Speaker 1 (00:15):

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Did the same.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Oh yeah, oh, each one each.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
If you are afraid of loneliness, do not marry keep
us dam.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
Isn't there something else you're supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
It's a quote from Anton chekhof what do you want
for you?
Speaker 5 (00:53):
I mean, Vick's listening.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Vic did get back to me about the gongmy Yukes
and Sam and thank you Pete shaw So, I mean,
I'm sorry, it's just not what I say.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
We got Jonas Knox here instead of Matt money Smith
and instead of Don McClain, and he'll be around the
next couple of days to hold down the show and
collect his check, and.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
We me and Matt, Matt and I will not be
back and Kate's until Monday.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Ronnie, of course we'll be here to hold it down
the whole way. And we've also had help from zach
elk Our libbyan friend and fully functional employee Adham today,
but a big thank you to Ronnie. We had Gary
(01:52):
Klein on in the very first hour. In our final hour,
we will talk to the boxer Victor Or two. He's
the bare knuckles boxer who's gonna box it out at
the Novo theater in a bare knuckles way, and a
lot of these fight types here are pretty darn excited
(02:12):
about it. And that would be Jonas Knox, who loves
the fight game, and our own zach Elk, a Libyan fighter.
And a lot of people are are correcting and retracting.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Well not a lot of people, but.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Corrections and people are very difficult. Chun Ley, I believe,
is the name of the guy.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Chun Ley.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
Yeah, he was a fighter, right.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yeah, the guy that fought in blood Sport.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
I thought that was chong Lee because I think Chumley's
from the Chumley's from which.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
One where we're stars? Which one where we're referring to? No,
chong Lee?
Speaker 5 (02:51):
All right, correction, Kungley is an actual fighter in real life.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
What does he do?
Speaker 7 (03:00):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (03:00):
He fought in the UFC. He fought, uh.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
Remembered, Oh yeah, and he used to come out like
on a flying magic car. Like he really leaned into
like every single Arab or desert trope.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
And I loved it.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
Yeah, it's great.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Like he was like watching Shazam, like that old Genie
cartoon Aa Barbara, Like that guy was really whatever happened
to Prince Nassim Ahmed Was he next that that you're
gonna tell me? He wasn't even a prince, Like he
wasn't even part of any like weird aristocracy.
Speaker 8 (03:37):
Fifty two years old, okay Uh from the United Kingdom
was inducted into the International Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Okay so uh and he was five four, which is interesting.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Victor Ortiz is not that big of a guy, I
don't think.
Speaker 8 (03:53):
And yeah, he lost once and then it just the
the aura about him completely changed, Like there's just you know,
things things got different.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
A well, when you show up and you know, you
fly on a magic carpet and you have like a
bejeweled turbine like a monkey on your shoulder like a
man and all that, and then all of a sudden
you're on the ground like trying to pick your mouth, like.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
That happened to Mike Tyson.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Remember, like Mike Tyson was the most unstoppable and everybody's
still scared of Mike Tyson for good reason. But you
remember when he was groping for his mouthpiece with the glove, you.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Know, Buster Douglass in Tokyo.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
You know, I mean it does create a certain image
in one's mind, but real quick Jonas. I don't know
if you guys do a lot of college football in
the morning with Brady and LaVar there.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
His words the word of the day.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Today's word of the day is really, uh, can you
believe that the Michigan athletic director is still there? Ward Manual,
who's like a big fat guy, basically is defending himself
and his accomplishments and reiterating his desire to remain at Michigan. Now,
(05:10):
Michigan has had some success, I mean, hardball went undefeated.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
There were some backlash, a little to fall out there.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Yeah, and well the basketball coach, you know, just won
the title and they lost him. But they've also had
you know, their head coach threatened to kill himself in
the apartment of a fat white girl with a butter.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
Knife door dashing a Plan B to some war.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Dash and the band Plan B.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Everybody says they knew he was hooking up with the
fat white check. I mean, they had the Connor stallions.
Speaker 8 (05:40):
What about we were talking about this yesterday? What about
the quarterbacks? Was it Matt Weiss who who was found
guilty of hacking in too It's like like like private
videos and pictures of women like thirty three hundred different I've.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Always said this like this happened with USC to a
certain degree, but USC was just so indignant at the time.
And it's hard to even look at the NC DOUBLEA
and think what kind of governing body they are at
this point, Like it's all become so jumbled up. But
the truth is, the NC DOUBLEA or any of these schools,
they don't really want to investigate themselves because they because
(06:20):
they're gonna find something. It's like when you pull over
a car that's all tinted, there's a reason they pulled
it over. That's why they pulled you over. And now
they're gonna find all parts of other stuff. You know,
once they get into your program, they're gonna find all
kinds of crazy stuff.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
And Michigan, it's like, if.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
This is just the stuff that surfaced, imagine you know
what it's really been like. And there's all of us
that have lived in a college football program that tell
all kinds of stories like this. I just can't imagine
what the deal at Michigan is, you know, the last
ten years, like what some of the stuff that hasn't
come out is. And Ward Manual said this, I don't
need the credit for Michigan's success. But I'm not going
(07:01):
to stand idly by and let people say all this
happened despite Ward Manual person he went full third right, Well,
the war the border regions is meeting right now and
being like.
Speaker 9 (07:15):
You know, what should we do about this idiot? They
cause a lot of trouble. A white girls in the apartment.
Jaron went in there.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
You know, I mean, there's a bad scene.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
They're going to go to her apartment.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Anyways, some disease.
Speaker 8 (07:34):
It's like some crazy ass story he carved up. Brooks
was here on one of her beams before he left.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Now, the Regents met on Monday to discuss an investigation
into the culture of Michigan athletics, and that's going to
lead to a meeting later this week that could lead
to Manual's ouster. After forty years of hailing to the victors.
Speaker 8 (07:57):
Okay, the fact that that's public, that we know that
this is happening and there is discussions, what are they
gonna do come Friday?
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Determine. No, he's gonna stick around a little longer.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Let me meet you once more. What Ward Manuel said,
I don't need credit for Michigan's success Manuel told the
Michigan Insider. But I'm not gonna stand idly by and
let people say all this happened despite Ward Manual, which
(08:28):
reminds me of hon Speech and Animal House. You can
do what you want to us, but we will not
stand idly Bye. Well, the good name of the United
States of America is being his parents in this room.
Speaker 8 (08:41):
Do you it's just like the idea that this story
comes out, and so what is this investigation gonna reveal? Hey,
you know what, He'll be back come Saturday. Nothing to
see here, folks, Everything's gonna be fine. Let's get ready
for the season.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Here's me Ward Manual has always given me, maybe for
right or wrong, has always given me.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Mayor James T. Butts of Inglewood five.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
You can't have these billboards, Yes we can, Okay you can.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Here's my number.
Speaker 8 (09:13):
Number of the day, petros The number of the day
is one. The number of the day is one. Now
could have been three because you see Max Crosby of
the Las Vegas Raiders a one time Baltimore raven for
about an hour and a half before that fell through.
But Max Crosby was talking with somebody called Neon who
(09:35):
spells his name with a number three. N oh, yeah,
like a streamer type.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
And he was asked about the most.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Max Crosby's publishing team you'll ever guess that.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
We booked you.
Speaker 8 (09:48):
But Max Crosby was asked to name the most toxic,
the number one most toxic fan base in the NFL,
and he said this, who what the most like toxic
fan base?
Speaker 5 (09:57):
You would say?
Speaker 10 (09:58):
I think the Chargers low key charges to because they
got a smaller fan base. They started in San Diego,
so it's like more, it's more, you know, they're not
really an LA team, they're not from LA, so their
fans like feel like they need to be louder because
they don't have as many I don't have numbers like us,
So they're real toxic. And I respect it though, because
like if it pisses me off.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
You're fine, relaxed, you're fine.
Speaker 8 (10:27):
So apparently the Bolts and that fan base who people
have tried to downplay as well, you know, they're not
really kind of the.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
The renters of Sofi Stadium. They're not really the star
of the show.
Speaker 8 (10:39):
But apparently loud voices the number one most toxic fan
base that we.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Used to defend the Bolts all the time on the challenge.
Remember when you used to defend the Bolts all the
time and Brandon Staley? Are those days over?
Speaker 8 (10:55):
You know when you're kind of, you know, pushed into
doing something.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
But I don't think that's very professional. Here's the San
Diego Chargers fan yelling and screaming. You want to hear them?
Speaker 5 (11:06):
Yeah, what's your Chargers pride?
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Deep span on?
Speaker 11 (11:10):
Now?
Speaker 12 (11:10):
There's no more blood drive?
Speaker 1 (11:11):
Where who's gonna give the bites to the kids? All
the stuff that's been going down for Christmas and all that.
Who's gonna do that?
Speaker 11 (11:17):
Now?
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Who's gonna do that?
Speaker 11 (11:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (11:20):
Because I ain't fuddling to hell that you're gonna lose
a lot of your support in LA.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Don't want you what you're gonna do? Come back and
you try to come back to San Diego. I don't
think that's gonna happen. Man. You know, here's the San
Diego Chargers. That's what I know from my friends.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
I mean, I have dead ones, loved ones when they.
Speaker 6 (11:35):
Were passing away Argers right there in Imperial Beach, that
happy man, I made a song and save our boats
on the real that thinkspir world right now.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
I don't think you know that, I've had loved ones
that are passing away on Imperial Beach and right before
they pass away, their last.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Word Dodgers Chargers.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
I mean that is a pat Maybe Rosby's right, you
know that is you know, because right, I don't know
why you take your loved one.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
To die on the beach.
Speaker 8 (12:00):
Dogs, but especially I would also say this for Max Crosby.
The Chargers of SOFI and the Chargers of Qualcomm were
two different fan bases.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Okay, I don't know if.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
You've ever if you ever went to a Charger game,
what about them?
Speaker 1 (12:15):
What about the Charger fans of Home Depot Center?
Speaker 8 (12:17):
Between the two, Well, there was that, yeah, a part
time there, But I look at the Qualcom that was.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
A rough bunch.
Speaker 8 (12:25):
They remember somebody telling me that when the Raiders would
play there, there was a couple of years they stopped
serving alcohol because it was a problem.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
Like the Raiders and the Chargers fans would just throw down.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Just one of my favorite Qualcom things ever was I
mean because obviously San Diego State still plays there and
played there and they redid the stadium for San Diego
State and they're not doing well. I mean, San Diego State.
The football team is doing great. Sean Lewis is a
good coach. They're starting out in the Pac twelve. But
they don't fill that stadium.
Speaker 10 (12:53):
Are they.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
It's Snapdragon now, is it.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
It looks cool, it's great, but they don't fill enough.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
They priced people out, and of course they get the
Mexican soccer team in there and they don't price people out,
and they fill the whole thing and they shoot.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Fireworks and they're like, what do we do wrong.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
It's like, make it cheaper, you idiots, idiots make it cheaper,
but I do. But before they changed it, San Diego
State just played in you know, like the Chargers played
in it. And I remember years not years ago, but
a while back, but still internet era, all that Twitter
and all that. They played Stanford and there was a
(13:32):
tail It was early in the year, and there was
like a tailgate and there was like a camera on
the tailgate and you could see the Stanford side of
the tailgate was literally like set tables, chardonnay, charcooterie, cheese plates,
people in sweaters, like an old lady in Chanelle glasses,
you know, looking around, and then it panned over and
(13:56):
it was vape smoke, a bouncing Paula like.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
It was the most I have never seen.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
It was the best fan based contrast I had ever
seen it. It was a pan of a camera and
it was the stand if you know Stanford. I mean,
it was just perfect. And then the San Diego State
side literally looked like a war concert.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
You know, why can't we be Fred? Why can't we
be Fred?
Speaker 8 (14:23):
By the way, I was unaware of all the altercations
that the Stanford Tree has had.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Have you seen it?
Speaker 9 (14:29):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Yes, no, I know.
Speaker 8 (14:30):
I was not not familiar with the Stanford Tree being
Stanford Tree is volatile.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Yeah, really, Stanford band. The Tree is a part of
the band, and the band is volatile. They're always getting suspended,
always getting in trouble, barfing everywhere, drunk, yeah, breaking out.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
Yeah, that's the accepted the Stanford Tree. Could you drink?
Speaker 4 (14:54):
The Stanford fight song is all right now by the
band free like most schools.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Fight song is like her there. Fight song literally is
all right now.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
It's all like Stanford's a whole It's a whole thing.
But the Tree has its crazy legs dancing style right
that misses people off. The other thing people don't know
about the tree other than that it's drunk or on
some kind of synthetic drug.
Speaker 11 (15:25):
Is uh.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
If you are the tree that year you build the tree.
The tree is not like some cost you have to
build the tree to be the tree.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
You're going to be a seamstress.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Every free the tree is different because every year the
tree builds himself or herself. What right, So if you
want to get drunk and cost trouble, I mean, all right,
you built it.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
You're the tree, all right, So now I'm less judgmental.
Now I get it. If I've got to go to
all this trouble to.
Speaker 8 (15:56):
Go to Joanne like every once in a while, Yeah,
it's Michael's.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
It's all good here.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Hobby lobby. It's a palm tree. Sometimes it's a helt,
it's an elm. You know, it's a It's nice.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
What Zach you got.
Speaker 12 (16:09):
Some do the mascots share the secrets of how they
made it for the next one that's preceded.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
I think there is a little bit of a camaraderie
amongst trees.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Yeah, you know somebody who spent time as the rat
at Chuck E.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Cheese.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
Let me tell you something about those mascot costumes.
Speaker 9 (16:23):
They smell.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Yeah, we do not thank you.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Yeah, it's letting you know.
Speaker 11 (16:28):
This is the song of the day.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:33):
Legendary English synthesizer group Depeche Mode gives us our song
of the day called Never Let Me Down Again from
the Excellence nineteen eighty seven masterpiece music for the Masses,
Because joining the Petros and Money Show in for Matt
Smith is a man who enjoys him a little dark
wave classic depeche Mode bringing that eight oh five Rhythm

Vassie Report with David Vasse.
Speaker 4 (18:57):

on the Petro san Money Show, MLB Network, Spectrum Sports
Net LA and of course a M five seventy LA Sports,
your Dodger correspondent that you love to love.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
It is David Vasse. Hello Dave, how are you?
Speaker 7 (19:18):
I'm doing great, guys, looking forward to the All.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Star Game tonight.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Say hi to Jonas Dave and be nice.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Oh hey, Jonas, I'm Dave.
Speaker 7 (19:29):
An All Star game tonight's gonna watch.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
Don't be that way, hey, Dave, I was just telling
Petros not.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Here with Fred Dave. You don't have to be me I.
Speaker 8 (19:37):
Was telling I was telling Petros about the glory that
is the All Star Game. It's the it's the it's
the best, it's the best sports All Star game that
there is, and Petros was kind of down on it,
and I was a little bit disappointed by that.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
I'm not that interested on the Baseball All Star Game.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
I've just never been that much of a fan. Dave,
what are you? What are your expectations for it?
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (19:59):
What a surprise, it's too popular.
Speaker 13 (20:01):
You don't like.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
What I mean it is.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
I agree with Jonas, this is the best professional sports.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
I'll give you that.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
All Star game. I mean the Pro Bowl? What is it? Flag? Flag? Football?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Now?
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Is that what that is?
Speaker 5 (20:14):
And it's like doubled air and basketball?
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Those guys are so entitled. Yeah, they hate playing, but.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
This is the best you got because, you know, for
whatever reason, Baseball has figured it out where these guys
want to play in this game and uh, you know,
it's still the stars and they're not holding anything back.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Nobody that throws.
Speaker 7 (20:36):
One hundred miles an hour is only going to start
throwing seventy miles an hour. They kind of figured this
out back what back twenty five years ago when the
game ended in a tie. It was embarrassing for everybody involved.
Guys were leaving in the fifth inning after they were
taken out of the game. They got exposed for leaving
early in the game, and he just had.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
To go sideways right there.
Speaker 7 (21:00):
So ever since then, it feels like everybody feels that
responsibility to put on a good show and they do
it better than anybody else.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Is there, uh maybe this, maybe I'm wrong?
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Is there any weird underlying resentment this year because of
the pending CBA stuff and the commissioner and the player
and obviously these are the players you know, that are
the most important, the ones that are negotiating for the rest.
Does that play in at all this year, Dave, it
feels like a little bit.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (21:29):
You know, I checked in with a few people back
there whether or not players were cooperating more or less
with whatever the league had planned for them, and from
what the feedback I had gotten back, the players have.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Been very cooperative.
Speaker 7 (21:44):
They're not saying no to anything that they normally would
say yes too, So you know it. Today Commissioner Manford
at his press conference, he was asked about a lot
of different issues surrounding the CBA seems like the owners
are still very much digging in their heels to have
a salary cap. The players are very much against it.
(22:04):
So I think that you know, that will handle itself
after the season. But I think everybody's cooperated Petros with
a great spirit.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
During this All Star Game.
Speaker 8 (22:15):
I was thinking about this and we were kind of
mentioned earlier Dave, that it for the guys that are
at the All Star Game, how much of a break
is it really? Because you know, you end the first
half of the season quote unquote on Sunday, then you
fly to your destination for the All Star Game, you
got Monday obligations, you got Tuesday obligations, and all of
a sudden, the second half starts on Friday. So is
(22:36):
there is there are there some players I know, Zach
Wheeler for the Phillies said I don't want to be
the fifth option, and you know he's already been to
three so I can kind of get that. But are
there some players who kind of look at this as
maybe it's more beneficial to have that time off and
not be a part of this, as opposed to the
obligations in the middle of a long season when you
got to be back and ready to go Friday.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
You know what, that's a very NBA type of take
right there.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
You know, that's like that there's a lot of things
you could call me.
Speaker 7 (23:07):
At it the way that an NBA player would look
at it more than a Major League Baseball player looks
at it. It's a different celebratory vibe. Players like they've
made it where they go down the red carpet, they
get their suits, their wives, their kids, they get all
dressed up. Everybody loves it. The home run derby is
(23:27):
fun as well. You can leave if you don't want
to stay. You stay as long as you want. So
it's a it's a different, you know, kind of celebration.
Even a mental break for guys that are playing in it.
That's the biggest thing, at least from the Dodgers standpoint,
where you kind of just need a mental reset. And
I even asked Max Muncie that and he said, yeah,
(23:48):
even though I'm going there, it's going to be a
mental reset. So for the Dodgers, you know, there there
is no uh air to breathe for them really because
as they're going to be in Philly, they start the
second half with a long nine game road trip even
on their off day between Philly and going back to
(24:08):
New York to play the Mets. They're headed to the
White House for less than what twelve hours? So this
is a whirlwind of a time for everybody, with the
Dodgers starting, you know, yesterday, being in there at Philly,
with the guys that are in this game, and for
the coaching staff, and for Dave Roberts. I think the Dodgers,
you know, I don't know how this road trip is
(24:30):
going to go, considering they have to start on a
nine game East Coast swing and they're making a stop
over at the White House. That's a lot to ask
from these guys, no.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
David Massey is our guest, always very interesting. All Star
Games starts at five. It's on Fox, but the home
run derby.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Was on NET thankfully not on Netflix.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Yeah, what are your thoughts about that?
Speaker 9 (24:52):
Dave?
Speaker 4 (24:53):
I mean not that I love Chris Berman and his
Canadian Asprittin so much, but I mean we kind of
got you to him and the ESPN vibe I didn't.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
I don't know, man, what were your thoughts on the
whole derby?
Speaker 9 (25:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (25:06):
Not necessarily it had to be on ESPN. But putting
it on Netflix, I mean, you're making it really tough
for people to see it. I just don't think that
was the right play. It's kind of like putting their
games on Facebook Live or on Apple. Why would you
put the Home Run Derby ond Netflix. I mean, I
had a friend on a work trip in Chicago. He
(25:28):
went to a bar in Chicago, a great sports town.
They had the Summer League one instead of the Home
Run Derby. I mean, sports bars that's where people go
to congregate to watch these type of things, did not
have the Home Run Derby on And you know, it
just seemed like you made it really hard for people
to consume and exhibition, and.
Speaker 8 (25:51):
It didn't seem like it was promoted all that much, Like,
it didn't seem like there was a lot of run
either on social media or really anywhere to where. I guess,
you know, unless you were on watching you know, the
umpteenth Aaron Hernandez Murder documentary on Netflix, you saw it.
But there was a lot of people my brother included
he owns a sports bar, and they're like, I don't
is it on ESPN. No nobody knew where to find it,
(26:11):
So it felt like there was a lack of a
buzz and build for it.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
I mean, I get the money grab, but I mean,
come on, you've got to The game is at an
all time high in popularity and you just took one
of the great you know, events of All Star Week
away from a lot of people, and like you said,
they didn't promote it well enough to let people know
where it was going to be.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Poor job by Baseball on that, and.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
The announcers too, they sucked to Hun Dave.
Speaker 7 (26:41):
I mean it was a I mean I like Maddy
v and I thought Lauren Shahati did a better job
on the sidelines.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
I liked her style, but nobody saw it.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
Yes, Suh.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
What do you think of all the guys not playing
on this All Star Game date?
Speaker 7 (26:56):
I just think it's it's one of those years where
it's bad timing. You had schemes of Miserowski supposed to
face each other on Sunday. Misowski did not pitch in
that game because of arm fatigue. So it's just one
of those years where you don't have those guys playing.
And Otani and his leftknee, I mean, it's the biggest
(27:17):
star in the sport. You want Otani in this game.
It's unfortunate that is left knee is not cooperating. So
it's just one of those years. I wouldn't overreact and
change anything. It's just one of those years and everybody
wants to make these big statements and they want to
change everything.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
It's just one of.
Speaker 7 (27:37):
Those years where Yamamoto Misowski schemes pitched on Saturday and
Sunday and they and Otani is a bad knee. It's
just one of those unfortunate years. And honestly, yeah, this
game tonight is lacking the star power that it usually has.
But hopefully Freddie Freeman can do something that Mike Piazza
(27:59):
did thirty years ago in Philadelphia and when the World
Series or the All Star Game, MVP.
Speaker 8 (28:05):
Dave one quick on a quick one on Miserowski. So
I think, what is he throwing like six hundred and
seventy pitches over one hundred miles an hour as a starter,
which is just nuts, And you know he's throwing one
oh five, one oh six, whatever it is, and so
he's out with the arm fatigue. From people you've talked
to around baseball, are there is everybody kind of looking
at this going It's only a matter of time. It's
(28:26):
only a matter of time before this goes sideways, or
is he just the exception and not the rule to
what we've seen with arm issues with guys that throw
that hard or at least in the vicinity of that
hard over the past few years.
Speaker 7 (28:41):
If anybody tells you anything other than it's only a
matter of.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Time, they're lying.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
This is not sustainable to throw that hard and not
miss the start or avoid an arm injury.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
And let's just get it straight.
Speaker 7 (28:55):
And remind everybody that the velocity of pitches being thrown
to are being measured from the mound instead of thirty
years ago they used to be measured crossing home plates,
so the numbers are more eye popping because of that,
and that's what baseball wants. If you would have measured
the ball coming out of Nolan Ryan's hand, I'm sure
(29:16):
it would have been one oh five as well. But
Msowski's a lean, tall kid. He does have long reach extension,
so that makes it seem like the fastballs are getting
on you, even at a higher velocity. But yeah, I mean,
number one pitchers these days going max effort throwing that
(29:38):
hard get hurt and let alone a guy throwing one
hundred and five. I mean, you hope it's not the case,
but I mean in the back of your mind, you
gotta believe, like, yeah, it is only a matter of
time if he's going to continue to throw that hard
every single pitch. The arm and the body it's been
proven cannot sustain that.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
Well, time you see him, he'll be uh in the
Oval office, sitting with his arm around Max Mount.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
See.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Uh, it's Dave. It's David Vasse.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Enjoy the game and your family, Dave, and have a
great trip to New York. Thank you so much for
your support.
Speaker 7 (30:14):
The last couple of days, I'll be in the Yankee
Stadium for Petros.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Well, I said, New York. Okay, all right.
Speaker 7 (30:22):
So the next time you'll see me is at the
Oval office.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
All right by the way. Radio not get anywhere near.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
I don't know about that because I was bragging about you,
like saying, my friend Dave was going to get in
there because.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
They let let this be there.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Tell you what happened. I was talking to this guy.
I was like, is this president man? He lets everybody
in and and this guy was just kind of nodding
his head that I was talking to and then he
pulled out his phone and he showed me a picture
of him in the Oval office like three weeks ago,
and he was like, a he's a fireman and he
was with a California fireman delegation and they weren't supposed
(30:59):
to get in there, but Trump just walked.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
By and invited.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
That's great, so you know, I mean, I mean, but
he kind of ruined my story trying to brag about
Dave and he's like, I was there last month.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Kind of an is now we will Mike the fireman.
All right, have a great night, Dave.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
You hung up?
Speaker 8 (31:24):
I mean, if if since he's going there, he's got
to get a maga hat right on those for you.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
Black maga you think so the black one, black one,
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
That's a good one. That one, really business people.
Speaker 8 (31:36):
The old one, not the old red and white because
it's almost like the Fred Durst Yankees hat.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
You know, the red and white was the original.
Speaker 14 (31:44):
Many on all these off I hate I hate the
whole like, oh, you're going to go to the white hose, Yeah,
shut up, throw that Only idiots try to make something.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
What about the people that what about the people that
go to to look at Linkkan's pillow.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I sound like it's really yeah, across the street from
Forts Theater. Let smaller than I thought it would be
smaller bed. You know that's a big guy.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
Are we sure that's his blood?
Speaker 1 (32:12):
I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Okay, we're not sure it would like that that.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
That death scene is a tough read.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
I read all about it in the Civil War Shelby footbook.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
Maybe we'll get into it later.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Okay, we'll be back with Mark Petroson money on amy
LA's foot.
Speaker 12 (32:35):
You get me and money on your smart speaker. Just
say Alexa, play a M five seventy l A Sports
on iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Hey, everybody, welcome back.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
It's Petros send money on M five seventy l A Sports.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Happen to be with you. A big thank you to
Ronnie Fossio.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
At Ronnie Fossio, he will post the playlist. A lot
of Latinos very excited that we played Swedehead just a
moment ago. That is a real Latino anthem for our
Latino friends. We played some Libbyan music earlier for our producer. Today,
zach elk Jonas is wearing a white zombie pastro creepy
(33:28):
two thousand tour.
Speaker 8 (33:30):
Yeah, Electric Head Part one, Petros total dork. By the way,
does that count as as a guest on today's show?
Speaker 5 (33:37):
We just talked to Brady Quinn for the entire break.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Yeah, that was kind of weird. Matt, my radio partner's
never called me during a break.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
What's up?
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Yeah, I'll get a Brady Quinn drive by Pierre's.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
The waves, Matt, what's going on? How's Preston's career? Never
never call me really?
Speaker 1 (34:05):
How's it going?
Speaker 5 (34:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (34:09):
Yeah, Brady and I are real slappies like that voice
notes and grabs.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Toxic kates all the on the phone all the time.
But we don't really talk. We just call each other
and then this dead air.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
Well he tied.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
It sounds like, all right, it's time for some textiles.
I mean, I was surprised, fell little jealous. You know,
you guys are such close friends. But Buddy, and then
you know, Ronnie and you are all close friends. Ronnie
does like a whole song of the day dedicated to you,
like a bit.
Speaker 8 (34:40):
By the way, I've got Zach's email and cell phone
number now, so I'm in with the Muay Thai community,
so you can kiss my ass.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
Yeah, wait till Zach shows up at your house with
one of those Libby and jeeps the future with the
with the machine gun turret on the back.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
Jonahs and I are probably gonna spar with Victor te later.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yeah wait, man, I hope he punches your nuts off, don't.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
I'm the mirror fine.
Speaker 10 (35:02):
Brought to you by your so called Toyota dealers.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Knocked my Veneers out and now the Challenge season threes.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
It's Marsha, Louise and Dave Weese.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
It sounds like Ronnie is kissing ass to Jonas to
get another Christmas gift.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
My bad. I just learned that they're friends outside the show.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
Jeez, Johnny, come lately.
Speaker 7 (35:28):
It's like almost a year later.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
What do you want from me?
Speaker 13 (35:32):
You're the one that did the Word of the Day
all about it? Are you watching what's happening in the
all start walking out of a weird very bell. But
they're signing the Declaration of Independence?
Speaker 1 (35:43):
Oh they are? Yeah, Oh wow, look at those colonials.
Speaker 11 (35:46):
Look of this.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
That's a good colonial.
Speaker 8 (35:48):
They got an actual pen with a feather. Oh there's
a kar I like this, by the way, I do
like that. He's great pulling up a chair. I like
that Settle tribute.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
You know what, I don't see the Wanna maker organ.
But I like what. I like what I'm seeing.
Speaker 5 (36:10):
You won't see that at a dunk contest.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
Hey, Pete, I'm with my mom in the hospital listening,
and our nurse was a former hoover.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Oh okay, that's the gang uh.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
And I was telling her about what it was like
at USC from ninety nine to two thousand and three,
when the gangs were all around off campus before they
gentrified the housing area. Can you retell the story about
the trees, the roofs, and a car being boosted? She
needs a laugh. Okay, I got a couple of minutes
and I'll do it unless you want to watch these
(36:42):
guys sign.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
The Declaration of Independence with their finger and quill.
Speaker 8 (36:45):
Why nothing speaks colonial like Junior Camonaro signing the Declaration
of Independence.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
But you know what, I do appreciate that all the
Colonial band guys are white.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Oh no, they're not.
Speaker 9 (36:57):
I'm like.
Speaker 8 (37:01):
With their syphless two pays, what's the matter with them?
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Okay? The story goes as followed.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Back in the day at USC, there are a lot
of gangs, Latino gangs, black gangs, and they were you know,
intermixed in the student housing off campus, so if people live,
you know, a certain kind of place, and the gangs
didn't mess with people unless somebody, you know, was really
geeking it. And I remember once a drunk frat boy
t bone a football player who was backing out of
(37:32):
his apartment and on Menlo in the USC area off
of thirtieth Street, order to actually Menlo down there off
of Vermont. So he's backing out, t boned by a
drunk frat boy, football player, big, angry guy, not happy,
goes around drunk flat boys, you know, fiddling with his door,
opens the door, punches, the drunk frat boy knocks him out,
(37:55):
goes into this apartment.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Drunk frat boy.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Now, legs are in the car, body outside the car,
and most of the football team, you know, it is
in the apartment car. Some of the football guys inside
the apartment complex, you know, drinking forties or whatever, breaking laws.
And we watched a bunch of Mexican dudes and wife
beaters and dickies descend from the trees and the roofs
(38:20):
like ah.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
And systematically take everything the guy had, like strip his car.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
You know, take everything out of his pockets, his watch,
all the stuff in the car, the registration, the wheels,
and just left him just like we were like my god,
and like I remember the name of the gang and
all of it, and.
Speaker 5 (38:43):
I was just like, it's like seagulls a beat.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
It was amazing.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
Yeah, it was like watching like you know, it was
like watching like vultures, like carry on, like.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
On door come and like the car.
Speaker 5 (38:55):
Did think I ever wake up?
Speaker 4 (38:56):
He stirred, and then I didn't live there, So I
was like, all right, the show's over for me. But
it is certainly that that's a hoope. It brought a
smile to your face. Oh man, USC football was a
different time. Oh look, there's still sun of the declaration
Old John foot Penis, I mean, Hancock. We'll be back
(39:20):
with another hour or two of great sports talk with
Jonas Knox. We're having a great time with colonialism
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Stunts when every sort it once
