Speaker 3 (01:06):
Baseball don't want to Die It leads upteen bo back
in eighty three from.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
The Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth. First pitch seven to ten PM,
Dodgers White Sox. Dodgers on deck at six, but Clayton
Kershaw chasing strikeout number three thousand, three to be part
of that exclusive group. I would like to point something
out because I am incredibly distracted. I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
What happened?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
This is I believe, I believe it to be the
first time that that desert dog handed us a baton
before three o'clock. Yeah, he got out, No happen we
hit the Petrosen Money Show hit the air at two
fifty nine fifty six.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
It happens all the time. But sometimes Ronnie just adds.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Ronnie covers their ass, right he does? He does that,
all right? Yeah, yes he will at a minute here
or three.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
He's literally not to say that Ronnie's not a smart man,
but he's like Forrest Gump carrying them out of the
jungle to he said, he.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Added today, I had to add about ninety seconds. Ninety seconds.
This is the first time, Ronnie, like, this is the
first time that our open has hit before three o'clock.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Which is fair. I mean, for those of you listening
on the podcast, or maybe you're new to the beginning
of the show, what do you do? I'm just saying
Fred has a hard time finishing his show. It's a
real struggle, and he gets out real early. He pulls
out real early, like bigger and mccrackett.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Well, you know there is a time difference between Burbank
and the desert. That's a great point, Ronnie. No, that's
not the now a lot of time in the desert.
Everybody knows it's five minutes ahead there.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Well look, I hate, you know, on a celebratory day
like today, I hate to start that way. No, no,
you're not. No, no, I you know though, it's true
because and we have to even go further, we have
to even take it a step further.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
You go home, a couple of shooters, come back and
you're you're.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
A different lady. Yeah, you're a different lady. I think
that maybe some of the awkwardness between Ben Maller and
David Vassay on air LED. You know, because if you
have an awkward exchange, Matt, you know we've done this
a long time. If you have an awkward exchange with
a guest or the other guy, or or you know what,

(03:25):
somebody on your team, uh, you know, you want to
get out early, and you know you just want to
end the day live to find another day. And maybe
it had something to do with the awkward exchange between
Ben Maller and David vesay.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Oh, it wasn't Fred and Ben, it was Dave.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Well, I don't know. Maybe Ben was just angry that
he that he let Dave get after him like that
Fred did. I don't know. I mean that's why we
got asked Ronnie, you know, the chairman of the board.
He was there. We were in the prep zone with
Ben the intern, getting peppered about the nb A trade
talk on a day that we're supposed to be clear

(04:02):
on the deck for Kershaw.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Well, you know the introduction with David Vassa and Ben
Mallor and you know.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
That, Oh, well, look who it is.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Luke decided to come on, to come out of his
is a cave and you know, from the nice air
conditioned studio and come on, come.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
On during the day, and that's what Vas said.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Yeah, and then I think I think Ben, I think
Dave took offense to uh Ben's continue continued asking of
Blake Snell and the mere fact that Blake Snell has
only pitched two games. Why is he being celebrated?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
And they're hitting each other. So yeah, yet you know,
calling Ben a vampire overnight guy, and Ben calling Dave
a smell suck up.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
And you know, Dave and Snell have that special brotherly
relationship and you know, Dave's gonna defend Snell Zilla and
so you know, and uh, you know Ben was pursuing
and Dave wouldn't give it up.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Well how ugly did it get? I mean, you know
what I mean? Was it just like a radio thing,
like you know between Jonas and Dave, you know, like
a simple radio thing. Or did you feel like, wow,
this was awkward and that's why Fred catapulted himself off
the air so early.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
It wasn't any more awkward than it usually is between
Ben and vess A. All right, No, I think Fred
was just being Fred.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
It wasn't two guys giving each other the business. There
was a little bit of malice in the statements running
a little bit. Okay, all right, I can get uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, no, it sure can, especially between Ben Maller and
Dave Vessay, A long time bitterness that dates back back
back before the Petroson Money Show began. It's something from.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
The it's a Dodger thing right like when Dave started
doing it. I feel like it's when Dave started doing
the Dodgers and was when he and Ben.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Because Ben Mallor, and we all love Ben Mallor. We
get along fine. We don't have an issue with Ben.
Ben Mallor for many many years would either be at
the Clipper game and stay due there, do the game,
and then go and do his show overnight. So you know,
you leave the game at eleven o'clock and you go
do your overnight show. Same with the Dodgers. Hang out

(06:08):
at the Dodgers game, gets over, you know, ten thirty whatever,
and then you go and do the overnight show. So
that he was a staple, Yeah, stadiums and David Vassy
also a staple, and instead of supporting each other and
being happy for each other, they choose to attack each

(06:29):
other on air. But but this we've gone down a
rabbit hole of irrelevance, because that's not why Fred pull
vaulted out early. Apparently he just pull vaulted out early
because he's a batch.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
That's that's exactly right, That's exactly right, all right, two
fifty six and Ronnie had to add ninety seconds to
cover his ass. That's right, Fred, God damn it. Thanks.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Maybe Fred's driving up from the desert to get to
Dodger Stadium since it's a big game tonight of dog.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
You think he's gonna do a stand up for k
r At in the Desert.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Well, it's a big game, you know. Fred kind of
comes out for the big games.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Fredia watched the highlights in Brittany watched the game tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Getter Smasher. Wow, A lot of the bitterness is real.
But I don't know why he got out early. He
gets out early all the time, and it is a
point of contention here on the air.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
I'm sorry as supposed to be.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
I mean, the game starts at seven ten. Everybody knows that.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Like, hey, you can't. You can't leave work at two
fifty three, and then Ronnie's got to add ninety seconds
to get to three o'clock when the new shift starts.
I mean, you got to finish your shift.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
It's a big day. And I I don't know if
us dedicating our time and energy towards Fred in the Desert.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
No, it's it's it's misdirected, clearly.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Living his best life on our diamond time. I don't
think if it's worth bringing I don't know. No, it's
you know what it's he could really be phoning it in.
He could be on a yacht and be a multi coaster.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
So you know what that's like.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Oh I don't.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
As a matter of fact, I don't you know how
it is?

Speaker 3 (08:17):
You know how it is?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
I don't know you know what it's like. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
You know what it's like to be on a seven
billion dollar yacht.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
You yeah, not private chef, private tour guides, private meeting
with you know.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
What, posing for pictures and togas, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
I don't you know how it is? I don't you
do know? Not familiar.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Well, we know what it's like to get hit the
road and have a party, and a special Dodger party
like we're throwing today for Kershaw's three thousand strikeout, which
is likely to happen early. Stay on the radio on
the iHeart app and listen. But we're bringing the Dodger
flavors just Septembers tap Room and Eatery and Rancho Coop

(08:59):
right off the two ten Haven drinks food specials MODELO
and surf Side Vodka and iced Tea, and we got
a lot to give away, Matt, We have a lot
to offer. The Ie is a place of abundance and
we're bringing that and Dodger Radio straight to Rancho Coop.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Well, we offer ourselves.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
This is what I offer myself as tribute.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
September's tap Room, Rancho Cucamonga. We have done tour stops
in the coop before, they have gone swimmingly. We expect
this to be the same.

Speaker 6 (09:32):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Look, not everybody can walk out of there with a prize,
even though we will have ample prizes to give away.
But you can get your drinking food specials. They're pouring modello,
their parents serfs, they're pouring, and modello pairs perfectly with
surfside vodka and iced tea. Everybody knows that they're pouring
surfside vodka and iced tea. We're giving away Dodger tickets.
We're giving away a trip to an MGM resort location

(09:53):
in Vegas. The end of it, we're giving away five grand.
So all of those things are applicable. But it's the
same of community. It's the sense of civic pride representing
Rancho Cucamonga. When the Petros and Money show hops on
that two ten freeway, how will we get to the
two ten, I don't know, maybe the six oh five

(10:14):
and find our way to Haven Avenue for our three
hour show three to six pm on July eleventh. It's
the pride that goes in helping us execute a successful
second tour stop on our station.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
There's gonna be a war in the streets for parking. No,
it's gonna be great. And you know what I hear.
The guy that owns the Septembers also owns the Corkis
in the same lot. So if there's overflow like afterwards,
we can always go to Corky's.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
He's just gonna throw all the Corky's customers out. Gosh,
you gotta beat it. I love Corky. You gotta beat it.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Holy keep it going. You know, it's a super Curshaw
sack cleaning night tonight. We're gonna cleanse his sack so hard.
We're gonna forgive his ends of yesteryear's postseasons. An amazing career,
three thousand strikeouts. It was played by ownership because he
got so close last week in Denver, and then they

(11:11):
gave him the hook to set the stage for a
game tonight that otherwise could be less well attached.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
The game sorts of here for.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
A long time.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yeah, has, but that was a different Kershaw, wasn't it.
That was a more pissed off, hard edged Kershaw.

Speaker 8 (11:28):
That was before two pitched already and the three two
past ball is.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Swung on it. Now there's a lot of strikeouts there.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
I mean, you know it's three thousand. I mean we
we're gonna play them all. We're gonna say all their name.

Speaker 9 (11:42):
The three tooth pitch swung on and missed, and there
it is.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
The ball is.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Rolled over to the God.

Speaker 9 (11:48):
You dugout one thousand spike downs for a Clayton Kershaw.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
You know, Kershaw used to be pretty chapped back in
those days. You know, he had a chappy face. Finch.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
There's a curveball strike three audiosa rivadercee and for snubs
with twenty nine advanced eighteen strikeouts now and that's four
for Kershaw.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
And that's that overhand curveball.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
That just gi Kevin Kennedy. Yeah, Kershaw with fifteen hundred
strikeouts on that one, uh rivederci.

Speaker 10 (12:16):
And that is a two thousand strike out for Clayton Kershaw. Fir,
We're got eighteen hundred and thirty eight innings Clayton Kershaw
with two thousand Strikeoutter.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Charlie Steiner on the call, air Im gonna play them all,
all of them.

Speaker 11 (12:33):
Curveball for his third strikeout of the night and strike
out number twenty five hundred in Clayton Kershaw's career.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
Gosh, WIVO, congratulations Clayton. That is quite an accomplishment.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yeah, ORL, So, who's going to be on the call tonight?

Speaker 5 (12:48):
It's a who's who radio or TV man.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Well, obviously Joe Davis isn't going to miss strike out
three thousand tonight. He is missing.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Yeah, I got it with three thousand and Nelly and ORL,
which gives us Neverett and Monday.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Is that right?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
That's right. Kershaw used to be real chappy when he
was getting the thousand, like when he had five hundred
chapped one thousand chap chooped fastball bout him got him
fifteen hundred pretty chapped.

Speaker 8 (13:25):
One and two pitch. There's a curveball, strike three audiosa
riveder chain audios.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
That's that overhand curveball that hitters just don't look for.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Gas put on a fresh pot for that one's again.

Speaker 6 (13:38):
That's that overhand curveball that hitters just don't look for.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
And I love doing the Games of the Year, rig
and Mo. We just got a special chemistry.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
What I'm trying to say is today's Kershaw, the three
thousand strikeout Kershaw is a man who's a lot less
chapped than the ass that is.

Speaker 10 (13:56):
The two thousand strikeout for Clayton Kershaw. That guy has
pretty eighteen hundred and thirty eight innings, Clayton Kershaw with
two thousand strikeouts.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
You know, last night, Oral Hersheiser's telling stories that Allen
told him about Clayton Kershaw and how he is on
a start day and how their life doesn't stop and
he needs to hear me, And now I can see it.
He's kind of chatted.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Oh, but today's a special.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Day, Today's Kershaw, this fleet stout, it will be a
special game. The three thousand strikeout Kershaw is like the
Kershaw that's out there playing cats with his kid.

Speaker 12 (14:41):
Here's the kick, the three to two pitch strike three
cold got him on the outside corner with a snider
career strikeout two thousand, nine hundred and ninety seven.

Speaker 9 (14:53):
He's three away, Is that right?

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Yeah? The Kershaw of today is a Kershaw that has
been forgiven shiny happy people. Oh, like the like the
whose song her Man's been gone, You are forgiven Kershaw's.

Speaker 9 (15:10):
Brewing more down as she's Santa Barbara.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
He was a pitcher cow then down he goes again.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Kershaw is a kinder, gentler Kershaw an appreciated Kershaw, a
Kershaw who's blemishes in the postseason have all but been forgotten.
The slump shoulders of Don Martin have straightened up. He

(15:39):
walks like a man. The Dodgers won their championship.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Why we're playing? We go together from Greece. It's beautiful.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Oh, because we're a baseball show, Matt and it's a
baseball theme.

Speaker 5 (15:54):
Strikeouts and Kershaw just go together, don't they.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
There you go, Yeah, Cade's getting.

Speaker 9 (15:59):
Smith going with the hand signs tonight, no pitch com
for Kershaw. Here's an O two pitch breaking ball cut
on the miss strike three. That is strikeout number one
for Kershaw career two thousand and nine hundred and eighty nine.
He's got eleven to go, eleven to go, guys?

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Is that right? No, it's three to go, three to go.
All he needs is three and I could get in
the first inning.

Speaker 12 (16:24):
There's gonna keep you a three to two pitch strike
three call got him on the outside corner with a
slider all right, career strike out.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Two thousand, nine hundred and ninety seven. He's three away.
I never wanted it so bad, right, he wanted it
in Colorado that night.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
He's gonna get it tonight.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
He is gonna get it tonight.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
You're gonna get it.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
The game starts a seven to ten started seven ten
here for a long time it does.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
What if you're all excited for that call, If you're
never it, you're all revved up, you may have, you know,
lifted a few lines from David Vasse that you won't
use to credit him later. Let's say you're ready.

Speaker 9 (17:04):
To go, Is that right?

Speaker 3 (17:06):
No? Yeah, you open your mouth to call that three
thousand strikeout, and like a wasp or a bee or
something flies in there, and Monday's got to take over
and be like a Rivener chie audios.

Speaker 8 (17:22):
There's a curveball strike three audios or air change. It's
that overhand curveball that hitters just don't look for.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
I don't look for it. I haven't looked for it.
Do you think it about it? Do you think that
three thousand strikeout from the kinder gentler forgiven kershop will
be that that big Balloony curve.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Well, it's it's funny you mentioned, just like his disposition
and how it's changed, because I do think the kers
shop ten years ago would tell the Dodgers, do not
stop the game. When I get my three thousand strikeout,
let me finish the inning. I'm going back to the
dog eye. And if you want me to have a
curtain call, fine, but don't you dare stop the game

(18:04):
and make a big deal out of it in the
middle of an inning. If that's how it works out. Yeah,
and I expect them to do. Mate.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Spot on Matt Bingo. The chapped Kershaw of yesteryear has
all but been forgotten. The inept Kershaw of the postseason
that we have seen, not every time but many times,
has been forgiven and forgotten. Now he's a guy out
there with a t with his son Angie looking on

(18:38):
from the stands. Everybody with warm, fuzzy feelings, like you said,
shiny happy people laughing, shiny happy people hold a.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Hand, and we're going to be part of it. Well,
not personally, they said, no. The FM station took our
tickets the LA Sports Suite, so we can't go.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah, we're not going to. Actually, somebody asked me at
the yoga studio today, like, I know you're always there
for the big games. Are you going tonight? I was like, why,
who asked you?

Speaker 2 (19:06):
No, we were supposed to, but then we were told
we can't go because the FM's habit.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Don't worry. Check out Valentine's Instagram. You'll get good pictures tonight.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
I guess yeah, Oh God, I love Valentine market. He
has to be a he has to be a detective.
Is you think Mark and Cam are gonna be there?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
I think they're doing it. I think that's Mark and
Kim special man.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
It might be twenty thirty five if I when I
sit in the suite for it, gave again twenty five.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Is that Bill Handle in the suite?

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Yeah? I love it.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
No, it's that Johnny guy who wears a tank top
to do his KFI. Oh, Johnny window, Johnny Wendell. Oh
that's Johnny window.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
To see in the bathroom, Johnny with no shoes on.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Its joy.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
And that's the top, big deal, big deal.

Speaker 6 (19:56):
I'm don't forget.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
He was barefoot too, that's what That's.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
What Ronnie's on the Fred Rugan delay.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Yeah, yeah, that's him.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Where Ronnie Well it's a big day for baseball, a
big day for Dodger fans. Clayton Kershaw, in all seriousness,
connects many eras he connects us with all the guys
like matten Camp and Andre Ethier who made up the
name David Valet. He connects Ben Scully as you heard

(20:28):
Vin Scully's brilliant calls. He connects ownership between the ineptima
courts to the abundance of today with the Guggenheim group
that owns the Dodgers and Mark Walter. Clayton Kershaw is
a symbol of our history, Matt, And he's not always

(20:51):
been is He's not always been the nicest guy. He
used to be real chapped. But now like that whose
song all is for, Hoogiven, Hoogiven, It's.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Gonna be a special night if you're fortunate enough like
the Mark and Kim Show from Coast one to three
point five to be at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Kind of love that show, though, you know what I mean. Look,
it's their time, it's summertime. They're playing Sailing by Christopher
Cross and.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
We can't compete, No, we can't. Look and they think
all we have.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Is a three thousand strikeout for Clayton Kershaw. That's all
we have.

Speaker 11 (21:21):
I mean curveball for his third strikeout of the night
and strike out number twenty five hundred in Clayton Kershaw's career.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
Congratulations Clayton, that is quite an accomplishment.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, here's the first name. Here's the first name there
to show that. Hey, I'm talking straight to him now.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
In Dave Weese's defense, you know, they say's the Secretary series,
it's the White Sox. Well, that's why Dodger we don't
have anything.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Unfortunately, that's why he got the hook in Colorado, right,
That's why the Dodgers gave him the hook. They're like,
how do we make this hot ticket with the lowly
White Sox covered to town after we had to you know,
had the sorry ass Rockies on our temper.

Speaker 5 (22:07):
It's Yamamoto bobblehead night also to night. It's a built
in audience.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Yeah, they knew the White Sox they'd be struggling, struggling,
so they doubled up the seats. They doubled up I
know somebody, right of course. Yeah, it is absolutely gentlemen. Yeah,
i'd be there for history.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
You went last night?

Speaker 2 (22:28):
I did. I got that fancy Hawaiian sure too. Oh yeah,
you doubled up.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Yeah, I'm doubling up and I'm going to the game
on Saturday as well against those cheeting astros.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Is it like a Is it like a wren Spooner
Hawaiian or like a magnum pi Hawaiian sort of.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
Like a magnum pi Hawaiian shirt with the palm trees
and Dodger player faces on it. Not very colorful, right, No,
it's just a blue and white yeah, with the King's
Hawaiian logo on the side of the right the right sleeve.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
You got a patch on the right sleeve.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
Got to have that excellent poofy bread. So are we
gonna as a naxte about his feud with Ben Maller
And then later in the show, the Dodger pr God
bless him? Was it? Juan from San Pedro got us
Justin Robleski, the Great Young Pitcher and we are your
Great Young Pitcher Show of Record, And we talked to

(23:18):
all these guys when they get hurt, before they get hurt.
After they get hurt, Man, wow, man freaked out. But Robleski,
He's gonna get through clean. We could feel it just
like our friend Casparius.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
By the way, at Conway Show on Instagram. If you
want to see Skoolfush eating the sweet.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Tonight, Oh, it's gonna be that. I can see that.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
Yeah, just all the howk dogs right in front of them.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Poor Kim's not going to get anything the fush you
canna eat at all. Imagine, by the way, again, I'm
sorry that I'm wildly distracted today.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Imagine you started out the thing about fred men. We
had to get into Kershawn, Now what are you gonna do?

Speaker 2 (23:54):
A foot soldier for kt LA and they're like, hey,
we got twenty injured in an overturned bus and we
need you on site. Who h let's go right. And
then it's in Lancaster. Excuse me, Yeah it's in Lancaster.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Well, Matt, I mean, if you're a foot soldier, you
live to be on the road. Yeah, you know, anything
beats the doing the report on the La River from
the burbank over past two blocks from where you're stationed.
But yeah, Lancaster is quite fun.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Overturn bus twenty injured, Oh my god, you know how
many eyeballs are going to be on this. I'm on it.
It's in Lancaster.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Hey, Matt, you know stuff happens in Lancaster too. People
listen to the Peterson Money Show in Lancaster. Steve Hartman
and Vince Neil fight a bunch of locals in Lancaster.
Antelope Valley wins high school championships.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
In Lancaster, Palmdale, Lancaster.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
What about the paracleets try, Yeah it was. Now he's
back at a Saint Francis or alimated he's at Saint Francis.
But yes, that route gets us to the break and

(25:15):
gets us to David Vasse next on a historic night
at Dodger Stadium. We will also talk about the previous
contentiousness with the midday show.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
James starts of seven ten, sort of seven ten. Here
for a long.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Time I missed Chappie Kershaw.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
We've made it even easier to take LA Sports with
you this summer. Make AM five to seventy or your
favorite AM five seventy LA Sports podcast a preset on
the iHeartRadio app using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto road
trip all summer with LA Sports.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Friday July eleventh, three to six pm and Rancho cucamong
Is the second stop of the Petrosen Money Summer Tour.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
I have posted a photograph on the Petrasen money x
account which is a picture of our own Ronnie Fossio.
Happy Ronnie because he's going to three Dodger games and
four nights. I believe he'll be there tonight. He was
there last night. I posted the selfie of Ronnie in

(26:23):
the Hawaiian shirt giveaway from King's Hawaiian And maybe we
can even post a picture of him tomorrow holding up
the Yoshi Yamamoto bobblehead that is built in tonight for
the huge occasion that we all expect to be extremely celebratory,

(26:47):
Clayton Kershaw's three thousand strikeout. Clayton Kershaw's Dodger career connects
many many things through many many years, and tonight is
the night for that beautiful celebration. So we are looking
forward to talking to Justin Robleski in our final hour.

(27:08):
But right now, live at the stadium, it's David Basse,
the Dodger.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
With an inside look at the Dodgers. This is the
Vass Report with David Vasse.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Nobody's deeper inside the Dodgers than David Vasse. He is
like a stint in their heart, Uh, Dave? Overall, what's
the vibe like out there for the big Kershaw event?

Speaker 13 (27:36):
Well, Steve Hartman's here, so you know it's a big event.
When he was already signed to rattle off all these
historical numbers, and I had to go inside and I
was like, hey, hey Hartman, hold it up right there.
I got to go inside. We'll continue this hour long
dissertation on historical context in a minute.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Dave is someone who's very close with Clayton, has been
with him pretty much his whole career. What do you like?
Do you think this stuff means like a lot to him?
A little to him? How big of a deal is
this for Clayton?

Speaker 13 (28:12):
Well, I remember interviewing him two springs ago and asking
him how much this meant to him and whether or
not that was a driving force to come back and pitch,
and he completely denied it. And then he came out
this year and said I was lying when I said that.
It does mean Yeah, he lied, he lied, you lied, Yes,

(28:35):
I lied. Anyway, it does mean a lot to him.
Freddie Freeman's been reminding him since he got to about
eighteen strikeouts away how far he is after every start
and I mean, now that he's on the doorstep three
strikeouts away, he's very aware, and yesterday he was back
to closed off. Kershaw just didn't want to really talk

(28:56):
to anybody, And certainly it's focused because he doesn't want
to be caught up in the moment. He's not an
emotional guy and he doesn't want to allow himself to
get to that point. So doing it here, I think
it means a lot. In fact, I know it means
a lot to him.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
You know, Dave, your relationship with Kershaw has you know,
kind of been a microcosm of the entire media's relationship
with Kershaw over the years. As he's gotten older and
he's got his kids running around out there and everybody's
gotten to know his family, how has that dynamic change
over the years from the guy you remember when you

(29:34):
first got the job, traveling around and being around the Dodgers.

Speaker 13 (29:38):
Yeah, Pete Kershaw he was. He was tough at times
to deal with and just didn't want to give away
anything before or after games. But with fatherhood and just
with father time, it's softened him. And I think as
he has gotten older, he has become more reflective. Yven,

(30:00):
quite honestly, things changed after the Dodgers won the World
Series in twenty twenty because there was a big burden
lifted off his shoulders after that championship. And I think
that's more than anything, that's where it started to soften
the most with him to be able not to be
as defensive or combative or closed off because he got

(30:21):
that off off his shoulders. And now it's a two
time World Series champion. He wants to be part of
it this year. That's the reason why he came back
and also to chase this big time milestone. In fact,
I call Randy Johnson called me today the Big Unit.
Paul was making lunch for the kids and Randy Johnson
is going to join us next week on the show,

(30:42):
and he's very aware that Kershaw is going to join
him in the three thousand strikeout club and is very
excited for him as well.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Randy Johnson, I think second on that list to Nolan Ryan,
of course on the top. But Dave, like you appreciate
baseball well of all the sports, numbers matter more in
this one. You play one hundred and sixty two games,
it's a numbers game, where like whether it's three thousand,

(31:11):
hits five, hundred home runs, the career milestones, like, where
do we put three thousand strikeouts, because my god, only
twenty people in the history of the game.

Speaker 13 (31:23):
Yeah right, it's more elite than the five hundred home
run club. It's a lot more exclusive, that's for sure.
That's the epitome of solidifying your Hall of Fame credentials
to get three thousand strikeouts. And here's the kicker, Matt.
You look at the number of innings that a lot
of these pitchers have pitched to get three thousand strikeouts.

(31:46):
Kershaw's doing it quicker than all but a couple. I mean,
his strikeouts per nine are right up there in the
top five of all time great pitchers. Nolan Ryan has
the best strikeouts per nine ratio, but Kershaw's fourth all
time and has only pitched twenty seven hundred innings and
is at three thousand strikeouts. So I think it's one

(32:09):
thing to say he's going to get three thousand strikeouts.
Is it's another thing to put him in the best
of the best, considering it hasn't taken him as many
innings as other great pitchers to get this milestone.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
David Vasse joining us on AM five seventy LA Sports
brought to you by Service Titan dot Com. He's got
on the pregame show, Drew but Terra the guest that
he's a catching coach for the White Sox but caught
Kershaw five times in twenty fourteen during that MVP season.
Dave interesting perspective from that guy.

Speaker 13 (32:46):
Yeah, I saw him yesterday and he was so excited
that the calendar fell where it is because he's really
excited to be here, to be able to be with
the White Sox on a night that could be big
for Kershaw and a lot of the guys on the
White Sox are looking at him sideways. Why are you
so excited? Why do you want this to happen against us?

(33:07):
And he said, look, you can be part of history.
You could be here for history and still win the game.
Just because he gets three or four or five strikeouts
doesn't mean that we can't win the game. So we
could have it both ways. But look do you te
it cott Josh Beckett's no hitter the week before Kershaw's
career no only career no hitter in twenty fourteen, So

(33:29):
I mean he saw Kershaw in his prime, even though
he only caught him five times.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Remember service Titan Southern California commercial and residential contractors using
service Titan software typically see a seventeen percent increase in
revenue in their first two years. Earn more visit servicetitan
dot com. Individual results may vary. That is how David
Vesse shows up here on the petro So Money Show, deVie,
I was just kind of thinking of milestones and you
were there for show, hey, stealing you know, fifty bases

(33:58):
to go with the home run? Like, what is what
is the atmosphere like with these with these players that
have been around so much greatness when something like this happens,
Like what will the atmosphere be like on the field
before the game, in the dugout when it happens? Are
they still like kids that get to be around this
incredibly exclusive club and holy cow, I've got a ticket
to this.

Speaker 9 (34:20):
For sure.

Speaker 13 (34:20):
A lot of the younger guys feel that way. But
I spoke to keyk Hernandez in Denver on the pregame show,
and guys like him and Muncy and Freddie Freeman, it's
like a little bit more of a reverent type of
excitement because they've been around him for so long. Freddie
face Kershaw and kind of is the position player version

(34:42):
of Kershaw in a lot of ways. So guys like
Keyk said that, you know, basically, this means so much because,
in key K's words, Kershaw has been an inspiration to
him and to other players just by leading by example
with his work ethics. So the guys have been teammates
with him, even a guy like Terra who's only teammates

(35:03):
with him for a season plus, they respect the heck
out of him because he's put so much work and
has pitched hurt, not feeling great. And that's the reason
why there's so much reverence and respect and appreciation for
what we may see tonight, Dave.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
On a scale of one to ten, How contentious did
it get today? With Ben Maller from Fox Sports Radio, Oh, Ken.

Speaker 13 (35:28):
Right away, first minute at tacking snell Villa didn't smell.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Didn't he pitch today? I mean that was good for snail.

Speaker 13 (35:37):
Villa, right exactly. Ben Maller asked me, what's going on
with snell Villa?

Speaker 3 (35:42):
What's he doing?

Speaker 13 (35:43):
I said, oh, uh, he's actually gonna throw live BP
today And then all of a sudden he had had
a meltdown that He's only thrown two times, and this
is my thing. It won't mean anything unless Blake Snell
delivers in October. Similar to Yamamoto getting that big contract
and missing three months of last year's regular season and

(36:04):
then dominating in the postseason, everybody completely forgot about him
and what happened in the regular season. So that's what
Snell's going to have to do to make people forget
him missing this much time.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
It's gonna be an awesome atmosphere at Dodger Stadium tonight
when they stop the game to celebrate the three thousand strikeouts,
certainly something you'd want to be at Dodger Stadium to
witness firsthand. David Vessey will have the opportunity to do that,
like so many other great moments he's had the opportunity
to witness live and in person at these Dodgers regularly
making history through this era of Dodger Baseball. Dave, we

(36:39):
appreciated have fun out there tonight.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
Thanks.

Speaker 13 (36:42):
I got the family tickets to witness history as well,
so I told my wife, bring the kids. They got
to be here for this.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
My wife pretty much, wow, pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Everybody every year, not us, Everybody enjoying the night the

Speaker 3 (37:04):
Well, Cruise is pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
He's into the Dodgers and I don't know if you.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Know, but Menace the stuff he does on social media, nobody's.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Bad, nobody's better. Men is gonna be there.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
It's gonna be cool. Yeah, Ronnie's gonna be there. Kate's

Speaker 6 (37:33):
Really like?

Speaker 2 (37:33):

Speaker 5 (40:43):
Yeah, they got like three huge pizzas down the hall.
They got plates out, they got like streamers out for
Scaffous's birthday.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
Is having the time of his life. Then they're all.

Speaker 5 (40:53):
Gonna go to the suite and just kind of eat

What did you get some pizza? Did they invite We
had hot dog days? Theafush had three, right, Did they
invite you down for pizza?

Speaker 5 (41:04):
I walked by twice. I did a drive by, and
I was like, oh, cool pizza waiting for the old
Summit'stafoush's birthday. No, I just got a yeah, kept on
walking and I did a second drive away and I
saw Conway. I was like, hey, ding dog pizza here.
He's like oh yeah, and didn't say any other word.

Speaker 4 (41:23):
Up, how about this guy is a third drive by.
I just walked by coming back from the restroom, and
I saw the pizzas and I saw Sharon and Conway
as well, you know, said hey, Sharon, how's it going?

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Oh you got pizza here?

Speaker 2 (41:33):
He says, yep.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
They don't get hot dog day. They don't get any
of our hot dog We're out next out that's hot yeah, no,

They got good pizza. That's why I think it's dinos.
Damn it, they got real good pizza. Damn it, sons

Speaker 2 (42:01):
Nine, brought to you by your so called Toyota dealers.
We make it easy.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Rarely is it a two way street, Matt, Rarely is
it a two way street?

Speaker 2 (42:10):
You know?

Speaker 3 (42:11):
All we can if I wants to take, take, take,
but they don't want to give. What are they willing
to give?

Speaker 2 (42:16):
We give ourselves. We're benevolent. We give ourselves to this station,
of this cluster, to everybody on the fourth floor. What
do we ask in return? Nothing? But if you don't
give us something, we're gonna bite your ass on the
air they ate.

Speaker 3 (42:29):
They swallowed Kates's whole birthday cake holes, that's true. Bit
out the candles still lit. I have some texts. This
is from a listener who says, I'm currently at the
September's in Rancho Kook. I live in Long Beach, but
happen to be in the area. It's in a huge
shopping center, so plenty of parking. Vanessa Bear Lopez reporting,

(42:53):
Thank you, Vanessa, Vanessa Lopez, that's great.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
You know what, that's an important message, Vanessa, And we
need to stay on message. Even though there are many
businesses that share that parking lot, it is still a
massive parking lot with ample parking available. Do not sweat
over that.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Uh, this was unfortunate. I got a call from Tim
Kates last night basically killing this whole idea, saying, and
I quote, we're not Kylie in booms, you dumbass. Who
do you think you are with your big, weird BW
fetish and so I guess we're not gonna do but
this tech says big racks breaking packs. Thank you, but

(43:33):
we're not doing it.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
We're not doing it. Apparently not a sponsor.

Speaker 3 (43:37):
Kates didn't want it. Kates didn't want it. I guess
the people at Burbank Sports Cards found it to be
not classy, tacky in fact, like the Bezos wedding. Is
the comparison they made.

Speaker 2 (43:48):
Well, I mean, what if we take on the rat
I sent you.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
I sent you big T cards on Twitter?

Speaker 2 (43:53):
Man, did I saw that now? Does anybody have big
rats breaking packs?

Speaker 6 (43:59):
Do we know?

Speaker 2 (43:59):
Because we might want to, you know, see if we
could hire someone launch the channel big Rock.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
Do you think it could become like a staple of
the show, Like coming up today, we got down the
show and we got big racks breaking packs. They dude,
we're on YouTube live.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
It's going to become our primary source of income. Big
racks breaking packs? You kidding me? I mean, this is it.
We finally stepped Look, we've stepped in a lot of
piles of poop, but this is the one that could
really make us the money.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
A lot of people think we make money calling football game,
but really it's the racks and packs really ringing in
the radio show is just an adventure?

Speaker 7 (44:36):
Now?

Speaker 3 (44:37):
Uh? Is this what it's come to? PTE La is
out tonight and where will you bitches be La was out?
You'll be at the Beatoff Bunker unable to watch it
on s N LA La Was Out. Smith will be
just in his trousers walking around the beach communities of
North Orange County, unsuspecting pets. Loaded Kate's will be playing

(45:01):
you Gee Oh cards with calling in the studio. Five
seventy equals boxed out. You're right, I don't want to
stop my crying.

Speaker 2 (45:13):
I'm upsetting telling you man, big racks breaking packs.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
You didn't seem very into it yesterday, and now all
of a sudden you want your facing that cleavage motor
boating away.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
Yes, yes I do.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
You wanted no part of it yesterday, but today the
moon's different when you got your horn dog on.

Speaker 6 (45:31):
I know.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
I think what happened was you sent me that that
Twitter profile of uh, and I was like, you know
what cards?

Speaker 6 (45:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (45:38):
I was like, you know what this is? This is
this could work, and then we could have like an offshoot,
like we start with big racks breaking packs, and then
we come with like uh backyards pulling cards and it's.

Speaker 13 (45:50):
All jazz.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
Back burgers and we're like sliding the cards through the
butt crack like it's a credit card machine. We're gonna make.

Speaker 3 (45:59):
So much more. This is stupidest thing. It was something
to find big titty cards. That was come then that's fine.
Come on, we say anything titty committee all the time.

Speaker 2 (46:12):
You know what, I think we are in safe harbor action.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Yeah, we're fine. We'll be right back with your word
number song of the day. Uh huh huh
