madison Beer's new video came out and Justin Herbert's looking
off flittery and Flunley.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
I got a new favorite song.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
He's on the beach, dancing around with her, the nipple
twisting and rubbing nipples, telling secrets to each other, telling
little secrets, playing patty Cake, legitimately playing Patty Cake. I
haven't felt this much love in the air since I
saw that pregnant Russini prancing on that dock in beautiful Tennessee. Well,

(13:54):
I'd like to point out I Grable walking behind her
like some giant ape. Got to unload.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Petrosen money show appearances by Justin herbert One, Madison Beer
video appearances by Justin Herbert One. We're like on par
with the love of his life. That's how big a
deal we are.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
We also played patty Cake with him too, which is
a little nofen. Right, all right, we will be killing you.
Turn that off, please, We'll be back with more petros
and money.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Put it on my headphone.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
I think if her boobs were two size as smaller,
he just said no to the video.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Love it boy, but they're just too big.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
We'll be back with more petros and money. A top
story of the day, man's gonna talk about baseball. Steam
head back coming up there.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
This is Petro send money on demand demand.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
All right, everybody, Petro send money. Still rolling on AM
five seventy LA Sports. It's a frog Man Friday, and
we are very pleased that you're with us. The Dodgers
are back in act after an early game in Texas
and a day off. Man, it feels so long since
the Dodgers have played, and so much has changed since
we last discussed them. But here it is before you

(15:11):
go any further, and don't forget to podcast the show
on the iHeartRadio app. Stream it live. It's always there
for you. Not everybody gets to listen live. Some people do.
Some people listen live and they don't know it's live
because they have played later.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Wow, freaked out.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Very confusing. But right now you should know that it's
the top story of the day about the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Top story of it. Well, we had Dave earlier. It
was big breaking news about an hour before we hit
the air, and it has been discussed throughout the course
of the show. But here in the top story we
revisit it again, and we do it through the lens
of looking back into a little bit of Dodger history,

(15:56):
and we have some immediate history. Yesterday We had the
conversation with Cliff Floyd about these young players that maybe
on any other team or just given a long ass
leash and they can play an entire season and not
have to worry about getting shuttling back and forth, getting
shuttled back and forth a triple A and back to
the big club. And now this guy's hurt, Now we
need you back up. Now this guy's healthy, Now you're

(16:17):
going back, and the challenge that that presents, and how
well maybe some of these young Dodger players have done
dealing with those circumstances, and today is the latest sort
of sort of demoicles that is hanging over their heads.
Dave Roberts asked about what was scheduled to be a

(16:38):
hell of a weekend for these three young pitchers. Tonight
Emmitt Shean was gonna be tomorrow, Roki Sasaki, Sunday Justin
Rableski against a Braves starting rotation that they specifically lined
up to play the Dodgers with their three aces Chris
Saale and the conversation as a cy Young Award winner

(16:59):
with his six on one record. But Roberts today, when
asked about the importance of these starts, especially in light
of Snell's return, he said, quote, I'd like to think
regardless of Blake coming back or not, they're focused to
perform at a high level is unchanged. But yes, there
is a point where when he is back, we are
going to have to make a decision. Well, he's back,
he's starting tomorrow, and I'll tell you.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
There's some crime children out in Ontario, Matt that just
flew into the Ontario Airport very unhappy.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
They're not buzzing the tower. Blake Snell's not making that start.
You got to come ten west if you want to
see Blake Snell, and it's gonna cost you considerably more,
considerably more, And don't forget. Despite Matt ignoring it yesterday,
traffic around Dodger Stadium, no picnic.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
That not the topic of conversation. You keep State College
out of your mouth, clean up your own yard.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Turns out most professional sporting stadiums have crappy traffic around
them when it's game time. I dug into the Robleski file,
as they call him around the league. That SUT's exciting,
and I found that the twenty five year old was
jerked around pretty good in twenty twenty five. Despite putting
together some solid outings for the big league club, but
that Oka se Express kept calling his name.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Just it.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
April, he makes a start in Oklahoma City. Six innings,
three hitch, shutout, ball bang called up spots start against
the National's disaster five innings, eight runs, two doggers. Thanks Roby,
see you later. Back to OKC. Two starts over the
next seven days. End of April, justin we need you

(18:37):
Cardinals again. Not great, three and two thirds, six runs,
a dogger, See you later. Probably won't hear from you
in a while. May a ton of Oklahoma City in there.
Five of his six starts in the month of May
were for Oklahoma City and Triple A. But there he is.
May fifteenth, Hey, pal, I see you're getting a little

(18:58):
bit of rhythm down there. You're only twenty four years old.
But uh, how about a little spot start versus the e'es.
Let's see how it goes. Ah four innings, one hit,
no runs, four strikeouts. Maybe I can build on this. Nope, Nope, no,
you can't.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
Feels like a lot up and down.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Back to Oklahoma City for the rest of the month. Roby.
Three more appearances for you in the Sooner State. So
he pitches well enough in those three corrections and retraction.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
I believe it is Roe Blow.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Roblow gets three more in the Sooner State, and he
pitches well enough to get the call up in June.
And what do you know, he's got some rhythm. He's
helping out the team. He's throwing five innings one run,
one run, two runs, six innings, a shutout ball and
he makes five June starts Saint Louis, San Francisco, San Diego,

(19:54):
Colorado KC. One more in June versus Houston that does
not go well at all, four and two thirds, seven hits,
four earned runs. Longer, see you later, justin back to
Oklahoma City. Two more starts down at Triple A, and
what happens there? Again? They go great? One earned run

(20:15):
over those two starts called back up as the remainder
of the season.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
He's a real road warrior.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Right bullpen arm. Nine of his fifteen games he doesn't
allow a run, only gets knocked around one time. Philly's
got him for five and just a third of an
Indian in September, and what happens, They're like, eh, little
recency bias here doesn't make the damn postseason roster for
the wild card, for the divisional round, or for the NLCS,

(20:44):
and his final outing was getting knocked around by the Phills.
So what do you know, Hey, hey, justin, we need
you here in the World Series. Bud twenty five years old,
still hasn't played a full season of Major League baseball,
and he threw into four of the seven World Series games,
including that eighteen inning marathon.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Is the more exciting part of the Robleski Files, right,
never mind that we didn't think you were good enough
to be in the bullpen for a wild card series
against the Red The Matt with his Fedora crooked flashlight
in his mouth, licking the pencil lights off, looking at
the Robleski Files, shuffling through the papers right, makes it

(21:25):
to the World Series.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Eyes pop out in five innings. In those four World
Series appearances, he gives up exactly zero runs. He does
not walk a batter, He strikes out six. He allows
just four hits over those five innings. That's it, including
Game freaking seven, twenty five years old. Game seven, O'tani

(21:48):
just doesn't have it two and a third gives up
five hits, three runs, And what do they do? First
guy out of the bullpen to hope this thing doesn't
get out of hand. Is Robleski, a guy that couldn't
make the postseason roster for any of the previous series.
And it's the middle of the third inning, Bishet just
freaking blows a bomb out of the Rogers Center against

(22:08):
Otani and they're up three to nothing, and this guy's
got to get out of that mess. Even though the
bases are empty, doesn't inherit any Runners. He then continues
to pitch in the fourth little bit of traffic out there,
hits a guy. Springer gets a number in front of
the catcher one two on one out and he gets
Lukes to strike out in guerra to line out threat
quash three to one Dodgers, and of course they go

(22:31):
on Mickey Row the hero in the top of the
ninth Will Smith the homer in extras to seal their
back to back World Series championship, and Rableski, a young
man that's barely talked about, but yet he's included. And
the answer from Dave Roberts earlier today, We're gonna have
to make a decision, and that decision is going to

(22:53):
revolve around a guy with that resume, and depending on
whether or not he is going to throw Sunday or
how they want to line this thing up and move
this thing around and shake it all up. These young
men are going to have to try to do business
against a hell of a braves rotation that was set
specifically for this series. What inspirational table center Chris sale P.

(23:17):
We remember Chris sale in the Cy Young conversation with
his six on one record and his two to one
four ERA. He starts tonight second, starting his return from
injury for Spencer Strider tomorrow, going against the two time
cy Young winner Blake Snell has broken here earlier today
and then hello, my name is Elder Bryce with his

(23:38):
two oh two ERA and forty five strikeouts and forty
nine in ings will be going on Sunday. Will Robleski
go up against him with his spotless record, with his
team best ERA and with that sword of Damocles hanging
over him that Dave Roberts when asked, will it be
either Roki Sasaki, Justin Robleski or Emmett She and that

(24:00):
will be the odd man out quote short answer, Yes,
that's what that guy has to operate under. Is it fair?
I don't know, it's a team that won back to
back World Series, and you're probably not going to keep
Robleski if you got both Blakes.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
I mean, if he was on the age, he'd be pitching.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Every you know, every day, every sixday.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
For six I think I've a Japanese guy every six
I don't know, you know, but you know you're right.
It would be a lot more consistent for him. Instead,
it's a it's a blessing and occurs to be on
the Dodgers. Matt and I barely understood that before. You
just went through the Rableski files, and now I really
see it, really see it.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Thank you appreciate that. And she and of course we'll
get to bed on his family too. Oh, no question,
where we're going?

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Where's Justin? Is he an? Ok? See, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Know.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
They flew him into Kansas City for a spot start
all right, change the flight plans. We got to drive.
Now we can get over there. What's the point of
talking old stuff because these guys I often wanted, they're
coming or going. Man, Shean reportedly is going to be
the guy that gets sent down, But what if he
have duels? You know, maybe the guy that finishes two
or three, nobody's gonna knock Skeens out, even though Tani

(25:12):
it feels like at this point, because he can't get
any run support, it feels like Sheenan's gonna be the guy.
Shean's gonna be the guy that gets sent down if
both glass Now and snell Or back. But what if
Robeleski gets wobbly? What if Roki relapses into his rough
start to the season. Because it's gonna keep getting brought up.
And that's why Dave Roberts is answering the questions that

(25:34):
are posed to him. Everybody wants to know which one
of these talented young guys. I mean, hell, it's even
happening to Hessong Kim. Why does he have to be
mentioned in every question about who's going down when Mooki
comes back? Hessong Kim has a higher war, a higher average,
a higher OPS than Freddie, than Kyle Tucker. Then Will Smith,

(26:00):
who Ken Rosenthal just wrote about today going to the
Hall of Fame. I would like to think we'd be
invited to that ceremony.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Doubt that we would be.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Well, we can hope he is tied for second on
the team and steals despite having only half the bats
of the guys that he's tied with and are in
front of him, Otani and Pies. We brought it up
again with Cliff Floyd yesterday with the best team in
NL in town, the Braves. With that rotation lined up,
these are not going to be easy games. But the
Dodgers are asking these kids that have one foot in

(26:30):
the dugout and another on a plane to play for
the Oklahoma City Comets. It's asking a lot, and it'd
be pretty freaking awesome if once again they not the
top of the order and they're thirty to seventy million
dollar a season salaries. Where the catalyst for Dodger's success
when the stakes feel a little bit higher here in

(26:51):
the regular season.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Very inspirational stuff about the Dodger roster construction here in May.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I think I roster construction with Matt Smith the podcast
with some cool graphics could be something to think about.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Oh, like a like a crane.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
You've been very concerned about the bottom of the you
know who's going down, who's staying out. You've been doing
that all year, right. You actually called for an international
conflict with South Korea when Hessong Kim started out the
season in triple A.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
I think that was fair well.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Obviously you've doubled out again now you know, you've thrown
down the gauntlet again. I think this has been a
really good uh this the roster construction with Matt Smith,
it's almost like he got a chart on the wall
like we have here in the studio with Tim Gates,
and he just moved glass now over and and so
that solves a problem for now. But like you said, Matt,

(27:48):
you never know. Everybody's got one foot on the private jet.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Anyone can talk one through nine here, we like to
talk about twenty three through twenty Six's.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Twenty six, That's what I want to know. To hell
n it, who's the odd man out, the twenty seventh
guy and the roster? What are we doing the latest
here on Petros and Money. We'll be right back with
your dead and a live guy Birthday in the day
and Sam five seventy LA Sports, your home of Dodger Baseball.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Southern California's most listened to sports talk show. This is
Petro Money on Demand, mercifully coming to an end.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Is the one and only Petro send Money Show live
on A five seventy La Sports, your home of Dodger Baseball.
Back to back World Series champions, Dodgers, Braves, Tonight Dodgers
on deck moments away. The Braves are really good and
they have a hatchet in their logo. What does it mean?

(28:49):
Who's to say? But it should be an exciting baseball matchup.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Yeah, we've discussed it throughout the course of the show,
a big one. You got their big three that they
have lined up to start against the Dodgers. Chris Sayle,
Bryce Elder, Spencer Strider and as Dave shared some big
breaking news. Going to be an exciting weekend a baseball
and a potential NLCS preview. And that's what we talk
about on the Petro said money Sho on May.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
I hope there's no scalpings out there. It's an ugly
way to die.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
It would be one of the worst ways to die.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
I knew what it was like on the frontier. It
could happen to a whole family.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Don't want to take an arrow to the throat. Also
a terrible way to die. Oh, hatchet to the middle
of your back.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Brave Indian Warrior, Tonight, Braves, Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
We're in a cartoon esque sort of way to go.
Don't want to be dropped into a vat of boiling
water over an open flame while they do that dancing
around they do the dancer round. Man, also, don't want
to di that way. Cannibalism, Okay, it's a different time.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
We will not serve people, but we will serve great
food through BJ's Restaurant in brew House. A week from
today at this time, a week from tonight, Matt and
I will just be leaving. Matt Smith will be signing
his final autographs, taking pictures with the Charger fans. We'll

(30:24):
be leaving BJ's Restaurant in brew House in Downey from
two to five thirty. You don't have to be Latino
to attend. We'd appreciate it if you were doctor. That
guy's Latino. We've got Dodger tickets, Yes, we got bs.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
He just kind of no that guy. Come on, I
think he's imperial.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
R No, I'm pretty sure that guy. Trust me. BJ's
gift cards tickets to see the biggest MMA fight night
ever at Into It Dome with a fight card that
includes Ronda Rousey, Gina Corano, Nate Diaz, and Francis Inghanu.

(31:08):
All the inside I have into that is that we
once interviewed Ronda Rousey live and she smelled like an ass.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
She was pitting.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
She smelled bad.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
What she didn't I don't know if I would say ass.
I think her pits were.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
You know what I mean. We all have our own
old factory. Yeah, I remember she and she was put
you in an arm bar. She put me in an
arm bar and was right up on me. It was
like being tackled by a bison. Last time you took
a shower, They're gonna be showers in Venice Beach where
you live.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
But I might have just been the jacket. The jacket
had absorbed all that pit, and when she lifted the
arm to do the photo, it's like, okay, so that's
where we're going with this.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
So it's gonna be a hell of a fight. So
what we're saying be very efensive. We're getting a Matt.
You got the dead guy birthday in day to day?

Speaker 2 (32:01):
I do, God, damn it, I don't.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
I've got the dead guy beating out Harry Truman, who
I've got the dead guy beating out Harry Truman, who
dropped the bomb. But as we always discuss here on
the show. A Japanese invasion would have been worse. It
would have been terrible.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Wow, you know the Tokyo fire rates were killing more people.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
In many would have died people. Truman gets a bad
rap for the decision he made.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
They were never going to surrender, they.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Were gonna fight to the last Japanese guy. They were,
and then what we wouldn't even have Otami.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Trying to figure out you know what I'm saying, half
of Japan dies.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
We don't get a lot of stuff, Okay, but Canadian news,
it's Canadian news. Rick our show you Hey, yes, Sir
Adolph Basil Ruthier. No shock that they've dropped the aid

(33:01):
off now from Quebec makes sense. Tough to be an
one of those French Canadian types. I'm sure the Anaheim
Ducks have tons of them. French Canadian Anyway, this guy
who went to school in Quebec went to the University
Laval gold Rouge Et or what shut up anyway, Adolf

(33:30):
practice law and did well enough in French law to
earn an appointment as a judge in Canada, where you're like, hey,
you ate too much of that guy's poutine. You're going
You're going to Canadian jail. But this guy Basil is
the guy who wrote the French lyrics and the basic

(33:57):
body of the Canadian National anthem. Oh Canada. That's right, Matt.
Not exactly a lightweight.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
No long considered one of the finest anthems out there.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
His poem became the lyrics translated into English and in
the original French of the Great Canadian National Anthem. The
music was written by Calixe LaVale interesting who was a
musician in the American Union Army during the Civil War

(34:27):
despite being a Canuck, and it was the de facto
anthem of Canada until nineteen thirty nine, and that's when
it became official. The English lyrics were written by a
guy named Robert Stanley Weir, another Canadian judge. But those
English lyrics have been revised three times. How many times
have they messed with Adolph Basil Ruthiers Canadian French lyrics?

(34:51):
Not at all. So that's something to be proud of
for the Luke Robotize of the world.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Certainly Robotize just wigh in. I think you sent a
touch to Gates.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
He was he was married, he had a son. He
was one of the judges appointed to oversee the sinking
of the Empress of Ireland, which was a terrible boat
accident that resulted in the loss of one thousand plus lives.
Bad deal. I don't know what the judgment was. This

(35:21):
was a terrible tragedy. I guess that was the judgment.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Could see that.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
And you know, the guy that ordered the lyrics of
Oh Canada was the governor of Quebec, Theo Robati, a
distant relation of Lucky Luke Roboti, who will be watching
the Anaheim Ducks play bitterly Ton. But happy birthday to

(35:52):
the guy that wrote the Canadian You know, sorry you
lost in the Olympics, and sorry that you're not going
to get another Stanley Cup, and sorry about the Leafs
hiring that shyster to be the GM but hey, celebrate today.
This guy wrote the French lyrics of your cool song.
Lucy Lawless once had her boob PLoP out while she
was singing it. What a moment.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Never forget it. You're a live guy. Hold the music
for a second. Kates one of the all time greats.
He's been celebrated here before. Philip James Bailey Grammy winner,
MTV Video Music Award winner, the Rock and Roll Hall
of Famer and one of the great sets of bridge
lyrics you'll ever sing. Now, don't try to change her,

(36:35):
just leave it. Leave it. You're not the only one
because seeing is believing and it's the only way you'll
ever know. Oh oh, we get to play easy Lover
on a Friday. We play Easy Lover on a Friday.
Headed Cakes. Now, Philip Bailey isn't just a guy that

(36:58):
did a killer duet with Phil Collins, who, by the way,
produced his solo record, Chinese Wall, that had Easy Lover
on it. It's a hell of an album name right
in the mid eighties Chinese Wall. Of course, Bailey is
in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because he
was one of the two lead singers and earth Win

(37:18):
in Fire with Maurice White. Born and raised in Denver,
University of Denver, then on to See You, was into jazz,
was into R and B. Played in a college band
in Boulder called Friends in Love, and while he was
still a student, got the call. White reaches out in
seventy two and says we need that falsetto Phil Are

(37:40):
you in? Of course he was in, because without that
you don't have any goddamn Earth, you don't have any wind,
and you don't have any fire. You don't have September,
you don't have shin Star.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
The elements that you need to have production.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Earth Went and Fire, by the way, still going strong
with Bailey leading them on stage. Is the front man.
Considered one of the finest vocalists in all of music.
A four octave vocal range. But it's that falsetto Earth
Went and Fire, the falsetto and of course you hear
it here with Phil Collins on Easy Loover that gives
it that last in power. Some forty years later.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
Some of you might wonder what that is, and that
means just singing real.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
High, yeah, real high, like we do from time to
time on the show. His first solo release was in
eighty three, did well, a top ten hit called I
Know But Easy Loover was the biggest thing he ever
did have Number one here, number one in the UK.
He's huge in Europe. Philip Bailey's got a lot of

(38:45):
top tens over there. Sweden, Switzerland also really into the
Philip Bailey. He's done a lot of collaborations, as you
would imagine with that range, quite appealing to a lot
of folks. PM Down. Brian McKnight did a jazz record
with patman FENI oh yeah, see, that's how you win

(39:06):
the Video Music Award right there, you break down the
video in the middle of it about how they're putting
the whole thing together. He did Jazz Verve put out
all of his jazz releases. Love Will Find a Way
in twenty nineteen was the number one jazz album of
the year. Gospel The Wonders of His Love in eighty four,
Triumph in eighty six, Family Affair in eighty nine. Guest

(39:29):
appearances on a ton of records as well, Stevie Wonder,
Square Circle, Part Time Lover, Overjoyed, You Got the Philip
Bailey on that, Nancy Wilson, Kenny Logins, Celo's Fool for You,
which went to number one, as Philip Bailey on at
twenty one Grammy nominations seven wins, and Our Easy Lover. Well,
the man that warned you of Easy Lovin is seventy

(39:52):
five years old today, Philip Bailey, I mean that sure,
hold on.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
You believe it's important to UH to understand the element
and earth, wind and fire, I mean, along with some
other things that are really important to us as America.
The Tower of Power, I think would be one of
those very truth If you don't have a foundation under you,
next thing you know, you know, you're popping in the
Olivia Rodrigo album and now you're in real bed Hope,

(40:25):
the humanity hold a big thank you to Steve from
Rick and Morty, our executive producer, Tip Kates, Ronnie Fossio.
We'll be back on Monday live from Dodger Stadium at
three o'clock. Enjoy your weekend, everybody,
