Speaker 1 (00:01):
On air at AM five to seventy LA Sports and
I'm demand on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is the Petrosen Money Show.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
You are one of the kind, hosted by Petros Papaday
guests left school after sixth grade. Look at them and
the voice of the Bolts Matt money Smith. The answer
is on money. There is nothing you can do. You
know it's coming. This is the Petrosend Money Show.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
On the home of your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Make us your top preset on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Petro Send Money. Harsh and objectionable noise.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Me you Petro saying Money. Am five to seven LA
Sports Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio App. No Dodger Baseball
from the Gallpin Ford Broadcast booth today, but we will
be on a flex alert the rest of the week.
Dodgers in Pittsburgh for free alert and then they will
make their way to Chicago to take on the White
(01:00):
Sox on the South Side. So today a full four
hour show on their day off, their travel day after
dropping the series finale to the Angels yesterday. And then
we'll get rolling at one o'clock tomorrow for a one
to two thirty show on a super flex thanks to
A three.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
I mean it is corrections and retractions. I mean you're
saying all this stuff with such confidence. Oh, Dodgers are
the Dodger station. You know, on a sudden you have
a lot of self confidence. So when you say something
like that, everybody feels like it's sentenced.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
What did I get wrong? It's just scheduled talk.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
It is scheduled talk. But the scheduled talk. As you know, Short,
there's a weather element here. There is no Pittsburgh weather elements.
There could be bad weather in Pittsburg tomorrow, and if
they bang that game, that means maybe no show on Wednesday,
(01:56):
full show tomorrow, double up Wednesday. I'm not exactly sure. Uh,
which way to go, Matt? I don't I don't know
how you're gonna wanna play this.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Or Okay, this is all Kate's fault. Kate sent us
a text this morning. We've been through this. We have
been through this as a show. You have even done
either a word or a top story or a local
knowledge on the inconsistencies of our iPhone's weather app.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
It's not just the iPhone, Matt. I think it's also
the chicken little effect of Brian Blackmore, Tim Kates, David Vassy,
whatever collection of people that try to get us panicked
about it. But you're right.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
I mean they know they know that it that that
we like to have a set schedule, that we like
to know when we're coming out. We don't care when
we're coming on or how long we're coming on. We
just don't like to be thrown curveballs in the middle
part of the pun in the middle of it all.
And give me from Tim this morning, and then think
about it.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Two circles, like a graph, two circles, and then they
kind of intersect at some point.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
It's like a ven diagram here.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Well, yeah, just two circles. Yeah, and one circle, says
Dodger's meteorology, like the actual weather and what's really gonna happen,
and that inconsistency. Then the other circle is us, our
radio show and all the idiots involved with it. And
when those two things intersect, and that inconsistency element of
(03:32):
the weather and the emotional reaction of the people that
we work with and us as a show, it really is,
as they say, the perfect storm and now we don't
know and now there's a Paul Skiens element. According to
Tim Kates element, he's the guy who is scheduled to
start this game. He's the best picture, best pitcher in baseball,
(03:55):
the most coveted pitcher in baseball. He's got a hot girlfriend.
Everybody's super excited about schemes. They're not gonna want to
brew up schemes and get them all ready and hot
and laddered up and then sit him down. That's what
Tim Kate told me. So maybe they'll bang the game
early because it's skim It's not like a Pittsburgh bullpen
game where they just throw out a bunch of dancing
(04:18):
jolly pirates singing yo ho yo. I mean there's the
prota know.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Yeah, this is the problem with all of this, all right,
is that I'm now gonna look like the bad guy.
This is how this works. It works every time because
you know, I can't just take Tim Kate sending that
text of the photo grab from his iPhone that it says,
rain rain right now, I've got to do the deep
dive because I'm ainal that way and I can't just
(04:46):
let it.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
And then you're gonna do a play by play on
the deep dive in the.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Moment and now I've got to come on here and say, hey,
there's no rain until six pm, and it's forecast for
light rain at six pm to a fifty chance of
rain at seven and eight pm. And Kate's has got
us all worked up that they're gonna bang this thing
early for light rain for the first hour of the game,
(05:13):
followed by a fifty percent chance of rain after that.
That's that's that's how he got us just Twitter painted
and freaking out. And like you said, the intersection of
that ven diagram where now all hell is breaking loose
inside this tiny head of mind.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
It causes chaos on the show. It causes chaos for everybody.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
The s in the background, you would think we got
a flood tsunami warning show.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
That's the tsunami warning. We got a long show. We've
got a lot of stuff to get to, and yet
we just can't get past our own psychosis about the weather. No,
you're right, Matt All. Most ninety nine point nine percent
of the time we get a weather warning, not only
(06:08):
does the pregame show start, but it starts on time,
and if there is any delay, it comes and goes
and we have nothing to do with it. Yet there
are certain elements.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Offer your services and they'll take you up on it,
and then you get upset that they don't take you
up offering your services.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
The late Dodger talking because these certain elements try to
make people feel guilty and make people anxious and uh
feeling trepidacious about what may or may not happen. And
I'm talking about two Kates. I got a problem with
the way Kate's handles. Wait a second.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
You don't call out the weather man just because he
gives you. You do, David Man, my fault light rain
at six o'clock when you didn't.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Do a deep dive case. You just saw it on
your phone and you set that screen shot instead of
clicking on that thing to see, all right, what is
the rain? What's the likelihood? You just saw the lightning
bolt in the cloud and you were like, oh god,
I gotta fire this off and let these guys know, right, I.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
Mean, yeah, my crap is went to dal Jones and
is just going up and up and then flattening.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Now, you you did not dig into it to notice
that the rain doesn't show up until that night, right.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Light rain at six and then maybe fifty chance at
the game starting.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
We're talking about half an inch of rain. The moment
does not warrant.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Hey, guys, it's not a half inch of rain. It
says it's a third of an inch of rain. Kate,
that's a different one. Mine sets point five. Well, that's
that's the problem with this crap. Everybody crazy.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Everybody runs to their own echo chamber weather man to
tell them what they want to hear.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
Chance to participate or precipitation ninety percent.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
On Tuesday at what time? At what time? That's at midnight?
Speaker 5 (07:58):
First pitches at six four the eastern. It's gonna be pouring.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Damn it, It's gonna be pouring, says who I mean.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
PNC Park is right next to the Alleghany River right
there where the three rivers across the rain, and you
know it rains harder by water, right because it sucks
the water rivers.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, and they come into one right.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Yeah, yelleganty rist, How do we how do we get
south there?
Speaker 2 (08:32):
I don't know how we get by this. This is hard.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
We're gonna have to looking at it right now. I'm
at weather dot Com at chance of rain just stop.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
We're gonna see hear and argue about this for four hours.
We've got great sports talk to accomplish. We've got to
do what we normally do.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
I don't know, Rick, those clouds look awfully dark over
there coming from the west.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Listen, there's more in the world than the weather to
my with Pittsburgh, Okay, and we've got to be able
to right.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
You're absolutely right, which is why he should have never
said it, because you and I would have never checked it.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
We would not have cared. He's wrong for the early panic.
You're wrong for the confusing deep dive. It's the same
thing that happens every time, and I'm the victim.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
You guys seen Wednesday, Oh boy, what happens on Wednesday?
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Thought nothing?
Speaker 2 (09:28):
And Wednesday is even worse.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Absolutely nothing, That's what happens on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
They're gonna move the mononga HeLa under the sky.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
A fourth river is gonna form in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Sound the alarm, You're the worst, hear the truly are
the worst. And the funny thing about this is like
the last time we went through this, when Kate's sounded
the alarm, texted the panic. The last twenty times we
didn't do our flex alert. Rogan and Rodney did the show.
(10:04):
We got the day off, and you would think that
we would subscribe to this, like, yeah, dude, go ahead,
bang the show and then we'll come on three to
seven if it's ours and we'll get a day off.
That's what That's what the show before us would do.
It sounds like a good idea. We should probably adjust
the schedule on No, hell with that. We're gonna do
the show, and we're gonna have a show, and we're
gonna have a podcast, and then they're gonna do the
(10:25):
pregame and they're gonna start playing the game. That's what's
gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
You can podcast our show on the iHeartRadio app. This
has been weather panic by the Panic brothers of this guy.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Know why it affects me so much? A freaking me out.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
You want to be able to look at it, and
there is no way to know. You could be right,
Kate's could be right. You're just gonna have to sit
and wait. This is how Fritz and Dallas Rains lost
sleep for decades. You know, one guy.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Would take one out of you. Man.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
They're tossing and turning because they disagree. Now it's you
and cads and it has nothing to do with anybody
but us and our radio skitch.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I'm gonna ask you what.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
I'm gonna asking a dumb question because I don't know
the answer, and I've had this argument many times. What
it says fifty percent chance to rain at six o'clock
eastern tomorrow up to a half an inch. When it
says fifty percent, is that out of one hundred percent,
there's a half a chance it's gonna rain. Or does
that mean fifty percent of the area is gonna get rained?
(11:30):
Where do you fall on.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
This chance of rain? Are you shack at the gas station?
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Fifty percent over the entire area?
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Right right?
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Right? Yeah, Yeah, it's only in Squirrel Hill and some
other areas of Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Fifty of Pittsburgh Gates. You're not serious? Right now?
Speaker 5 (11:50):
That is a conversation. Somebody has tried to know its
where the conversation is never happened.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Where do you in the history of the world, You.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Know, man, I gotta say sometimes when it says it's
gonna in la you know, it's not raining in Burbank
and it's raining in my house.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
It's only gonna be in thirty four percent of the city.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Got it got it. I really hope I'm in the
other sixty six percent.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
Brother, I didn't say all was on that side of
the argument. I was like, you gotta be kidding me, right,
this means fifty What if.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
You're in an area where just what if you're right
on the border where it's just missing in your area.
It's raining in one area, it's not raining in another.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
It fits on a fifty percent of my body what
happens right on my head.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
I guarantee you there is that people that have that
side of the argument.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Nobody.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
I'd had it with people.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Wooo, I've got coming to name names.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I had that multiple part you see on TV is
and we've got a fifty five percent chance of rain tomorrow,
Like it's not fifty five percent, And that's that's every
weather person. That's the way they say it.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
I mean, look, I mean I don't face a dance store.
I mean, thank god we live in thank god we
live in Los Angeles, because I don't be able to
survive in any other town.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
But I think that's I think that's right. I think
that's the big part of it is that we don't
ever have to deal with this, so when it when
it shows up. We're just like, wait, but rain's going
to affect my daily life? What the hell is going on? Right?
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yes, but for twenty years we've proven our inability to
emotionally deal with this.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
I mean, we really improve it when it comes to weather.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
And you know when I travel, I still have an
inability to deal with the weather. That's that's that's something
that I know.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
That's the worst.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
When I leave Los Angeles. All right, we're gonna we're
gonna jerk the wheel and move it. We have to weather.
We well, you wish, I mean, we wish we could
get to it, but we can't. Between your internet deep
diving on the weather and Kate's is panicking and and
whatever may or may not happen with the schedule, we
(13:50):
can't seem to get by. But it's a modello meets
a lot of Monday. All right, we did rain or shine.
You can enjoy a modello on the Bends Money Show
for on an I'm a Horse Monday. It's not a
real beach if it's not made with mother. A modello
is a great beer, and it is confected a reward
(14:12):
for those of the fighting spirit below the mark of
a fighting and as far as today's schedule before we
get to further promotion and God blessed Modello hashtag MODELUSA.
We will have Jeff Schwartz on in the next segment
about the Soresby situation with the gambling injunction and the
judge in Lubbock guns up on the plains of West Texas.
(14:37):
Let's go Red Raiders Soresby. What's a few ninety thousand
dollars bets here and there? He is eligible right now
a corner.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Let me tell you this is John didn't do anything.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
He's fine. Well, he did something, but we can't let
it hurt this young man's life.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
He's a good he's a high quality young man that
made a small mistake.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
If he was away edge breaker that bet a few parlays,
he would have been sent into warez. But at this
point you can bet that there will be a conversation
throughout the summer. It's the biggest story of the off season,
the Brendan Soresby story, the transfer from Indiana and then
I saw him last year planned for the University of Cincinnati,
(15:20):
and I did one of his couple of his games
a year before from the University of Cincinnati and here.
He is the number one quarterback in the portal, paid
big money by Texas Tech. And there is a controversy,
a very big controversy, and emerging from the controversy is
the current weakness of the NC DOUBLEA, the imperialism of
(15:45):
the television companies Fox and ESPN, Lubbock's willingness to turn
a blind eyed almost anything. It is sanity certainly a
situation worth talking about. So we'll have Jeff Swarts, who's
a really smart guy, on in the very next segment
to discuss that. And Matt, you're at the Bolt today.
(16:06):
I think we're gonna have some charger action, are we not.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
Yeah, it was a media practice day for OTAs and
Tyler Biattish is going to join us. They signed him
in the offseason free agent center out of Wisconsin, a
former All American, played for the Cowboys for a few
years and then the Commanders the last couple of years,
and now he and Justin Herbert will be that connection
(16:32):
on offense. So he will join us at some point
during the show as I'm here at the Bolt, and
I believe David Vass will check in as well. With
the Dodgers having an off day, but not an off
day for David Vasse.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
No off night. Dodger Talk at seven o'clock with Chris Taylor,
the Chris Taylor retirement exit interview. Maybe we'll have one
for James Outman as he was cut by the Twins,
a true tarzan swung right off the screen. Sadly unfortunate.
But that will be Chris Taylor's fate tonight at seven
(17:07):
o'clock with David Passe, so you'll have that to enjoy.
We'll have Top Story of the Day, Flip's Top Story
of the Day. There has been some rumors of an
only Kate's Cares at some point, so a lot of
great sports talk to come and we look forward to that.
On this Modello meets a lot of I'm a Horse Monday,
and that brings us Matt to our big promotion of
(17:27):
the month, our first tour stop, which we're very excited
to participate in this month.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah, we mentioned doing it a little different this year.
Idea is to make them big blowouts. Every one of
these tour stops. We want to feel like our last
show of the tour stop and that is why we'll
be out at September's tap Room and eatery Rancho Cucamonga.
It is going to be a week from this Friday,
June nineteenth. Had a great time there last year with
(17:56):
our mariachi band with Joe Kelly. Gonna try to get
us say in person, guests, live music.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Willing to do mat to make it a bigger blowout?
Like what are are you going to ride the bull
in there?
Speaker 6 (18:08):
Like?
Speaker 2 (18:08):
What do you think you what do you think you
can do well?
Speaker 4 (18:12):
I think I'm probably just gonna have to ride Dave
Wiese for more prizes?
Speaker 2 (18:17):
What about more prizes? What about like getting a green
screen and doing a weather report for everybody?
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Like that has a great idea. People love talking about
the weather. Our audience has aged with us. We're addicted
to the weather.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
You spend ten minutes.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Yeah, that's a great idea. That's a great call. Themes
tend to go over well with our people. Maybe we
can come up with some sort of concept. How are
we gonna dress like? I don't know. I mean, if
you want bluegrass do we dress we?
Speaker 2 (18:47):
I said you, what are you willing to do?
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Well?
Speaker 2 (18:50):
I'm willing to do anything, That's what I'm asking you
know me? I love the party. I lean into the party.
That's you. Let's go. What do I mean? You know?
Keke stand begin a live tattoo not happening? Wow?
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Do you guys see the weather for next Friday?
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Would you shut your face? Sure?
Speaker 2 (19:10):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Is?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
There? A monsoon?
Speaker 5 (19:12):
A haboob and eighty three and Sonny beautiful that dude.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
And it's an indoor event like Chase Fields.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
I'm gonna bring one of those water bottle fans to
make sure I can cool down all the people that
might be running a little.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Oh you go table to table, Matt, Now.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
That table right there, we go. I'm the fan water guy. Hello.
We have Dodger tickets to give away. We've got Dodgers
merch to give away. Our friend Henrick has giving us
a bunch of stuff two hundred fifty dollars Barbecue Galore,
gift card, cap'n cook oven plus from Barbecue Galore. That
is a remember last year he showed up and he
(19:48):
had like those super cool tabletop fire pit things.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
And you'll be able to see it all. If you're
not there, you can see it there on your stream.
It's gonna be streamed on YouTube and Facebook and all
that different stuff. It's gotta be great. Now here's the party.
Now here's a great question.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
The secret text us up fine and brought to you
by your Sokel Toyota dealers.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
We make it easy as we're all asking ourselves, what
can I do to help with Septembers and make it
a special event? This says Petro, what can I do
to help with the guests for Septembers? Question? Mark, want
me to call my uncle Chris. He runs the soup
plantation concept in Rancho Kok. That place is still two
plus hour weights on a regular all day every day,
(20:33):
and he loves to drink Blantens too, and I know
you hose love that syrup. Give us a call. I
also had somebody call and offer very legitimately that we
could park at their house because they're only eight minutes
from Septembers in Rancho kucka mile.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
That's a lot better than what we got going at
the FIFA World Cup, you know, for parking, and you're
like a one to two miles eight minutes. I would
probably put that at about third of a mile maybe
be is all you're walking, so that's not a bad idea. Yeah,
I mean, there's all up the whole front lawn to
petros and money show listeners. You know, I think that
there's a lot of stuff that we can all consider
(21:13):
as far as what can I do to help? Who
can I be to be my best? At Septembers in
a couple of weeks.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Yes, damn, you guys will be on right after the
US soccer game on that Friday, the nineteenth. They believe
it begins at noon, and I think we're gonna have
that right here on five seventy.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
We're coming out of the Sids and leading.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Yeah, so you guys are gonna be talking soccer, right,
So palooza.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Have you guys landed down have been doing that day?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Well?
Speaker 5 (21:40):
I think most of the guys are all working.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
But yeah, Fox, you know, I remember that a couple
four years ago, when the World Cup was was last
I was doing a game on Big Fox which was
UCLA Chip Kelly versus cow Will Cox And it was
very interesting because that was like the Big Cell. They're like, dude,
(22:05):
you're gonna call this game and you know what's on
before you And we were like what They're like USA
versus Wales first game of the World Cup. You know,
like this year it's talk about a leading Paraguay right,
and they were like, do you better not f this?
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Uh right?
Speaker 2 (22:23):
And that way we did that get more.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
Eyeballs on you than you've ever had in your life, I.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Guess you know. And we called UCLA cal and the
world just kept on turning when it was over, Like
unless you're gonna run neymar down the sixty East, Kates,
I don't know why we you know what I'm saying.
I'm like, I don't know why we have to, Like
I didn't even need to know about the USA.
Speaker 5 (22:44):
It's a begin that's USA Australia.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
All it did was play by playing I'm more nervous
and I didn't need that and made the production people
more nervous. We didn't need that, Kate.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
Oh, maybe we can have some soccer games for the
listeners out there, like soe who can juggle the most
of the soccer ball hacky sack tournament?
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Great, great idea is back. I'm looking at this cap'n
cook oven plus that we're given away, by the way,
that's a five hundred dollars item that is the perfect
combination of a pizza oven and a smokeless grill can
work as an oven, a grill, a gas cooker, all
at the same time. That's what we're talking about. We
like pizza, and you can have high level, gourmet style
(23:25):
freaking pizza with your cap'n cook oven. Plus we're giving
that away.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
We're giving it all away every day on The Petrosen
Money Show, and we will do what we can to
make this extra special. But you think about what you
can do as well. People offered parking. Somebody just offered
their manager of the hometown bffet in the area. The
concept at least some form of the hometown deffet. There's
(23:53):
going to be a stream. Captain Cook's going to be
in the house. I like to have a buz a
bluegrass theme maybe. But Jeff Schwartz will join us next
on the Petro Some Money Show. We'll get to the
latest when it comes to the world of gambling, soresby
(24:13):
Texas Tech and the modern issues of college football.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
This is petros and Money off demand, Demand, Demand.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Demand, Petro Some Money, Hey M five seventy LA Sports
Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. No Dodger game tonight,
but tomorrow Dodgers Versus Pirates Paul Schemes scheduled to be
on the mound for the Pirates. That'll be a first
pitch at three forty pm. So we will have a
one to two thirty show as it stands right now.
But off day today David Vesse will be along with
(24:52):
Off Day Dodger Talk at seven pm.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
You know, I always enjoy hearing what this guy has
to say and check on how he has things arranged
on his social media as far as his knowledge and
opinions go. Talking about Jeff Schwartz out of Palisades High,
Let's Go Dolphins, all Pac ten player in Oregon back
(25:15):
when the Pac ten was the real Pac ten nearly
a decade in the NFL. You hear him on Fox
Sports Radio and Sirius XM and of course the Jeff
Schwartz is Smarter than You podcast, and he is simply
a brilliant man. Here to discuss the Soresby situation and
(25:36):
what it means going forward for the rest of us.
Is Jeff Schwartz Friend of the show on the so
Cal Toyota Celebrity Hotline, on the Petrosen Money Show, What's cracking? Jeff?
How are you?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
I'm good? Always go to hear your voice. You know
you called the highlight of my football career. You were
on the telecast for my three yard rushian at the
USC in two thousand and seven. Whenever he does. But
oh yeah, I got a three yards pittion dynastiction. You
were doing the game. You were like, oh, I know
there is supposed to happen right now, this is just
(26:11):
just horse.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Were we in? Were we in Aunsin?
Speaker 6 (26:19):
Yes? Yes?
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Oh wow, Well that's wonderful. I didn't I didn't know that, Jeff.
I mean, I think we might have discussed that since.
But you know, uh, you know how the well of
football memories goes. It's deep and low. Yeah, you got
a lot of the you got a lot of that going.
But I mean I remember when Rick new Heisel got
in trouble for filling out a bracket. I remember what
(26:44):
the climate was about gambling when I started broadcasting, you know,
when you were a player. Uh, it's just something we
didn't deal with at all.
Speaker 6 (26:52):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
That's changed a great deal. But uh, I saw that
you had an immediate reaction to the Soresby situation. What
do you think it means?
Speaker 6 (27:02):
We've got to be able to follow some rules in
this country, right, Like we've got to be able.
Speaker 7 (27:07):
To do it.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
I understand the rule of law. It seems to be
slipping away by the day. Right, I get it. I'll
follow politics. We all sort of follow it, like we
know it's sort of going away. But even when you
have a steadfast rule, you cannot bet on the team
that you are playing for. Like it said, block and white,
it becomes right. It doesn't matter if you're playing in
(27:28):
the game, not playing the game, red shirting, stinging at home,
sitting with your parents' house, at the beach, because you know,
you cannot gamble on the team you are playing for.
And there's many three reasons for that. Right, even if
you're not playing in the game, you might have the
inside information. Okay, well that's that's you know, maybe that
helps me and doesn't help. But the fact is is
(27:50):
that once you start betting on your team, it's always
gonna lead to more, Right, It's gonna lead to more
things that the centered to open the door to allowing
this to happen. It allows more the fairest things to happen, right,
and the door should always stay shut. Here, I think
we can be it's very logical to say, hey, you're
an into double a football player. You can bet on
(28:11):
in double A Baseball, you bet on basketball, you bet
on NFL, you bet on whatever you want, Baseball, all
the World Series, whatever you want. Just don't bet on
the game you're playing. I mean, it's a very simple
role to follow. There's many integrity reasons for that. Like
even moving forward now, when you watch Saxa tech play,
one thing storts me is ever fixing a game, is
(28:31):
ever gonna do that. He's not doing that on D's
ever gonna happen. But every time you watch sax A
tax play, you're gonna be thinking about him gambling on
the sport of football. Right, It's naturally gonna happen. It's
gonna be talked about. And as sports fans, I'm a
sports fan. I'm a sports fan long before playing in
the NFL. Still sports fan. Now, you want and have
to believe that the games are being played for the
(28:54):
right reasons, right. You know, we got Game of three
tonight the finals. Great serious, so far right, and imagine
watching that game going one of the players maybe gambling
off the game.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Right now.
Speaker 6 (29:06):
You can't do it. You can't do as a sports fan.
And so I just find this ruling very disheartening because
he admitted he broke a rule. Yeah, I gamble on
my team, and Jo's like, yeah, well, I guess it
doesn't really matter and you can play anyways. I just
think it's a bad message to send. It now opened
up the door for more gambling to happen on the
(29:27):
sport from players that are currently playing. And I just
think it's a really miss guy that ruling. I hope
it's overturned, you.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Know, I know it's I've talked about Congress and the
NCAA wants to then to get involved that they don't
want to get involved. It's the last thing they want
to deal with is this sort of stuff. So what
would be their path to try to getting this figured out?
I mean, is this where shouldn't shouldn't Bett Rmark have
something to do with this? I mean, isn't this where
a conference commissioner comes in and says, yeah, whatever with
your judge, don't care. We can't have this. This just
(29:57):
is a bad look for our conference to have this
guy out there playing football is and opponents, you know,
school presidents of the other team saying we refuse to
play a guy that spent ninety k on on freaking
gambling sports gambling, Like what do you think is the
what are the paths for them to try to write this.
Speaker 6 (30:17):
One thing really quickly? The money the ninety case sounds
like a lot. It's actually right, you know, it's not
like you can like it's not like he didn't win
or lose ninety thousand dollars, Like you can deposit ten
thousand dollars into talent and over the lifetime ninety thousand
dollars and you don't take any money in or out
(30:39):
Like that's that could happen, right, Like I think that
the number sounds sallacious. The problem he's betting on his
own freaking team is that that's the problem. And the
problem is like he's clearly has in addition to her
when he's betting live strike props at baseball games, like
a yam a lot, Like I'm not betting on whether
it's a ball or striking a baseball game. I'll go too,
Like that's that's a problem. As far as the question
(31:02):
you asked, your mustn't do nothing about it? What's going
He's just this is this is their cash. Following that
it's a playoff, teams don't do any he's gonna say
the courts made their rule and we respect the decision
of the courts. You know, their job has no teeth left.
I mean if they if they did, they would say, okay, well,
any game he plays in, we're going to vacate that
that wins from you guys, right because he broke the rules.
(31:24):
He broke through. The problem is to go to court
and lose. I mean, it's Anty's lot every single case.
If I think the Alabama one of the professional basketball
players trying to play Alabama actually won that case, they've
lost everything else and nobody should say, hey man, we're
not gonna if you play this year, We're gonna vacate
your wins. And maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. You know,
(31:45):
teams not scheduling them, I mean, look, big twelve teams
have to schedule. Where are they gonna do is forfeit
the game. But don't you know it's a lot of
tough talk. Maybe they're non profit slate. You cast themselves
an opportunity to talk about them scheduling. USC find it
so funny in USC would schedule them and just like
not the nere Dame saying, which is you know, tetris
is very is very big on that, like you know
(32:06):
Central Texas Tech, but not not Notre Dame. Still, like
you know, maybe they lose a chance to schedule that.
I saw something where the softball team it's been tough
for them to schedule non conference games and don't do
anything wrong. They just paid a lot of money for
for one of their pitchers or multiple of their pitchers.
But I think it's a lot of tough talk, like
we're gonna schedule you anymore, We're gonna forfeit the game.
(32:27):
If you're a big twelve team and doesn't want to
schedule Texas Tech. I mean, the answer I guest is
end double a just saying okay, fine, like you want
to play well, then you're you're suspended or you're you know,
we're gonna suspend you longer, or we're gonna do this
or that to your team. Otherwise nothing, And look they
don't really a lot of people think this is gonna
lead to some reform. I don't. No, it's not gonna
(32:48):
lead to the bill. They're not passing that build the
bill stinks, so it's not gonna get you support that bill. Look,
I'm sure someone will call in and tell me, I'm wrong,
But like the government cappy rages for a private citizen,
like a non government job in that in our country,
(33:09):
right in this situation, they want to cap the wages
for college football players. Like maybe you could argue that
they're at state universities and maybe that's your way to
make that work. But that'll all say universities. They're private
schools too. Like the idea that the government's going to
cap someone's wages killsbury on an Americans. Like the bill's
never going to pass, there is no chance to pass.
(33:30):
Maybe there's a fuck of bargaining things set aside for gambling.
If you sign your scholarship paperwork, part of that is
you can't get with you. Ady can't do it. He
already broke the rules. Oh no, I don't know what
the answer is. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
Man, I wish an answer.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
I don't know the right Jeff Schwartz with us as
we discussed the Brendan Soresby situation. A judge, local judge
says he can play despite betting on his own team
while I was at Indiana. He said that was the
way for him to feel as though he was part
of the team. It seemed like a wild excuse at
the time, but apparently one that was good enough. I
(34:09):
guess I hate doing this, Jeff, But how good is he?
Seemed like he was the number one quarterback in the
transfer portal according to a number of people, Like what
does this do for Texas Tech? And do you really
think this is just going to go off without any
issues whatsoever? And he's going to be able to play
the entire season and what does that make the Red Raiders?
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Now, well, the judge it's been for the first two
games of the seasons. He's going to miss ableing Christian
Oregon State, which wow, I mean, just so heartbreak for
a Texas touch having missed the quarterback for those two games.
The game is probably in Oregon State. It was kind
of a win for the Beavers to get Texas tex
to show up, and it's it's pretty pretty big win
for them. I mean, he's good. You know, he's better
(34:50):
than what they had last year. I don't know else
a team on defense is quite as good as they
were last season. They're going to win the Big twelve,
the huge famous sand They're out like minus one five.
I think it was after the ruling his heman odds
everyone better than him to win the Heisman, and the
Heisman is gonna be near on a police I don't
think the voters are ever going to vote for him
to win the Heisman for this. I think that feels,
(35:10):
you know, those are humans voting for that right, that
that it's not gonna happen. But they're gonna be a
playoff team. They're gonna win. The Big twelve was No
One right now, you know, you talk's going through approaching change.
I don't know how good they're gonna be a year
one of Scalley. We also gonna who's gonna also gonna
you know, Arizona State is gonna be good, but I
don't know how much better there than Texas. They did
beat them last year, of course, but you've got to
(35:31):
win the conference right to make the playoff, and they're
gonna have to beat them twice. So they're the favorite.
I mean they should be. They're a good, real good
football team. He's been worn about. There was talk with
toplemental draft maybe first second round that felt rich. But
he's gonna be a first round of picking the draft
if he plays well this season.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Jeff, have you enjoyed USC's off season of celebrating the
recruiting class and canceling the Notre Dame rivalry as much
as I have.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
So the best part about this, of course, the USC
fans for years had made fun of Organ fans right
for celebrating the recruiting wins. So it's really really funny
and ironic and USC now celebrating these wins. I look
at twenty twenty nine, man, maybe you guys will be
a playoff team by then. You know, we do, guys mature,
they're ready to play, and by by then you'll be
ready to go. Organ's coming in to league five. Man,
(36:16):
I'm telling you we're good. Many people, you know, winning
championships hard to do, but we have taken the steps
to do. We were turned four NFL defensive linemen, they
all came back. Our depth is good there, we have
good quarterback. You know, offense whiles are coming together. Obviously
the coordinators, you know, we do coordinators start the offense.
(36:36):
You know, we'll see how it drew down the coordinator.
But so yeah, you look, you know, maybe just a
USC is year. It's year five of the rebuild. Man,
get given pot that it takes five.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
We know the windows windows.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
The windows open, it's open, it's open, a way to go.
Here's nothing but the USC. And maybe you can help
me with this. Like Gary Patterson is a Hall of
Fame coach. We know that, but he really he gets
him and defense have him in good in ten years.
I don't know really like what just like that people
(37:11):
using that as like oh USC defense, I'm like, I
guess Danton Linn was a good potator too, and I
don't know, like.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
I'd put him in the Hall of Fame. I'd put
him in the Hall of Fame twice if he can
figure out how to coordinate around Lincoln Riley. No one
else really has.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
So like that's my I just think the USC, the
Dolphins line returns, that's a big part. I think the
offensive line with healthy Watcher is actually really good. I
want people talk about it enough. Good offensive line page
is really good. The injuries really talk to them. You know,
lay in the year at the offensive line. But if
UNI place those wide receivers, obviously defense gotta be better.
We'll find out tough. Scheds are right, You're gonna you
(37:45):
gotta host organ host Ohio State this year too. Like
you said, that that's some really tough opponents.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
I can tell you're jealous. The windows open. The great
Jeff Schwartz Fox Sports Radio X Sam and of course
the Jeff Schwartz is Smarter than you podcast, a great
interview and always great insight and a fun guy who
really understands football at a lot of different levels. Jeff,
thanks so much for doing it. To have a great day.
Speaker 6 (38:08):
Take sure guys have a good one.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
There he goes Jeff Schwartz. Petrosen Money continues on amphis
seventy LA Sports. Next, We're giving away FIFA fan fast
tickets all day.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
Long, Southern California's most listened to sports talk show.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
This is petro Money on demand. Happy I'm a Horse Monday, Everybody,
It's Petrosen Money. A big thank you to Jeff Schwartz
on his burner, joining us to discuss the Soresby situation,
Sef and Bus. We still have a lot to come.
Word number song of the day. You're not going to
(38:51):
play him Tyler Badish the Chargers new center. Used to
be a cowboy and a commander and a Wisconsin Badger,
one of those big giant white alignment from Wisconsin that
we love. He will join us sometime from the bolt
there and Vassa, Who's got Dodger? Talk tonight at seven o'clock.
(39:15):
Don't forget we are having an event. That event is
at the Beautiful Septembers in Rancho Cucamonga. We expect you
to be there. It is a week from Friday. A
week from Friday. Do not miss that show. All right,
but it's Monday right now. I'm gonna do what I do.
The weekend is mine. So your weekend? How was your weekend?
Speaker 6 (39:39):
Matt?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
How is your big swell? How is your weekend?
Speaker 4 (39:43):
Got in the water for a quick, quick minute on Saturday,
a little surf and turf. I had a seven thirty
tea time with the Navy guys that invite me out
every now and then. So played the Navy course there
in Los Alamidos. It's it's a money game. And in
the money game, I won zero skins. I won zero
(40:04):
closest to the pin. I did not win NET, I
did not win gross. The team that I was on
with my partner, who was a pretty good player, did
not win NET, nor did we win gross, nor did
we win a single skin either. So I had to
apologize to him because it was the first time I
had played my own ball in like a year and
a half. So sorry, muck that you had the worst
(40:26):
partner out there.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
I enjoyed California games every week, you know, basketball service.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Yeah, I know. You notice how it's it's never repeated.
They're like, oh, you know what, Matt looks like, he's
kind of in shape. Let's get him out here. And
then they never invite me back again. The first time
it's like, yeah, we're not gonna do that again. I
went to this place that's not new, but it's I
haven't played it like a year. And anyway, I went
(40:53):
to this place called Sweet Green. My wife and daughter
love it. I have you no, I maybe it might
have been ordered here at some point. Yeah, it's a
different kind of deal man, And I know this is
you know, uh, chronic taco kind of deal but it's
all robots. You like punch your order into this computer
(41:14):
thing and then you walk to the register and they
put this bowl on a conveyor belt and all these
like robot arms fill it with all the stuff that
you said you wanted, and then they just hand it
to you. It was really weird, but it was pretty tasty.
I then went to Green Cheek for dinner, had a
smash burger. I was much more comfortable with that production process.
(41:36):
A bunch of people slinging burgers behind the counter there,
and then we started the wife and I a new
series on Netflix called Legend, which is like British spy stuff,
and the first episode was pretty good. Sunday, I served
for a while, watched some of the racing on the playback,
saw usc get gut punched at the Seal Beach Grill
with a lot of locals, and then over to the
(41:56):
Good Doctors where I manned the grill for about ten
kids as his dog or Annie is in town and
my daughter Parker came down this year, so it's great
to see her. She's gonna graduate on Sunday, but came
back congratulation. Yeah, so it was good weekend all right.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
Then, Tim Kates, I.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
Had a good weekend, Matt. I cant tried to.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Call Kates yesterday and he cleared me. I was busy.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
I'm on the weekend.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
I'm not talking to you.
Speaker 5 (42:20):
I'm doing stuff.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
I thought you had Dodger talk, now, you know, I
thought you were sitting there calling.
Speaker 5 (42:24):
No, I had Dodger pre yesterday. But Matt Legends is
a great series, great twist at the end.
Speaker 4 (42:29):
Okay, so you've watched so it's not new. It's like
it's been around for a little while. No, it just
came out, like and you've already watched it all.
Speaker 5 (42:35):
I've watched the entire series.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
I Matt.
Speaker 5 (42:38):
When I get on something, I binge watch it. Thus
the TV show Black Rabbit, which came out last year
with Jude Law and Jason Bateman. I watched all eight
episodes over the weekend. I was up until three o'clock
in the morning Saturdays this Sunday watching the final two episodes.
Like I said, when I get into it, I just stay.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
Up and watch it.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Feel that way about the closer Friday night went to
the close.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
I think you could binge watch the you just had
to watch it on TV. It man Uh.
Speaker 5 (43:08):
Friday, ordered some Dino's pizzas and went to Village Christian
to help my wife move offices, paint and primer her
new office that she's moving into. So that's took a
lot of work on Friday and Saturday. Aaron's on Saturday,
and then got Poke bowls for the family at Poke Lolu,
which is a new spot for us on San Fernando
in Burbank. Uh, it was a hit. We'll be going
back there some more. I like the food and I
(43:29):
like the prices there as far as the two scoops
and the three scoops of your poke. Sunday, I had
Dodger pregame and went and got some coffee with the
Everets at the San Fernando Coffee Company which is opened
up in Burbank and kinis over the air withoud plast.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
No, I don't think they do.
Speaker 5 (43:46):
But they good looking people. The barisas men and women
that both work were working there on Sunday morning at
the San Fernando Coffee Company, which is just opening Burbank.
It's new to us. But before I get Crono tacoed,
they're in Valencia. They're in the valley obviously starting the
city in San Fernando. There's something like Arcadia, the ie
so they are around. Okay, people, they are around, But
(44:07):
for Burbank it's a newer spot.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
So I can appreciate it. You you've done that like
ten times now where you're like, you know, for Burbank,
this is new. Everybody just understand I don't leave.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
That much and ch talk I mean chronic tacos must
have been ten years ago. He still wears the scars, righty, Yes.
Speaker 5 (44:26):
I mean I like the wild wild West. Like stuff
doesn't get out to us for like ten years.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Yeah, the valley might as well be all farms and
water and goats.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
Right.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
That's ok, Ronny.
Speaker 5 (44:36):
That was my weekend.
Speaker 7 (44:37):
I had a great weekend indeed as well. Friday evening,
following the radio program, my wife and I went to
visit the Twins. We took some food over and watch
the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs, much to Julian chagrin. Saturday,
I made an early Costco run and a visit to
the supermarket, and in the afternoon we went to the
Dodger game, where we were guests in a suite. First
(44:58):
time the Grays and myself have been in a suite
to see a game. Actually a courtesy of my cousin
Eric and his wife Jackie. David Vassa even stopped by
to say hello and chatted it up for a few minutes.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
To see you.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (45:12):
As a matter of fact, one of the board members
who was there in the suite, his name was Johnny,
nice guy, a big listener of the radio station and
a Dodger talk and he was very excited to meet
David Vasse. So it was very nice to Dave to
come by and shake.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
His hands with you in the seventies suite.
Speaker 7 (45:28):
You know, I've had opportunities, but you know, the opportunities
didn't work out quite for me because my man, we're
going to have a party over here at noon. Well
guess what, I got to work at noon, so I'm out.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (45:42):
That was the first time I've seen a game. I've
been inside this suite. I've just never seen a game,
an entire game from the suite, and it was quite
an experience. And once again thanks to my cousin Eric
and his wife Jackie. Sunday we slept in and we
were sequestered for the remainder of the day with domestic
chores and resting relaxation. That was my weekend. What about you, Petros,
(46:03):
how was your weekend?
Speaker 6 (46:04):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Well, not as exciting as everybody else, as I can
tell you that I went to on Friday. On Friday,
I went to the uh the All Star practice for
the Palace Bernes Little League team that's right by my
house coached by my friend, the litigator Dad. I do
the uh the Militant Blood Black reggae playlist for these teams,
(46:30):
and I sat there and made sure the playlist was playing.
I posted a thing on Instagram of it. I don't
feel as if I'm properly respected by these other dads
who have no idea what I'm doing there.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
For curating the militant reggae playlist.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
As the team DJ, as the guy that does the music.
Speaker 5 (46:49):
What do you want like then to all stop? One
of the dad music is awesome.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
One of the dads came up to me and he
was like, there's a guy with nothing to do. And
I said, and I said, but I'm the team DJ.
And he said oh, and then he came back, You're
a real nice guy. And then he came back and
he was like, so, how do they look to you?
And I said, who's to say? I've only heard for
(47:13):
the music.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
I just crriate the playlist, sir. So all I can
do is give them the music to motivate them. What
they do on the field is completely up to them.
Speaker 2 (47:23):
My mother in law's in town, so the kids like
to spend time with her and my wife so a
lot of catching up there. I laid low, real low.
I tried to get my haircut but was rebuffed twice.
On Saturday, one guy closed and one person said, you can't,
you have no appointment. I fixed the lizard's light, which
I was proud of the light and the enclosure. I
(47:47):
did get the haircut on Sunday Avenue.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
How did you fix the light?
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Well, Matt, the light exploded. It blew off like the
light like so like I had to like unscrew the
innards of the bowl from the thing. You know what
I'm saying. I need a wrench, right So anyway, that's
how I did it. And I borrowed a wrench from
my son, you know, his toolbox, and I did it
myself to mask Well, that would be the case if
(48:16):
I wasn't able to do it, but I did do it.
So f you in the face what I got a
haircut at Avenue E like, I said, a shout out
to Alexis who cut my hair from Lambert Park. Lambert
Park is where my grandma used to live. It's also
right where they found the black Dollya's body. I looked
(48:36):
up the exact location for her to see how close
her house was to it, and I hated the block
or two. I ate in the New Fantastic Cafe in
Redondo the drive through and checked back in with the
Little League and was not happy to hear a song
(48:56):
that was not mine on the playlist and left.
Speaker 5 (49:00):
Yeah, they changed it as soon as you left, by
the way, like he's.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Gone the music. They played freaking modern English, and I
was like, what the hell is this Modern English? That's
the modern English? Wasn't They weren't for black supremacy at all.
They were mesh and lace. So I had a problem
with that, big problem with that. I sat on the
other side too, with the Westchester parents. It was a
(49:24):
scrimmage because I feel like the dad's on the other team.
On the team, I'm the DJ. Four don't understand me
as the DJ, I might have to pull out. I'm
feeling pretty uncomfortable at this point.
Speaker 4 (49:39):
Well, you got a lot of time on your hands.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
I can see you guys are pretty interested in it.
Speaker 5 (49:43):
It was little uncomfortable for everybody.
Speaker 7 (49:44):
There's a guy with nothing to do save whatever dignity
you have left people.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
No, I will not add the DJ. I posted about
it on Instagram. Dammit, word number. Song coming up in
the next segment
