Speaker 8 (02:18):
A lot of dishes to wash here at the beginning
of the show here, a lot of stuff to get to,
a lot of things to promote. It's hard to know
if we're doing the right thing, knowing how many white
people work on this show.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Oh I'm a leading for us man.
Speaker 8 (02:34):
I got to tell you, I don't think that they
could have had a more riveting, racial impactful, uncomfortable conversation
than we heard in the last hour with our old
colleague Dan Woiki and our colleague Rodney Pete. Just scintillating
(02:58):
sports talk radio. That makes me looking at myself moving Fred. No, No,
it makes me keep keeps me on my toes, yes
to keep it moving. And you know, Matt, I always
try to at least I.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Think you do.
Speaker 8 (03:11):
But it doesn't. No, I think it matters. I do.
I think it matters. I'm gonna take a long look
at myself and.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
Be like, and you what are you going to see
when you take a long look at yourself?
Speaker 4 (03:25):
What are you going to see?
Speaker 8 (03:26):
One word comes to mind, white privilege.
Speaker 7 (03:32):
Three white guys can't possibly compete in the NBA in
twenty I.
Speaker 8 (03:35):
Feel that way. But you know what I feel that way, Kanda,
And then I think, like, am I racist for myself?
I don't know. I don't know. It made me think.
Matt had this brilliant conversation last hour, and it made
my wheels turned. Now did it stop Fred from bailing
out of the show like a hoe early? No, it
(03:56):
did not. But that's what I'm saying. With a lot
of dishes to.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Walk, we do, and we got a lot of stuff
on it.
Speaker 8 (04:03):
It's hard to concentrate on your race when you know
you got a lot of work to do. I mean,
it's a big USA game, big Dodger game, NBA free agency.
It's hard to concentrate on that when you're thinking in
the back of your mind.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
But you're white.
Speaker 8 (04:18):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (04:19):
Well, maybe it's just relegated to the basketball court piece. Okay,
it's just the white is a basketball thing. It doesn't
apply to sports radio, doesn't apply to soccer, the World Cup.
Just look at Norway, very white squad super to the
eight there. So you know, uh, you want to call
them the Snowtime Lakers and be a racist and get
(04:41):
everybody around you uncomfortable, then do it. Okay, you want
to play that game, You do that.
Speaker 8 (04:45):
You want to have an uncomfortable conversation with Acho, you
could do it.
Speaker 7 (04:49):
Heyacho, I have an uncomfortable conversation with me. I can't
believe they called them the snowtime Lakers. I can't believe
that's racist. I thought it was twenty twenty six over here.
Speaker 8 (04:57):
I don't feel comfortable now. One thing we we can
all get behind. I mean, I know the blacks and
the whites might have posed each other in the world
of basketball, but we can all get behind the Mexicans,
especially because they're down and out after losing in the
World Cup.
Speaker 7 (05:12):
A what a match though, talk about playing with spirit
and fire and giving it everything you had every last minute.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Matt I made up with a sombrero to them.
Speaker 8 (05:24):
I may or may not have taken part in a
very inappropriate cheer doing a tequila shot with the waiters
and bartender at the Red Onion, oh about an hour
before the game started. I immediately went home and went
to bed, but I woke up and watch a game,
(05:45):
and I don't know if there would have been problema
sant Anaheim either way or in Santa ana either way,
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (05:54):
I think had they won, it would have been a
similar reaction, which just made be a little bit of
a different disposition behind it, you know.
Speaker 8 (06:03):
I mean, given what happened in Koreatown, what happened against Ecuador,
the mortars fired at the English Hotel in Mexico City
last night, at high altitude, I don't know if we
the Western Hemisphere could have afforded another Mexico game win,
or do you know what I'm saying now inside we
might have reached critical mass last night.
Speaker 7 (06:25):
It would have been in Miami. You know, all these
matches in Mexico. Mexico would have taken their show on
the road to Miami to take on Norway. Would have
been a hell of a clash, incredibly interesting. But alas England,
I believe what they say in Top four the fitness
and were the better side. They were and they had
(06:47):
the most fitness. Yes, ultimately outclassed, I think is another
word they used that is say that taken as a
as a slide of any kind, it's just the ocular
class than you, I believe a wayway soccer vernacular.
Speaker 8 (07:04):
Uh, I'm a bit bit of a high class than
you am.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
I naunt Pedro and it's it's a slight anyway.
Speaker 7 (07:11):
What we call it greg Gorio and we EMBEDI form
I plus the opponent.
Speaker 8 (07:18):
So it is a Modelli meets you a lot of Monday,
we still have the fighting spirit for the Mexicans and
what a great celebration of Mexican culture. Uh. Most everybody
behaved very well, of course, but where's a lot of
Mexicans and they there's gonna be some excitement, especially around
the fourth of July holiday with a fire cracker theer
so Hey happy model will meet you a lot of Monday, everybody.
(07:41):
That is just one of the things we have to promote. Tomorrow.
We have and Tim Kates takes the lead on this.
We have a spot, We have a sponsor. Whenever we
do this, it's usually like a heavy hitting corporate sponsor.
You know, we don't do this for Jack Stephen's plumbing.
We don't.
Speaker 7 (08:00):
No, Like you know, our guest, the superstar of the
segment is gonna want to walk out with something and look,
maybe it's a nice fountain pen.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (08:10):
Maybe it's like a sweet fossil watch, you know, something
along those lines, and you gotta get some sort of
corporate what is it?
Speaker 4 (08:18):
What is it? Kates?
Speaker 7 (08:20):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Thanks for our friends at Verizon Wireless.
Speaker 8 (08:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Yeah, Tomorrow Petro some Money Show live from Dodger Stadium,
beginning at three o'clock three until six, live from the
suite and live from down underneath in the Dodgers Media.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Room where you guys are scheduled.
Speaker 8 (08:38):
Yeah. See, I knew it wasn't gonna be brought to
you by Ricks and Alesion Heights, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Matt.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
I mean I knew that our lunch will be if
the actual program will be brought to you by Verizon.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
You guys are gonna go one on one.
Speaker 8 (08:53):
You're a little heavy today. Can I get a turkey bird?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
But I'll get two orders of fries? Okay for everybody
for the table letta catch.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Please being in cheez brito please. Oh that's for your son, right, yes, hey,
shut up, shut up? Tomorrow inside the locker room at
Dodger Stadium with hold On with with not one but
two Dodger players, who.
Speaker 8 (09:18):
The first one being.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
World Series champion Mookie Begs.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
One of the greatest players of his generation, will finally
sit down with the Petros and Money Show for an
extended conversation celebrating his past president future.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
It's gonna be a Mookie moment for sure inside that
Dodger's lockerow.
Speaker 8 (09:39):
That's gonna make David Best say very slow, I.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Don't know what you mean.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
But also scheduled to join Petros the Money Show tomorrow
hold On guest number two inside the locker room. Some
say he's got the best legs in baseball.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
Well that's what you've said.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Some say those the are so big they should call
them Quad Rushing Dalton Rushing.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
Now, now Kate's we want to talk to quad Rushing, Well,
I think that's going to be great, and we of
course relish the opportunity to talk to Mookie Bets. These
are very coveted interviews, especially in the format we do
them and how good we are at them. But my
question is this, and I believe it's valid because it
(10:28):
would not have been the first time that Matt and
I are prepared to interview somebody else and the door
opens up and Will Smith walks in. And not that
we have anything against Will Smith, but are we guaranteed
that there's not going to be some kind of bait
and switch?
Speaker 3 (10:45):
As we sit right now three ten pm Pacific time
check on July sixth to jug Mookie Bets and Dalton
Rushing are scheduled to be on PMS tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Yeah, gonna be really pissed when he comes on.
Speaker 8 (11:02):
But did they mention like it could end up being Rubleski,
like you know, anything like that.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
There is no asterisk at the behind, it says TBD
on that statement.
Speaker 7 (11:13):
It has happened the last two times, So that'll be great,
And Mookie is now a media professional. This podcast has
got quite a bit of traction, followers, viral moments, so very.
Speaker 8 (11:26):
We're gonna we're gonna promote it, damn, and then we're
gonna say, hey, Bookie, here it is your fossil watch,
thanks for training. This courtesy of Verizon.
Speaker 7 (11:36):
And a Dalton Rushing. Here is your cross Benn and pencil,
said Verzon.
Speaker 8 (11:43):
For your correspondence when you're on the road, Belton, we
know you like to write all the people back home
at Quadville. So tomorrow we will be at Dodger Stadium
before the Rockies game, before the All Star break to
check in with a couple of players brought to you
by Verizon. A very special rule that Matt says, no
one is ever allowed in no except for us. Right.
(12:04):
Actually last time, the last time anybody was in there
was when we interviewed class Now and keyk. So it'll
be great tomorrow. Rushing and the Quad Squad plus the
one and only Mookie Bets, So that should be great.
That's tomorrow. So that's a lot of dishes. We've already washed.
We've already tackled the white racism, just like the white giants,
(12:28):
like the Holland Guy we've We've talked to Yeah, We've
talked about Modello meet a lot of Monday, we talked
about the World Cup tonight. We promoted our big event tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
We're anti racists.
Speaker 8 (12:40):
We are, I hope you think we are. It's not
enough to be against racism, Matt. You and I must
be anti.
Speaker 7 (12:49):
Racist, anti racist, correct, that's what we are. We hope
to evolve where we're race agnostic. I thought we were
there to me, right, So did I.
Speaker 8 (13:02):
When I bought the NWA albums back in the day
and I used to listen to Iced Tea, I felt
pretty black back in the day, felt like it was
okay for me to wear my big pants.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
See, I felt that same way when I turned on
Tone Loke and Young.
Speaker 8 (13:13):
Exactly, Matt, right, one of your favorites. I know, Rob
Bass's death hits your heart.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
It's so hard.
Speaker 8 (13:20):
And now what am I forced to listen to. I
just deleted all my black music, and I'm only gonna
listen to Puddle of Mud.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
That's all I had. I'm gonna pull up moving forward,
it's all I'm doing. That and Benson Boone and.
Speaker 8 (13:33):
That's what we're gonna play at Brewery exan Anah high
all Boon not but b b Petty boone right in
your face. Second stop of the thirteenth Daniel Petross and
Money Summer Tour is for all people black and white.
Even if there is more than three whites in your party,
you could still win a championship.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
With the Petros and Money and Expanic people too, and.
Speaker 8 (13:58):
His Expanics as well. This Friday, Brewer Rex in Anaheim,
thirty one ninety one East Lapalma in Anaheim, off the
ninety one at Glacel. We got prizes on site, Matt.
(14:18):
It's certainly not as bleak as the outlook in this
puddle of mudsaw.
Speaker 7 (14:22):
No, you can take all the prizes away if you
are the winner. Dodger tickets, Dodger merchandise. The Henrik from
Barbecue's Golore not just a barbecue isle up Barbecue Store
is bringing another oven plus Captain Cook oven plus to
give away. You'll take it home that day. He is
bringing another two hundred and fifty dollars barbecue. The Lord
(14:44):
Gift Card. Our friend Brett from Westinghouse gave us another
fifty eight inch HDTV, so a ton of prizes. If
you've been to one of our brewerycs summer tour stops
before you know, gigantic outdoor patio area, great fish.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
Pizza.
Speaker 8 (15:05):
After that job, I'm so freaking white.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Three hour show. We're three to six pm.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
By the way, the prize closet for five to seventy
was wide open earlier because she stole some white ass
up and I saw that grill.
Speaker 8 (15:24):
I walked in. There was a man.
Speaker 7 (15:27):
There's a lot of subod. Well, we're gonna bring a
lot of it with us.
Speaker 8 (15:32):
Uh oh.
Speaker 7 (15:32):
And we have secured a band. The band has been secured. Boys,
No Elote Boys.
Speaker 8 (15:38):
I'm playing under protest.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Then you will have to play under protest once again.
The Elote Boys have been promoted for free in this
space and they have not responded.
Speaker 8 (15:46):
To reached out. That's on you.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
You're the Elote Boys.
Speaker 8 (15:51):
Guy.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
I know what.
Speaker 8 (15:53):
I didn't know what the other hand was doing.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
The Steve Alba Trio very busy these days.
Speaker 7 (16:00):
They are playing Spagatini, they are playing the Seal Beach
Fish Fry. They just played the Brea Summer Festival.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
Is it a jazz band. It is not a jazz band.
Speaker 7 (16:09):
It is a If we could have some jazz it
is a you know what, though, I bet they actually
could believe it would not surprise me if you made
a few jazz requests take five. I think they could
pull it off. Kelly, Steven and Jack's they are this
is their farewell tour. Jackson has headed off to Belmont,
Kelly has headed off the Berkeley School of Music, and
(16:32):
they will melt your face with their Jeff Beck, their
Moby dick By led Zeppelin, Styling's very versatile band though
they can play just about anything. They're gonna send us
their song catalog and we will be able to peruse
it pe and send them back.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
What we would like is our ten or so songs
of choice.
Speaker 8 (16:48):
Yeah, I want you to play ten.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Now, guys.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I did a little digging here, and so did Zach
by the way, who was producing for Kevin Fingers today,
and thank you Zach.
Speaker 8 (17:01):
How does Zach back wasn't able to control that conversation.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
No, but he did go into the vault here of
audio and pull me some audio. What happened because we
were in the prep zone and didn't he This is
this is from the last show. This is from Rogan
and Roddy. I guess Wowiky was on again. You got
a lot of text about it, a lot of reaction
here in the hallways. None of us heard it, except
a lot.
Speaker 8 (17:19):
A lot of finger pointing, a lot of accusations.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
So here here's here's a little and back and forth
with Dan Wiki.
Speaker 9 (17:27):
Of the only time I'll give you another fat Oh no, okay,
who is the last white guy to lead a team
to a title? There's been one one in fifteen years,
and that was the Joker.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Well it's not actually ill.
Speaker 9 (17:48):
And beyond that, there's only been two in the last
twenty two years, George Dirk, Dirk and.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
One of those and one of those two players haven't
got We're they're European, right, all right?
Speaker 7 (18:04):
So yeah, that was so Luca, he's also Europeans.
Speaker 8 (18:08):
I mean that wait, wait, that's a white guy. Very
Does that strike you in a way? Does that hit
the spot where your gallbladder used to be in your body? Kate?
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Oh, it hits me hard.
Speaker 8 (18:18):
But I want to hear your guys' a reaction.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
So I mean, just just the matt, you know, listen,
imagine if the shoes on the other foot. And I
don't even like to speculate because I find that sort
of conversation disgusting. To be honest with you, I find
it defensive. I find it disgusting, and I don't believe
it has a place in sports talk radio in twenty
twenty six.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Here's a little bit more right, and.
Speaker 8 (18:38):
So what about me? I have my I want to say,
we have to go all the way around the panel.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
All right, Petro's go ahead, yours.
Speaker 8 (18:46):
I am disgusted. I never before did I think something okay,
just because.
Speaker 7 (18:52):
Of the color of a man's skinny camp in an
NBA title, He's immediately dismissed.
Speaker 8 (18:56):
I'm not going to be judged by the cop I
want to be judged by the content of my character.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Rodney in some in some world, and some.
Speaker 8 (19:03):
Can't.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
The white guys want it. Yes, in tennis, incredibly racist, ya, okay,
I'll give you that.
Speaker 8 (19:11):
In tennis. Wait wait, wait, wait wait wait wait. Taffo
got no chance.
Speaker 7 (19:14):
Right, James Blake got no chances, Dad.
Speaker 8 (19:18):
Got no chance. I mean no right.
Speaker 7 (19:22):
Arthur Ash, I mean a man that broke barriers in tennis,
and Rodney's just gonna dismiss Arthur Ash. We have to
be your Arthur Rash show of record, because I'll gladly
waive that banner.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
Hey, I'll support arthour Ash every day. Okay, I'll give
you that.
Speaker 9 (19:37):
In tennis, the last man to win tennis and win
Wimbledon was Arthur Ash in nineteen seventy five.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Oh, he was ready for them.
Speaker 9 (19:43):
Okay. When I claiming that we can play tennis, when
I claiming we're gonna go to Wimbledon and.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
Win, I wouldn't speak a long shot. I wouldn't do that. No,
And you know, Serena Williams is a black lady.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Turns out I thought, apparently it's a black one sports.
Speaker 8 (20:00):
I'm uncomfortable, you know. I wanted to talk about the
Taylor Swift wedding and kate'sy's got all this racially charged audio.
I knew. And it's already enough of a thing, you know,
with the US, and everybody's mad at us because we
got a black guy that they try to take out
and we said, no, you're not putting that black guy
on the sideline.
Speaker 5 (20:18):
Get him out there, get out and play, get out
and play for the country, you know, and everything called
glory to hell with the red card suspension, all riled
up and chafed and chofed, and that's what you're gonna
come with Kate's I wanted to talk about a celebration
of love.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Let's keep the race theme going here. Do you guys
have a problem with Mario Lopez tweeting out a picture
and a Team USA soccer kit saying yesterday it was Mexico,
today it's America. Heart, same passion, proud to cheer for
both sides of who I am.
Speaker 8 (20:52):
He's Latino.
Speaker 7 (20:52):
You know what, I'm glad you brought that up, Kates,
because that's beautiful.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
That's glorious.
Speaker 8 (20:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:00):
How many of these these a holes who you know,
have a parent like my You know what, Listen, I'll
throw my family under the bus. We're like twelve or
seventeen percent Croatian. You would think somebody killed one of
our family members when the Croats were wronged by that
stupid var That has been a nightmare in this World Cup.
(21:21):
And that goal was overturned, the equal ISA against Portugal.
And then I got a nephew who says, well, now
that they're out, I'm onto Norway.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Like why are you on to Norway? You were born
in freaking America.
Speaker 7 (21:33):
How about your Team USA, you idiot, and you're not
Team Croatia and team Norway.
Speaker 8 (21:39):
You know what, I shouldn't do this, but I'm going
to turn my attention and point my iire right at
a black person. Oh no, yeah, Matt den Becky, Ethiopian
American African man that works at our station. He has
a darker hue than us, certainly, and he's been running
around all month.
Speaker 10 (22:00):
You are of a darker shoe than me.
Speaker 8 (22:02):
Who are we going to support Petros? Who are we
going to support? We need somebody in Africa. I don't
have Ethiopia to support. Who should we support? Senegal Ivory Coast?
And I told him I'm not comfortable.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
How about even how even in USA?
Speaker 7 (22:18):
Matt?
Speaker 8 (22:18):
How about that? If the Greeks were in the World Cup.
I don't think I'd go to a game and wear
a Greek jersey and act like I'd been to a
bunch of Greek soccer games or know what's going on
with Greece and soccer. I don't think i'd do that.
Of course I wouldn't do that with America either.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
Have your team get booted and then say, yeah, I've
moved on to Norway now.
Speaker 8 (22:38):
Like like right, like to a different lily path.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Mario Lopez is exactly right.
Speaker 7 (22:44):
You know, for whatever reason, team Mexico, and again, you
should have been Team USA first. Mario, All right, Slater,
let's not forget you know, that's that's how you were raised.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
I know your past was stuck under the rug.
Speaker 8 (22:57):
And he didn't know he was Mexican until Colin, right,
So now he's kind of overcompensed.
Speaker 7 (23:02):
So yeah, you're overcompensating by cheering first for Team Mexico,
nor first to wear.
Speaker 8 (23:07):
The jersey, Mario, but you have to wear the giant
gold Aztec headdress.
Speaker 7 (23:12):
But that's the thing you want to do the Mexican Okay, fine,
at least he's coming to Team USA and he's not like, Oh,
I love the Frogs and Bope is my favorite player.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
So that's who I'm supporting.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
Not no, support the Red, White, and Blue for goodness sake,
support Old Glory.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Well, support our guys.
Speaker 8 (23:28):
We've covered a lot of ground. We've demanded national support.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
I think the show before us just got a check
out a formal apology.
Speaker 8 (23:39):
They've got a lot to answer for. Matt. I've had
multiple I'm not even kidding, I've had multiple listeners asked
me for our boss's email. Yeah, and I was like, oh,
it's not that hard to find.
Speaker 7 (23:49):
All kidding aside, it was blatantly racist, all kidding aside.
Speaker 8 (23:54):
Matt, I mean, come on. Truly was to say this, wait,
wait till Tuesday comes around, like, come on.
Speaker 7 (24:00):
White people can't win at basketball, Black people can't win
at tennis.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
That is what you boil that down to. It is
incredibly racist.
Speaker 8 (24:10):
I don't want to mention any other sports right now.
We'll be back with more Petrosen money on him by
seventy l I sports racist Tuesday.
Speaker 7 (24:23):
I can't believe Dallas drafted Cooper Flag. What were they
thinking of taking Tomber money?
Speaker 4 (24:26):
He's a white guy.
Speaker 8 (24:27):
That's tomorrow racist Tuesdays tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
This is petros And Money on demand.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Demand back to Mislada mondays on the Petrosin Money Show,
it's not a real if it's not made with Medella
Medello Especia rude with the highest quality ingredients for a
taste that's pure gold.
Speaker 8 (25:05):
Oh it's a tri stay happy. Modello meets a lot
of Monday everybody on the Petrosen Money Show, it's not
a real meet a lot of it's not made with Modello.
That's a reward for those who have the fighting spirit,
no matter what race or creed you are. We accept
all here on the Petrosen Money Show, and we believe
you can win a championship the mark of It. Hider,
(25:30):
we got a big event a brewery X and Anaheim
on Friday. Will be at Dodger Stadium tomorrow interviewing Mookie
Betts and Dalton Rushing. Perhaps to you by Verizon. A
lot going on. You see him there on your screen
on Apple TV. You see him during the Fox World Cup. Matt.
We're brothers in Omega Ball.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
That the truth.
Speaker 8 (25:52):
I mean, we could barely barely carry his jock and
Omega ball, so we have no business in there. No,
we did it, but we were enticed to stay. Indeed
shouting us right now. Apple TV. You see him on
Channel eleven. He's kicking ass.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Fantastic post match coverage.
Speaker 8 (26:13):
The soccer voice of Southern California, Mark Rogodino, our old
friend on the Petrosen Money Show on AMHI seventy LA
Sports and your Southern California Toyota Dealer, celebrity hotline exhausting
all soccer avenues. And we know he's very busy right now.
What's cracking Rogo, thanks for doing it.
Speaker 11 (26:35):
I was under the impression this was to come on
and talk Reagan music. It did I get the wrong show.
Speaker 8 (26:40):
I mean, we do have an extra Pto Bonton nineteen
eighty seven tour t shirt to give away here at
the station, but no, sign me up. You will save
it for you. It's a little small for me. But Rogo,
I mean, look, you guys have been loving promoting living
blea soccer, you soccer types your whole life, and here
(27:05):
it is. I mean, it's not the nineties. This is
a whole different thing with the World Cup here this time.
How satisfying is this and how beyond your expectations has
this whole World Cup been, and in particular the performance
of the United States team.
Speaker 11 (27:20):
Well, if you're asking if I got the World Cup fever,
I hope everyone on this call right now has the
World Cup fever. And all your listeners all around the
all around the CEU DO of Los Angeles, you know,
I mean.
Speaker 10 (27:32):
This World Cup has delivered in every facet.
Speaker 11 (27:35):
The stars are starring, the small nations of couple Verde
and Kurasao having their own headlines, and then of course
for all of us here the US men's national team
on the brink of getting to a quarterfinal for just
the second time ever, first time since two thousand and two.
So yeah, there's a for the football lands, there is
a lot to be excited about and pump for the
(27:57):
kickoff tonight against Belgium for the USA.
Speaker 7 (28:00):
Oh for for people that don't watch a lot rogo.
How weird is this red card thing? It sounds like
it's never happened before. Everybody seemed unanimous that it should
not have been a red card, Yet this still feels
kind of weird that this is the ultimate sort of
thing that came out of it, that that ballagoon is
going to play tonight.
Speaker 11 (28:21):
I think we're probably all for the separation of church
and state. So I don't love that politics is getting involved,
if not even the case, right, but I don't love
that it's getting involved in the beautiful game. A. Yes,
the referee didn't do his job in the game. That's
a that's a yellow every single time, and twice on
a Sunday League match, and to go straight red in
(28:45):
that instant.
Speaker 10 (28:46):
And I think there was a.
Speaker 11 (28:47):
Little bit of misuse of video assisted review, reportedly slowing
down to get to get the exact frames to see.
So by the letter of the law, if you slowed
it down, maybe you could have said that stues win
into the back of leg which it looked like they did.
But the thing is is, in real time action, it's
two players trying to make a play on the ball
and legs get tangled up.
Speaker 10 (29:07):
All the time.
Speaker 11 (29:08):
And as far as precedents, you know, Christiano Ronaldo, we
saw him bow out with Portugal earlier today. It was
in the last year in fact, that he was shown
a red that was ruled to be egregious and they
gave him a three game match ban. But then instead
of him missing the last qualifier for Portugal and the
first two games of this World Cup, FIFA rolled it
(29:30):
back and he only missed the last qualifier and has
played in every game for Portugal, including today getting knocked
out by Spain. So there is there is actually some
precedents here. It is not a common thing. I believe
it's only since twenty nineteen that Article twenty seven has
even been for you know, firmly invoked and available.
Speaker 10 (29:50):
So but yes, to go in a roundabout.
Speaker 11 (29:52):
Way to answer money, it does feel weird that this
is becoming a headline at a talking point, But we
want the stars, the star and Balligan has been our
best players by the numbers, our leading scorer, the most influential,
the most aggressive in that front line of attack, creative.
We need him, we need him. So from an American perspective,
I'm elated, and I can see why outsiders are not
(30:15):
exactly thrilled.
Speaker 7 (30:16):
You mentioned we need him, No doubt they're better with him, obviously,
like you said, he's been the best player through the
World Cup for the US, But did you still feel
like they would be the better team? Uh, even without him?
And if that were the case? Kind of what is
what should we expect? Because I think we all remember
that run that Belgium made right with Lukaku and like
how good they were, and I think a lot of
(30:37):
us are still sort of stuck on that. Is that
still the same squad that we're talking about.
Speaker 10 (30:43):
Well, let's hope we don't go cuckoo for Lacaku, right.
Speaker 11 (30:48):
I think that that golden generation for Belgium is definitely
on the on the back side of the mountain, right,
Are they still very talented? Of course de Bruna Lucacu
has been the ultimate super sub for them. When they've
had success in second half of games, which they did
against Senegal somehow pulling it out and winning three to two.
Speaker 10 (31:10):
Like a week ago. He was at the heart of it,
he got the scoring going.
Speaker 11 (31:13):
And so this is gonna be this is gonna be
their toughest test, There's no question about it. But I
think with what we've seen, with the creativity, with the skill,
the talent of this team, I would easily argue that
this is the most talented and deepest US men's national
team we have ever had, and they're playing some of
the best soccer I my eyes have ever seen. So
(31:35):
Belgium is going to have players that can hurt us,
but I feel like we have players that can hurt them.
And that's what's gonna make this all the more intriguing.
And I'm just I'm nervous, but I'm also just so pumped.
But yeah, Seattle.
Speaker 8 (31:49):
Rogo, you, I mean, you know, you hold it together
pretty well. You're a professional, you don't freak out, you
know how to act when you're calling a soccer game.
Or even more importantly, Omega ball Man, Yeah, I was
something like that requires serious concentration. Uh, I mean, how
much do you lose yourself in the moment here watching this,
(32:10):
do you flip your lid rogo like you're at the
Yellow Man Show in eighty eight?
Speaker 10 (32:15):
Can hit them? I think?
Speaker 11 (32:19):
And by the way, that last little Omega ball, that
last Omega ball mentioned counters two because money kind of echoed.
So the over unders actually set.
Speaker 8 (32:27):
It four and a half for this internet three so far.
Speaker 10 (32:30):
That's right, that's right, And I just said it again.
So we're at four.
Speaker 11 (32:34):
So if you had if you had the over, you're
almost there. Omega ball done, I say.
Speaker 10 (32:39):
I say, like after the game.
Speaker 11 (32:41):
Against Bosnia Herzegovina where they won in the round of
thirty two, my kids would even be the first to
tell you I had a little bit of an emotional
moment where I was like, Wow, we're doing this, especially
when you consider, you know, we we got knocked out
in the in the first round of the knockouts last
time out in Qatar twenty twenty two, didn't even make
the World Cup in twenty eighteen, So there's been an
(33:04):
emotional rollercoaster for US soccer fans. And to think that
now we're into the round of sixteen, and specifically for
Southern California people, to think that if the US wins tonight,
they come back here to play at so Far on
Friday and play against Spain, who's one of the two
favorites along with France to win the whole doll team. Ah,
you know, come on, how can I not flip my
(33:25):
lid a little bit and do a little reggae skank
on the side.
Speaker 8 (33:30):
I'm excited about it myself. I'm enjoying it as much
as as anybody. I can't believe the white guy for
you know, the really white guy with a severe haircut
for Bell, for Norway, Holland, Holland. What the hell is
this guy? I mean, I know, I mean, I guess
I'm stupid to say I don't know who he is,
but I don't, and I guess he's one of the
(33:51):
top five players in the world. But my god, are
the stars starring just because that's what they always do
in the World Cup? Or is this year different because
they had a bigger draw of the teams? What's the deal?
Speaker 11 (34:05):
I think part of it is just luck of the
competition and the excitement. But you're right, the fact that
we went to forty eight teams and you know, you
had littler nations like Koda Saugan in there. I mentioned
too Capel Verde. We had I think ten African nations
in the competition, which has never happened before. And so
(34:26):
big players are coming to the biggest stage in the
world of sport and producing these moments. But when you
talk about Erlyn Holland, Yeah, the guy is an absolute beef.
You might think he's related to Ragna Lothbruk. You know,
it's just it's just incredible. A man that size, technical as.
Speaker 10 (34:43):
He is and his speed is just out of this world.
Speaker 11 (34:46):
And so his ability to take Norway and lead them
to where they at the furthest day've ever gone in
the competition is remarkable.
Speaker 7 (34:55):
The I know, you look, we can we can look ahead.
They've got to concentrate on the match at hand, and
I know means will it be easy? We've seen I mean,
my gosh, the Cape verd and the last game they
played was just ridiculous against Argentina, So who knows what
could happen.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
But if we can look ahead, is.
Speaker 7 (35:11):
There anything to take away with you know, Paraguay, Paraguay
and France and with what Portugal just did in Spain
struggling a little bit there like beyond getting into the
eight and the path that would lay ahead of them
to try to get to the final.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
How stiff is that competition? Maybe? How close is this
team us to the top squads in this thing?
Speaker 11 (35:35):
They're certainly going to move up the FIFA rankings if
they win tonight. But I think that, you know, when
you're talking about Spain France, like Norway, I think is
a team that we could match up with, right. I mean,
they just knocked out Brazil. Brazil is not Brazil the
celekala that they were, you know, say five six years ago.
But I think Norway would be a good comparison in
(35:57):
terms of looking at the US and looking at Norway
teams that were certainly in the B tier but have
the talent and opportunity if the pathway is right to
make a deep run in the tournament. Norway took care
of business. They're into the quarterfinals and now the onus
is on the US against the Belgium team. And let
me say this about this Belgium team. They've been our
(36:18):
bogie team, they really have. I mean they kicked our
butts back in March when they came here for a friendly,
and then the last time we played them in a
World Cup knockout game in twenty fourteen. Tim Howard absolutely
stood on his head and kept us in the game.
We ended up losing the game one nil. That was
for up And you know, so there are Bogue teams.
(36:39):
So for me, part of this narrative is the US
men's national team finally gets past the Belgian bump because
ballot is back.
Speaker 10 (36:47):
Did you hear all that?
Speaker 8 (36:48):
Yeahs past the Belgian bump? Ballots back? Do you want
to bump? I might need one after tonight USA versus
Belgium on AM eleven fifty Mark Robindina, Oh Channel eleven
and Apple TV in the Galaxy and many and Omega Ball.
Of course we are brothers in Omega Ball. Some great
(37:09):
competition we were able to see out at the Dignity
Hell Sports Park a couple months ago, and rogo last
thing for you and I guess what happens if with
all of the teams in town and all of the
soccer ventures here in the United States, what happens if
(37:31):
this team does go go a little further? Are we
going to have Are we going to become even more
soccer like unheard of?
Speaker 11 (37:39):
Well, I mean, we know I think we all know, right,
the NFL and NBA.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Is King is king.
Speaker 11 (37:46):
But when in nineteen ninety four you think about that
World Cup bump and that produced just two and a
half years later produced Major League Soccer, which is now
in thirty plus seasons.
Speaker 10 (37:56):
So I think that there is a real World Cup bump.
I think that is a real thing.
Speaker 11 (38:00):
And if the US wins tonight and again for a
second time ever in their recent history, yes, they went
I think all the way to a semi final or
a final back in nineteen thirty. We weren't really watching
that game, were we.
Speaker 10 (38:13):
Jut guys, World Cup?
Speaker 11 (38:15):
But that's England that should beat England in that journey,
and I just think that there's going to be more
eyes on it. I'm sure you guys have walked around
and people are saying, oh, if you've been watching the games,
have been watching the World Cup? Absolutely rever as I said,
is a real thing, and people who have no interest
usually in the beautiful game are certainly tuning in. And
(38:37):
I wouldn't be surprised if we find out after tonight's
game it's the most watched US men's national team game
ever against the previous one in the round of thirty two,
which I think was close to twenty five million households.
Speaker 7 (38:49):
It's been incredible. It's an easy team to root for,
a lot of fun, the style of play.
Speaker 11 (38:56):
Hey, did you guys like the megaball money?
Speaker 10 (38:57):
Did you like the megaball?
Speaker 8 (38:58):
Did you have a good time at these?
Speaker 4 (38:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (39:00):
Like Omega ballat is Christian Pulisic fast we uh we.
Speaker 7 (39:05):
Had a blast. The people were super cool. All of
the guys that were playing, we ended up chatting with
them down on the field.
Speaker 8 (39:11):
And I've never worked with a Brazilian production team before that.
Speaker 10 (39:15):
Check that box bang Yeah to Tho.
Speaker 8 (39:19):
Do the do though.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
We love you brother, thanks for doing using on Omega
Ball by the way, we just hit it.
Speaker 11 (39:27):
And if that, if that Pasco Bonton and the Regae
Revolution shirt is too small for you, I'll gladly take us.
Bretta Gravelicious Whaley.
Speaker 8 (39:37):
You have a job a jock here and a brigadier
general as well for you.
Speaker 10 (39:41):
Uhar would first choice.
Speaker 8 (39:43):
Thanks, thanks, thank you Rogandino doing a great job on
Channel eleven bringing the soccer to the people, not just
the Mexicans.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
But also to the Mexicans.
Speaker 8 (39:54):
Yeah, you know, one sport that whites are pretty good
at Matt like a real chair, be a Jim White
team is yachting.
Speaker 4 (40:03):
I heard that.
Speaker 7 (40:04):
Yeah, white guy, whoa Wow, I'm gonna spit some facts
at you about white people.
Speaker 8 (40:14):
White guy, whoa You know I always wanted to have
our lead in be the Gil Scott here. We'll be
right back when hours your weekend.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Southern California's most listened to sports talk show. This is
petrone on demand. Back to Alata Monday's on a Petrosin
Money show. It's not a real if it's not made
with Medelo medeloid with the highest.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Quality ingredients for a taste that's pure gold.
Speaker 8 (41:01):
Kick game tonight Dodgers Rockies, but also America taking on Belgium.
A lot of talk, a lot of racial lot of
racial talk.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Uh, Belgiam, we don't like it.
Speaker 8 (41:23):
No Belgium USA. On AM eleven fifty at five, Dodgers Rockies.
Of course, Jim Kates with Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck
at seven ten an hour. Second tour stop is on Friday,
Marie X and Anaheim thirteenth Annual Petrosen Money Summer Tour.
We got a trio, a band that's gonna play, so
(41:43):
we hope everybody enjoys that and comes and seesus in Anaheim.
It's gonna be great. But right now it's time to
look back to the weekend. I'm gonna do what I do.
The weekend is mine. So how was your weekend, Matt?
Speaker 4 (41:59):
How was your week It was good. We did a
lot of World Cup action.
Speaker 7 (42:04):
I realized with the World Cup here in America, the
fact that we can watch these games at one o'clock
or five o'clock or something like that as opposed to
seven little different. Yes, maybe that's why it's so popular
because we're watching it at a reasonable hour. Friday surfed
a while on the AM, did the hennesses for the
World Cup action there, and then got side swiped, ripped
(42:25):
the side view mirror off my car.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
Oh no, yeah, a bit of a bummer. So I
had to deal with that for about an hour.
Speaker 8 (42:31):
Was your car parked?
Speaker 7 (42:32):
I was pulling into a parking spot and someone was
trying to haul ass around me to get one that
had just opened up, like two.
Speaker 8 (42:39):
Spots averbal altercation like Wiki and Rodney.
Speaker 11 (42:42):
No, he was.
Speaker 7 (42:43):
He was kind of super apologetic, and I was like, whatever,
we'll figure it. Out, so all good there, and then
went over to young Caitlin Ludwig's birthday party.
Speaker 8 (42:52):
No bad days, right at the light right, no bad days, guys,
just a snicker on my car.
Speaker 7 (42:56):
It's all have a good time out here. Man by
Naples Ribs. We tried to crimp some Piccolo pets to
get him to explode, but it wouldn't work. Saturday, same thing,
early surfing, over to the cunning Hams for his annual
watch guys eat hot dogs, then eat hot dogs. Tommy's
under came through, so everyone was very excited about the
(43:17):
gambling on the hot dog. And this guy Brent showed
up with a bottle of malort and was trying to
get people to take shots of it, and I said,
that's a real a hole move, and everybody that took
a shot of that was really miserable. And then now
over to the Good Doctors for the rest of the
fourth of July surf side party with the entrepreneurs of
Seal Beach, the Colby of Colby Plus and the mentors
(43:37):
of Glomar Bats. And Sunday, same thing, just a lot
of surfing and watched Norway beat Brazil with the family,
and then we went over to Marnie's with a group
of about ten people from Mexico, England and that was
my weekend.
Speaker 8 (43:52):
Enjoy this shot of my lord.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
I was like, here, what are you doing?
Speaker 7 (43:56):
Like you have to tell people it's like the worst
stuff they will ever put and yeah, and then everyone
that took us like, why would I do that?
Speaker 8 (44:02):
Geez? I mean I drink Kampari and I and I
and I frown on my lord.
Speaker 9 (44:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (44:07):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
Kates laid low all weekend. Guys had an invitation to
go out to Lake Havasu, but declined that instead just
stayed home and hung out with the wife and went
to the Dodger game for Fourth of July.
Speaker 8 (44:20):
Oh did you that's exciting?
Speaker 3 (44:21):
Did some home projects. The wife painted a small bathroom
that is in the house and redid some stuff and
is really on this do it yourself kick right now.
So she's having a blast of the summer just redoing things.
I went to Low's one, two, three, four times over
the course of the fourth of July weekend, four times,
(44:43):
including last night. I went after we went to don Kuko.
Shout out to my guy Hector for saving us a
table for two and turned the Mexico game for the
Mexico game. So we got there at five o'clock. The
game was delayed an hour, so we stayed until halftime
of the game, which was two to one at that point.
I said, you know what, we need to go buy Low's.
I forgot to get something that you're working on because
she's doing this project by herself because I can't do anything.
(45:04):
And went to Low's and lo and behold. I thought
they were closed because there was nobody at Low's last
night during the second half.
Speaker 4 (45:12):
Well, yeah, they're all watching the game, man.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
So I went to Low's and I went to Target.
I'm like yelling out, Low, is anybody here? Because there
was nobody at Target either except for two people working.
So going to Target, went back home watching the end
of the game, which was brilliant, watching England just gasped
by the trying to hold off Mexico. And then yeah,
just there's a lot of nothing this weekend, guys.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
So sounds pretty excited right home projects and I don't
go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
One daughter was in Sedonah, the other one was in Havasuo.
Speaker 4 (45:40):
The other one was out and about.
Speaker 8 (45:41):
So are you sure she was in Sedona? Was she
with a group.
Speaker 4 (45:44):
She was with Sedona and she was with Sedona hockey player.
Speaker 3 (45:50):
Yes, I wish Ronnie.
Speaker 12 (45:53):
Gentlemen had a nice weekend myself, Just like mister Kates.
I kept it quiet at home as well, with my wife,
hanging out with the dogs with the windows closed, blinds drawn,
watching the World Cup and Dodger baseball. We made chili
dogs and sipped on adult beverages. No fireworks whatsoever this
year because of Los Beritos, so we just stayed indoors
(46:15):
in the house the whole night watching television. Sunday we
had a family barbecue and got together then watched the
World Cup games and spending quality time with laf Amilia,
including the twins. And once again it was a quiet weekend.
And that was it for old Ronnie Fossio. What about you, Petros,
How is your Fourth of July weekend?
Speaker 8 (46:38):
Well? I did yoga on Friday. I went to a
party where like like the younger crowd, the yc the
young crowd and the younger parents in Rolling Hills Estates.
This party was which is not far from my house,
but a different town, and there was a guy in
(46:59):
the neighborhood named Juan, and Juan stood on the balcony
and played the Star Stangled Spangled banner on an electric
guitar to open up their party.
Speaker 4 (47:09):
Oh Wowdrick style.
Speaker 8 (47:10):
Yeah. And there were two guys dressed like George Washington
and they both ended up in the pool dueling wrestling
George Washington's real good time crew man. Oh yeah, in
an out truck, like.
Speaker 4 (47:22):
In a boat, like crossing the Delaware Jean.
Speaker 8 (47:25):
Like opposite sides of the pool. They meet in the middle. No,
it was they more just kind of, you know, one
guy trying to throw the other guy in. You hope
neither of them have their phone. You know, they're drunk washing.
They had a bartender there, and uh, somebody was like, hey,
that guy was pretty happy when Turkey beat the US.
That guy's Turkish. And I was like that guy that
(47:47):
was w Yeah. And then uh, Saturday, I went to
yoga and I went to the beach club, the the
one at the end of Rat Beach that it's got
a pool and stuff. And I got a little impatient there.
I wanted to leave a little earlier than my wife
and daughter, but I held it together. I didn't make
a fool of myself. But as I was pacing around
(48:09):
I went into one of the nicer rooms where there's
some old people, and a guy asked me if.
