Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is the Petros and Money Show.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
You are one of the kind hosted by Petros Papaday
guests left school after sixth grade. Look at him and
the voice of the Bolts Matt money Smith. The answer
is on money. There is nothing you can do. You
know it's coming. This is the Petros and Money Show.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
On the home of your world champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Make us your top preset on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Always try to keep a patch of sky above your life.
Speaker 5 (00:39):
Call me you s Petrosen Money Am five seventy LA
Sports live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. And we are
here on a super flex a one until three pm show.
We will be off before our regularly scheduled start alert
because the Dodgers are continuing in the East Coast swing.
They will take on the Phillies first pitch from the
(00:59):
gapin for broadcast booth at ten past four pm. That
means Dodgers on Deck will start with Tim Kates at
three pm. Due to the breaking Otani news, a little
bit of movement and Shean will be on the mound today,
Eric Lawer tomorrow, Justin Rableski on Wednesday. That is the
way it will lay out. David Vasse will join us
(01:21):
next hour to give us more insight to Dave Roberts
presser before the doubleheader yesterday regarding shohey Otani's knee and
his indefinite break from pitching for the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
And that is news. The Dodgers made a trade, that
is news. We'll have a story on it, and we
will have David Vassay on in the next hour. We
are only on for two hours, and we've been off
for about three or four days. Me and Matt was
off all last week, and so is Tim Kates. Even
though everybody's so incapable, Tim Kates has to stay up
(01:57):
all night and set up a show for everybody. They
just look at him slack jaw and mouth breathing. I mean,
I'm a mouth breather, but at least I come up
with content. But anyway, we were not around most of
last week. So even though we have short shows most
of this week, whether or notwithstanding in Philadelphia tomorrow, we
(02:18):
do have one full show on Thursday on the schedule,
but that's not enough, and we are going to do
some extra content. At least today we have a dead
and a live guy Birthday of the Day on the
iHeartRadio app for your smartphone. That will be extra for
those of you that are whining and bitching and pitching
a fit that there is not enough of it. Yeah, honestly,
(02:42):
I mean, we work a lot, don't take a lot
of time off. Even when Tim Cats takes time off,
we don't take time off. And even though you're trying
to be funny or snarky on the text usso or
the Twitter, especially on a very very rare vacation, it
is not received well, I can promise you that. And
(03:04):
there were a few giant sixteen ounce glove punched to
the faces right back, Matt with some f offs to
people on the secret textile so to say, I have
to self report that a couple people got hey f
off right in the face. Yeah, and they had to.
You know, every once in a while you have to
you have to show that's secret textoso line is not
(03:27):
just a canyon you're screaming into a secret text us.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
A line brought to you by your so called Toyota dealers.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
We make it easy.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
So every once in a while, you lean over that
that partition and scream into the canyon, and a cobra
comes up and bites you right in the atoms apple.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
It happens, thankfully, I mean you you know, look, that
is your cross to bear. The secret Textoso line.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
And the Twitter Matt, you know that happens on Twitter
to a lot of people. You guys are gonna work today. Oh,
you're gonna get around to working today, Hey, f you,
I get it. We haven't done a show together since
nineteen ninety eight.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
That's that shit not true that I do get it
in the DMS and that just goes straight into the
delete bin. What are you doing? I'm on vacation why,
I don't know, because we get quite a bit of
vacation and we rarely take it. So when the opportunity
presents itself, it seems like a good idea to maintain.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
No nor responsibility. No, No, That's why I'm retired, my miam,
because I'm just can't get away from it. I mean,
you know, you know how it is?
Speaker 5 (04:32):
My God, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Now this has been scheduled talk we will have an
extra All this being said, you've guilted us enough into
some bonus content today. At least you'll get It's also
a Modello meets a lot of Monday Man. I mean,
everybody loves a Modello meets a lot of Monday's.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Fly that is loud, not to meet a lot of
it is not made with MODELO or reward. For those
with a fighting spirit, Modello the mark of a fighter.
I know Fred wasn't there today, but I do feel
like the program feed this is super inside radio. I
apologize that comes back to us when we are not
in the studio. It's so oppressively loud that it had
(05:14):
to be deaf. Asked Fred, and I am deaf, but
Fred is really deaf, saying I need more bored in
my ears. For like the first five minutes the show,
I feel as though I'm being assaulted by Dinosaur Junior
at the Santa Monica Civic.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
I'm sorry, you know, Ronnie's out. Michelle Mo, who likes
it loud, is there. I will get it adjusted.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
Oh yeah, Modello meets you a lot of though then listen.
Sometimes you like it loud, like when DJ Citizen Jane
is on the ones and twos. I want to feel
that beat square in my chest. Well, I'm sucking down
my Modelos.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
That's how I feel when Steve Aoki walks up to
the decks.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
You know, right, listen, I'm gonna go climb into that
base bind.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
It couldn't be any louder, you know. I want it loud.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
I want those Philly Barbican Garcia clippers to be so
loud in my ears. I don't mark him a fighter.
I don't think people remember this end campaign. Well, they
remember mister cartoon, Well, let me come on just like those,
or even more so than those. The Petro Some Money
Show believed in Modello and it's a scent to the
number one beer in America prior to it's actually happening
(06:16):
that we have been part of Modello. Meet you a
lot of Monday for damn near a decade here on
the Petros and Money Show, and we're very proud of
that relationship because we too have the mark of a fighter.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
We do. We fight so hard and everybody knows and
that's why we're on. We're on early today because we
fight hard to get onto the air, to fight our
way off a hold, to get you guys some great content.
And that's why we're hopeful, hopeful that we have a
great week in great sports talk. Okay, now it's too low, Michelle,
like we too low? No, that's too loud.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Sorry, I'm sorry, Michelle. I shouldn't have said anything. But
and this is not for you. This is something that
happens every time we move from the prep zone, no
to the studio.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
It's just you know what, I'm not even you know what.
I'm not even gonna say. I'm not even going to
blame that, Matt. I'm gonna blame Ronnie. Yeah, when Ronnie,
it's what it is. He's a saboteur, is what he is.
Ronnie hides things. We can't find basic things when he
goes on vacation because he's very petty. Am I wrong?
(07:20):
Do we have that sound? Tim?
Speaker 5 (07:22):
I can't find it? What do you mean you can't
find it? Ronnie moves? Where did he move it to it?
Speaker 4 (07:27):
If I had a coin for every.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
Time I sat an unmarked folder.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
I'd be filled with quarters.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
I don't know why it happens, but every time Ronnie leaves,
things changed or they're not where they're supposed to be.
Yet when he comes back, they're all of a sudden there.
I don't know about how it happens.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
How about how when we're doing a radio show that
is called, quite literally the petros and Money Show with
Tim Cats, the executive producer who's quite prevalent on the
air and does a bunch of commercials and hosts the
Dodgers and all that. Why are all of our MIC's
lower than Ronnie's is another question.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
Well, that's just something new figure out.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
You like for a man his age, like it's become.
It's's pretty, it's kind of petty, like I can't I'm
trying to see past it. But at a certain point
to you an engineer, no I'm not. I just you know,
it's called the Petresen Money Show, and like Kate's is
(08:31):
like yeah, guys, I mean you can't hear him. And
then Ronnie comes over the top like the like you're
gonna see the Wizard of Oz. For for god's sake.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I can't believe you brought this up, because I've noticed
it for years and I thought I was just going
crazy that he was louder than everybody.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Oh no, he is definitely.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Okay, I just kill feature myself here. I'm gonna make.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Sure today showing these the uplifting streets of Philidel Field.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I thought I was going crazy. Guys. You know, I'm sorry, Matt.
Matt starts with the you know, I don't know if
this is a little bit too inside radio, and I'm like,
you know what, I'll one up you there, welcome Ronnie's.
Mike is louder than all of us, and he talks
the least. Oh god, anyway, I'm sorry. I'm a little bitter.
(09:23):
You know when when when Kate's is away, Ronnie likes
to play and the don'gews are boosting.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Dude, they don't even recognize them South just.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Look BLUISTI streets of Philadelphia. I can't get kicking up
from that. I don't think I'm getting up from that.
Their cludes don't fit them anymore. They're jus waiting to
(09:56):
greet them because they've already played them both teams this
season when Kate's was away, Matt Ronnie really came to
play last and it just wore me out.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Man.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
It's just apologize. It's not your fault. It's not your fault.
He's just able to take vacations.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Did Tomaclain not show up or something like it wasn't
most right?
Speaker 4 (10:20):
No, no, yeah, it's just you know, do it. Mono
was geeky. He's feeling it, you know, like I was
just like, that's what I did.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Did you tell him enough enough? No, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
I didn't do that because you know, Rogan and Rodney
did that once and he like never knows. Yeah, he
never recovered. I would never do that. I want Ronnie
to feel free, but he was geeked man. And then
you know, tend to hear Michelle having to futs with
the levels because they're not right anyway. Yeah, we too
low and then you know.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Now you do the we too low sign.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Hopeful music, all of that hopeful music.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
I haven't knew well, Matt, speaking of hope, we had
crind an ordeal here yesterday at my home. What happened, well,
I told you off the air a little bit, but
my son, and it's a cautionary tale. Although I don't
know how people avoid this, but thank god I was
home and my whole family was home. We were supposed
(11:26):
to be at a party at Robbie Bogdanovich's house for
Bobby Bogdanovitch's birthday, for Bobby Bee's birthday, and we just
were a little burnt out and just didn't go, and
thank God, because after I watched a halftime at the
World Cup, I went into my out of the basement
here where I do most of my business, and went
(11:51):
up into the kitchen, which is right next to our garage,
and it sounded like At first, I thought my daughter
was in the garage breaking things because she was mad
at my son for some reason. That's just where my
mind went first, because that's what happens here. And then
I thought somebody was shooting at the house like a
machine gun. And then I realized that he hit the floor. No,
I mean it sounded and then I went into the
(12:12):
garage and one of my son's electric bike batteries was
literally like exploding and shooting. I don't know, I didn't
know how batteries explode, but they shoot out vaults and
explode like fireworks. And I mean, Lord Jesus, there's a fire.
And Fletcher, my son, thanked God, grabbed a fire extinguisher
(12:37):
and pulled the thing. And I don't know why I
let him go first, but it did.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
And he impressed it that you have a fire extinguisher
in your home. Well, there's another one, fire code.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
There's another one in the we're not. And there's another
one in the garage, which was you know, exploding at
the time, so we didn't get We got one and
that was in the kitchen and it wasn't big enough,
like Fletcher sprayed it and then got lown back by
the fire like backdraft, literally, and then I took it
and attacked the fire and threw myself into the fire,
(13:07):
and much like my football career, I attacked vigorously and
was blown back very far, and my eyelashes and all
that got burnt, and we were out of juice in
the thing. And at that point, you know, we called
nine to one one and the pop post showed up
and they opened the garage and the batteries started firing
(13:28):
at them and they were like f that. They went
across the street and the fire department showed up the
palace Verty's estate. Well now they were there, you know,
but they you know, they.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
Don't want to wear a couple batteries to my chest.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
They don't have the proper gear, you know, to fight that.
And so then the fire department came right when they
showed up, like my garage caught on fire. The side
of the house and that's not traumatic for your children
to watch or anything. So the fire department showed up.
They were all lovely people and put out the fire
(14:02):
and cleaned out the garage, and the hazmat people showed
up and checked all the different batteries, and I guess
it's kind of common that batteries explode. They explode in
cars and really expensive cars, and.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
They don't let you take those batteries in your luggage
anymore on the planes. Do you have a lithium battery?
Is it in your backrock? How big is it? It was.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
It was extremely traumatic. And then because we're not stable people,
you know, my daughter was screaming in the street that
her geckos were gonna die. I had to restrain her
from a cop. She was screaming at some cop like
go in there and get my lizards. But my neighbor
(14:46):
Ralph and Katie Simarusti, very nice people we've talked about before,
they took us in and the kids were because it
was a bit of a roadside attraction, you know, the
whole neighborhood shuts out, and you know, a whole gang
of children on electric bikes that look like the wild ones,
you know, they all rolled up like what happened to
Fletch with bargs and so it was quite an ordeal.
(15:06):
And I called because I didn't get everybody's name, and
I took a selfie with a few of them because
obviously everybody's local around here. But I called the fire
department and the police department earlier to get the names
of the officers and the fire people that were so
nice that came and helped us out and listen to
my there's going to be a bodycare video of my
(15:27):
daughter screaming and a cop somewhere. And they called me back,
but we were on the air just now and they
call me back, so I'll get that information and thank
all the people. But overall it was a what.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
I called the sweet James. This is a big Tisus,
like a a Biance Italian fancy e bike that's you know,
got big money behind.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
It, you know, I think, well, one of the e
bikes is one that my son a couple of years
ago converted from a from a mountain bike into an
e bike on I'm kid he probably bought from China.
That could be your culprit, Matt, Oh really it could be.
Well either way, the house didn't burn down. I don't
(16:10):
know how many millions are in store for me from
Sweet James. But you know, I did inquire once about
suing a tree, so I mean I'm not above it, right.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
She didn't go forward with that.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I was attacked by the true We inquired, Matt, we acquired,
and uh, you know, Sweet James looked into it about
as far as he could go, just like the song
in Oklahoma. But I don't think there was much there.
Sweet James realized that his client was an idiot and
probably shouldn't have run his head into a tree this case. Though,
on the other hand, I mean, I took like mortars
(16:43):
from this freaking in mind. I can't my have a
chemical headache from blowing the thing. And then, like an idiot,
I went and even though there's a hose in my
front yard, I went and filled up a bucket of
water from my pool and ran it into the front yard.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
Like we're operating under pressure.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
I felt like, you know, Paul Revere trying to put
out a fire in Yorktown or something like, oh, you know,
like yeah, and you know, and we just kept being
attacked by the mortars because I guess if it's like
a seventy volt battery. All seventy vaults fly out and
explode on you like.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
A mortar, like a cake on the fourth of July. Exactly,
It's like each one just launches.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
Now. Some say Tim Kates was trying to light a
pancake griddle for Sadie Kate's second birthday or one of those,
and his face almost blew off.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Eyebrows.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Yeah, and you know, Matt, we used to light the
Greek cheese at the restaurant, you remember the saga nappy, Yeah,
you know, and I lost a few eyebrow hairs. You know,
you wouldn't know it, but I lost a few eyebrow
hairs and arm hairs, you know, in those orde.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
This is a legitimate house fire.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
I've been through the wars now, you know. Now. And
then my my friend from down the street, the Anaheim
Fire chief fireman, Mike, texted me late in nineties. You know,
everybody in the neighborhood heard about it, you know, so
you feel sure your house was on fire and sweet
and and uh, he's a sweet guy. But Mike, Mike
texted me last night, like I heard you fought the
Red Devil ship him right in the face. My dude,
(18:15):
I was like, man, he's looking right back at Alec
Baldwin in backdraft. Dude. I attacked the flames and I
was blown back back.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
No, you weren't like Baldwin, Dude, you were like that
dude Axe because he's a little bit more the chaved,
hard ass, you know baldwhen he was wasn't it William Baldwin.
He he's too pretty.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Fletcher got blown up early and then but I shouldn't
have let him go first anyway, Like.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Get in there and take you've created all the thing,
and he had the that's pretty impressive for flesher he fell.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
I mean we're all idiots here, right, I mean we're
all like operating with the one lesson gelato than accommodation
played all four of us. So I mean it's impressive
that anything gets done.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Yes, it is a big deal. This fire at your
house yesterday. There were some stringers that made it out there,
and we're interviewing some of your neighbors. I found a
little audio from I don't know which neighbor this is,
but they were talking about your fire.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
And then I thought somebody was Barbecuel. I said, oh
Lord Jesus is a farm. Then I ran out.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
I didn't grab no shoes and none Jesus writing for
my life.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
I didn't smoke get me, I got broke.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Guid exactly what happened to me. I was like, I
don't know if that's.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
Throws himself.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
That is literally the story that I have to tell them.
I said, Lord Jesus that I had no shoes. No
one had any about you. Oh we just watched Bieber
sing with an acousta guitar. Like yeah, I was like,
that's pretty cool. Then good God. Anyway, thank you everybody
(19:50):
for being so nice about it. And uh, I'm sorry
that my house didn't burn down. I'm sure.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
I do think a call. I do think a call
to uh to Sweet James's warrant. I think we kind
of look at it and now, look if it's the
one your son made with the Chinese stuff off the
the two B or wherever he bought it, you know the.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Uh, why can't we sue China?
Speaker 5 (20:12):
Well us sign no relations. They're strained as it is,
and I want to add to him.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
I have I have a chemical headache.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
I think Sweet James needs to be alerted. I think
we power up the Sweet James signal. The s j
S and see what we got going here? I mean,
you got bronchitis. How are you supposed to do a
radio show?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
You're right?
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Should we start a GoFundMe for a new e bike?
Speaker 4 (20:43):
Oh yeah, he's starting to look at that. Last night
I said, you know what, dude, I'm gonna take your
phone and throw it off your head like.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Fun to me for a new bike. My bike burned.
I faced the red devil.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
I faced him down?
Speaker 5 (20:57):
Can you donate?
Speaker 1 (20:58):
So?
Speaker 4 (20:58):
I you know, my biggest regrant is letting him go
first and then getting blown back. And then I was like,
all right, I don't do it, you know, but I'm
used to being. I have a tailback, Matt. You know
I need a fullback in front of me to run ISO.
I need loan. Neil, get in there. We'll be back.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Take it on, Fletcher. I'm right behind you with the blanket.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Anyway, if you have an electric bike or a battery
or like a Tesla or anything, make sure you put
it in an asbestos box before you go to bed.
That's a good idea. We'll be right back with your
top story of the day.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
This is Petro Send Money on Demand demand.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
It's an I'm a horse, Meet you a lot of
Monday on the Petro Some Money Show on m five
seventy LA Sports, We got Dodgers Philly, David Massey's got
Miggy Row On the pregame show tonight, we too Low,
Too Big. Thank you to Modello and are meet you
a lot of friends and it's now time for the
(22:05):
top story. Tom sorry of it.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Well, if you peruse the online news outlets as it
pertains to the Dodgers, it appears as though a number
of folks with a pen and paper or a keyboard
are taking a page from the Panic Brothers and they
are panicking about a team that currently clocks in with
(22:29):
an over six hundred win percentage, the best record in baseball.
They are on pace to win one hundred and two games.
They have an eleven and a half game lead in
the NL West. But if you look at the sites
that seem to be in the know, you check in
with the Beast, the Beat writers, with the columnists, with
the Bills b I l apostrophe s over there at
(22:51):
the LA Times, seems to be a growing cry for
the Dodgers to once again be buyers at the deadline.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
We know f Bill Shaken.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
All right, Yeah, well yeah, that's why I said the
bill one is they you know, why don't you say
all their names? We know they aren't adverse to moving prospects.
They have in the most recently remember twenty twenty four
two separate deals got Jack Flaherty for a couple of prospects,
and they also moved twenty twenty six all star Michael
Vargas two other prospects for Michael Kopek. Tommy Edmund sent
(23:26):
out one of their top pitching and position player prospect pairs,
and Josiah Gray and kibert Ruiz for Max Schurzer and
Shrey Turner. Back in the day, they sent out a
bunch of prospects for you, Darvish. So even though people
say very productive of arguably the best farm system in baseball,
with the news yesterday from Dave Roberts that Shohal Tani
(23:47):
is not pitching anytime soon that instead of listening to
him as day to day, he said he is out
indefinitely as a pitcher. Quote, it's going to be sometime.
So you're keeping score at home right now. The Dodgers
are down. Asked about this, he said, I believe this
was the year it had to happen, so I think
(24:08):
probably out of the question moving forward with Otani now down,
that is your number two, three and four starters. Now,
I'm sure Dave, when he joins us next hour of essay,
will tell us that Smell's doing great. How would you
know he is coming back? Suppose they've Dave told us
August third would be his return. And I did see
he pitched over the weekend, so I don't know how
(24:30):
he pitched. I did not dig that deep into it.
I don't know where he pitched, if he was at
the tower buzzers, if he was at the OKC Express,
if he was in Tulsa with the drillers. But he reportedly,
according to Vassay when he last talked to us, is
supposed to be back August third, so that'd be two
weeks now. Glass now can only throw fastballs and has
(24:52):
not thrown to live hitting yet, and Otani is now
again quoting Dave Roberts, I'd say that it's not going
to be a d a day thing. And he also
added that it's wear and tear probably don't want to
hear as opposed to some sort of acute injury. Because like, yeah,
the guys in year fourteen of his professional baseball career,
(25:13):
and maybe we should start thinking about him not being
able to pitch a full season moving forward. If you
look at one of the rags that he did an
interview with before the season, he did say he felt
like this was his last best chance to win a
cy young and now he is going to be out
the window.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Now.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
Look, he's still the best hitter in baseball. That's all good.
The people they line up for the Otani bibbleheads. I
was not able to engage in conversation in Hawaii while
I was out surfing. The locals were not interested in
engaging with me. But I was able to eavesdrop on
their conversation. And two gentlemen were having a discussion about
the Dodgers. They both look to be of the Japanese persuasion,
(25:56):
but Hawaiian, and in their discussion, I did hear them
say to each other other, did you see that last though,
Tony bubblehead? I did see it. Do you see how
many people lined up for it? I did see that.
I went out last year. I think there are mostly
been fifteen thousand people in line. When I was trying
to get mile Tonni bubblehead. So he still moves the
(26:17):
neop even all the way out to the Hawaiian Islands.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
He's still a big deal Matt, even though his knees
a little sore.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
Yes, who the hell knows when they'll green light him
to come back, because then he's gonna have to build
up to be.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
Based on that conversation you heard, he's still very relevant,
still very relevant. I went into the game last year.
There were like fifteen thousand people. If things don't they
did say, Also, I did hear the other one say
I kind of like that dolt and rushing.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
I like his attitude. I wanted to say, so is
my radio partner, But I was like, I'm just gonna
sit here and stay quiet.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
It doesn't like me.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
If things don't change, you got Yamamo requieted love. Here's
what you should ask him, David. I asked him, and
he seemed to hate me.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Well, that's your problem.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
Yamamoto is your game one starter. I will give Snell
the benefit of the David veasse doubt since he's already
out there pitching Game two, and I guess that puts
Robleski Game three and Roki Sasaki was thrown like hundred
miles an hour on Saturday or Friday, whatever day it was.
Game four, Eric Lower with his choker. I mean, it's
not the worst thing, but it's not glass, not now
(27:20):
in Otani, and that's gonna thin out your bullpen. Remember
Dave was talking about how oh Robleski and Lower you
put him in the bullpen and they can give you one, two,
maybe three innings if someone has a short starter looks
a little a little wobbly out there. So now like
the Bills apostrophees, the calls are out there for hey man,
here's what's going on. Derek School, Would you stop with
(27:44):
dev I mean stop, but here's the problem.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Pee, You're gonna do another Schoobal trade.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
No, this is me saying the Tigers have the best
record in the American League since he came back. They
are twenty two and fourteen the American League suck.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
They're a sick guy with a Detroit Tigers hat last
night at the Red Onion. I can't I can't confirm.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
Right or hot. They're hot. They're only six and a
half under. Now, they're six and a half out in
the Al Central. Now they have to jump six teams
in order to make the wildcar But that's only four
and a half games away. And again, they have the
best record in the American League since school bul came back.
And this other dude that's with them, this Casey Mize,
(28:26):
is having a career year. They're each going to get
four starts before the trade deadline. They have won seven
of ten, eight of eleven. They're in Chicago playing a
Cubs team today that leads the wildcarpet.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
You know, when you did this story before, it wasn't
as much of a seller's market, right, you know, there
wasn't as many Detroit wasn't doing well, there wasn't a
bunch of teams that were in the race for the
wild card. That's fair.
Speaker 5 (28:52):
Maybe it will be a much more limited market and
they can get even more for Trek Scuble.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
But but you're trying to make the ping sing.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
I'm saying. They closed the first half winning six of eight,
and they started the second half winning two of three.
So point being, if they're two and a half out
of the wildcard, if they're three back in the division,
these guys probably aren't going to be available. So probably
not all that wise to be writing about how Andrew
Friedman has to make the big move, has to make
(29:22):
sure before the CBA gets reconfigured and the Dodgers can
no longer have a four hundred and fifty million dollars
pay roll.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
I'm with you, Andrew Friedman doesn't have to do anything
but stay black and die. He's already he's already proven
that he won free World Series. Yeah, he can do
whatever he wants right now.
Speaker 5 (29:40):
On the Tigers front. The other reason why they may
not do it. They got the best record in baseball
and continue to have the best record in baseball by
August third, the trade deadline. They're not just looking at
maybe getting into the Wildcard or maybe chasing down the
White Sox, who were the worst team in baseball the
last two years, yet somehow are on top of the
Al Central unbelievably. But they might try to make it
(30:01):
to the freaking Fall Classic, thinking no, we're good enough
with this one too, we can win the Pennant Man.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
So this is a blow to the pingalor narrative it is.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
I don't know why they look they were last in the.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
World Series since the owners meeting. Hey, here's the deal,
here's what it is. Yeah, it's trying to work a
deal in a major trade for Trek Scooler.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
The Tigers have not won the World Series since nineteen
eighty four, when they smoked the Tony gwyn Steve Garvey
Padres four games to one. And when I saw that,
I thought about Garvey and that brown and yellow, I
thought about the young Tony Gwinn, and I found myself
(30:48):
going down the Tony Gwinn rabbit hole, which tends to
happen when his name comes up. In nineteen eighty four,
Tony Gwinn was in his third season, really his second season.
He played fifty four games his rookie so really his
second season. He won the batting title, he led the
league in hits, and from that moment forward, his rookie year,
(31:08):
when he was just twenty two, he never hit under
three hundred, never and eighty six. He went to the
plate seven hundred and one times and struck out thirty five.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Some people say that it's I mean, obviously we wish
Tony Gwynn was here. Yes, let some say that he'd
be quite disappointed him and Ted Williams frozen head with
how okay major leaguers are now? Was striking out well,
not okay?
Speaker 5 (31:34):
Would you call Kyle Schwarber having one hundred and forty
seven strikeouts and half the at bats of Tony Gwynn
in that full season not caring about striking out?
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Some saying they're happy that Ted Williams frozen ahead and
Tony Gwinn's big packed lipper jaw and did not live
to see these terrible strikeout nonchalance. With these guys strike out,
they don't even get mad anymore. I will just walk away.
They just walk back.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
You know that's too bad? Ye, I've swung with three
balls out of the zone and that was my fourth
strikeout of the game.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
What do you know?
Speaker 5 (32:03):
But I'll hit a home run tomorrow and everybody'll be happy.
This is one of the better sound bites when you
go down the Tony gwyn rabbit hole of a Hall
of famer talking about what it was like to face him.
Here's John Smoltz, how'd you do against Tony?
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Winning your career? Not good?
Speaker 7 (32:17):
I still think the greatest stat in the history of
sports Maddox Glavin Pedro Martinez me, I want to say,
face them over three hundred and thirty times he struck
out over twelve thousand batters combined. We struck him out
three times. Pedro and Greg Maddox, Zero Glavin got him twice.
I don't even remember getting once. He struck out less
than one year than guys strike out in.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
A week.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
Three times. Maddox, Pedro, Martinez, Tom Glavin and John Swelt
struck out Tony gwyn in three hundred and thirty at
bats three times.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
He'd be disgusted.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Yes, finally, to put a button on this thing. They're
not trading real prospects for a catcher. I know Will
Smith's neck is an issue. I don't think it's falling off,
but I think it's fine. It's just taking a little
bit longer. He's got a year deal. Dalton Rushing. People
like his attitude, they like his emotion. Maybe they pick
up a Kate's favorite. What was your guy's name, Ben Rhortvett.
(33:11):
I'll take that as a yes.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
Yeah Rtvett remember him? Yeah, come on, Matt, it wasn't
that long ago.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
It was just last year. I didn't remember if it
was that guy.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Remote based around him like we did Austin Barnes. But
I mean it's not like he's that's he's that Forgott.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
I couldn't remember if it was him or if there
was another catcher I was forgetting about that Kate's was
excited about, but I do think it was Roth Vett,
Love Roddy. There you go, Love Roddy. So Kate's is
on top of all the catching availability Shay Langeliers, Hunter Goodman,
Ryan Jeffers, even though I don't know if it was
the Bills or one of the other spots I was
(33:48):
looking at. Does not seem like Will Smith on a
ten year deal is going to lead to you trading
two of your top prospects for one of these catchers
to take his place for a couple months. So there
you go. Trade talk, trade talk.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
You know, the Brewers need another arm to go along
with the miz Matt they do. They are the biggest
competition for Scoobal and the Pingalore narrative.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
Oh little border transfer from Michigan to Wisconsin. Hops across.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
They're going to meet at a bridge, walk them across. Uh,
we'll be back with more petros and money. We'll do.
How was your weekend without Ronnie? Next Wonder.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Southern California's most listened to sports talk show.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
This is on demand Hey, everybody, it's Petros and Money
on ampire seventy LA Sports. You're home of the Dodgers.
We're on early today, we might be on early tomorrow.
We should be, but there is a rain in the forecast,
so we might just do a full show. The Dodgers
are in Philadelphia. We will have an extra den and
Alive guy on the iHeartRadio app for everybody. Because it's
(35:03):
a short show today and we were off a lot
of last week show. But since it is Monday, and
that'll meet you a lot of Monday at that, it's
time for how is it a big weekend? I'll tell
you about mine? I was yours? Oh, I had an
eventful weekend as well. You know it's always that's so good.
How was your weekend? Oh? Ronnie hidden it. Ronnie hid
(35:26):
that he hit it.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
Dude, it's a big weekend.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
I'll tell you about mine. I was yours. Don't you
still want the show to succeed?
Speaker 5 (35:34):
Even Denis to choose a pizza bit Dominicans show. Jeez,
there we go.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Great job, Michelle, Well, Matt, how is your weekend?
Speaker 5 (35:49):
Weekend was good? Obviously took the week off and went
to Hawaii, Kawaii, and Waikiki couple plugs there because uh,
Mike over at kayak Kawhi was pretty great and took
us to the two hundred foot waterfall without incident, even
though a bunch of other tours were turning around saying no,
river crossing too dangerous, and Mike was like, no, it's not.
(36:13):
They just want to go home early. They know no
one can get their money back and that's not cool.
So thank you Mike at kayak Kawai for taking us
to the two hundred foot waterfall. Would also like to
plug Wiki Pizza. I don't think it has any relation
to Wiki pd. I think Wiki is a Hawaiian kind
of thing, but truly one of the great views and
delicious pizzas I've ever had. And my wife forgot her
(36:33):
purse there, so we would have missed our flight to
Honolulu the next day had the owner not coming at
nine am to open the safe to return it to
her for work eleven am flight, So a big thank
you to them. Go visit Wiki Pizza. Honolulu continues to
be one of my favorite places Waikiki, The Surf Rider
my favorite hotel probably anywhere, and I had mentioned the
(36:55):
well the Hawaiians that were fine, but not necessarily that
kind out there on the surf. That's I understand. I
would report back to you. P Yeah, that's kind of
what it was.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
But what donkey.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
Right next to the Outrigger Canoe Club where I spent
some time was the Elks y ki Ki and it
does look like they do have one of the absolute
premiere properties on all.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
I've been in there.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
Matt, Yeah, it looks like that is a premiere prie.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
I waved my Elk's card there like Wayne and Garth
with the at the Alice Cooper Show with their VIP
past look at me.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
Get access.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
It's pretty good.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
It looks glorious. If it is anywhere close to what
thet Rigger Canoe Club I know. I actually we have
a listener that listens every day on the iHeartRadio that
kept trying me to meet up with him, and I
was like, ah, got the weekend back here. We flew
back on Friday afternoon, got back late Friday night, and
(37:52):
the Seal Beach Fish Fry was happening all weekend long.
Had Lucky Jack play Saturday, and our friends The Steve
and Albatrio played on Sunday. So a great time here
in Seal Beach on the weekend as well.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
And they did a great job at our show the
other day. Okay, well is it cats?
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Yeah, I had a great week off. Guys worked a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
Really take a week off. I'm just breathe at you.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Well, I mean, technically, by the books from my heart,
I was on vacation, but I technically wasn't on vacation.
Constantly on my laptop and on my phone while on
the beach at Carpentaria, enjoyed the local spots of Linden Square,
Teddy's by the Sea, Rory's ice Cream, which is fantastic
local ice cream there in the Santa Barbara Carpenteria area,
del Gatto's Mexican Food. We went to all the places,
(38:33):
say all their names, I will as we went all
to the places and Carpenteria. Went on a walk by
myself one morning around the streets of Carpentaria. Been going
there since I was four years old with my parents
pretty much every summer, and I've been to a spot
a neighborhood I had never been before, and so I
was kind of cool just to see a different spot
of Carpentaria. Walking around the neighborhoods.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
You're not going to tell them what happened.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
She get attacked by a coyote.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
He was tackled and raped by coyotes.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Yeah what, Petro, so a conversation off the that we
weren't supposed to bring up on the air. I'm shot
number three for my rabies, so I'm hopefully not going to.
Speaker 5 (39:08):
Get infected by that, sou but thank you.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
For bringing it up for the world to hear. Legged God,
I thought it was a dog. Apparently it wasn't, and
it may or may not have rabies that it gave
to me. So I had a great week. I watched
a lot of soccer and yeah, just enjoyed a week
away from the show sort of not really not.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
Really, not really help us, though it would.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Madden believe it would have been great. Uh Michelle moo oh, yes, hi, welcome. Yeah,
I have to bring your mic up like Ronnie please.
Speaker 6 (39:39):
No, oh, how is my week? And you guys are
so nice to ask me? Actually, you know what, I
did a lot of things. I normally just stay home
and relax because I wake up so early. During the week,
I met up with two my two girl cousins because
I have thirty cousins, first cousins, and they're all boys,
but two are girls. So we hang out once twice
a year. And so I met up with the It
(40:00):
was great. And then on Friday night it was date
night for me and my fiance, so we went to
the Great Greek Instriman Oaks and I loved it.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
That was an enemy of the Papadaga's taberna, was it? Yeah?
How dare you? I'm sorry, that's all right.
Speaker 5 (40:15):
Well the tim verna's not there. I mean she doesn't
have a choice, right.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
No, you're right. You gotta go to the Great Greek
and eat that slop. Oh, I'm just kidding. I'm kidding.
It's a lovely restaurant. I'm just kidding. But my dad
used to be these idiots in the valley think they're
better than us. It's like that, it's like an hour away.
Shut up.
Speaker 6 (40:33):
I like the music they have lived.
Speaker 4 (40:35):
They had the live man. They do it wonderful. And
you know what the best part is their Greek. It's
not like some Armenian guys trying to be Greek. Right, Well,
where did you meet up with your cousins? Michelle? Uh?
Speaker 6 (40:47):
Where she lives in Upland. Oh well, one cousin lives
in Corona and one lives in Upland, and you know
I'm in the valley.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
So Matt, are you going to ask her? Am I?
Speaker 6 (40:57):
Oh, why what's wrong with Upland?
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Did you meet at the tropical Lake? Oh?
Speaker 2 (41:00):
No, that was gonna.
Speaker 5 (41:04):
Well if you had the meeting point right there in
the middle where the ten, the two ten, and the
fifty seven.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Raging waters would be nice. Yeah. All the two girl
cousins in the swim suits. What a wonderful time. Anything else, Michelle?
Speaker 6 (41:17):
No, then I just relaxed. Oh I tried to watch
some World Cup, but you know, I don't have regular TV.
I just have the apps. So I did watch a
little bit of it in Espanol on the Peacock.
Speaker 5 (41:27):
Oh yeah, the Telemundo's the nice work around there.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 3 (41:31):
By the way, Burbank had a watch party here on
Saturday and Sunday.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
I heard you were pretty upset about it.
Speaker 3 (41:36):
They had like twenty five thirty thousand people in the
streets at Burbank allegedly. Allegedly that's the number. They said,
twenty five thousand. I heard that. This sounds like a
usc spring somebody in the city of Burbank applied with
FIFA like years ago, like hey, we want to have
a watch party in Burbank, And they actually won a
watch party for the final game and the third place
(41:57):
game on Saturday, so they had to block off the streets.
That brought in a bunch of police and fire and
other police.
Speaker 5 (42:05):
It's not it's not.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
And the local businesses got screwed because they were charging
for this beer festival garden area with big screens and
you can sit out and watch it with other fans.
And the local businesses like Don Cuco's and the you
know finnies, they all got screwed.
Speaker 5 (42:21):
No parking, nobody's jammed in for the twenty five thousand
person festival. Yeah that's that's BS.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
I don't even know how they got twenty five thousand
people that I call BS on the number by.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
The way, Yeah, that's USC spring game numbers. So Petros
had a big weekend. I'll tell you about mine. I
was yours. It's pretty good. Well. I went to Las
Vegas for the Mountain West Media Day, which is at
the Palms Casino. They took it out of the circa
because the players are too young so I went to
(42:54):
the Palms. I brought my wife with me because it
was her birthday. So I went to the cocktail party
at the Palms, which is now owned by Yamavah, and
their cocktail not the Maloofs. No, the Maloofs. But speaking
of that, like, well they've given it up. But the
last time that I was in the Ghost Bar, I was.
(43:14):
I was with a friend of mine and the Maloofs
were absorbing my bill. And I was at the Ghost
Bar when it was the hottest thing around and my
my one of my guests, a drunken x USC baseball player,
fell on and crushed a waitress and you know, like
a cartoon to wear her little arms and legs was
all you were like, Yeah, like a coyote, you know,
(43:35):
like crushed and uh. And you know they were like, mister,
that's the last time I was in the Ghost Bar.
They're like, mister, maloof will absorb your bill, but you
guys are going to be asked to leave, no problem,
no problem, no problem. And then you know, I I
I was able to tell a few people, like you know,
when they had the NBA All Start game here, some
dude got thrown off the ghost bar, and everybody's like
for real, Like the North Dakota State coach was really
into that. So that I met with all the coaches
(44:02):
and a couple of my favorites, Timmy Chang and Troy
Calhoun and all that, and then my wife and I,
though our flight got delayed, we flew home, but I
took around on her birthday at the restaurant in the
Palms because our producer on My Fox Games is a
food critic brother in Vegas, a Vegas food critic, a
famous one, I guess, and he said, you could just
(44:23):
go to that restaurant in the Palms. It's unbelievable. And
I went to the restaurant. It's called Scotch eighty, named
after the Scotch eighties neighborhood in Las Vegas, not far
from Matt and I's favorite neighborhood in Las Vegas. Oh,
come on, Naked City City. Naked City called naked city
because the showgirls used to sunbathe naked to avoid tan lines.
(44:46):
But Scotch eighty was like where Sinatra and all those
people live. So anyway, it was a wonderful dinner, really
one of the better dinners i've had in many years
growing up in a restaurant. It was very special and
that was pretty. And then I came home and my
houseburn tried to burn down. So uh, other than that, yeah,
it was quite eventful weekend.
Speaker 5 (45:05):
I'd say a very eventful weekend.
Speaker 4 (45:07):
I had to fight with some people on Twitter about
Greek mythology as it relates.
Speaker 5 (45:13):
To I'm gonna go see that movie tomorrow. Maybe.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
Well you're into that movie, Matt, You want to.
Speaker 5 (45:20):
Movie Event of the Year shot in seventy millimeters? I'm
ax only I.
Speaker 4 (45:24):
Mean, even though three hundred was based on a comic book,
Like the Persians looked Persian, you know, the Greeks looked
pretty Greek. You know that, dude.
Speaker 5 (45:33):
It was like ten feet tall in gold.
Speaker 4 (45:35):
That's how Oh that was awesome. Persian King, King of
the Persian Hordes, Mat, he's like a god. Yeah, even
though that was a comic book, and like the characters
were like comic book characters, all swollen and weird looking
like they seem more Greek than you know. Anyway, I
(45:59):
can't wait, No, I can tell, I tell you're really excited.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
It is honesty, like Game of Thrones based on real
life history.
Speaker 4 (46:07):
Yeah, yeah, just like exactly.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
It's period piece. Yeah, everybody knows about.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
The h and that's what happened to try. They called
the dragons, you know, the right, the Valerian Steel or whatever,
white Walkers. We'll be right back with your word number.
Song of the Day.
