Speaker 3 (00:08):
You are one of the kind, hosted by Petros, Papaday
guests left school after sixth grade and the voice of
the Bolts not Money Smith.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
The answer is on money. There is nothing you can do.
You know it's coming. This is the Petros and Money Show.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
On the home of your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Make us your top preset on the iHeartRadio App.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored
from the.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Ute Spectro say money, Am five seventy LA Sports. We
are alive everywhere on the iHeartRadio app at three to
six show. Today the gallping Ford Broadcast Booth will have
Dodgers Baseball trying to avoid a four game losing streets.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
You hit the button.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Yeah, I think you're right. I feel like it is.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
It's pair. You know it's fair. I heard David Vassy
getting very frustrated last night.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Nine runs allowed to the to the Giants, the worst
offense in baseball the Dodgers. There it is.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
The Dodgers look terrible. Lack a dais aico flimsy, tired,
couldn't hit uncompetitive Consalvo bats. What a terrible night for
your Los Angeles Dodgers. Tonight is another night, Yoshi Yamamoto.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Well done, he'll appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Is on the mound, thank you. And I think we
have tickets to give away too.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Matt every hour every hour for Star Wars Night on
Thursday imate shean on the mound another seven o'clock start.
So we're three to six today, tomorrow and Thursday for
the Giant Series, and we'll give away a pair every hour,
just like we did yesterday. Well yesterday we're supposed give
them away every hour, but we were at Dodger Stadium
and got caught up in that second hour down on
the field. But yes, one pair of this hour, next

(02:15):
hour and in the five o'clock hour for grogub Bobblehead Night.
Tonight is ice Cube Bobblehead Night. In the last two weeks, Brad.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
The bartender said, what a week of giveaways. A Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Packed them all. Who would have ever thought they would
pack World Series Trophy, Replica Trophy Night, ice Cube Grogu
Blake snell all of those bobbleheads into one series. Yet
here we are against the Braves and the Giants and
all those great giveaways, against two of the marquee series
of the season. To really pack the house for a

(02:51):
team that has scored more than three runs again with
this offense, with that list of names on that offense,
they have scored more than three runs three times in
the last two weeks.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah, it's a real downer. It's a real downer. And
Dodger it's very frustrating when the bats are consalo. I mean,
you've still got all the great stuff going on at
Dodger Stadium, but the consado bats make it very difficult
to enjoy. Let's see what happens tonight as Hope springs
eternal night in the world of baseball. David Vassai with

(03:26):
the latest from Dodger Stadium, will join us in the
very next hour, and don't forget at the end of
the week on a flex alert. Starting at two o'clock,
Matt and I and I'm assuming Kates, we'll be live
at the BJ's Restaurant in brew House in Downey, California
from two to five thirty before the Dodgers Angels game.

(03:48):
We got Dodgers tickets we've got BJ's gift cards, some
of which were given away some BJ's gift cards at
Vassay's Downy event last week. We got take us to
see the Big MMA fight at the into A Dome.
And it all starts at BJ's restaurant in brew House

(04:08):
on Friday from two to five thirty. This week, we
come together. You're bringing clothes. I have game worn clothing
and Matt has baby clothes. He said yesterday, ladies and
children clothes for young people.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
I'll bring my T shirts for you.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
That side of the that side of the Bjys will
be labeled lad and Lassie.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
It's the brass Rail, is what I will have for you.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Oh are you lad and Lassie? Okay, get on over
over here for you. It's gonna be a heck of
a time. So we hope that you come out and
enjoy that. And if you can't, well you could just
stay connected. Like Isabelle Camp she said, Friday's her laundry day.
That's what she told me the other day.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
That's as good a reason to stay behind as any.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
You said, I have to have clean clothes, and they said,
you're right, You're right. You know that is overrated. That
is logical, so you could be eligible just to win
the thousand dollars if you can't make it to Downey,
how'd you like to win a thousand dollars? Listen between
nine and five. We're in that window right now. That
door's wide open.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Now.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Can I go back to you your bag of game
worn clothing?

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Sure, but make sure you listen every weekday for your
chance to win a thousand dollars every hour from seventy
LA Sports Bonus Bucks brought to you by Sweet Chain.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Will one of the game worn items not, in fact
not be game worn, but we'll be celebrating ninety five
years of superior service the Monobelo bus lines T shirt
with the Whittier Boulevard East Los Angeles stop highlighted. Will
that be one of the T shirts that you'll be
giving away?

Speaker 3 (05:51):
No, I believe I would want to keep my hands
on that, right, like ride the d That's a keeper
for me, right. But there are some some very there's
some surfside T shirts in there as well, Okay that
are not game.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Warn right, not game warn freebies given to us as
radio hosts sponsors.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, passed on. I'm like a catalyst, not game warn
but many are game warn.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
And those aren't regifts. They were never gifted us. It
was just kind of part of the deal, like, hey,
you're talking about Surfside. Here's a bunch of stuff to
help you promote the brand.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
And that's what we're doing.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
That's right, promoting the brand, putting it in the street.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Now, Matt, the Lakers lost, and we're going to talk
about it throughout the day.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Well, they played so hard, Yeah, they played so hard.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
The broadcast really really scoured the sacks of the Lakers
for the whole broadcast, like the fact that they didn't
lay down.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
I mean you found the broadcast to know what channel
was that on night?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
It was on Amazon, Oh, it was on the it
was on the Prime There it was on And you
know what, I didn't have a problem with the with the.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
The STUDIOUFF for a whole lot. It was okay, No,
that was fine. And I didn't have an issue about
the student show with Dirk and Nash. Yeah, Blake Griffin
and u D and that sale a lot of guys,
it's it's can we just a lot of people that
are gay. I'm not Kenny, you know, used to be
Kenny and Charles and Ernie and then Shack got at
it and that was fine.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
I don't feel fantastic, but I know happened. I don't
know when that happened. I think that was a Fox thing.
It happened, and it would happen at all levels. Yeah,
like you like this show, Well, here's six other guys. Oh,
here's the barstool big Cat outside of the stadium. Oh
you like that. Here's four more guys.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Like CBS out of a fifth and then Amazon on
Thursday Night added a sixth.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Here's Whitworth sweatshirt and a and a.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Blazer, Whitworth, Togo, Sherman, Fitzie.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Hey, let's throw it out. The three guys at Alcatraz
that were putting out the pasture. Yeah, I didn't have
a problem with that. But the broadcast with Dwayne Wade
and Canvas Parker, Kevin Harland, he couldn't even save that.
That was a That was a listen as if I
do say so myself. But the Lakers lost, and now they.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Played their ashes off though pee They did not lay down.
They didn't let go of the rope, no plaid their
tails off. You know, they were giving it a go
until Reddick was like, there is a zero percent chance
in hell that I am putting my ass back on
a plane to Oklahoma City. Really, get out of the
game for this potential game dying three Kleber, Yeah, get

(08:29):
in I haven't played all game, Coach, I know, get
in there, curious, and let's ensure that there is a
zero percent chance that something good comes out of this
posistionion there to.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Get an offensive rebound or something. Yeah, very very interesting
way to lose, Coach.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
You just put the best three point shooter on the bench,
but we needed three to tie this thing up with
ten seconds left? What are we doing here?

Speaker 3 (08:52):
They covered for the only time in the series.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
Congratulations.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
If these are things to celebrate, then the standards have
real competitive sweep.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
Now see, they can't do the competitive sweep because the
average margin of defeat was sixteen and a half points,
So there's not that. So what can we do. Well,
there's that we didn't let go of the rope. Didn't
let go of the rope in Game four, battled to
the bitter end.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
They're going to cling to that, and that's all Candace
and Dwayne. I just am so impressed with the fact
that these basketball players are playing basketball with effort.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I'll tell you what, Candace, here's what I'm impressed by.
The team on the other side. Yeah, that has hammered
them to the two to sixteen and a half points
without their second best player and a second round pick
perhaps being the best player on the floor for the series.
That's what I'm most impressed by, not that the Lakers
haven't let go of the rope. I don't know, if

(09:48):
you know, Lebron is really great, and every time he
touched the floor, Candace and Dwayne Wade just started to
like vibrate, almost like a seizure. And his post game
last night, he was asked about his favorite moments in
his seven seasons in Los Angeles.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
I mean, obviously winning a championship twenty twenty was standing
at the top. I mean, that was the reason why
I came here to restore, you know, that that level
of play and restore this franchise back to what it
was known for winning championships and playing at a high level.
And you know, to be out there with that group
and go out there and win a championship and us
competing at a championship level with something I kind of envisioned,

(10:27):
and he was able to accomplish that, so that would
stand at the top for sure.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Yeah, I can believe that, Lebron, because outside of that,
you missed the playoffs twice, got booted in the first
round three times. I believe he was swept twice out
of the playoffs, lost with home court advantage once in
the first round. So yeah, I could see why the

(10:54):
championship would be the one thing that you would mention,
because I really don't think there's anything else.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Well. Playing with Bronni oh good point, good point, and
we said that was the most important thing that's ever
happened to him in his career. He did the other day.
I don't know why he forgot about that while answering
this question. Seems like a bit of a contradiction, But
that's Lebron. I won a championship. I restored Laker glory. Yeah,
fair did you did win a championship. And then he

(11:20):
was asked about what everybody's thinking about Matt the future.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
I mean, I don't know what the future holds for me.
Obviously as it stands right now tonight, I got a
lot of time. I'll sit back, Like I think I
said it last year, after we lost, I think to
Minnesota there, go back and recalibrate with my family and
talk with them and spend some time with them. And
then when the time comes out obviously, now you guys
know what I decided to do.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
I'm going to recalibrate.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
I like good recalibration.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Through yachning, I will re calibrate.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
I am a big fan of recalibrating. Probably gonna play
some golf. Makes you those those camera shots are real tight.
Don't want people to see where his ball's going. But
I don't want to tell you how much I got
the itch, how much I love the golf, big fan
of the golf. Do a lot of that.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
And he could podcast podcast. He can recalibrate by podcast.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
It is Taco Tuesday. He can try to claim a
trademark on something that's.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Been ye ye yea yea yea yea yea yeah yah
yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Out there for the last sixty years. Uh so, yeah,
a lot of stuff he can get to.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
You know, and Matt, now that this has happened, now
that he's going to be yachting and golfing and tacoing.
Now that this has happened, Tim Kates has taken the
liberty of building out, which can be used throughout the
summer and spring. Here a new Lebron watch.

Speaker 7 (12:47):
The Lebron Watch, Lebron Watch.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
How it Feels.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
If you're not on Twitter or Instagram, make sure you
sign up. Make sure you follow King James, because I
would assume whether it's a pivotal Game seven in the
Calves Piston series or at some point in the Conference
finals between either the Spurs, Timberwolves or the Thunder, you're
gonna you're gonna get an update. You're gonna get a

(13:34):
very cryptic update to what that man's intentions are moving forward.
Maybe takes a shot, a very obvious shot at former
teammates with the Lakers or the front office or something
he didn't like that. You know, they didn't do me right.
I could have been in this round of the playoffs,
but look what I had to work with now. Lucas

(13:56):
hamstring might be a target of derision, something along those lines.
You're gonna want to get on the social media channels
because you know Lebron's gonna sub tweet something at you.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Oh, he's gonna do something I call attention to himself,
and then we're gonna hit then we're gonna hit art
sounder and have a very loud climax.

Speaker 7 (14:13):
Lebron Watch.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Yes, Matt, you bring up an interesting point. I cannot
wait to see how this dismounts.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
How does this end?

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Anyway it ends? Is this gonna be a good in
a bad ind Is this gonna be a contentious end?
I mean Broni's still on the Lakers technically. Is he
gonna bad mouth the organization if he leaves?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Is he coming back?

Speaker 5 (14:36):
And we're all sweet and we're all family again, and
this is the greatest thing ever in Lakerland. I cannot
wait to see how this ultimately ends.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Cannot wait.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Well, you know it will be. It will be chronicled
and described as smartily as possible rye Rob Polinka. So
at least we'll have that.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
To wait for that. We'll have highlights of that throughout
the show. Uh. Does the song still apply? You can
still be part of Lebron watching? Do you think Scott
stats annoying? I believe failed the king? What do you believe? Man?

Speaker 4 (15:29):
I believe I saw something today.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Tell us your belief on the Uh?

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Yes, Lebron has won three NBA championships and he has
been swept. No, he's won four NBA championships and he
has been swept out of the playoffs four times. So
there is that swept by the Nuggets, swept by the Thunder,
swept by the Golden State Warriors and Spurs, both of

(15:57):
those in the NBA Finals back to back years seven
teen or two thousand and seven, and much like.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
I think it was the brit Awards some years ago,
Matt where Madonna was performing and a giant fan was
supposed to blow her gown while she was dancing provocatively
and instead steady like a lizard's skin shedding, it blew
her off of the stage. And that's how I think

(16:25):
of Lebron being swept.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Just blown off the stage, man, I think, to further
your point, there your your stat. He's been swept out
of the playoffs in three decades in a row.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
Oh look at that. Yeah, two thousand and seven, great one, Kates,
Uh just recently too well twice I think in this decade,
right by the by the Nuggets, and then the Thunder,
and then once by the once in the NBA Finals
by the Golden State Warriors. When he was three different decades.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
I would say this, you know it can still they
played hard. Like you said, don't do it, Matt, I'll
play it every time Lebron can shoot threes.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Carrying his team. That didn't quite feel like boh, but
he did carry the team in the Houston series, really,

(17:42):
and that's what that should end the goat debate. Yeah,
on the first round series against Kevin durantless, Kevin Durant played.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
In one game and Lebron still dunked in that game.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
So he did and he shot some threes. Yeah, there's
no doubt he was wearing number twenty three.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
I do enjoy the fact that Lebron was blown out
of the playoffs. One thing, though, was a great crowd.
And do you know why it was a great crowd,
map give me it. It was the lowest priced Laker
game of the year because they were down oh three. Really,
according to a rash Marcozi, the tickets were going as

(18:25):
low as ninety dollars, So it's one of the lowest
price games of the year.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Are we going to be trus on everything, No, but
ticket prices and stadium food.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yes, that's his lane, lane, And if he was hired
to write a column about that, I believe he could
still dunk, but instead he was hired to write a
column like a general column like TJ. Simer's and compared
himself immediately to Jim Murray and it just went down
from there. But stadium food its swinging medium food ticket

(19:01):
prices and helicopter.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
To helicopter tors Vegas.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
That's my guy. And Arash said that this is the
that was the lowest priced Laker game or one of
the lowest of the year, which would explain why the
crowd was good. Right, those are the people that were
geeked up. Those are the people you want in there.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
There were a lot of celebrities there.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
For down low. I mean you had DiCaprio and I.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Mean for like a game that that's gonna send him home.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Well, it's their last opportunity to see LEBRONC has still done.
I mean, you know where's come on now we're talking
about the goat.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
I do think the non celebrity court side individual was
encapsulated with the one slicked back, black haired dude. I
don't know if you saw the picture of him on
the social media's it was making the rounds that was
wearing a pair and between his feet had another pair
of shoes that obviously, unless he had or legs, he

(20:01):
was not wearing. But each of those pairs of shoes
were the Nike back to the future addition that you
have to buy from like new old stock that were
original back to the mid eighties, and they go for
about thirty grand a pair on the secondary market. And

(20:23):
so he wanted to point out like, hey, not only
am I wearing THEES, but I got a backup pair
and I got sixty g's worth of shoes right here
on this court. That's the kind of guy I am.
That's the kind that Yeah, ye're right, that's what That's
what's sit in court side of a Laker game.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
They were mixed the ninety dollars ticket people were mixed
in with the with the very elite elites, the true elites.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
Can we all agree though, that Dylan Brooks is taunting
sitting baseline last night right in the view of everybody
shooting free throws include Lebron James is one of the
greatest tauntings ever in professional sports by another player. I
don't know, I mean the Phoenix Suns. Dylan Brooks b

(21:11):
isaac baseline seat. He's got his silver teeth he's got
his change everywhere laughing.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
The whole thing is weird because he's with Clutch Sports, right,
so it feels like the WWE to me, Lebron can
still dunk to.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Me and Dylan Brooks also, much like Lebron got ejected
from the playoffs and humiliating fashion being swept by the
Oklahoma City Thunder and they lost those games by like
thirty points per game, So it's not like that was
the whole thing case with the troll job is well,
he just the Phoenix Sun suffered the exact same fate

(21:49):
they lost in four They lost by like fifty points
per game. So how is can't really have a troll job,
right if the team that you're trolling got around for
other than you and suffered the exact same fate that
you had to contend with. Yeah, but one on one
personal Lebron Dylan Brooks, it kind of feels like a

(22:09):
cool tent chob a TJ.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
It's kind of like like a boxer, like after a
guy knocks you out, that the guy that got knocked
out of the previous fight, you know, you show up
at the next fight like, yeah, knock him out.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
You knocked your ass out. Well, yeah, yeah, he does
feel like that.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
You're right. I'm sorry it felt a little weird, but yes,
it was a big deal on social media and Lebron.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
That's how I feel right now. You can still shoot threes.
It's just having fun.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
I didn't look like he was having fun last night.
Snailed by the King.

Speaker 7 (22:54):
Lebron.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Watch, Ah, we'll be right back with the top story
of the day.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
Wonder what it's about.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
I don't know. The Dodgers are in a terrible slum.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
I can't do it. I got excited when they went
up three to two, and I became incredibly disappointed on
the flood dite open in the seven. So we'll have
Vassa on the answer for that, I think so I'd
rather make funnel Lebron.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
In the final hour, we'll discuss the USC Notre Dame developments.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Seems like they're positive.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
It's better than Talking's better than not talking. Matt, Right,
what kind of talk show would we have if we
couldn't talk. I don't think we'd have a talk show,
right exactly. I just can't have a game if you
don't talk.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
What's that talk show all about? It's for the death?

Speaker 3 (23:53):
What's it about It's about silence.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
They love it, death love it.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Enjoy the show and we'll return with more Petrosen Money
Top story of the day.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
Now this is Petro Send Money, Demand Demand.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
Petro said money A five seven E l A Sports.
We are live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. We got
Dodger tickets every single hour. They want to do it. Matt,
you feel like we can do it now we're doing
the next segment.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
I mean, you know, I mean you're somebody that it
knows when to do it and how to do it.
I mean we can do it, adapt at it.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
I mean, what do we got going on the next segment.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
We're going to talk about the South?

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Since the segment, not.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Since the Siege of Vicksburg has there been such an attack.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
On the Let's let's let's tease it till the next segment.
You want to go Thursday, if the Star wars night,
you got to listen to the Siege of the South.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
You will give it away red before that, right, Thanks
for listening, everybody. It's Petro sid buddy. The Dodgers lost
last night. They looked bad. David Vassei will answer for
it in the next segment. We've been talking Lakers. We'll
continue to do that with the top story of the end, top.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
Story of this Yeah, a lot of people discussing the
Lakers getting bounced in dismissive fashion against the Thunder because
they couldn't stop them. That ultimately, that's what it comes to.
When the Thunder needed to make a stop, they got
to stop. When the Lakers needed to get a stop,

(25:39):
they didn't. Now JJ Reddick last night, notwithstanding when he
benched Ruy Hachimura in the final seven seconds of the
game and they needed a three to tie the game,
and he's been shooting forty eight percent from beyond the
art because he doesn't want to hop on a plane
to get to Oklahoma City.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Was under fifty though under fifty for sure, so I
can understand why he took.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
About Well, he put a guy in that hadn't played
the entire game and it's not known as a three
point specialist. MAXI get out there, serious, coach. I didn't
expect these guys to hold onto the rope. I expected
them to let go of the rope. And here we are,
and I am not going back to Oklahoma City. We

(26:18):
have got a trip book to Puntakata and I'm not
going there. Reddick did a hell of a job on
Sega again last night. Now with Standing, who struggled to
reach his season averages, played more like a really really
good player as opposed to back to back league MVP
and a last like he looked like last night. He
looked like the back to back MVP. Aj Mitchell came

(26:38):
out of this series looking like an All Star, like
one of the great rising young talents in the game,
cheded Olgren like he still belongs in the Wembin Yama
at a Bio Golbert Duran embiid best center in the league. Conversation,
Lakers didn't have the depth and I had to move
the car this am this morning, and I was in

(27:02):
there for all of about two to two and a
half minutes. But I was listening to the Dodgers on
deck and the Dodger game am my home last night
and it was on the five seventy. So as soon
as I pressed the start button on the Mazda c
X ninety, I have and then after they put your
seatbelt on, Chime screams at me three times. By the

(27:22):
time I can get that belt to clip. Would love
to get a ten second leeway on the seatbelt chime
if you can just kind of maybe if I put
it in drive, then give me the chime of Hey,
Tim Conway Junior, you dirty dog, living your Burbank life
like it's nineteen seventy five and you're in your money

(27:42):
car low with lap belts. That's not what I'm doing,
just turning the car on and I'm getting the three
brings before I can buckle the belt. But once the
warnings subside, you know, I got Colin Coward now in
Colin at at nine am. Yeah, it's like nine to
thirty ish, maybe somewhere in there, maybe a little bit later.

(28:04):
You got to hear one of Collins hot takes, Hot
takes for like ninety to one hundred seconds screaming about
the Lakers lack of defense. And that's fine, Colin, probably not.
But the Lakers did have a guy who was top

(28:25):
five Defensive Player of the Year vote getter for his
entire time here in Anthony Davis, and someone who should
have won the Defensive Player of the Year in one
of those seasons, I think the year that they made
it to the conference finals and got a gentleman's not
a Gentleman's sweep, the most competitive sweep in the history
of basketball at the hands of the Nuggets. You're not
going to turn into a defensive team because you sign

(28:47):
guys who are baby good on defense. Lebron's gotta set
the tone, and Lebron has set the tone since he arrived,
and for a portion of his career he was an
incredible I mean, a true unicorn. The guy is as
unique in NBA body as we as we as we've
ever seen. I mean, he is a legitimate two hundred

(29:09):
and fifty pounds plus. Looks like an NFL edge rusher
out there, clearly taller, but two fifty five is pretty
much the most weight any athlete is carrying out there.

Speaker 6 (29:20):
Now.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Of course, you got your big guys. Jokicic just like
two eighty five, also a unicorn, but he certainly moves
considerably different than Lebron. Most of the guys that are
that heavy, that are north of two point fifty are bigs.
Are DeAndre Ayton and Rudy Gobert and Kevin Love and
those type of players. And he is like, he's heavier

(29:42):
than Karl Anthony Towns. He's heavier than centers, but he
stopped playing defense a while ago, like right when he
signed with the Lakers, if not within the first two years.
So for all the incoming that Luka Doncic takes and
by no stretches, he a good defender. His defensive war

(30:02):
is above Lebron's this season. Brandon Pajemski's too. If you
want to go the white guy shooter player. If you
want to go old player, Kevin Durant, who is I
would say partially defensive verse also ahead of Lebron and
defensive war. And a lot of people say that when
we bring our Don McLean's and James Worthy's on they say, yeah,

(30:26):
the defense is tone setting. If he's not busting his
ass on that side of the floor, it's hard to
get buy in. And Marcus Smart might have been a
defensive Player of the Year, but he's old now still solid,
but he's not Shay Gilgess Alexander. And that's the thing
about the team they played that swept them the thunder.
That is their culture. They are psychopaths on defense, dogs

(30:49):
with a w Why else would they trade a twenty
three year old great ball handler, great shooter, six seven,
two hundred and fifteen pound lottery pick guard straight up
for a thirty one year old undrafted free agent defensive
specialists Josh Gitty for Alex Caruso. A one for one swap,

(31:12):
No draft picks, no young players on a flyer coming back. No,
we will send you one of the more intriguing young
players in the league for a guy who has already
hit his ceiling. But we know exactly what he is.
A perimeter, lockdown guard who occasionally might give us double
digit scoring if the shots falling. That's what he is,

(31:32):
that's what he does. Will take him. Here's Josh Gitty,
Go have fun, give us Alex Caruso, and that's what
their identity is. If you're wondering if defensive war is
a legitimate stat I don't know. But I look at
the top ten and I see one Wembin Yama, two Chet, Holmgren, three,
Rudy Gobert. Also in the top ten Scottie Barnes, Derek White,

(31:57):
bam Adebayo, Assort Thompson. Looks pretty like yeah, those look
like the best defensive players in the league. Here is
what the thunder have on that list. I mentioned Chet,
He's two, Shay Gilges, Alexander back to back League MVP
ten Cason Wallace thirteen, Isaiah Hartenstein fifteen, Mitchell aj Mitchell

(32:18):
the second round pick out UCSB twenty five members of
twenty eight when the.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Heat were really good and Lebron was there with Dwayne
Wade who said he was to seventy last night. That's
what Dwayne Wade said to seventy. Yeah, he said Lebron's
two seventy on the broadcast. I don't know if he
weighed him right before the game or what, but I
remember those heat teams. They were all about defense, all
about it and creating disruption and then him and Wade

(32:43):
would get moving and they were fun to watch.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
They talk about the length, the amount of length defensive
year they have. Yeah, the Thunder have seven guys in
the top fifty, Lou Dort at forty two being the
lowest on that list. Seven guys. Everyone's surprised about Minnesota.
They smoked the Lakers last year. They did the same
thing to the Nuggets without Anthony Edwards for a minute.

(33:07):
And what do they have. They got Rudy Gobert, third,
nas Reed Devincenzo all top twenty. Those are defensive teams.
They traded five first round picks for a guy that
can't score and Rudy Gobert because they wanted to be
a defensive team. Detroit went one of the worst teams
in basketball to the one seed in the East. I

(33:27):
mentioned a Sir Thompson top ten, Duran sixteen, Holland, Cade Cunningham,
Javonte Green, Toby all top fifty, Nicks four in the
top forty, Spurs four in the top forty, led by
arguably perhaps someone who's going to be the greatest defender
that ever played the game in Wembanyama. The Lakers one
guy in the top fifty, and it ain't who you think.

(33:47):
It's Doncic at forty eight.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
That's the only guy they have in the top fifty.
Minnesota's got four and the three in the top twenty,
and the thunder have in the top fifty. Four in
the top or I should say seven at the top
fifty four.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Five I had to choose two defenders on the Lakers,
I would want Vandalorian who's you know, finger fell Off,
and Marcus.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Smartus Smart he's fifty eighth, and I think in the
case of Smart, he's not playing enough minutes, so you know,
war is a cumulative stat oh the status, and so
it's possible that he's just that's why he's but but
Lebron last time I checked, plays a lot of minutes.
Sixty eighth on that list, sixty eighth for a Dwayne
Wade described two hundred and seventy pound unicorn that can

(34:34):
still scream down the court and dunk on dudes' heads
and be celebrated by the media that happens to be
assembled in that given moment, yet cannot exert the effort
on defense, and he is forty one. Fine, you got
to pick a side. But yeah, that's why you're not
a defensive team. Because he's got a guy out there

(34:56):
that wants to cherry pick on one end of the
floor and wants to put up triple doubles in games.
He's got no business still being on the floor for
minutes that he should be rest in his body. And
that's how you get to be a bad defensive team.
Personnel certainly has something to do with it. Chimurr is
not the greatest defender, Austin Reeves is not the greatest defender.
Lucas not the greatest, But the tone is set by

(35:17):
the cherry picker who's got more fast break points than
anybody else in the league, and it ain't because he's
so fleet a foot.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
And he's he costs fifty million dollars, right, So if
the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
They need to move on from that, Yeah, to put
defensive pieces around him makes no sense. To go out
and put defensive players around Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves. Okay, yeah,
that's what the Mavericks did with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic,
and they made the finals because they took those two guys,

(35:50):
and they're all right, let's get some athletic centers, let's
get some rim runners, and let's get some three and
D guys that we can put around them. These two
will be our offensive engine and at least three fifths
of the floor will have, if not elite, damn close
to it, elite defensive characteristics. And then that works.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Matt, what do you give to the theory that they
told when they took Luca Dantics to the Backstreet boys
at the sphere. And let's be honest, anybody takes you
to the Backstreet Boys at.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
The sphere, they know I'm important.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
I mean, yeah, it's gonna be You know, that's like
a Russini Vverabel level of commitment, right to love.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
I'm gonna name my first child after you. Yeah, and
it might be yours, but who knows.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Well, I don't know. But what do you give? Do
you give credence to that? They told Luca one more
year and then we're gonna do what you want.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
Yeah, I do because it lines up right. Why would
you give fifty million bucks to a guy that led
the league in fast break points? Who is cherry picking?
And even if it went great in the month of
March when they were fifteen and two before Luca and
Reeves went down in that same Oklahoma City Thunder game
and when he took the seat to these guys, and
they still weren't a great defensive team. And there's plenty

(37:04):
of players out there. I mean, heck, the guy we mentioned,
loud Dort, he's going to be a free agent. Hartenstein
gonna be a free agent if they if the club
turns down his twenty eight million bucks, which I don't
think they will because it's worked out so well for
the Thunder. But Mitchell Robinson of the Knicks, there's a
lot there are there. Marquee free agents out there. No
Peyton Wilson of the Nuggets if they don't want to
pay the tax kind of thing. But there's players that

(37:27):
you can build around Luca like they built around him
in Dallas and it took him to the finals. And
Lebron James does not look like one of those pieces
that makes a lot of sense, even though he can
still done, even though he can still shoot three.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
They know they don't mention defense in that song.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
There is and they could easily instead of shoot threes,
they could say Lebron plays some they could.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Would have rhymed, but they don't.

Speaker 4 (37:53):
They don't because he doesn't and they know he doesn't. Well,
we'll say, down here, you guys, throw me the football
pass as much.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
You're saying, if what you're saying is true, Matt, then
that means we're done with Lebron, that we've seen the
last of Bron and Bronny.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Like it is.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
It is crazy that he led the league in fast
break points at forty one years old, but he did.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
But you're saying it's over. What if he takes a discount?

Speaker 4 (38:21):
What did the kids say? I think I'm just manifesting. Okay,
he don't want to move his family. No, now, the
Clippers do have eighty million bucks in cap space, and
with the number five pick and a nice young talent
and Darius Garland Kawhi plays the three, could the Clippers
entice Lebron for a single season to play the four

(38:44):
and see if a.

Speaker 6 (38:47):
No.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
I remember when Kobe almost did it, Matt, you always
tell that story.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Jerry Wenley thought it was done. Yeah, Jerry West saved
the day.

Speaker 5 (38:57):
No one's gonna save the day this time your home
of Lebron and the Clippers.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
Let's go.

Speaker 5 (39:02):
Oh, come on, it's gonna be so great. Twok of
the Cat's gonna get a new caller. Adam gonna be
all excited.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
He might have to shave two of the cat.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
I heard Clipper Darrel is gonna be in a trash can.
And when Lebron walks by, is gonna pop out and go, come.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
On, Lembron, do it.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
I punched this this trash can.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
We'll be back with this story to give away to
a Story of the South and tickets to give.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Away Southern California's most listened to sports talk show This
Petro Money on Demand.

Speaker 4 (39:40):
Home of the Dodgers. Dodgers trying to snap a three
game losing straight tonight. Yoshiyamamoto on the mound. That'll be
a first pitch just after seven o'clock Dodgers on Decad six.
And how about you going to the game on Thursday
for Star Wars Night at the Dodgers Stadium. Yeah, we
are your home of the back to back World Series
champion Dodgers. Tickets come from us. Caller ten right now,

(40:01):
eight six six. And you know what, let's go call
her seventeen. Let's got a little bit of a sho
hal tani juju going here zero for five last night.
It's been an absolute nightmare. But if we say caller seventeen,
first time out of the gate here at eight six
six nine eighty seven two five seventy, surely that's exactly
what is needed to snap him out of his slump.

(40:21):
So caller seventeen, eight six six nine eighty seven two
five seven. You're going Thursday to Star Wars Night at
Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
Man, that's exciting, right for the winner. I think for everyone, well,
everybody likes to see somebody do something, all right, Matt,
this is just a terrible siege on the state of Mississippi.
What happened, Well, it all started when Vanity Fair wrote

(40:51):
a puff piece about Lane Kiff talking about why left
Old Miss and all the different things. We all know
why left Old Miss and it was for a lot
more money. That's but Lane Kiffin said to Vanity Fair,
part of the reason he left Old Miss for LSU
was Old missus struggle to distance itself from symbols like

(41:14):
the Confederate flag, Colonel Rebel, and the nickname Old Miss itself.
He was coaching there, Kiffin says, and while that was happening,
top recruits are tell him a coach, I really like you,
but my grandparents aren't letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi.

(41:36):
That doesn't come up when you say baton rouge Louisiana.
People were sitting here this weekend saying the campus's diversity
feels so great. It feels like there's no segregation. Since
the article came out yesterday, Lane Kiffin received some backlash
from the people of the South Right and then tried

(41:57):
to clarify what he said about Old Miss. I just
hope the comment comes across respectful to Old miss. There
are some things that I'm saying that are factual, they're
not shots. If it was okay to take their money
all those years. It is very interesting in the coaching

(42:20):
world that you would turn around and point out the
obvious that Old Miss has a very interesting relationship with
the history of the Antebellum South. But that is coming
from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I'm not sure we need to
get into the history of all these states that play
football at the South. And not to be outdone Matt.

(42:43):
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has dove into the fight, taking
a shot at Old Miss as well, but this maybe
a little I don't know.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
Well, I think you know, the Old Miss crowd certainly
takes their shots at Tech just with the t sip
and their horns down. So I'm sure that's used it
around the South.

Speaker 3 (43:05):
It's not just the Mississippi les all the Deep South
and horns down. Matt is equivalent to I think a
Class A felony in the SEC at this point. So
I'd be careful what you say.

Speaker 4 (43:20):
Your son's been expelled for what he did hornball game,
You'll never believe expelled, right, Steve Sarkisian took a.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
Shot at Old missus well, He believes Mississippi has lowered
its academic standards to make it more attractive for recruits
of the transfer portal.

Speaker 4 (43:36):
How can you lower something you don't have.

Speaker 3 (43:41):
Speaking of USA today, Sarkisian put Old Missus academic standards
on bath compared to Texas when it comes to recruiting
and the transfer portal. I mean, do you really need
to hold Texas up though? In this situation? You know
what I mean? Like when everybody's got a Lamborghini in
your parking lot and you're like, players play here because
they love Texas. It's not for the money.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
Yeah, UT is a fine academic institution, which it is misplaced.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
Of course, you may be a semester from graduating, but
you're going all the way back to fifty percent if
you play here and want a degree. But at Old
miss they'll take you at All you have to do
is take basket weaving. Oh you can get an Old
miss degree. I can't man, Not since Ulysses S. Grant

(44:25):
was so bored sitting outside of Vicksburg that he went
on a bender, has there been such a siege on
the proud state of Mississippi. Who remains at the bottom
of like the literacy rate and all that stuff. And
I don't think they need these attacks. They already lost
their coach.

Speaker 4 (44:43):
It is a rough go intellectually there for certain.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
You're not going to take away their chandeliers and their grove. Okay,
they just stopped playing Dixie a few years ago and
screaming the South will rise again. And now a guy
you paid millions and millions of dollars to it's going
to turn around at Vanity Fair and take those I
have him.

Speaker 5 (45:04):
Where's Eli manning to defend Ole Miss?

Speaker 3 (45:07):
Yeah? Where is Eli?

Speaker 5 (45:09):
I mean something to fire back?

Speaker 4 (45:10):
Where is he? He shacked up with the Yankees in
the big town? You're right and tinking he.

Speaker 3 (45:17):
Lies hanging out with Danny DeVito to Jersey. Mike's all right, well,
that's just very interesting if you wonder, you know, while
we figure out, you know, if USC has got enough
courage to play Notre Dame. Uh, that's what's going on
in the rest of I mean, I guess I could
see Old Miss being a non starter for some For
some people though, I could I could see that.

Speaker 4 (45:39):
You know, I don't necessarily like young ladies and tillian
dresses and young men and khakis and blue blazers with
Confederate flag lining inside their jackets. Call me crazy. In haste,
she married Will.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
The Weavers will return with more pet joson money on
